I like Nadia best, but it can be said two differnt ways - that might be annoying

Nerina sounds too much like Marina.
I have always loved Nadia

Nadia of course!

Simone- Ok, kind of cool in a not-trying way.
Fern- Going to date badly on account of that Radio1 presenter Fearne Cotton.
Nadia- I only like this with a long A as in Nah-dia, not with a short A as in Nad-dia. Half the world saying it a way I don't like would put me off.
Nerina- I prefer Nerine but it's alright.

Go with Simone.

Thanks for all your comments. No ballet connection, MrsvWoolf, I just like the names! I would pronounce Nadia with a long A, but I agree it could get annoying correcting the pronunciation all the time. Why do you think these names are odd, Nightstar?

I've just discovered Narcissa! I think it's beautiful. But I gather there's a Harry Potter character called this. Do you think that matters?

I love the name Simone.

I wouldn't usually be put off by the meaning of a name but I would with Narcissa. It is the female version of Narcissus who was the Greek God who gave his name to narcissism.

love Simone. Never heard of/ knew anyone with this name until dd had a play date with a new friend from school and when I went to collect her, the child's mum had a new baby named Simone - I was really taken back by name choice (in a good way) as its unusual to me - very pretty and "cool" but not in a try hard way..

Simone or Nerina.

Dreya · 14/03/2011 14:58

Simone is lovely and so underused. Nerina is nice too. Never heard it before. I was going to say Nerina Simone but it might sound too much like Nina Simone perhaps (but not a bad thing I don't think as she was fab!)

Narcissus is also the latin name for the Daffodil, even though I read Harry Potter when I hear Narcissa I always think of daffodils.

Report
Rhubarbgarden · 14/03/2011 16:40

I suspect Dh will probably veto Narcissa on narcissism grounds, but to me it's just daffodils too Greenzebra, and I can't think of a more cheerful flower to be named after!

Nerina is... odd. And not in a good way.
Fern is a no-no until Fearne Cotton disappears from the public conciousness.

Out of Nadia and Simone I'll go with... Simone.
