Hi

Expecting DC3 - have 2 DS's already with quite unusual names and struggling a bit with this one, particularly boys names.

So far we have:

Caspar Lawrence or Caspar Miles : I love Caspar but DS2 is Harper and worried that they are too similar

Jeremiah Lawrence or Jeremiah Miles : would be shortened to Jem

Marlow Lawrence : like this but think it may date

Lawrence is my preference for the middle name (it is FIL's name) but DH loves Miles and as I'm not keen on it as a first name he is pushing to use it for the middle.

Girls names are far easier Smile:

Marnie Elizabeth : I love this and think it would be fab for a teenager/woman but not sure it would work on a baby/child - but I do keep returning to it....

Romily Claire : would be shortened to Romy

Marla Elizabeth

Mirren Elizabeth

Honest opinions and suggestions would be gratefully received.

Thank-you

Love Laurence and Elizabeth. Also love Jem but prefer Jeremy to Jeremiah. Don't like Marlow.

Not Romily (or Romy). It keeps cropping up on MN for some odd reason.

I like Jeremiah Lawrence the most out of your boys names. Jeremiah doesn't work with Miles because of the repeated 'mi' sound, in my opinion. Caspar is a great name but I agree it's too similar to Harper.

Not keen on any of your girls options, sorry.

I like Jeremiah Lawrence, Jeremiah Miles and Marlow Lawrence for boys names, and Marnie Elizabeth, Romily Claire and Mirren Elizabeth for girls.

"Jeremiah doesn't work with Miles because of the repeated 'mi' sound" I thought that at first but I said it a few times and then thought actually it does work.

Thanks threefeet - don't tell DH that, I'm trying to steer him towards Lawrence for the middle name.
Glad you like Marlow too.

Caspar Lawrence or Caspar Miles - both lovely names :) Not too similar to Harper IMO, in fact I think they go together nicely.

Jeremiah Lawrence or Jeremiah Miles : would be shortened to Jem - again, like all these names. Only comment is that there are two "my" sounds in Jeremiah Miles so I don't think it "flows" especially well.

Marlow Lawrence : like this but think it may date - not so keen on this one. Think of Marlow as a place name or pet's name, sorry!

Marnie Elizabeth - OK

Romily Claire : would be shortened to Romy- not keen on Romilly/Romy, but love Claire

Marla Elizabeth - lovely :)

Mirren Elizabeth - I think of Helen Mirren so Mirren too surnamey IMO. How about Miriam or Miranda?

i think it depends on your ethnic group and social status.

Jeremiah Lawrence might fit in very well a posh public school but less so in your average comprehensive.

I was often tempted by the 'black ' sounding names , someone suggested cassius , and i always liked the spanish names Julio and Fernando ,I think though that choosing a name from culture other than your own is risky.
I reckon if its not to classic name
(Leroy for a white boy?) it can be ok but it can seem like you are trying too hard to be cool. Perfectly lovely white middle class kids called 'Otis' , just seems a little like the dad wants the world to know how cool he really is behind his aging DJ personna..

I am not that keen on your boys list, but I am not keen on 'unusual' names for boys so you might be best to ignore me. I am more of a meh (some might say) name for a boy. I like Miles though. How about Remy if you like 'unusual' names?

Now I do like a more unusual name for a girl but TBH none of your lsit grabs me. They all seem a bit 70s. How about Merry - I quite like it but DH vetoed it for us.

Jerome Lawrence (Jem as NN)
Romily Clare (Romy)

would be my take on your list :)
