I noticed this was the christian name of an actor in The Tudors.

This is the first time I've heard of this name. Is it an American thing?

It is a surname. I went to school with a girl with surname Torrance.

Torrance \t(o)-rran-ce, torr(a)-nce\ as a boy's name is a variant of Torrence (Irish, Gaelic), and the meaning of Torrance is "little hills". See also Dorran and Torin.

So it seems to exist. Are you asking for opinions on the name or whether we've heard of it before?

Not my cup of tea (the name, that is - wouldn't say no to the actor) but, depending on your surname and names of other dc, it may work.
