I am having a girl in June, and would love your thoughts on my top 5 (no one else is brave enough to give me an honest opinion!)

  1. Fia
  2. Mysie
  3. Norah
  4. Isla
  5. Maeve

Just for some context: I am Scottish and hubbie is Irish!

Love Norah and like Maeve - not so keen on the rest though, sorry. Lots of Islas around at the moment too.

  1. Fia

Name I haven't come across before, but it has a lovely sound.

  1. Mysie

Don't like it much, but it's not horrible.

  1. Norah

Old fashioned, but a lovely name. I think it's due a revival!

  1. Isla

Don't like, but I knew an Isla at school who was lovely, outgoing and friendly but a bit of a rebel. Got me into trouble a lot (I was a good girl, but she encouraged me to break rules Wink )

  1. Maeve

Not really got an opinion on this one.

None of them are particularly horrible. I think you have a good list there :)

  1. Fia- Odd and sound made up. Sounds a bit like a car, and the word "fear" said with certain accents.
  2. Mysie- Made up, surely?? Sounds like Masie with a Brum accent.
  3. Norah- Lovely!
  4. Isla- OK but there are a lot of them around.
  5. Maeve- This is the best. Really pretty, unususal but not trying too hard.

Definitely Norah. Then Isla and Maeve. Not fussed on the other two.

What about Maura/Moira?

Fia - agree with GandalfyCarawak
Mysie - love Maisie, but again agree with GandalfyCarawak
Norah - quite like
Isla - OK but a bit faddy ATM
Maeve - not keen

Oh, sorry Blush. I hate it when people think I've made up my very Welsh children's names.

Love maeve. Gorgeous.

Isla - meh.

Another vote for Norah! Love it. And also think Maeve is very pretty.

I like Isla and Maeve. Norah, however it is spelt, still sounds to me like "gnawer", which doesn't seem very pleasant so I've never felt able to like it. (Even though there was a lady in my village with the name who was very nice indeed.)

Another vote for Norah!

Also really love Norah and Maeve (and not the others).

My favourite by quite some way is Maeve. It's absolutely gorgeous. My only hesitation would be if there is a pronounciation issue - how do you pronounce this name yourself?

  1. Fia - not sure how to pronounce, but my pronounciation would be similar to Fear

  1. Mysie - I'm English and Welsh, and not heard of the name. Prefer Maisie

  1. Norah - Old ladies name, I think of Nora Batty

  1. Isla - like

  1. Maeve - like
