Drew for a boy?

DH really likes Drew. I'm a bit ermmm, not sure. I'd prefer Andrew on the b/c, but DH already has two cousins called Andrew (one with the same surname) so isn't that keen on Andrew.

We have a shortlist but nothing that really grabs either of us, we do like a few full names but aren't so keen on the nicknames which is hard. We have twins, Aidan and Joseph.

Any thoughts?

It's OK, I do prefer it to Andrew and think it's a name in its own right. It should be fine as long as your surname isn't Carey or P.Cock

hmm, not sure I like the sound of this - DH might though!

We like:
Lawrence (but not Lawry, Larry etc)
Robert (but not Bobby, Robbie, or Bertie)
Benjamin (but already in family)
Lucas and Louis are maybes

If I could find a good nickname for Lawrence I'd have that in a flash! Unfortunately we're in NZ and its going to be shortened no matter what.

i know two Drew's - BIL and work colleague i share an office with. Both are andrew on the bc but are Drew for everything including work email system etc.

i quite like the idea of andrew/drew as ds could change it to andrew/andy if they really wanted to.

I just can't get over the lorry/truck association with Lawrie.

I do like Ned but not sure about Benedict, and don't think DH would like it. I will try him though! William is BF's DC and too associated with him for me to consider, I think.

My eldest son is called Drew, I have never heard of another one. Obviously I love it, but annoyingly, some people do insist on calling him Andrew as they assume that must be his name.

I think Drew sounds a bit feminine thanks to Drew Barrymore and a preschool teacher of the DCs who was Dru (short for Drusilla). Maybe it would sound a bit different in NZ though.

I prefer Lorenzo by a long shot over Lawrence. Or Lorcan, an Irish version. Lorcan would go well with Aidan.

I like Louis and Benedict too, and prefer Luke to Lucas.

My MIL suggested Drew for our ds. I initially thought it was a bit drippy, but really like it now. Didn't use it as dad's name is Andrew and it doesn't go with our surname, but a contender, I would say.
Also like Benjamin and Lucas from your list.

Great choice - we christened our son Andrew after my dad but always with intention of calling him Drew(Dad was called Drew when young but when went to work thought Andy more grown up-yuk!). It really suits him and he is not wet at all (at tender age of 2 and a half)-actually think he'll be a bit of a rugby player.....:)
