Before you ask they are mostly foreign names. Are they too weird for this country or it's just in my head?

Orla
Edua
Imola
Lelle

IMO, I think you might be able to get away with Orla or Viola, but not too sure about the others. Unless, of course you are not British, then they may be ok.

Sorry, im not being much help am I?

Isn't Imola a grand prix track?
Orla and Viola are great

Ah yes, I just realised I wasn't reading Lelle in English but another language. No idea how to pronounce it in English Confused

Orla is my DD! Not unusual at all in Ireland. In fact pretty popular in England. If you are going for something 'different' it may not be the name for you.
Like Lelle & Viola though.

Thanks ladies,
I am British, but not born and bred in the UK, so I guess that qualifies me for using these names Wink.

Orla - DH's least favourite Sad
Edua - simply love it, could be pronounced either with an ?A? or ?E? sound I guess
Imola - think of the F1 track in Italy, same pronunciation (more of an ?E? sound)
Lelle - same as Elle only with an ?L? at the beginning
Viola - here I prefer the original pronunciation where the second letter is pronounced 'e', rather than 'i'.

... and what do think of Tabitha?
DH's computer says NO, not unless I give birth to a kitten Confused...

Some of them are slightly odd, tbh.

Orla is not, but is quite popular atm.

Not sure about Edua, it could be very pretty.

Imola is a racing track to me. Or possibly some sort of aqueous cream...

Lelle - to me this is the oddest of the bunch.

Viola - very pretty, esp if pronounced Vile-er, rather that Vi-OH-la.

FakePlasticTrees · 22/11/2010 21:06

well, if you name your DD after a F1 track, you have to accept she'll be asked regularly if that was where she was concieved. (Am assuming it's not why you've picked that name)

Orla - pretty. It will be reshuffled to say Oral when she's at school.
Edua - nice.
Lelle - sounds like a nickname, is short for anything?
Viola - only hope she's not musical.

I like Tabitha.

How can we shorten Tabitha?

Tab or Taggie.

QueenGigantaurofMnet · 22/11/2010 21:29

nope. I normally quite like the slightly off ball type names but they all seem a bit...try hard.

tabitha will become "biffa" when she 's at school.

Viola and Orla should be fine.
Lelle makes me think of the dreaded Lelli Kelli shoes (assuming that's how you'd pronounce it).

Report
BendyBores · 22/11/2010 21:42

I LOVE Tabitha.

I would shorten it to Tabs. Like Orla too, but it's not unusual.
