What do you think of Cressida as a girl's name?

I'm sorry, but I don't like it. It is a brand of suspension files (not in the UK though I don't think?).

I knew a Cressida a few years back. She was an uber independent, confident girl she really suited the name! I like it, unusual but not too much so! ..if that makes senseWink

She sounds like her hair should be growing out of the top of a cut-off egg shell.

By far my favourite girls name EVER. Wanted it for DD 1 and DD2 but DH wouldn't agree. I think that it's quite regal for an adult and also think that Cressie is a cute nickname for a baby/little girl.

She was one of the most impressive girls at my schools, won all the prizes, head girl etc etc. Only one I've ever known - think it's a great name. Think it has to have a good surname match - her's was Day.

I like the idea of it, but find the sounds quite off-putting. I guess I'm not a fan of Cress.

I really love the name Cressida. Lovely Shakespearean name :) Sadly husband has vetoed it, and on balance I do agree that it wouldn't go well with our last name. But it's beautiful!

Toyota Cressida was a car in South Africa. Did you not have them here?

Sorry, but it's a car to me. And not in a good way like Porche or Mercedes!

I don't like it when she wears her jodhpurs to do the Waitrose shop but she throws an excellent garden party.

I have tried to like it but can't.

Not fond of it. I always think of egg sandwiches when people are called Cress for short.

Not for me - sorry. Depends on the surname as well of course.

I'm currently loving Ivy, though it makes my friends barf.

It's my name so I'm biased. I have a dull surname so it's quite nice to have an unusual first name and be the only one e.g. at work everyone knows who I am. It was less good when I was 11 at a comprehensive school, but once I was past that, it's nice to stand out...

Though I have met 5 others in my life so there are a few of us around.

I get called Cressi by my family, and Cress by my friends.

I also like that I'm named after a literary character and it means 'Golden One' which is lovely I think.

Reminds me of a Viz character in the Modern Parents cartoon. Not a good thing.

I personally don't like it, but it's your decision. Don't listen to us!

I love it - but it is rather "Viz" and I'm nowhere near vegetarian/posh enough to use it! Wink
