Noooo. Fussy and just not very pretty.

I think it was the name of an Enid Blyton character, can't remember which book. One with a circus?

catinthehat2 Fri 12-Nov-10 15:33:09

I like it

Unusual, and unusual initial

YOu spell it how you say it

Not difficult to pronounce or read

won't be any others in her class

Not pink & girly yes, but that is a bonus!

Fenella Fudge!

looblee Fri 12-Nov-10 15:37:08

smile luckily our surname doesn't start with an F and goes well with Fenella - My OP isn't clear its Daisy I think is cutesy and my DH loves, he's not so keen on Fenella but could be pursuaded I am sure.

A new baby Fenella was greeted with groans from colleagues, from which I gathered everyone hated her name, so sorry, no.

LionsnTigersnBears Fri 12-Nov-10 15:53:52

Sorry no. Fenella was the mad welsh witch in Chorlton and the Wheelies. Damn I'm old....

nikki1978 Fri 12-Nov-10 16:12:51

And a character in a Jilly Cooper novel set in the eighties.

No I don't like it. She will end up being called Fen which is a bit shit really.

nikki1978 Fri 12-Nov-10 16:13:04

Can't you just call her Ella?

Minione Fri 12-Nov-10 16:15:30

THere's a teenage Fenella at my school and she is known as Nelly. I quite like it but wouldn't choose it personally

Raahh Fri 12-Nov-10 16:20:34

bah! someone beat me to it with Chorlton and the wheelies...
she was so cool! And green, and lived in a kettle, iirc.

JeanLouiseFinch Fri 12-Nov-10 16:22:18

Sorry looblee didn't mean to be rude. Fenella Fudge is a newsreader on Radio 2. I always smile when I hear her name as I think it's great.

lilly13 Fri 12-Nov-10 17:33:50

sorry this reminds me of fennel...

ThatllDoPig Fri 12-Nov-10 17:37:40

Yes, jeanl Fenella fudge always makes me smile too. I wonder if she has a sister called Rumnraisin. grin

ElephantsAndMiasmas Fri 12-Nov-10 17:39:57

I was at school with a Fenella (Fen, always), think it's quite nice.

What about Rosa?

PlanetEarth Fri 12-Nov-10 17:59:09

Sounds a bit posh to me grin.

LetThereBeRock Fri 12-Nov-10 18:02:12

Hideous.

looblee Fri 12-Nov-10 18:18:37

Ha ha it stirs up some opinions! I always laugh at Fenella Fudge, heard she married into the name as well!

Oh well you all have the same opinion as DH, I love Fenn for a boy you see, back to the drawing board. I'd hate to pick a name everyone sniggered at behind our backs! smile

spiderlight Fri 12-Nov-10 18:20:41

Wasn't Fenella the witch in Chorlton and the Wheelies?

CheerfulYank Fri 12-Nov-10 18:21:20

I've never heard it before. It's not awful.

anonymousbird Fri 12-Nov-10 18:21:25

We know a Fenella, commonly called Nella.

not my cup of tea, but nothing wrong with it!

But there is the Fenella Fudge thing.. had forgotten about that!

DanFmDorking Fri 12-Nov-10 19:02:51

joydivisionovengloves Fri 12-Nov-10 19:32:52

catinthehat2 Fri 12-Nov-10 19:35:59
