Where are all the baby Chloes?

Like lots of others from reading these threads, I gave my dd a name I did not realise was popular until we started attending baby groups (it is in the top 50). Now I hear it everywhere, and I have read comments on here about how popular it is. However, looking at the baby name statistics I am struck by names which are supposedly way more popular in terms of numbers of babies with these names, yet I have never met any - for example Chloe is at number 3 but have never encountered a baby Chloe. And there are names which are apparently more common than my dd's which would not strike me as such (Harrison eg). Am I just primed to hear her name everywhere and filter out other names? Or are there massive regional variations? Has anyone else experienced this?

You probably don't mix with people who call their daughter Chloe? It could be a class thing and also regional?

Where I live all baby girls seem to be called Maddison, Lexi, Lily or Olivia usually with May/mae/Mai on the end. Boys seem to be given names which are really surnames. It does seem to be a regional this as to which names are popular. For example, I have never met a Ruby and only know of 1 Jack.

it's probably partly a regional thing. I dont know any Chloes either - but I know lots of Myas and Mias and Olivias. Any Jacks I know are older kids.

I think it's regional, I know 2 Olivias, one is mine, no Jacks, any Chloes are 10-13 years old, no Rubys. But I know 4 Eves/Evies, 6 Kates/ Katies, a multitude of Ciaras, Niamhs and Ruairis.

Chloe is 15 months old and lives in Essex. Does that help?

I have always wondered where all the Jacks are. I don't know any children called Jack and yet it was no. 1 name for years. I know two baby Chloes and one Olivia. And lots of Lilys, Lexis, Eves/Evies and Sophies.

I know what you mean, all the Chloes I know are 7+

In reverse, I was amazed to see Edward so low - there are so many under 2 where I live that it has become a joke!

I've never met a Chloe in my life! The only one I know of is in Canada. I help run a Rainbows group so I hear a lot of girls names. I only ever met one Ruby. My DD1 has a top ten name but luckily, in the region where we live, we've not encountered many. But I also think parents are primed to hear their child's name.

Just had a look at the girls top 20, I know babies with all the names but:

Sophie
Grace
Lily
Evie
Mia
Ava
Charlotte
Lucy
Daisy

I live in North Wales, I know lots of baby/todlers with the non-top 20 names Maisie, Georgia, and Elizabeth.

Friends who have recently had children have used the names Gwendolyn, Matilda, Summer, Phoebe, Elen and Carys.

I know a baby Jack.
