I love Omri, it is in my top 2 if we get a ds3.
Gorgeous.

Lovely name.It really surprises me that it's rarely used.

Ooh, I've never heard it. It 'sounds' nice though.... Hmmm, you know what? I think I quite like it!

Really nice and not overused as many other names. Lovely choice!

I've never heard it before, but I quite like it. Where is it from?

I keep thinking this thread is about me... (often get shortened to 'Omi') Grin

Nice name.

Great name!

Sorry, don't like it, sounds like some poncey way to change Henry or similar.

Report
Thissideofchannel · 12/10/2010 13:43

It is Hebrew, I think. Can't personally see any similarity with Henry.. Hmm

Notyetamummy · 12/10/2010 13:48

I like it.

Sorry, not a fan. Sounds made up (although I know it's not), and too similar to Henri.

I love it. It reminds me of The Indian In The Cupboard books.

Report
Pasiphae · 12/10/2010 14:29

Lovely, but my DD is currently reading the Indian in the Cupboard, so biased via the book...

I don't like it. Sorry.

It sounds like something you chant at yoga.

poppydaisy · 12/10/2010 15:03

I like it.

I like it, but I can see the Henry connection.
I know a very advanced 2 year old Henri, often mistakenly called Henry. His parents have taught him to chant AitchEeeEnAreEye-Onree to make it clear.

Nope, not Hebrew. Not a name commonly used in Israel anyway.

I get the Henry connection from the French pronunciation, I guess.

It sounds Egyptian or something. Nice, but maybe a bit out of place for an English family IMO.

Report
mathanxiety · 12/10/2010 20:16

Love it. Very underused, imo.

'tis Hebrew. An early king of the Israelites. See Wikipedia.

Report
scouserabroad · 12/10/2010 20:21

It also means something like "my love" or "my darling" in Arabic. That's how my Dh (Algerian) uses it anyway. But I don't think it's used as a name in Arabic - Dh not here so can't ask!

I've got an Uncle Omri and he's Israeli.

Never met or heard of another.
