To be christened Edward (if it's a boy obviously):) but always be known from day 1 as Teddy?

Too babyish? What middle name, surname begins with W

Have strong English kings names for our other 2 boys

Edward for being a grown up, Teddy for family - but you know he'll be "Ed" as soon as he gets to secondary school and be really embarrassed to hear you call him Teddy! (of course, embarassing our DCs when they are cool teenagers is part of the fun)

Yeah I realise he may get Ed, but was kinda hoping it would naturally go to Ted perhaps.

I know what you mean about being a teen and being called Teddy though. Do you think we should just call him a sensible name?

I hate naming children, I have 5 and haven't actually chosed personally any of their names myself yet

I love it and always feel the need to sing 'Teddy Teddy teddy Sheringham' to display my lack of uptodate football songs.

Edward James as a middle name option maybe?

My best friend's DS is called Teddy (not Edward and its not been shortened).

Its a lovely name and really suits him.

Love it. Interesting website we found when choosing names, from people who'd actually been called certain names and what the pros and cons were. Feedback on the site was pretty positive and also said that the girls all cooed at the name 'Ted' by the time you were a teenager anyway! The only person that didn't like it when our son was named was his older brother, but everyone else's responses have been positive. Plus it's relatively unusual but not wierd, which is nice.
