I'm quite surprised and pleased that ds's name isn't on there. We chose a name that we didn't think was too popular but have since met a few children with the same name. We looked at the list at the registry office when we registered him and it was about number 80. Its a good idea that they are now combining the different spellings

Can I just point out - Jake is not the same as Jacob.

But they are LMWH as most Jacobs go by Jake. Same goes for Samuel/Sam etc.

Nah, most Jacob's don't go by Jake. Some might. But not most! Different name!

James and Jamie are different names too. I've never met a James who is known as Jamie

Interesting! Just marking my place for the girls' list. These things are very regional, aren't they? My dd's name was languishing near the bottom of the top 100 when I was pg with her, then shot up but still isn't top 10 in the national lists. Locally, though, you can't move for them. She has made three friends since we moved to the area a few months back: two of them have the same name as her, and one is very similar. It is definitely the new Mia.

To be honest, grouping James/Jamie and Jake/Jacob doesn't really affect their position.

Sorry NormanNorris, I didn't mean to be pedantic :) A woman I know insists on calling my James Jamie, and it always sounds odd to me, as it just isn't his name. I have started to really emphasise his name whenever I speak to her, but it makes no difference whatsoever!
