We're contemplating one (but undecided as it's also our cat's name - but that's another thread). We're in Norfolk. I know of another 1 or 2 in the Cambridge area.

We do have Scottish roots, though and it's the only name we can both agree on that no one in the family (apart from the cat) is also called.

I have a 5 month old one. (NW)
it's a real love it or hate it one.
younger people seem v positive, old ladies tend to look appalled.

DH's Scottish relatives thought it was very old fashioned at the time (16 years ago).

I know (Scottish) FIL will think it's a strange choice - he can't understand why we picked 'Hamish' as a mn for DS1.

I don't know any little Anguses inside Scotland!
Go for it. It's a very under-used name IMO.

I know one baby in Australia and one adult in Australia.

Faulous name though! It would be on my list except it doesn't go with the surname.

I have an Angus. Now 11, and born in the north of England. DH comes from Scotland, and we wanted a Scottish name that everyone could pronounce and spell, and was still unusual. It generated a lot of comment when DS was little. So far as I know it was all positive.

It does seem to be an unusual name even in Scotland, where we live now, although there has been at least one other in each school DS has attended.

I also know a 40-year-old Angus, who comes from the Highlands.

I think it is a lovely name, but I guess I would!

Very common in my family - most in Scotland and some in NZ, one in US! Love it and if I'd had a boy I would've named him Angus. Grin
