Hi all, I finally came up with some sort of a shortlist for my baby boy who is due in 2.5 months time. We already have one DS named Dominic.

Justin
Martin
Adrian
Herman
Frank
Oscar

Any opinions on the names please...?

I quite like Frank although prefer Frankie I think, and like Oscar too.

I thought Frank was a bit unimpressive compared with Dominic tbh, although I like the name itself. But I like other names too...

Would only choose Oscar. The rest are my classmates from 1963. Apart from Herman which is frankly just odd. Grin

Not Herman or Frank, those are awful.

Justin or Oscar.

Oscar although I suspect Martin might be 'Julian' type name that makes a comeback fairly soon.

I quite like Martin but can't move away from Martin Fowler in my head for some reason.

I like Oscar and Adrian (maybe it's a bit too soft though). Could be swayed by Herman, I love the idea.

Oscar's ok but massively overused at the moment.

The rest are a bit,......um, geeky. They remind me of a sensible sort of boy who does his homework in the library at lunchtime so he can spend his evenings tinkering with his model engines in the loft. He'd have a side parting with a 1940s wave, and short trousers.

I will not get a consensus here, will I :)

Vote for Adrian here.

Also like Adrienne for a girl, you know, just in case!

Oscar or Martin

If I'm honest, none of those would be my first choice, but if you like Frank, there is an awesomely 'neat' alternative...

Francis

This goes really well with Dominic, as there are two orders of monks - Franciscan and Dominican - and you could still shorten to Frank!

My personal preferences are Martin (simple) or Adrian (I think adequate match to Dominic, nice sound but how to shorten? Adry??). There is a cutie boy Frank in my DS's nursery group that's where I picked up Frank (Francis). Herman is a lovely German name but is not appreciated in here. I think I disliked Justin as soon as I wrote down it on the shortlist. Oscar.. lovely sound but far too popular?

Frank.

The rest are either dweeby or over used.

Martin and Adrian are fine. Herman is just hideous.

Herman?! Are you serious?

The only name I would even consider from that list would be Oscar and I'm not over keen on that.

BTW Dominic is lovely, not sure what happened to your taste? Smile

I am from Central/Southern Europe heritage, so my taste could be slightly different :)(i.e. globalised)

Not keen on your list I'm afraid, but Martin and Adrian are the ones I would choose.

Dominic is a great name. I think Benedict goes really well with it. It is also another order of monk too!
