Hi everyone.I am registering my son first thing in the morning.
We've decided on Danny.May put Daniel on bc.

Need a middle name!

Thinking Danny Alexander but of course that's the MP's name! Also surname begins with M so his initials would be DAM!

If not then:

Danny Jude
Danny Nicholas(Dh's name)
Danny Alessio

Ps.I've heard of a 'Daniel' before pronounced 'Dan-eel'.Has anyone else heard of this?

Thankyou Wink

I like Daniel Alexander, even though it's an MP's name, it still sounds lovely and you should go with what you like.

Everyone (including me!) will tell you to put Daniel on the Birth Cert. More flexible when he grows up and goes for a job as a bank manager, Danny would be confined to mechanic/plumber - IYKWIM?

I vote for Jude! Lovely name - congrats.

I like Daniel Alexander or Daniel Nicholas.

And agree- put Daniel not Danny.

Thanks everyone.

Do you think people won't take Danny seriously?Lots of Alfies/Archies/Charlies around nowadays.Do you think they might have same problem later in life?

but the Alfies are Alfreds, and the Charlies are Charles on the actual birth certificate usually. Archies I'm not so sure about...

Please put Daniel on the birth certificate. Don't worry about the MP's name just go with the name you love.

Congratulations on your DS.

Not Danny!!

Cute nickname for a toddler but not a name for a 30 year old man!

We might put Daniel on bc but if I'm honest I really don't love the name.I find it boring and vanilla.

I like Jude as a first name too but I like to give dc's affectionate nn's.'Ju' and 'Judey' are silly.

I'm Roman Catholic and getting him Christened Danny does seem Hmm I suppose!

Jude

Danny

Daniel

???Confused

Why not forget Daniel/Danny then and look for something else?

TBH, Danny is much more boring than Daniel. And to answer your previous question, yes, I think he would struggle to be taken seriously with Danny as his full name.

Jude is nice, you wouldn't need a nickname as its so short, really.

Like Daniel Alexander.

Daniel Alexander is very good, I think, but go with Jude as either first or middle name if that appeals more. Why have you chosen Danny/iel if you find it 'vanilla'? Is is a compromise or could you just not settle on something you liked more?

Definitely put Daniel on bc, not Danny. You can still call him Danny all the time if you wish, just gives him options.

Daniel Jude

Daniel Nicholas Jude, esp as Nicholas is his father's name.

How about a different less vanilla long form of Dan, like Dante, Abidan, Danilo, Dardanos, Giordano or Sheridan?

Nicholas and Jude are fairly vanilla too aren't they (but nice)?

I once read a book with a Dannyl in it. I always assumed it was pronounced Dan-eel.

Danny Nicholas

Danny is just as good as Alfie, Archie, etc, I know a Danny on bc. One of mine has a short version of a name and it's fine. Have what you like, he can always be Dan when older but most people will have short versions then anyway looking at the top 100 names (Charlie, Freddie, Alfie etc all around top 10/20)
