Baby names

DH hates my favourite girl names - any suggestions for similar sorts of names?

I love these, but DH won't hear of any of them:

Orla
Cora
Rose
Esme
Neve

We have also agreed a shortlist as follows, but not sure my heart is in any of these names IYSWIM:

Emily (but he would prefer Emilia)
Alice (but he would prefer Alicia)
Lauren
Meagan
Gabrielle

Any suggestions for names we might both love much appreciated!

I prefer your list, but I don't think that your styles are the most disparate I've ever seen on mn! You will find a name you both like if you keep an open mind and keep running new ones past each other.

Sometimes it can take you a day or two to decide whether or not you really like a name. You hear it and just rule it out straight away.

So maybe come up with a new plan where you both compile a list of new favourites, about thirty or so, and every day you run ONE past each other, then at the end of the month you say which ones are no way and which ones are possibilities...

Keep both of your minds open. Try them out for a day or so, maybe a week or so. Sometimes names grow on you or you can go off a name. Then when your DC is born it might not suit her anyway! LOL

None of my DC have the name that was top of the list of names for them... They never seemed to suit them so got soemthing else instead...

DD - got the name that was 3rd on our list

DS1 - had the only boys name we could agree on, that neither of us loved, but now I love it as it his name iyswim.

DS2 - his name wasn't even on our list and it took us 5 days to come up with something that suited him and that we liked!

esme is gorgeous. Niamh (when spelled properly) is gorgeous. Love Alice and Emily too.

Emilia looks really silly imho, sorry.

Rosalind / Rosa / Rosaline all nice.
Cecily is lovely.

A few others to throw into the mix -

Esther/Hester
Georgiana
Elinor
Meredith
Yolande

Thanks for all your suggestions.

Quite like Isla, Esther, Iris, Elise. Will suggest Coraline, Rosalind as ways of getting close to my faves.

Think you're right in that I need to keep an open mind and keep trying - but I really need to 'get over' those names I first fell in love with.
