I like Arlo Edward and I think that Ivy goes really well with Sky.

You are very brave, putting your final choices in front of the MN masses!

Luckily they are lovely names! Prefer Ivy for the girl's name.

I like Arlo Edward.

Not quite so sure about Rupin, I haven't heard of it and personally would go for Reuben instead. Can you tell us more about it?

Elsie, Isla, Ivy and Beatrix are all nice, although I prefer Beatrice to Beatrix, and would go for Elsie Beatrice or Ivy Beatrice.

I like both Elsie and Ivy, and think Ivy goes especially well with Skye.

Ivy Beatrix and Arlo Edward.

rupin is sanskrit for 'assending' whitch my dp really loves the meaning of
(it was that or devendra for him !!!)

although Edward was my grandpa so both have meaning for us...very hard to choose!

laundry funny you say that as my nans name was beatrice and as its a bit of a tribute to her, maybe i should just stick with that...?

thanks everyone!

oh as for being brave...when you name your pfb sky matilda rose WITH a double barreled sir name, you kind of have to be brave!!!

suffice to say their father is a hippy!

Arlo Edward is my fav, but when I say Sky and Ivy outloud it sounds... not quite right... like the name of a restaurant or something I cant quite put my finger on! Dont mean to be unhelpful and on its own I think its lovely, so I'd have to say Elsie

I dont really care for Arlo but of the two it goes better with Edward imo

Dont mind Elsie or Ivy both pretty names

Ooh quite like them.

Like Arlo Edward

And prefer Ivy to Elsie but they are both nice. Beatrix is even better. Fab name!

Arlo Edward, Ivy Beatrix is FAR nicer that Elsie Isla.

Report
Chunkamatic · 01/08/2010 14:33

Elsie and Isla are too similar sounding to me to be a good combo.

Would go for Arlo Edward or Ivy Beatrix.

thanks guys...
am thinking beatrix could be a first name now too...
my favorite was ivy beatrix but im now thinking sky and ivy sounds a little odd, like kiwi says a restaurant or some thing...

would beatrix as a first name work with any of the others as a middle name?!

Yes I think Beatrix (or Beatrice) would be very nice as a first name.

Beatrice Ivy would be lovely

Beatrix Ivy, Beatrix Elsie, Beatrice Elsie all sound good. Or how about Beatrice Elisabeth (Elsie as nickname for Elisabeth)?

Isla is OK but IMHO doesn't go so well with Beatrix as it's a different style of name.

I agree that Elsie Isla doesn't sound quite right together - love the name Beatrice and would go with Ivy or Elsie as a middle name IMO.

Love Arlo with either middle name - never heard of Rupin before but I like it.

Actually forget the Isla, didn't think about the Isla Skye problem

whatnolooroll actually just spat out a little bit of tea!!
i did not think of the isla skye! sooo funny!

loving beatrice/beatrix as first name!
with bea as nn?

struggling with middle name for Arlo,
love the idea of a baby ru...plus dp loves the meaning, but, edward sort of flows better and is a nice tribute to my grandad
(although doesnt this mean we should use dp's family name tradition too?)

ahhhh!

I only got it afterwards , shame because I love the name Isla. Beatrix Isla is still lovely though and you'd be unlikely to be shouting middle names across a crowded playground!

Arlo is such a fab name () it doesn't matter what the middle name is . It gets lots of good reactions too. I'm a bit worried it is becoming the new MN 'name' after Cassius

Edward is nice though (I like Eddy lots)

Beatrix was on my girls name list too (though DP vetoed it)

i totally love it though!
id probably even let dp have 'devendra' as middle name as long as i get arlo!!! well...maybe...

Beatrice is much softer sounding than Beatrix and goes nice with Ivy.

Like Keeley myself and Sofia..

don't like Arlo at all...sounds too like Harlow said by an Essex girl..(being one I can say that )

Like Xavier (or Javier) if Spanish but wouldn't work in English.
