Hi. I'm looking for other mum's recommendations on what baby Monitor to buy. I am so confused by all the different options out there and different brands. I have so far been going between Tommee Tippee and Angelcare, I dont know whether to also go for sensor pad or not as I have heard stories of false alarms being quite common. Any advice or opinions would be gratefully received as it has been 10 years since my last baby and monitors were very basic back then! Any other brands features anyone can recommend? :)

I've just had a good debate on this at my nct class. I'm 25 weeks and not used ours on baby yet but we chose the tomy td350.
It is really personal preference I'm afraid. I know people felt the sensor mat was essential, but like you I have heard lots of stories that they go off all the time and actually made the mum worry more. My SiL really recommended against getting one.
Video- again personal preference. I heard they are good as if you hear a stir or cough you can look on the screen and check what it is without disturbing the baby, sometimes waking them up. At nct quite a few of the couples said they know people that have a video one and they are actually obsessively looking at the screen. That's not healthy.
What was key for me was that it has a room thermometer as I didn't want to buy 2 gadgets. The reviews are good. We have set it up and I like that it has 2 way talk and the parent unit can control the night light etc.
the sound is brilliant and it has a good range if we want to take it into garden etc we can
