What colour is Wednesday? (Or any other day, for that matter.)

Beeyump Wed 27-Nov-13 15:05:08

I have always thought of the days of the week as having colours - sometimes I see the word written out in colour, other times like a coloured calendar... I know I'm not totally weird, because a Kate Atkinson book I read a while ago made reference to this! So:
Monday - yellow
Tuesday - green
Wednesday - orange
Thursday - dark green
Friday - purple
Saturday - some kind of light colour, not very sure actually
Sunday - dark red

Anyone else?!

sashh Wed 27-Nov-13 15:11:04

Monday I agree, tuesday is blue though

Sillybillypoopoomummy Wed 27-Nov-13 15:12:48

ah - I think of Wednesday as a nice, but slightly melancholy mid blue

LittleBabySqueakSqueak Wed 27-Nov-13 15:13:55

No no no!

Monday - red
Tuesday - light blue
Wednesday - yellow
Thursday - bottle green
Friday - black
Saturday - dark blue
Sunday - gold

Weegiemum Wed 27-Nov-13 15:14:02

I see days as colours too, as does my dd1.

People also have colours/textures.

Some sounds have colours too.

It's called synesthesia.

Looksgoodingravy Wed 27-Nov-13 15:14:40

Since I was about 9 I've always described Wednesday as a green sort of day smile

Mon- red
Tues- blue
Weds- green
Thurs- yellow
Fri- orange
Sat- purple
Sun- pink

I don't have the foggiest why this is just how they come out in my head

I also colour code subjects at school- I'm a teacher and so is DH- and DH thinks I'm mad when I get indignant about subjects not having the "right" coloured books. So my subject- English- is definitely yellow. His subject- Geography- is green. History is red. Maths is blue. Science is orange. Art is purple. As far as I recall this has nothing to do with any I my own books when I was at school.

Pretty sure there's a word for this way of thinking, but can't remember what it is.

X post wee- that's the word!

Beeyump Wed 27-Nov-13 15:16:59

Thanks for the explanation, weegiemum smile
Thursday is indeed bottle green, but I must have Wednesday as orange. It's a 'middle of the week' sort of colour.

jellytots1916 Wed 27-Nov-13 15:18:09

Wednesdays are a light yellowy green for me, Thursdays are dark royal blue, Fridays are brown, not really sure about Saturdays, Sundays are dark green, Mondays lemony yellow and Tuesdays are a lighter blue than Thursdays.....

Some months have colours for me too but I think that is because I associate it with the seasons? December is black/red, May is light pink etc etc

mistermakersgloopyglue Wed 27-Nov-13 15:18:22

Monday - blue
Tuesday - lemon yellow
Wednesday - olive green
Thursday - purple
Friday - orangey red
Saturday - orangey yellow
Sunday - dark red and white
This has been the way for as long as I can remember.
The fact other people see the days in different colours is just so strange to me!
I also see months in colours as well.

Pawprint Wed 27-Nov-13 15:18:45

I have synaesthesia too.

Monday - White
Tuesday - Yellow
Wednesday - Black
Thursday - Purple
Friday - Black
Saturday - Silver
Sunday - Dark Grey

I see letters and words in colours too.

HellonHeels Wed 27-Nov-13 15:18:49

Wednesday is definitely green! Tuesday is red.

Beeyump Wed 27-Nov-13 15:19:11

November is red, January brown, June rose pink.

Caff2 Wed 27-Nov-13 15:20:22

No, no, no! Wednesday is def yellow! grin weirdly, it's the only one that has a colour for me.

Sleepyhoglet Wed 27-Nov-13 15:20:52

Wednesday is green.

mistermakersgloopyglue Wed 27-Nov-13 15:21:06

Yes some agree about the subjects having colours as well! History is definitely red (well specifically dark red/light burgundy). Weird isn't it?

TheRaniOfYawn Wed 27-Nov-13 15:22:17

Monday - pale blue
Tuesday- pinky red
Wednesday- golden yellow
Thursday- dark orange
Friday- bright orange
Saturday- yellow
Sunday- dark blue.

No greenish days at all, which I'd never noticed before.

mistermakersgloopyglue Wed 27-Nov-13 15:22:41

April is bright pink, February is dark blue, October is browny green, may is pale blue, June yellow to name a few!

Looksgoodingravy Wed 27-Nov-13 15:22:47

I'm so glad there are more of you out there. Think my whole family thought I was weird for quite some time but then again as the years have gone by they 'sort of' agree grin

Looksgoodingravy Wed 27-Nov-13 15:23:30

But I'm sorry, Wednesday is definitely green!

Beeyump Wed 27-Nov-13 15:24:20

Don't be sorry, it's ok to be wrong grin

TheRaniOfYawn Wed 27-Nov-13 15:24:35

Months don't have colors for me though. Wednesday sounds like a trumpet but other days don't have sounds.

hugoagogo Wed 27-Nov-13 15:25:21

Wednesday is green -

monday is peach
tuesday is yellow
thursday is brown
friday is also yellow
saturday is bugundy
sunday is white

jellytots1916 Wed 27-Nov-13 15:29:21

I have only just realised that I can see colours with subjects now that you have mentioned it!! maths is yellow brown, English is bluey green, History is brown, Science Black etc etc

Absy Wed 27-Nov-13 15:30:28

Wednesday is blue.

I also think of subjects as colours - I agree that Geography is clearly green, Maths blue.

hugoagogo Wed 27-Nov-13 15:30:42

dd has this too, she and I both sometimes find that we are aware when we are dreaming and can influence what happens in them.

I wonder if these two things usually come together?

Looksgoodingravy Wed 27-Nov-13 15:30:59

I'm sorry for your orange Wednesdays Beeyump, great deals on at the cinema though wink

JulesJules Wed 27-Nov-13 15:33:18

I have this as well! (synesthesia) My week is coloured like this:

Monday - yellow
Tuesday - light blue
Wednesday - leaf green
Thursday - navy blue
Friday - red
Saturday - yellowy cream
Sunday - white

Wednesday is definitely green!

There's a whole organisation for this www.uksynaesthesia.com/ and even an upcoming conference grin

Beeyump Wed 27-Nov-13 15:34:40

I like the idea of sounds for days too, but have never had that.
Certain names conjure up general colours too - Jane is dark, maybe brown or red, Lucy is purple, Dawn is yellow umm...Verity is dark purple! John is dark too, Felicity is orange.

ErmICantThinkOfAName Wed 27-Nov-13 15:36:06

No!!!! Wednesday is a very dark, murky purple!!

Monday - royal blue
Tuesday - red
Wednesday - dark purple
Thursday - orange
Friday - sky blue
Saturday - mustard yellow
Sunday - grey

JulesJules Wed 27-Nov-13 15:36:57

1 in 23 people have this to some extent according to Wiki

ErmICantThinkOfAName Wed 27-Nov-13 15:38:12

I get colour for names too. My husband is navy blue and my best friend is a very pale grey colour with a sort of "cashmere" texture.

Funnily enough though, I have never had a colour for my name.

Beeyump Wed 27-Nov-13 15:39:06

Whaaat?? My world is literally being shaken, with so many people declaring Wednesday to be green sad

MollyBerry Wed 27-Nov-13 15:40:37

Can I just say I don't see anything with colours and am very jealous as I'm the sort of person who at school had colours all over their notes!

Beeyump Wed 27-Nov-13 15:42:19

<pats Molly's hand comfortingly>

cupcake78 Wed 27-Nov-13 15:43:28

Monday-light blue
Wednesday- dark Pink
Thursday - Green
Saturday- yellow

Blockette Wed 27-Nov-13 15:43:28

Green! Don't know why, the other days don't have such strong colours but Wednesday has always been green.

Beeyump Wed 27-Nov-13 15:43:59
MisForMumNotMaid Wed 27-Nov-13 15:44:51

I read the op and thought, Wednesday is green.

Didn't want to disagree but now kind of glad i'm not alone for once!

CloserLook Wed 27-Nov-13 15:46:40

Wednesday is definitely green!

Monday - red
Tuesday - blue
Wednesday - green
Thursday - light purple
Friday - doesn't have on for me (don't know why)
Saturday - yellow
Sunday - white

None for months but yellow is history, maths is red, science is green and english is pink.

CloserLook Wed 27-Nov-13 15:48:48

Shocked that so many people agree with Wednesday being green. I always though it was just me.grin

CloserLook Wed 27-Nov-13 15:49:32

thought not though blush

Heebeegeebees Wed 27-Nov-13 15:50:08

Monday - grey
Tuesday - pink
Wednesday - green
Thursday - russet
Friday- red
Saturday - yellow
Sunday - blue

Golddigger Wed 27-Nov-13 15:51:05

I pretty much agree with the op. Wednesday definitely orange. But tuesday blue as the first poster said.
Saturday white, though it almost feels like sunday should be white.

caramelwaffle Wed 27-Nov-13 15:51:25

Wednesday - green
Tuesday - yellow
Thursday - grey
Friday - Dark blue

Did I match anyone else?

lottiegarbanzo Wed 27-Nov-13 15:51:42

Beeyump Wed 27-Nov-13 15:54:45

Golddigger thank you! I'm ridiculously delighted that someone else agrees about the orangeness of Wednesday.

MrsDoomsPatterson Wed 27-Nov-13 15:55:35

Wednesdays are steely grey, Tuesdays are brown. Thursday is red.

MrsDoomsPatterson Wed 27-Nov-13 15:56:51

Saturday is suede.

Golddigger Wed 27-Nov-13 16:00:23

I was thinking orange when I saw your subject heading before I clicked on it. Delighted that you thought orange too!
Quite agree with you seasons and names ideas too.

We must have been seperated at birth and all that.

Beeyump Wed 27-Nov-13 16:00:37

Well, Thursday is like dipping my hands into a bowl of bottle green jelly.

Mondays are yellow
Tuesdays are orange
Wednesdays are green
Thursdays are brown
Fridays are white
Saturdays are black
Sundays are blue

Has been that way ever since I can remember!

Beeyump Wed 27-Nov-13 16:02:20

grin yes, Gold! It seems we are the lone voices of reason/twins.

Kleptronic Wed 27-Nov-13 16:03:43

Wednesday is olive green. Like a parka.

And the numbers.... let's not start on the numbers!!

(1 is white, 2 is yellow, 3 is orange, 4 is green, 5 is red, 6 is blue, 7 is brown, 8 is green (again), 9 is black, 10 is white)

TheEyeofHarmony Wed 27-Nov-13 16:15:56

Wednesdays are green
Tuesdays are blue

Sunday is red
Monday is lilac or pale blue
Thursday is yellow
Friday is purple
Saturday is orange

Beeyump Wed 27-Nov-13 16:22:04

I wonder why the majority see Wednesday as green?

No, Wednesday is a pale toffee colour, similar to strong but milky tea.

VikingVagine Wed 27-Nov-13 16:26:10

Monday= green
Tuesday= light blue
Wednesday =orange
Thursday =navy blue
Friday = grey
Sat = pink
Sunday = yellow

Beeyump Wed 27-Nov-13 16:34:02

OneStepCloserIWillExterminate Wed 27-Nov-13 16:35:10

Monday - Pink
Tuesday - blue
Wednesday - Orange
Thursday - Mauve
Friday - Black
Saturday - Yellow
Sunday - Sunset Colours (why that came to my mind, I dont know)

DoTheStrand Wed 27-Nov-13 16:37:09

Beeyump and Viking thank goodness some sense about Wednesdays - how could it be anything but orange? I once had an argument with my mum about what colour Wednesday is. Obv she was wrong wrong wrong...

I also do it with numbers and months.

DoTheStrand Wed 27-Nov-13 16:38:33

And OneStep. Phew! We orange Wednesday-ers may yet prevail.

mrsrhodgilbert Wed 27-Nov-13 16:39:29

Wednesdays are definitely yellow.

OneStepCloserIWillExterminate Wed 27-Nov-13 16:56:49

Its weird but as soon as I read the title, I thought Orange.

oops, Ive just realised that I might have been swayed by Orange (the mobile phone) Wednesdays, I wondered why it came so vivid to me blush

Sundays definately sunset though, I wont be budged.

Beeyump Wed 27-Nov-13 17:13:55

But I thought of it as orange before 'Orange' was! Honestly

MummyPig24 Wed 27-Nov-13 17:15:49

Wednesday is yellow.
Friday is red.
Thursday is blue.
Tuesday is purple.
Monday is orange.
Saturday is green.
Sunday is white.

OneStepCloserIWillExterminate Wed 27-Nov-13 17:18:00

I agree Wednesday is Orange though.

WhatTheHellIsHappening Wed 27-Nov-13 17:22:20

I also am a synaesthesic!

Monday: indigo blue
Tuesday: sky blue
Wednesday: orange (orangey orange)
Thursday: red
Friday: Yellow
Saturday: Grassy green
Sunday: dark purple

And for months:
January is a pale blue
Febuary is a pale pink
March is a golden colour.
May is a lavender colour.
June is a deep yellow.
July is apricot.
August is dark reddish purple.
October is silver.
November is yellow.
December is grassy green.

Piffyonarock Wed 27-Nov-13 18:01:13

You're all wrong, Wednesday is a purply cerise pink.

Monday: Yellow
Tuesday: Deep blue
Wednesday: purply cerise pink
Thursday: Peachy Orange
Friday: hmmm, I'm thinking deep blue again, but maybe I've got mixed up with Tuesday
Saturday: Light sky blue
Sunday: white or a pearly light colour

nomorecrumbs Wed 27-Nov-13 18:02:30

Wednesday is grey!!! Dullest day of the week.

Piffyonarock Wed 27-Nov-13 18:18:43

Friday is green

ShinyBauble Wed 27-Nov-13 18:22:07

Is it possible to teach yourself to see words as colours? I feel I'm missing out sad

JohnnyUtah Wed 27-Nov-13 18:35:18

Wednesday is orange for me, op.

Monday dark blue, Tuesday light blue, Thursday I'm not sure but it's dark, Friday yellow, Saturday light brownish, Sunday dark grey.

UsedToBeNDP Wed 27-Nov-13 18:38:20

Not a clue. I'm not that way inclined

Monday is light blue
Tuesday is yellow
Wednesday is a burnt orange
Thursday is a sort of light blue
Friday is grey
Saturday is orange (nice orange)
Sunday is brown

Morgause Wed 27-Nov-13 18:42:21

Wednesday is green.

Lancelottie Wed 27-Nov-13 18:47:24

Wednesday is not just green but pale green, like the light through sea glass.

However, I am pleased to see that JohnnyUtah has Saturday right. Good chap.

Lancelottie Wed 27-Nov-13 18:48:13

We need a spreadsheet here, folks.
Anyone up for counting the orange-versus-green Wednesdays?

JuliaScurr Wed 27-Nov-13 18:51:50

relieved to see a majority for green Wednesdays
dp got a pack of 7 coloured socks
he took his life in his hands and wore yellow on Monday
I was amazed he lasted the night
playing with fire

AthelstaneTheUnreadyFucker Wed 27-Nov-13 18:52:53

Wednesday IS orange hmm. A sort of umbery orange.

brandyandsummergloves Wed 27-Nov-13 18:52:56

Sorry you're all wrong, Wednesday is a deep wax-crayon purple

JuliaScurr Wed 27-Nov-13 18:53:56

orange Wednesdays indeed!
pshaw <dismissive>

Timpani Wed 27-Nov-13 19:24:09

Monday is blue
Tuesday is blue
Wednesday is definitely yellow
Thursday is brown
Friday is orangey
Saturday is yellowish white
Sunday is yellow

Mine sometimes change though. And it's harder to say for definite what they are. If I were to post next week it may be different?!

With me, certain letters have colour. 'E' is yellow, 'I' is white so sometimes I see the colours of the letters kind of mixing and sometimes I have a colour just for the word.

Eg. 'TH' together is browny red so the name Ruth would give browny red though 'r' is quite greeny.

That's why Wednesdays are yellow for me (the 'e's) but there's a touch of blue because 's' is blue!

I bet I don't make sense do I?!

Puttheshelvesup Wed 27-Nov-13 19:42:22

I'm another green Wednesday kind o' gal. A yellowy new beech leaf sort of green, and it could never be anything else!

Monday - cold pinky red
Tuesday - blue green
Wednesady - as above
Thursday - warm brown
Friday - warm yellow and black like a bee
Saturday - cold and blue
Sunday - warm buttercup yellow

I have colours for months, letters of the alphabet and peoples names, but not so much numbers. As a child I thought everyone was like this, until I went to uni and a friend had read about synesthaesia in New Scientist and was ranting about how ridiculous the article was, and 'of course people don't have this! Totally made up for entertainment sake!' I kept quiet......

LovelyWeatherForDucks Wed 27-Nov-13 19:43:34

Wednesday is definitely green!

recall Wed 27-Nov-13 19:47:16

Monday = Bright yellow
Tuesday = pale orange
Wednesday = pale green
Thursday = mid purple
Friday = navy blue
Saturday = Black
Sunday = pale lemon

Lancelottie Wed 27-Nov-13 20:02:28

More results please!

So far, orange and green are hugely ahead for Wednesdays, and blue for Tuesdays; yellow seems evenly spread across the week, and there's a minor peak for white, cream and silver Sundays (yes I'm very bored waiting to pick up a child here...)

Sunshinelaulau Wed 27-Nov-13 20:08:33

Wednesdays are green because its half way through the working/school week so Monday and Tuesday is uphill Wednesday is at the top of the hill and Thursday and Friday down the hill... Hills r always green grin Monday Black Tuesday brown Thursday yellow and Friday orange Saturday gold and Sunday purple (lilac) smile

waxlyrical Wed 27-Nov-13 20:17:37

Monday - bright mid blue
Tuesday - dark green
Weds-dark navy blue
Thurs - sage green
Fri - white
Sat - pink
Sun - blue again but lighter

Elliemayclampett Wed 27-Nov-13 20:26:26

Monday -purple
Tuesday - blue
Wednesday - green
Thursday - orange
Friday -pink
Saturday -yellow
Sunday - turquoise

Lancelottie Wed 27-Nov-13 21:03:20

What? You make the week climb a hill Sunshine? Surely it's shaped like the weekends are bookends at either side of a shelf as any fule kno.

HectorVector Wed 27-Nov-13 21:08:19

The moment I read 'what colour is Wednesday?' And yellow came into my head. Therefore it's yellow.

I feel sad for people who don't see words as colours - I can't understanding the world making sense without it.

I'm definitely in the Wednesday is Green camp.

Monday is Royal Blue
Tuesday is Pale Blue
Wednesday is Green
Thursday is Yellow
Friday is Red
Saturday is like a gold colour
Sunday is Silvery

DoTheStrand Wed 27-Nov-13 21:35:35

Ok Lancelottie, some more for your spreadsheet grin

Sunday yellowy-brown
Monday blue
Tuesday yellowy-green
Wednesday ORANGE!!!!
Thursday purple
Friday deep brown
Saturday red

Numbers - even numbers are reds, blues, pinks, pale greens, white, gold.
Odd numbers are browny, orangey, yellowy colours - colours I don't like. But then I don't like odd numbers anyway as they seem lonely!

lottiegarbanzo Wed 27-Nov-13 21:48:23

Ok, well, the definite ones are:

Tuesday - green
Wednesday - blue
Thursday - orange
Sunday - yellow

Less clearly:
Saturday is black
Friday is purple or grey
Monday is looking rather colourless.

Yes to bookends, the weekend days are higher up. I see this week and next week, running in opposite directions (towards, then away from the forthcoming weekend).

Wishfulmakeupping Wed 27-Nov-13 21:49:46

Wednesday is green

Chigley1 Wed 27-Nov-13 21:53:02

Monday Red
Tuesday Blue
Wednesday Yellow
Thursday Green

Always been the same for me, since childhood. Oddly, Fri, Sat and Sun don't have colours, for me.

I thought I was the only one did this for years!

KenDoddsDadsDog Wed 27-Nov-13 21:55:09

Tuesday is yellow
Friday is red
Sunday is blue

MargueriteLeChou Wed 27-Nov-13 22:02:14

Wednesday = spring green

Beeyump Wed 27-Nov-13 22:19:07

Oo, I love the idea of a spreadsheet! Someone else do it grin

ShitOnAStick Wed 27-Nov-13 22:24:49

Wednesday is lilac! I actually got irritated reading your op as the colours were all wrong! How ridiculous is that? To me the days of the week are

Monday - red
Tuesday - green
Wednesday- lilac
Thursday - burgundy
Friday - light orangey yellow
Saturday - navy blue
Sunday - Royal blue

Lancelottie Wed 27-Nov-13 22:49:22

Well, DoTheStrand, I think you'll find red is an unpopular choice for a Saturday. sorry.

I feel like a Thunderball announcer: 'and making its first appearance here on a Saturday, the Red ball...'

Wednesday still green by a majority of 27 votes to a mere 11 for orange, but yellow is making a late spurt here with 8 so far.

deste Wed 27-Nov-13 22:51:10

I too thought Wednesday was orange before I read the thread.

GinAndaDashOfLime Wed 27-Nov-13 22:53:48

Wednesday is BLACK!

Monday - light blue
Tuesday - pale yellow
Thursday - purple
Friday - bright yellow
Saturday - orange
Sunday - pale green.

Numbers anyone? 1 = blue, 2 = yellow, 3= dark red ..

MarshaBrady Wed 27-Nov-13 22:56:02

Monday- blue
Tuesday - yellow
Wednesday - orange
Thursday - red
Friday -pink
Saturday -raspberry
Sunday - warm brown

Do you think Orange doing that film day aha stuck for Wednesday. And Friday for sure is pink.

Monty27 Wed 27-Nov-13 22:58:43

Wednesday is Brown.

DeliciousIrony Wed 27-Nov-13 23:16:51

Am I the only one who thinks that Wednesday is red?

Monday = light blue
Tuesday = browny orange
Wednesday = red
Thursday = yellow
Friday = red
Saturday = orange
Sunday = yellow

No green days at all. although I could just about cope with the idea of orange days being purple.

January = Yellow
Feb = Blue
March = yellow
April = Pink
May = Peach
June = Orange
July = Yellow
August = gold
September = Purple
October = Orange
November = Green
December = Red

Beeyump Wed 27-Nov-13 23:19:32

I don't get it for numbers, but do for some place names. For instance, Edinburgh is quite a dark green.

writingquestion Wed 27-Nov-13 23:25:50

Wednesday is light blue.

TheFabulousIdiot Wed 27-Nov-13 23:26:54

Monday -red
Tuesday -yellow
Thursday -blue
Friday-darker green
sunday-I think white too.

TheFabulousIdiot Wed 27-Nov-13 23:30:31

Green seems to be a popular choice for dense day eh! Orange a close second.

seasalt Wed 27-Nov-13 23:38:48

I had never thought about this before but green just came into my head and I see lots of others think so too. Will have to work out the other days now smile

SamHamwidge Thu 28-Nov-13 01:51:08

Weird this isn't it.

Monday - white
Tuesday - pink or orange, a similar colour to Thursday but I think slightly more pinkish
Wednesday - yellow
Thursday - see above, a kind of orangeish colour
Friday - brown
Saturday - white
Sunday - grey

The strongest are Weds which is definitely yellow and Friday which is definitely brown. The others are a bit murky, but with absolute certainty I can say Tuesday and Thursday match each other colour wise as do Saturday and Monday and to a slightly lesser extent Sunday. Not sure why Weds and Fri are so strong.

Has been this way as long as I can remember.

Monday is light blue
Tuesday is yellow
Wednesday is definitely bottle green
Thursday is orangey yellow
Friday is red
Saturday is white
Sunday is grey

SupermansBigRedReindeerNose Thu 28-Nov-13 02:57:29

I want what you lot have envy my mind works by compartments rather than colours, I can quite clearly see when I'm taking things out their filing cabinet in my head when I think hmm

I'd say I'd happily swap for colours but am greedy and would like both grin

JulesJules Thu 28-Nov-13 07:21:31

You could just have your filing cabinets in loads of different colours. That would be great, and kill two birds etc grin

Lancelottie Thu 28-Nov-13 09:22:50

DeliciousIrony -- so far, yes!

Lancelottie Thu 28-Nov-13 09:28:30

Anyone else see colours for colour nouns that are the wrong colour?

I find 'Red' is OK, but 'Green' unfortunately looks pink, 'Blue' is greyish-turquoise, and don't get me started on scarlet and crimson...

Halfling Thu 28-Nov-13 09:36:20

Monday - White
Tuesday - Pink/Orange
Wednesday - Bottle Green
Thursday - Bright Yellow
Friday - Silver
Saturday - Black
Sunday - Red

Beeyump Thu 28-Nov-13 11:42:49

Lancelottie that makes my head hurt! What does scarlet look like? It makes me think of thread/ribbons.

Anyway - today is bottle green Thursday, yayy!

Lancelottie Thu 28-Nov-13 12:04:51

Scarlet, unfortunately, is a very dark red, almost purply. Crimson is light, bright orange.

This is frankly a bugger when it comes to remembering that they're the other way round, near as dammit.

Sometimes it goes with the spelling. Grey is a soft, gentle, pinkish-grey. Gray, on the other hand, is a threatening blue-black...

everlong Thu 28-Nov-13 12:18:00

Green fo sho

Sunshinelaulau Thu 28-Nov-13 12:35:22

Lancelottie I see the weekends as a picnic at the bottom of the hill, all lovely and so very deserving after the week of hill climbingsmile

singaporeswing Thu 28-Nov-13 12:50:00

Yep, definitely green.

MummyBeerest Thu 28-Nov-13 12:52:18

I see Wednesday as an icy blue.

Thursday I agree is green...probably a light green, or bottle green as you say smile

Monday is grey
Tuesday is yellow
Friday is lavender
Saturday pink
Sunday red

I also see months as colours! November is a plum purple, December is a deep red, January is royal blue, February is brown, March is hunter green, April's a champagne, May is soft pink, June is bright yellow, July, an orange, August is auburn, September is a periwinkle blue, October is black.

Interesting. ..

KittiesInsane Sat 30-Nov-13 08:43:58

DS just said that he couldn't see past the end of next year because it was too fuzzy, so I asked him 'What colour is Wednesday?' and got the instant answer 'Navy -- no, more like very dark green'.

Not sure the stats would cope with a sudden Navy.

I've never thought that I had any form of synathesia but Wednesday is definitely green with a kind of bobbly pattern to it!

OP, could we move this somewhere more permanent than Chat, do you think? I'm fascinated by it -- and DS would like to cite a bit of it in a school art project!

Beeyump Sat 30-Nov-13 21:30:03

Of course! I don't know where it should go, but I'll message mumsnet. I'm obviously fascinated by it too grin

I love your DS comment on the end of next year being fuzzy, btw

Wednesday is definitely green - pale and cloudy.

For some reason I don't think of the other days as having colours - I am going to give it some thought though and see if they come to me!

I thought about it after I read 'Born on a Blue Day' which is a great book too actually. He thought Wednesdays were blue I think too.

I think
Monday is White/Yellow like a lightbulb
Tuesday is grey-green
Wednesday is red
Thursday is purple
Friday is gold
Saturday is white
Sunday is brown

AnUnearthlyChild Sun 01-Dec-13 09:46:15

Wednesday is, as quint says a toffee brown colour.

Saturday is crimson
Sunday is a pale orange

Thursday is lime green

Monday is royal blue
Tuesday is steel grey

Friday is a very shiny deep black

AnUnearthlyChild Sun 01-Dec-13 10:02:21

January is white, pure and clear
Feb is light steel grey
March is a watery yellow
April is sort of silvery
May is light green
June is pink
July is royal blue
August is deep green
September is sort of dusty light brown
October deep orange
November is blue black
December is red

I don't have synasthesia unfortunately. Mine are just associations and memory links I think.

School subjects are easy, schoolbook colours
Science brown
English brick red
Geography green
History blue
Maths salmon pink
Music was grey
German orange

I have just had an even odder conversation with my younger son.

His 'day colours' agree with mine except for Saturday, which I have brown/black and he has 'warm orange', and Sunday, which I see as silver and he sees as gold.

Why do so many more people agree that Wednesday is coloured than every other day? Sampling bias, do you think, because of the thread title?

Wednesday is blue because Wednesday's child is full of woe and obviously woes are blue and a cold icy pale blue at that.

Sundays are rainbows, Thursdays are black. I have no opinion on other days of the week really except perhaps Saturday is a warm colour - orange or red or hot pink.

Orangeanddemons Sun 01-Dec-13 15:32:24

Wednesday is brown without a doubt.

Thursday is blue, royal blue

Friday is red

StrawberryMoose Sun 01-Dec-13 15:37:15

No no no no. Wednesday is a bright blue!

All words have colours in my mind but especially names, days, months and numbers.

I have been known to discount a couple of names from our potential baby name list just because I don't like its colour!!

StrawberryMoose Sun 01-Dec-13 15:37:53

Oh yes, also letters of the alphabet.
