Modern/tasteful cross stitch patterns?

Sorry if this has been done before. I have only just discovered this topic and was wondering whether someone might be able to help me.

I would like to buy a cross stitch kit and have looked on the interenet to find a suitable pattern and they all seem quite dated. Does anywhwere sell modern ones (actually i don't think i mean modern, but tasteful at least).

I'd either like a general one that i could frame, or a boy's birth sampler one (although my son is two now so if there any that aren't too babyish that would be better!).

Sorry, i know this request is a bit woolly, and one person's idea of tasteful is not going to be the same as another's, but i'd be grateful for any recommendatons.

Thanks

I think Jolly Red are quite modern and funky

Or buy a cross stitch magazine and peruse the adverts?

Thanks. I do like the look of those - much nicer than the others i've come across. I've ordered just ordered one.

Look at Cross Stitcher magazine - normally some funky rather than traditional patterns in that. They always have a free cover mount kit but they also sell three or four of that month's patterns as kits you can send away for. I've made several things from their patterns now and it's got me back into cross stitch.

You can also search for cross stitch patterns on Etsy - some amazing designs that sellers email you the pattern for a few quid.

The Historical Sampler Company is good for tasteful/traditional designs. Some of their kits are reproductions of 18th/19th Century samplers. Google them!

Folksy (the UK answer to Etsy) probably have a good range of small sellers to choose from.
