I've made christmas cards to sell. They are on pearlescent paper which is not easy to write on with an ordinary biro. Should I put an insert inside made of other paper for the person to write on? I was thinking of maybe tracing paper? Does that sound ok? What would you do?
I think tracing paper would also be difficult to write on - if I were going to use an insert, I'd use 'normal' writing paper

Yes you're right it would have looked nice though some translucent paper. Should I just fold a sheet in half and stick that along one edge like a booklet or stick a piece of paper on the card writing side?

Ok, so you've just received a handmade card as above , you've open it, now think.. what do you like to see, another plain paper insert inside with the writing, or a cut out rectangle of white paper stuck inside. Personally I'm liking the idea of the paper insert but can't decide so need some opinions Thanks. This is only for cards that aren't easy to write on like the pearlescent, on normal card I would just leave it blank.

You could always write with a permanent pen, that should write on anything.

Yes thanks. The cards won't have any message inside, the insert or paper idea is for the person who buys the card to write their own one.

I make cards to sell, and although I usually use "normal" card, on the odd few pearlescent ones I do just leave them as they are. I know the nice gel pens don't usually work on that sort of card, but surely a biro would? If even a biro wouldn't work I would probably do a paper insert - maybe tied with ribbon down the fold, or a thin line of double sided sellotape to hold it in place HTH

Thank you colander, I made some cards for my friend's stall as she wanted come christmas cards to put on her jewellery stall, but stupidly didn't think about the writing in the card bit when I made them all out of pearlescent card. I like the ribbon idea and using the double sided I will give both a go.
