Anyone ever made a pouch sling?

I really want to make a pouch sling as it seem fairly easy. I want to make it from fleece and use the machine to sew it but will I need elastic thread? and if I do is there a particular kind I need for the machine?
I have to say I'm only an enthusiastic amateur when it comes to sewing.

It's easy peasy. you don't need elastic thread, you just choose the stitch on yur machine that's some zigzags and some straight stitches (I think - or it's differen sizes of zigzag? Anyway, it's the one for sewing stertchy things).

You need to check that the fleece is stretchiest across the short (width) of the sling and not the length. Other than that, it's a piece of cake. There are loads of instructions ont he internet.

cool, thanks so much! I had invented loads of ways to improve my ring sling but when I saw the pouches I thought they would be brilliant.
I've found a pattern on the internet that looks easy to follow.

I so totally ROCK! I made one today and it turned out great. I made a cotton one first out of a sheet and it was fine but not nearly as confortable to wear as the fleece. The fleece also looks better on.
I put a pocket on and a little cow button to break up the colour too.
Here's a picture

It was very easy to make! I bought the fleece on Ebay for £3.99 and I've enough to make 2 and a little left over to make a little 'blankie'.
It only took about an hour and I did it while I was in charge of two 4 year old boys .

So anyone who know's me and is pg you now know what you're getting once your baby's born

I used this page for the pattern. I found the fleece far easier to make it with than cotton.

Thanks for the link, have been looking into a sling for the new baby, but didn't really want to splash out in case I didn't like it but an hour at the sewing machine and some left over fabric and I have a lovely new sling. The instructions are really clear too. Now I just need a baby to test it out...
