Can anyone reccomend a bag pattern that's free and looks really good please?

I have some vintage velvet fabric with a print on it and there's enough to make a small messenger bag or similar....I've made bags to my own pattern before but they always look a bit rubbish and homemade.

I'd like a simple pattern because I get confused over measurements etc.
