I want to knit a moss stitch jumper

But I'm not sure where to get a pattern. Ideally I want to use aran weight yarn.

Just a fairly basic crew or funnel neck pattern, nowt fancy

Any ideas?

I assume you have searched Ravelry?

You can also work out the size your miss stitch is compared to stockinette using gauge swatches and do math for normal Aran patterns in the round, as long as you make sure you have an odd no stitches in a round (knitting in the round) or an even number (knitting back and forth)

Have you tried Ravelry? Loads and loads of free patterns on there and a really good search tool! I would personally steer clear of moss stitch as it would drive me batty Smile

I think you'll go insane given how slow moss stitch is to do. However, if you wanted to, you could start with something like Flax and just do moss instead of stockinette?

Alternatively this is designed in moss stitch (NB American moss stitch is a bit different from what I think we would call moss stitch, which they would call seed stitch). You need to register with the Drops site but the pattern is free.

Wow, well found! That's exactly what I was hoping to find, thanks!

But I have no patience. Maybe I'm kidding myself.

What about adapting the pattern to have Moss stitch at top and/or bottom and sticking stitch in between? Would that work?

It's not very readily available, however - the books are all out of print. Although you might be able to order through your library?

Maybe a moss stitch yoke or upper torso band (not sure what to call it) like this, only scaled up to adult size.

There are a couple of Vogue pattern books listed on eBay. This for example.
