Advice on repairing a lacey knit blanket

I have offered to mend a very old hand-knitted lace blanket for a friend. I have done most of if but am struggling with this pattern - I know it is quite simple really and perhaps I just need to concentrate but I just wondered if anyone has an existing pattern or if you have any advice for me please? Actually, just being able to enlarge the pattern, having taken pics helps, I think. Still any advice much appreciated please, I really want to do a good job! First pic shows a complete pattern, second the damaged one ( fairly obvious this, I think,)
Many thanks

Thanks. Actually, the yarn is mostly ok. I have found some yarn which is a pretty good match - the blanket is I was thinking of trying to pick up at the bottom and re knitting, joining in the yarn on each row as necessary, I know I can do it, I just can't quite work out how! It's a great project though!
