Copic marker pens........whats a good alternative?

My daughter is doing a 2 yr art and design course and asked me today to buy her some copic markers for drawing with as she says they are really good. Looked on Amazon and they are £26 for 12!! Simply can`t afford it, can anyone recommend some others please?

I think letraset pro markers are similar but a bit cheaper.
