Can / should I transfer this pencil sketch on to canvas?

Hiya

I've done this sketch, and I have a blank canvas. I know how to make the transfer (by colouring in the back of the paper, is that right? I've never done it before) and I have acrylic paint.

Is it a good or bad idea to do this? I don't want to ruin the original sketch by colouring in the back for the canvas job to turn out shit. It's going to be a gift so I want to get it right.

What do you think? Does anyone have any ideas or tips? I'm thinking I might not get clean lines using acrylic? Or I could just use pencil on canvas? I'm a novice so don't know very much about it. Any advice would be really appreciated. Thanks
