Absorbant fabrics?

Hiya I'm looking for cheap, absorbant fabrics - is this this stuff any good? It doesn't need to be hardcore absorbant, just enough for drool. I have looked at towelling and flanneling, but its a bit too expensive for what I'm after.

What do you need it for? All natural fabrics are absorbant, but most have a finish on them, which can prevent full absorbancy. You can get stuff without finishes from certain places. I'm a textile technology teacher, so know LOTS about this! I can give you suppliers name if you want, much cheaper than anywhere else.

poly/cotton not as absorbant as plain cotton.

I'm looking for a fabric to make drool cloths for - small face flannel sized rags that dog owners keep handy w/breeds like bassets, to mop up the inevitable drool that occurs.. Ewww I know!

Try this, unfortunately they don't do towelling which I am very suprised at.

Yeah! did it. That pillow cotton should be alright, although jersey would be better, as knitted fabrics are more absorbant, but the jersey is hideously expensive.
Towelling is a problem, it is quite hard to get hold of,..urm..terry nappies(?)

I looked at nappies, but they aren't really any cheaper, and as most of them are shaped, I can't make as many.

Just looked on line. Towelling is very expensive isn't it? Phone that company, they often have stuff hanging around and are very helpful

Thanks for the reply. I will give them a ring. I've found a place where I can get plain white facecloths for 20p each, so I've ordered one to check the quality. All I need now is a ribbon stockist!

I have some flannel on the way too - bought some cheap, new sheets on ebay !!
