I'm going to make a baby blanket for some good friends who are expecting their first. Grin

I'm thinking of doing a ripple (attic24 pattern) of mostly cream with red, yellow, blue and green stripes. Probably 2 cream, 1 colour: repeat to end.

What do you think?

I have itchy trigger fingers for ordering wool! Blush

I like the colours:)
Go for it, I would have loved one for my DD, such a nice thing to do.

Thanks! :)

I was wondering if I should add in orange and purple too - make it more of a rainbow blanket?
I don't think they'll be finding out the sex so blanket will need to be gender neutral.

I like the orange, but I wouldn't be so keen on plum, it's a difficult colour, I think. :)

Purple is tricky - I think plum is too dark, magenta isn't quite right either though. Hmmm Confused

Why not stick to the original colours you chose, I really like them :)

I would stick to the original colours, they are simple, but will look fantastic and be suitable for either sex.

I'm sitting here with the Attic24 pack of 17 colours delivered today. I've got out your original 4 plus white and think it's a pretty good combination.

Will have a fiddle about and see if any of the others fit in well.

You need natural light really.

I prefer pomegranate to lipstick (I have used this entire set before BTW), but if you make that switch the blue is then a bit dark and you need to switch to cloud blue.

I've just received my 17 colours today too!

Are you doing the stripey blanket WhoKnows? I can't wait to start.

Your colours are lovely OP.

I'm halfway through the Granny strip but keep borrowing bits out of it so I decided to order a duplicate set and base future projects on them to coordinate. Photos coming up.

Your originals, followed by the pomegranate/cloud blue subsitution followed by a rainbow of lavender, aster, cloud blue, spring green, saffron, shrimp and lipstick. My cat is fascinated!

I think seven colours is a good number for a multicolour blanket, have done several.

whoknows - thank you for that! Thanks
I like your second colours pic - the pomegranate looks more pink online than in your pic. Is it more pink than red in RL?

Anyhow now I'm not sure about the yellow as it looks super bright. How about these? Confused

I think I've also decided to stick with the 4 colours and a neutral base rather than a full on rainbow.

You are all so much more helpful than colour blind dh! :)

The yellow is fabulous, one of my favourites out of the whole lot. It's a bit more muted than those pics suggest. I'll do a daylight pic in a minute.

Lipstick, saffron, pomegranate in daylight

The yellow looks very bright in all the photos. It is a really warm, egg-yolky yellow. I actually think Lipstick jars slightly compared to all the rest of the colours, it is possibly the only one I would leave out if I was starting the granny stripe again.

Lovely colour scheme. I suggest saffron, meadow, pomegranate and bluebell.

Lemon may be a bit pale in comparison to the others, so I'd go with saffron (I think it looks quite orangey on its own, but next to anything else it's yellow). Meadow and pomegranate are good (pomegranate's a 'soft' red rather than pink; lipstick's probably a bit too bright), and I recommend bluebell - 'softer' than aster, brighter than cloud blue.

Lemon is very pale. It is very much a "baby pastel" colour if that makes sense.

Hmmmm. I'm even more undecided now!

Is it the bluebell or the aster that has a purple tinge to it? I'm sure I ordered one ages ago and it was too purple toned. Confused

Bluebell is slightly purple. Lavender is close to bluebell but more purple.

I'm doing a rainbow in lipstick, spice, saffron, meadow, aster, wisteria and magenta at the moment, I love them together. I love your original combination with the cream, too!

bluebell goes beautifully with shrimp. surprisingly. I don't like shrimp at all, but combined it with bluebell, turquoise, and saffron, and it looked fab, all zingy.

Suddengeekgirl - you will just have to buy all the colours mentioned on this thread, then decide

...and you will have bought enough to get free delivery from certain online retailers

...and you will have enough left over to participate in a number of the Woolly Hugs projects.

Simples! Grin
