if you were to make this blanket for a baby, say for the pram, how many chains would you start with?

Chain til it looks about right and add 6 or so. When you've done your first row of proper stitches, you can undo any left over chains and weave the end in.

Hello, thank you. Cherry I'd love to see your blanket, would you be able to post a photo? Smile

Remember the edging will add about 4-5cm in length and width if you do the Attic24 one - it is fairly easy and looks fab.

I managed to miss 2 stitches in the middle hence the curve Hmm. Also started with 90 stitches. Would look nice with a shorter starting chain and striped across the width.

Have you looked on ravelry?

I make a point of recording how many stitches I started with and the finished dimensions of the blanket. This is partly for my own use and partly for other people.

I've found it useful when I'm trying to recreate something as I often veer wildly off pattern. I haven't done the granny strip though so can't help - sorry!
