I have 3 children all under the age of 6. I have loads of photos and newspaper cuttings etc and am interested in making some scrapbooks. Can anyone reccomend any web sites that are good for a beginner in this subject. I know nothing at all about this but am very keen to learn. TIA

Have you tried ukscrappers.co.uk ???

It's a general forum on scrapping and you can see others works of art.

Happy scrapping!!!

There are loads of magazines available from WHSmiths that are full of tips, techniques and ideas...also a good range of online and RL shops who advertise in there.

Try Scrapbook Inspirations, Creative Scrapbooking, Scrapbook Magazine....Oh there are loads to choose from.

Happy scrappin'

I really like Scrapbook magazine and find it very straightforward. UKscrappers is HUGE and quite daunting at first. I still haven't got to grips with it! There are also lots of good books about - I've got one called Scrapbooking your favourite family memories which is good for beginners. try the magazines first for inspiration or ask at your local craft shop they'll be able to give you good advice about products you might need / want!!

Most of all just have fun!

thankyou all.. I really am a total beginner. I havent a clue where to start or where to buy the basic materials. I shall pop into WH Smiths and have a look at the mags and also look at the web sites you have suggested. Thanks again

My local WH Smith has just started selling a few scrapbooking bits and pieces - stickers, acid free card, ribbons, pretty papers etc so that's probably your best bet then!

I only started in February.

I got myself an album, some 12x12 papers and then some extra fancy bits (like stick ons, transfers, embellishments, pretty papers to back photos on) to start with. And I found a paper trimmer was really useful to as I can't cut straight with scissors.

E-bay has loads of stuff on there.

Lots of ordinary shops, not just craft ones, sell scrapbooking materials - Asda, Tescos, Wilkinsons, Boots, John Lewis...

the docrafts website (will fetch a link in a mo) is good for beginners I think, and as their stuff is widely available it's a good base.

I can give you a few links to suppliers I trust, too- hang on:

docrafts

this place has a gallery for ideas and does workshops

craftsulove

The Range are good if you have one near you, and there's always HobbyCraft. Even Wilkinsons and big tesco stores do somethings these days!
