Quilt making up-date

Thanks to the people who answered my questions. I have finished my first patchwork quilt. After realising how difficult it was to quilt a king size quilt using a domestic sewing machine I settled for "stitch in the ditch".
I am very pleased with the results, plus it's lovely and warm on my bed.

Congratulations! It is great you have got it finished so quickly and can use it. I admire anybody who can get on with a job and not leave it as a work in progress for years!

Well done for quilting in the ditch. That is actually quite hard to do well, even if it seems the easiest option with a standard domestic machine. I like the effect it has though and I bet it looks very cosy on your bed.

What are you planning to do next, if you can face doing another one?! Grin

a king size!......Brilliant!

I'm currently 35 + years into making a hand stitched 'Grandma's Flower Garden' and don't think it'll be finished anytime soon. But I do enjoy stitching a few pieces when watching the TV.

Have you any pics of your quilt as I'd love to see it nosy . And yes, what's your next project?

OOh, lovely!

Simple instructions on the assumption your pic is already loaded to computer.

These instructions are the ones I follow on my computer, hopefully yours will be the same or similar.

*Decide which pic you're going to upload and know where it is on your computer.
*Hover over 'My Mumsnet' (on R/hand side) and click on 'My Photos'.
*Click on 'upload pics'
*Click on browse button.
*Go to where your pic details are on computer and click on them - eg is it in a folder, or your desktop.

  • Click on 'open'.
    *then click on 'send'.

Thanks for the instructions Shimmer. I have managed to put a photo on, but it's appeared upside twice!

That's good, but you need to make your photo profile public before we can see them. So if you go to your photo page or profile page (not sure which) there should be a link for you to use.

Shimmering - thanks for the kind comment. Good luck with your quilt. I'm returning to my quarter completed cross-stitch.

Lovely colours. Just my sort of thing. I wish you could enlarge MN photos so we could have a proper look but it looks gorgeous from what I can see. Smile
