Out of Print Pattern - Anyone seen anything like this?

This is the ideal pattern for making DDs dance dresses, but it is out of print. I've scoured ebay and amazon and no joy.

The dress is quite simple but is supposed to be

  • close round neck
  • princess seamed bodice
  • drop waist

Has anyone come across anything similar?

Thanks

this if she is a little girl.

Thanks ICame, that would be perfect and even better that it is free, just a shame that she is in 11-12 clothes.

I might have a stab at pattern grading though.

Vogue 8020 is similar, although you'd probably need to Frankenpattern the neckline from another pattern.

Or Simplicity 4675. That one's out of print as well but there do seem to be plenty of copies available.

If she doesn't have a bust, you could certainly work on grading up Jitney's pattern using current clothing as a guide and get great results. If she has a bust you probably can't.

this if you could make the skirt a bit fuller?

Brilliant suggestions thank you all so much.

This is the kind of thing that I need to make but less garish I don't have several hundred pounds

Going from your first picture, I have Simplicity 7781 Girl size 12. Probably from the 1970s. Looks the job, and has little bust darts.

See if you can find a picture.

Could you do 'fake' princess seams with a couple of rows of stitching? It all depends on her boobage! :)

It is actually for Irish dancing, then? I think those skirts are constructed a bit differently so you'd need to hack the pattern about a bit.

You may find this thread on dance.net (and possibly also this one) useful.

harbinger that looks like exactly what I want - massive thanks Flowers now off to see if I can find it.

Pacha - yes it is, for my sins. I've had a good look at the skirt construction on several dresses from others at the school so I know I have my work cut out, thanks for those links Flowers

Don't worry about finding it!

The size 12 is 30". I will need to measure the pattern to see how much ease there is in it. Are you happy adapting it?

The one I have is new, I suspect I grew out of it and my DM had to buy a bigger one! (Was for dancing, but not like nowadays.)

Let me know if you are interested.
