Card weight - gsm

Is 280gsm OK for cards? Does the size of the card make a difference to its weight (so an A4 piece of 280gsm is thicker than an A3 piece of 280gsm) or did I get that wrong? Can't do numbers

Hunker - the weight is grammes per square meter - so the size of your cs does not matter - it is purely a measure of the thickness/weight of the cs.

280 is ok for card making ime - 300 is better if you might be putting a lot of heavy embellies on it - it takes the weight a bit better.

From the sounds of it you are doing a lot of handdrawn cards (very envious of your ability to draw ) so 280 should be absolutely fine for this!

I've bought some online, but it's not very thick at all (definitely not card-making quality), so I just wanted to check I'd not made a huge mistake about the weight before I kicked up a fuss

I've put a couple of the hand drawn ones on the yahoo site - I didn't draw the snail (DH did) - and I know the cake's wonky

I have 8 packs of white A4 200gsm (bought at an auction for 6.00) which are quite light, however if you pad out the inside where the words go with another piece of card matted on coloured paper, it balances out ok. I do tend to use heavy embellishments.

I think that 280gsm is the perfect weight for cards. Sounds like good thick quality card. But as a rule of thumb anything over 220 is brilliant. Had to post my bit coz' am feeling brainy this morning.
