I thought we needed a thread to chat about our current projects, future projects and obscenely large yarn stashes!

I'm working on some lace gloves and a jumper for when the gloves annoy me too much. I've realised that the last 5 projects I've made have been purple so clearly I need some non purple yarn asap!

I am currently working on a jumper for DH that I'm anticipating will take around 19 years to finish. I am also making a cotton shopping bag for a friend. It is her birthday in a week so it better be finished soon!

I just moved house and now pretty much have a whole room for my yarn!

The jumper I'm working on is for me, unfortunately I'll probably be too pregnant to wear it when it's done :(

I would love to have a whole room for yarn. I have actually considered moving ds1 (19) out to the shed, so I could have his room - but apparently that is considered unreasonable.

I'm in the middle of a couple of projects at the moment - I am knitting a tunic jumper, in cream aran weight yarn, making the pattern up as I go along, but I've put that aside for the moment, in favour of crochet - I am making a patchwork, random blanket in purple, lime green, rust, cerise, turquoise, teal and yellow. It is quiet and shy. Like me.

My next project will be a waterfall cardigan in King Cole Galaxy yarn (the one with the sequins already threaded on). I won a yarn stash from Knit Now magazine, including 12 balls of the Galaxy in cerise, and I am going to knit the cardigan to go over my favourite maxi dress, so I can wear it to my nursing course reunion in the autumn.

I namechanged this week to prompt myself to get on with a jumper for my son. It's my ever first fair-isle pattern so my new name is a total fraud!

Well, it's really the study but seeing as no one will be doing any work in there I have claimed it as my knitting room.

Good luck with the fair isle! Sounds a bit too complicated for me still. This jumper is the first "big" project I've attempted so hopefully it goes well!

I'm knitting a shawl for my niece which taking forever. I have just finished a game for my friends ds, finished the pouch this morning.
I'm knitting a scarf for my partners dad, but I have until winter to finish it. It's garter stitch so I get bored with it quickly.
Next I'm practicing some lace patterns so there will be plenty of lace bookmarks for christmas presents.

I want to do my leg warmers but have had to give up because I keep forgetting where I am with the rib stitch (very sleep deprived).

I just finished the bag (it's a "market bag" apparently) so back to working on DH's jumper. I need something else to do when the jumper gets tedious, any ideas? Some patterned socks maybe.

I am currently knitting 2 sets of angry birds for Team Survival on behalf of Woolly hugs. I'm one red bird in. 5 to go! I need to have them finished early August.

I tend to stick to short patterns because I lose interest quite quickly.

I do, however have the yarn and pattern to do an elizabeth zimmerman baby surprise jacket. Baby due in October.

My stash isn't quite a room full, but I've only been knitting for 18 months and my stash is rather large.

I'm trying to psych myself up to finish a 'boneyard shawl' knitted in denim yarn which I didn't remember I had (I know I bought it years ago because the price ticket says £1.95 per ball). It's easy to do but for that reason, slightly boring. The bigger it gets, the loooooonger each row is. I'm tempted to call it a day as it's probably big enough, but the yarn will shrink, possibly quite a lot, so I'm slightly nervous about stopping too soon.

I don't have a wool room but I do have a rather large laundry basket full of yarn and a subsidiary one, plus odds and ends secreted around the house

However, in my defence I have almost finished a ripple blanket and made a baby quilt for a friend...

But does look like that kind of thing I would get bored with.

Just started the back of the jumper, already done the hood, this will be the longest part so getting it out of the way ASAP.

I'm not actually a knitter but I've just got some needles and yarn and have bought a knitting for dummies book so I'm hoping to learn.

You tube is your friend! Knit with Judy is one I've used. Take things slow.

I started by signing up for one of the woolly hug blankets in February last year. My squares weren't square nor very good, but were done with love.

Now I'm knitting angry birds! I'm an addict!

Can I join too? I have jut started knotting for te first time in almost 30 years. I an knitting an owl- following a pattern in a knitting mag I bought at the weekend. I am on attempt 2- the first one went very wrong.....

6 rows in, going quite well!

Actually, I'm pretty sure I can figure out the pattern, but it's years since I've knitted and I'm out of the loop with regards to suppliers etc. and I've no idea of the weight of wool I'd need, or needle size. I just know the chunkier the better and I suspect standard 'chunky knit' wouldn't cut it!

Any clues?

Argh! I just wrote a huge post linking you to patterns on ravelry //www.ravelry.com of similar cushions. But as I was flicking between pages it all went! Patterns usually give a recommended wool and needle size. So it's a starting point for you. Be careful, time moves faster when browsing ravelry! Best thing is many patterns are free! :)

//Www.Deramores.com is a good online retailer, if pricey. And //www.blacksheepwools.com and //www.mcadirect.com are two others I would recommend. And then there is good old eBay too. Aileens wool shop in there is also very good.

I am currently knitting Peerie flooers which is a Kate Davis pattern, I want to start the mittens but am a bit scared of the beginning bit!it includes the words "provisional cast on", am going to have consult youtube again!

I'm making 6 yo son a jumper using Elizabeth Zimmerman percentage system. Nearly finished the body and thinking about a pattern for yoke (maybe peerie flooers pattern).

Madratlady I dare you to steek it and make a cardigan instead

Marking my place as I think I need to join somewhere to chat about my projects so that they are actually worked on! I have just put up 4 shelves in my corner in mine and DP's room which are stuffed full of yarn like you'd see at a yarn shop, I love it, so colourful and my yarn is ready to be used. All cheapy acrylic on the shelves for toys though. ealous of susu's whole room :(

Currently working on/starting:

Pterodactyl: for a Mnetters little boy. I promised her this back in February Got disheartened by the colour scheme and gave up. I want to redo it this week.

A giant Plesiosaur: for DP and I

A crocodile: for my 2.7yo charge who is obsessed by them

I have a load of stylecraft special too which I'd like to start knitting a Woolly Hug with but still haven't really managed to crack larger items yet.

feegle I second Knit with Judy, she's brilliant!

I like texereyarns for supplies. They always get yarn to me quickly. They do good deals on my toy yarn though, I use Deramores for other bits and pieces as texere don't have a massive range unfortunately!
