Crochet wool advice

So thanks to some excellent suggestions a few months back by some lovely arts and carft MNers I have begun to get my head around some simple crochet bits.

I'm working up to making DD a blanket and have my eye on Attics24's beautiful ripple I've made a little sample and think I could actually do it :)

Now, I received an incredibly kind Amazon gift voucher in my MN secret santa and would like to put it towards the wool for the blanket. I can't find all the colours required in the recommended Stylecraft on Amazon so wondered if anyone had any suggestions of what else I could have a look at?

I'm thinking either a similar multi bright colourscheme to the one in the link, or a pink/purple theme with a variety of shades.

This is my first real "big" project so I don't know much about different types of wool etc so I'm at a bit of a loss where to begin so if anyone could point me in the right direction I'd be ever so grateful!

I have made this but I just went along to the local wool shop. I find it easier to match colours. It is a fab design!! I went for stylecraft I think; not too expensive.
With that design, I made a few errors now and again, and my blanket got wider than it should, so I had to start again. Smile

Might be worth ringing Deramores. They sell on amazon and they might be able to tell you when/if the other colours will be in stock. They're very good with customer service.

I got the Deramores StyleCraft Colour pack for Christmas so I could make this blanket too. Crochet-a-long anyone?

Chinwag I think I would find it much easier in person too but I'm really struggling to find anywhere locally that has much in stock.

All my bits I've bought so far for practicing have come from Wilkinsons and Dunelm as they are literally the only places in town that have anything wooly in stock. There used to be a lovely little Singer sewing maching shop I remember from my childhood but it shut down about 5 years ago now. :(

Crafty thanks for the tip, I'd never of thought to ring them, may give that a try. It just seemed logical in my head to use the voucher for Amazon as its the sort of thing that I just won't get round to spending "real" money on in a rush as things are a bit tight at the moment.

Ooh Seabright let me know if you start. I'm very new and still quite rubbish so am very much working my way up to it! We're off to Center Parcs for a week at the end of Feb so I think I may make it my aim to be well underway by then.
