Decorating/rescuing cot

We're about to turn Ds's cot bed back into a cot for dd. After 4 years, it's past its best. I've looked into safe paints to use but thought it might be nice to cover the head and foot boards in nice paper, especially to hide the remnants of numerous stickers.

Brief research suggests PVA is safe to use. Do you think using PVA under and over nice wrapping paper will work? Or will it look naff and come off? Ie something like this.

I think you may need the Arts and Crafts board on here - they know all about decopatch (or however it's spelt!) I think from what remember pva may yellow over time but that board will be able to help.

We had an old cot for dd1 (and then dd2) which we redecorated. Basically we painted it white with red highlights and then did teddy stencils (like the wall ones) on the ends.

What kind of paint did you use DeWe? The cheapest I found that is safe for babies was £19, which I don't think is too bad but the colours were limited.

Beautiful range of colours to choose from at www.nurserypaint.co.uk/. The paints are VOC free so safe for baby.'Milk time' white is lovely on a cot if it needs freshening up ??
