I've decided to learn to crochet. Have read blogs, watched tutorials, become inspired.

Yesterday I bought practise yarn and a hook.

I have just sat down for the first time today - toddler and baby asleep, DH working late.

I have the video to follow on the iPad. I have a ball of yarn. I have sent the dog to bed.

And I must have left the crochet hook at the till yesterday.

sad sad sad

Where do you live Norks? If you're anywhere near Carlisle I could come and teach you.

I'm very patient grin. I have taught some of our most cack-handed year 7s to crochet ok looking granny squares. If they can do it, so can you!!!

I'm very unscary too pregnant to waddle onto my broom at the moment and we have cake wink

I'm also very southern for lessons, although it'll have to be this month if I'm to guarantee meet ups. Otherwise hire me someone to do piecework for you...

Crochet is very forgiving, so in a way much less scary than knitting. Go for it!

Norks, if you're serious, I'd love your hooks. Am often teaching groups of kids/adults at home thingies to crochet and some spare hooks would come in very handy smile I'll PM you if you're still wanting rid of them.

Have pm'd you twice, norks as iPad told me it hadn't worked! Let me know if it you don't get it smile

Flamingo THANK YOU
Pigj you are a chochet goddess, but I think you have enough on your plate without dealing with me smile

I'll be stuck on my arse with a hook for the next month or so, need something to keep my brain alive wink

PurplePidjin Fri 02-Nov-12 08:29:03

Plus, MrsY's blanket was handed over to Pistey on Wednesday so i just have Christmas pressies and fun stuff on the hook now

8Pidj* i am trying to PM you but it's gone loopy. I can REPLY to PMs, so would you kindly PM me?

PurplePidjin Fri 02-Nov-12 16:47:44

Mathsdidi Sun 04-Nov-12 23:07:52

wait I will happily teach you. Pm me and we can arrange to meet up. It will ahve to be a weekend as I'm at work all week, and I might need to bring my 2yo as well (depends on dp's plans)

I'm like Norks, I have such lovely pictures in books of things I want to crochet. But. I. Can't. Do. It. It drives me insane. I can knit (scarves, but still), I can sew, everything else crafty but I just can't crochet. I let the dog have the last thing I attempted. I want to whip up a natty flower in a spare 15 minutes or squares to make a blanket. A want a kindly folk to teach me. Whilst we eat cake and drink tea.

PurplePidjin Mon 05-Nov-12 08:05:35

Tufty, my approximate location is on my profile. Any use? I'm on a bit of a time limit what with being 36+3 but I'm sure we can sort something out grin

Lovely flamingo is going to take me on as a sort of charity challenge if we can ever find a day to meet up.
she is a very brave witch smile

PurplePidjin Mon 05-Nov-12 21:14:09

Yay grin

FlamingoBingo Tue 06-Nov-12 07:00:30

PurplePidjin Tue 06-Nov-12 08:31:37

Norks I was exactly the same as you. Just don't get it, teacher couldn't get me to get it.
Would like to though and might try again in the new year!

TuftyFinch Sat 10-Nov-12 23:10:31

Purple, I'll have a look when the horses are here to power up the laptop! Very kind offer, although with your imminent arrival I'm sure you'll have more than enough to do!

PurplePidjin Sun 11-Nov-12 08:46:51

You have pm, tufty, that only requires Hammy hamster in his wheel wink

One time I lost a crochet hook - found it when I sat down one day and the hook went through my finger! I was too squeamish to pull it back through, so went running out the front door and asked the first person I saw (neighbour's husband) to pull it out while I buried my face in his shoulder. Don't think his wife was too impressed smile
