I would like to go to a crop but I haven't found one near to me.

The price I would pay would depend on where it was and what was provided (e.g. drinks, all materials etc). Probably between £5 and £10- if I felt that I was learning new things and/or having a good laugh.

If it's near to me then I'd come- (but probably won't be)

I know of a local one, but they charge £5 for coffee and cake (I don't want cake!). It's a knitting group.

I started a thread once to whinge about it, actually.

I'd like to go to one for me and the children too. We used to do this when I was a child (family art workshop, it was called - I think they had a proper workshop) and it was great. I'd love to do something like that with my children.

My mum goes to an monthly craft day - £6 for the day which includes lunch. You take your own materials though.

Used to joint run a popular one in Somerset, it was featured in one of the mags six months or so ago but I was pretty much written out of it due to slightly control freak nature of other lady- funny really, was in my house for long enough at my expense!!!

We didn't charge too much, £1.50 it was but that was aprtly because we got cheap rent. We did try to put it up to £2 to cover teas but they refused- not the most generous of people!.

Mainly we attracted pensioners, specifically pergamano mad pensioners. Don't know why that was. We di also have a newish member when I left, Sarah who runs the Cheddar Stamper internet site, and she was really helpful (recommend site).

We used to give people tea when they arrived and cheapo biscuits (finances that was). Then we'd do a show and tell on a specific theme, eg Males Birthday. Then we'd do a demo- we had somebody from the Quillers Guild one week, I did triple Embosing, that sort of thing. Because of finances, we made up little equipment bags of enough to make a card and sold them for a £1 - £2.50 depending on contents, it was up to them if they wanted to buy and join in, or just observe. A bag would typically contain a versamark ink pad, a foam stamp and a small amount of powder, or home made quilling apper (shredder, 20p tool and a blank.

The groups were popular. We did allow under fives because our venue suited it and we were in the day, that helped. Holidays, etc were unreliable and a couple of times we barely covered the rent though.

I think £3.50 an hour is about right TBH, it's what DS1 pays for his art class which appears to basically be card making.

I've been asked to set up anotherclub here. I ignored it at first but the request was repeated with an offer of help last week and now I'm umming and aahing about it. The only bad bit TBH was the constatnt noise- I'm very sensitive to noise- and you couldn't shut up the older ladies long enough to do anything some weeks. Grrr. Rude when you have a demo planned.

Oh and we went three weekly on request, but that was rubbish coz i could never remember the right date! make it memorable- 1st Tuesday of the month or whatever if you want people to come. Fortnight is OK, weekly is overload. You'll run out of ideas and old biddies.

I'd love something like that to go to. I don't think I'd even expect very much for my money but a small fee to incl coffee plus extra for "Stuff" sounds like the best way to go to me.

this is the site of the lady who strated it with me she now runs a virtual online group too. She's very honest Lorraine, so don't send here anything if you can't take the criticism, but she'll say she likes things too! Lovely, lovely lady. We lost touch when I had my agoraphobia (I didn't tell anyone) but I miss her. If anyone goes on the site, say hello from Peachyclair!

Hi
I would definately come along to it but not sure what area you are in. Nobody on here seems to come from Northampton!
I have thought about setting one up too but not a clue where to start.

I would be prepared to pay upto £5 and I think bags to make a couple of cards is a great idea.

Hope it all goes well! Good Luck
