Looking for advice, bad scan result :(

Hi all, according to my dates (LMP) I should be 9 weeks. Had an early scan today and am measuring more like 6 weeks and midwife said that in her experience it's unlikely to progress, although she put "uncertain viability" on my notes. I'm going back again on Friday for another scan to confirm and then have to decide what to do.

A tiny part of me is wondering if the dates are mixed up but to be honest I don't see how they can be - I know the first date of my last period and I know the day we did the deed as DH was away the week after.

My problem is its Christmas so if things don't start naturally I don't know whether to go for the pills option on the day I go for the scan or to wait for after Christmas and hope nothing happens inbetween when we are staying with family.

wondered if anyone had been through similar and could advise what they decided on?

Thanks in advance.

Hey. I personally would wait to see what happens. Friday they wouldn't give you anything for it i don't think. They'd have to confirm it all then refer you for the drugs to kick start it (unless they do it differently where you are). If it hasn't happened and they offer you the medication on Friday just bear in mind you will be bleeding Christmas Day (the pain and actual miscarrying takes around 6-8hours would be over but you'll bleed for a week). If you don't take it then you run the risk of your body doing it naturally and that can happen at any point. I'd be inclined to do it Friday if I had the option, rather than spend the whole of Christmas Day with family and worrying about it. Flowers sorry you're dealing with this. I lost at a similar time to you. Xx

thank you for your reply and sorry to hear you went through it to. Yes I think I will wait til Friday and maybe do it then if I can and if not wait til after Christmas and just hope nothing happens inbetween!

Such a confusing time especially since my pregnancy symptoms have been getting stronger in the last couple of days.

ah I'm so sorry :(

Thank you. My cycles have been a bit mad lately - between 25 and 35 days! - but I'm pretty sure I know when we conceived so can't see the dates being wrong.

I just find it easier to have a plan I think, bit of a control freak over here.
Thanks for taking the time
to comment and share your story, much appreciated x

I'm the same planning wise. If you are offered it should it be bad news id say do it. Christmas is going to be shit this year. That's a given. At least on Christmas Day the worst will be over and you'll know where you are. Good luck for Friday. I'll be thinking of you xx
