Hi, can anyone tell me if they have had a nifty test, and if the results were accurate? So if your nifty result was negative, was the baby born without downs syndrome? Experiences on this will be very helpful to me at the moment.

I thought NIFTY (like Harmony) was diagnostic?

hi, as far as I understand they screen the dna in the blood. so do you mean if it's diagnostic it'll be an accurate result?

I think so - I didn't have it but think you get a clear yes/no for the screened conditions, rather than a 1 in xxx result.

This link (to our local clinic) says it's over 99% accurate. I imagine there's always room so error, so that's pretty good.

I had Harmony which is pretty much the same thing. Different companies, same technology more or less.

My NT screening was 1 in 5, Harmony was 1 in 10,000. Baby did not have Down Syndrome.

A friend had a 1 in 2 for her NT screen and a negative Harmony. Her baby does not have Down Syndrome either.

Technically it's not diagnostic, but for negatives relating to Down Syndrome, it's pretty much as close as it can be. 1 in 10,000 in fact, hence the number you get.

It's less reliable for positive results, and other trisomies, but still far more accurate than the NT screening for those.
