Mild period like pain 37/38 weeks

Have just started getting mildish period like pain in baby area. Have thought for a couple of days that bump seems to have dropped.

It could just be needing a poo and being unable though as also feels a bit like that (sorry for too much info!).

Any thoughts?

I'm not an expert and a long time since I was pregnant, but sounds like the baby's head might be engaging. Could also be Braxton Hicks contractions?

Was thinking it might by Braxton hicks as it was a lot like contractions. I never had them with dd 1 so didn't know what they were like.

Have been thinking that the head has engaged because of the sudden change of shape.

Anyone know if that means there is not long now as I was hoping to make it to 39 weeks (have recalculated and am currently 37+2 not 38)?

Is it your first baby? 1st babies can engage weeks before baby is born doesn't mean baby is coming.
I however don't remember getting period pains when I engaged.
Could you be going into labour. Your 37 weeks so full term & ready Grin.
Is call your MW & get her to check you out.

I'm 36 weeks and have had mild period pains some nights for a few weeks now! I've told midwife, gp and consultant. Nobody batted an eyelid and just reminded me that if there's any bleeding to let somebody know!
