Hi everybody. This is my first post here. Has anyone ever heard of postnatal sepsis? If yes please let me know how it happened and what could have caused it.

Not postnatal but sepsis yes. Its an infection that attacks the bodies organs and spreads quickly and silently and is often overlooked as its symptoms are very similar to a viral infection, you can contract sepsis from a cut/urine infection etc. If you are worried about sepsis say so to a dr or phone 999 and mention sepsis, its the uks 2nd biggest killer, 44000 people a year die from it. My 3 year old daughter died from sepsis just over 2 years ago, she went from alert and responding to antibiotics on the childrens ward after she was admitted with pneumonia into cardiac arrest in 20 minutes.

So sorry to hear that. I suffered sepsis on the fifth day after I had my baby via an emergency c section. I survived only because of this wonderful midwife who came to see if the baby was fine but immediately called 999 when she saw me breathless. I was immediately taken to A&E and shifted straight to ITU. While still in hospital I started having seizures and an MRI revealed a clot in the brain which ended up with a stroke and right side of the body going numb. It's nearly 6 months now and this question comes back again and again that why did I have sepsis in the first place. Thanks for your patience
