ive just got my bfp!!!!

from dates im due 1st feb smile

Newboots86 Sat 24-May-14 21:55:02

Hi Fraggle! I got mine last Wednesday too! Due 2nd February according to mn calculator. That makes me 4 weeks on Monday. I can't really believe it! What Symptoms do you have?

Skye89 Sun 25-May-14 13:47:20

Hi fraggle and newboots and congratulations!
Can I tentatively join? Also got my bfp on Wed, after having spotting on Tues which I mistook for the start of AF.
My edd is 31st Jan but the Jan thread looks to be zooming ahead!
I am 4+1 and still in shock smile

Grotbagstwin Sun 25-May-14 16:01:23

Can I also join? Got BFP yesterday. Also due 31st january. Have a ds aready and been TTC for two years, this month we started with having blood tests to see if I was ovulating, I clearly was grin

Skye89 Sun 25-May-14 16:36:52

Congrats Grot, must be a great feeling!
Have you got any symptoms? So far I only seem to be having very mild cramps and today slightly sore nips (sorry if tmi!). Other than that I feel completely normal which is why I think I'm finding it so hard to believe!

Grotbagstwin Sun 25-May-14 17:33:46

I broke out in loads of spots last week, I never get spots apart from when I first fell pg with ds and DH said then he thought I was. With ds I found out at 6 weeks and I was popping out of my bra by then and going to the toilet so often I thought I had a UTI so I fully expect that in next few weeks.

Is it first baby for you ladies?

Newboots86 Sun 25-May-14 21:11:49

Welcome Skye and Grotbag! Congratulations on your bfps! So pleased for you both. It's so exciting, isn't it? I am very nervous though, so hope we all have sticky little beans! First baby for me. I had a uti just before my bfp, also have sore nips(!) and feel like I have done 1000 crunches! Also finding it hard to believe. We might have an early scan as I don't think we can wait for 12 weeks... When are you going to tell people?

Grotbagstwin Sun 25-May-14 21:53:51

My mum guessed before I did a test and I have told my bestfriend as we are out on Saturday for a big boozy sesh....she will help me hide it from everyone else (she told me the day she got a bfp as we had a night out planned then too) apart from that I am going to try to wait until 10 weeks but think it will be hard as its common knowledge that we have been ttc so get asked all the time. Also I cannot lie for toffee.
I am hoping I get an early scan too if I can convince DH

Skye89 Sun 25-May-14 22:05:48

First baby here grin

DH knows and one of my sisters. Going to tell my mum and everyone else will have to wait until about 10 weeks (if I can hold that long!). Know what you mean about the lying though grot, won't be surprised if I break before then!

When is everyone talking to the doctor?

Newboots86 Sun 25-May-14 23:04:05

I'm going to call them on Tuesday skye. I'm also trying to work out where/when to go for the scan. We told my mum the night we found out but told no one else so far. Will try to hold out as long as I can! Really tough not to shout it from the rooftops!

Grotbagstwin Sun 25-May-14 23:59:06

I am going next week as I take a lot of meds for existing conditions and I cannot remember which I need to stop taking.
It's so hard not to mention it to people we are going to a friends for lunch tomorrow, was suppost to be with a few bottles of wine, friend text tonight saying wine is chilling, I made an excuse saying I need to drive to mums that evening and she said I can safely say you won't be fit to drive, we may have to tell them or they will probably guess but luckily they don't know any of our other friends or family.
We are decorating our spare room ATM (was supposed to be a sewing room) and I found a tiny bib in a drawer, made me go all excited....it is so early so trying to keep a sensible head.

CaramellaDeVille Mon 26-May-14 08:36:24

Hello. I hope you won't mind me popping my head round the door to wish you all congratulations and best of luck. From all of us on the Feb 2014 thread who are enjoying our 3 and 4 month old babies very much. I hope you find as much friendship and support here as we did. Enjoy the journey!

Skye89 Mon 26-May-14 12:01:35

Thank you carmella, that's so lovely of you smile

Newboots86 Mon 26-May-14 20:36:25

Ahh, that is so lovely Carmella. Thank you and congratulations on your recent arrival thanks I'm certainly looking forward to an amazing journey.

EMac66 Tue 27-May-14 16:20:26

Woohoo lots of others in my boat! I got several faint positives yesterday and husband wanted us to go out at 10pm, drive 50 miles to our nearest 24 hour Tesco and buy a Clear Blue digital before he would believe it :D Calndar tells me edd 2nd February. First time parents - freaking out!! So nice to see others on here xx

kalidasa Tue 27-May-14 17:13:55

Hello all, I am due 28th Jan I think but the January thread looks pretty full up. I've known for ages because I have freakishly awful pregnancies (v. severe HG and wheelchair-bound with SPD) and become very ill almost immediately, so have been mostly in bed for a couple of weeks and waiting for this thread to appear! Have to admit I am totally dreading the pregnancy as the first one was so absolutely dreadful and I'll probably drop off the thread for a while once it gets too grim BUT of course it'll be lovely to have another baby at the end of it. DS is 17 months. How old is your DS grotsbag? When are you going to tell him?

Grotbagstwin Tue 27-May-14 17:58:32

Kalidasa my ds is nearly 4, he talks everyday about one day having a baby live with us, constantly tries to get an exprea one of things 'for when a baby lives with us' he has been more desperate for a baby than us I reckon, im thinking of telling him first week of July (just before his birthday) we are going away for his birthday and have a trip to Disneyland Paris booked for Dec, I am hoping I don't get SPD this time round or it will be sightseeing on a mobilty scooter!
Please try and stay on and chat if it gets bad

kalidasa Tue 27-May-14 18:06:21

Oh grotsbag that's really sweet! It must be so exciting imagining telling him. DS is a bit little to understand really, but he seems to have adapted really well so far to me being mostly in bed, he just brings stuff that I can do without moving like books and puzzles and the ipad! I think we won't really sit down and 'tell' him because he's a bit small for that, but if all goes well then we'll start explaining probably once I start getting bigger. Though last time I lost so much weight in the first few months that it took me quite a while to get back to where I started and then start looking bigger.

Grotbagstwin Tue 27-May-14 18:38:38

Im hoping it passes for you rather than gets worse, must be awful. My friend is a few months further than us and her ds is the same age as yours, they haven't told him as they said he is too young but they will get a bouncer out and leave it for him to get used to amd are starting to talk about the baby in conversation! My only problem is DS only wants 'a boy one' we have friends with babies that are all girls so boys are a real novelty to him!

I think I need a name change, something more positive sounding.....determined not to be a misery for next 8 months! grin

Skye89 Tue 27-May-14 19:01:09

Welcome Emac66 and kalidasa, nice to add a few more people to the group!
Sorry to hear about the difficulties you had first time round kalidasa, hopefully this pregnancy will be easier on you.
Does it feel like time is passing really slowly for anyone else? I thought the tww was bad but this is even slower!

kalidasa Tue 27-May-14 19:18:27

Well DS doesn't turn 18 months until later this week, so the nine months of a pregnancy is half his life again! I guess there's plenty of time for him to gradually get used to the idea, I was planning to make sure we've got lots of books and so on that show babies with toddler siblings. Are your two going to share a room or have their own from the beginning?

kalidasa Tue 27-May-14 19:19:47

Thanks skye. Time is definitely passing super slowly for me, I'm fed up of being pregnant again already!

Grotbagstwin Tue 27-May-14 19:23:28

Skye I think it is going slow because the whole world around us doesn't know, once people know it will go quicker until the final 2-4 weeks which will drag!
We bought ds bunk beds when he moved into a bed and while in a cot the new one will go in its own room. The nice thing about a small age gap give it a couple of months and your ds won't remember not having a baby around.

JacktheLab Tue 27-May-14 21:39:32

Ok, I'm going to be very brave and join you all.

Got my +ve this morning, I tried two tests and an ovi stick and they all had lines, albeit faint they are there, so going to be optimistic!

I will be due 7th Feb, this will be our second child, we have son who is 2 and a half, but he's very sure that he doesn't want a brother or sister so that should be interesting!!!

Skye89 Tue 27-May-14 22:29:36

Congrats JacktheLab, my test lines were faint to begin with and now 3 days after af I had two very strong lines today so fingers crossed for you!

Hopefully your ds will warm up to the idea along the way smile

EMac66 Wed 28-May-14 09:14:45

Is anyone else feeling a mix of emotions about their pregnancy? Yesterday I was thrilled and felt like sending out a 'copy all' email to my office telling them before running out on to the street and announcing it haha! (resisted, don't worry). But today I feel quite emotional about it, a bit scared about how it will change things with me and my husband (time together etc). Also a bit worried about this weekend - I am going away on a girls' weekend with some close friends and have no idea how I'm going to hide the no drinking thing from them. I will allow myself one very small, heavily diluted glass to last the whole evening that we go out for dinner, but that's it (don't really even feel like a drink!). They are close enough that I could tell them, but I don't want to reveal anything at this vulnerable stage. Argh!

kalidasa Wed 28-May-14 09:34:17

I think it's pretty normal to feel up and down EMac, especially with a first baby. It is a big change. I think common excuses for not drinking are being on antibiotics, or you could just say that you are trying for a baby, without revealing that you are actually pregnant - some women do avoid alcohol when they're hoping to conceive.

It does mean much less time alone with your husband, but on the other hand you have this wonderful thing that you share, it gives you such a common purpose. And actually if you prioritise it, you can make sure you still have a "couple" life, even early on with a fairly difficult baby, if you want to - it was really important to us as we hadn't been together long and my pregnancy with DS had been so difficult, so we started going out for the evening together once a week or fortnight when DS was very small, and we have even managed to get away on our own a few times.

JacktheLab Wed 28-May-14 09:54:29

I remember when I waste weeks with my first totally freaking out about what we had done, but it passed I promise it will for you too.

Life will never be the same but in more good ways than bad. My ds is such a fab little person I couldn't tell you how he has changed our lives there are so many!

You will have less time together as a couple but agree, it's important to carve out time together as grown ups minus small people, we have managed several nights away and even a couple of days away on Venice and have booked three nights in London in sept. DS will have a wild time at his grandparents and we will get to mooch about holding hands and talking grin

JacktheLab Wed 28-May-14 09:55:15

Sorry not waste weeks I meant was ten weeks!

EMac66 Wed 28-May-14 10:06:50

Aww thanks ladies. I'm sure it will pass - it's early days and was a bit of a shock - we were briefly ttc but seem to have managed it just 9 days after having my IUD removed and with a family history of fertility issues, we hadn't expected such fast work! It's wonderful and my dh is so excited which melts my heart. We've been together 5 years so had plenty time and adventures together already - I guess now we're just embarking on a new one!
How on Earth are we supposed to pass the next eight months patiently?!?

kalidasa Wed 28-May-14 10:53:29

I understand that EMac, of course it's lovely to conceive quickly and my heart goes out to people who struggle with fertility problems, but there is something disconcerting about conceiving very fast, especially the first time. It happened to us too and then I was very very ill as well (in hospital for the first time at just 5 weeks). It was quite a test of our relationship but we have come through it! I think in a more normal pregnancy the idea is that the pregnancy itself gives you lots of time to come to terms with the big change . . .

Is anyone else still doing reassurance pg tests? I did another one this morning, just to be sure!

JacktheLab Wed 28-May-14 12:51:23

Oh yeah kali I have plenty of internet cheapies and one expensive test and as I don't feel much different really at the moment I'm going for plenty of reassurance here wink

Have phoned and booked a doctors appointment for week on Friday so hoping to get myself into the "system

Grotbagstwin Wed 28-May-14 15:15:47

Emac66 with my first I really wanted a baby then when I fell pg I sobbed and sobbed, what had I done? How will I cope? Etc. my dh was thrilled.
Our time together is so much better now, we set a routine very early on and ds goes to bed without hassle at 6.30-7 giving us the evenings and on a Sunday we have family day, I still go out with friends a lot, date nights are better now as we make it count, we are going Morocco next week for our honeymoon (got married recently) without ds as he wanted to go seaside instead!

We have been ttc for so long now it is here I am worrying it won't stick and every ache im worrying! Im feeling achey today like dull period pains (apparently normal)

EMac66 Wed 28-May-14 16:08:01

Oh Grotbagstwin, that makes me feel better - glad I'm not alone, thank you. Feeling better about it every time I talk to my DH and I think part of the trouble is having to keep it a secret - when everyone knows, it'll be so lovely to share the feeling out a bit. It's a tad overwhelming at the mo!
I also think we'll set date nights and the like. We have to do that now as my DH and I both work so much so we'll just have to be extra vigilant about keeping that going and try to chill out a bit.

I am also having the period pains today. It feels a bit different to normal though so sure it's ok. Seeing doc tomorrow to make it official (hopefully!!) then it will start to feel VERY real.

EMac66 Wed 28-May-14 16:09:25

Kalidasa, I think disconcerting is the exact word for it! A bit hard to believe yet. Sorry you had a rough time sad Fingers crossed for this time though!

jdr1234 Wed 28-May-14 17:05:51

Hi All, hope you don't mind me joining, had my bfp on sunday and had a blood test to confirm it yesterday, from my dates am due around 28th Jan so 5 weeks pregnant- this is my first and sorry if tmi but has anyone else experienced a pinky tinge in discharge occasionally on wiping, not a large amount and no blood but mild cramps every now and again. Should I be concerned, I have been having this for past 5 days and the discharge is normally just in the evenings after going to the toilet. Any 2nd time mums reassurance would be welcome right now!

Grotbagstwin Wed 28-May-14 17:14:44

Jdr I haven't had it but I know a lot who did, I think around week four its implantation bleeding and shouldn't be anything to worry about.
Em we went out for the first time alone when ds was 4 weeks, we had a child free wedding a drive away to attend when he was 6 weeks so went out twice before then so I didn't meltdown!

JacktheLab Wed 28-May-14 20:30:17

Jdr not happened to me either but it apparently happens a lot so I'm sure everything will be okay grin

How's everyone doing this evening?

Skye89 Wed 28-May-14 21:07:01

Hi everyone and welcome jdr1234
Good to hear the advice about the early pregnancy feelings. After wanting this for so long, the last couple of days I have really been wondering if I know what I'm letting myself in for... but then I think about what will hopefully be waiting for us in January/February and I feel ok.
I also feel fine, no real symptoms to speak of (apart from very frequent weeing) and so this doesn't feel very real. I know that if nausea kicks in I'm probably going to kick myself for wishing I had more symptoms! How is everyone else feeling?

WarmSummerBreeze Wed 28-May-14 21:15:26

Hi all,

I'm going to stop lurking and actually say "hello". 27, Baby no 1 here.

I'm pretty sure we conceived on 1st May which gives me an EDD of 22 Jan 2015. I would go on January board but I feel a bit discouraged when I read how many more symptoms those ladies seem to have. I only have very hard sore nipples - no morning sickness at all. It makes me concerned that pregnancy is not 'viable'. I hate that expression.

My concerns are compounded by the fact that I'm showing 2-3 weeks pregnant on clear blue when I should be showing 3+.

Sorry to be a worry merchant - just can't relax.

I have gp appointment on Friday so will ask for hcg levels to be checked.

Skye89 Wed 28-May-14 21:28:02

Welcome warmsummerbreeze! I know what you mean about the Jan thread, a few of us are due late Jan here so you'll fit right in smile
Good luck with bloods tmrw fx all will be well.

WarmSummerBreeze Wed 28-May-14 21:34:07

Thanks Skye. So nice to have people to talk with. As we're keeping it secret I only have DH to discuss with - think he's running out of comforting things to say!

Are most of you keeping things quiet until scan or are you telling nearest and dearest?

Skye I see you have no ms either. We should be glad but in a way you want it to rear it's ugly head to confirm things are progressing! Famous last words though.

Skye89 Wed 28-May-14 21:43:11

I'm going to tell my mum and maybe mil and then that's it until maybe 10 weeks. It's quite hard not being able to talk about it openly and I did read somewhere that it's a good idea to tell people you would want to be there to support you if anything went wrong. I still feel like I wouldn't want to let anyone down though if that makes sense.
Yup the no morning sickness has also made me feel as if this pregnancy isn't viable (also hate that phrase) but then as we all know every woman is different and we might just be some of the lucky ones!

Memphisbelly Wed 28-May-14 23:19:13

Hoping my name change worked, if it did this is grotbags.

My boobs are sore and still got the period type pains, these are the only symptoms I have at the moment. Nice to see a few more people joining the thread it makes it more real.
I won't be telling the inlaws until the scan hopefully, last time mil made me scared stiff when we told her by bringing up her past, don't want anyone bringing me down!

Skye89 Thu 29-May-14 00:21:49

Liking the name change memphisbelly. People's reactions are pretty unpredictable aren't they. I'd rather not tell anyone apart from my mum but I think dh wants to feel included in the sharing...

JacktheLab Thu 29-May-14 06:28:27

Morning all,

I think it's probably a little early for morning sickness, I would expect that to kick in in the next couple of weeks though!

Warm the tests date the pregnancy from the date of conception not the date of your last period, which is what everyone else uses, so it will be lagging behind a little, try not to worry smile

I have inflated and slightly tender boobs and I did feel a little bleurgh last night, but that's about it I think, although def having some streching too, but I'd expect that given this is a second pregnancy.

Have a good day everyone smile

mrshjb Thu 29-May-14 06:57:52

Hey everyone I'm going to stop lurking and say hello smile I got my BFP a week ago today and I think I'll be due around 27th/ 28th January, but as a few of you have said the January thread is way beyond me! This is baby one for us and we're very excited and I'm trying not be optimistic and not think about what might go wrong as hard as it is!

kalidasa nice to see you here, do you remember our lengthy conversation about temping earlier this month?!

Have any of you managed to get a midwife appointment yet? I've been trying to get through to them since last Friday with no luck!!

mrshjb Thu 29-May-14 07:03:57

Haha I'm trying to be optimistic

WarmSummerBreeze Thu 29-May-14 07:04:35

Morning ladies,

Memphisbelly, I like the name change!

Skye, I am envious you are getting to tell the mums. DH is adamant that we keep it secret. Last night I explained that if anything goes wrong I'll need to tell my mum because I'll want her support.

I see there are a lot of sore boobies! I work in an office with a lot of very nice ladies who like the air conditioning up on high at all times. The cold makes my already sensitive nipples agony! Yesterday I was forced to bind a couple of scarves round my booby area. Got some very strange looks!

Thanks Jack - I figure no bleeding so trying not to worry (and to stop googling missed miscarriage)

WarmSummerBreeze Thu 29-May-14 07:08:31

Hello MrsHjb! Welcome.

Nice that the thread is getting chatty!

When I phoned the GP they said that GP sees you first, then they refer you to midwife. I am not sure if that's the same in all health boards.

I've got my GP appointment tomorrow - will make it all seem that bit more real.

Burmamma Thu 29-May-14 07:23:23

Can I join this group too? I'm 3 Feb 2015. Just found out I'm at 4 weeks now. I'm totally delighted and also so scared. And hot. And tired. How is everybody else getting their head around this? Especially other first-timers… Doesn't seem real! Ps. I wonder what everyone else's partners/husbands/boyfriends said? My guy was like "I did it!!!!!" smile

Burmamma Thu 29-May-14 07:34:15

mrshjb Thu 29-May-14 07:41:35

warm thanks for the welcome. When I phoned my GP they just gave me the number for the midwife department. If they don't answer again this morning I might phone the GP again. Although I have a doctors appointment next Thursday so I might just go to that and tell her!

I'm also trying to think no bleeding means everything is fine. I don't think mmc is as common as google would have you believe?!

burmama welcome did you just get your BFP this morning? It's so exciting when you see the lines isn't it! I did a FRER on the Thursday morning and then a tesco and an IC test on the Saturday just to 'confirm' it!! I did my first test at about 4.30am because I couldn't sleep, so DH was very groggy and confused but he was really pleased, gave me a hug and then went back to sleep!!!

Burmamma Thu 29-May-14 07:56:10

Thanks so much for the welcome mrshjb Actually, I got the result on Monday just before boarding a twelve-hour flight from London to Bangkok, sitting in a loo in Heathrow! I didn't want to say it over the phone so had to wait to tell my man and just had the whole flight to mull it over and kept going to the airplane bathroom to look at my stomach. Which looks exactly the same obvs. Anyway, I did another test with him and we are all systems go now. He is so proud and happy, I am feeling way more terrified than him but based on what other people said looks like I'm not alone in that. Phew. When is everybody going to the doctor first? What's the next step? I started taking Pregnacare vitamins, is there anything else I should do?

mrshjb Thu 29-May-14 08:14:32

Haha god that's a long way to sit and think isn't it! Like how you did the test in the airport loo. What made you test then?!!

I phoned the doctor and they gave me the number for midwife, where as it looks like some people see the doctor first and they refer to the midwife. So I reckon just phone your doctor and see what they say!

Yeah definitely scared, it's just so overwhelming I think and it's really hard to imagine that you're growing a little person right now! I find myself staring at pregnant people as well thinking wow that's going to be me in a few months!! Have you downloaded the babycenter app? It's got little bits of information each day and week highlights which I find quite nice and something to pass the time!!

Skye89 Thu 29-May-14 10:46:12

Welcome mrshjb and burmamma and congratulations!
I'm telling my mum for that exact reason warm, if anything happens I would want her beside me. Plus it would feel good to talk to someone who has experienced it all of course!
Lovely to see a few more names, we might need to start a list soon.
I've got the baby centre app and I think it's better than most. Like that it gives you something to read everyday smile

fraggle84 Thu 29-May-14 10:49:11

I started the thread then forgot all
About it lol!!!

Ive been to the doctors and he did a blood test to confirm it and check my folic acid levels. Ive got my midwife booking in appointment on Wednesday which im pleased about as last time she booked my scan during the appointment!

Officially 5 weeks now smile weve told my parents but not dh's yet as with ds they told most of the family when we asked them not to!

kalidasa Thu 29-May-14 10:56:16

hallo mrshjb yes, I do remember our conversation! So that must have been your conception cycle in the end? Congratulations!

mrshjb Thu 29-May-14 13:18:43

I've told my mum, dad and sister and my best friend because I would definitely need their support if anything happened.

Fraggle i'm really jealous of your healthcare so far. I've left another message with the midwives this morning but nothing back so far!

kaladisa yep that was my conception cycle! When did you get your bfp?

kalidasa Thu 29-May-14 13:36:38

I got a positive about 10 days ago mrs but I have these weird terrible pregnancies and had been feeling very unwell for about ten days before that so it was not a great surprise! Unfortunately I am already off work and mostly in bed. I saw one consultant last Friday and I have my booking in appointment at my local hospital's consultant clinic next Monday - not sure if I'll be seeing both a midwife and a consultant at that point or just one of them. I'm already on medication so it is all a bit complicated! I am 5w2d today and last time I got sent to A&E and admitted to hospital for the first time at 5w6d so I am quite nervous!

I've had to tell quite a lot of people because of the medical/work situation, but I have stressed that it is super early so might not work out.

I've got a couple of good apps too - they have developed a lot since I was pregnant with DS just two years ago!

Burmamma Thu 29-May-14 13:47:11

I know mrs I was totally mental to take the test then! but I had taken so many before and just didn't really think it would be positive. Was totally expecting a neg and then, there it was! Crazy. I will download baby centre now, thanks for the tip! fraggle I'm well impressed you've already been in to doctor... Making me nervous about my frolic acid levels now too and thinking I should go... Is anyone else taking prenatal vitamins and if so which ones?

fraggle84 Thu 29-May-14 14:09:07

Ive got multiple sclerosis so see my doctor every 4 weeks anyway for blood tests to keep a check on my b12 levels. I just left a message with the gp who added the folic acid And hcg tests to the list when I had them on weds. At our gps you only see the midwife so id ring and check before making an appointment

mrshjb Thu 29-May-14 14:44:34

Oh yeah kalidasa I remember you saying that you suffered during pregnancy. Hopefully this one will be a little bit better, especially if you're already on the medication?

I'm 5w and 1/2d today. I did a test at 14/15dpo and it was a very strong positive, which makes me wonder if I'm further on then I think I am? Or do some people get strong positives from earlier on?! I googled it and I saw some really faint ones so it just made me question it!

Burmamma Haha you just don't expect to see a positive do you, it's so crazy! Did the plane journey drag? I'm still taking my seven seas conception ones because I have a month and a half's worth left. I think they say that they have everything in that I need so hopefully they'll be fine. When I eventually get to speak to a midwife I'll ask them about it though!

Fraggle ah right that makes sense then.

Welcome back fraggle grin

ProudlymadeinSA Thu 29-May-14 17:10:11

Hello! Please can I join too? Due 1 Feb. First time. Living overseas for a few years with work which means no family around, but luckily I've made lots of great friends here. DH and I both nervous/excited. Had horrendous symptoms last week but since then nothing. Feel great. Which of course terrifies me! Had hcg test today to confirm pregnancy - 2000 - which is in the normal range (though I know the rate rise is more important). Need to find a gynae now....

Congrats to everyone!

ProudlymadeinSA Thu 29-May-14 17:13:35

PS in response to the earlier question, I'm taking boots pregnancy tablets. Stocked up on all that stuff on last trip to UK - it felt a lot like tempting fate at the time but everything here is more expensive and not such good quality....

kalidasa Thu 29-May-14 18:08:41

How does pregnancy affect your MS fraggle if you don't mind me asking? (Feel free to ignore if you'd rather.) I have rheumatoid arthritis and the only good thing about pregnancy for me is that the RA almost completely disappears almost as soon as I conceive - within a few days. It's quite weird but apparently normal for autoimmune conditions. Is it similar for MS? I did have quite a bad flare a few months after the pregnancy though (also normal apparently). Amazing how it changes so much about how your body is working so quickly.

Welcome proudly and burma. I really remember doing a pregnancy test in the loos at Stansted (I think) years and years ago when I was a student and having a massive panic! It was a pretty irrational panic though I think and I definitely wasn't pregnant.

Where are you living proudly? One of my younger sisters is pregnant at the moment as well (due in late August/early September) and she emigrated to Australia a few years ago. She loves it over there but it must be a bit hard to be so far away from family, especially in a first pregnancy.

CharlieWoo Thu 29-May-14 19:51:56

Can I join? Due 28

Memphisbelly Thu 29-May-14 20:17:42

Burmamma and others welcome!

Fraggle, I have a genetic condition and blood disorder that presents like MS and when I was pg last time all of my levels improved and I was very healthy!

Telling dh this time was a let down, the first time I did a test with ds I rang him wailing and he was telling me to calm and this time I wanted it to be special but we were struck down with an awful sickness bug and on the second day of it I testing, we were both so poorly we just managed a weak smile and a woohoo!

I sell knitting wool at work and all these customers were coming today for buttons for little cardi's I was all excited looking at them, ds was a summer baby...this one will be winter so all lovely blankets and winter clothes!

Burmama Fri 30-May-14 05:24:49

Good thinking proudly I'm in the same boat, living overseas for work and this is my first pregnancy. I wasn't quite so organised as you though! I had to buy Pregnacare vitamins here and they were bloody expensive but they have made me feel much more energetic since I started taking them, so seem to be good quality… Where are you living?

kalidasa you're totally right, it is really hard not having friends and family around but I'm loving Mumsnet! Have told my family and some friends, one of them is getting married this summer and I'm a bridesmaid so I hope the dress will still fit… Anyone know how big I should expect to be at around 16 weeks? I hear different things….

memphisbelly you work in a knitting shop? That is my dream job. Especially now. Hope you and DH have kicked the bug and feeling better now! Glad to hear all levels looking good smile

Have you gotten through to a midwife yet mrs? The plane was the longest of my life, didn't get a wink of sleep. Speaking of which, has anyone else had disrupted sleeping? I feel like I'm waking up more at night now and not falling asleep as easily. Just me? Could be the heat out here.

mrshjb Fri 30-May-14 07:16:46

No I still haven't managed to get through to them. Left another message yesterday so hopefully someone will ring me back today. Not holding my breath though!! Yeah I can imagine it really dragged! Erm I struggled a bit when I first found out, I think it was because I was thinking so many things all the time. Last couple of days I've been getting progressively more tired though so I've been doing better. I'm sure as soon as the 'pregnancy tiredness' kicks in we'll all be sleeping like logs!!

Welcome to everyone new smile

mrshjb Fri 30-May-14 07:59:18

mrshjb Fri 30-May-14 07:59:42

Argh stupid phone! Meant to say p.s. is anyone else super bloated?

mrshjb Fri 30-May-14 07:59:50

Argh stupid phone! Meant to say p.s. is anyone else super bloated?

Memphisbelly Fri 30-May-14 08:36:46

Burmamma every one is different, google 16 weeks pregnant bump snd you will see peoples sizes, I didn't have a massive bump then but my boobs had grown to an F cup meaning all of my clothes were too tight, but then my friends stayed an A cup. I am already busting out of my bras!
I took another test last night, I was paranoid! Dh doesn't want to get his hopes up until the scan which seems so long away! I am calling docs on Monday, I should have gone this week but we have been really busy this week. Im helping a friend move house today.

Memphisbelly Fri 30-May-14 08:38:52

Oh and regards to not sleeping I only sleep a few hours every night anyway, im hoping I start sleeping well soon insomnia is rubbish, past few nights I have been on kiddicare and things like that though to pass the time!

Newboots86 Fri 30-May-14 08:53:19

Hello everyone and welcome and congratulations to all newbies! Sorry for the absence, my iPad has been playing up.

All quiet here, just very sore boobs (one more than the other - v strange!). We have a family BBQ on Sunday so a bit worries about giving the game away. Going to be drinking 'gin' and tonics!

JacktheLab Fri 30-May-14 09:10:08

Morning all smile

Shall we start a list? I can do it tonight once I back on the laptop grin

My period was due today so I've used my last test just to make sure!

mrshjb Fri 30-May-14 09:59:20

I'm up for a list. What stats do you want?!

JacktheLab Fri 30-May-14 10:04:03

Ummm, due date and what number child, ie this will be my second child.

mrshjb Fri 30-May-14 10:38:21

Due 28th Jan (ish) 1st child smile

Skye89 Fri 30-May-14 10:55:21

Hi all and welcome to anyone new.

burmamma I've also been waking up quite often through the night, mostly around 5am. I find that I don't feel comfortable sleeping, not sure why and I'm usually a deep sleeper.

My stats Skye89 baby #1 edd 31st Jan

Burmama Fri 30-May-14 11:12:48

I'm exactly the same Skye89. Usually can't be woken with a mac truck but for the last week been very restless sleeper.

I'm up for a list Jack. My stats Burmama - First baby, edd 3 Feb

jdr1234 Fri 30-May-14 13:30:58

I'm due jan 28th, 1st child

JacktheLab Fri 30-May-14 14:33:38

Thanks guys I can unleash my inner nerd this evening and get us all into date order wink

kalidasa Fri 30-May-14 14:40:11

I'm due Jan 28th as well, 2nd child. DS will be 2.1 when the baby is due.

SpandexBallet Fri 30-May-14 15:21:54

Hi any chance I can join. Got a BFP this morning (well 6 so far as I didn't believe it!)
1st baby Edd 31st jan. I have been pg before but miscarried and it was almost 7 years ago so I don't remember a thing about this pregnancy lark!

So far just very sore boobs, was the reason I tested.
Hope you are all feeling ok!

Skye89 Fri 30-May-14 16:40:07

Welcome spandexballet and congratulations smile

We are edd buddies!

And thank you JacktheLab for putting stats together, brew for your time.

jdr1234 Fri 30-May-14 16:45:42

can I just ask and sorry to be a fear monger but if you were to miscarry would you know about it? i.e heavy bleeding and cramping even if you are only 5 weeks along... I find it strange you have no idea if there is anything there from the point you to the pregnancy test to the earliest scan you can have at 7 weeks! I am not going to keep doing pregnancy tests to confirm I am as that seems silly as I did 3 on the day I found out and got it confirmed by blood test the next day.
Having very few symptoms so don't feel very pregnant apart from sore boobs and a terrible thirst the whole time!

persepolis123 Fri 30-May-14 16:59:33

Hi please can I join? I got my bfp today. EDD is the 7th of Feb I think.

In total shock as it was our first month ttc. We already have a DS who is 18 months old and took 11 months to conceive. He will be 2 years 3 months when the new baby arrives.

I’m still at work and can’t wait to get home to tell DP.

Memphisbelly Fri 30-May-14 17:54:59

Jdr I don't think there is much point in keeping testing, my friend recently miscarried at 6 weeks, 2 weeks on her tests still show positive as hormones still high. She knew she miscarried, there was a lot of blood, try not to worry, I had not one bit of nausea with ds. The only symptom I had was my bras getting smaller, no ill effects at all. Im back today feeling totally normal no belly ache.

I went into Jojo Maman Babe today while waiting to meet my friend, looking at the tiny babygrows, cannot wait to start buying stuff, we are going Kiddicare for a carseat for ds tomorrow, going to have a nosy at tiny things grin

Skye89 Fri 30-May-14 17:57:31

Congrats persepolis smile

I'm not sure jdr1234 I think. Heavy bleeding with clots can be a sign but I've also read that bleeding doesn't always mean mc. I've also done a few reassurance pg tests since getting bfp but then remind myself that even if I were to mc the hcg can still be present and detected by htps.

It's all very worrying and it's just a waiting game. Hopefully someone else will be along with something more helpful soon!

mrshjb Fri 30-May-14 18:10:59

Hi everyone, welcome and congratulations to the newbies smile

jdr1234 you will read things about 'missed miscarriages' which seems to be when people go for their scans and the baby stopped developing without them realising, but I don't think it's any where near as common as the internet would have you believe. Like others have said bleeding and cramping usually isn't a good sign but I know people who have had bright red blood and gone on to have healthy babies so unfortunately you just don't know. It's such a worrying time isn't it, but I'm really trying to just hope for the best and think that worrying isn't good for you or the baby smile

I had a quick look at baby stuff in Tesco today as I was passing through. Can't actually wait to be able to buy things! Been feeling a bit queasy today, slightly dizzy and boobs are definitely getting more sore. Wondering if this is the start of it!!

MrsCK Fri 30-May-14 18:45:20

Ooh can I join? EDD is 28th Jan ish too...I'm over on the January bus too (hoping that's allowed!)

mrshjb Fri 30-May-14 18:46:59

Ooh 28th Jan is a popular date isn't it! Are you formerly Christmas Kate?!

MrsCK Fri 30-May-14 18:48:53

That's me!!

kalidasa Fri 30-May-14 18:51:50

I had two v. early losses before DS - super early though, 4.5 and 5 weeks or thereabouts. They were both just like a period really. One of them was noticeably heavier and more painful than a normal period, the other one was actually a bit light than normal (for me). At that v. early point the tests went negative pretty much immediately but in both cases they hadn't been very strong positives anyway so presumably never really got going. Pregnancy symptoms disappeared pretty much as soon as the bleeding started. memphis I'm quite surprised your friend is still testing positive if she was that early on. Has she had a scan?

Yes I think mrshjb is right that missed mcs are so dreadful, but not that common. One of my sisters has had two, but she has a clotting issue which I think contributed to it.

MrsCK Fri 30-May-14 18:52:11

mrsh it's my first too...have you had many symptoms? I'm very queasy and can't stop sleeping!

Memphisbelly Fri 30-May-14 19:16:36

Kalidasa yes she has, she had blood tests and the levels dropped but not low enough to get a neg test. She bled a huge amount though, had to be put on a drip overnight.
I think the best thing we can do is just stay positive. My big fear is we have waited so long for this one I worry if it doesn't stick it will be another two years.

Dh is worrying as we are on holiday next week. We have booked activities and he is saying he wants me to re think going on them.

MrsCK Fri 30-May-14 19:57:54

Is it normal to be a complete blubbering wreck after tonight's eastenders?!

Memphisbelly Fri 30-May-14 20:12:00

MrsCK I don't watch it but when pg before I cried so much at Nanny Mcphee I couldn't leave the cinema....which has surely got to be worse than crying at eastenders grin

MrsCK Fri 30-May-14 20:19:32

Haha amazing! Yup the tears seem to have set in for the night...DID SOS is now the culprit...

persepolis123 Fri 30-May-14 20:22:27

memphis what kind of activities? You usually have to sign a disclosure form to say you aren't pregnant so might be a good idea to reconsider if it's anything too strenuous.

Memphisbelly Fri 30-May-14 20:35:11

Camel riding and quad biking. I fell off a moving motorbike when this far gone with ds (didn't know I was pg) so this should be fine it isn't crazy just a tour so won't be going fast.

MrsCK Fri 30-May-14 20:40:29

memphis you're a braver woman than I!

Memphisbelly Fri 30-May-14 20:50:09

I think the word you are after is stupid or crazy not brave! I may end up bottling the camel but the quad I will do, it is literally a slow tour.

Can I join please! Another 28 January! #1 - been really happy mostly then today really flat and teary. Been feeling really cold all day and read it's normal to feel hot so convinced myself there was a problem (then remembered I am having night sweats every night) Had lots of cramps that feel like period pain for about a week now. No nausea but got a take away pizza tonight and as soon as I had a bite knee I couldn't stomach it. Would normally easy do a whole one smile thanks whoever gave babycentre app info - just downloaded.

JacktheLab Sat 31-May-14 07:01:34

Good morning all, hello Mrsm14 welcome smile

My son slept through till a decent hour this morning hurrah!!! We have some Tesco Days Out vouchers to use up so we are off to the Scottish Deer Centre today to see the animals and

Mrsm I think it's probably just the hormones?

mrshjb Sat 31-May-14 09:38:23

Morning, thanks for the stat's Jack. Looks like 28th Jan is a popular date at the minute!

MrsCK I thought I'd seen your live POAS thread on the conception pages! I've had a whole range of symptoms since before POAS. But the main ones for now and boobs are more sore, I'm generally more tired, bloated a large amount of the time and have spells of nausea. I usually drink a lot of water, but I've found that I've been really really thirsty recently too!

Mrsm14 I haven't found that I've been massively hotter during the day, but I've definitely been having night sweats- lovely eh! I recommended the babycentre app, a few of my friends had it when they were pregnant last year and said how good it was smile

Jack good news about the decent sleep and I hope you have a nice day out!

DoYouWannaBuildaSnowman Sat 31-May-14 11:58:21

Can I join too? Total newbie - been lurking for ages and just registered.

EDD Jan 30, got my positive a week ago smile been trying for a while so very excited, but it still doesn't feel all that real yet. Partly because I don't need to see GP apparently, so another 4 weeks to wait for booking appointment with midwife. Can't quite believe it's really happening at last!

Ernie1 Sat 31-May-14 12:48:35

Hi all - can I join too?

Got BFP yesterday after trying for a few months. I had an early MC in March (only 5 weeks) so FREAKING out if I feel 'normal' for any length of time at the moment. And my length of time I mean about 2 minutes. I'm hoping I'll calm down a little if/when I get past the point I was at last time when I started bleeding.

Don't have as many symptoms as I remember having with DS. But then I think I was slightly further along when I found out with him, perhaps a week or so further so symptoms could have been stronger because of that.

Congratulations to everyone!

MrsCK Sat 31-May-14 14:42:54

mrsh yup I was on the live poas thread over on conception!

mrsm welcome! I'm freezing in the day, boiling at night. ..no idea what that's all about!

WarmSummerBreeze Sat 31-May-14 16:49:01

Beautiful day where I am. DH and I fired up the BBQ at lunch and had sausages in brioche hot dog buns. Yum! I so longed for a cold glass of white wine

My SIL promised me that pregnancy puts you off wine. "You just don't want it at all". Wish I could say that was true!

Anyone else miss it yet?

Ernie1 Sat 31-May-14 16:52:11

Sorry for missing out the vital detail! I'm due Feb 4th.

WarmSummerBreeze I know what you mean - I've fancied a glass already but luckily its gone as quick as it came over me. TBH last time I missed soft eggs and pate more!

Memphisbelly Sat 31-May-14 17:46:04

I have felt shattered today and I am so bloated I look around 5 months pg! Hoping it goes back down over night.

I never fancied booze with my ds but my friend craved it, she scoured the area for non alcohol wine that didn't taste vile, not sure if it actually exists though grin

Mrsm14 Sat 31-May-14 17:56:56

mrsck persepolis123 glad I'm not the only one then!

Not missing booze which seems odd - didn't even get jealous when husband cracked a malbec open last night. Sure that will come though! Tummy feels all tight and bloated today. Probably just gas grin

Had to resort to a not boiling hot hot water bottle briefly for cramps today. Figure if not boiling and well wrapped, plus used briefly, can't be that bad? So much to think about now - just did first supermarket shop since we found out and it took aaaaages!

MrsCK Sat 31-May-14 18:19:36

I'm missing wine so so much!!! DH isn't helping matters...

so my main symptom is tiredness. 12 hours plus a 4 hour nap and I'm still exhausted. back to work next week and I've no idea how I'm going to cope!

JacktheLab Sat 31-May-14 19:17:12

Afternoon all,

we have had a busy day and seen more type of deer than I thought there were! We fed some of them and saw bears and wild cats, elks and reindeer and then after all that went to Ikea and got some more storage units.

We have been putting away all of DS1's clothes as he grew out of them and somewhere in the muddle in the loft are my maternity clothes from last time. Already I'm bloated enough to need to get some stretchy waistbands on!

So tomorrow we are going to bring all the clothing down from the loft, sort it into age groups and put it away in a cupboard :D

WarmSummerBreeze Sat 31-May-14 19:53:26

Glad to see I'm not alone in missing a relaxing glass of wine.

MrsCK I second the tiredness. I find that I'm much more tired at the weekend. I've had two naps today for example. Obviously that isn't an option during the week. I do find myself getting into bed with Ipad almost as soon as I'm home from the office though! Actually ordered some new bedding today from John Lewis Online (left over wedding vouchers) because I figured I'll be spending lots of time in bed. smile

jdr1234 Sat 31-May-14 23:15:16

Evening all- so the sore boobs just kicked in...wow! Not like sore boobs before a period...it's ten times worse!!

DoYouWannaBuildaSnowman Sun 01-Jun-14 08:43:59

Glad its not just me who's exhausted all the time - first pregnancy so NO idea what's normal....! Yesterday was a 2 nap day for me too. I've been waking up earlier than usual feeling a bit queasy and with pmt-type cramps, from 2 days after I first tested. Not feeling properly sick or anything tho, has morning sickness kicked in for anyone else yet?

persepolis123 Sun 01-Jun-14 09:42:03

I've had nausea on and off. It will hit me all of a sudden then disappear again. I had morning sickness with DS until 20 weeks so not looking forward to that side of it.

That and the tiredness were the hardest to deal with and now I have a toddler to run around after. DP works completely different hours to me so most of the time I'm here on my own.

Luckily my parents help out a lot - they have DS three days a week when I'm at work and will happily take him whenever I need them to but I don't like to take advantage.

Last time we didn't tell anyone until 12 weeks but think we will tell our parents in a few weeks if all is well. What about everyone else?

mrshjb Sun 01-Jun-14 09:42:20

Yeah I've been having little naps as well, might as well make the most of it being a weekend!

Yeah my boobs are sore too, mainly the sides which is strange and nipples too but I'm a bit more used to that!

I've not actually been sick but I've felt sick quite a few times. I've read if you get to the end of week 6 without being sick then you should be ok. So just a week to go for me!!

I tried Schloer celebration last night, it's supposed to be like sparkling rose wine, it comes in a pop top bottle and everything. Unfortunately it tastes nothing like wine....!! DH got me some none alcoholic koppaburgs to try and they pretty much taste like the real thing so they should be good for summer smile

MrsCK Sun 01-Jun-14 10:15:42

Morning all. yup the Morning sickness has set in here. Not being sick, just the nausea which is rubbish. last day of half term today though so I'm going to try and enjoy it!!!

sophspot Sun 01-Jun-14 12:13:24

Hello, I've come to join you all. Got my bfp yesterday which I'm thrilled about after early mc in January. Due date is 1st feb. I feel so nervous and sacred but need to be positive and enjoy this pregnancy smile

MrsCK Sun 01-Jun-14 12:41:28

Hi sophspot I think this is the place to be if you're a bit of a worrier...I certainly am. sorry to hear about your mc...keeping everything crossed we all have sticky beans!

I posted way too early about morning sickness. I now have the nausea and the vomit together.....urgh. threw up just after taking my vits...do you think they'll have any effect now?!

Memphisbelly Sun 01-Jun-14 15:14:08

Hi sophspot, love to see the group growing!

Jdr123 I know right? Boob ache is so different to period boob pain! All positive signs though.

We did a carboot sale today and made £100 dh said to put it away and spend on myself, wish I was further along so i could buy baby stuff!

I went on ebay in the night when I couldn't sleep. Found a maternity top/bundle of 5 (one top I saw on ASOS for £25) and as it finished at a silly time of night I won it for £5! 2 tops are vile but I can put them back on ebay again...or wear them when I am too fat to care what I look like.
I am so tired, I genuinly cannot remember ever feeling this shattered

araminem Sun 01-Jun-14 15:47:09

Just found out I am pregnant...27 and 1st baby. My husband is a bit shocked...I got the IUD out less than 3 weeks ago and he was convinced it would take ages. He's getting happier by the minute though! I was convinced I was no pregnant as so far no pregnancy symptoms except some period like cramping.

I'm due 5th February smile.

Lydiejo Sun 01-Jun-14 17:46:22

Hi there. Think I'm ready to say it... I'm pregnant! Found out 2 days ago, due February 8th. Will be my second, I have a nearly 19 month old daughter. I am really excited to be pregnant again. I loved it the first time around. Surprised though too because it was our first month trying! I really really want a February baby, seems like a better month for some reason then jan. First one came 2 weeks early though.

carmen87 Sun 01-Jun-14 19:25:14

Hey everyone! Found out yesterday I'm pregnant! Really excited! I'm due about 6th of feb!! Really over the moon as I had a m/c in November! But that makes me really scared right about now! Got extremely sore boobs!! No sickness yet but few pains in stomach n back! Guna get into the doctors tomorrow! Count down begins lol! X

MrsCK Sun 01-Jun-14 21:31:38

Yay! love that the seats on here are filling up thick and fast. Please help yourself to a ginger biscuit smile

Has anyone got any mw appointments booked yet? my first is Friday. I'll be 6+2 smile

CursiveLetters Sun 01-Jun-14 21:39:07

Hi everyone! Got my BFP on Wednesday after trying for one year, I'm due on Jan 31. I definitely have sore boobs and was pretty exhausted today. My husband is actually the worst secret keeper in the world and let it slip when he was out with his mum today when we agreed that I was going to tell her next week! I don't mind though.

The pregnancy is starting to feel real, but not yet the fact that I'm going to have a baby! (This will be my first.) Nice to chat with everyone here!

Memphisbelly Sun 01-Jun-14 22:00:56

I went out last night and did pretend drinking thinking I had fooled everyone snd got a message today from one of the lads saying 'so when are you due?' He said he could tell as I just seemed different. Had a wobble as I don't want people knowing yet. Calling doc tomorrow as I need to make it more 'real'

CharlieWoo Sun 01-Jun-14 22:40:10

Can I join please? I'm another due Jan 28th!!
So far not many symptoms. Just really sore boobs and very light headed.
This is our third baby. Have DD 4 and DS 2.
I want to shout it from the rooftops but we are keeping it quiet until 12 week scan.
Congratulations everyone.

JacktheLab Mon 02-Jun-14 06:41:49

Morning all,

Memphis my mother in law has done the same thing, she sent me a text message just saying "are you pregnant?", DH and I are a bit annoyed about it, she's never been so blunt before! Safe to say I'm not replying to it and she isn't getting to know anything until 12 weeks! Grrrr

Welcome to everyone who is new, if no-one else gets to it I'll update the stats this evening if I get a chance.

Very few symptoms here, but it's really a bit of a waiting game until August I think when I should get my first scan.

carmen87 Mon 02-Jun-14 07:57:37

Morning people! Hopefully get in the doctors today! But at work till half 2!! Didn't sleep at all last night too hot! And when I didn't I had the strangest dream and shot up n screamed scared the life out of my partner lol! Boobs are really sore but I'm happy with that coz it re-assures me!

Getting dressed for work and my trouser and shirt are tight round the belly area! They have been for a couple of weeks in just thought I was putting weight on lol! It's amazing how bloated I am at just 4 weeks n 3 days xx

Memphisbelly Mon 02-Jun-14 08:17:36

Carmen I am also so bloated (and windy) yesterday I put on maternity linen trousers just to relieve the tightness from jeans.

Jack I tried to ignore it and change the subject and he insisted I was aaying he has a sicth sense and when I denied again he suggested I take a test as he was sure I was! shock

Im sure my mil knows too as she is being very nice to me and when talking to dh she keeps asking how I am and am I drinking enough!

mrshjb Mon 02-Jun-14 08:21:23

Morning everyone and welcome and congratulations to the newbies smile

It's so hard trying to keep it a secret from the rest of the world isn't it. I don't know why people are so blunt. I'd never dream of outwardly asking someone if they were pregnant. You work on the basis if they want to tell you they will don't you!

I've been bloated since about 8/9dpo to be honest and it's not got any better. Boobs are really sore as well and having to loosen the back and lengthen the straps!

I'm hoping to be able to book my first midwife appointment today. I was given the wrong number by my doctors surgery so that lead to about a week of messing about trying to get hold of the wrong people! But they did say they'd send me out an info back and advised me to book my first appointment when I'm around 7 week ish, so that should be any time from next Wednesday onwards. I'll see what they say when I ring today though.

Burmama Mon 02-Jun-14 08:37:36

Hi all, 5 weeks exactly today, woo hoo! No major nausea yet but I don't want to jinx myself, I know it's prob coming any day now. mrshjb where did you read that about getting to 6th week without vom? That is potentially great news but I don't want to get my hopes up. I read somewhere else that it depends on one's own mum - I asked mine and she said she had no morning sickness in two pregnancies. But again trying not to get my hopes up. I live in Rangoon and the street smells here make me want to vom at the best of times!

Apart from that, only very minor symptoms, tiredness and more trouble than usual sleeping because I get so hot! carmen87 I know exactly how you feel. Last night, had to sleep directly under fully-blasting aircon which only kind of did the trick. Also anyone else gone off sugar?? Very strange for me not to want my daily choc.

Memphisbelly Mon 02-Jun-14 11:14:21

I had no sickness last time, everything stinks though, I was convinced I had BO yesterday and to prove I didn't he sniffed up in my pits <boak> that is love grin
Just been docs and I am booked in for next Thursday with mw and he said due to my medical conditions he wants an early scan the week after! Annoyingly my sister and her daughter in law walked in as I was booking appointment so my sis now knows. Literally walked to reception as she said 'so how many weeks are you?'

jdr1234 Mon 02-Jun-14 11:24:43

Morning- I feel like I am the only one with literally no symptoms- my boobs are sore but that is it! no symtoms makes it harder to believe I am actually pregnant although I am sure I shouldn't complain! I am 6 weeks on Wednesday and then having a 7 week scan next Thursday as not seeing midwife till 9weeks!

Memphisbelly Mon 02-Jun-14 11:29:25

Jdr I have just been messaging a friend who is 14 weeks, she didn't know until 10 weeks as she had no symptoms at all and still doesn't now, she went for scan on Friday expecting them to need to do an internal as she was so early but turns out she is nearly 4 months!

jdr1234 Mon 02-Jun-14 11:56:26

Memphis- wow! how lucky is she that she firstly has no symptoms and is already so far along! The days seem to be going so slowly so 6 weeks feels like forever away!

carmen87 Mon 02-Jun-14 12:17:04

At the docs at 4:20 to make it all real! Stuck at work with the worst head ache ever ha!

Just remembered they are planing a deep clean, I work in a child's play centre and not really sure if it will be ok to do it or not, it involves cleaning the whole play frame that's thick with dust :/ xx

persepolis123 Mon 02-Jun-14 13:41:57

I’m jealous of all you having midwife appointments already. They won’t see me until 10 weeks here, unless it’s changed since last time.

<waves to lydiejo> You finally decided to join us then? We are on the same Nov 12 thread together (I was apple).

Ernie1 Mon 02-Jun-14 13:50:25

Hey jdr I don't feel like I've got symptoms either hmm

No sore boobs, no real nausea, bit lightheaded but not as much as last week. No headaches either which I've had before. I am getting some slight cramping/twinges but that just makes me worry all the more!

Wish these first few weeks could go a bit faster...

mrshjb Mon 02-Jun-14 14:02:06

I've made my first midwife appointment for Monday 16th.

I'm beyond tired at the minute. No idea how I'm going to get through the afternoon! Definitely wish these first few weeks would go faster and then you can openly moan about how rubbish you feel!!

Memphisbelly Mon 02-Jun-14 15:19:04

It is 7 weeks for first appointment here. I said I know its early but due to my health issues I thought I best come and he said that 7 weeks is perfect.

OneDayLikeThis2013 Mon 02-Jun-14 15:26:44

Hi everyone, can I join? I'm also on the Jan thread as originally thought my EDD (by my lmp) was 17th Jan but we had an early scan (privately) yesterday and the little bean measured at 6+1 giving me an EDD of 24th Jan. It's all very confusing!

I'm 27, this is our first pregnancy and I love reading all the threads on here - definitely reassuring to read people's stories and symptoms and makes me feel much more sane/normal!!

To date, no actual sickness but LOTS of nausea and complete exhaustion which makes me wonder how I'm going to get through a 5 day week. DH is being absolutely wonderful doing all the cooking, dog walking and cleaning (well he classifies it as 'cleaning') but I still feel so guilty about being in bed at any opportunity

ZebraZeebra Mon 02-Jun-14 16:52:36

Hi - can I join? Just got a very faint BFP today, three days late on AF. Due date is 9 February. We have DS1 already, he's 19 months. We'd been TTCing for about five months.

Congratulations to everyone smile

jdr1234 Mon 02-Jun-14 17:24:00

Oneday- did you hear the heartbeat at 6 +1 I was told had to wait till 7 weeks to have an early scan as wouldn't detect anything before this point? I am 5 +5 but that is based on my last period so is prob a bit out!
p.s the jan thread isn't as active as this one!

ZebraZeebra Mon 02-Jun-14 17:47:30

I can't even remember how you calculate the week+day thing. I was so obsessed with it with DS.

Last time I didn't get MS or nausea - I got the most horrendous heartburn at 6pm every single evening. It made me want to die. But that ended around 12 weeks. But the worst thing was every single month, right up to birth, on the day AF would have been due, was I'd have violent vomiting episodes lasting a couple of hours. Like food poisoning-chugging-water-just-to-throw-it-up-pulling-muscles vomiting, and then it would just stop, just like that. MW reckoned it was my body's reaction to not having a normal period each month. Thanks, body!

Memphisbelly Mon 02-Jun-14 19:10:54

Zebra that sounds horrific! I suppose thr only good thing about that is you knew when it would strike.
Went chemist today and asked if there was anything for bloating I could take and they said no, I feel fit to pop.

persepolis123 Mon 02-Jun-14 19:25:55

Is anyone having a private early scan? I'm considering it because I want to tell close family soon but want to make sure everything is ok first. I read somewhere that 97% of women who see a heartbeat at 8 weeks will take their baby home from hospital at the end of their pregnancy so I'm thinking of booking one for 8 weeks.

Memphisbelly Mon 02-Jun-14 19:33:34

I am getting one on the NHS due to mecical issues but if I didn't zi would have paid for one. I will have a 4d one at 25 weeks though as we had one with ds.

OneDayLikeThis2013 Mon 02-Jun-14 19:33:50

jdr we didn't hear the heartbeat (I think it's much too early for that) but we could see it on the u/s.

zebra that sounds absolutely horrid! poor you!

persepolis personally I would recommend the private early scan after our experience at the weekend. We wanted to tell our parents and I also wanted to stop poas all the time in disbelief! I'll be honest, there wasn't much to see but seeing the heartbeat so strong was amazing and I definitely feel like I can believe it more now!

carmen87 Mon 02-Jun-14 20:11:11

I went to docs n got folic acid and filled a form for midwife, won't see her till I'm 8-10 weeks sad I'm only 4 weeks 3 days!

Started feeling I'll today! Really bad head , burning up and feeling sick! But it will be soooo worth it!

I went to my friends 4d scan the other week it was amazing so I'm planing in getting one later one! Xx

ZebraZeebra Mon 02-Jun-14 20:40:00

Those early scans sound so great. Sadly we have no cause to have one and no money to pay for one.

Mimosa1 Mon 02-Jun-14 22:15:29

Hi ladies, may I join you? I found out I was pregnant a few days ago, and think I'm 5w+2, with an EDD of Feb 1st. My husband and I were in the midst of getting referred for IVF and waiting for 3 day bloods... and AF never arrived! I still can't believe the whole thing. I don't really feel pregnant at all (except for sore boobs) so weirdly looking forward to a few more symptoms to confirm. We're thinking of booking a private early scan next Sat (will just be 6 weeks) as it just doesn't feel real. Have any of you done one so early? What are your thoughts?
Good luck and congratulations to you all :-)

Memphisbelly Mon 02-Jun-14 22:22:05

Mimoso welcome, sounds like us ttc dc2 and were being refered by doc when I realised I had my dates wrong! With ds I had lots of early scans, I had to have internal ones until 7 weeks as nothing showed on a abdominal scan then I think I was 7+3 when I saw heartbeat, but then again I have a tilted womb so that may be why.

Memphisbelly Mon 02-Jun-14 22:22:28

Ernie1 Mon 02-Jun-14 22:28:56

Hi all - still not feeling too bad so worrying lots! I even went back on a chat forum I was on when I was pregnant with DS to check when I got symptoms. Looks like I didn't start feeling too rough until 6-7 weeks so feel likely less worried now...

Mimosa1 Mon 02-Jun-14 22:32:23

Thanks memphisbelly - am still trying to get my head around it!

Welcome, Ernie

Lydiejo Tue 03-Jun-14 02:13:57

<hi perse!>

I think I'm starting to believe that I'm pregnant now that my period is late. I think it's just jarring because DH and I only agreed to start trying for #2 right before we dtd 2 weeks ago. No symptoms here yet.

Scheduled my midwife appointment today for 8 weeks. I think that is the typical in America. Vaginal ultrasounds are not nice but I really like the reassurance before I tell family. Really hoping to find a homebirth midwife when we move out of state in a few months. I'm sure moving with a toddler and pregnant is going to be really fun! Ha

ZebraZeebra Tue 03-Jun-14 06:19:49

Took another test this morning - different brand, no line. This is torturous.

MrsCK Tue 03-Jun-14 06:33:46

Oh zebra it could be a different sensitivity? A line is a line after all!!! test again at the weekend if you can bear to wait!

ZebraZeebra Tue 03-Jun-14 06:59:53

Thanks MrsCK my instinct is it's all ok. Feel very dodgy - sick and bloated. My stomach has gone rock hard like last time. I bought some internet cheapie a and they're arriving at the weekend. I guess it's just a waiting game.

CursiveLetters Tue 03-Jun-14 10:13:32

How is everyone feeling today? I've had a cold lately, who knows if its pregnancy or not and I'm now hacking up giant sticky globs. What fun!

Felt really uncomfortable last night, just achey all over but am feeling fine today.

JacktheLab Tue 03-Jun-14 11:12:14

Morning all,

Still very few symptoms here! I was worried enough I do another digi test yesterday, it showed that I'm one week further on from last week, so feeling a bit more reassured grin

Zebra, fingers crossed for you, can you get hold of a digital test which would tell you how many weeks you are?

Got an appointment at the docs on Friday, but I vaguely remember not having my first appointment with the midwives until I was 14 weeks so ages to go!

One weird symptom I seem to have is going off my food a bit, with my ds I was always hungry so maybe a girl?wink

chypie2011 Tue 03-Jun-14 12:18:44

Hello can I join?, ive just found out that im pregnant with baby number 2 and im really excited but nervous, I had pre eclampsia with the first and pregnancy brings back so many awful memories, so hoping this one will be better. Congratulations to all on the thread!!!

EMac66 Tue 03-Jun-14 12:24:24

Hi all, been a few days since I posted because I had a few issues and - sorry if this upsets and frightens some of you - turns out I miscarried yesterday sad
We had barely been trying a week when I fell pregnant so I can't get too down - onwards and upwards! Good luck to all of you and I am praying for safe pregnancies. Enjoy every second!! xx

JacktheLab Tue 03-Jun-14 12:49:33

Oh eMac sorry for your news, hope you are ok though and best of luck for the future x

carmen87 Tue 03-Jun-14 12:55:13

Sorry to hear eMac, that's my biggest fear right now! All the best for the future x

persepolis123 Tue 03-Jun-14 13:40:16

I'm so sorry to hear that emac. Hoping you will get a sticky bean soon x

lydie same here. We only decided at the end of April to ttc again and we missed the fertile window so May was our first month of trying. I was thinking it would be great if it happened within six months as DS took 11 months to conceive.

We initially wanted a 3-4 year age gap but all being well it will only be 27 months which is a bit scary. DS is still so small and dependent on me. Will probably still be in nappies too.

ZebraZeebra Tue 03-Jun-14 14:18:28

oh Emac I'm very sorry to hear that. I'm sure you'll get a sticky bean very soon, I think you're most fertile after a miscarriage.

I got two BFNs and a BFP today, still so faint as to be barely there though. Sick to my stomach all day, massive boobs. I'm just gonna have to wait it out - money is pretty tight and I can't afford to spend it on CBs or FR - they're so expensive! It will become apparent if I'm pregnant or not (and I think I am!) soon enough.

ZebraZeebra Tue 03-Jun-14 14:21:17

Persepolis DS will also be 27 months if all is well with this pregnancy. I got upset last night, thinking about how much I love him and how he was when he was first born. We co-sleep - it was planned - and though he's sleeping through reliably, sometimes he stirs when I come to bed. I was getting mildly anxious last night thinking about how I'd get to bed with new baby without disturbing DS.

persepolis123 Tue 03-Jun-14 16:12:42

We still co-sleep too zebra. Think we will need a super king size mattress for when the new baby arrives. At the moment we only have a double and it’s a bit of a squeeze with three of us especially with the way DS likes to spread out.

I will speak to DP tonight about booking a private scan. I expect he will say it’s a lot of money and we should wait but if I really wanted to I doubt he would object.

mrshjb Tue 03-Jun-14 16:13:59

Sorry to hear your news Emac thanks

Congratulations to all the newbies! Someone asked me at some point where I'd read about morning sickness has usually kicked in by the end of the 6th week but I'm not sure to be honest because I've read so much stuff over the last couple of weeks. I'll be 6 weeks tomorrow (by my calculations) and it seems like such a milestone!!

Does anyone know whether the midwife will calculate your due date based on your lmp and then correct it at the scan or whether they will take in to account your cycle length? Based on my lmp I would be a week further on then I think I am, so part of me thinks I don't want to tell them so I can have a scan earlier but part of me thinks I should just tell the truth. But then I don't know if they would listen to me anyways?!

kalidasa Tue 03-Jun-14 16:36:28

Really sorry to hear that emac, hope you are feeling OK. I had two early losses before DS and conceived again the following month both times, so it can happen again pretty quickly if you'd be open to that. On the other hand, if you would prefer to have a bit of a break, don't assume you won't be fertile within a fortnight - the second time I think it would have been better if we'd waited a bit but it seemed so unlikely.

mrshjb I chart my cycles carefully and have always known exactly when I conceived. My cycles are irregular though so this is never 14 days after my period. But in my experience doctors will never believe you know your own cycle, so what I have always done is to give as the date of my LMP the date 14 days before I knew I conceived! On the other hand, in your circs if you give your real LMP you might get the scan earlier as you say. If there's a discrepancy between LMP date and scan date then, yes, they'll correct your notes in favour of the scan date in my experience.

zebra my DS will be 25 months I think when the baby arrives, if this pregnancy works out.

I have started being sick now despite loads of drugs and total bed rest (have been in bed for weeks as I had v. severe HG last time and trying to avoid it happening as badly again). Bit depressing. On the plus side I am 5+6 today and it was 5+6 that I got sent to A&E and admitted to the hospital for the first time last time. So at least I've got this far without that happening! Hate being so medicated at this early stage though. Have lost weight already too as eating such a struggle.

Hope no one else is feeling too bad.

carmen87 Tue 03-Jun-14 18:36:23

I can't wait for these next few weeks to be over! Im so scared that I could m/c again! Although I'm doing my best not to think about it's so hard! Esp when last night I had horrible back ache the as when I was m/c !

Really thinking bout going for a early scan x

sophspot Tue 03-Jun-14 19:02:43

Memphisbelly Tue 03-Jun-14 19:18:03

Those worrying about co sleeping with a toddler and a baby..... What about sleeping with a toddler and a baby bump? Dh and me barely fit in the bed together with a bump last time....he is worried he will be relegated to the spare room! grin

carmen87 Tue 03-Jun-14 19:40:21

Doesn't help my partners not all supportive! I had a small bowl of oven chips for tea and he's having ago saying it's not healthy, not because if being pregnant but because I'll get fat! He says I've put loads of weight on in the past month and when I tryed to explain I'm 4 weeks 5 days preg it will be bloating as the same thing happened last time, he's having none of it! Was only a few month ago he wouldn't let me join a gym! Can't win! X

ZebraZeebra Tue 03-Jun-14 19:41:17

Oh Carmen, try not to worry. I know it's hard.

I'm desperately trying not to think about the very faint line and subsequent BFNs I've had. I had two BFns today and one very very very faint BFP. What will be will be. I'm actually not holding out much hope but AF isn't here and that's as good as I can get right now.

I actually feel a bit of a fraud being on this thread but goddamn, I got a BFP! smile We will see what happens.

Mimosa1 Tue 03-Jun-14 20:14:28

Oh emac, I'm so sorry to hear it. I hope you're surrounded with lots of TLC.

sophspot Tue 03-Jun-14 20:44:29

Thanks for the updated list jackthelab smile

MrsCK Tue 03-Jun-14 21:31:00

Thanks jack for the list. It will hopefully be my DC1!

Regarding early scans...I too am petrified of a mc so really want to have one. However I do have a medical condition and I'm hoping it's the only time it'll benefit me in this pregnancy in getting me an early scan! I'll probably be classed as high risk which means my dream of a water birth won't happen sad so I'm definitely going to try and push for an early scan!!!

jdr1234 Tue 03-Jun-14 22:14:45

Evening all-I have been taking the pregnacare conception tablets for past few months and have finished so am switching to pregnacare plus tomorrow, is anyone else taking these and any issues with them?

chypie2011 Tue 03-Jun-14 23:20:01

Thank you Jack the lad, my EDD is 9/02/15 [smike]

chypie2011 Tue 03-Jun-14 23:20:45

Memphisbelly Tue 03-Jun-14 23:22:19

Jdr yes I started these around a week ago and had no problems, the conception ones made my urine lurid yellow colour but nothing like that on these.

New symptom is my boobs look really veiny already, they were like road maps by the time I had ds, that was something I put out of my mind until now! Not attractive!

DoYouWannaBuildaSnowman Tue 03-Jun-14 23:27:39

So sorry to hear that emac sad

Thanks for the list jack this will be my DC1 too

Felt really rough today, not like I was actually going to be sick but a lot worse than I was feeling last week! I'm finding it difficult to concentrate at work, counting down til my holiday on Monday - 2 whole weeks off smile

My booking in appointment is the week I get back, so 9 weeks, and I don't see anyone before then - will she refer me for my scan? Seems like such a long time to wait, and I'm really hoping not having the first appointment til 9 weeks won't mean I have to wait even longer for the scan

Memphisbelly Tue 03-Jun-14 23:32:53

Doyouwanna I don't think it will put back scan, every nhs trust is different but in our area they give you scan date on your appointment, I have been told they will get me a scan booked within the week of my appointment.

carmen87 Wed 04-Jun-14 08:13:08

I'm taken folic acid and a women's health mum to be that the chemist advised me to take! Only really been taken it two days at the moment though x

persepolis123 Wed 04-Jun-14 08:21:45

doyouwanna they don't see us until 10 weeks around here but with DS I got a scan date for 12 weeks in the post a couple of days after my booking in.

MrsBeeBeeBee Wed 04-Jun-14 11:42:17

Hello ladies! New here, got my BFP this morning.

Due date 9th Feb.
This is #2 with a 2yr 10mth gap between them.

MrsCK Wed 04-Jun-14 12:15:11

jdr I am having problems with pregnacare at the moment and don't think I will try and take anymore. I take tablets every day for another condition, so I am used to it...but after trying the pregnacare plus the tablets are huge. They have made me vomit twice now and even the thought of them makes me feel sick. I have little folic acid ones which go down nicely so I think I will stick to them!!

MsFrazzles Wed 04-Jun-14 12:16:30

Hi, can I join you please? My EDD is 30 Jan, but feel more at home on this thread! So I'm nearly 6 weeks, first pregnancy. Found out by chance really early and have been struggling a bit. I suffer from anxiety anyway and this has really kicked it off big time. I'm terrified that I will do something to harm the baby's development and now I'm worrying that the worrying will hurt the baby! I'm seeing a CBT counsellor so hopefully that will help.
My husband and I have been married 2 years and only started trying last month! We didn't expect it to happen so soon but he is so excited.
We're also moving house later this month so lots going on... Fingers crossed I will be able to stay on top of the anxiety...

Mimosa1 Wed 04-Jun-14 12:20:01

Thanks, jack, for maintaining the list. This is going to be my DC1 :-)

donkir Wed 04-Jun-14 13:57:38

Hi there, can I join please. We got our BFP on Saturday night. Due 8th February. We're so excited. I already have a son who's 12 so there will be a big gap. Anyone else got such a big gap?

Memphisbelly Wed 04-Jun-14 15:18:10

Welcome to everyone new!

Mrsfrazzles hopefully talking through your anxiety with cbt and people around you (and us) it will help, I suffer anxiety about a lot of things, got quite bad pnd after ds and I am feeling positive so far, I spoke to HV before I concieved and they want to keep in touch through pregnancy so that once baby is born I am more at ease with them.

We head on Honeymoon tomorrow, I am all packed, house needs a quick tidy in morning before we go, we are back Tues, expecting lots of newbies to arrive on thread over the weekend

tonightsthekindofnight Wed 04-Jun-14 15:43:17

Hi everyone, been lurking a little while but please may I join. Got a bfp on Friday and it was a very happy shock. My son is 5 and my daughter is 12 months so we weren't planning for #3 so soon but I am delighted. Think my edd is around feb4th but I've only just stopped bf my daughter so haven't had a period since I gave birth. This guess is from clearblue plus my guess at conception!! Lovely reading all your posts.

flirty30s Wed 04-Jun-14 20:09:43

So sorry emac will be thinking of you. Just take some time to yourself, drink lots of wine, and do some nice couple things. I was same situation as you, got preg first go then lost early. I got my bfp 2 months later and am praying it sticks. Fx you get a sticky bean soon too. Welcome to tonight, frazzle and all the other febbies!! smile

Doodlekitty Wed 04-Jun-14 21:00:46

Hi all. Got my bfp this morning. Baby number 2 due 9th feb, but number 1 was 2 weeks late.

Viperama Thu 05-Jun-14 00:06:59

Hi All, just got my BFP 10 minutes ago, big waves to my bus buddies! I was gagging to get over here smile

Due date Feb 9th, #1, emc in February so I'm cautiously optimistic.

Mrsm14 Thu 05-Jun-14 07:30:24

msfrazzles I have had cbt for panic disorder and have suffered with health anxiety. It is a worrying time but I'd say try to remember that holds for everyone and give yourself a break. We will all be excited, then worried; happy then tearful. It's nothing to worry about in itself and I am sure these little ones can be pretty resilient smile I feel for you though - I'm working in a fairly new job, doing final exams and coursework for a college course, and today have to do a presentation to over 100 people - complete bundle of anxiety!!

Question for everyone - I had my first doctor's appointment last night and all my calculations from things online etc say I am 6+1 - doctor said I am 7. Anyone else had this? Want to believe her but keep thinking she must've made a mistake!

Memphisbelly Thu 05-Jun-14 07:39:44

Mrsm it does happen, my friends doc put her two weeks ahead so she got her scan earlier then they calculated her just one week ahead, if doc is wrong thing positive that you will get scanned earlier then if below 12 weeks once you get there they will want to scan you again so they can do the 12 weeks checks, two extra views of baby!

mrshjb Thu 05-Jun-14 07:51:01

It's because they go from a 28 day cycle with ovulation on day 14 so for most people they're not accurate at all! I'm pretty sure the same thing will happen to me when I have my midwife appointment!

Congratulations to everyone who has joined recently!

Memphisbelly Thu 05-Jun-14 08:04:26

Really? My doc asked how long my cycle was to get an accurate date, funny how they all work so differently. Roll on Thursday so I can go to the midwife, doesn't feel real at all still.

mrshjb Thu 05-Jun-14 08:12:39

Ah maybe they are different then. It does make more sense for them to ask your cycle length! I'm just going off what my friends said! My midwife appt isn't until Monday 16th!

carmen87 Thu 05-Jun-14 08:43:57

Anyone else has back ache at night when in bed? Lower back, I have for the past 3 nights! I'm just panicking coz it was the same pain I got on the night I m/c maybe not as bad! I am all panicky lol 5 weeks on Friday this week has flew over which is good

Mrsm14 Thu 05-Jun-14 08:53:56

Just phoned midwife and they won't see me until 11 weeks sad

Mimosa1 Thu 05-Jun-14 15:54:36

Carmen I've has the same - lower back pain at night, especially on the right side. Trying not to worry as I understand that can be quite normal- ligaments stretching, etc.
I am having a scan at 6w+0 days on Sat. Has anyone done one then ? Could you tell me what to expect?
Warm wishes to you all! X

Mimosa1 Thu 05-Jun-14 15:54:51

NowThenMardyBum Thu 05-Jun-14 16:41:13

Can I join? BFP yesterday, EDD 3rd Jan. DC2 for me, DD is 14 months and a little gem.

ProudlymadeinSA Thu 05-Jun-14 17:07:30

Hi everyone. Great to see so many newcomers in the last week! Carmen - I've had all sorts of aches and pains and convinced myself I have been miscarrying about 6 times so far. I haven't. I think it's just ligaments stretching.

All of you wishing you were having early scans - a word of warning - I had one today (didn't ask for it, just turns out it's normal practice here in South Africa) at 6 weeks and though we could see the gestational sac and yolk sac there was no foetus. Gynae seemed to think that was fairly normal and has asked me to come back at 8 weeks. But now of course I'm worried something's wrong, even though today was the first day I had a little nausea and actually felt a tiny bit 'pregnant'. So if you are booking early... Don't book tooooooo early unless you are prepared for unnecessary stress!

Good luck everyone!

Mrsm14 Thu 05-Jun-14 17:27:26

So many of us on here now! Has anyone else had a sharp pain in their right ribcage?! I've been getting it every now and then for past couple of days. Period cramps have gone but feeling sort of tightness around abs now too.

misstiggiwinkle Thu 05-Jun-14 17:29:38

Hi all! Can I join? I think I'm due on about the 6th Feb... Pretty excited!

MrsB37 Thu 05-Jun-14 20:31:03

Hi, sorry I'm a bit late to join the party. I'm due either late Jan or early Feb 2015. It's my first baby and is the result of a frozen embryo transfer after 8 years of trying so is extremely precious. I had my first scan this week. They saw the yoke sac & embryo with a strong heartbeat (amazing)
But they also found I'd had a small internal bleed near where the embryo is implanted. They said not to worry too much but I can't help it. Has anyone else experienced this?

CursiveLetters Thu 05-Jun-14 20:48:04

MrsB37 wow, must feel amazing after 8 years! huge congrats smile

carmen87 Thu 05-Jun-14 21:10:51

Mrsb37 my last pregnancy I had a small internal bleed they said it was nothing to worry about.

I worry about everything I'm terrible!

Mrsm14 Thu 05-Jun-14 23:06:43

Oh god so should not Google things. Just googled shoulder pain and it comes up with ectopic pregnancy. Got myself all worried now.

persepolis123 Fri 06-Jun-14 11:00:06

Welcome to the newbies. What an exciting and nervewracking time.

The nausea I had has died down quite a lot now. I’m hoping it means I will get away without having sickness this time but only 5+3 so too early to tell. I have enquired about an early scan at 9/10 weeks and am waiting to hear back about availability. Don’t want it too early for the reasons mentioned, however tempting it is.

All being well we will need a double pushchair when baby arrives. Can’t believe how expensive they are. DP has a small number of shares in the company he works for which are worth a few hundred pounds. He has asked me to sell them and put the money towards the pushchair so I’ve done that today. It will be one of our only purchases as we still have everything we bought for DS. If it’s a girl we would buy new clothes obviously but she would have to make do with a blue bath grin

It feels like I’m tempting fate by even thinking about these kind of things but I’m so excited. I wish this month would hurry up and be over. Once I’ve had a scan and been told everything is ok I will be ‘allowed’ to start making plans.

persepolis123 Fri 06-Jun-14 11:00:57

mrsm stay away from google!

FlightofFancy Fri 06-Jun-14 14:16:58

Hi all,
I'll join you as I got a BFP this week, with a due date of somewhere around 8 Feb or thereabouts. It's my second - I've got a DS who is 4 1/2, so will be 5 by the time the new one is here (all being well, cross fingers etc). It's an intentional big gap to cope with childcare costs and work etc - as I'm a full time work-out-of-home mum.
I'm about 5 and a bit weeks I think - not too focused on due date as DS was 3 weeks early. Generally feeling OK - a bit rough round the edges though. I'm getting indigestion - lots of burping going on - and occasionally feeling faintly queasy. I'm feeling really bloated as well so have had to undo the belt a notch! Quite tired, but not sleeping very well. It's a bit different, as I didn't really get any symptoms at all with DS.
We're not telling anyone until we're safely past the 12 week scan and bloods. I must admit I've not bothered calling the Dr's yet - as it'll just be a booking in appointment with the midwife at 9-10 weeks, so will give it another couple of weeks to be sure it's staying put!
Apologies now if I dip in and out of conversation, I'm not online every day, but will try and keep up with all your good news and add anything I can from previous experience!

Mrsm14 Fri 06-Jun-14 15:27:47

persepolis I know! Called gp as I was vomiting last night so seeing him later. Fingers crossed it's all fine. We were considering a scan at 7 or 8 weeks - is 9 a better time then? Spoke to Midwife clinic on the phone, as they won't get me in till 11 weeks, and they said I might not get a scan till 14 weeks - don't think I can wait that long! Service around here seems really delayed compared to other places.

Congrats new joiners!

persepolis123 Fri 06-Jun-14 16:31:45

I’m bleeding. Have called the midwife and waiting for a call back sad

mrshjb Fri 06-Jun-14 16:47:16

Hope everything is ok Persepolis thanks

persepolis123 Fri 06-Jun-14 16:59:34

I've got a scan on monday afternoon. Going to be a long weekend.

freneticfox Fri 06-Jun-14 17:04:59

Got my first BFP this morning, still can't believe it! All the online calculators put me as Due 12th Feb, so I guess I can pop in here...?

mrshjb Fri 06-Jun-14 17:09:32

It must be so hard, but I've heard of plenty of people who bleed and everything is absolutely fine, so hopefully that's the case for you too.

JacktheLab Fri 06-Jun-14 17:44:54

Perse, hugs from me, I've also heard loads of stories of people bleeding and the baby being fine, so I'm sure it'll be the same for you smile

Well, I took the day off to go to the doctors and then she said, oh no, you have to see the midwife now - arghhhhh! Waste of a days annual leave and I will have to take more leave off at the end of the month too. Had a niceish day with my husband though pottering around town together so it wasnt't too annoying smile

Five weeks tomorrow, time is going by very very slowly!

persepolis123 Fri 06-Jun-14 19:10:25

Thanks everyone. It's only small amounts of blood so I'm hoping it doesn't get any worse over the weekend. Have been told to go to a&e if it does. I don't want to ruin the thread for anyone else so will probably be quiet until Monday. Will let you know how it goes.

tonightsthekindofnight Fri 06-Jun-14 20:06:34

I bled with both my pregnancies, fairly heavily with the first and fortunately both occasions, it was fine. I know it's easier said than done but please try not to worry too much.

Mrsm14 Fri 06-Jun-14 22:36:51

persepolis hope everything is ok

persepolis123 Sat 07-Jun-14 01:10:20

Looks like I've miscarried. Have been to a&e and my urine test came back negative. Blood test showed my hormone levels are almost back to normal. The doctor said that's probably why I've felt so ill the last few days.

I will bow out of the thread now but wish you all healthy pregnancies and babies. Take care of yourselves.

mrshjb Sat 07-Jun-14 06:49:16

I'm so sorry to hear that. Look after yourself thanks

JacktheLab Sat 07-Jun-14 07:17:22

Aw ww perse, sad news, be kind to yourself x

Mimosa1 Sat 07-Jun-14 08:12:00

persepolis I'm so sorry to hear it. I hope you have lots of support in RL. I am thinking of you and sending you all good wishes.

DH and I are going for our first scan this morning at 6w. We want some reassurance before telling our parents and siblings. I've also been offered a new job and deciding what to tell them if/before I accept the offer. I'm pretty nervous.

Xx Mimosa

tonightsthekindofnight Sat 07-Jun-14 08:16:16

Perse, so sorry to hear that. Hope you can be gentle with yourself this weekend, thinking of you x

Mrsm14 Sat 07-Jun-14 10:02:50

persepolis so sorry to hear this. Hope you have lots of love and support around you. Take good care of yourself x

Mimosa1 Sat 07-Jun-14 11:15:15

made I've just had the same thing as you. Had a 6 week scan and could not see the foetal pole although gestational and yolk sacs were visible. Sonographer said I could be earlier than expected and to come back in a week. Fx all well for us both

mrshjb Sat 07-Jun-14 11:31:55

Do they give you the second scan for free?

Mimosa1 Sat 07-Jun-14 15:17:03

Hi mrshjb,
I think it depends where you're based. In my area you can self refer to the epu if you think there's an issue although we went private for this first scan and will for the second (sadly not for free even though first was inconclusive :-( ) I'm making some decisions about job stuff in the next couple weeks so it's worth it for me, but otherwise would just wait until booking appointment.

Had a proper night's sleep last night and still managed a 3 hr nap this afternoon. Is anyone else sleeping the weekends away ? Cannot keep my eyes open at the mo. Better getup and get cracking though. My mother is coming to visit tomorrow and flat is a tip so will be spending the rest of the afternoon tidying up.

Xx Mim

ProudlymadeinSA Sat 07-Jun-14 15:36:03

Persepolis - so sorry to hear your news. Hope you are with loved ones. We are all thinking of you.

ProudlymadeinSA Sat 07-Jun-14 15:40:58

Mimosa1 - I really don't think we should worry too much. I think my dates may have been a bit out. I was comforted to read that the yolk sac doesn't appear until 5.5 weeks, so that's definitely a good sign. My gynae seemed to think the foetus was probably hiding behind the yolk sac. I finally have pretty bad nausea and am feeling much more tired than normal. Hoping these are good things. Happy napping. Hope all went well with your mum. We have some friends coming for lunch tomorrow and the thought of eating the chilli we've already pre-made makes my stomach turn a bit! Eek.

carmen87 Sat 07-Jun-14 17:09:05

Hey everyone! Hope ur all well! I'm extremely tired n had my first bit of morning sickness today! I had got tomorrow off work put a holiday in but now they have said I have to go in as they expect it to be busy! So not looking forward to it x

Lydiejo Sat 07-Jun-14 18:07:24

Oh perse. I'm sorry to hear that. Sending hugs your way. Hoping you are surrounded by love and support at home.

mrshjb Sun 08-Jun-14 09:02:53

Hey how is everyone this morning? Anyone started with cravings yet? I can't get enough of salt and vinegar crisps mmmm mmmm mmmm!!

WarmSummerBreeze Sun 08-Jun-14 10:14:04

Morning all!

Feeling a bit rotten here. Got up at 4am feeling nauseous (needed a mid sleep pee) and decided to take a tub of chopped melon back to bed to bring my blood sugar up. Ceremoniously brought it all up an hr later.

I am travelling overnight with work this week. Really dreading it. At least when I'm home I can get back in bed and whine to hubby.

Anyone else started vomiting yet? I'm due 7/8 weeks at the moment.

JacktheLab Sun 08-Jun-14 13:38:44

Not feeling vommy, but I need to batch cook some chilli this afternoon, not sure I feel entirely up to it tbh!

JacktheLab Sun 08-Jun-14 15:13:15

I spoke too soon, hello morning sickness in the afternoon bleurgh!

SpandexBallet Sun 08-Jun-14 18:36:29

Anyone else's boobs hurting? How is it possible that my boobs are growing at such an astronomical rate!! DP is starting to accept our surprise news just because of them, although he can't come near me because they are so tender!!

I did have a coil fitted so had a scan on Friday but it was too early to see much, there was fluid but they weren't sure about yolk sac or heartbeat.
No sign of the missing coil!
I get to go back for a repeat scan this Friday to see if they can find it and hopefully there will be some progress.
Already a nervous wreck!!

ToriB34 Sun 08-Jun-14 18:52:39

Can I join this thread please? I got a positive on a clear blue test today, only 4 weeks and 2 dats since my lmp. Its surprised us a bit as it was our first month of trying after our honeymoon.

I was going to leave it a couple of weeks before contacting gp/ midwife but not sure if I should get in touch sooner. I have this recurrent pain in my kidney region around the time of af. But this month it started around the time I think ovulated and has carried on, so I might go back and see if it could be hormone related? Has anyone else had this?

mrshjb Sun 08-Jun-14 19:14:28

Welcome to the new people smile spandex have I read that properly... you've got pregnant with the coil in and the coil is still in? Yeah my boobs have n sore for a few weeks now. Bras are getting tighter too!

Tori sorry no experience on the kidney pain front! I'd ring the doctor and let them know and see what they say!

Jack I've been feeling sick at all times of the day. Definitely not just a morning thing!!!

SpandexBallet Sun 08-Jun-14 19:33:36

Well the note I had to take to my scan said
Coil in situ?!?
Pregnancy of unknown length?!?
Pregnancy of unknown numbers?!?
Pregnancy of unknown location?!?

Gave me loads of confidence. My dr was rather shocked to say the least. They can't find my coil so looks like it's gone wandering but I'm sure I would of noticed it coming out

mrshjb Sun 08-Jun-14 19:41:18

Haha so basically they don't know anything at all then?! I've never had the coil but from what I've heard I'd be pretty surprised of it just dropped out without you noticing! Have you done a clear blue digi with the timescale on to try and give you a bit of an idea?!

SpandexBallet Sun 08-Jun-14 20:03:51

mrs that's basically it, they have no clue. Although they laughed at the fact I've done 20 Tests to make sure I wasn't imagining things hah!!
I hadn't thought of a clear blue digi. I think I'm just quite early. I'll see how the scan looks on Friday. Hopefully all good news

Mimosa1 Sun 08-Jun-14 21:16:52

Welcome spandex and tori

Sorry to hear about the morning sickness, jack. I've bought those sea-sickness bands off amazon and they seem to be helping a bit.

We told DH's family and my mother today. It was so lovely to hear their excitement. DSIL said she'd guessed because when I went to visit last weekend, I was so tired and wasn't drinking any alcohol or caffeine...
Wishing you all a great week ahead xx

LittleMissSunshine33 Sun 08-Jun-14 21:27:07

Hi everyone I am cautiously popping my head in as I had a MC in March so am a little scared to say it out loud at the moment but if all goes well I will be due 14th February!!
Trying hard not to get too excited but my stomach is bloated and little tight pulls keeps happening on my right side (hope that's normal?!) My boobs hurt even if I knock them with my arm but every niggle reminds me something is happening!

ToriB34 Sun 08-Jun-14 22:27:04

Hi littlemiss... I should be due on feb 14th too. I have what feels like a pulled muscle on my left side but I can only really feel it I am laid on that side x

bellaboo88 Sun 08-Jun-14 23:04:21

Hi ladies, got my bfp yesterday. Really thrown by my edd date tho as different websites give different dates but I'm going with 13th/14th.

Feel like a fraud, im thirsty, have bum sick & 'stretching' dull ache things!

This is my first! I've recently started a new job, dernt tell them till I'm miles further along! Xx

Burmama Mon 09-Jun-14 06:50:31

Morning ladies, I'm hard-core into the nauseous phase now too jack and warmsummerbreeze sad only one day of vomming though when I was really tired and stressed. Being tired definitely seems to make it loads worse. Hope everyone can get some sleep! xxx

perrinelli Mon 09-Jun-14 13:32:28

Hello there, just wanted to say hello.
Still in shock really - just got bfp today, clear blue digital estimates conception 2-3 wks ago so reckon that makes me due in feb. Got massive mixed feelings! This will be dc3 and we had kind of decided to stop at 2....
Am really anxious about telling DH. He phoned earlier but didn't want to tell him over the phone so will do it later.
Am also worrying about how I'll cope as found just 1 then 2 really hard in the newborn stage. I have had an early cm before too and really don't want to go through that again.
Despite all the worries though I know it's such a blessing!

SpandexBallet Mon 09-Jun-14 19:45:46

Hi perrinelli have you told your DH yet? Welcome, I'm guessing yours is surprise news too!
How are you feeling about it all?

JacktheLab Mon 09-Jun-14 20:21:03

Hi guys,

hope you have all had a good weekend?

I had such a busy day today, no sickness though which is a good and a bad thing cos I start worrying, daft eh?

Hello everyone new smile

I have knitting, fruity tea and daft telly on so the dogs and I are set, plus the Boy is upstairs fast asleep after a relatively easy bedtime - hurrah!!!

perrinelli Mon 09-Jun-14 20:42:01

Hi there, yes told him about 10 mins ago, was so nervous! He was brilliant and v pragmatic & reassuring. I did warn him a while back that he should perhaps get that snip he's been talking about if he really didn't want a 3rd as I am pretty rubbish at remembering to take my pill. So he had been warned!

ProudlymadeinSA Mon 09-Jun-14 20:49:10

Spandex - your doctor's notes made me laugh out loud. How frustrating! Hope Friday gives you some answers.

Well and truly into nauseous stage now too. Can't believe a week ago I was moaning about not having any symptoms. Now I feel like death warmed up. Luckily still keeping most food down but very cautious about what I eat and sticking to things like plain noodles. Stomach churning constantly. Not sure I can do this for another 6 weeks or more! How do people with hypermesis survive?!

Feeling very short changed also as boobs haven't grown at all and that is the one symptom I could use!

Good luck for the week ahead ladies...

ProudlymadeinSA Mon 09-Jun-14 20:49:50

Perrinelli - so glad it went well!

donkir Mon 09-Jun-14 22:17:54

Very excited we got the date for our first scan in post today. Not till the 29th July which just seems so far away at the moment. Even with the sore boobs (only symptom so far) it won't seem real until scan.

mrshjb Tue 10-Jun-14 07:13:35

Ooh very jealous about the scan date donkir. I can't wait to get mine, won't be until after I've had my midwife appointment which is next Monday but then hopefully it should be too long after that smile

proudly my boobs are killing too. I've had to go to asda to get some soft crop top style bras because the underwire in my usual bras is not my friend at all!!

Welcome and congratulations to all the new bfps smile

bellaboo88 Tue 10-Jun-14 07:57:59

Mrs & donkir, I'm (sad as it is) glad to know you've got the sore boulders/boobs too, they're agony...its all around the sides. I'm plastic fantastic so more implant than real breast tissue but they hurt everywhere!

Sleeping was a nightmare :-(

Just planning a creative way to tell my parents on fathers day...I'm thinking a cake with a little pram on the front maybe? If I can steal my mums letter cut outs I'll do 'you're going to be grandparents :-) xx

FinickityCoder Tue 10-Jun-14 09:55:58

Cautiously saying hello smile

Huge surprise BFP yesterday with an internet cheapie, confirmed this morning with a CB Digi 1-2 weeks. I was on the pill and we'd planned to start trying next April so it's come as a bit a lot of a shock! We actually only DTD once this month and that was May 31st so still very very early days here. I'm surprised I've had a BFP show up so soon tbh as it took quite a while to get a clear BFP with our son. Very excited though, despite the shock grin

I think EDD is around 19th Feb and this will be baby number 2. We already have a 2 year old.

Pregnancy symptoms are in full swing here. Nausea (didn't have it until 6/7 weeks with DS!), boobs hurt, exhaustion and lots of cramping which I remember from last time so trying not to worry about those.

Looking forward to hopefully passing the next 8ish months with you all. Here's hoping it passes quickly and uneventfully smile

Memphisbelly Tue 10-Jun-14 16:35:59

Welcome newbies!

Well I am back from our Honeymoon! We went to Marrakesh and I had to stay away from the markets and alleys as the smell made me wretch. One day I had a Pizza hut as the smells got to me so much I couldn't stomach anything else! Thought it was me being weak stomached but I have been the same today, had no morning sickness with ds so this is all new, I am also very swollen and my mum said I have looked ill for weeks, so I am not sure how long I can keep it hidden, I don't want to tell other family until after a scan which will hopefully be in a weeks time.
Its my bestfriends birthday on the 21st so I need to tell him then as its normally a boozy affair.

Spandex In regards to the coil do you know if you have a tilted womb? All of my family do (well the women) and mum and my sisters coil both fell out. shock

SpandexBallet Tue 10-Jun-14 16:56:32

memphis it's funny you should say that because yes I do! It's retroverted, well so I was told a few years ago although I never really knew what that meant!

I'm feeling really nauseous now, spend most of the night back and forth to the loo but couldn't actually be sick! Counting down the days until the scan Friday to make sure everything is in the right place!

jdr1234 Tue 10-Jun-14 17:04:01

Hi All
So I seem to be one of the lucky ones with very few symptoms still, boobs are tender and am tired and thirsty a lot but apart from that feel completely normal...def no sickness and no cravings.I know it sounds pathetic but if I had symptoms maybe it would be sinking in that im pregnant and I wouldn't be so nervous the whole time.
I am 7 weeks tomorrow and booked to have a private scan on Friday to try and hear the heartbeat, hopefully its not too early as need something to make this all feel real!
Is anyone else having very few symptoms?

GeekyHybrid Tue 10-Jun-14 19:15:26

Hello all, may I join the club please?! I've been lurking for a while, nervous as hell. My EDD is 4th Feb and it will be baby #1 (touch wood). I'm 38, we were ttc over a year and a mc at 5 weeks in Jan hence the nervousness. From lurking on MN I've discovered the word menkulling which I think is very apt for how I feel but hopefully chatting to you guys will help - just reading the thread already has, and answered loads of 'silly' questions, so I already want to say thanks to you all.

Memphisbelly Tue 10-Jun-14 19:30:17

Jdr123 it is very normal not to get many symptoms, I honestly don't feel pg just keep thinking the bloating etc is IBS or something or other. My boobs are normal again now also.

Geeky welcome!

I actually craved egg and marmite sandwiches on holiday but I think thats because its something I couldn't get there!

ToriB34 Tue 10-Jun-14 21:39:03

ive been wondering about the lack of signs thing too because ive had sore boobs and a bit of cramping for a couple of weeks but thats been it. In the last couple of days I've been getting really hungry, and while ive not been craving anything, my food choices are completely different - I just dont want the stuff I was eating before!

sophspot Tue 10-Jun-14 22:45:30

I'm the same with very few symptoms. Tender boobs and bloated tummy apart from that I wouldn't know I was 6 weeks pregnant. Feels reassuring that its not that uncommon to feel like this. Told both sets of parents today which was lovely. Now to tell work this week which is not so lovely as I do a physical/strenuous job and they need to know for my own safety.

Mrsm14 Tue 10-Jun-14 23:03:57

Hi all. Doing ok here. Bit nauseous occasionally but no sickness. I have started having the odd heart flutter / palpitations though which has been freaking me out, especially since I've had panic attacks in the past. Anyone else had any palpitations? I'm 7 weeks tomorrow.

Burmama Wed 11-Jun-14 06:20:04

That's interesting memphis my boobs did exactly the same thing, were quite big and sore for weeks 4 and 5 and now at week 6 they (and I) feel back to normal and my bras fit again! Anyone else have that? Bit weird, never heard it before. Also welcome geeky, congrats! smile

LittleMissSunshine33 Wed 11-Jun-14 06:27:39

Jdr123 I'm the same I feel bloated and little pulling sensations which is nice as it reminds me it's there throughout the day and my boobs are sore!
Am telling my parents tonight by giving my Dad his Fathers Day card which is actually a grandad card ... This is how I gave my OH the news by giving him a lovely from the bump card.
Is anyone else finding work more stressful? I think it's because I'm worrying more but only 6 weeks til summer hols need to stay relaxed!! grin

GeekyHybrid Wed 11-Jun-14 06:56:35

Thank you for the welcome. Yes LittleM, I'm finding work more stressful, mainly because I haven't told anyone but like sophspot my job is physical/strenuous and being outdoors in this heat is not going well with the ongoing nausea. Feel bad telling my boss as he and his wife have been ttc for ages with no success but think I'm going to have to. We're a close team so dreading 'upsetting' him. Hey ho.

Memphisbelly Wed 11-Jun-14 07:03:05

Burmama I think it is just a surge of hormones and after the surge they settle for a big.

I have mw tomorrow, hope doc is right and she gives me a scan date, I am worrying now that they will scan and say its all in my imagination

mrshjb Wed 11-Jun-14 07:08:49

Hey everyone. I'm seven weeks today and I have the a lot of symptoms. A lot of nausea but no sickness thankfully!

I've had palpations when doing stuff as well. Happened to my sister and the doctor just said it's because your heart is working so much faster and nothing to worry about so I'm going with that too!

Interested to hear what you see at a 7 week scan. I've wanted to go for one but dh thinks it's a waste of money!

Congratulations to newbies smile

mrshjb Wed 11-Jun-14 07:10:11

Just seen the last messages. I'm finding work not knowing hard too. It'll be good when they can make slight allowances for me. And I'm also worried about being scanned and me having dreamt it all!!!

LittleMissSunshine33 Wed 11-Jun-14 07:15:08

Greek if they've been ttc I think they are more likely to understand. I think I will wait until the week before we break up for Summer to tell my boss but I may tell the ladies I work closely with after a few weeks as they no I was ttc.
Memphis how many weeks are you? My MW won't see me for a couple of weeks but I'm only 5 weeks blush

mrshjb Wed 11-Jun-14 07:27:32

The midwives here won't see you until your 8 weeks so my first appointment is next week!

Mrsm14 Wed 11-Jun-14 07:27:34

I'm def finding it hard at work. Feel much more tired and I work in quite a sociable place, so they're constantly trying to arrange after work stuff. I'm normally the first to say yes and feel like I'm running out of excuses! On holiday from next week and, all being well, ten weeks on return. Think I might get private scan so I can tell people, as we might not get one till 14 weeks on nhs.

Telling our parents on Friday and have told my sister and best mate too.

Mrsm14 Wed 11-Jun-14 07:50:49

Oh also - feel really bloated but got on the scales today and have lost two pounds in the last fortnight. Trying to eat plenty and actually feeling a bit upset I've lost weight! Hoping it's just because I've cut out booze and morning latte and I won't lose anymore. So ironic, given a few weeks ago I wanted to lose a few pounds before this holiday!

FinickityCoder Wed 11-Jun-14 07:59:22

Well my Mom, Sister and Aunty now know. I told my sister but Mom and Aunty guessed! I spent 5 minutes denying it but they wouldn't give up and I'm a terrible liar so I crumbled in the end. Feel worried I've 'jinxed' things now by telling them so early which is probably hopefully a bit daft!

You can just contact your midwife direct here and they take your details then send you an appt to book in so no need to see a Doctor. Booking in appointments aren't until 10 weeks here so I'm going to leave it a few weeks before I ring them.

Memphisbelly Wed 11-Jun-14 08:19:37

Littlemiss I have a medical condition so I need to be monitored from early on, ds also had an ectopic twin with him so they just want to make sure its all ok, I am not turning down an offer of an esrly scan wink I wanted to pay for one so was happy when doc said they would do one for me
They like to do midwife booking in here at 7 weeks.

hanflan Wed 11-Jun-14 09:30:49

Morning all, mind if I join you? I got my bfp last week at 12dpo and I'm officially 4 weeks today! Very nervous as it's so early and I have no symptoms at all, not even sore boobs sad
Hoping it's just too early and not a bad sign!

donkir Wed 11-Jun-14 09:39:46

Mrsm14 I have also been keeping an I on my weight to and I've gone from 60.6 kg down to 60.2kg which is bizarre as everything just feels that bit tighter. Here in Suffolk we phone the midwife rather than doctor and she's referred me to my chosen hospital (who have sent scan date) have first midwife appointment next fri (7weeks) that's the only time I'll see them as everything else will be done at Addenbrookes.

jenmcspen Wed 11-Jun-14 11:53:33

Hi all smile Am 6 weeks today. Is my 1st pregnancy and have had a bit of a scary week as they thought I might be ectopic so have had two scans and lots of blood tests already. Scan yesterday seemed to show everything was ok and saw a heartbeat smile Feeling very relieved!

Nausea has kicked in now, feeling rotten at work sad and such painful breasts! Anyone have any good nausea remedies? Am just chomping on ginger biccies so far! hehe!

gincamelbak Wed 11-Jun-14 12:29:59

hello! can i join? i think i'm 5ish weeks with #2. due...start of february?
phoned the doctor surgery today to find out when i need to book in with the midwife and was told i need to see a doctor first. appointment next week. erk. ttc'd for 18 months, not always plain sailing and DH is keeping such a tight lid on any excitement he may have that he's positively stone like. ho hum.

feel bit naseous. lots tired. sore breasts. don't want to exercise at all. mostly scared/disbelieving. won't be telling anyone until after the 12wk scan, so another 7 weeks really of it just being me and DH who know.

those with children already - when are you thinking of telling them? i've a 3 year old and i had thought waiting it out until the 20wk scan or later. when i get a bump? (bloated already, look GIANT. thanks farts.) will ponder.

FlightofFancy Wed 11-Jun-14 12:59:46

gincamelbak I'm planning on leaving it as long as possible before telling DS as based on experience of other major events (holiday, birthday etc) I want to minimise the number of times I'm asked 'how long until...' to somewhere in the low 1,000s! On a more pragmatic note, if something does go wrong, I don't want him to have any idea about it.

He's familiar with other people having younger brothers/sisters, and has occasionally asked, but until it's visible, I should be OK. Then we'll get out the books!

Mimosa1 Wed 11-Jun-14 13:32:49

Hi ladies and welcome to the newbies.

Been off sick from work for the last 2 days with vile nausea. I'm waking up in the night feeling sick. I actually feel better after I've been sick - for a bit. Feeling a bit weepy and not sure how to cope with feeling this horrible for another month. Going to the doc tomorrow to see of there's anything they can do for me. My mother is staying with us and I feel about 6 (in a nice way) as she's been looking after me. Can't quite get my head around the fact that if all goes well, I'll be the one doing the looking after of a little baby soon!

jen haven't tried ginger bickies so will give those a whirl :-)

ProudlymadeinSA Wed 11-Jun-14 13:49:46

Mimosa - I am sick off work today too. The nausea is relentless and every day feels like a battle. Let us know how you you get on at the doctor, I'd be really interested to know what he/she recommends. Glad your mum is looking after you!

Jenmcspen - no magic bullets yet sadly. Lots of salty crackers, crisps and appletiser so far.

Welcome newcomers!

hanflan Wed 11-Jun-14 14:24:13

I haven't hit the nausea stage yet but one of my close friends in on her second pregnancy and she says the key is to not get hungry! Snacking little and often keeps the blood sugar up and nausea at bay, apparently smile

Mrsm14 Wed 11-Jun-14 14:30:13

I'm finding bananas and digestives good, as well as unsalted nuts. Definitely helps to eat little and often. I've only had proper puking once so far and that was after something too rich.

Welcome to all new bfps grin

freneticfox Wed 11-Jun-14 15:40:26

Today is the first day I've had to take a day off work, such a horrible night! Got a couple of hours sleep, was awake the rest of the time fighting the urge to throw up. Was not pleasant! I've got a really busy couple of weeks at work ahead so my GP has prescribed me some Promethazine to take at night to help me get some shut-eye.

As someone only just recovering emetophobia, I'm still keeping my fingers and toes crossed my nausea won't worsen!

FinickityCoder Wed 11-Jun-14 16:32:01

I can second your friend Hanflan. When I was pregnant with DS I couldn't face eating in the morning but if I didn't the sickness would be so much worse. I used keep a box of Frubes (the fromage frais in tubes) in the fridge. I found if I had one of those as soon as I got up in the morning the sickness would be slightly less awful! Also I'm okay with being sick on an empty stomach but I'm quite scared of vomiting if I've eaten (odd, I know!) and I could cope with bringing a Frube back up (sorry, far tmi blush ).

I've just remembered I had sickness bands too. Ordered them off Amazon or EBay, can't remember, and I think they helped a little. Probably a bit of a placebo effect though.

mrshjb Wed 11-Jun-14 16:57:50

I think being hungry is really not good for pregnant ladies. I seem to go from hungry to so starving I could throw up or pass out or something dramatic in about 2 minutes!! I try to snack as much as possible. Salt and vinegar crisps are really my friend at the minute.

hanflan I didn't start to feel shit for a good week or so until after I got my bfp (I tested at 15dpo ish). I kept saying how nervous I was because I didn't feel pregnant... and then it all starts to hit you! I'm only 7weeks today so I'm guessing it's just going to keep ramping up over the next few weeks. Wooohooo....!!! I've not had to have any days off work yet, but only because I keep thinking I can't use up sick days now in case it gets so much worse. I've definitely not felt up to going in a few times. But I've not actually been sick yet so I know it could be much worse!

Skye89 Wed 11-Jun-14 17:31:38

Hi everyone and welcome to the newbies,

Been fairly quiet as had bleeding which turned into spotting last week. I assumed it was all over but I didn't have any pain and the spotting was just brown and faded after a couple of days. I had the same on Monday though but a lot lighter. Saw the doctor today to get the ball rolling and he said its very common and as long as there's no abdominal pain its fine. He also took bloods an blood pressure and said I should hear from midwife in two weeks smile

hanflan I'm 6+4 and don't have many symptoms apart from constant need to pee. I've even had to get up in the early hours, think I'm going to get a uti at this rate!

Sorry to hear about how rubbish the morning sickness is making people feel, hope you find the things which help to calm it down soon!

Memphisbelly Wed 11-Jun-14 17:46:28

Well I vommited in Sainsburys floor, it came from knowhere blush
I habe been to
D arrowroot biscuits help. I am finding sipping Sprite keeps off wobblyness a bit. Dh wants to call his parents and tell the, I don't want them to know yet as mil tends to downplay things into nothing and make you feel your making a fuss.

As we will have a scan before 12 week one we are taking ds to our 12 week one, there is no way I could keep it quiet until 20 weeks. He walked around Mothercare pointing to things saying ' when i have a baby live with us I will buy him this, this and this'

freneticfox Wed 11-Jun-14 17:52:11

Skye that's my main symptom at the moment; I haven't really increased my fluid intake (I tend to drink plenty of water anyway) but I feel like I'm constantly on the loo, going to need to get wet wipe tissues if it carries on like this!

At the moment I think a lot of my nausea is anxiety, as I tend to be a worrier (I know this is very bad for me!) So making an effort to remain calm and try and enjoy this as much as I can smile

MsFrazzles Wed 11-Jun-14 18:05:43

Hello again and welcome to all the newbies!
Thanks for the encouragement re. my anxiety, I've had a couple of sessions of CBT now and starting to feel a little bit more hopeful. Still struggling around the area of food though and feel too scared to eat many different things in case I mess up.
Not feeling too dreadful, not actually been sick yet (I'm 6w4d) but soooo tired! I've literally been coming in from work (I have a long commute into London everyday), eating some dinner (hubby is doing a great job of trying to keep me eating) and then going to bed at 8.30ish! I've no idea how people do this who already have young children. I guess you just have to!
Got my first midwife appointment tomorrow - it's starting to feel more real now!

Becca1818 Wed 11-Jun-14 18:12:14

Hello! I am new. Got my bfp on 3rd June which puts my due date as 10th February. Got to wait until 1st July to see the midwife which feels like ages away. I haven't had many symptoms apart from tummy cramps and slightly sore boobs. Keep feeling the need to keep doing pregnancy tests to keep double checking!!

lawyeredout82 Wed 11-Jun-14 18:53:40

Hello! Please can I join this thread - I have been lurking and thought it was about time to add my stats! I am 5w+6 - I think this puts my EDD around 5th Feb. So exciting to be on here! This will hopefully be DC#1 for us - first month of TTC so quite a shock!!

JacktheLab Wed 11-Jun-14 21:34:16

Evening all, still here, not much happening, got dreadful insomnia last night, so been awake effectively since 3.30am! Incredibly not as knackered as I thought I might be though, especially without any coffee!

Hello everyone new, hello everyone else, hope all are well smile

I'm off to bed for hopefully a full and satisfying nights sleep grin

donkir Wed 11-Jun-14 22:18:08

Anyone else fed up of the bloatedness? I don't remember feeling like this with my son although it was 12years ago so could have forgotten. By the evening I'm so tight around the tummy and uncomfortable and look 7 months pregnant even though in only 5+5 weeks.

misschord Wed 11-Jun-14 22:18:11

Hi everyone, tentatively joining as I got my bfp on Sunday. I have a four-year-old who took 18 months to conceive, and it has been a long wait for this pregnancy. Fingers crossed for lots of sticky babies for us all. xxx

Memphisbelly Wed 11-Jun-14 23:15:16

Donkir I was really bloated last week, it went away and has appeared again tonight, didn't have this with ds either.

mrshjb Thu 12-Jun-14 05:46:13

I've been constantly bloated from the start. It's so hard trying to always wear baggy clothes to hide it all the time. Plus all my usual clothes are so uncomfortable!

Memphisbelly Thu 12-Jun-14 08:40:52

Mw in a couple of hours, I have to drop ds with my dad I hope he doesn't guess.

How is it posiible to wake up tired? i have gone to bed at 8 for last two nights.

bellaboo88 Thu 12-Jun-14 09:12:18

Ladies, just eating my brekkie & all I can smell is pepper. Dp sniffed it no pepper....have I got imaginary preggo smells now?!

mrshjb Thu 12-Jun-14 09:33:53

Haha sounds like it!! Enjoy smile

Burmama Thu 12-Jun-14 10:03:14

Hi becca and lawyer, welcome! and hello to everybody else smile sorry to hear about your nausea jen proudly and mimosa I've found that one salty biscuit in the morning is helping enormously. That, and eating pretty constantly throughout the day. Nausea seems to be worst at like 4am right after a pee (odd that) but, apart from one rough morning last week, I've been managing to keep it all down so far. Fingers crossed it lasts!

JacktheLab Thu 12-Jun-14 11:22:07

I made my husband sit at the other end of the living room to eat dinner last night because of the smell, the same thing as my ds and I had eaten a couple of hours previously!

Hello newbies I think might start a new thread on the weekend for the stats unless anyone else wants to do it?

mrshjb Thu 12-Jun-14 12:03:07

Haha it's crazy isn't it! My DH was drinking whisky over the other side of the room the other day and I could smell it like it was under my nose! Anyone know the reason for it?!

Stats sounds good to me smile

hanflan Thu 12-Jun-14 12:15:13

Apparently the smell thing is on an evolutionary level. Back before we had "best before" dates it would allow us to know instantly when something had gone off and would possibly be harmful in pregnancy!

hanflan Thu 12-Jun-14 12:15:44

Especially with meat etc in the caveman days haha

mrshjb Thu 12-Jun-14 12:44:49

That was my best guess but I wasn't sure! Aren't we clever smile!!!!!

hanflan Thu 12-Jun-14 12:53:28

It is amazing, I love how our instinct takes over during pregnancy. We crave what our body needs, we get all vommy over things we probably shouldn't eat, it's awesome smile

mrshjb Thu 12-Jun-14 13:04:50

Yeah it is true smile Not sure people who are constantly sick would agree with you though!

Have you told anyone yet?

hanflan Thu 12-Jun-14 13:08:44

Only my mum, sister, and best friend at the moment. Pretty much because I know I would need their support if anything should happen. I think DH's family will be told in a couple of weeks or so, whenever we see them really! What about you?

mrshjb Thu 12-Jun-14 13:27:00

mrshjb Thu 12-Jun-14 13:28:27

Yeah I'm the same for the same reasons. DH doesn't want anyone else to know until after the 12 week scan. It's hard not telling work though when you feel like crap all the time! Have you got your midwife appointment date?

hanflan Thu 12-Jun-14 13:30:46

Nope not yet, I have to see the GP first (next Wednesday!) and then he will sort out a referral. I'm dreading feeling crap at work. Actually I'm dreading the commute the most. Being on a packed train (often standing) wanting to chunder everywhere can't be too much fun sad

donkir Thu 12-Jun-14 15:45:38

My DS asked me to smell the milk this morning to serif it was off. Big mistake on his part I was retching for the next half hour. It was definitely off.

Memphisbelly Thu 12-Jun-14 16:27:31

Had midwife, she was very supportive, I gave birth at a hospital on other side of city last time, they were amazing but we have moved. I am unsure which one to go for and explained that I had PND and PTSD last time and worry sbout making a decision I regret so she said she will book the scans at nearer hospital and if I change my mind later on its just a phone call to change it!
She also said the amount we see her is less than last time but if I have any concerns, worries or just need a chat to just call her!
My scan is on Monday, dh is able to be there.
Had to sip water the whole time as im so sicky and have napped for 2 hours this afternoon, I have no motivation!

Serafinaaa Thu 12-Jun-14 17:19:40

Hello! Can I join? I'm supposedly 5 weeks with #1 but I actually think it's more like 4 by looking at my chart. I don't have any real symptoms other than sore boobs and occasional mild cramping. I've phoned the doctor and the receptionist has put me into the system so the midwife should phone soon. Very exciting!

GeekyHybrid Thu 12-Jun-14 18:48:32

Evening all, I told the boss. Very scary moment but it went OK, he shared more about their attempts to ttc than ever before, turns out she had a suspected early mc just last week when they were on hols :-( so I still feel really bad for them. However, it is one less thing to be anxious about, I now don't have to do anything involving chemicals / pesticides and I've got out of any heavy lifting :-) Now I just get to concentrate on getting through the day - the nausea is constant though luckily I'm not actually vomiting. I've also seen the GP who simply fills in a referral to ante-natal and says I'll hear from them in due course. Lots of waiting to this pregnancy malarkey isn't there!

GeekyHybrid Thu 12-Jun-14 18:51:18

PS - Jack stats always sound like a good idea ;-) Thank you

MrsCK Thu 12-Jun-14 19:03:12

Hey all! I had my first appointment last Friday and I've been given an earlier edd based on the fact I came off the implant and then fell straight away. However I know when I ovulated so I think they are wrong. anyway. I'm HUGE. like literally I'm either growing twins or I am further gone than I thought. or it could be bloat. First maternity clothes bought....They are so so comfy!!

Memphisbelly Thu 12-Jun-14 19:27:15

Mrsck what date did they give you? I was massive with my first and in maternity clothes by 10 weeks.....embrace the elastic waistband grin

MrsCK Thu 12-Jun-14 20:07:39

12th January now which would make me ten weeks!

Memphisbelly Thu 12-Jun-14 21:00:20

wow you will have your scan soon! how exciting

LittleMissSunshine33 Thu 12-Jun-14 21:33:42

MrsC when did you think you were due?
Geeky glad all went well with your boss!

Ladies I am 4 +5 and today I stopped feeling pregnant the last week I've had bloating pulling sensations sharp pains reminding me I was pregnant then today nothing I can even breathe I without it hurting? blush

jdr1234 Thu 12-Jun-14 22:21:51

Evening all- I went for scan today, I thought I was 7 +1 but when they did the us the fetal pole is only measuring 6+1. Everything looked fine though didn't hear the heart beat but doc said without doing an internal you wouldn't but I came away feeling nervous and disappointed, has anyone else had a scan at 6 weeks and if so what did they see?

Memphisbelly Thu 12-Jun-14 22:26:45

I had one at 6 weeks last time and just saw what looked like a kidney bean, no heartbeat then either are they rescanning next week?

jdr1234 Thu 12-Jun-14 22:36:17

They scheduled me in for 2 weeks time as they said would see a lot more...I sound ungrateful cos I know what I saw is all a good sign but so frustrating to of moved back a week!

Memphisbelly Thu 12-Jun-14 22:47:17

I totally see your frustration. The mw today asked what date of last period was and I got my disry out to get exact date and she said oh it doesn't matter because we go by size when scanning and not date, really annoyed me as why ask how long cycle is and when last period was if you won't go by it anyway.
I understand the not wanting to sound ungrateful as I have ttc for 2 years and now feel rotten, I said to dh tonight how can I cope letting house go to pot if I carry on feeling rough..... Felt like I was moaning eventhough I wanted this so badly!

jdr1234 Thu 12-Jun-14 22:53:52

How far along are you Memphis?

Memphisbelly Thu 12-Jun-14 23:02:23

7 weeks. Now I can't wait for my Monday scan to get them to tell me the date they think. We are rn telling inlaws.

SpandexBallet Fri 13-Jun-14 06:42:43

Eek I've got another scan today to see if they can answer some questions. All I'm hoping to see is everything in the right place and hopefully some progress.
I'm really nervous though.
Half expecting them to say it's twins for some reason

JacktheLab Fri 13-Jun-14 07:00:47

Morning all,

Hope everyone is well, my stupid body is waking me very early at the moment so been up since five, although my record is 3.30 am this week!

Spandex I've been having the oh my god what will we do if it's twins thoughts too, but I did the same thing last time too, so I guess it's normal smile

Good luck to everyone having scans in the next couple of days!

donkir Fri 13-Jun-14 07:24:33

Good morning everyone. Well what a rubbish nights sleep (I even had fresh sheets to relax me)I think I was awake every few hours for no reason. Today will be a long day. Thank goodness it's my day off. Enjoy your day ladies.

VegasCupcpake6 Fri 13-Jun-14 07:50:08

Hi everyone, would you mind if I joined?!
We got our bfp on Monday after 2.5 years of ttc! So excited and anxious all at once!
I'm worried as I haven't felt sick at all. Had a few other hits and bobs like extreme hunger ALL day! And a funny taste in my mouth. Oh and lots of farting! But worried that I haven't felt sick or any more tired than usual.
Think I'm around 6 weeks, a little bit harder to tell as I was quite irregular but we're thinking the EDD will be 3rd Feb.
Nice to meet you all!

donkir Fri 13-Jun-14 08:29:30

Welcome Vegascupacake6 and congrats. I also have no sickness and this is normal for some people in trying to count my lucky stars I don't feel rough other than the bloating. I'm nearly 6 weeks and don't feel tired either.

Memphisbelly Fri 13-Jun-14 09:17:58

I had no sickness at all last time but this time I am constanty gagging.
tomorrows wedding is a bbq as meal I am dreading it as smell of food sets me off

lawyeredout82 Fri 13-Jun-14 09:54:03

I'm not feeling great either - especially with the train/tube commute.

It's really hot and the crowded tube makes me feel really nauseous. I guess it's too early to be wearing a baby on board badge?! Is anyone else thinking of getting one? I would be really nervous about bumping into someone I know whilst wearing one before the 12 week scan...

SpandexBallet Fri 13-Jun-14 10:01:23

Well scan went all well. I'm slightly earlier then we first thought and only around 5.5 weeks. But I saw a heartbeat and it's definitely all in the right place so not ectopic. Still no coil so it's either gone wondering through my abdomen or fallen out hmm
And definitely only one baby so a little relief there I guess

jdr1234 Fri 13-Jun-14 10:34:12

spandex did you have an internal scan?

SpandexBallet Fri 13-Jun-14 11:28:59

jdr yeah an internal one.
Had one last Friday due to coil panic and all they could see was fluid. And then today they saw the yolk sac and teeny weeny foetus and heartbeat.

It was really strange to imagine cos it's only a few multimeters in size

Memphisbelly Fri 13-Jun-14 12:17:49

spandex thats great news that all is ok. what a relief!

SpandexBallet Fri 13-Jun-14 12:40:22

Yeah I'm really happy it's all confirmed.

Now jut shitting myself that I'm actually having an unplanned baby.
Should be interesting shock

MsFrazzles Fri 13-Jun-14 13:19:44

Hi lawyeredout82, I'm a London commuter too (train from Herts + tube across London) and finding it quite hard going in the heat at the moment! I actually got a Baby on Board badge the other day (just asked at the ticket office) but am too scared to wear it in case anyone from work sees me! It's ironic that these early days are when we'll probably need it most (apart from when we're huge later on!)

lawyeredout82 Fri 13-Jun-14 13:53:27

I am also Herts then tube...my DH saw me looking queasy this morning and has just ordered me one, think he feels it is one of the small things he can actually do to help. Though once it arrives, cue at least a week of me having it in my handbag, staring at it and then deciding not to wear it as I feel like I am a fraud!

hanflan Fri 13-Jun-14 14:25:29

I feel very wary of using a baby on board badge before I have an obvious bump! I would be so scared that people (those who have no idea what it's like) would think I was milking it just to get a seat sad
Really, I am so shattered I could do with one now and there is not even the tiniest bump yet!

sarah9999 Fri 13-Jun-14 17:36:59

Hi ladies, can I join?

My baby's due on 31st January. It's my second, my daughter is 2. Had a scan as my first pregnancy was ectopic - I saw a heartbeat and I think I'm about to vomit / fall asleep all the time, so that has to be a good sign, right?!

Hope you're all doing well!

Memphisbelly Fri 13-Jun-14 18:55:08

Welcome Sarah.
I don't use the tube as I am in the midlands but as someone who doesn't I would thing the badge is for use before you have a bump because surely once you have a bump you wouldn't need a badge as the bump would be a telltale sign, I would wear the badge and cough while pointing to it to get the attention of someone to move grin

Today my nausea only lasted until 1pm, I am finding marmite sandwiches are helping me, just had my first cuppa in 3 days! I got stomach pains from wearing jeans again as bloating is coming back so need to put those away for a bit.
I have been worrying about needing a good coat that will fit over bump come winter, I work outdoors and have to wear ski wear to keep remotely warm, never seen maternity ski wear though grin

GeekyHybrid Fri 13-Jun-14 19:05:00

Great news on the scan spandex. Is anyone else really really glad it's the weekend?! Just feeling nauseas all day is tiring, I hate to think about you poor guys who are actually being sick. And as for hanflan, frazzles and lawyeredout you really have my sympathy. I'm so looking forward to not having grin and bear the heat out there (normally work outdoors), I can hide in the house with a cool drink whenever I like instead :-D

ProudlymadeinSA Fri 13-Jun-14 19:31:28

Jdr - I had internal scan at 6 weeks and only saw yolk sac. Gynae thought foetus was hiding behind sac, so I'm going back next week at 8 weeks for another. Sounds like you have nothing to worry about, though obviously that's easier said than done! I understand a lot of doctors won't even entertain the thought of doing a scan before 8 weeks because it can be so hard to see anything.

Went to gp today about relentless morning sickness and have been prescribed some drugs. Really hope they kick In soon. Current situation is unbearable. Had a huge cry last night with DH!

Mrsm14 Fri 13-Jun-14 19:43:20

SO flippin glad it the weekend and I get a lie in tomorrow. Hope you all get some respite from the morning sickness. I'm watching husband and parents get stuck into celebratory sparkly while I try and drink a pre mixed zero alcohol bellini (don't bother, they're rubbish!)

Memphisbelly Fri 13-Jun-14 20:35:04

I am at a wedding tomorrow, how do you get out of the not drinking? The beers will be flowing all day and I am dreading someone noticing, I set the seed of illness on fb saying oh I hope I am not still feeling ill on the weekend or it will be a tame one for me....hoping that covers it

JacktheLab Fri 13-Jun-14 21:14:36

Designated driver?

Accept a drink and then leave it somewhere without drinking it?

JacktheLab Fri 13-Jun-14 21:33:41

I want to go to bed sad

I'm waiting for my ginger bread to finish cooking and then that's where I'm headed - hurrah!

Any second timers around? I'm so bloated I'm in maternity clothes already! Please tell me it's not just me?!?!

Oh and I almost fell asleep at work today, I closed my eyes for a minute and had to make myself wake up or there was a very great chance that I was going to end up snoring!!!

donkir Fri 13-Jun-14 21:55:16

Jackthelab I'm a 2nd timer ds is 12. What's with the bloatedness I definitely don't remember that 1st time round. I'm so uncomfortable in my jeans I'm having to wear dresses which are so not me.

Memphisbelly Fri 13-Jun-14 22:02:07

Also a 2nd timer with a huge bloated belly, my neighbour knows I am pg and she was tiny through hers and commented that I a, going to be massive hmm

We are all travelling together so no driving excuse, think dh withh pass me a few drinks and make out it has booze in and then say I am not getting drunk as being fathers days I wantvto be on the ball to cook a nice dinner etc.

mrshjb Sat 14-Jun-14 07:07:03

I'm a first timer and I'm so bloated nothing fits me. Can't wait for my scan so I can tell work and don't have to worry about trying to hide it all the time!

donkir Sat 14-Jun-14 07:14:02

Anyone else got rages yet? Other half was snoring so much last night it was either sleep in sons room (he's with his dad for weekend) or stick a pillow over his head. I was seriously considering the pillow wink

tonightsthekindofnight Sat 14-Jun-14 08:12:27

ARGH just been sick in the bin under my desk at work. Feeling so rotten, no idea how I can keep hiding it!

I have a scan a week on wed as I am unsure of dates. All being well with that I think I might tell my boss.

GeekyHybrid Sat 14-Jun-14 10:12:30

Don't worry Donkir, I think the combination of hormones, nausea, general tiredness and a bit of stress thrown in for good measure means I almost killed around 7 people the other day! Felt like I had steam coming out my ears like in the cartoons O:-) Hopefully it will calm down before too long, and before someone HAS to die!!;-)

Mrsm14 Sat 14-Jun-14 10:17:05

For everyone feeling bloated - I found a brilliant stripey dress in gap that sort of wraps over loosely. Mega comfy and totally hides any bloat. It's quite casual but I can just about get away with it for work. Think it also comes in black and grey x

LittleMissSunshine33 Sat 14-Jun-14 10:41:40

I have ordered some tops and trousers from next I'm living in maxi dresses at the moment only thing that hides the bloat! I used to love my sucking in knickers can't wait to have a big belly which I'm 'meant' to have!

Supposed to be going to the pub to watch the football tonight ... Don't know how long I will last! Zzzz

Memphisbelly Sat 14-Jun-14 12:51:25

Weirdly saying about hormones, before I could even test dh said I was highly strung and told me to take a pregnancy test as it was like living with a different person! He has now changed his tune and is looking after me!
Felt less sick today which is good as we are about to leave for a wedding, house is a complete tip as I haven't been up to doing anything so hoping I feel like I do today in the morning so I can clean.

Mrsm14 Sat 14-Jun-14 13:45:42

Good luck with your nights out.I went to a day festival last weekend - arrivesd at 2pm and only made it through till 9!

JacktheLab Sat 14-Jun-14 20:19:17

I've done my homework! I've made a new thread for the stats, added everyone new on and sadly taken off our first loss sad

GeekyHybrid Sat 14-Jun-14 21:16:54

Thanks Jack, can't beat a good bunch of stats! There's quite a few of us now isn't there?!

SpandexBallet Sat 14-Jun-14 21:29:21

I love the stats list!! Very pleasing indeed grin

Rowanhart Sat 14-Jun-14 22:21:28

Hello all. Pregnant with my second here. Feb 9th. I've an 19month old who is very independent and bossy. Already have some sympathy for her younger sibling. Ha.

So excited by it all. Just worried about amount I drank on holiday last week!

JacktheLab Sun 15-Jun-14 06:43:28

Morning all,

sad indidement of my saturday night that I spent a fair amount of it doing that list!

I also watched Atonement and cried my eyes out, the ending of that film is not good for pregnant women!!!

Welcome Rowan

Memphisbelly Sun 15-Jun-14 09:11:46

Jack I nearly watched The Notebook in the week, glad I didn't I would probably still be crying now!

Well dh's best friend asked when I was due as he had noticed I wasn't drinking luckily at the time someone had bought me a malibu and coke that I was holding and made him take a sip, I usually drimk bottles when out in town and he knows I am usually a bit of a party animal, luckily He bought it, I managed until 11, I was so bloated I felt like if you popped me it would have been like a baloon going off!

ProudlymadeinSA Sun 15-Jun-14 09:26:59

Jack - I was already in bed by the time you did the list!

Anyone considering medication for morning sickness - mine is working so far. At least until 6pm when it seems to wear off. Still feel weird and don't have much of an appetite, but nausea is nearly all gone. Amazing. Trying not worry too much about baby coming out with 3 legs or 2 heads!

freneticfox Sun 15-Jun-14 09:41:29

Proudly what meds are you taking for MS? Mine is awful in the evenings, it's disrupting my sleep quite a lot :/

Mrsm14 Sun 15-Jun-14 10:04:15

Thanks for the stats!

Mimosa1 Sun 15-Jun-14 11:23:54

Hi ladies,
Sorry I've been MIA for a few days. I was feeling so lousy, I was basically either sleeping, being sick, or thinking about one of the 2. The nausea has been relentless so I finally went to the doc and got some tablets.
proudly I know what you mean about trying not to worry about it affecting the baby as the doc says it won't!
frenetic the medication I'm taking starts with a M-something hydrochloride. I'll have a look when I'm home and post the name as I don't recall off the top of my head. You take them when you're feeling ill and it's a relief knowing they're there, even if I'm trying to take as few as possible.
Had an internal scan yesterday and heard the heartbeat - exactly 7 weeks. It was lovely.
Wishing you all a lovely weekend,
Xxx Mim

Memphisbelly Sun 15-Jun-14 15:11:34

Ah mimosa hope you are feeling better ASAP, lovely about the scan, I have mine tomorrow and I am increasing worried they won't find anything eventhough I have been sick as a dog, bloated and over past couple of days my boobs are pouring out of my bras.

JacktheLab Sun 15-Jun-14 16:21:30

I just had to take a nap!!!

LittleMissSunshine33 Sun 15-Jun-14 17:25:48

Thanks for the stats! This will (touchwood) be DC #1!

I think I'm a couple of weeks behind some of you so reading your symptoms makes me nervous wink
I have though had really bad hay fever this weekend and read I can't take tablets for it! I wonder if there is something organic?!

SpandexBallet Sun 15-Jun-14 17:35:52

littlemiss I get terrible allergies and take antihistamines all year round.
I've been told that I can carry on taking chlorphenamine (sp?) but not ceririzine or loratadine.

In terms of natural ways to combat it, you can try eating natural honey or drinking it with got water. If you use local made honey it's more likely to incorporate pollen from your local area and should help build up a tolerance but it may take a while.
This maybe a total myth but it always works for my DP who hates taking tablets or anything.

Memphisbelly Sun 15-Jun-14 18:31:47

Jackthelab 2 hour nap here too! I cooked a chicken dinner and just felt too tired to eat!

LittleMissSunshine33 Sun 15-Jun-14 19:48:26

Thanks Spandex I will look into it!!

From when have people started feeling sick?

thingsarelookingup Sun 15-Jun-14 19:52:37

Hi all can I join? I've been lurking since before I got my BFP (sad I know) but I am now 4+3 I think so I actually belong here! Woohoo! I will also add myself to the stats list shortly. Thanks for starting jack.

I'm really hoping I'll get an early scan again because my cycles are 2 months long so based on my lmp I'm much further along than I really am. Long cycles are rubbish when ttc so there at least has to be a benefit now I'm finally upduffed!

SpandexBallet Sun 15-Jun-14 20:00:16

I was feeling sick from about 4.5 weeks.
At the moment I'm really struggling with stomach cramps. Before I got pg I've suffered with endometriosis pretty badly and the cramps feel like that. Is anyone else getting cramping?

Mrsm14 Sun 15-Jun-14 20:13:07

I had cramps from 4-6 weeks roughly that felt like period pains. Now 7-8 weeks and they're all gone.

Surf25 Sun 15-Jun-14 20:37:15

Hello, can I join in? Bfp yesterday and surprised my dh for Father's Day with the result this morning, this will be dc#3. Early days for us, seems quite a few on here are further on, but would like to join in for the journey if I can? I have a longish cycle so think might be due around mid February. Excited! Not much in the way of symptoms yet..

SpandexBallet Sun 15-Jun-14 20:46:13

Welcome thingsarelookingup and surf25

PeppermintInfusion Sun 15-Jun-14 21:11:52

Got my bfp today shock still in shock as first month ttc... By the mn calculator I'll be due end of feb!

GeekyHybrid Sun 15-Jun-14 21:31:34

Hi newbies, congrats and welcome. For me the morning sickness started at week 5, I'm only 6 weeks now and boy has it been a long week! I was thinking that a few of us (especially me) seem to be doing quite a bit of moaning about symptoms but as my OH just reminded me - it will all be worth it in the end. He did also receive an elbow in the ribs, just because ;-D

GeekyHybrid Sun 15-Jun-14 21:33:56

PS - morning sickness is not an accurate description. Every waking hour sickness is more like it. Sorry for moaning, again.

blankfornames Sun 15-Jun-14 22:36:48

Hi congrats to all! What a lovely bus this finally is! Just found out on Friday so feeling nervous but quietly excited! Had a mc in April so hope this bean stays sticky for 8 more months!

blankfornames Sun 15-Jun-14 22:42:10

Sorry, forgot to add..am 35, pregnant with #1 on 19th Feb. Reading through some scary symptoms! Been ok so far..here's hoping it lasts!

MrsCK Mon 16-Jun-14 07:36:36

Hi all. Sorry haven't been around much of late. have my scan booked for 2nd July which I'm very excited and nervous about! I've put on so much weight...7 lbs so far. so I'm going to get back exercising and now my nausea is better hopefully I can eat some proper foods rather than just the quick carby fatty foods I've been wanting!

donkir Mon 16-Jun-14 09:50:27

Is anyone currently pregnant or has had a child following treatment for pre cancer cells? I read at the weekend it can cause a shorter cervix and can cause complications. I'm now really worried as I had 2 lots of treatment 7 yrs ago. Advice welcome.

JacktheLab Mon 16-Jun-14 10:16:00

Donkir, I know nothing about this, bit didn't want to leave you unanswered. Have you had your booking in appointment yet? I would call your midwife or maybe your oncologist (right specialism?) for advice. Please don't worry!

donkir Mon 16-Jun-14 10:38:45

Jackthelab l have my first midwife appointment on Friday so hopefully she'll be able to answer my worries.

MrsMogginsMinge Mon 16-Jun-14 10:42:34

<pokes head around door> Can I join in? Then I'll go back and read the PPs to see what's in store for me...

I'm 33yo (34 next week - erk) and this will <everything crossed> be DC#1. Got a definite faint line on FRER at 10dpo but have confirmed today with a digital doodah so DH is finally convinced and I feel ready to hop on a bus. EDD 24/2 based on LMP but that will probably get pushed back as I lay my eggs late. No real symptoms yet, unsurpringly. Feel a bit like I'm coming down with a cold. Might just be coming down with a cold.

Memphisbelly Mon 16-Jun-14 10:44:51

donkir hopefully mw will put your mind at ease. my ex sil had pre cancer cell treatment and had 2 chidren with no problems.

Mimosa1 Mon 16-Jun-14 14:50:24

memphis belly good luck with the scan today! And thanks for the kind words - am feeling much better since getting medication.

littlemiss I started feeling sick around week 5 but some people on here (*geeky*, made and I for starters) seem to having it a bit worse. I think everyone is different.

Welcome, surf, things, peppermint, blank and mrsmoggins!

CK how lovely that you've got the scan coming up.

Have a great week ladies xx

mrshjb Mon 16-Jun-14 15:36:43

Hey everyone. Had my first midwife appointment today, they did half in the children's centre and the other half will be at a home visit on Thursday. Thinking they're just coming for a nosey really! Exciting bit is that she booked my scan whilst I was there and it'll be when I think I am 11 weeks! Told her I have longer cycles but they just go off lmp. Nice bonus to have my scan sooner. Only three weeks to go smile

donkir my sister had some potentially pre cancerous cells removed and then she went on to deliver at 27 weeks. After the birth of the baby she did a lot of research in to what might have caused it and that seems to be the only possible explanation for her- she's otherwise a very healthy person. She had an infection and that caused the early labour. Apparently the treatment can weaken your cervix. It's definitely worth discussing with the midwife because she felt a bit let down by it not having been picked up at any point. On the plus side the baby was absolutely fine, albeit after a few month stint in a neonatal unit. Obviously I'm sure there are plenty of people that have absolutely no problems whatsoever but I'd definitely mention it.

Welcome to the newbies and exciting that scans are starting to happen!!!

lawyeredout82 Mon 16-Jun-14 16:15:04

Hi ladies - I am sadly potentially going to have to drop off the thread. I had some severe cramping on Saturday night (no bleeding) and, to cut a long story short, had a scan this morning at the EPU. The scan showed a gestational sac of 6w5d (15mm) but no yolk sac or embryo. So the advice was that I will more than likely miscarry this week but need to go back for a second scan next week anyway. Will keep everyone posted.

Memphisbelly Mon 16-Jun-14 17:02:29

Oh lawyer, I have my fingers crossed for you sad

Had my scan today as I have a tilted womb it was internal, saw a heartbeat, they also detected a small bleed which may appear or disperse, not attatched to sac or anything and also detected fluid in my pelvis which must be a reason I feel so bloated. She said nothing to worry about and very pleasing results

MsFrazzles Mon 16-Jun-14 18:00:18

Fingers crossed for you lawyer. Will be thinking about you this week. Keep us posted.

How is it only Monday? I feel like I've done a week's work already! Was in a meeting about things coming up next year and all I could think was 'Hopefully this won't be my problem!'

Had a scan on Sat - it was actually to look at my ovaries and had been booked for ages before I found out I was pregnant, but they said to go along anyway. I got a little peek at our blob! It had a heartbeat and even though they couldn't measure it properly the lady said it looked healthy for 7 weeks. Exciting!

Trying to decide whether to risk getting my hair highlighted in a few weeks (it needs it!). All the sources (nhs etc) say it's fine but I don't want to risk more anxiety ... What do you reckon?

Memphisbelly Mon 16-Jun-14 18:23:20

Msfrazzles it is totally fine, the risks are only from full head where the peroxide or smothered on scalp but foils or cap are totally fine.

GeekyHybrid Mon 16-Jun-14 18:31:25

Thinking of you lawyer, I hope you're getting lots of support in RL as well as MN. thanks

donkir Mon 16-Jun-14 18:51:52

Thanks Mrshjb this is shying asking as from other blogs I've read people have had similar experiences. They can put a stitch in to prevent early labour but not sure what else.

LittleMissSunshine33 Mon 16-Jun-14 19:34:52

Welcome newbies!

Sorry Lawyer fingers well and truly crossed for you!

Thanks for the sickness info wink I am 5 +2 and have had mini waves mainly when I'm in the car, fingers crossed if I do it will be short! Had sickness I read 80% of women will get it! All for the good of our little beans! smile

VegasCupcpake6 Mon 16-Jun-14 19:35:08

Hi everyone

Has anyone had their first midwifes appt yet? Is the first one what's known as the "booking" appointment? Or will I need to book that one at this first appointment?!
Our first appointment is 1st July. Will she then book us in for our scan? I don't know how I'm going to wait until 12 weeks!!! I can hardly sleep with excitement/nervousness!

VegasCupcpake6 Mon 16-Jun-14 19:36:43

Oh and lawyer sending hugs and fingers tightly crossed for you thanks

MrsCK Mon 16-Jun-14 19:51:57

mimosa I couldn't find your post...have you been given medicine for nausea? I've had really bad nausea and vomiting and been put on some tablets...fx they seem to be working!

mrshjb Mon 16-Jun-14 19:53:46

Lawyer fingers crossed everything is ok for you.

donkir yeah from her research you can have a stitch when you're pregnant! but it does come with a risk of miscarriage or you can have a stitch before you conceive, but that means you will definitely have to have a caesarean. I'm not sure how you become eligible for either. I think if you've had one premature baby maybe you would be, but possibly not if they didn't know that would definitely happen? Definitely best to speak to the midwife.

Vegas I had mine today, well the first half of it! It's the booking in appointment and basically you get your maternity book and fill out some forms. They take some blood and some wee and mine booked the scan the and then, but it also seems to be very common to have to wait for a letter for the scan as well!

thingsarelookingup Mon 16-Jun-14 20:24:20

Thanks for the welcome. This thread is starting to get busier now which is lovely. Most people who will be joining us probably know they're pregnant now. A March thread will be popping up soon!

I'm only 4+4 but I'm ridiculously proud of myself for every day that I don't tell anyone. Especially when I called my parents at the weekend (they live in Oz so at least I don't have to see them and not tell them). I don't really have a thing about keeping it to myself and I'm totally rubbish with secrets but DH would prefer no one knew until 12 weeks. I'm just taking things one day at a time though.

Really sorry for all the people feeling rubbish. It must be so hard trying to work and get on with things like normal when you feel like that.

JennyBlueWren Mon 16-Jun-14 21:12:23

I tested +ve on Saturday and think I'm due mid Feb although my dates are a bit confused due to irregular cycles.

Memphisbelly Mon 16-Jun-14 21:36:13

vegas your first app is the booking in. mine was 45 mins long.

JacktheLab Mon 16-Jun-14 22:21:04

lawyer fingers crossed thanks

I've had a no symptom day, but yesterday two people asked me how far gone I was, I'm rather overweight anyway from my last pregnancy which I never shifted and I just look like I'm in my second trimester alreadyconfused

jenmcspen Tue 17-Jun-14 08:23:33

I have already had 3 scans as they were worried baby was ectopic. All seems to be ok, but can't wait for the next scan now I am less stressed! We think EDD is 3rd Feb, and I am 6+5, but my maths skills are horrendous so I'm sure the midwife will correct us! hehe!
Still feeling terribly sick, has anyone tried anti sickness travel bands?
Hope all ur scans and appointments go okay, and that we all start to feel less nauseous soon! smile

blankfornames Tue 17-Jun-14 08:32:59

Lawyer, I hope everything is ok.

Can I ask, when do I go for the booking appointment? I'm 4.5 days today but haven't been to a doctor yet to conform it. Also, when is the earliest that I can go for a scan. I mc at 6 weeks last time and I just want to be reassured that everything is going to plan this time.
Congrats to the newly bfps! grin

jdr1234 Tue 17-Jun-14 10:39:53

Blankfornames- I had a scan at 6+1 but only as I thought I was 7+1. We saw the sac and the fetal pole but was too early to detect a heartbeat unless they did an internal so would recommend waiting till you are 8 weeks as even if your dates are out you should see heartbeat and a good size bean.

blankfornames Tue 17-Jun-14 10:49:14

jdr1234 thanks for that. I'll hold off for another little while.. such a wait!!

jdr1234 Tue 17-Jun-14 12:26:06

I know seems like time is going so slowly but I think if you have a scan too early it can just cause more anxiety..

LuckyAugust Tue 17-Jun-14 15:14:45

Hi everyone, can I join please? Currently 5+1 with dc3. I have 2 ds's and sadly lost our dd earlier this year when I was 15 weeks. I am SO happy to be pregnant again but bloody terrified!!! Hoping this works out differently. Anyway, I'm 35 and by my dates due 17th February. Having chromosome testing at 10 weeks so dh and I not telling anyone until we hopefully get the ok (well I've secretly told my mam and best friend blush).

Memphisbelly Tue 17-Jun-14 16:39:26

Blankfornames I had my booking in appointment last week, I went docs at 6 weeks, mw wiik after and as I had health problems a scan yesterday, just waiting for date for 12 week scan to come through now.

I have been so sick feeling today, do you think the docs can give mecsomething eventhough I am not actually being sick? I bought trsvel sickness bands and they really have eased it, until I bought them at lunch I was wretching at everything, not wretched since but think feeling so rough all morning has drained me.

i am now in bed, dh is being pretty amazing, he left for work at 4.30am just got home, put shopping away, prepped tea and has taken dog out, thrn is fetch ds from nursery. I just feel guilty.

ProudlymadeinSA Tue 17-Jun-14 17:19:49

Memphis - it's definitely worth asking. I am overseas, so it may be different in UK, but I've have been prescribed some drugs for constant nausea. Been sick a few times only. Glad scan went well.

ProudlymadeinSA Tue 17-Jun-14 17:21:04

PS someone asked about sea bands. I tried them and they did bugger all for me. Sorry.

Memphisbelly Tue 17-Jun-14 18:05:45

thank you proudly I will go walk in center tomorrow and ask for something.

Mimosa1 Tue 17-Jun-14 18:17:40

Oh lawyer, I'm so sorry to hear it. I hope you are being very kind to yourself...

'MrsCK, I've been put on metachlopromide (sp?) hydrochloride. It's helping a bit but still managed to be sick at work today shortly after having taken a tablet. Am desperate for some time off to rest as being sick several times a night, but don't want to tell work yet.

Hugs all and welcome to the newbies,
Xxx Mimosa

GeekyHybrid Tue 17-Jun-14 18:37:14

Memphis - the locum said he wouldn't give me anything unless I was actually being sick, however, just feeling sick every waking hour is fairly exhausting so maybe yours will be more generous, I may go back and see another doc if it goes on much longer.
jen - I've been wearing the sickness bands, I think they help a bit as does eating small amounts often and staying hydrated. Combination of these has kept me at work (just) though I still feel like I wanna curl up on the sofa and hide all day!
Loads of you lucky people having scans, I've been told "they'll be in touch" and then a non-committal grunt about when that would be other than confirming that the first scan would be at 12 weeks. Even though I've got symptoms enough it would be reassuring to know what's happening in there!

ProudlymadeinSA Tue 17-Jun-14 19:08:03

Hey mimosa, so sorry to hear you are still have a tough time of it. :-( mine is less constant now, but evenings and mornings still a bit of a struggle. Tried 'eating through it' yesterday. Had 4 x peanut butter sandwiches, 8 x crackers, 1 x bowl of cereal, 1 x apple, 1 x banana, 1 x bunch of grapes, 2 x garlic bread half baguettes 1 x packet dried fruit, 1 x packet raisins, 1 x packet almonds, 1 x packet crisps, 1 x appletiser, 1 x coke, 2 x orange juice, 2 x biscuits. Felt like I was going to explode! But, oddly, I did feel a bit better. Just not sure what my colleagues think of my eating non stop all day! And not sure I can keep it up every day!

Lawyer - thinking of you. X

mrshjb Tue 17-Jun-14 21:41:16

Proudly that's a hell of a feast!! I've had days where I've felt so sick I've had to eat loads to get through it. Like you say it does kind of work but you feel a different kind of rubbish afterwards!

Has anyone else found days when their symptoms have been different?! I've been the usual bloated and tired today but less sick and boobs haven't hurt as much. Obviously I should be happy about this, but I just find myself worrying!!

donkir Tue 17-Jun-14 22:16:36

My only symptom that comes and goes is the cramps. I worry when I have them and worry when I don't. I can't win.
I had my first major pregnancy melt down tonight. Shouting, crying and just angry in general. All because the OH didn't fold the clothes properly (the way I do it) when he was so kindly doing ironing. Feel guilty now as he's sleeping on sofa tonight as his hay fever has kept me awake for a week. Hopefully I'll wake bright eyed and bushy tailed!

Mrsm14 Tue 17-Jun-14 23:12:45

Mine change all the time. Today had a pain that was a bit like stitch. And yep, worry every time I feel something new, then worry when it goes again!

blankfornames Wed 18-Jun-14 06:36:18

Mrshjb, mine definitely change. My sore boobs are back with a bang this morning whereas last night I was incredibly bloated. Not feeling sick but get very dizzy still! I'm hoping to put off the sickness for as long as I can...hard to disguise being pregnant when you're very nauseous!

JacktheLab Wed 18-Jun-14 07:00:18

Me too, bloating has gone, my boobs are still big but not much morning sickness.

I can't wait until we have our first scan and especially when I can feel the baby moving around, so at least it feels like there is something actually going on!

Melting in this heat though and I'm in Perthshire so nothing like anyone in the south east is getting!

bellaboo88 Wed 18-Jun-14 08:08:24

Ladies, has anyone lost any weight?

I'm around 5w4/6w3(LMP) & I'm normally a steady 9s/9st2... I never see below nine stone ever.

No ms, just on/off boulder boobs! Xx

mrshjb Wed 18-Jun-14 08:13:30

Nope. I'm piling it on! But I have read other women who do, largely down to food aversions and nausea! Have you been eating less?

Memphisbelly Wed 18-Jun-14 08:19:46

I have lost a couple of pounds, I did first time round too. My friend is 15 weeks and has put on 1.5 stone due to eating through her nausea, I can barely eat at all.
My symptoms change, felt no sickness over weekend then yesterday and today it is back, I had a total meltdown last night over feeling so rotten saying I can't cope. It is ok people saying it is 'only' likely to last another 4 weeks but another 4 days is enough to tip me over the edge. Already told mum I won't be able to work tomorrow if I feel like this. Losing pay is all I need.

donkir Wed 18-Jun-14 09:24:55

Bellaboo88 I have also lost a few pounds even though I'm so bloated that someone guessed I was pregnant yesterday. She was shocked to find out I was only 6 weeks. My boobs go through stages of being massive. Today's a good day I can fit in my bra. Although as soon as I get in from work the first thing I do is put my jimmys on. Bliss I can then let it all go.

Mrsm14 Wed 18-Jun-14 13:29:24

I've lost 2 pounds as well. I have a question - bit Tmi - but has anyone else had dark brown discharge? I only had a tiny bit today but it has freaked me out a bit. Roughly 8 weeks today and fly off for a holiday on an island with no proper medical facilities tomorrow, so now feeling all anxious in case something is wrong sad

JacktheLab Wed 18-Jun-14 15:23:37

Mrsm I had that twice in my first pregnancy, nothing to worry about it's probably old blood. You mostly need to worry if you have fresh red blood and/or pain.

Mrsm14 Wed 18-Jun-14 16:04:58

Thanks jack - I'm a worrier by nature so all this is really testing me! x

FinickityCoder Wed 18-Jun-14 17:38:57

Hello and welcome newbies smile

Thinking of you Lawyer

I've been absent for the last few days because I'm struggling quite a bit with anxiety about this pregnancy atm. I swing between being sure things will be fine, after all I have no reason to think otherwise, and utterly convinced I'm going to have another mmc. Lack of symptoms isn't really helping. That said, I've given myself a good talking to today. What will be, will be and tying myself up in knots about something that I have no control over won't stop it happening if it's going to. I'm going to make a real effort to relax (that includes no more POAS, I counted up earlier and I've done 35 tests blush blush blush ) and just enjoy the fact that, for today at least, I am pregnant.

Hope the sickness eases up soon for those who are suffering smile

Memphisbelly Wed 18-Jun-14 19:18:03

Finickitycoder please be reassured I had no real symptoms with ds, and our cousin didn't even know she was pg until 6 months, your symptoms will come soon enough, hopefully that symptom will be blooming and having great hair and skin and a lovely neat bump smile.

LittleMissSunshine33 Wed 18-Jun-14 19:58:49

Finikity 35 tests! I think you might be pregnant wink

I had more symptoms in week 4 than I do now, now I only know at the end of the day my stomach feels tight, I think that's because of my job it makes me stressed and tired! Oh and I am hungry and peeing all the time and it hurts to breathe in...but otherwise all good! smile

I unfortunately have put on 3 pounds in two weeks but I look like Ive put on loads because of bloating, am having to undo my trousers for work!

scummy2b Wed 18-Jun-14 22:11:00

I'm somewhat late to the party but I'd love to join. We had started taking a more relaxed approach to contraception in the past few months but as I have huge issues with my periods and we weren't ttc until next January, the bfp yesterday was more than a bit of a shock! (in a good way) In hindsight there were some symptoms such as being so so tired the whole time, but my boobs get sore before every period so I didn't think anything of it until I was 16 days late blush Not being able to stomach a glass of wine was definitely my body finally telling me something was up!

I'm in the US so the system is very different and also quite confusing so far. I'm moving to a new Ob Gyn and have been booked in for an ultrasound and 1st check up with the Dr next Monday. It all seems to move very quickly but I'm pleased as one thing in particular that bothers me is that I hadn't been taking any pre natal vitamins and hopefully she'll be able to put my mind at rest.

I hope those of you not feeling so well have a better evening/night. Are we allowed to just sleep for the next few weeks?

Ooh my details:

Scummy2b, aged 31, Due date: around the 8th Feb although my periods are pretty irregular so hopefully we'll have more of an idea on Monday, 1st baby.

bellaboo88 Wed 18-Jun-14 22:41:14

Mrsm I started with brown spotting today with a dot of red, went to docs n referred to epu for a scan tomorrow. Tbh I lost my head, thought it was all over but it seems its very commmon,. Just look out for pain/shoulder pain & red blood. I'll let u know how I get on.

A lot of ladies on the penis dragon thread(I was on the busses) have had it too x

BettyBluebell Wed 18-Jun-14 23:22:52

Hi could I join this thread? I have been lurking and wondering if I should wait for a March thread. I am only 5+2 had a BFP last week which would make my edd February 18th. I'm feeling very strung out and really old! I have 3 daughters who are 19, 17, and 15, so I basically gave birth in the last century!! With my DDs (trying to get the jargon right sorry I'm a newbie) I was young and carefree and didn't worry much with my older girls. I checked in with the doctor at about 2/3 months (no hpts that I remember), had one scan with each at 16 weeks, didn't get offered to know the sex or anything, all normal births. I am now 39 and my DH is 52. We decided to stop using contraception and see what happened, that was 4 months ago. I can't believe I'm pregnant, and I'm so worried that my chances of mc are high because of my age and my DHs age. It feels like agony to even think about getting through the next week let alone getting to 12 weeks?! I'm bloated, spotty, knackered and emotional. The whole world of parenthood feels very different and theres so much information, but for me that seems to translate as a lot more to worry about

Am I too late to join or is there still space? I have my first scan tomorrow (today really looking at the time! Lol). I'm having an early scan as we've been ttc for 5 years and have had a total of 13mc's :'( I've got a good feeling about this one though and can't believe how different I feel to when I was pregnant with DS aged 5.7! With DS I had no symptoms to speak of and the easiest pregnancy going - heck I actually LOST weight! Lol And it wasn't from morning sickness as I had none (lucky me!).
This time I have every symptom going, my boobs have gone up FOUR cup sizes already, I've got all-day sickness, the most hideous acid reflux known to man, a runny tickly nose, constant sneezing, sense of smell is unbelievably acute, very tired (I could sleep standing up!), headaches, a thirst I cannot quench, food tastes have changed so much that I no longer recognise good and often think it's 'off'....crikey I could go on & on but I'm not moaning! Gosh after all this time and heartache I'd be ungrateful to moan and I'm feeling so blessed. I just have a 'feeling' that all will be ok this time but I'm not taking any chances. I'm resting and not doing anything strenuous at all. I'm actually registered disabled and have stopped all my meds that 'may' have harmed baby. I just can't risk it.

Sorry for the long post but I'm just so excited. We've known since 2 weeks last Monday and have already had to tell people as I'm showing and can't hide it! Lol I did show early with DS but this is something else. I keep getting asked how many I'm having...I'd be over the moon with any number of babies but please God no more than 4! Lol That'd be stretching it hahaha
Anyway I'm sending loads and loads of sticky baby dust to all you ladies. I hope we all have smooth, happy and healthy pregnancies. Here's to our February babes.... :D

PS I'm like a newbie again. I gave up MN 3 years ago as I found it hard after ttc for 2 years and dying the group for support so it's great to be back - sorry if I make any mistakes (like this super long post!) lol

JacktheLab Thu 19-Jun-14 06:04:31

Good morning and hello to all the new guys ;)

donkir Thu 19-Jun-14 14:03:02

Have any of you lovely ladies had more twinges and minimal spotting after intercourse? Sorry for tmi. I know it's all probably normal and if someone else had asked the same question I know if be telling them it's all fine. It's completely different when it's happening to you though isn't it? I have 1st mw app tomorrow who'll hopefully reassure me.

JacktheLab Thu 19-Jun-14 14:08:18

Donkir I did in my last pregnancy, I wrote it down in my diary which I am really grateful for now, light pink blood after sex the night before, I was ten weeks, but everything will be fine I'm sure it will.

I'm out in the car working today and had to have a half an hour nap shock bloody tired seems to be my only real symptom at the moment! brew Anyone? Decaf isn't really cutting it at the moment though!

donkir Thu 19-Jun-14 14:22:04

Jackthelab thanks for the quick response. I'd love a nap but my job as a nanny isn't really accommodating me. Early night for me.

jenmcspen Thu 19-Jun-14 15:19:27

Having a duvet day as just can't seem to keep anything down sad
Seeing the midwife for first appointment on mon, is it worth taking DP with me? could get his family health history better from his mum before hand tbh! grin

Mrsm14 Thu 19-Jun-14 15:22:31

Awful morning here. Got to the airport, having got my head around a bit of dark blood and then went to the loo just before boarding and saw a little tiny clot in the toilet bowl and red blood. Sorry if this is Tmi but had to get on flight in tears and then had a panic attack on the plane. Now sat in tears in a beautiful romantic apartment in croatia with period like cramps, worrying it might all be over. Husband has offered to find a taxi to look for a hospital but I just don't want to go and sit in an er too. Is that stupid? Do I need to go to hospital? There hasn't been any blood since but def have cramping sad

jenmcspen Thu 19-Jun-14 15:32:09

I had a little bit of bleeding and a small clot and nearly worried myself to death. Turned out everything was fine and still get the odd bit of cramping now. How far along are you? I hope everything is okay and u actually get to enjoy ur holiday a little x

Mrsm14 Thu 19-Jun-14 15:35:25

Thanks so much for replying. Feeling awfully alone today. I'm about 8 weeks now. Husband keeps saying maybe we should go to hospital but am I right in thinking there's not much they can do even if something is going wrong? At least in the apartment I am comfortable, even if I am in a bit of a state sad

ProudlymadeinSA Thu 19-Jun-14 15:38:01

Mrs m -so sorry to hear this. You will probably drive yourself crazy staying in the apartment. While it doesn't necessarily sound like you need ER, it may be hard to find an English speaking doctor late on Friday afternoon or Saturday morning for a GP appt, if you definitely want to see someone. Where are you in Croatia? Can we help with googling hospitals/doctors? The alternative is sitting it out, which may not be much fun either. Again, I'm so sorry and am keeping my fingers crossed.

jenmcspen Thu 19-Jun-14 15:43:29

Is your cramping a similar level to period pains, or much worse?

ProudlymadeinSA Thu 19-Jun-14 15:59:08

I've just realised it's Thursday not Friday! What an idiot. Sorry!

LittleMissSunshine33 Thu 19-Jun-14 18:24:45

MrsM hope you're ok must be hard on holiday but I would check it out otherwise you will worry your whole holiday sad must be scary abroad but reading about it ladies have had this and been fine!

blankfornames Thu 19-Jun-14 19:52:58

Hi MrsM, sorry to hear you're going through this. I'm sure it's nothing but perhaps go see if you can see a doctor. That happened me when i was in Thailand & they did an ultrasound on me. They did one the following day also as I kept cramping & they could compare photos. For the sake of your holiday & piece of mind. Ask reception, they'll point you in the right direction. Hope you're ok

GeekyHybrid Thu 19-Jun-14 20:33:20

Thinking of you MrsM, fingers crossed that you can get some reassurance and get on with your holiday.

I had a fun day, sat down with the boss to go through the 3 page 'instruction' regarding company policy on maternity followed by the 9 page risk assessment for expecting women. So as well as no chemicals or heavy lifting I now also have to avoid livestock / wildlife, no ladders and worst of all, no tractor driving :-( At least we managed to have a laugh at some of it, 9 pages, yeesh!

Memphisbelly Thu 19-Jun-14 20:52:48

Jenmcspen I don't know of many people who take their dp with them for booking in, it is just checking your urine, taking bloods, filling in a book and giving you loads of leaflets, all they asked me about family history with heart problems and diabetes. With ds I just took dh around 18 week mark as then they could hear the heartbeat.

Mrs how worrying, really hope it passes, thinking of you.

Went doctors today and got some sickness tablets, managed to hoover! Still feel very dodgy and went tesco for tea and left with some muscles and blackberries then had to leave heaving, thought of eating meat makes me so ill.

Josieurso Thu 19-Jun-14 21:43:40

Hi everyone,
My name is Josie. My friend adviced me to join this as I am pregnant with my first baby. I'm 36yrs & I am 8 weeks pregnant. My due date is 2nd February 2015. I've been with my partner for nearly 11 years & we only started trying for a baby at two months ago. We are exstatic!!!
So far I've been getting really bad wind & mild cramps, also this week my boobs are really sore. My stomac is huge! There are twins in my family & kinda scared at the rate I'm growing!! Lol
Is it just me or does everyone feel like all they want is to fast forward time to the 12 week scan so as to hear the heart beat & know everything is okay?
Anyway congratulation ladies! Yey here's to our February babies ;)) xx

Memphisbelly Thu 19-Jun-14 21:55:55

Welcome josie! I cannot wait for 12 weeks just so that it can be common knowledge, I feel like I am lying to everyone by keeping it a secret, we told inlaws at the weekend as I have been so ill they were getting suspicious that I was in hiding!

Phantomteadrinker Thu 19-Jun-14 22:48:53

Hi, can I please creep in...?got my bfp this week. Completely surprise dc3, slightly terrified smile

donkir Thu 19-Jun-14 22:57:40

When do the hormones stop going haywire I'm completely psycho at the moment. OH doesn't seen to understand that all I need is a hug. Even 12yr old is asking when mummy's hormones will be better hmm

angeltattoo Fri 20-Jun-14 07:16:43

Ok ladies I am officially delurking!
I am 5+6 with DC2, my DD is 14 months old. I am 6 weeks tomorrow. smile

My symptoms have been tiredness and needing to pee a lot, but not much else. Some very mild cramping. With DD I had terrible morning sickness, was sick everyday until 23 weeks. So the lack of MS is worrying me! Ha, remind me of that in two weeks when my head is living down the toilet!

We conceived quite quickly, so I'm feeling very lucky. Unfortunately a few friends have MCed recently so I'm just hoping, praying, wishing everything goes well with this one.

Sorry I'm on my phone so can't namecheck, but with DD I had some red blood and a clot at 6 weeks, she was fine. Early bleeding is common. I remember the feeling though. Hoping you have no more blood and can relax and enjoy your holiday.

Mrsm14 Fri 20-Jun-14 07:45:19

Thanks for the messages ladies. Unfortunately I started to get a lot of pain and bleeding and had to go to hosptital and we have lost our little one. Had to have a general anaesthetic for a

Mrsm14. I'm so sorry to hear that. I'm glad you got good treatment where you are. There's an amazing thread on here that I got lots of support from when I had my mc. Hope you're ok.

I woke up to some blood on my underwear (sorry tmi before breakfast) this morning. My doc has advised me to have a progesterone shot, has anyone had this before in early pregnancy?

Hah! Poor second child/fourth grandchild!

My DH phoned up to let our parents know that there's another one on the way, apparently they were all pleased but generally a bit meh about it all.

Feel better letting them know, fingers crossed there won't be any interfering, something my side of the family are renowned for!

So glad it's Friday night, I've awfully tired this week.

Hope everyone is well?

freneticfox Fri 20-Jun-14 19:32:10

Evening Jack! We told our Mums last weekend, and they both get very emotional! I'm an only child so will be my Mum's first grandchild; we lost my Dad 18 months ago so it is a much needed uplift for the fam smile

I feel like I got a fresh batch of hormones this afternoon, suddenly about 4pm, BAM. Tired. No, exhausted. Have only been able to sit on the sofa and whimper since getting in from work 0_o

scummy2b Fri 20-Jun-14 20:10:49

I'm so sorry Mrsm thanks and [hugs]

LittleMissSunshine33 Fri 20-Jun-14 20:17:19

So sorry MrM take time and rest it's a horrible sad experience sad

thingsarelookingup Fri 20-Jun-14 20:27:12

So sorry mrsm. That is truly awful to go through. I hope you are being kind to yourself.

thingsarelookingup Fri 20-Jun-14 20:30:55

Ooh I'm really looking forward to telling my parents jack. It will be their fourth grandchild too but I think they'll still be pretty excited. I think the 'meh' response might actually come from the fact that they know it's really still months away and the pregnancy bit really isn't exciting for other people? I'm sure they'll be excited as the time approaches.

I'm so sorry to read your posts MrsM. Absolutely heartbreaking news. I hope you have all the love and support you need. After a total of 13 mc's I know how awful it is and hope you conceive again as soon as you feel ready. Good luck for the future.

I had to post this message separately as I felt bad adding it on to my post for MrsM.

So I went for a scan yesterday and I'm pleased to say that baby has a heart beat and a fetal pole smile All is well and I'll have scans every two weeks (thank goodness! I couldn't manage with two scans in my entire 40 weeks!!). It is def only one baby though which I must say surprised DP and myself as I'm showing so much that I'm already in maternity clothes and look nearer 4 months!! Lol

On the scan she noted that she couldn't see my left ovary and this is the second time that's been noted - does anyone know if this is normal? I know I ovulated from my right ovary as I had slight cramping at ovulation but just wondering if left ovary is ok! Lol

Memphisbelly Fri 20-Jun-14 20:58:53

Jack your post made me laugh!
Dh told his family the other day, I had ante natal and post natal depression last time and was sure mil had it in for me (obviously hormones) she wasn't excited at all about ds. Looking back we had only been together 6 months and she isn't a loving person like my mum but she was very happy when he told her...well she guessed. And when he told fil he kept saying well done over and over again grin mil has annpyed me over the past year or so asking if we are trying for a girl....noooo we are trying for a baby!

So glad to not feel sick again today, These tablets are amazing!

freneticfox Fri 20-Jun-14 21:30:15

Random Q, does anyone feel queasy after taking pregnancy vitamins? I'm taking a multi-vit with Folic acid, and I always feel a bit sick after taking it, despite making sure it's with food...

Memphisbelly Fri 20-Jun-14 21:35:34

I haven't been taking mine as I have been too ill to swallow it but will be trying again tomorrow

donkir Fri 20-Jun-14 21:46:19

I take mine at night I'm currently taking pregnacare every night and a separate omega 3 one every other night. The omega 3 definitely makes me feel worse. I know I should take with food but I'm so rubbish if forget so I just got into the habit of switching my contraceptive pill to vitamins. I was taking 7 seas vitamins and these didn't make me feel I'll and are so much smaller.

freneticfox Fri 20-Jun-14 21:51:03

I've been REALLY lucky so far (touches wood) in that I've not had any major food aversions but my vitamins always seem to set off my tum.

GeekyHybrid Fri 20-Jun-14 22:31:59

Thinking of you MrsM, be easy on yourself and we wish you all the best for the future thanks

Skye89 Fri 20-Jun-14 23:58:21

So sorry MrsM, take care of yourself and I hope you're getting the best rl support thanks

Hi all, New to the thread. Just got bfp and due date is 28th February smile

Memphisbelly Sat 21-Jun-14 08:46:55

Welcome fluffymouse.... To have a Feb 28th now on here that means within the next week a March 2015 thread will pop up soon and we wont be newbies

I slept 10 hours last night, still fighting sickness in the mornings until my tablet kicks in and I am totally gutted I don't fancy a cuppa at all!

Ticktick Sat 21-Jun-14 09:14:45

Morning ladies, room for another one?

I got my bfp about a week ago, my edd is 11 feb and I am 6w+1. It's so tricky not being to talk to people about being pregnant and all the worries of the early few weeks.

So glad I have found this forum!

fluffymouse Sat 21-Jun-14 10:15:08

Thank you Memphis.

Welcome ticktock!
