Thanks for the new thread!

Am actually in a very good mood today as I think this is the first day in about 3 weeks when I haven't woke up feeling awful and wishing I didn't have to get up. Am taking advantage of the brief respite to eat something other than jam on toast! cake grin

EDD 8 September 2014
9 weeks 3 days

Can I join you lovely ladies?! Due dc2 on around 29/09 I think! So 6 weeks. Getting a lot of nausea and headaches and tiredness has hit me like a ton of bricks this week.
Looking forward to chatting to you all! Have been lurking for a while!

BooSurprise Thu 06-Feb-14 14:15:43

Afternoon, any news from today's scanees?
duzzy I think you might be local to me, I'm likely to have a 'silver star' baby too, due to previous complications.
I'm still really really tired, and soooo glad I'm not working currently, hoping I'll feel better by the time I go back to work.

DC #2 due 7/9/14 - 9+6 today. Very excited but terrified at same time as had a mmc last year :-( x

rockin20s Thu 06-Feb-14 15:03:27

anybody else getting shortness of breath, I'm panting after climbing one flight of stairs, I'm not THAT unfit!!

isitme1 Thu 06-Feb-14 15:03:52

I think its lotties and carlys scan today?
Cordelia I want jam on toast now!
<off to get some>

KatharineClover Thu 06-Feb-14 16:09:33

rockin - I'm getting shortness of breath too! I have quite low bp though so I wonder if that's it? Had my booking bloods today so will be interested to see if they come back saying anaemic. Also got referred for physio today - my SPD (from preg no.1) is back at 8 weeks - feeling anxious about coping with the pain. It's not too bad at the mo (stiffness and discomfort) so I hope acting early will stop it getting worse. I thought if it came back it would at least be after the nausea has subsided! Poor OH, all I seem to do is moan!
In good news today, DS (who is almost 3 and a very picky eater right now) ate his lunch - including cucumber sticks - a major achievement so we had lots of high fives!

Carly6971 Thu 06-Feb-14 16:12:26

Hi ladies just saw the new thread I have been in hospital since 4am and lost our baby :,( words can't describe how we feel after 6 years of trying, life can be so cruel. Good luck to all of you and thanks for the support. Can't believe this is over it was the best 9 weeks of my life :,( x

lucidlady Thu 06-Feb-14 16:14:21

rockin20s Thu 06-Feb-14 16:17:51

Hubbythecatandme Thu 06-Feb-14 16:21:34
broodylicious Thu 06-Feb-14 16:26:15

katharine omg SPD so early on?! You poor thing! Yak it's absolute agony hmm Whoop whoop for your clever boy though!! Our dd is a rubbish eater at the mo, despite her being a fantastic eater when she started weaning (we did blw so straight on to solids at 6m, she ate everything we put in front of her!)

Hubbythecatandme Thu 06-Feb-14 16:26:24

Had my early scan (re: bleeding) today as well and all is good smile

waybuloony Thu 06-Feb-14 16:32:31

So sorry Carly. Sounds like you've had a rough time of it. Is DH around now to give you RL hugs?

I hope things work out for you soon.

Hubbythecatandme Thu 06-Feb-14 16:37:15

Enjoying it while the nausea is gone for a bit here as well, I too want toast now with Nutella and butter, must resist though as it's naughty naughty!!

KitKat1985 Thu 06-Feb-14 16:42:38

Really sorry to hear of your loss carly. What an awful situation to be in after 6 years of TTC. I really hope you get some luck soon. For now please take good care of yourself and I hope you have lots of support in real life too.

Pleased to hear all okay Hubby.

I'm doing okay. Did briefly get some energy back earlier this week but it has definitely now gone. I think these 5.30am early shift starts are to blame. By 5pm 4pm today I'm horizontal on the sofa and ready for bed at 8.30pm. I'm finding the nausea is becoming more intense (more likely to throw up) but on the positive side generally isn't lasting for hours like it did a couple of weeks ago. I've definitely getting hungrier now though. If I don't have at least a couple of decent sized snacks in-between meals I end up feeling sick with hunger today I took an orange to work, didn't eat it, but bought and ate a giant triple chocolate chop cookie instead. 8 weeks tomorrow. Really hoping this 'blooming' stage starts soon! wink

bugoven Thu 06-Feb-14 16:56:36

carly I'm so sorry sad
We were ttc for over 2 years, mc last September and hopeful that all is ok this time. Hope you'll be on another antenatal thread again soon. Take care of yourself and hope you have others to look after you too Xx

BexBoo12 Thu 06-Feb-14 17:10:24

Just marking my spot if that's ok.

EDD now changed to 7th Sept after early scan
9 weeks 3 days today smile

Sending huge hugs to Carly xxx

kicksandgiggles Thu 06-Feb-14 17:20:31

Marking my spot. Had another scan today, the twins are both doing well. They were wriggling around and measured nine weeks (it would be 9+2 by my dates). I also had my booking appointment with the midwife, who was lovely, but it seems I will be seeing a lot more of consultants than her. Other than that, still feeling sick and tired, but I think the worst has passed.

Really sorry to hear your news Carly sad thanks

I hope everyone else is doing well.

IAteSomeofthePies Thu 06-Feb-14 17:26:51

Checking in. EDD 1/9/14.

I'm so sorry, Carly. Sending hugs.

Scan, NIPT and booking in all went well for me today. What a relief! This is the farthest along I've ever been.

xxmissbrightsidexx Thu 06-Feb-14 17:36:51

So sorry to hear that Carly sad thanks xx

Sicky88 Thu 06-Feb-14 17:37:01

EDD 24th Sept

Well had my booking appointment today at 7+1. It's beginning to get really exciting, now just wish I could stop feeling queasy the whole day.

xxmissbrightsidexx Thu 06-Feb-14 17:38:30

Cordelia I've been living off jam & toast too its all I can manage, apart from the odd jaffa cake or piece of chocolate sad

topmammy Thu 06-Feb-14 17:55:09

Woo New thread grin

So sorry for you Carly sad thanks

isitme I'm 11 weeks too. EDD also 28th August. But I think my scan might show a little later EDD due to long cycles. Nevertheless I'm staying put with this group too grin

Well I'm still sooo hungry all the time. I can just eat through the queasiness dammit! hmm

Jemma2907 Thu 06-Feb-14 17:58:29

Marking my place Ladies. EDD 5th Sept, have give up on trying to work out how far along I actually am as my dates are different I the MW and the 2 scans I had put me at 3 more different dates. I'm approx 10 weeks I reckon.

Have my actual Dating scan booked for the 25th Feb, looking forward to having a date I can stick too!

marie1w Thu 06-Feb-14 18:05:43

So sorry to hear that Carly xxx
I told my boss today, wanted to wait until after the scan but had a problem with a school trip next week. Won't take the hours coach ride with this sickness! She was lovely, I had been so worried.

BooSurprise Thu 06-Feb-14 18:22:19

Oh carly that wasn't the news I was hoping to see, take care of yourself, and I hope you get positive news again soon.

My EDD is around the 13th I think so 8+5, I've got my booking appt and scan in the same week and not until 25/28th feb, had bloods done today, so now it's just 3 weeks to wait. I'm feeling super nervous as this baby wasn't planned and I doubt DH would agree to 'try' again even tho we both are really excited, so I'm kinda doubly worried things are going to go awry.

Carly sorry to hear your news. FX for a sticky bean soon

waybuloony Thu 06-Feb-14 18:51:40

cookie I'm sick of my super-sensitive nose too.
Finally ditched the scented candle in the living room (a posh Rituals one at that) in the hope that I'll stop feeling so nauseous when I sit down to relax in the evenings.
My 2 year old also seems really whiffy to me at the mo which is sad as I kind of have to hold my breath for his multiple cuddles per day. He does have a bath every night so I'm fairly sure he doesn't actually pong smile

TwosaCrowd Thu 06-Feb-14 19:05:43

Marking place - 9 weeks today!

Thinking of you Carly xx

bugoven Thu 06-Feb-14 19:13:18

isitme and topmammy my midwife says my EDD is 30th Aug according to LMP but I know with a 35 day cycle I need to add a week (and probably another 2 weeks as it's my first)

Kt1991 Thu 06-Feb-14 19:14:04

Thanks for the new thread, just checking in. Saw the MW yesterday, I've got quite long cycles but she's still gonna go by my LMP for the moment until the scan so EDD had changed to 8th Sept until now. Making me 9 weeks +2 days.Hopefully can get my scan in for end of Feb though!

Sorry to hear your news carly take care, wish you all the best for the future x

Couldn't face making a proper dinner tonight, really fancied beans and cheese on toast! Still so hungry though, I am all the time atm!

Hope everyone who had scans today went well x

LH1981 Thu 06-Feb-14 19:17:57

So sorry Carly, you must be so devastated. I hope you have lots of support in rl, and I know we're all wishing you a speedy recovery and a sticky bean very soon xx

Still feeling terrible here. Cannot get myself together. Cancelled everything yesterday and just stayed in bed. Bleugh this ms is no joke!!

Hubbythecatandme Thu 06-Feb-14 19:25:01

welcome kkfairybrains!!

Hubbythecatandme Thu 06-Feb-14 19:29:11

LH I am 1981 too smile
Yup MS is horrendous. Had 3 days like you where I had to cancel everything and stay in bed with windows open (freezing myself brrr!), everything seemed to smell and make me sick, I didn't fancy anything to eat and yet the less I ate the worse I felt :s I found lying in bed and really not moving my head really helped. Think it's because MS felt like car sickness and inner ear / balance centre calmed down when I was not moving. Hubby read that using headphones to listen to music with a strong beat background (Calving Harris etc type thing) can help stabilize your inner ear...

Hubbythecatandme Thu 06-Feb-14 19:30:54

Jemma my scan is on the 25th too smile

Hubbythecatandme Thu 06-Feb-14 19:31:52

BexBoo EDD changed here too after early scan today said 9 weeks 4 days so that makes me a day after you hehe! 8th of sept then I think?

Hubbythecatandme Thu 06-Feb-14 19:33:47

Welcome Cordelia oh yes that moment when morning sickness leaves you alone (for a bit) is truly exhilarating!!! Enjoy it!
Waybuloo haha to smelly son lol I thought that about poor hubby, even after he was freshly showered I made him sleep in spare room for 3 days poor thing!

Hubbythecatandme Thu 06-Feb-14 19:35:00

Congrats Iatesomeofthepies and I hope it keeps going further and further for you and for us all xx

Lottystar Thu 06-Feb-14 20:18:58

I'm so sorry Carly, be kind to yourself and take it day by day. That's how I gradually got through my mc in Oct. Sending you lots of love.

I saw my little bean's heartbeat today, still looks like a bean or peanut at 7wks and 2 days but I'm so relieved. One hurdle at least and once you see a heartbeat I think mc risk is reduced. Not out of the woods yet but today made me smile!

Hubbythecatandme, I'm pleased your scan went well too! It's amazing eh? smile

IAteSomeofthePies Thu 06-Feb-14 21:35:09

Yay for good scans Lotty and Hubby! It is amazing. I'm still in a bit of shock. It all feels more real now. I've also had particularly fierce sickness all afternoon and evening to further cement that real feeling. envy That's green with sickness, not envy!

IAteSomeofthePies Thu 06-Feb-14 21:40:46

Fingers crossed for sticky beans for everyone.

Kittyrose1 Thu 06-Feb-14 21:45:07

Hope everyone else is doing ok? Thanks for the new thread broody smile

misog2000 Thu 06-Feb-14 21:55:31

Follow up scan after my bleed a couple of weeks ago in the morning, was to early to see much last time, not had any further pains or bleeding and gone from feeling a bit nauseous to full on throwing up in the mornings so fx everything is ok in there.

Hugs to Carly, sorry for your loss xx

LH1981 Thu 06-Feb-14 22:02:57

Thanks hubby will def try the music thing!

Newlywed2013 Thu 06-Feb-14 23:19:54

Sorry sebsmummy and Carly!

Finally got different anti sickness meds today and think there is an improvement! I can't do anything myself at the mo! Hubby has to help me in and out the bath, struggle with stairs can't walk too far as I just have no energy! Lost 6kg in a month, I am now only 42kg! Hubby hugged me yesterday and freaked out how boney I was! Was able to eat a bit today with new meds so fingers crossed things will improve!

xxmissbrightsidexx Thu 06-Feb-14 23:28:55

Very sorry to hear of the losses girls sad.
Wow rockin good work on that list!

Woke with mad nausea this morn but was lucky enough to be able to go back to sleep and feelin but better now. Got the travel sickness bands yesterday. Does anybody find them any good?

rockin20s Fri 07-Feb-14 11:50:42

woohoo homebirth clinic just rang me and said they will send out my appointment for my 12 week scan this week, woohoo

my best friend had a scan this morning and all is good, 9w2d so just a week over me.

had a sneezing fit this morning and thought my insides were trying to escape the amount of pain i was in! bloody round ligament pain

misog2000 Fri 07-Feb-14 12:08:45

Can I be added to the list please, had my scan this morning and all looks good, saw a little bean with a heartbeat. I'm 6 + 4 so edd 30th September

beckworth Fri 07-Feb-14 13:11:09

Can I join in? Have been lurking for a while, but haven't been brave enough to join til now. First time for me, I have been making myself stupidly paranoid reading stuff on the internet about missed miscarriages, so have been super nervous, especially since I haven't had many symptoms. But had private scan this morning, all good, dates and size bang on and good heartbeat - I'm so happy! I also have this forum to thank for me realising I had a UTI and getting antibiotics, so I figured it was about time I joined in smile EDD is 13th September, so nearly 9 weeks.

charlieis30 Fri 07-Feb-14 13:44:47

@rockin20s I'm EDD 30th now, although haven't had a dating scan - I just miscalculated!

charlieis30 Fri 07-Feb-14 14:06:01

Getting a bit ahead of myself I know, but I'm distracting myself from thinking about feeling sick, worrying about miscarriage etc by looking for nursery ideas on pinterest and deciding what to buy for baby (positive thinking!).
So I was wondering if any of you girls who've had kids before used cloth nappies? Any thoughts? Brand recommendations?

charlieis30 Fri 07-Feb-14 14:23:27

Ignore me, I just found the mumsnet reviews page. Heaven!!! grin

Afternoon ladies, just hopping over from the Octor thread. Official due date is 19th Sept going by LMP but convinced I'm going to be waiting until Oct. had my first midwife appointment today so it's all starting to feel real, not sure i can wait another 3/4 weeks to tell everyone. Hurry up scan date!
Also did anyone else turn down the risk screen/scan thingy? I'd rather not know my personal risk factor

rockin20s Fri 07-Feb-14 14:55:09

welcome Munday im only a day ahead of you, due daye is 18th Sept.

Im in Ireland so I don't believe we are offered the risk screening as standard. so no idea sorry

I have told very few people (3 friends and my boss) but to be honest I'm very happy keeping it to myself at the moment its my little secret and i know once I tell the MIL, SIL and my sister then the whole world will know within minutes.

speaking of telling people- is everyone just blurting out the news are are ye planning on telling people in a special way? I liked the idea of a helium balloon in a box with the ultrasound photo attached but DH thinks its very tacky hmm

Hey rocking I really fancy getting a "bun in the oven" t-shirt and wait for people to work it out!
Pretty sure my mum's guessed already but she hasn't asked and I haven't said! DH accidentally told his sister as soon as we found out!

isitme1 Fri 07-Feb-14 15:16:49

Munday do you mean the 20 weeks scan or the risk for downs?I declined the downs one as it doesn't matter to me, my child is my child.
Thw 20week scan however is another excuse to see baby x

charlieis30 Fri 07-Feb-14 15:34:08

I'm pretty sure I don't want the downs one. I'm only 30 so lowish risk. DH thinks he wants it but I'm not sure I'd do anything even if it came back positive so I just don't see the point. Although probably when I'm sitting there in front of the midwife I'll crack...

hello every1 with a bun/buns in the oven :D
can I join in aswell
28/9/14 roughly 6weeks pregs..
carly im sorry to here your news, hope you are ok,,,, there is always a light at the end of the tunnel don't give up hope xxx cake

Latium123 Fri 07-Feb-14 15:49:57

Hi ladies, can I join? Edd is 12/09 so 9 weeks today. This is my first and I am really anxious about it. Have been too scared to come on the antenatal threads. Have been feeling appropriately nauseus and sore boobies so all good signs but can't help feeling so nervous esp when have always wanted this. Just trying to the one day at a time. Have booked private early scan for Sunday to see what is going on in there!!

Isit it was the down's test I turned down, I'm young, healthy and have no family history. Plus it wouldn't make a difference to the outcome of the pregnancy. Apparently it's 50:50 with people's choices so don't feel pressured!
Ps- anyone else not suffering nausea/ MS? Kind of want a bit so I feel more pregnant!

Missingcaffeine Fri 07-Feb-14 16:36:07

Welcome all the newbies.

I'm 7 weeks tomorrow (EDD 27/9), but unlikely to have my scan for at least another 5 weeks. Those of you who have already had scans, were they done privately? I'm considering this as I'm really inpatient!

I'm finding fresh white bread rolls one of the few things I want to eat at the moment. Don't fancy veggies at all, and normally I love healthy food. Don't fancy tea or coffee. Just nauseous a lot and hate the smell of the fridge when I open it but can't face cleaning it! I haven't told anyone yet, but it's going to be so hard to hide from my family and friends as normally I love tea and coffee and I never normally turn down a glass of wine! And I normally eat anything and everything, but feel really fussy at the moment!

CumbrianExile Fri 07-Feb-14 16:56:12

Welcome all the newbies.

Got my scan date today eeeek. Counting down to 18th Feb now grin

bugoven Fri 07-Feb-14 16:56:13

Oh munday I am really grateful that baby is letting me know all is ok by the medium of horrible nausea 24 hours a day. I would like a little break long enough to do some housework though!

missingcaf I have had 2 private scans, one paid for by mum and then a second by me. I would say it was partly down to impatience, anxiety, excitement and well worth it.

beckworth Fri 07-Feb-14 16:56:59

Missing, my scan today was private. I would say it was worth it for me - I was also impatient/ paranoid about something going wrong. I know there's no guarantees, but I feel reassured - for now at least!

bugoven Fri 07-Feb-14 16:58:39

cumbrian my 12 wk scan is on the 18th too!

cookielove Fri 07-Feb-14 17:02:29

munday I have some mild nausea and some horrific nausea.

I have a really bad cold and I can't smell at the moment. So it means my nausea isn't being so bad today!!

Small bonus even though I feel sh***y!

Sorry sebs for your loss!!

LH1981 Fri 07-Feb-14 17:32:54

Feels wrong complaining about feeling crappy when others have had such sad losses but I'm so I'll and feeling totally sorry for myself. Can't gather the strength to do anything. The house is a mess, I haven't worn make-up for days (a scary sight indeed) and I can barely muster the energy to feed the kids. Slept for 3 hours this afternoon but can't keep my eyes open now.

Yawn xx

weebairn Fri 07-Feb-14 17:39:30

I am the same LH1981. Trying to keep a toddler entertained. And shitting myself about work next week.

KitKat1985 Fri 07-Feb-14 17:49:07

Hello ladies.

Just wanted to say how sorry I am to carly and sebsmummy. I really hope you both get sticky beans soon and I'm really sorry for your loss.

Thanks to rockin for updating the stats. Must have been a long job as I know it hadn't been done in a while. smile

Big hello to all the newbies!

Made the 8 week mark today, so entering the third month of pregnancy. Really hoping this tiredness and nausea eases off soon! x

broodylicious Fri 07-Feb-14 19:22:31

Hey all. This thread is crazy busy!

Re testing for downs - we will be having it. We are low risk on paper but as always, you never know. It wouldn't make the blindest bit of difference to us as I'm vehemently against abortion but it think forewarned is forearmed (is that the right expression?! My brain is not working right!)

A lad who worked for my dad a few years back had an odd experience with this testing - they'd agreed to the test and it came back as 70/80% that baby would be downs. They were told they had less than a week to decide to continue with the pregnancy at which point to come back, scan/test again then decision time. They decided to go ahead. 20 week scan comes round and no sign of downs. Baby is born, no downs. So, make of that what you will, ladies....

Kasia1981 Fri 07-Feb-14 19:39:08

New to all this and to babies EDD 11/09/14 for our first - currently ranging from exhilarated to terrified in 5 min cycles

Cindy5389 Fri 07-Feb-14 19:42:09

Hey, just checking in. 8weeks1day today.. Sorry to hear about ur loses Carly and sebsmummy!

Got my first mw appt on Tues. can't wait to get things started and hopefully get a scan date soon.. Really can't decide when to tell families. Wanted to wait until after the scan, but Dh's sister goes to Australia next week for 3 weeks and my twin sister goes away with the RAF next month for 5 weeks. Would really like to tell them both face to face.. Found out my twin sister goes to Afghan beg of Sept for like 5 months so she won't b here for birth and baby's first few months.

Hubbythecatandme Fri 07-Feb-14 19:49:03

Broody yup people at my friend's church, exactly the same. Very likely Down's but decided to carry on with pregnancy and no Down's at all...
Hubby's mum was 46 when she got pregnant with him and her GP told her she was a silly woman as she would never seen him grow and very likely he would be disabled. Hubby perfectly healthy, had his mum until he was 35 and his dad is still there....

Hubbythecatandme Fri 07-Feb-14 19:49:58

Her GP recommended abortion at the time (1970s for you!) and she said "baby is there, it is staying there"....

Hubbythecatandme Fri 07-Feb-14 19:57:53

I am having all the tests doing. As a couple of you said, I would not interrupt my pregnancy but best to be prepared.
I have worked in a few Special Needs schools, sometimes with severely disabled children and I LOVED these children, I was so protective of them and wanted to protect them more than anything else. No doubt when your child is disabled you just love them exactly the same if not more because they need you so much, that's my opinion anyway.

KatharineClover Fri 07-Feb-14 19:59:45

Hi charlieis30 I use cloth nappies on DS. I switched over when he was 14 months old as I couldn't cope with the continuous poosplosions and I thought I would rather wash nappies than pooey clothes (one momentous poo when sat in his highchair went back to ankles!). I think they are wonderful, we rarely have leaks (compared to all the time with disposables) and I love all the different colours and fabrics they come in. I get a bit evangelical about cloth nappies because they work so well for us! There are some really nice Facebook groups too (search for cloth bum mums). I'll definitely be using cloth nappies for no.2, can't wait to get some teeny tiny ones smile

Kittyrose1 Fri 07-Feb-14 20:03:38

Evening all and hello to the new comers!
Munday, I'm not really having ms just an odd wave of sicky feeling like I've eaten too much now and again. Main symptom for me is sore boobs and exhaustion.

When are you suppose to have the booking appt? I've not had mine or heard anything yet...

Rockin, re : telling ppl I think the ballon idea is cute, I'm thinking of writing cards to 'nanny and grandad', 'auntie' etc so they can keep them if they like.
So pleased it's the weekend!

topmammy Fri 07-Feb-14 20:07:12

Sorry for your losses Carly and sebs thanks

My DH informed me earlier that next Thurs I will be starting my second trimester shock When it's put like that it feels like it's flying by!

Re. Downs screening, I've had the blood test for it. Haven't heard back from the mw so I assume it's fine as she said she'd only ring if there was a problem. I'm still worried if baby will have a cleft lip/pallete as DH was born with this condition. Would never ever abort the baby if it had it though, but I think it's best to be as prepared as possible.

Lottiedoubtie Fri 07-Feb-14 20:14:26

I had a scan on wed at 9.1 because the NHS appointments people messed up, they sent me the appointment, I went, the sonographer said 'what are you doing here'? Fortunately scanned me anyway and referred me for a proper 12 week scan in three weeks time!

It is very reassuring, and I think in hindsight, if it hadn't of been for the cock up I might have seriously considered having a private scan.

lucidlady Fri 07-Feb-14 20:25:12

We are having the screening - I'm a bit older this time round (37). We're having the NHS NT scan at 12 weeks but also having the blood test done privately on Monday. It's just to be prepared more than anything really. With the added bonus that the private blood test gives you the choice of finding out the sex at 12 weeks, when you get the results back! Will get them to put it in an envelope and see how long it takes DH to crack smile.

waybuloony Fri 07-Feb-14 20:34:05

I'm shocked that you can find out the sex via blood test by 12 weeks. Surely that would make sex selection viable and that's supposed to be illegal in this country right?
Newly - hooray for the new meds! Keeping my fingers crossed they continue to work for you as it sounds like you've been having a right time of it - 6kg in a month! Sounds like your DH is being amazingly supportive though. Bless!

lucidlady Fri 07-Feb-14 22:28:27

It's illegal to terminate on grounds of sex but it's not illegal to find out what the gender is at this stage. The Harmony screening test looks for genetic markers for trisomies. You have the option of also finding out gender via the same test as it's DNA based. We're having it done privately as our NHS trust doesn't offer it, but it's available at Kings in London and another hospital in the south. We're having the test done in order to get a more accurate estimate of trisomy risk as my age will mean we get a higher risk on NHS, and I'd like to avoid invasive testing (CVS) as much as possible.

waybuloony Fri 07-Feb-14 23:25:34

In no way did I mean that was on your agenda lucid blush
I'm just a bit surprised that the possibility is out there, though I realise it's secondary to the main purpose of the test.
We actually found out the sex of DS2 at 13 weeks as the sonographer was fairly confident she could tell. It was actually really nice to know so early on...

charlieis30 Sat 08-Feb-14 00:44:00

Katherine - thanks, I'll look into it! It seems like it would save so much money and I really don't want to have to deal with all the extra rubbish of disposables (we live in a flat in central london)

topmammy - My DH has a cleft lip as well. I had a look into everything, it seems that the lip is formed in the first trimester and as long as you're taking your folic you should be ok. His mum had been given blood pressure medication when she was pregnant (which is a risk factor) and from what I could find out, although there are some possible genetic connections, there's no real genetic causal link (DH hadn't had any family members with it) DH had his closed when he was a baby, and it's barely noticeable now. He likes it, he think it makes him special wink

charlieis30 Sat 08-Feb-14 00:45:23

Re announcements, I have been thinking about the facebook one. There is a bib at M&S which says "Born in 2014" (so cute) so I'm thinking about posting that to facebook and tagging DH and myself, to see if anyone works it out! We told our immediate families already, we just went ahead and told them!

bugoven Sat 08-Feb-14 04:33:06

A (very creative) friend of mine posted a photo of three pairs of Converse trainers, one belonging to her, one to her partner and a tiny pair with their both years and 2014 under the baby ones. I liked the subtlety of this (took me a while amd seeing everyone else's comments to realise what the photo was implying).

topmammy Sat 08-Feb-14 07:16:51

Charlie yep if there is a cleft it will have been decided by now I think. Im not massively worried, have been taking ny folic but it will be something we.'re wanting to know we can rule out hopefully! It's strange how random it is, nobody in living memory has one in DHs family either. DH says it's just like a genetic blip that harks back down the evolutionary line to when we were fish and had the split lip.

I think he quite likes his too really, apart from occasionally getting tiny pieces of rice stuck in a teeny hole left in the top of his pallette and not being able to blow balloons up very well as the air escapes out of said teeny hole lol. Have you seen The Musketeers on BBC1? The guy who plays Athos has one, he reminds me a bit of my DH haha!

Sleepisf0rwimps Sat 08-Feb-14 07:42:50

Just marking my place. Heartbreaking to see sad news at this stage. So sorry Carly and sebsmummy. X

HG is shocking here. Had a fortnight off work already. Can barely function.

lucidlady Sat 08-Feb-14 08:00:44

Oh no worries waybuloony I didn't take it that way at all!

Currently lying in bed with DH, DD and the mighty Peppa Pig on iPad, hoping that a) DH will fetch me tea and toast and b) DD will be a daddy's girl for once and make him get up and play her random games with her so I can lie here in peace!

LH1981 Sat 08-Feb-14 08:32:38

Hi Ladies, have foregone a lie-in to stuff some ginger cake and peppermint tea down me to hopefully stave off ms.

Wrt screening, I will have the tests and I know it's controversial (but just being honest), I'm not sure I would go through with the pregnancy if we found there was something really wrong. More for the sake of what an impact it would have on our two boys than anything else. I truly admire people who do go ahead and completely understand the decision but I think our decision would be different.

Really interested in the gender blood test! Happy either way but would be great to know earlier!

broodylicious Sat 08-Feb-14 12:07:15

Morning ladies smile not much to say at the mo, all is the same. I just started a blog and I'm intending to post about pregnancy and life to my toddler. When I've made a few posts and am happy with how it's looking, I'll post the link as it'd be great to have your thoughts.

Newlywed2013 Sat 08-Feb-14 13:47:21

10 weeks today! A quarter of the way there!
New meds are starting to work so starting to feel a bit more human again! Woohoo! First bit of feeling positive for quite a while! :-)

RhubarbCrumble1 Sat 08-Feb-14 14:01:53

First baby
First posting
First time in 5 weeks I've managed to enjoy a bit of food & starting to cheer up (courtesy or cyclizine)

EDD by LMP 3rd September

bugoven Sat 08-Feb-14 15:18:49

Glad you're feeling a little better due date buddy newly and welcome rhubarb. I have barely moved since Tuesday because I feel so sick! Braved a nice walk this morning in the hale and wimd. I felt better while I was out but soon wore off once I was inside again. I'm not actually being sick that much so don't think I could justify medication, I just feel constantly nauseous.

velvetlilithi Sat 08-Feb-14 15:55:51

broodylicious: My sister had exactly the same experience with her first baby. After the Down's test came back, it was positive 70%. She decided to continue and no signs of Down's syndrome at all.
Everyone has to take something theirs from the testing. Nothing is for sure!

LH1981 Sat 08-Feb-14 17:38:16

Hubby has gone out to get me MacDonald's (I know, naughty naughty) and anti-sickness bands from boots. He's being amazing at the moment as I am more than useless!

weebairn Sat 08-Feb-14 17:44:28

I bought anti sickness bands this morning. I'm not sure whether they're doing anything or not. I feel like death. I have been in bed for most of the day and have no idea how I am going to work long shifts on my feet next week. Keep repeating to myself it's a good sign it's a good sign… I feel horrendous

7 weeks today

weebairn Sat 08-Feb-14 17:45:13

LH1981 glad DH is being lovely. Mine is too, he has taken the toddler for the entire day. I would rather eat eyeballs than mcdonalds right now. I have no idea what I could eat. Wail.

topmammy Sat 08-Feb-14 17:49:40

I had McDonalds today too LH blush but I suddenly really felt like having a quarter pounder burger so I just give the MS what it wants! Wish I had cravings for broccoli or fruit instead lol

Lottiedoubtie Sat 08-Feb-14 19:01:04

Bleugh just come up for air from a massive puking fest. When will the sickness end??

cookielove Sat 08-Feb-14 19:16:20

I had a cheeseburger happy meal today and spent the rest of day suffering for it! sad

Lottystar Sat 08-Feb-14 19:51:20

Hi ladies, sorry for those who are suffering so badly with ms. I am having waves of nausea but little sickness so will count myself lucky! Just awful constipation (sorry if tmi!) I am soooo craving junk food at the moment and need to watch the weight gain, I put on 5 stone with my first ds and it was very hard losing it! Going to join Slimming World to watch the pounds whilst pregnant. It's not a diet as such, just healthy eating and is the only one supported by midwives. Anyone else considering this or have problems not being an utter muncher during pregnancy?

LH1981 Sat 08-Feb-14 19:57:22

Got my sickness bands on and they actually seem to be working! Still feel nauseous but nowhere near as severe as before. Big Mac didn't go down too well, felt quite sick eating it but after dh kindly went on a bit of a mission to get it for me I had to 'man up'! grin

bugoven Sat 08-Feb-14 20:01:20

Lotty I lost 2 1/2 stone pre conception with Sliimming World. I haven't been since 6 weeks when my ms kicked in as I have been too exhausted and didn't want to give my game away earlier than I was happy to. Going to go back after my 12 week scan though. Miss my friends there and would like to keep weight gain to a healthy minimum. I think the plan will work perfectly when ms has eased.

BooSurprise Sat 08-Feb-14 20:07:15

lotty I'm loosely following slimming world at the mo! and hopefully as nausea goes will get back to it fully, 2kg lost the first week, but this week gah, have eaten body weight and more, not looking forward to my weigh in Monday, wonder if I can salvage my week tomorrow?!

Is anyone else just tired beyond belief? I am utterly exhausted even with not working. I feel like I need to sleep for at least a month.

LH1981 Sat 08-Feb-14 20:17:15

Yes boo, for the last 3 days I've spent about 3 or 4 hours in bed in the afternoon. Sooo tired!

topmammy Sat 08-Feb-14 20:34:15

lottystar I am certainly leaning towards the becoming an utter munched in pregnancy. Not doing slimming world or any particular diet strategy yet. Trying to make amends for my McDonalds earlier by having carrot and coriander soup for tea!

topmammy Sat 08-Feb-14 20:34:55

* utter muncher! ha!

KitKat1985 Sat 08-Feb-14 20:39:26

I'm with you with the exhaustion boosurprise. Slept for about 12 hours last night and still fell asleep on the sofa after lunch today. Does anyone else feel kinda 'fluey' at times as well? I go through periods of feeling exhausted and shivery and all my muscles ache.

Managed to get through dinner despite MS bothering me all day. I always feel better once I get a proper meal in me but getting it in can be an effort!

Current craving food of the day is fruit sorbet. Nice and refreshing when feeling nauseous. x

Lottiedoubtie Sat 08-Feb-14 20:51:22

Yes KitKat that's exactly how I feel!

Just whinged to my DH that I feel, 'hot, cold, shivery, full, hungry, sick, overfull, tummy aches, and fine all at once'

Opps, poor love is being very supportive but I fear I'm not being terribly coherent!

marie1w Sat 08-Feb-14 21:05:24

First day in about 4 weeks that I have felt relatively normal. Just brief waves of nausea, which is bearable. 10 + 3 so hopefully this is a turning point!? Have been able 2 get some housework done and am up after 8pm. Rock n Roll eh ladies xx

Lottystar Sat 08-Feb-14 21:40:55

Happy to be SW buddies with you ladies, I'm happy to gain the necessary weight with pregnancy but also I want my diet to be nutritious and not cream buns and Big Macs! It's not good for me or the bubba. I'm joining again next week.

I'm whacked most of the time, I think tiredness is one of the main symptoms of early pregnancy but I remember it easing off in the second trimester of my last two pregnancies. Apparently our body is working harder at rest that a non pregnant person's body does at exercise (according to my pregnancy app) so no wonder we are shattered! smile

charlieis30 Sat 08-Feb-14 23:35:17

I'm lucky, I work from home so have been having 1-2hr naps during the day! SO exhausted and incredibly grumpy (poor DH!).
I'm 6+5 today and the MS has definitely ramped up this week. Last week was a bit queasy but this week it's much more constant nausea. I seem to be doing well compared to others though, so I'll take it! Whenever a wave of tiredness/nausea crashes over me, I say "oh hi little Bean" to the baby. I've got DH giving it regular kisses too, to try to get him to feel involved wink
Anyone else have jaw/neck/head issues? I have been having headaches (I feel hungover most of the time, which seems a bit mean since I can't drink wine!) and a very tight jaw. Also very tight neck muscles. Need to try to stress less for the bub I think.
No cravings except I'm in Australia at the mo (where it's summer, obviously) so lots of watermelon and coconut water. I seem to be craving fresh things (watery fruits, broccoli, kale) and toast & butter mmmmm

xxmissbrightsidexx Sun 09-Feb-14 09:21:33

Hiya ladies brew Everyone okay?
Been floating about the last few days, sickness is taking over my life. I put a whole chicken in the slow cooker earlier on, and was gipping all the way through it, I was even trying not to touch it lol. Usually love chicken!!

Daytona79 Sun 09-Feb-14 09:47:06

Would like to join

Due 27th Sept
7 weeks and 1 day

First pregnancy and terrified :-(

BexBoo12 Sun 09-Feb-14 10:09:22

Welcome Daytona smile welcome to the terrified club wink it's totally normal to feel scared hun, but do try not to stress, not good for you or bean. This is my first too, and I know exactly how you feel.

I've been a bit off radar lately, I've been mad busy at work. I seem to have dodged ms, I have waves of nausea that can literally knock me off my feet, but I've found if I eat something stodgy like toast within a couple of minutes of feeling nauseous, it curbs it completely. The waves are not very often, maybe once a day, possibly less. I will probably get stoned to death for saying this by all the poor ladies who have been suffering terribly I do send all my love out to you ladies suffering particularly bad, I really do take my hat off to you xx

isitme1 Sun 09-Feb-14 10:26:40

Checking in.
All is well here apart from the bloody headaches!
I have ms but not too bad thankfully.

How is everyone? too lazy to look back lol

charlie I'm have that tight jaw the last week! And had bad headaches during the week. They've gone now thankfully.

Also gone missing is the nauseahmm. Yesterday and today I feel fine and that's going from all day nausea. Don't know what to make of it. Boobs still really sore and still tired so trying to bit think too much of it.

LH1981 Sun 09-Feb-14 11:12:43

I'm 8 weeks today and got my booking in appt later. So, that means I must shower and then myself back into a civilised human being. Have felt so rough the last few days I've not even brushed my hair. But these sick-bands have really worked for me and now I'm terrified to take them off. I wonder if I can shower with them on?!

rockin20s Sun 09-Feb-14 12:22:26

Just checking in. Feeling ok just tired

BexBoo12 Sun 09-Feb-14 12:28:15

Nice to see you rockin xx

Metalhead Sun 09-Feb-14 14:57:25

Hi all, sorry I've been absent for a while. I've kind of been trying to not think of myself as being pregnant anymore so that I'm prepared should I get bad news at my scan on Wednesday. If you remember, I had an early scan two weeks ago which put me at 6+2, even though I should have been at least 7+2. So Wednesday will show whether baby has continued to grow or caught up with my dates, or whether it's died.

I'm still feeling nauseous and tired, so hoping that's a good sign, but at the same time I have already accepted that this pregnancy might not have worked out. Anyway, will update after I've had the scan.

Kt1991 Sun 09-Feb-14 15:03:01

bex I'm the same as you, not actually been sick but had lots of nausea, can't face going shopping anymore, told DH were doing an online shop as I come back feeling awful! Ginger biscuits are helping me at the moment. Been pigging out on a lot of junk food though so must try to cut down! Be felt awful this week too, as also been unwell with cold/sore throat etc. thankfully had a nice relaxing evening with DH last night while my DM had DS over night. So great full for that extra couple of hours sleep!

broodylicious Sun 09-Feb-14 15:49:22

Hi all. Sorry to hear about all the ms. It's so tiring feeling rubbish isn't it?

I have an actual obsession with cheese. Cannot get enough!!

Lottystar Sun 09-Feb-14 16:11:27

Metalhead, best of luck with your scan. Sorry I've not read back over the whole thread but are you certain your dates are right? I found out I was pregnant 9dpo so very early on. My dates were correct but that's only as I was using opks so knew when I ovulated, could you have fallen pregnant a week later and found out really early if that makes sense, so thought you were further ahead? Really keeping my fingers crossed everything will be okay. Remaining symptoms are a positive x

BexBoo12 Sun 09-Feb-14 16:36:52

Kt, we went shopping late last night and I wandered the aisles of Asda for over an hour before finally deciding that I wanted chicken butties so bought a loaf and some chicken breast. I have to say, they were divine lol.

BexBoo12 Sun 09-Feb-14 16:37:26

Good luck on wednesday metal head, will be thinking of you. Do let us know xx

whiteblossom Sun 09-Feb-14 17:44:53

evening all, just checkin in, I need to catch up on whats been happening but my dinner is ready and I just saw your post bex about chicken butties.

That's what Ive been eating since last night, dh roasted a chicken and its divine! Ive added coleslaw and it hits the spot! Im about to have some now.

Kittyrose1 Sun 09-Feb-14 17:54:52

Sounds like we are all feeling pretty ropey!
I woke in the middle of the night feeling sick but wasn't, then today I was stood in a shop queuing to pay and I suddenly came over really unwell, came home and slept an hour and a half. Been laying on the sofa since. I've got a really horrible "hangover" type tummy, it's obv not a hangover, is it a common pg symptom? I feel sicky with it and tired beyond belief!
Wishing you all some relief ladies x

LH1981 Sun 09-Feb-14 18:03:53

We are a right bunch aren't we?!
I feel useless, the house looks like a bomb's gone off but I just can't face it. Dh just cleaned the kitchen for me so I can go and do dinner. In a minute...

On a positive note, I just had my booking in appt and have learned that there are some changes to the forbidden food list since last time I was preggers and now I can eat sushi, cured meats and Stilton!!! I am one happy lady!

Metalhead Sun 09-Feb-14 18:14:48

Lotty I'm pretty sure of my dates as I was using opks and we only dtd once on the day I got a smiley, plus according to the scan dates I would have got my BFP two days after conception!

topmammy Sun 09-Feb-14 18:29:31

Chicken and coleslaw butties sound sooo nice! I want one now! Had a warm one of those at Dublin airport once in a crusty baguette, mmmm!

I've just resurfaced after having a nap for a couple of hours, feeling super tired.

Ms seems to be a bit better really, but seems to have been replaced by tiredness. Saying that though last night in a half asleep state I randomly sat bolt upright, coughed and wretched. No vom though thank God!

broodylicious Sun 09-Feb-14 18:29:50

lh Stilton is ok?!?!! Omg!!!!!!

bugoven Sun 09-Feb-14 18:42:50

Today I did laundry and hoovered!!! I woke up feeling physically quite well. Of course then descended into emotional melt down but so relieved to have not felt impossibly nauseous all day. Maybe 10 weeks was my turning point and now I'll "bloom" obviously unrealistic optimism is part of emotional incompetence

broody advice is to avoid it but only because of a minute chance of poisoning from blue vein cheeses. Please don't panic! Xx

LH1981 Sun 09-Feb-14 18:48:12

Apparently Stilton is fine, but that's the only blue cheese that is ok. Says my widwife anyway. I'm going to check on Google for a current food list x

BexBoo12 Sun 09-Feb-14 18:50:13

Nhs has an avoid foods list

topmammy Sun 09-Feb-14 18:51:37

I wouldn't eat Stilton if you paid me to. Not because I think there is too much risk but because it is so disgusting! I call it the smelly socks cheese, haha.

LH1981 Sun 09-Feb-14 18:54:51

I LOVE Stilton!! Yep. NHS says it's fine. Just not soft blue cheese.

Daytona79 Sun 09-Feb-14 19:08:17

I've had a great day, got up had breakie, walked my dogs.

Then went to the yard (I have a horse). Stuck her in the trailer and drive to local Forrest, rode for two hours round the woods, got back to yard, cleaned my trailer, got home at 5pm made dinner for me and hubby.

Quite proud of myself :-)

I find if I sit about I tend to feel ill etc, but if I get up and get out keeping busy I feel pretty much normal.

Daytona79 Sun 09-Feb-14 19:09:50

But I did wake at 1am this morning and felt really really sick , which is strange. Managed to go back asleep without being sick. Thank goodness

broodylicious Sun 09-Feb-14 19:13:22

Whoop whoop!!! I'm going to have a smelly sock cheese feast!!! Haha. Always thought it was off the menu but thinking back, that was Brie as I love that too.

daytona good for you! I was never sick when I was at the yard or riding in my last pregnancy. Well, bar the time I had a little sick come up during a dressage test but tbh that could just have well been nerves! Reckon you're right about being busy and not having time to dwell on feeling yukky.

Daytona79 Sun 09-Feb-14 19:17:40

Yes defo I'm c

Daytona79 Sun 09-Feb-14 19:19:46

Yes defo I'm convinced being outside busy in fresh air helps, one day I did stay in and I sat on the sofa, feeling exhausted and ill. But if I get up and outside first thing with a plan for the day I feel ok.

misog2000 Sun 09-Feb-14 20:41:36

I always feel better once I get to the yard too Daytona, think its a combination of the fresh air and 'having' to just get on with it as she isn't going to muck herself out lol

Daytona79 Sun 09-Feb-14 21:26:58

Yeah totally I'm sure it's prob the same for pregnant women who also have say a toddler to look after, you just got to suck it up and get on with it , feelng ill or not type thing.

broodylicious Sun 09-Feb-14 21:28:39

Apart from a horse is helluva lot easier to deal with than a toddler!! wink

isitme1 Sun 09-Feb-14 21:34:05

Ladies ive fallen over and hurt my foot sad
My gosh it fucking hurts!
I did this in mu 1st pregnancy (fell down stairs on holiday, concrete stairs)
its the same foot and cant put all weight on it sad
it came out of place last time and some handy man popped it back in (no pain relief whatsoever! )

misog2000 Sun 09-Feb-14 21:44:26

Oh dear broodylicious don't say that......I'm already panicking about knowing nothing about babies or small children!

misog2000 Sun 09-Feb-14 21:45:31

sounds painful isitme, hope you can get it sorted again soon

broodylicious Sun 09-Feb-14 21:53:16

misog don't worry about it smile a lot of it is the same as a horse (geldings anyway) - tell baby what you want, be kind, understand how they think/feel, they do it. Lol! Xx

misog2000 Sun 09-Feb-14 21:57:52

Lol thanks so if I can manage my mare, I'll be fine (well as fine as you can be on no sleep) x

broodylicious Sun 09-Feb-14 22:05:23

Absolutely! You'll be amazed at what you can do when you're filled up with that love hormone, oxytocin! (You may want to keep her rugs clean though, in case you fancy a little recovery nap at the yard wink)

cookielove Mon 10-Feb-14 08:08:52

Off to the doctor to tell him to start the booking in process! Yay!

Also gonna ask what cam i take for this cold sad

Missingcaffeine Mon 10-Feb-14 08:17:11

Isitme I hope your foot is feeling better today?

Daytona, we have the same due date (27th Sep) and it's my first pregnancy too and terrified too, though I'm starting to relax a little.

Kittyrose and Charlieis30 Hungover is exactly how I feel all the time, but I haven't touched a drop! Tired, nauseous, headachy and have that feeling that I need to eat something to feel better, but don't really want anything.

I'm thinking about making a trip to buy some sickness bands today LH1981. I have constant nausea that only occasionally disappears (usually after eating). Last 2 days I've also had a constant headache, but thankfully woken up without it today. I find if I keep busy, I am less focused on the nausea. Thankfully no vomitting, but quite a few close calls and visits to the toilet thinking I would vomit. The only foods I fancy are very plain like white bread and chicken and maybe very mild cheese. I'm managing to force down veggies, but it's a struggle and normally I love them.

This weekend I tried to go for a jog, as I've been so lazy the last few weeks and I used to exercise a few times a week. To start off I felt great being in the fresh air and my nausea went. My energy levels are really low and really it was more walking than jogging, and then towards the end I got hot jogging, I nearly vomitted. I do not feel like I want to go through that again, so I'm thinking about trying to find a yoga class instead or maybe I'll just walk more.

I also feel hot and cold at the same time in a strange kinda shivery way intermittently. We had the heating and fire on yesterday, but I still sort of felt cold sat next to the fire. I don't have a temperature though. I normally feel cold a lot anyway, but it seems to be a bit worse since being pregnant. Whether its because I'm being so lethargic and normally I'm always doing stuff round the house?! I kept falling asleep whilst reading my book this weekend.

We told our close family this weekend. That was quite exciting and special. If all goes well, our parents will both be grandparents for the first time. It's nice not to have to pretend anymore to them, and they'd all sort of been guessing anyway. My mum said I'd looked really ill the week before and she spent the journey home telling my dad how worried she was about me, but now it all makes sense and apparently I look better this week! I was also due to go to spa with partners mum this week, and she knows I normally love a hot sauna and jacuzzi, so she would have guessed.

broodylicious Mon 10-Feb-14 08:26:18

missing I have some of those sickness bands and find they have helped manage the nausea a little. I got mine off eBay though as the prices online are much better - I paid just £1.79 with free postage but in boots they're about £8! They're brand new, proper seller...gotta love eBay!

isitme1 Mon 10-Feb-14 08:34:34

Its not swollen, just really painful just under ankle.

To top it off ds2 had a temp of 39.9!
Bronchiolitis again sad

charlieis30 Mon 10-Feb-14 09:27:11

Hi ladies
Started bleeding about an hour ago (6w6d) Brown with no clots so have fingers crossed it isn't anything to worry about. Waiting at doc office for ultrasound now. Shaking!
Would be worrying more if lots of you lovely ladies hadn't said how common it is!

isitme1 Mon 10-Feb-14 09:29:54

Good luck charlie
Fx all is well
lwt us know what they say x

xxmissbrightsidexx Mon 10-Feb-14 09:37:39

Good luck Charlie, hope everythings okay xx

xxmissbrightsidexx Mon 10-Feb-14 09:38:49

Morning ladies not with it this morning and can't spell lol xx

duzzlightyearsmum Mon 10-Feb-14 09:58:25

BooSurprise I'm in Oxfordshire so I'm guessing you must be too? I haven't heard anything from them yet but am fairly confident my care will involve constant blood tests and last time my hydrocortisone levels dropped dangerously low along with my sodium and led to a seizure when DS was 6 weeks old! Praying for not too many needles though, god I hate the buggers!

Still having some morning sickness but I'm really hoping for not much longer as I will be twelve weeks next week!

Missingcaffeine Mon 10-Feb-14 10:25:06

I have my fingers crossed for you Charlie. It's so common, so hopefully it's nothing to worry about.

Thanks Broody I will have a look and get some ordered. I love eBay!

LH1981 Mon 10-Feb-14 10:26:35

missing hope the bands work for you, they definitely help me although they don't eradicate the nausea completely.

Just been to burger king with some of my school mum friends. We usually go there for coffee as there's a little play area for the toddlers so we get to have our coffee in peace. However, seeing as I'm off coffee, today's order was a full fat coke, an orange juice and a cheeseburger - how embarrassing blush

Good luck Charlie hope it's nothing to worry about. Let us know how you get on xx

rockin20s Mon 10-Feb-14 10:50:16

charlie fingers crossed
isitme you poor thing, have you seen a doctor about your leg?

ladies i am gong to eat super healthy this week! lots of water, fresh veg, and little of no carb....hopefully my hips have gotten massive

i think my inlaws have guessed! DH thinks im over analyzing everything but even FIL started asking about who was driving saturday night (SIL Birthday drinks) and who was driving Sunday (after SIL birthday lunch). up to now it was just the MIL asking these questions, FIL normally is happy to sit and watch whatever sport is on TV.

But i really dont want to tell them till the 12 week scan is done, if something was to go wrong i would prefer to deal with it in private as the MIL would drive me up the walls helping sitting drinking cups of tea wanting to talk while i want to be in bed

also got some bad news my dads partner has to get some serious surgery next week so we have decided that we will wait to tell them until she is fully recovered which could take a few weeks. my dad and PIL live 5 mins from each other so cant tell one without the other so they will all have to wait!

charlieis30 Mon 10-Feb-14 10:59:33

Bad news I'm afraid, ultrasound showed sac 2 weeks to small so looks like I'm miscarrying naturally. Otherwise booked for d&c in one week sad

rockin20s Mon 10-Feb-14 11:12:42

charlie im so sorry! thanks hugs to you!!

Rockin there's no swelling just pain under my ankle bone. If it doesnt subside I will get it checked. Im at hospital on Wednesday anyway

LH1981 Mon 10-Feb-14 13:27:11

Sorry to hear that Charlie, hope you're getting lots of hugs and get your sticky bean soon xx

Missingcaffeine Mon 10-Feb-14 13:36:44

Look after yourself Charlie. Big hugs.

rockin20s Mon 10-Feb-14 15:39:13

How is everyone feeling today?

my healthy eating went out the window at lunch time as i was starving and had no idea what i wanted to eat! but i am trying to keep up my water intake

Lottystar Mon 10-Feb-14 15:41:20

So sorry Charlie. I was in that position in October, I know how you're feeling and how awful it is to be told that during a scan. Look after yourself, lots of tlc and it slowly gets easier day by day x

lucidlady Mon 10-Feb-14 15:57:08

So sorry Charlie. That was me in July and I know how devastating it is. Fingers crossed that you have a sticky bean soon. Take care of yourself and be kind to yourself. Sending hugs.

Currently sitting in waiting room waiting for my Harmony test. Think I get a scan as well as blood test and I'm just full of scan doom today. Really hope things go ok - DH is at work and I'm sitting shaking silently with fear all on my lonesome sad

IAteSomeofthePies Mon 10-Feb-14 16:08:02

I'm so sorry to hear that Charlie. I was there in October. Sending massive hugs your way. Take it easy, if you can.

I had the Verifi test last week, LucidLady. The scan doom beforehand was terrible! The scan was very reassuring, but now the wait to get the results back feels interminable. It's kind of like you just pass from the one thing you're worried about right onto the next, with no intervening period of relief. Maybe I'm just getting good at this pregnancy thing! wink

topmammy Mon 10-Feb-14 18:07:06

So sorry to hear your news Charlie thanks big hugs xx

Ahhh the head asked us today in staff meeting to give him our preferences about moving year groups next year. But I really didn't want to tell him till after my scan next week and I know things are ok for certain. Hmm what would you do?

Lottiedoubtie Mon 10-Feb-14 18:21:14

I'm not that superstitious so I would probably tell him the truth.

Or else I'd tell him what I would want if I was not pregnant.

KitKat1985 Mon 10-Feb-14 18:41:19

Hmmm, I'd probably tell him at this stage topmammy so at least he's knows where you're at, and just ask him if he can keep it quiet for a bit until you feel ready to tell everyone. x

topmammy Mon 10-Feb-14 18:42:58

I think I will just tell him as if I wasn't pregnant yes and then stick to my original plan to tell him after the scan. I'm not superstitious or pessimistic about my scan but I would find it really awful and hard if I had to 'untell' a non-family member I think.

topmammy Mon 10-Feb-14 18:44:44

His wife is one of the teachers.. not sure if he would really keep it quiet totally because of that. Argh. I wish he hadn't dropped this on me ha hmm

Lottystar Mon 10-Feb-14 18:52:51

I hope it went well Lucidlady? Out of interest, what is a Harmony or Verifi? Just a reassurance scan?

broodylicious Mon 10-Feb-14 18:54:48

I'd just tell him what you'd want if you weren't pregnant. I'm not superstitious but like you say a) would he really keep it secret and b) if you then had to go through the heartache of un telling him. At the end of the day, he's a head teacher and it's his job to sort all staffing so I would never feel bad about delaying your news til you're certain and comfortable.

Desperate for my scan letter to arrive. Due this week according to mw who said it'd be two weeks after my booking appt. hurry up already!!!

calliegs Mon 10-Feb-14 19:05:51

Had dizziness every day. Not heard from midwife - how long does it take from telling the GP you're pregnant to hearing from midwife/getting booking appointment through?
Thanks all

broodylicious Mon 10-Feb-14 19:40:46

Welcome callieg smile Mw like to see ladies between 8-12 weeks so I'd reckon you'd be due your appt anytime now? My dizziness stopped after five or so weeks, it was horrid, hope you're managing ok x

rockin20s Mon 10-Feb-14 20:48:27

[Sad] have a uti, just back from the doctor who gave me antibiotics

Kittyrose1 Mon 10-Feb-14 21:05:43

Charlie I'm so sorry to hear your news today, keep positive for the future which you seem to be xx

Goodness you really can't take it for granted can you?

Topmammy I would tell your head what you think as if you weren't pg and then once you've had your scan etc you can tell him the news, still plenty of time for them to sort things out.

Missingcaffeinei get that weird shivery cold thing too, I feel the cold a lot anyway but this is much more so than usual. Having to wear extra socks and have a blanket over me when on the sofa! Haha what a pair we are.

In other news I was just sick in mouth from a burp - how attractive am i! Evenings are crappy at the moment!

Fairypants Mon 10-Feb-14 21:20:19

I'm so sorry to hear your news Charlie. I wish you a speedy sticky bean.

Top, I'd probably tell him your easy on year groups (if you get the one everyone wants you'd probably feel bad) but not tell yet.

We were away for the weekend with dhs friends and their wives (most of whom i dont know) with black tie dinner so had great fun hiding the non drinking. Lots of fake sipping and casual swapping of glasses with DH and even dd1. We were on the home straight (had managed to finish a bottle with some topping up of a lady on our table) when said lady decided to buy a bottle of champagne for herself, me and one other lady to share! DH took it like a man despite normally not drinking much I'm very proud of our familial duplicitygrin

Ms is still going strong here but is at least only in the morning. I have to wait another 4 weeks til 12 week scan and currently trying to convince myself that we'd pay £70 for a posh meal to cheer me up...why not spend it on a scan at 10 weekswink

IAteSomeofthePies Mon 10-Feb-14 21:56:28

LottyStar Harmony and Verifi are different brands of the noninvasive prenatal blood tests that you can have privately to test for trisomys, specifically Down, Edwards and Patau's syndromes. They're more accurate than the combined test (less likely to have a false positive) but less accurate than CVS or amnio. No increased risk of miscarriage, though. There's a lengthy thread about Harmony in the antenatal test section. I'm am oldie, so I was likely to be a high risk combined result, and then didn't want to agonise over amnio, so splashed out on a better test instead of a holiday.

IAteSomeofthePies Mon 10-Feb-14 21:58:35

Forgot to say you have to get a dating scan beforehand to ensure you're at 10 weeks. I hope it went well LucidLady?

cookielove Tue 11-Feb-14 08:40:41

I'm worried. My symptoms seem to be dissappearing, and the doc said I can't have an early scan even though the midwives said I could so I'm going private instead. Although I was asleep by 8.30 last night.

On the plus side the doc is pushing my paperwork through early in the hopes they will give me a scan earlier. But I don't think it is likely.

My cold is just a cold, no chest infection which is good.

Sorry charlie to hear your sad news!

rockin20s Tue 11-Feb-14 09:31:18

my symptoms are coming and going, my main symptom was constipation for the last month but that has righted itself over the weekend. try not to read into it too much.

many people have symptoms on and off over the first trimester.

KatharineClover Tue 11-Feb-14 09:46:35

My symptoms have eased off too over the last couple of days - ms comes in waves rather than continuous. I'm 9+1 so trying to keep positive that they are easing because the placenta is building, but I can't help but worry. Still waiting for a 12 wk scan date but it should be around the first week in March.

cenadi Tue 11-Feb-14 10:12:18

Hi everyone, I've been a bit silent as been feeling so rotten! Currently flopped on sofa in fleecy blanket, second day off work and absolutely no energy or brainpower. MS has abated a little in the past week but still rears its ugly head first thing in the morning! Anyone else feeling totally useless at the moment? I feel like if I can't even get on with my normal day, how on earth will I manage with a baby?!

EDD is currently 10 Sep (slightly revised at booking appt last week) and my scan is on 3 March. Have to see consultant next week though as DH has congenital heart condition so (only very) slightly heightened risk for our baby.

Hoping I'm feeling much better and starting to glow before we head on our delayed honeymoon in April (booked before we knew of pregnancy...!)

lucidlady Tue 11-Feb-14 10:31:24

Hi everyone, hope we're all ok today?

Yesterday's appointment went really well thanks iatesome - scan measured bean at bang on 10 weeks which was lucky - they'd have sent me away otherwise! It was amazing to see the difference in bean in less than a week (I'd had a scan last Tuesday due to more bleeding)! Bean has arms and feet and was wriggling away!

Back in 2 weeks for the results, fingers crossed everything is still ok.

lotty you were asking what the Harmony test is, iatesome explained it really well and here's a link that tells you a bit more about it: www.fetalmedicine.com/fmc/03-harmony-test/

I'm also a bit of an oldie so want this additional screening so I have something other than the NHS NT test, which will likely give me quite poor odds as a result of my age.

lucidlady Tue 11-Feb-14 10:34:08

Forgot to say - at midwife today for my booking in appt. will update later!

Hope everyone is ok today smile

Daytona79 Tue 11-Feb-14 10:39:52

Can I ask a question

First pregnancy so zero clue what's normal

Since the week before I found out so now about 3.5 weeks my belly is always sore

Kinda a mix of period cramps, feeling you get when you maybe have a upset tummy , to a bloated feeling

I constantly feel niggles in my belly

Is this normal..??????

I've had no bleeding and did get a internal scan at 5.5 weeks and they seen a blob with a flicker said it was a heart beat
The reason being I had more pain to right side so they were checking for ectopic , but baby was where it should be

But they found a 4cm cyst on right ovary but told me not to worry it was common and would go away on its own.

Lottystar Tue 11-Feb-14 10:44:25

Thanks iatesomeofthepies, I didn't realise you could get those tests privately. Maybe worth looking into if they are more accurate.

My sympathy goes out to those of you still bad with ms. I'm not having a great day with nausea but the constipation is just making me feel rotten and bloated hmm

rockin20s Tue 11-Feb-14 10:47:51

i have had period like cramps since about 2 days before my period was due, i was convinced i was having a early MS as i had tested positive 4 days before my period was due

i have found the cramps have gotten less and less, i think its just your uterus growing. the hormone relaxin is also working away loosening all the muscles that connect your uterus to everything else.

i have what i have been calling 'sneeze pains' due to the round ligament muscles loosening. i get a stabbing pain at both hips and inwards when i sneeze of cough. thankfully that too is easing off

whiteblossom Tue 11-Feb-14 12:31:58

hi everyone,

Charlie if your still reading this, Im so sorry for your loss. huge hugs.

Rockin I cant find an update on your scan, how did that go? Im assuming all is well.

Ive finally got my 12 week scan date through for 28th feb, which is the day before my DS1 bday party so Im a bit worried that if anything is wrong Ill be in bits.

Ive noticed quite a few people have had scans at 5.5 weeks like I did and they have seen heart beats- I didn't. That's added to my worry. Today Im having quite stong pains which Im thinking are ligament pain even though its one sided. I think Im getting myself into a worry frenzy, I just need this scan to know everything is ok and I know how devastated Ill be if its not. I don't think I could go through this again sad

It would be nice to have a list of peeps name with their scan dates so we can follow and update? Not sure how to do this.

Im meeting a friend for coffee on Friday and she is the one person who will ask me if I have any news...How on earth do I keep a straight face and say "not yet"....aarrggghhh

rockin20s Tue 11-Feb-14 12:43:37

whiteblossum so far i have handled the 'any news yet?' 'well any honeymoon baby?' very badly, flew off the handle at my sister when she asked about a honeymoon baby!! but we are not close and i found it a VERY personal question. i think the any news question is easier to answer, have a back up bit of news mine so far has been 'my job is very unstable waiting to hear if ill have a job next week' this has completly stopped all other questions! wink

my scan went great. i thought i was 7w2d but the little guy was measured at 7w1d so all is good, saw i very lovely heartbeat, forgot to ask what the heart rate was whoops. i got 8-9 photos but really there is not much to see. my friend had a scan at 9w and it looked like a baby mine just looked like a blob.

the sonographer did give out to me though, it was a private scan and they only do external (no internal scans), i told them on booking i would be 7w2d and they allowed me to make the booked but the sonographer was saying they dont gaurentee to see the heartbeat till 8 weeks and that i shouldnt have booked!

the scan lasted about 4 minutes (the most expensive 4 minutes of my life) but it gave me great relief. now the relief is building again, i want my 12 week scan but that is going to be at least 4 weeks ago sad

xxmissbrightsidexx Tue 11-Feb-14 13:38:48

I've just had my booking in appointment, bloods taken/wee sample etc, 12-14week scan will be coming through the post and apparently that will be the scan where they test for Downs via the scan and my bloods, consultant appointment coming through the post too as my 1st born had shoulder dystocia on the way out, had to see a consultant about it with my 2nd too but thankfully he discharged me, hope I get discharged from this one too it all seems a bit pointless especially as I had a completely problem free birth with my 2nd.
Did anyone get a bounty pack at their booking in? I didn't, just my notes and vitamins xx

xxmissbrightsidexx Tue 11-Feb-14 13:42:10

I had a scan about 2 weeks ago I think it was, wasn't expecting to see anything but saw the bean and heartbeat. At the scan I was told I was 6w 2d, so today I should be 8w 2d, well mw told me today I'm 9w?? Wish they'd just tell me one thing and stick to it. Do I just go by the dates of what the sonographer told me?

whiteblossom Tue 11-Feb-14 13:46:32

missb I got a bounty pack at my booking in apt. I'd forgotten about that, Ive had to hide it so DS doesn't see it grin Mostly full of advertising to be honest.

xxmissbrightsidexx Tue 11-Feb-14 13:49:01

When do you next have to see your mw blossom ? Mine told me to make an appointment at the docs to see her at 16w. Seems an age away sad xx

waybuloony Tue 11-Feb-14 14:03:21

Hi everyone,
How's all doing?
Woke up yesterday morning to find the ms cloud has finally lifted. I'm 11+4w so am desperately hoping that I've made a breakthrough! It's weird to think that this time last week I just thought it would never, ever, ever end. Trying not to count my chickens but am baking cupcakes this afternoon to celebrate for the school cake sale.
Scan this Friday...I'm so excited but have convinced myself that I'm having twins as I already have a bump that I'm sure can't be all blubber blush but I didn't show with DS2 til 17 weeks!

lucidlady Tue 11-Feb-14 14:42:37

missbrightside I was told I was 8+5 last Tuesday and then yesterday, a mere six days later, I was told I was 10 weeks exactly! I think at these early stages you get little growth spurts etc and so that's why they don't reliably date a pregnancy until 12 weeks, when things have settled down a bit.

whiteblossom Tue 11-Feb-14 14:46:40

missb next apt to see MW is 16 weeks but Ill be 15 w as DH cant make the week after that. I had to book it myself a few weeks after my first apt because their system wont book that far ahead. You would think that in this day and age of technology they could really sort this out.

I think from the moment they know you are pg they can print out a calendar of booked apt for you and if they don't suit you ring a number/see reception and amend. No waiting for the post/delays.

It is a long time away, I thought that too. Ive no idea what I do If I need to speak with someone before that.

urgh How I wish MS would bugger off! Its better but I still have to eat small amounts all day and Im fed up of trying to work out what to eat!

I dread to see what the scales say...

broodylicious Tue 11-Feb-14 14:59:19

Haha way, I'm the same, totally convinced I'm having twins because I do have a bump already. Didn't show til 4.5 months with dd! Although I know it's common to show earlier with subsequent babies because our bodies have done a lot of the stretching already. DH keeps saying "don't say that" when I say twins - think he'd be in denial until they actually arrive!

Lottiedoubtie Tue 11-Feb-14 15:18:58

waybuloony you give me hope, I can't wait for the day my cloud lifts!

waybuloony Tue 11-Feb-14 15:54:52

Ha broody when I mentioned the possibility of twins to DH he said 'errr, don't we have an insurance policy that would cover that'! Not quite sure exactly what that was supposed to mean but I'm guessing he'd be in denial too...

whiteblossom Tue 11-Feb-14 16:23:00

well my DH has just rained on my parade. In fact Im really pissed of with him.

He didn't seam excited about getting the 12 week scan date through, so I asked him and he said "but we knew we would be getting a 12 week scan" confused er yeah so did I but my reaction completely different.

Me, Im really excited to finally get a date to look forward to, finally find out if everything is ok, get a pic and FINALLY tell people....hoorah.

Then he says we cant tell DS on his birthday weekend because it with overshadow and maybe ruin it for ds as he might not be happy about it! He says for the sake of a week we should wait. At which point Ill be nearly 14 weeks!! How does he expect my family not to notice my belly which is normally flat?! Im sad he thinks our ds will not be happy, I think he'll be over the moon excited.

My dh has no idea how hard this has been to hide and how my family are pissed off with me because Ive not done stuff for them/put them off etc. Ive been in hiding and its bloody hard.

hmmmum Tue 11-Feb-14 16:29:01

I think I'm about 9 weeks pregnant, due beginning of sept. But I haven't had a scan yet and don't have one booked as we are in the process of moving and I don't have proof of my new address yet! I can't wait for that to be sorted so I can check the baby is doing ok in there and also tell people... It's rough not being able to tell anyone why you're feeling so ill! I think the nhs might get pissed off at me for showing up at the gp 9 or 10 weeks pregnant and wanting a scan in 1-3 weeks but I've been sofa hopping for a month and haven't had a permanent address. This afternoon I just can't move. I think my toddler is pretty fed up. Oh well at least she had a fun morning. I would love to go sleep right now for like 5 hours.... So nauseous. All I want to eat is plain pasta or french fries. Heeealllthy varied diet.

broodylicious Tue 11-Feb-14 16:30:12

missb when you saw your mw at your booking appt, didn't she give you a schedule of visits within a little handbook/leaflet? I've got a booklet that outlines what to expect from
Community mw care and what appts I will have at what week. I get less this time round as it's my second (I don't understand that, it's still a baby and still my pregnancy?!)

waybuloony Tue 11-Feb-14 16:35:03

How old is your DS whiteblossom? If he's little you could maybe tell him a week after but still tell your family.
Or try and gauge his reaction by asking him how he would feel about having a little brother or sister one day?
Weirdly our eldest DS turns 5 the week after our scan and we'll be telling our family at his birthday party. The day will still very much be about him ie, party, cake, presents etc.

hmmmum Tue 11-Feb-14 16:37:43

Whiteblossom, to me your reaction about your 12 week scan makes total sense - it's fun and reassuring and for me it almost makes the pregnancy official, like you're definitely not making it up, there is definitely a baby in there! It's as name your dh isn't sharing in the excitement or being more understanding of how much you want to be able to tell people...but maybe he just isn't thinking. My dh didn't act excited about our 12 week scan first time round but then when he saw the baby on the computer he was delighted. I keep telling him "you don't know what it's like to be pregnant". It's reAlly hard feeling rotten and cancelling people and not being able to explain. I'm being a total hermit right now, I'm too tired to socialise.
Could you maybe tell ds on his birthday weekend just at a different time from his party? I really don't think the news will overshadow his birthday as long as you tell guests to focus on fussing over him more than on your news. It makes sense to tell people as soon as you've had your scan.
Anyway this probably doesn't make sense because I'm writing with my toddler trying to talk to me, I'd better go and give her some attention!

xxmissbrightsidexx Tue 11-Feb-14 16:45:50

No broody I just got my antenatal notes xx

whiteblossom Tue 11-Feb-14 16:50:26

hmmmm you make complete sense and you totally get where Im coming from. My ds will be 8 wayb. I didn't plan on telling him minutes before his party but soon after yes. I was hoping to get ds to wear a tshirt saying "soon to be big brother" when all the family came round but I didn't even mention that to dh he's being so negative. I told him why not wait till Ive given birth and see if anyone notices!

I just feel like I was really excited and that he's well.... pissed on my chips grin An extra week to him is nothing, makes no odds whatsoever.

LH1981 Tue 11-Feb-14 17:33:57

Well, my pregnancy is the worst kept secret in London. My bro-in-law accidentally let it slip to our boys, as he didn't realise we hadn't told them and they've pretty much told everyone. Teachers, friends, strangers in the street smile

I'm ok about it. It's actually a relief not to have to pretend and now we've seen the heartbeat our risk of mc reduces to around 2%.

Now just want this awful ms to do one and all will be good!

CumbrianExile Tue 11-Feb-14 18:12:16

Wayb my nausea seems to be easing too. Am 11 weeks so moving in to the hopefully blooming 2nd trimester grin

This time next week I will have had my scan and be able to tell people. I can't wait!

rockin20s Tue 11-Feb-14 18:12:35

Got my 12 week scan date march 10th. Woohoo just under 4 weeks away

Fairypants Tue 11-Feb-14 18:13:09

Broody, my colleagues wife is having twins by planned section tomorrow and he's still in denial. I think he may have to accept it tomorrow tomorrow though grin
White, We approached dd's subtly in advance by working 'if mum had another kid now...' Into conversation prompting a conversation where we could sound them out. Once we knew it would be good news to them, it made it much easier.

cookielove Tue 11-Feb-14 18:18:54

eep breaths ladies I've got my private scan tonight at 7.15. I'm 7+5 or 6! Scared!

whiteblossom Tue 11-Feb-14 18:37:53

oh * cookie* how exciting!!

fairy dh suggested sounding ds out before hand but what if he says "narrr" or busts into tears! Im sure he wont but you never know. I have made comments over the years. ds has wanted a sister to lock out of his room (yes that's the sole reason grin) or a brother to boss about. He loves his friends older sister and he adores one of his friends younger brothers. I really think he will be fine. ds is a very caring sole and looks after others.

Im getting ahead of myself, Ill just get the scan out the way first!

KatharineClover Tue 11-Feb-14 20:00:50

LH1981 my pregnancy is a similarly badly kept secret - MIL guessed at 6 weeks and I felt so awful I just told her the truth, which then meant I had to tell my family too, and then I had to let work know (partly because of my health, partly because of timetabling for summer/autumn). Now at 9weeks loads of people know, but they would all know if the worst were to happen, so I'm trying not to stress, and I'm actually relieved as I really hate lying. Just hoping all goes well for he scan (don't have a date yet and I really want something to count down to!). DS is almost 3, and he points at my tummy and asks what the baby is doing, he also says he has a 'baby in my tummy' (actually it was a jeep up his jumper lol).

Kittyrose1 Tue 11-Feb-14 20:08:46

Hey ladies
Cookie hope the scan goes well. On the subject of people knowing, it's still only me and dh but I'm dying to tell ppl now. I am 8w today based on Lmp, all day though I've Benin worrying about mmc sad I'd never heard of them before and now I'm thinking the worse which I know is silly. I'm now thinking about paying for a private scan as 12w scan not until 14th march - I'm i being ridiculous?

Lime19 Tue 11-Feb-14 20:12:09

Evening ladies! Hope everyone is well.

I will be 10 weeks tomorrow, I feel time is going so slowly! Scan booked on 27th! Can't wait! Had an early scan at 7 weeks, saw heartbeat smile today I have been having stabbing pains in my lady parts (sorry tmi) lasting just a second at a time. Anyone else had anything like that? I don't have it right now but it happened today and I had 6 or so separate stabs! Might call epu tomorrow.

I have been feeling super emotional lately too... I was a blubbering mess at the end of call the midwife!!! Mr lime thought it was funny I got into such a state.

Lime19 Tue 11-Feb-14 20:16:33

It is a worry kittyrose...Id pay for a private scan every week if I could smile can you tell it is my first baby?! mr lime says I'm very impatient...very true. I keep saying I want it to be September now! He says being pregnant will teach me to be patient and good things come to those who wait etc.

Kittyrose1 Tue 11-Feb-14 20:21:49

Hi lime, your glad you had an early scan then? I'm so not patient either and I know I can't change anything but it's the waiting and not knowing I can't stand! Dh is same as mr lime and tells me good things come to those who wait, but also is happy for a scan if I really feel it necessary. What to do, it's not cheap hey..

broodylicious Tue 11-Feb-14 20:23:24

lime it doesn't change with your second dc! I'm a constant worrier and need that scan!

cookielove Tue 11-Feb-14 20:25:02

There was a heart beat!! Yay!!

broodylicious Tue 11-Feb-14 20:27:29

kitty same here re mmc. DH's sil and an ex colleague of mine both had one and I just dread turning up to the scan and being told the worst. But I'm trying to be positive and think that worrying is not going to change things, only waste away days and nights. Such a frustrating time, this first 12 weeks!!

Lime19 Tue 11-Feb-14 20:29:10

I actually had my scan because of pain, I didn't pay. It was at the epu. I had been getting period type cramps so strong that they woke me up! It was the best thing. Seeing the heartbeat. To put my mind at rest and make sure there was actually something in there. I am still worried for the scan at 12 weeks though. I guess I'm just a worrier!

Kittyrose1 Tue 11-Feb-14 20:32:05

Thanks broody I'm glad I'm not alone in the neurotic pg women boat ;) hehe, in all serious though I know how common it can be and it must be such an awful experience. I think I, just going to book a private scan as if it's all good it will be worth the moment settling my mind till the 12 wk scan.
Yay cookie fab news, was it amazing?

Kittyrose1 Tue 11-Feb-14 20:32:50

Moment = money

Lime19 Tue 11-Feb-14 20:34:06

Good news cookie!

LH1981 Tue 11-Feb-14 20:34:25

Lime, could it be the start of a uti?
Or just general pregnancy pains - don't worry about it too much unless it gets worse. I'd just drink plenty of water/cranberry in case of uti.

Katharine, I do find it easier with people knowing actually, but also understand those who want it kept under wraps. I'm all for telling anyone who you'd want support from should the worst happen anyway, and for me, we're such a tight-knit group, that telling one means telling all really!
There's a woman at the school who keeps asking how I am and I know she knows because my son told me that her little girl told him in the playground. So she must have overheard something, but still refuse to tell her and she keeps giving me these 'knowing' looks and for some reason she's annoying me and I want to tell her to keep her beak out! Must be the hormones! blush

Just spent ages making dinner only to not be able to eat once it was ready. I was really looking forward to it (fishcake, boiled new potatoes and stuffed pepper) and now it's turning my stomach!

Kittyrose1 Tue 11-Feb-14 20:36:17

Ah I see lime sorry I thought you'd paid privately for one, I'm so glad they check on nas when you get symptoms like that. I wonder what the stabbing pains are about in the lady parts, will u mention it to your midwife or gp? Im sure there's a logical explanation. I keep getting twinges in my lower abdomen and when I cough or sneeze I get shorting Spain's - I'm guessing it's all the ligaments loosening up.

Lime19 Tue 11-Feb-14 20:39:51

Hope it's just stretching. Going to call midwife tomorrow and I will report back. No other symptoms. Just hope it's nothing bad.

Kittyrose1 Tue 11-Feb-14 20:41:07

Sorry my typing truly is awful! Shooting Spain's lol

beckworth Tue 11-Feb-14 20:49:01

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who is finding it difficult to keep it a secret!

I fully intended to wait until after the 12 week scan, but so far I have told the colleague I'm closest to at work, because I knew someone once who started miscarrying at work and I couldn't face that happening and not having someone to turn to. I also had to tell my boss today, because like some others, he was making workload plans for the rest of the year, and I would have felt awful to let him get on with it and then throw a spanner in the works in a few weeks' time. On Friday I am having lunch with a friend I don't see often, who has already texted me to say she is the same number of weeks pregnant as me. I would have felt such a cow to sit there and let her tell me all about that, not say anything, and then in a few weeks have to text her and say 'oh by the way....'. Oh, and then next weekend I am going on a pre-planned spa weekend with a bunch of girl friends, and will have to tell them because I just can't come up with a decent excuse for not drinking, OR going in the sauna, steam room or jacuzzi!

So much for not saying anything til after the 12 week scan, if you count the fact that my best friend has almost certainly guessed, it's the worst kept secret in the world!

cookielove Tue 11-Feb-14 20:55:27

It was great. Really quick. But seeing the hb which was so clear was just amazing.

To all those worrying about mmc. I had one. And it is scary but you just have to say to yourselves today I am pregnant!

xxmissbrightsidexx Tue 11-Feb-14 20:57:22

Don't you just hate how your once favourite foods can make you feel so sick? OH insisted on Dominos tonight, he got me my usual side and personal pizza, I had to force a few wedges down and 2 slices of pizza. He's not happy with how little I'm eating, but I can't help it sad When I do fancy things lately it's always sweets or cakes lol.
In other news, my sister told me that she's pregnant today!! Nobody else knows, except me.. Think she's due in October by the looks of online duedate thingy, Im over the moon for her smile xx

Metalhead Tue 11-Feb-14 22:25:34

I've got my private scan tomorrow afternoon to see if bean has continued to grow after the first scan which put me over a week behind my dates... wish me luck!

Our dd is unwell, nothing major just nasty cough and cold, feeling clingy and needing lots of love. We co sleep when she's ill as it really settles her. She just woke up and rather than the mardy cry she often does as she's still tired, she planted a big snog on my face. Twice. Then cuddled me for ages (in toddler time!) This ladies, is what it's all about smilesmile [warm and fuzzy feelings]

Good luck metal x

Lottiedoubtie Wed 12-Feb-14 09:30:56

Despite feeling dreadful for weeks now with random sickness throughout the day I had my first bought of 'traditional' morning sickness this morning. Straight out of bed and puking. This is what I thought it'd be like! Do you think in ten minutes or so I'll magically feel better and be able to resume normal activities?

wink crosses fingers.

Bonnella20 Wed 12-Feb-14 11:06:14

Hi all smile

New here
EDD 26/9/14
7 weeks 5 days

Sending love to all future mummies smile

CaseyRossi Wed 12-Feb-14 12:29:08

Hi Cookie

I paid for a private scan which i had last Sat, i was sending myself nuts with Dr Google and forums, cause i wasn't getting much even nausea let alone sickness i've just had uterus aches pretty much constant and occassional pains and alot of tiredness really. Terrified of mmc and sending dh mad it was worth every penny of the £85, i can now relax for the next 3 weeks until 12 week scan, allow myself to get excited and this weekend...tell the folks smile

My dates were spot on, now 9+3 had scan on 8+6 didn't see much as my womb tilts far forward atm (will pop up soon i've been told) the midwife had to press so hard to get an image and i think baby was facing other way, it was a good job i didn't have to go with a full bladder, therefore now not looking forward to the nhs one, might have to wear an incontinence pad just incase, tmi smile we heard heatbeat, very strong and beating at the right speed for dates, will hopefully see a little more like arms and legs at the 12wk scan, 2 weeks on fri smile

CordeliaScott Wed 12-Feb-14 12:39:11

I have a scan at the EPAU tomorrow morning as have been spotting since Sunday and I have low back ache... Trying not to think about it at the moment and to stop self-diagnosing with Google... Not feeling the most positive right now although dh has just sent me flowers to work as he knows I'm a little upset. sad

whiteblossom Wed 12-Feb-14 13:44:59

Cordelia good luck tomorrow, let us know how you get on xx

Well Ive had a really good day!! no nausea (have kept eating though). Ive been into town, had my eyebrows done, sat in a coffee shop and had lunch, popped into sainsburys to grab a few bits and dropped some flowers off at my mums. No nausea!! please please let me turned that corner! Never did I think I would ever return to the world of the living, I will have to re-intergrate grin

I did have a terrible night (often do) I wake up about 2/3am starving, really starving but I just cant drag myself out of bed to eat. But then I cant sleep because the hunger is so strong and it makes me feel sick. So I lie there...lol

JulieHE Wed 12-Feb-14 14:48:36

Signing in as a September mum. I'm at 10 weeks. Eeek!

broodylicious Wed 12-Feb-14 15:11:51

broodylicious Wed 12-Feb-14 16:18:52

Grrrrr!! How annoying. Still no scan date in the post yet (9+5, MW at booking appt said I would receive the letter by now). Phoned the hospital like a psycho to speak to the antenatal team and see what's going on. Lovely woman says they've not even received my notes yet!! She did say not to worry and that they're chockablock but still.... Grrrrrr!!

I'm ok though, obviously gutted but I think because I've had two weeks to prepare for the worst it's not come as quite such a shock.

Good luck to you all! x

I don't understand mmc's. Can anyone explain it to me? I'm too scared to Google it as don't want to get sucked into reading too many scary things. Got my scan next week and starting to feel pretty nervous!

I'm so bloody hungry all the time and my will power to resist seems to be on holiday hmm. There were doughnuts at work. I ate Three!!!! 3!!! (Over 2 days) but still, very piggy of me blush

cookielove Wed 12-Feb-14 20:29:24

So sorry to hear your news Metal it really is rubbish!!

Feeling better about pregnancy today, felt really sick this afternoon such a reassurance.

Work colleague is pissing me off cause it's all about her at the moment and i just want to slap knock some sense into her!!

Topmammy I ate 4 funsize doughnuts today, and they weren't even that nice blush

Casey hello, my womb is tilted too, the bloke who scanned me said it was tilted away and that it was really hard to get to, so he had to press really hard, he kept saying just to try to relax which was uber hard!

rockin20s Wed 12-Feb-14 20:41:19

topmammy my understanding of a missed miscarriage is when the baby stops growing but you don't get any pain or bleeding. it is only discovered in the ultrasound a few weeks later.

i have no will power today, i stopped at the shop after work and bought two chocolate bars (you know one for tonight and one for tomorrow night) well both have been devoured

i made a very healthy and tasty dinner but just didnt want it. they girl i live with mid week (work away from home) made potato waffles and i was just staring at her eating them! only eat half my healthy dinner then.
might pick up some potato waffles tomorrow

KitKat1985 Wed 12-Feb-14 20:43:42

Just wanted to say really sorry to you metal. I hope things go okay at the hospital tomorrow and you have a sticky bean soon.

Good luck to everyone else having scans soon.

Hope everyone else is okay. I've been away for the night to celebrate DH's birthday. Was nice to go away for the night but am shattered now! xxx

broodylicious Wed 12-Feb-14 21:14:12

I think mmc must be the worst thing to go through, I just can't imagine the emotional pain. I know I've already said so privately, metal, but you've my condolences and thoughts xx

Glad I'm not the only one shoving all and sundry into one's tummy. I cannot stop munching. Latest thing = pretzels.

Dd still poorly. Won't go to sleep for longer than 20 minutes at the moment so I'm already in bed while dh does a little co sleeping stint with her. Expect I'll be doing a later shift as dh has got a nasty cold too and he needs some good solid sleep to help recover. My poor little mites!

cookielove Wed 12-Feb-14 21:38:08

Mmc is the worst as it is so unexpected! I have never cried so much in my life sad

bugoven Wed 12-Feb-14 21:41:59

rockin I had potato waffles today with mayonnaise. Did you know you can cook them in the toaster? I am that adverse to any food prep it came in handy earlier =)

Metalhead Wed 12-Feb-14 22:24:48

Thanks for all the messages ladies, it means a lot!

I'm as ok as I can be, I guess it just wasn't to be this time and in all fairness I did have a bad feeling about it from the start. Better luck next time hopefully.

velvetlilithi Thu 13-Feb-14 08:00:37

So sorry to hear that Metal. Wish you good luck next time and joyful full 9 months.

I'm 8 weeks tomorrow and having a booking appt in 3 hours. Horrible waiting for last 3 weeks. Still worrying I'll hear bad news.

By the way, my sister is just going to have a c-section with her 4th baby. Can't concentrate on anything else, just my baby and hers-my new niece. Oh God, they start in 5 minutes and in about an ahour hope I'll get a picture of my lovely niece.

Another thing, does anyone know if on the 8wks appt I'll get a scan as well?? And what about picture of my baby?
Or is it just gathering of info of my medical history etc?

It's my first baby so don't know what to expect there althought I read a lot about it.

KatharineClover Thu 13-Feb-14 08:05:08

velvet your booking in appointment will basically be lots of form filling and information giving. No scan I'm afraid.

isitme1 Thu 13-Feb-14 08:42:25

Ohh metal im sorry x

hows everyone doing? Katharine have you seen dr yet? Have you got a birth plan?
I saw dr yesterday and she requested a renal scan and Igot tto see baba again smile

The pain I had in my leg went by time I got there and came back last night and then went
It's not really a pain either so I doubt its a clot.

Very sorry to hear your sad news metal. It's just devastating sad.

So jealous of anyone who's seen their babies! Another 3.5 weeks to wait for our scan!

So so sick here. All day and all night. Can't stand the smell of food cooking in the house! Makes me puke every time. So I'm living on crusty rolls, bagels and ham. And the odd dry cracker. Poor dd I feel sorry for she heard me getting sick this morn and was really upset.
anybody got any tips on what to drink with the nausea and sickness? I can't drink water, tea or coffee.envy

velvetlilithi Thu 13-Feb-14 09:35:09

KatharineClover So how they find out that baby is fine and developing normally? So I won't be able to see the heartbeat?? sad

isitme1 Thu 13-Feb-14 09:48:26

Kk I wasnt expecting a scan yet but as I have renal problems dr wanted to make sure all was good amd gota sneak peak at baby. Its sooo worth the wait! Rather than sseeing a blob you will get to see a proper baby! It was sooo clear yesterday clearer than last scan! Arms legs head tummy etc!

Velvet they just do history. If you have bleeding or cramping (some cramping is normal) they might scan at epu if you ring up otherwise its best to wait until you get to see a proper baby rather than a blob iyswim.

IAteSomeofthePies Thu 13-Feb-14 09:49:02

Metal I'm so sorry to hear your news. Take care of yourself and I hope you get a sticky bean soon. Hugs.

Daytona I hope your scan went well!

Broody I hope your DD and DH get well soon. You need sleep, too!

Yeah, sorry Velvet but booking was just form filling and weight and height and some blood and wee tests for me. Unfortunately, you have to wait til the 12 week scan. It seemed to take ages to get here.

I'm elated because had clear results back from my NIPT blood test. What a relief! It only took 3 working days in California, plus the time to overnight the blood there (and a weekend in the middle). I hope yours come back just as soon, LucidLady and that the results are the same! 12 week scan tomorrow. Even though I had a good one last week, I still have the scan doom. There's no helping it, I guess.

Sending anti- nausea thoughts to all the sufferers. It just got better this week for me.

CordeliaScott Thu 13-Feb-14 10:18:27

I had my scan at the EPAU this morning and everything was fine. They measured it at 9+3 which is a week less than I thought but all looked good. They thought the blood was just the placenta implanting into the uterus. DH cried, God knows what he'll be like when I'm actually giving birth...

IAteSomeofthePies Thu 13-Feb-14 10:47:27

Great news Cordelia! Maybe implantation was just a bit late.

broodylicious Thu 13-Feb-14 11:11:41

Thanks pies, they're both a bit zombie like this morning. I did the 2-7am stint of co sleeping with dd. She feels hot but no temp. Hate guessing what issue could be! Docs later or tomorrow if she gets worse.

velvet yep no scan til 12 weeks I'm afraid. It's the longest four weeks you'll have to wait!! Til then, form filling and worrying wink

lucidlady Thu 13-Feb-14 11:51:01

That's great news iatesome! And so fast. I've been told it will be 2 weeks for our results to come back, so have an appointment on 24th for results and NT scan. Got the NHS scan on the same day so that should be fun - two scans in one day!

So pleased for you, that must be such a weight off your mind smile

rockin20s Thu 13-Feb-14 13:10:17

i had a good night sleep last night, it seems my baby is allowing me one night of good sleep a week.
by good i mean i went to bed at 11, slept, peed at 3am, slept, woke at 7am. that is seriously good in comparison to the rest of the week!!

still exhausted today sad

i had a scan at 7w2d and my friend had hers at 9w3d, the difference in 2 weeks is amazing. im just looked like a blob whereas hers had a distinct head and body

cant wait for my scan!!

KatharineClover Thu 13-Feb-14 13:46:02

isitme thanks for asking smile I'm waiting for physio SPD referral at the mo, so will discuss birth then to start with. I've ordered natal hypnotherapy CDs as I got so stressed and anxious last time in the run up because of my SPD (and fixated on a water birth that didn't happen, which I think contributed to how I felt about the birth afterwards). The midwife didn't say I wouldn't be able to use the birthing centre (in the same hospital as delivery ward) because of PPH etc but she had already ticked hospital and crossed it out when I mentioned birth centre hmm
velvet they don't check the baby until the scan at around 12 weeks - they don't even confirm your pregnancy test. With DS I remember being so worried at the scan - afraid that I had made a mistake with reading the pregnancy test and they would tell me it was all in my head! I'm trying to be calm and think positively this time (it's not always working though!).

Lottiedoubtie Thu 13-Feb-14 14:10:35

I've heard it said about the doctor not checking your pregnancy till 12 weeks a lot. And was all prepared for that, but when I told the doc I was pregnant they immediately got me to do a urine sample and checked! Maybe it's just my area.. or I look like a liar? smile

beckworth Thu 13-Feb-14 14:43:16

Lottie, I haven't even seen the doctor. When I rang to make the appointment and told the receptionist what it was for she told me I only needed to see the doctor if I didn't want to keep it! Gave me the midwife's mobile number and told me to ring her, midwife then scheduled my booking appt for between 9 and 10 weeks.

waybuloony Thu 13-Feb-14 14:54:01

kkfairy maybe try apple juice. I lived off it when ms was really bad and I went off all other drinks including water and most food. I think it helped because it's so sweet. Now I've added black rooibos tea to the repertoire! Woohoo!

At my bookin in appt mw made me blow in a tube to test for carbon monoxide. I'd told her I was a non-smoker and that we've no gas supply at home so it would be unlikely to detect anything....sure enough it was clear but also made me feel like I was being treated like a liar. Anyone else have this test done? Is it standard procedure?

Lottiedoubtie Thu 13-Feb-14 14:58:36

beckworth crazy the regional differences isn't it?

waybuloony my sister (next county along) had to do the blow in the tube 'smokers test' as well, and also felt like they were calling her a liar. But so far haven't had to do that here.

CordeliaScott Thu 13-Feb-14 15:11:32

beckworth my GP told me that you only see him where you have existing conditions or medications to check, otherwise midwife all the way.

waybuloony I did the blow in a tube test but assumed that was because I was a former smoker

beckworth Thu 13-Feb-14 15:46:39

No blow in the tube test for me.

I don't even think it's regional variations, as my friend who is at a different surgery in the same town did see her GP. Maybe she just didn't tell the receptionist what the appointment was for.

rockin20s Thu 13-Feb-14 15:57:14

i did see my doctor at about 5 weeks but no blow test and no pregnancy test she took my work for it.

she filed out a few forms and asked me about family history and is was over in about 5 mins!

saw midwife at about 8 weeks and she took a more in depth family history but it was again more paperwork.

im looking forward to the 12 week as hopefully the midwife will use the doppler to hear the heartbeat. a few days later i have my 12 week scan too

im haivng some mild cramping this afternoon, just like mild period cramps, there not too bad to annoying, don't want to take any painkillers.

Lottiedoubtie Thu 13-Feb-14 16:13:23

Do you have a 12 week midwife appointment Rockin? My MW 's said at booking in the next appt was 18 weeks!

Daytona79 Thu 13-Feb-14 16:40:23

I had to do the C02 blow test, my husband did it too. It's just to check you don't have to much co2 in your blood

From environmental factors, passive smoking or smoking

I got a whole pack to take away including a large baby book called Ready, Steady , baby which is made by the NHS

There is also a APP for your phone called the same

Ready, steady,baby

Be heading off for my private early scan soon, my husband is offshore, god I hope I have good news and not bad for him

xxmissbrightsidexx Thu 13-Feb-14 16:57:17

waybulooby I was made to do the carbon monoxide test even though I don't smoke lol xx

xxmissbrightsidexx Thu 13-Feb-14 16:57:43

rockin20s Thu 13-Feb-14 17:12:51

im in a homebirth scheme in Ireland so it may be slightly different, i have a midwife appointment every month but will never see the doctor (unless i need bloods or medicine), the midwife will do everything else

broodylicious Thu 13-Feb-14 17:52:39

I haven't had to do a blow test here. How odd! Don't know if any of my friends with babies/bumps have either.

We see mw at 8-10 weeks for booking in, then again at 16 weeks to take bloods for screening and general check up. Scan at hospital at 12 weeks, including the test for downs. Mw doesn't check for heartbeat with a Doppler until 20 something (26?) week appt because I think I remember her saying that before then it can trickier for them so could cause mums concern when there's no need (this is why I haven't been tempted to buy a home Doppler as I know it'd freak me out stupidly if I couldn't find it myself!)

LH1981 Thu 13-Feb-14 18:28:00

Ugh I am sooo fed up of feeling sick. It's starting to wear me down. The only thing I can eat in the evening is boiled new potatoes with salt.

Good news though, the hospital are allowing me to have a home birth, all being well. Midwife coming to see me on 1st April.

BTW, has anyone seen the news saying about contaminated produce due to the flooding? Best not to eat raw veg etc as of summer. Not sure how much is scaremongering.

topmammy Thu 13-Feb-14 18:36:56

No blow test here either. How odd how different booking appts are.

Hope that's not true about raw veg LH as I was planning on eating lots of salads in the Summer to keep the weight off! Really is awful all this flooding. Where I live on the east coast has really been lucky compared to what seems like almost all of the rest of the country!

broodylicious Thu 13-Feb-14 19:36:10

Flooding is awful isn't it? We seem to have escaped the worst here in the East Midlands but the wind has been ruthless. Sounded as though our double glazing was going to cave in the other night!! Hope those of you with horses are doing ok - remember it's no fun in this type of weather!

Missingcaffeine Thu 13-Feb-14 20:09:25

So today I got sent home from work. I'm the team lead, so it's my job to co-ordinate a very large and busy team and sort out problems (normally a pressure I kinda enjoy in a weird kinda way) but today I just couldn't cope with the problems and had this rage - not helped by the headache and nausea I had today. I snapped at someone inappropriately then realised I was clearly not coping and went for some fresh air and ended up sobbing on the fire-exit stairs in the cold and calling my boss on the phone who came to find me and sent me home. Cried the whole way home - partly with embarrassment for being so pathetic and because I know the whole team will know I was crying as I had to pop in to get my belongings and they are a bunch of gossips (in a nice way). Two have already contacted me to see if I'm alright - one was the person I snapped at who sent me an apology email for harassing me with problems, and the other as they heard I was upset!!!!). I think I'm just really tired, as I work really long shifts.

This is so not me! Luckily the boss was very understanding (I've told her).

My travel sickness wrist bands arrived today - so I popped them on after getting home from work, slept for 4 hours, and sadly still feel sick, but they are possibly easing it. Too early to tell.

Daytona79 Thu 13-Feb-14 20:51:42

Well just back from early scan

Baby fine, seen it's heart beat and baby measured 8 weeks 2 days

We thought I was 7 weeks 5 days.

So pleased, will put my mind at rest now at least for a few days

Cindy5389 Thu 13-Feb-14 21:14:14

Had my booking in appt on Tues. Was really excited, but then mw was not impressed when I told her that I have now moved so will be changing doctors after the appt. (It was her mw team that told me to have the appt at my old doctors so I get a scan date on time.) Then I said I brought a wee sample and she said that I didn't need to bring one.. I'm kind of glad I'm changing mw to b honest. She didn't really give me any information, just took bloods and filled in a few forms. Then she said she couldn't fill everything in coz she won't b my final mw.. Rant over sorry, just been feeling down about it.. Looking forward to hopefully getting a scan date in the post soon.

Missingcaffeine Thu 13-Feb-14 21:21:00

That's great new Daytona

broodylicious Thu 13-Feb-14 21:48:12

cindy I never had total faith in my mw. Got the same this time as last. At my booking appt the other week, she was just rattling thru, hardly looked at me...drove me mad. Yes I've done it before but this is still a pregnancy and still a baby!! I mentioned about some pains I had and she said "welcome to pregnancy" Wasn't happy!

Let's hope you get a better one when you change! smile

Lottiedoubtie Thu 13-Feb-14 22:23:10

Thanks for the appointments info, I find it vaguely reassuring to know what the schedule might be!

Great news Daytona

And don't feel bad missing I've been off work for awhile now, just can't hold it together! or stop puking keep telling myself it's ok that 'normal" rules don't apply anymore!

Fairypants Fri 14-Feb-14 07:38:00

Glad the scan went well Daytona. I hope everyone else is doing well.
I've just actually thrown up for the first time in this pregnancy- at 9 weeks! Tbh I feel much better than other days where the nausea is bad so it isn't a problem (yet) just a bit of a shock really.
DH woke me up with valentines prezzies. smile Some posh chocs (I'm a chocolate snob) and maternity clothes. grin I've been saying that I'm going to need pjs so he got a pair and also a logo t-shirt for the awkward period where people don't know I'd you're fat or pregnant.
It's not a traditional valentines present but I like it.

Kt1991 Fri 14-Feb-14 09:26:57

Morning everyone, glad your scan went well daytona, I have my scan date through! 26/02! So counting down these next 2 weeks now! Feel like the only one on here who hasn't had any kind of scan yet though! I don't really feel pregnant today :/ starting to really get worried and nervous that something is wrong. Hate this worry with pregnancy in gone early weeks!

rockin20s Fri 14-Feb-14 09:36:13

great news daytona

I spent the night baking really nice cookies for Dh, he better like them!

whiteblossom Fri 14-Feb-14 10:07:11

Morning all, well after having 3.5 good days the ms got me with a sledge hammer yesterday evening. I had to go to my ds parents evening. I heaved all the way there then when I finally made it to a very didy toilet, threw up with such force I pulled a musle in my shoulder and erm ahem a little bit of wee escaped blush my eyes were streaming down my cheeks.

I finally slept all night (bar the usual wee) but felt so ill in the night and I woke this morning really dizy, I had to hold on to walls, worktops. Anyone know what that's about? Its eased off now thank god its a bit scary!

Ive kinda hit a wall now, Ive had enough of feeling ill and not well enough to do anything and having to hide it.

WishUponAStar88 Fri 14-Feb-14 10:57:55

Hi all smile exciting news about all the heartbeats on early scans! Has anyone paid for a private one or all NHS? I'm tempted to pay for one as 12 weeks seems so far away!!

I saw my midwife this week who was absolutely lovely, think I'm very lucky compared to some of you ladies! She said I'd have to do the carbon monoxide test at some point (she might've said 18 weeks?) even though I've never smoked just to be sure.

I'm also struggling to hide it - drove to a work function on Saturday for the first time ever so I think a few people have guessed but were too polite to ask! Nausea has also progressed to full blown ms but it is just the mornings currently so I'm grateful for that! X

rockin20s Fri 14-Feb-14 11:17:19

for anyone struggling to hide the bump i have started to use a hair bobble on my pants button. they fit fine while i am standing but i have a desk job, sitting for 8 hours in tight pants is no longer an option, i have found that if i dont use the hair bobble then i get cramps in the afternoon.

so hair bobble and long tops to the rescue!!

Lottiedoubtie Fri 14-Feb-14 11:22:49

whiteblossom Much sympathy and empathy here. Trust me you aren't the only one feeling like this! I don't know what causes the dizziness either but it's horrible isn't it?

I just have to keep forcing myself to believe that it won't last forever and clinging on to normality.

That said- do see your doctor they may be able to shed more light than me!

RhubarbCrumble1 Fri 14-Feb-14 11:27:19

Don't be offended if you are asked to blow in tube. In the area I work The carbon monoxide test picked up dangerously high levels of carbon monoxide levels in a non smoking pregnant woman and was discovered she had a faulty gas fire in rented accommodation. Possibly prevented the death of her and whole family x

boldandbeautiful Fri 14-Feb-14 13:16:14

May I join? I am according to scan, 9+3 today.
This is my second baby and my son is just 9months.
I have had a very hard couple of weeks as I had to go cold turkey from breastfeeding him and it wiped me out though am ok now.
Thanks all

xxmissbrightsidexx Fri 14-Feb-14 13:17:35

Happy valentines day ladies thanks xx

Received a,consultant appointment through the post today, it's in April. Now just waiting for 12week scan to come through xx

broodylicious Fri 14-Feb-14 13:20:00

kt I'm exactly the same - I haven't had a scan yet (still no date and I'm 10weeks today) and I absolutely do not feel even the slightest bit pregnant right now. Not even bloated anymore. I'm so worried. What will be will be though....

broodylicious Fri 14-Feb-14 13:21:42

Welcome bold xx don't envy you with the cold Turkey breastfeeding situation. My 22 m o is not giving up for love nor money!

KatharineClover Fri 14-Feb-14 15:28:45

whiteblosson and Lottie dizziness could be low blood pressure which is common first trimester - get up slowly, eat little and often. Sorry to hear you've been so sick x
I've got my scan date through -10th March (12+5 by midwife's sums, 13wks by my dates which I think are more accurate as I know when I ovulated. 3 1/2 weeks to wait -arrghhh! I'm also losing symptoms - feeling less sick etc. Trying to be optimistic. smile

BooSurprise Fri 14-Feb-14 15:47:38

My constant nausea has been replaced by heartburn, I've had it fairly badly through my last 2 pregnancies so I'm not surprised, but it would have been nice to have a couple of days respite, not straight from one to the other.
Scan finally 2 weeks today, and then I can start to think how I might break the news to work, that I am returning from mat leave pregnant, I'm sure it's not that uncommon, but I'm not sure they are going to be particularly pleased!

Lottiedoubtie Fri 14-Feb-14 16:11:21

katharine you could be right, I've had low blood pressure before and my balance is off at the moment as well.

So far today I have done precisely nothing except throw up and eat (and only because the throwing up is worse if I don't eat).

waybuloony Fri 14-Feb-14 16:45:00

Well just had my 12 week scan...awww it was lovely!
The fabulous sonographer kindly let my DH and two DS in once she'd taken the measurements so it was a great way to tell (or rather show) the children the news. The older one was so excited he told everyone else in the waiting room, cafe, at the bus stop and on the bus on the way home! Bless!
Now I can start to tell people - hooray! Though strangely I feel a little silly telling my parents - it's as though they expected us to stop at two so somehow feel a bit naughty that we're having a third...
Oh, and due date a little later than originally thought - it's 3rd Sep.

Lottiedoubtie Fri 14-Feb-14 16:51:24

Aw congratulations! Lovely news. smile

BexBoo12 Fri 14-Feb-14 16:54:48

Kt, my scan is also 26th!!! grin

CumbrianExile Fri 14-Feb-14 17:29:44

KT I havent had a scan yet either, but luckily only have to wait until Tuesday. Its going to be a long weekend!

Way great news about the scan. But I don't think you will get a chance to tell anyone the way your eldest is going grin

Cindy5389 Fri 14-Feb-14 18:10:15

I was told a similar story when I did my carbon monoxide test at my appt. Lady and husband both non-smokers showed up high and found a fault with the heating.. Glad u have had ur 12 week scan waybuloony and everything went well. R u the first person to have a 12 week scan on here? I have officially outgrown my trousers at work. I also have a desk job like rockin20s. Good job I have just ordered maternity trousers from New Look. Pick them up tomorrow. I hope they look ok. (I tried wearing a bigger size trousers at work last week, but everyone kept asking if I had lost weight - felt more akward than if they had said I'm putting on weight). I have definately got a slight bump now. Good job I have been able to keep my works fleece on all the time, which covers it.

broodylicious Fri 14-Feb-14 19:57:01

It's remarkable isn't it about this carbon monoxide stuff? I just assumed most people have a carbon monoxide reader these days - ours cost about £15 and we have it not far from where the boiler is, it flashes to let you know it's working and beeps if it picks up any nasties. It's v reassuring. Maybe we just have one because my dad is a heating engineer wink

Lottiedoubtie Fri 14-Feb-14 19:59:07

No heating engineers here and we have a detector. I still think it's a smokers test to be completely honest!

LH1981 Fri 14-Feb-14 20:20:12

Hi Ladies,

waybuloony that's great news, so pleased for you! smile
katharine mine is the 11th March so we must have similar due dates?

I think the ms may be a little better today as haven't felt too bad and even made it into town to get a new pair of wellies!

And I've become addicted to bruschetta - had it for lunch and dinner. Slice of warm bruschetta, topped with avocado, fresh tomatoes, finely diced red onion and mozerella with a yummy drizzle of balsalmic glaze. Yum Yum!
And someone mentioned about orange lollies - well, went and got some and it really helps with the nausea! xx

KatharineClover Fri 14-Feb-14 20:32:19

LH1981 that sounds so tasty! My taste buds have gone into full student mode - crisps and pop tarts! I have bought pineapple and strawberries to try to be more healthy smile My due date is 15th -17th March (I have short cycles, but mw has put me down as 17th, I think 15th!)
DH made me cry happy tears today as he got me a beautiful pregnancy and newborn diary smile

broodylicious Fri 14-Feb-14 20:42:31

LH yay! Glad the lollies work for you too. Honestly, they made me feel so much better when I had ms. I saw someone else here had discovered sorbet and I imagine that'd be similar to the calippo effect smile Pretzels seemed to settle me too, think it's the salt.

broodylicious Sat 15-Feb-14 06:50:35

Ok ladies, I'm getting myself into a tizz. I've no more symptoms - ms, dizziness, nausea, sore boobs all gone - and am worried. Don't even feel pregnant. With dd, I was sick as a dog til 16-18 weeks so I'm comparing it with that I guess. Maybe it's cos we've had mmc and mc on this thread and it's making me paranoid. But even so, I'm shit scared.
Do any of you no longer have symptoms? Sounds as though many of you are still really struggling w
