DoctorDonnaNoble Wed 20-Nov-13 17:38:05

Thankyou :D

talulahbelle Wed 20-Nov-13 17:42:33

Morning sickness should be renamed all day sickness. It's definitely not limited to the start of the day. I am constantly craving white salty carbs, just devoured a cone of chips.

BlueC2 Wed 20-Nov-13 17:52:43

Hello shiny new thread smile

talulah I had chips on Monday...yummy....well as yummy as anything can taste with this constant nagging feeling as if you're about to puke??? So trying not to think about the fact that I'm only 6+1 and that the nausea lasted until 15 weeks last time sad and that it actually got worse around week 10-11 which will be bang on Christmas when we'll be hosting the whole of my family...prearranged before we knew I was pregnant!

And so I haven't finished my work so somehow got to find the energy to do some tonight as the midwife is coming in the morning for my booking appointment which will lose me part of my day when DS is with the childminder...

But...let's try and be positive...feeling this grim IS a GOOD SIGN for little bean as it means the hormones are nice and strong!

teaandkittens Wed 20-Nov-13 17:58:34

Hi! I just got a bfp yesterday! Think I'm due around 21st July but haven't had anything confirmed yet.
This is my first pregnancy and I'm terrified! Can I join your club?

Littleangel21 Wed 20-Nov-13 18:20:00

Wow.... We really can talk!

Hope you're all well, I'm in my pjs and looking forward to bed!

Xx

Littleangel21 Wed 20-Nov-13 18:23:16

Welcome tea and kittens!

My first too and I'm full of nerves.... Look forward to hearing from you ! Xx

DoctorDonnaNoble Wed 20-Nov-13 18:41:43

My first and I'm hugely nervous - it appears to be turning me into a mumtobezilla. But it's giving the skills to get past the 'no appointments for ages' receptionist at my surgery. With a little bit of persistence they suddenly seem to be able to find an earlier appointment. Most odd.

AuntieMaggie Wed 20-Nov-13 18:45:14

Really feeling the cold tonight but in a better mood. Am wrapped up in a blanket on the sofa - its too cold to change into my pjs

DoctorDonnaNoble Wed 20-Nov-13 18:46:09

If you're feeling the cold I recommend the fluffy bed socks they sell at M and S - most cosy.

Howly Wed 20-Nov-13 18:50:31

My first as well! Booked first doctors appointment for next Wednesday, exciting stuff!

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs Wed 20-Nov-13 18:59:58

Evening ladies! I just had to share - we went for our first scan today, 6+3, it had to be transvaginal which wasn't exactly fun, but I have to say it was worth it to see the fetus and a strong heartrate of 126bpm! A word of warning if you're planning an early scan and, like me, are a first timer. The fetus is tiny and almost impossible to make out. But hearing (and seeing!) the heart beat was an extraordinary experience. Has anyone else had a scan yet?

DoctorDonnaNoble Wed 20-Nov-13 19:01:51

Did you get that scan on the NHS? I can't wait to have a scan but I haven't even had my 'booking in' appointment yet. I think healthcare professionals forget how nerve wracking it is for us first timers.

DinkyMole Wed 20-Nov-13 19:13:36

Aww how lovely about the scan!

Love this bus being so busy smile Tried to ring my docs earlier but they close on Wednesday afternoons. My LMP gives me an EDD but my ov date gives me 1st August so I'm going to fib about my LMP date as I don't want them harassing me for induction if I go "overdue".

Just did another IC this evening and the line has come up well (12dpo and been drinking all day) so might do the digi tomorrow. smile

DinkyMole Wed 20-Nov-13 19:16:43

Bus, ha, can you tell BFP hasn't sunk in yet?

Littleangel21 Wed 20-Nov-13 19:16:53

How lovely that you heard the heart beat. I would absolutely love that.

Glad all is well xx

DoctorDonnaNoble Wed 20-Nov-13 19:24:27

Right ladies, I need your help. It's looking that I might not have a scan before Christmas (my mum has offered to pay for a private one so we'll see). Even if I have had my scan by then I probably wont want to tell acquaintances until the New Year. If it even raises itself as an issue. And herein lies the problem. Me and DH are off on holiday over Christmas. On a coach tour to Belgium. It's called 'Beer and battlefields' and involves several brewery tours! What's the best excuse I give for not drinking at all!!! hmm

Ipsumlorem Wed 20-Nov-13 19:30:11

Just adding a quick post as I am still feeling mega rough and vomity sad

Hi to all the newbies smile

Just wanted to share my excitement at receiving my booking in appointment and first scan date today - the 21st of december -which is exciting but scary at the same time as so close to xmas - if something was wrong not a nice time to find out, though I suppose thinking about it there wouldn't be a good time. Must keep thinking positive.

My morning sickness is ridiculous - all day and night now too like its getting worse. I have been able to keep small amounts of food down and water as I'm drinking pints and pints but I'm vomiting about 15 to 20 times a day - not severely but still enough to keep me working at home sad Does anyone know - would my gp give me anything to stop the vomiting despite me not being dehydrated etc? I literally have to drink all day as I throw half of it up again.

Ipsumlorem Wed 20-Nov-13 19:33:04

doctor - celebrity inspired pre xmas detox? grin

DoctorDonnaNoble Wed 20-Nov-13 19:34:54

Hmm - not very me (hate celebrity culture) and that would mean not eating Belgian chocolate!
As for sickness, if it was that extreme I would mention to the doctor. They can prescribe anti-emetics.

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs Wed 20-Nov-13 19:40:54

Hello again, doctor we went private. I know it's silly but it's the first time I've ever been pregnant and I desperately wanted to ensure everything was alright. I have an initial appointment with my GP next week and so will have my 12 week scan (think it's so lovely that we'll all be scanned around Christmas!) on the NHS but I've also booked other private scans at 8 and 10 weeks. The sonographer told me that seeing a heartbeat at this point means the chance of miscarriage is halved but I rather foolishly read too much about it and now can't bear the idea of a six week wait to ensure all is fine.

And on the idea of avoiding booze, I suggest pleading travel sickness as an excuse!

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs Wed 20-Nov-13 19:42:02

Hmm, apologies DoctorDonnaNoble, I'm posting from my phone and don't know how to make this bold...

coco808 Wed 20-Nov-13 19:45:17

doctordonna you could say you were on antibiotics smile

DoctorDonnaNoble Wed 20-Nov-13 19:49:20

Antibiotics could work - would cover any sickness as well! Think I'm going to discuss the private scan thing with DH when he gets in from the gym.

coco808 Wed 20-Nov-13 19:49:55

this is my first time so I don't know, but could anyone please tell me their nausea experience during their previous pregnancies? I want to know when was it worse for you? Theoretically, the HCG hormone that causes n & v peaks at week 8, then starts to tail down from week 9-10 and disappears betweeen week 12-14. That means nausea should peak week 8-9 and then get better. Did anyone find that to be the case?
I'm feeling really rough at work and need an end point in my mind to be able to cope with it. My job involves performing minor surgeries and I need to keep my wits about me...

Littleangel21 Wed 20-Nov-13 19:50:10

Say you're on metronidazole- you CANNOT drink on them. You get them for dental related infections.

That's what I'm saying anyway! X

MargeryDaw Wed 20-Nov-13 20:09:11

Hi, I was on the old thread. Seeing my doctor on Saturday - I'm around 6 weeks. Still not much in the way of symptoms other than tiredness and hot and cold flashes but didn't get anything with my DS until around week 8.

I didn't say much on the last thread so thought I'd add my little update!

Blueberry234 Wed 20-Nov-13 20:18:38

I have my viability scan tomorrow I am so nervous

DoctorDonnaNoble Wed 20-Nov-13 20:22:50

good luck

BlueC2 Wed 20-Nov-13 20:32:30

coco on the nausea...last time I felt the same as I do now...constant feeling of nausea, no actual sickness, until maybe week 9-10 ish when we went to New York for a long weekend for a wedding...now I don't know if the resulting tiredness from jet lag made things worse or whether It was just the hormones but my nausea peaked after that and I was actually sick a few times. It all finally left around week 14 or 15 I think...I must say that at the moment I can hardly bare the thought of another 8 weeks of feeling like this or the possibility it may get worse before it gets better...and I'm not even being sick yet! But even just trying to look after DS and work is proving v difficult at the moment. So grateful he is at the childminders tomorrow, though it then feel guilty for feeling like that!

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy Wed 20-Nov-13 20:32:37

DoctorDonna is the tour with people you know? Can you get away with saying you don't like beer?!

Blueberry thinking of you and your scan tomorrow.

coco in my last pregnancy the nausea really improved after about 12 weeks. I hope it does this time. I don't want to feel like this to much longer.

Froglet88 Wed 20-Nov-13 20:42:02

baggyoldcow lovely to meet someone who shares a due date with me!! Congratulations! Seeing as your on your fourth and Im a novice at this I will have lots of questions for you! smile

TheBookofRuth Wed 20-Nov-13 21:02:33

Hello again. My due date is 29th July - I did say in the last thread but sort of got lost in the crowd.

All being well, this will be my 2nd DC - I have a DD who will be 2.6 when her brother or sister arrives. So far I'm not really having many symptoms - tired, bit of back pain and nausea - but my last pregnancy was such a long, uncomfortable slog that I'm trying to ignore it for as long as possible!

tannyLoo72 Wed 20-Nov-13 21:12:05

Spinning look forward to hearing about your next bfp smile

coco very sorry. With my first I was physically sick from 6 to 25 weeks, vomming between one and ten times a day. My second one was better and I had nausea between 4 and 14 weeks with not so much vom. The second one was helped by being more relaxed, resting more and eating small amounts often.

Both babies were stonkingly bonnie and healthy.

I can't wait to feel that sick again, as I have never felt like that with any I've MC'd!

If it gets bad, I suggest a visit to your gp, who should be able to help.

tannyLoo72 Wed 20-Nov-13 21:15:11

Froglet and baggy I think mine is also the 24th, but will not be thinking that far ahead!

Happy to symptom check etc though! grin

jaykay987 Wed 20-Nov-13 21:17:17

I'm just catching up and marking my place on the new thread.

Ummmm....chips! smile

coco808 Wed 20-Nov-13 21:29:49

Thank you blue fox and tanny smile
I feel bad for moaning, should be just grateful nothing has gone wrong yet. What is nausea and vomiting compared to what some people are coping through!
Positive thinking....we will all feel great around Christmas grin....with our scans done, starting second trimester and feeling better and more relaxed....bring on Christmas!

Hi everyone, got my BFP on Monday. Due 26 July. I have a 19 month-old DD and we live in the US (we're Brits though).

My main symptoms are sore boobs (hating wearing a bra) and mild nausea.

Looking forward to getting to know you all.

Dinky I would just give them your LMP date, as your due date will change when you have the dating scan!

Ipsum I think you can get anti-sickness tablets from the doctor

Lauranne Wed 20-Nov-13 22:13:15

Hi everyone,
Just checking in, apologies haven't read the thread yet, am suffering with dreadful nausea, random vomiting, low blood pressure and as a result delightful fainting moments. I feel like someone from a 1920s film. Am welcoming the worsening symptoms as it means things are progressing as they should but man alive I feel (and look!) crap! I have my first scan on Sunday, we decided to book a private one, midwife booking in isn't till 6th and doubtful I will get a scan before Xmas so just reassurance really. Hope you are all doing well x

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Wed 20-Nov-13 22:36:17

Froglet88 Wed 20-Nov-13 23:04:41

Great to have another pal on board for the 24th tanny! How are you feeling? I've got super sore pneumatic boobs and am very tired but otherwise doing well.

Hey Froglet I'm doing quite well for symptoms, except when they completely disappear, which scares the bejesus out of me! Symptoms include tiredness, insomnia, sore boobs, nausea, cramps and back ache.

I have 2 DCs and have had 3 MCs in the last year, so am a bit jumpy.

Good to have EDD buddies grin

lemonpoppyseed Thu 21-Nov-13 01:19:26

Ooh, new thread!

jaykay987 Thu 21-Nov-13 05:59:21

Good morning.

So I had an embarrassing episode yesterday.
After commuting to London, surviving a day in the office and managing to get away with "vodka" and lemonade in the bar plus successfully sneaking out of drinks after 40mins I caught the train home.

I had presumed I would find it hard as Id got up almost two hours early plus drinks were scheduled when Ive previously been in bed for the night!

I needed the loo, and started to get desperate. By the time i thought i should go find the train toilet i had such bad stomach cramps i didnt think i could walk through the crowded train. So i had to wait til i got home. Only, the train got really delayed. By the time I got home I was having shooting pains across my stomach every ,minute or so. At one point id almost convinced myself it was braxton hicks! I have never had such "need a wee" or trapped wind pains!
I presume the fizzy lemonade disagreed with me? That plus the combo of needing the loo meant my stomach couldn't cope?
Anyone had anything similar? It shocked me how uncomfortable I was in such a short period of time.

I have my booking in tomorrow - which Im looking forward to. It was booked ages ago - so exciting its here soon!

How's everyone else?

DoctorDonnaNoble Thu 21-Nov-13 06:19:05

My trip is run by the Campaign for Real Ale and a couple of DH's close friends are going who I've been out drinking with several times are gong to be there -d'oh. So it looks like I will be on 'antibiotics'. Can't wait to stop lying about things!

talulahbelle Thu 21-Nov-13 06:44:21

Anyone else still POAS? I did this morning which gave me a very dark line really quickly. Reassuring. I've woken up this morning very slightly less nauseous, I am going to try and enjoy it. Eating late before I go to bed seems to help.

Howly Thu 21-Nov-13 07:04:12

I'm gonna POAS at the weekend as I've got one left and I wanna make sure I'm still pg!! Sounds silly but I'm still convinced its too good to be true!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday Thu 21-Nov-13 07:09:35

Ooh, shiny new thread. Hope everyone's getting on OK. Occasional extreme periods of nausea here and sore boobs seem to be the main theme of my week, and I'm still sooo tired all the time! Hoping these are all good signs for tomorrow's early scan at 6 weeks and the spotting will turn out to be just one of those things.

I'm going to POAS tomorrow before the scan as a kind of reassurance, I think.

tannyLoo72 Thu 21-Nov-13 07:11:05

Sadly, I POAS every morning!

Wish me luck this morning, I have a recurrent miscarriage gynae appt and am nervous as all hell.

DoctorDonnaNoble Thu 21-Nov-13 07:13:04

Hope it goes well Tanny. I haven't poas since the day after my BFP. And that was mainly because DH was nervous it was a false positive.

DinkyMole Thu 21-Nov-13 07:37:41

Hope your appt goes well tanny smile

I have been POAS but I'm still only 13dpo. I POADigiS today and that came up positive so I'm quite excited this morning grin

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday Thu 21-Nov-13 07:46:35

Good luck Tanny.

LadyGoneGaga Thu 21-Nov-13 07:47:50

Good luck, Tanny!

Jaykay I think you sem to need everything more urgently when pg. If you're hungry, need to eat NOW. If need a wee, has to be that minute. And so on. Not nice being stuck on a train though.

I've been a bit quiet lately as feeling really bad with the nausea and tiredness and banging headaches. Went to bed at 8:30 last night just to give me some respite from feeling sick. 9 weeks today and really hoping I am getting to the peak and will start to come out of the other side soon! It's definitely good and reassuring that I feel this bad but I am so glad I never have to go through this bit of pregnancy ever again! I really think it's the worst bit.

snowpink Thu 21-Nov-13 07:56:20

God what a chatty bunch! I tested positive last week, this will be my third child. Kind of unplanned but very welcome although I'm scared out of my wits! I have no symptoms whatsoever, a bit of gagging a couple of days ago, but I'm hoping it's too early for that, not even 6 weeks yet.

This is also my first baby in Germany, I had my others in the UK, so I have to get used to a whole new system. My first scan is on 27.11. When I'm 6+4 and I'm hoping at least for a yolk sac in the right place fingers crossed.

Argh I just hate the first 12 weeks so I'm hoping for a lot of distraction here to make time go faster!

Littleangel21 Thu 21-Nov-13 08:00:36

Hi ladies, I was told to stop wasting money of tests as a positive can remain positive for 2-6 weeks even if you are no longer pregnant. Best to go on your symptoms x

BlueC2 Thu 21-Nov-13 08:06:20

Morning all

tanny hope your appointment goes well
zing how is your DS?

And in blueland the nauseaus feeling lasted all through the night and the retching has started smile oh the joys! Roll on the new year and second trimester please!

MrsA2 Thu 21-Nov-13 08:11:12

Morning all, wow lots going on here. Tanny thinking of you and Jaykay that sounds awful but glad you got through the day ok.

I had my booking in apt yesterday, got my Bounty pack and loads of leaflets from the hospital. Decided I'll read the relevant ones now but some of the others about labour and post birth I'll leave for a bit otherwise I'll forget the important bits!

My community midwife was really lovely, so that's reassuring. My blood pressure was quite low which I guess explains my lightheadedness. And I seemingly have rubbish little veins so getting enough blood was a pain!

MrsA2 Thu 21-Nov-13 08:12:13

Blue2C it sounds like you are having a rough time of it - hope you are over the worst soon

snowpink Thu 21-Nov-13 08:17:02

Littleangel, that's good to know about the pregnancy tests, I was tempted to get another one on Monday which would be my sixth...

PicnicPie Thu 21-Nov-13 09:23:20

Morning all, just checking in on the new thread.

Good luck tanny hope all goes well.

I've got my GP appt at 10am which is the pre requisite to the booking in appt with MW.

Im with you blue. Have started getting a lot more nauseous throughout the day an night. A slice of toast seems to help.

Hope everyone has a good day.

jaykay987 Thu 21-Nov-13 09:29:06

mrsa2 what happened at your booking in? How long were you there?

Mine's tomorrow and I have no idea what to expect.
My early scan puts me at 7w+5 but my mw thinks I'm 9w+3 based on lmp. Anyone know if she'll take the early scan details? or will she ignore it as it not been done at her hospital?

I've tried to get some medical history off DH so I have that info as he won't be there. Anything else I need?

Pearlsaplenty Thu 21-Nov-13 09:50:16

Yay new thread smile

Good luck today tanny

I've got my follow up monitoring scan today, so a little panicy.

elliejjtiny Thu 21-Nov-13 09:57:24

Good luck with your booking in jaykay. Can't think of anything else you'd need although if you have questions you might want to write them down beforehand so you don't forget.

BlueC2 Thu 21-Nov-13 10:03:13

So I rushed around like a crazy thing, battled nightmare traffic to get DS to the childminders and got home with 2mins to spare before midwife was due to arrive...and then reread the letter and saw the appointment was Thursday 19th December...not sure how I thought that was today blush so now exhausted and fed up as was looking forward to getting booked in. Still no news on early scan either...can see us trying to find the money for a private one at this rate. Grrr

MargeryDaw Thu 21-Nov-13 11:09:00

JayKay - the dating scan is the key one for giving you your weeks. I had long cycles before my first and worried about them taking my LMP date but it all got correctly adjusted back at the dating scan

Blueberry234 Thu 21-Nov-13 11:36:28

Scan all good about 6w4d and a strong heartbeat seen, fingers crossed the next one is ok!

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs Thu 21-Nov-13 11:56:10

Good luck tanny and pearls! Let us know how it goes!

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs Thu 21-Nov-13 11:56:53

Congratulations Blueberry!

SmallOlympianBear Thu 21-Nov-13 11:57:30

Great news Blueberry! Good luck with your appointment Tanny and how's your DS, Zing?

Meh, had my booking in appointment. Midwife was being extra nice so she definitely remembered. Not up to date on some of the latest advice (NHS says Stilton ok, hurray!) but hey ho.

On my way to London for a meeting and feel grim. Have nappy bags at the ready in case of sudden vomiting, groan!

SmallOlympianBear Thu 21-Nov-13 11:58:30

Good luck Pearls

jaykay987 Thu 21-Nov-13 13:16:37

that's great blueberry

how are the other appointments going today? (there seems to be lots going on today!)

ahh blue that must be so frustrating! I'd probably have cried in a crumpled messed!

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Thu 21-Nov-13 13:23:41

thanks for all who asked - DS2 is doing ok.
stuffed with painkillers, but happy as he is spoilt with donuts and milkshake! grin

had app with GP today - she's a new doctor and sooooo lovely - so it's official and hopefully I get the dates for MW and scan soon.

I have to say certain smells started to bother me now - chaning nappies is the worst.

good luck with various things!

liquidstate Thu 21-Nov-13 13:35:47

Well I have been signed off sick for a week due to the nausea. Have pulled muscles in my tummy due to the wretching. I have the anti sickness tablets but threw the first one up! Fingers crossed they work.

Have been very faddy with food so not cravings as such. Just had a BBQ chicken pizza for breakfast. very unhealthy, but am finding I cannot face fruit and veg.

MW appointment next week, Will make a decision after that as to whether I book in for a private scan or not. I was told only to bring my NHS no. to the MW appointment, do I need to wee in a pot as well?

BlueC2 Thu 21-Nov-13 13:47:38

jaykay yes pretty much did do that! Have managed to put my frustration to good use though and after ringing 5 different numbers at the hospital i have tracked down my early scan which is on 2nd Dec smile so at least I have that to look forward to now that I have to wait another whole month for my booking app

zing so glad your DS is doing ok
blueberry great news on your scan
liquid hope the meds kick in and make a difference v soon!

Right, back to work - have moved all my stuff onto the dining table so I can look out the window at the trees whilst I work daydream about not feeling sick

DoctorDonnaNoble Thu 21-Nov-13 14:15:52

Just called my doctor to confirm that my appointment with doctor next week was a booking in appointment as surely that would be longer. Called. Yes, they knew it was booking in appointment. Nope, just 10 minutes, that's all he'll need. He just fills in some forms and gives me some stuff and sends me on my way to queue up at a completely different site for my blood tests etc. I mentioned that everything had led me to believe that booking in would take around half an hour and I was then assured I wouldn't feel rushed (in 10 minutes!)>
Is it too late to change surgeries??!!

LadyGoneGaga Thu 21-Nov-13 14:38:13

Can't you just book in with the midwife at 9 or 10 weeks like they suggested originally, DoctorDonna? As mentioned the GP's are not specialist in this. You need plenty of time to talk through all of your concerns, medical history, preferences for the birth etc. I just don't think it's worth doing with the GP. It sounds like they are humouring you to get you to go away to be honest. Your booking appt really is your opportunity to talk about everything properly as all of the other appointments tend to be a really quick 5 mins, check BP and wee and baby's position and heartbeat and get you out of the door.

DoctorDonnaNoble Thu 21-Nov-13 14:50:34

The doctor is seeing 3 other people for the same that day. They aren't just humouring me - it seems at my surgery the community midwife's appointments are only 10 minutes as well, she also doesn't do the blood tests etc.
Everything I have read led me to believe the booking in appointment should be in the first two months. I understand I may be being hyper-concerned but I have reason to be.

jaykay987 Thu 21-Nov-13 14:57:47

I would see how it goes and then you could always try and book in with your midwife for an appointment in a few weeks when they can see you? As you do have your list of worries - it's probably even more important you get to see a mw and have enough time to talk.

In our area the mw tries to book everyone is as close to 10 weeks as possible. Based on my lmp I will be 9w+4 when I go tomorrow (although she's yet to learn my scan measures me at 7w+6).

I saw on the June thread this morning, one lady has been told its a 90 min appointment, and another 2 hours!
Can you share any of your more generic (not your specific health worries) questions you want answered?
The only question I can think of right now is - can I get a flu jab. I don't want to walk out of the appointment and think of loads of questions I won't get answered for months?

roozocheeks Thu 21-Nov-13 15:57:17

Hi everyone, hope all is well!
I had my booking in apt. today..not much to report back. MW was lovely, went through the mountains of questions then blood pressure, blood tests and pee in a cup!
I have a whole library's worth of leaflets and books to get through now, it's like studying for an exam!

roozocheeks Thu 21-Nov-13 15:59:50

Meant to say MW has given me EDD of 28th june... I was positive its later so might just stay on this bus if that's ok?!?

Collie1806 Thu 21-Nov-13 16:02:49

Hi all,
Can I be added to the list please? I'm due July 5th!
Good luck with the pregnancies everyone x

NancyinCali Thu 21-Nov-13 16:39:27

Thanks for adding me to the list MrsB. My goodness you're a chatty bunch which is lovely but I'm 8 hours behind you all so I can't catch up!

I made my first appointment with the MW for about 4 weeks time (when I'll be 8 weeks or so). Excited but nervous for the next few weeks. And I'm finding it so hard to keep the news quiet. I remember the weeks between poas and the scan going so slowly last time - mind you I didn't have a toddler to occupy me then.

Came home to my scan appointment. So feeling a little less lost in the system now. It's for the 3rd January. It's annoying that it's after Christmas, but it's before school goes back so I won't need cover for that one.
I'll clearly have to get everything I need before then as you have to bring your stuff with you to the appointment.
Booking a private scan before Christmas so that we can feel better about telling people. Still a little nervous though - my mum had a period while expecting me so was surprised to discover she was a month further along than anyone thought at her dating scan! I could do without that. An EDD of the last week of the summer term is much more convenient.

baggyoldcow Thu 21-Nov-13 17:25:51

The funny thing is, froglet, it's different every time! I'm really knackered this time, sleeping fairly well - every last one I had dreadful insomnia from the start. But happy to try (to answer) smile

Tanny, I know the feeling. It's rather hard to imagine. I had to POAS again today (after a week of restraint!) just to double-check.

So sorry Pigs be kind to yourself thanks

MrsA2 Thu 21-Nov-13 18:30:14

Really sorry to see your update Pigs, take care of yourself.

Jaykay my booking in apt was about 45 mins. There's lots of paperwork to fill in - any health issues and any with close family, height, weight. Blood taken (three vials for me but only one needle) for various tests and had to see in a pot. It was a nightmare getting enough blood from my rubbish veins but apparently drinking plenty of water before makes it easier.

We briefly discussed the birth options - labour ward, birth centre, home birth - but no need to make any decisions yet. Recapped banned foods, said a couple of units of alcohol is fine but ideally not in the first trimester and she checked I didn't smoke (I don't). She also asked about how I'd been feeling and was generally reassuring.

I don't think I learnt anything new but it was so exciting to talk about it all with someone other than my husband (we haven't told anyone yet).

Hope that helps?

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday Thu 21-Nov-13 18:50:11

Sorry, pigs. Look after yourself.

I have a dilemma which I'm hoping collective wisdom can help with! My booking in appointment is for 6 Dec, which is the last day of a contract I've been working on. I've already had to book time away from the office tomorrow because of needing an early scan and they weren't exactly pleased - I've been working late this week and last to make up the hours.

I phoned the hospital to change the date (the letter said you could) and they said the next available slot I could move to was in Jan, after my 12 week scan (which I can't do, obviously).

What would you do? If everything's ok at tomorrow's scan I think I'm going to have to tell my client why I'll need to work a half day on the 6th, but I'd rather not.

This maybe wasn't the best year to become self-employed...

Littleangel21 Thu 21-Nov-13 18:50:22

So sorry pigs. thanksthanks

Froglet88 Thu 21-Nov-13 18:52:11

So sorry Pigs, hope you're ok. Sending you hugs xx

teaandkittens Thu 21-Nov-13 19:00:06

so sorry to hear that pigs thanks

betteronholiday No advice really but I can join you on the bad work timing thing. I'm 5 weeks pg. I started a new job 4 weeks ago. Fucks sake.

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday Thu 21-Nov-13 19:07:04

Oh no, tea, that really is bad timing! I'd be tempted to fiddle my due date when explaining... (Don't know if that's exactly sensible advice...)

jaykay987 Thu 21-Nov-13 19:11:21

pigs
mrsa

always - that is difficult. Is there anyway you can negotiate to finish your contract a day early? (even if it's by agreeing to work the Sunday before)? it's difficult to know without knowing the type of work you do.

if they're really going to make it difficult - could you explain you have an immovable hospital appointment. You're self employed, so they shouldn't be probing for info on what its for if you dont dont want to tell?

teaandkittens Thu 21-Nov-13 19:12:39

haha betteronholiday? that might be a good idea! Although I didn't actually know I was pg until this week and I wasn't actually ttc so they can't be cross, can they??

I was ttc until i got this new job and so decided to wait for a few months. And then it happened accidentally! grin

jaykay987 Thu 21-Nov-13 19:12:51

stupid phone...

I wanted to say so sorry to hear your news pigs.

thanks for the info mrsa

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday Thu 21-Nov-13 19:28:24

Thanks jaykay - that might be a route to go down. I may just have to say I'm working a half day and I'll only charge them for that half day - or offer to make up the work for them another time. It'll work out, I just don't want them to think I'm unreliable as I've really liked working there and they're a nice organisation. Don't really want to say what I do exactly as it might identify me! Ah well.

Have a good eve everyone! I'm in the pub waiting for friends and thinking of excuses for not drinking.

Pearlsaplenty Thu 21-Nov-13 19:31:46

pigs I'm so sorry to hear this flowers sad

alwaysbetter I would just say you have an appointment you cannot change. Can you try to make up your time somehow? Go in early that week? Do some work from home after the appointment?

I had my scan and it's all been resolved so now I'm the same risk as you all. Scan still didn't show much as still so tiny but I'm told I should be reassured that its correct size and heart beat good.

Please could someone add me to the list 29th June smile

LadyGoneGaga Thu 21-Nov-13 19:33:22

Hurray pearls!

Pearlsaplenty Thu 21-Nov-13 19:39:32

Thanks lady we're dd buddies smile

Pearlsaplenty Thu 21-Nov-13 20:05:54

doctor 10 mins doesn't sound enough time at all. Even if they send you somewhere else for bloods. 10 mins is about the time given for just a standard antenatal checkup confused are you not able to get a booking in appointment at the hospital itself? I wouldn't be concerned about not being seen in the first 2 months, mine isn't until week 10 and I've heard some have it on the same day as their 12 week scan (which would actually be quite convenient). But I would be concerned at only having 10 mins. They are meant to do medical history, discuss birth options and classes available, discuss screening choices, weigh you, urine test, blood pressure. Go through brochures. And answer questions. I would've thought 30-45 mins minimum.

jaykay987 Thu 21-Nov-13 20:16:31

Yay pearl! You must be pleased!

Did they change your date? Or is that our original date?

DoctorDonnaNoble Thu 21-Nov-13 20:20:41

re: appointment at hospital - not as far as I know - I'm finding it really hard to get information! I phoned the receptionist for exactly that reason and I went through all this and how everything has led me to believe that a booking in appointment was at least 30 minutes. I'm certainly not going to be bullied out of the surgery if I've still got questions. The receptionist assured me this was how my surgery did it, it would be the same with the community midwife, and that this particular doctor was seeing 3 other women that day as well.
I have had previous concerns with this surgery: admin errors and rubbish asthma care. Hence saying that perhaps I should move GPs.
I know many of you think I'm being ridiculous, but it's my first pregnancy, I don't know how it works and I can't believe how blasé everyone seems to be about it all.
A positive sign, however, was I had the appointment with the doctor on Monday and my letter for my scan came today.

jaykay987 Thu 21-Nov-13 20:26:26

I don't think you sound ridiculous. I think your doctors sound ridiculous! grin

Well...you'll only find out by turning up and seeing how your appointment goes! Good luck with it! grin

Pearlsaplenty Thu 21-Nov-13 20:28:58

doctor yes they moved my date back a couple of days. Yes I would be concerned as well, 10 minutes is not long at all. Have you phoned the hospital directly to find out if you can book in there ? How easy is it for you to change gps?

If you can't do anything about it. Go in with your list of questions and then ask for an additional appointment if you run out of time.

Pearlsaplenty Thu 21-Nov-13 20:31:37

Oops jaykay yes they changed my dd back a couple of days smile

MrsB2013 Thu 21-Nov-13 22:07:06

Oh Pearls that's great news!!

Doctor I think all areas and doctors seem to do things differently. I have my MW appointment on Monday and I was told it would be about an hour, no idea when I'll get my scan date.

I'm getting a cold sad Does anyone know how much Vit C is safe to take in early pregnancy??

ismarah Thu 21-Nov-13 22:28:20

Wow we are a chatty bunch - or rather just full of helpful information, advice and wisdom that must be shared, like cake or bottles of wine...

Someone said about all needs becoming instant, hunger, weeage etc. Really (really!) need to get DH to understand that one. He's very laid back normally, bless him, and I do love it when he does lovely things like make me dinner, but right now when I'm hungry I need feeding or I'll be nauseous again. Which he gets sad at cause I'm suffering! Bless.

Being made to sneakily go and see H&S officer tomorrow. Nothing like being timely with this sort of thing - I told tutor a few weeks ago as soon as I knew (suspecting H&S issues) but now I have like 10 days left! Fingers still crossed I don't vom on the examiners...

museumworker Thu 21-Nov-13 23:09:39

Hi, room for another?
Am pregnant with third, was unplanned so just getting my head round it. Had 3 false negatives after period due date which was wierd, still quite surreal.
Telling doctor tomorrow, will be 7 weeks. DD 12 July.
Symptoms- lot less than last 2 , probably explains why not fully feeling pregnant. V tired (fell asleep on tube today and missed stop!) But constantly knackered with work and kids anyway. Bit nauseous but eating regularly. Main thing is digestion slowed down, feel dreadfully sluggish. Already looking bit podgy! Have cold at the minute too!

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Thu 21-Nov-13 23:27:17

Museum

welcome and congrats! I'll add you to the list tomorrow.

Pearlsaplenty Fri 22-Nov-13 08:31:35

So cross with myself angry

For the last month I've been worried about the baby and now I find out the risk has gone then I start worrying about my weight again.

I wish i could just be grateful and not so selfish. I think I deserve a cloud hanging over me.

Mrsc020987 Fri 22-Nov-13 09:28:28

Well ended up over at hospital last night, sickness has became unbearable and nothing like i was with my dd, so they wanted to check my blood pressure and my pee, all ok thank god but been put on anti sickness meds, praying they work!! Being in the same place where i gave birth only 10 months ago was frightening, as soon as the smell hut me i was back there, i don't no if the fear of the unknown or knowing what to expect is worse!! Haha ive got 7 months to mentally prepare i suppose!

BlueC2 Fri 22-Nov-13 09:47:48

So sorry for those with awful sickness sad my new strategy is to eat myself out of it so this morning have had a bowl of cereal and three pieces of toast blush but finally don't feel quite so sick. Now to get this work finished. Happy Friday everyone!

Pearlsaplenty Fri 22-Nov-13 09:48:49

mrsc oh no! That sounds terrible. I hope the meds work for you flowers

turnwest Fri 22-Nov-13 11:38:56

I m so miserable, what have I done, I struggle to cope with two children how on earth will I manage three? I m having an awful day today. sad

tannyLoo72 Fri 22-Nov-13 11:55:43

Oh turnwest, it's so unfair isn't it sometimes? I'm so miserable as I'm probably about to have my 4th MC, and want nothing more than a 3rd child, and you are feeling overwhelmed at the thought of it!

Please be gentle on yourself, your hormones are probably playing merry hell with your emotions and what you're feeling is really normal.

Hope you start to feel better soon thanks

ChristmasCrackFox Fri 22-Nov-13 11:55:52

Room for a little one?

Such early days - EDD is 30 July but desperately need somewhere to obsess! Can't seem to stop peeing on sticks...I am an hpt loon.

Already have a just turned two year old. Boy, will 'mat leave' be different this time round as a sahm!

Despite my tendency toward the contrary I'm thinking positive and have booked a mw appointment and private scan the day before Christmas Eve so that we can be a bit more confident telling family why I'm not knocking back the prosecco over Christmas.

Lovely to meet you all!

AuntieMaggie Fri 22-Nov-13 12:02:26

Pearls I'm worried about my weight too - Worked hard to get where I am (which is still fat) so I know how you feel. The bonus is I just look my normal fat self rather than pregnant!

Mrsc hope the meds help.

turnwest have you got anyone to talk to in rl?

No sickness here yet just a bit queasy when hungry. I feel really well apart from SAD, worrying about medical complications, changes at work that may mean I lose my job and trying to hide pregnancy until scan.

Turnwest sorry you are feeling sad I'm worried about how i'll cope with one! I'm sure it's hormones making it worse, you will be fine flowers

Jaykay how did your MW appointment go?

I've got a stinking cold sad Got my early scan tomorrow and I'm getting nervous that there wont be anything there, as I still don't have any symptoms other than tiredness and hunger!

Hope everyone else is ok!!

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Fri 22-Nov-13 12:59:00

pearls

I'm really unhappy about my weight.

My starting weight is the same as what I was at 9 months+ with my two youngest.sad

after DS5 I lost 2 stones in preparation for next pg and I put it back on with DD, which was all fine - but as DH took ages to decide if are going for it (and was leaning towards no for a ling time) I didn't bother to try and loose weight again.

I'm kicking myself for "waiting for him", but I was in a bad place emotionally so I was comfort eating.
he eventually changed his mind to TTC, but we had so many arguments by then that I was doubting if getting pg again is even a good idea.

we agreed to try for 3 cycles on a "it's meant to be it will happen" - basis and it coinceded with kids going back to school do there was no way I could concentrate on myself and dieting...

don't get me wrong, I'm happy about this baby, but I'm incredibly unhappy about circumstances, stressing about my weight and I blame him for wasting precious time that I could have spent loosing weight before TTC.

I'm probably being unreasonable, but I don't feel prepared, I hate my weight, I'm angry with DH and I feel really sad.
and that's not how I'd want to be right now, so that makes me feel even worse.

I don't know how to get rid of those bad feelings.sad
unless I either start dieting or start being sick so I can loose some weight before ballooning again.confused
I'm so unhappy right now I can't stop crying

elliejjtiny Fri 22-Nov-13 13:25:54

I'm with you on the weight issues. My weight is really bad. DS4 is still only little and has a lot of health issues so I put on weight after he was born because I was just eating rubbish. I'm also worried about my C-section scar and whether it will cope with the strain of another pregnancy so soon.

jaykay987 Fri 22-Nov-13 13:38:09

Oh no. Lots people seem down today. Look after yourselves and FX tomorrow will be better!

Thanks mrsb. It was fine. Took almost an hour and a half. They took loads and tested my urine. They asked lots of questions - but very few about DH.

I now have a mountain of paperwork to read! grin

They weren't very interested in my early scan dating or that Im having a private nuchal scan. So they're sending me my 12 w scan letter this week (no idea why they want one).

As expected, Ive been referred to consultant - thyroid and Bmi - but also anethatist (sp?) as I have historic back problems.

ChristmasCrackFox Fri 22-Nov-13 14:30:01

Not trivialising any of these worries but remember that your hormones are giving you quite a kicking at the moment, which makes any bad situation seem bleak. You just know there'll be a fab MN weight loss thread to help us all out afterwards!

Our bodies are doing amazing things - let's be nice to ourselves :-)

liquidstate Fri 22-Nov-13 15:53:32

My nipples are beginning to look weird. That is all.

grin

jaykay987 Fri 22-Nov-13 16:03:42

grin

BlueC2 Fri 22-Nov-13 16:45:55

Alas liquid they may never be quite the same again smile

AuntieMaggie Fri 22-Nov-13 16:46:04

Aw Zing sending you a big hug.

I've had a bacon sandwich for lunch and want fish and chips for tea... doesn't help the weight thing does it?

I put on weight when I came off the pill (I have PCOS) and I lost some of it but am still half a stone heavier than I was before and about 4 stone heavier than I'd like to be sad I'm cross with myself because I let things like work and stuff get in the way of me losing as much as I wanted to...

BlueC2 Fri 22-Nov-13 16:51:53

Just realised that one of the things i'd wanted to chat to the mw about yesterday was the fact i'm still breastfeeding 18mo DS1 and whether this could be making me more nauseaous or tired...and whether I should be taking extra supplements (just taking folic acid at the moment as Pregnancare makes me soooo constipated blush ) anyone have an experience or knowledge on this?

Also food has been my friend today...if I just eat constantly then the nausea stays relatively at bay...i dread to think how much weight i'm going to put on at this rate though?!?!

ooh and I've somehow managed to get my work done, though it did mean sending DS to the childminder again today - that's 4 days this week and he normally only does 3 days...I've missed him today sad

Hi everyone sorry to hear lots of people are feeling a bit rubbish .

I've had my booking in today with my midwife who was lovely . Gave a urine sample and had bloods done. Chatted through everything too and I'm low risk at the moment which I was happy about.
She gave me lots of info to read through and iv got my pregnancy notes. All becoming real now . Just a waiting game for the scan date which I'm almost certain will be after christmas as I will be 11 weeks on the 23rd . So il be checking the post every day !!

DoctorDonnaNoble Fri 22-Nov-13 17:30:38

So it turns out my Doctor completely confused me with his inability to communicate. The community midwife will be contacting me to come and see me at home. So I think this next doc's appointment is just collect test forms and go get tests done.
HOWEVER, Vodafone have messed me around this week resulting in me being phoneless until sometime next week, so going to have to try and phone them to let me know my alternative number! Why is everything so very hard!

Littleangel21 Fri 22-Nov-13 17:46:11

Hi ladies... So sad to read so many having a difficult time. We cannot worry about our weight just now, we are all going to put weight on and that's the price of having a baby. I feel a bit insecure about it, one of my gym mates came round and borrowed loads of dresses I won't be able to get into for at least another year. Lots of adjusting to do.

I'm so sick, weak and hungry!! Such a strange combination! I've ordered an Indian for about 4 people just for me!

Hope you're all chilling out and enjoying their Fridays xxxx

coco808 Fri 22-Nov-13 17:56:20

I'm with everyone on this. I put on so much weight before ttc, which I terribly regret now! Didn't help my mother pointing that out to me and asking why am I putting on so much weight. Oh on top of that my auntie joked about my weight very loudly at my cousin's wedding and I felt so utterly humiliated!
I was hoping to loose some weight in the first trimester with all the vomiting and what not.... But I seem to be eating loads...hmmmm
Anyway...off I go to order my BIG friday night Indian grin

MrsB2013 Fri 22-Nov-13 18:02:10

I'm with you all on the weight gain! I put on some when I came off the pill and now I'm hungry all the time so eating all day long, and not healthy foods, carbs, crisps and cheese. I'm going to be massive at this rate!!

Jaykay what sort of questions did they ask? Are the bloods for the combined nt test, or do you have to get more done at same time as scan? I hate needles and I've got my booking in app on Monday!

teaandkittens Fri 22-Nov-13 18:17:08

I'm a bit confused about the weight gain too especially as I am overweight anyway. At least I have an excuse now!

Sparky321 Fri 22-Nov-13 18:21:35

Hi all, I hope you all start feeling better soon, it is just the hormones which can only be a good thing for our beans right? It is really hard to eat anything remotely healthy at the moment I'm eating a plain crumpet for breakfast, oat cakes and bread rollswhenever I feel sick which seems only to be when Im tired or hungry (so just all the time then) lunch is usually carb based pasta or more bread, rice pudding when I get home from school and then more carbs for tea. I'm trying to eat fruit and vegetables but they are not as appealing as carbs. I don't think we should worry too much after all this sickness should be over just as we get in the 2nd trimester and then we have 6 months to eat healthily. So be kind to yourself we are doing a very important job growing our beautiful babies xx

MrsA2 Fri 22-Nov-13 18:29:13

I'm with you all on the weight gain, I was close to dropping the half stone that would get me back to what I wanted to weigh but already have gained three pounds back. With virtually no exercise (I used to do a lot but sports that aren't safe while pregnant) and a continual hunger I'm very aware that I'm getting off to a bad start.

Sorry to hear so many are feeling a bit down today. At least it's Friday so a break from exhausting days at work for many of us x

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday Fri 22-Nov-13 18:41:57

Sorry people are having tough days. I'm intending to do as little as possible this weekend as I just feel totally battered by this past week.

Good news today - my 6 week scan showed a teeny tiny embryo, firmly in the right place, with a even teenier heartbeat! The nurse could see where the bleeding had come from but said not to worry about it. So relieved and so happy to have 'met' the baby for the first time. I know it's early days still but I've been smiling all day.

It was an internal scan but not uncomfortable really.

Oh, and I took the opportunity to speak to the community midwife while I was there and managed to change my appointment date. Amazing what being there in person can do!

Have a good weekend everyone!

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs Fri 22-Nov-13 20:15:20

Itsalwaysbetteronholiday congratulations! That's fantastic news! Did they give you a little picture?

Ladies I have a question for all of you. Have any of you experienced spotting? By that I mean (apologies tmi) literally a drop or two of blood when you wipe? It's been happening to me every three or four days. Actually that's why we had the six week scan, because I'd been spotting and I was convinced it was over. A quick search of the nhs and mn suggest this sometimes happens, is it/ has it happened to any of you? Was due to see my GP today but she called in sick (and the clinic didn't bother to call so I just found out when I got there at 4.30 having left early for that purpose which didn't help my mood). So a little bit worried that I can't double check with anyone. Help!

Pearlsaplenty Fri 22-Nov-13 20:42:25

betteronholiday lovely news on your scan smile

homeiswherethegin sorry I haven't experienced that amount of spotting. What colour is it? Bright red bleeding is more a concern, although I'm not sure if a small amount is cause for concern though.

As far as the weight worries I think I'm just worried as I know this baby is going to destroy any chance of dieting/exercise for at least a year if it is anything like his brother!! I'm not even sure how much I've put on, too scared to weigh myself, just know I look bigger in the mirror.

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday Fri 22-Nov-13 20:53:06

gin - yes, am now the proud owner of a printout where you can sort of see a shape that might be a baby if you squint a bit... smile

I've been bleeding on and off very lightly since my period was due 2 weeks ago. The nurse today said it was a 'very small subchorionic bleed' and that there may be further bleeding. Not seen any red though, just very light brown. She said it was very common and not to worry (like people on here!) but maybe if it is bothering you there's no harm in getting checked out?

Can't wait until the pregnancy worrying is over - oh wait then we'll have the rest of our lives to worry about them!

justhayley Fri 22-Nov-13 23:34:28

Hiya, I got my BFP today so marking my place and saying hello grin

By LMP I'm 5+4 EDD July 21st, but I ovulate late so more likely to be about 4+5ish.

I have 1 DC - a boy aged 19M, and I had a MC in September. I'm really excited to get a BFP so quickly but am absolutely petrified of having another MC so feel like I can't get excited yet.

Iv PO2S today - cheapy had a very dark line grin and then I got an over priced CB digi which said 2-3 weeks pregnant.

I'm a bit miffed, when I had my MC I was told I could get a 6 week scan the next time I conceived. Called the GP today to get a referral and can't be seen until December 5th which will make me 7+3 and then however long it takes to get a scan after that.
Should I push to get seen quicker?
I could just wait I'm just feeling really anxious considering my MC was so recent & want to be seen ASAP.

Symptom wise: Iv had the hiccups for a few days and have been doing lots of gassy burps - lovely lol. Apart from that absolutely nothing. I hate getting sick but in a way would love to be feeling rough at least that way I'd know the hormones will still be there.
I may have to buy a bunch ofcheap tests onebay and test everyday to put my mind at rest. With my MC I had a BFN 2 says after.

Anyway that's me - sorry for long dirt post lol.

Good Luck everyone I look forward to sharing this journey with you all xx

fifi669 Sat 23-Nov-13 00:18:57

Hi, I'm due 10th July!

No sickness, no tiredness but I'm only 7 weeks so maybe it's a bit early? Or am I just jammy?

Booking in appointment next week, 12 weeks Boxing Day so wondering if I'll get in before or after Christmas....

kim2783 Sat 23-Nov-13 04:30:00

homeiswheretheginis I had some bright red spotting last week which lasted for 3 days or so. was feeling very uncertain about the whole thing and was bending my mum's ear about it every day. It has now disappeared and I'm feeling much more relaxed thankfully. Hopefully yours will clear up soon too.

I'm now 6w+5 and looking forward to my Doctors appointment next Friday.

Busy day today and I've been awake since 3am, how am I going to get through the day???

DoctorDonnaNoble Sat 23-Nov-13 08:11:04

Feeling so much better today! Nausea was the worst is been so far yesterday but not actually been physically sick (could have been but I hate being sick and will do anything to avoid it). I survived my first big social event without getting caught not drinking.
Going to get a lovely box from Paperchase on Tuesday to put all the paperwork in. Going to phone the community midwives on Monday to give them my temporary number in case they're trying to contact me - I'm assuming they won't be open on Saturdays or will they?

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Sat 23-Nov-13 09:03:13

I thought of one positive thing about me looking like I'm 8 months pg - I can be pg for 6 months at least before anyone will think I'm pg, so I can avoid people annoying me with the stupid questions for a long time! yay!grin

that actually makes me feel better.
I knew my optimism wasn't dead. it's just hiding under the blubber!grin

DoctorDonnaNoble Sat 23-Nov-13 09:06:24

zing love it. There's a positive in everything if you look hard enough grin

For any ladies in Scotland interested in an early scan, ABC4D are doing 50% off viability scans costing only £42.50!! Have clinics in Motherwell, Ayr and Edinburgh!!

I'm booked for 21st December!!

fifi669 Sat 23-Nov-13 09:52:25

Had a scary night. In proper pain, felt like I did in labour with DS! Had a poo and the pain faded..... Now remember thinking I was in labour at 37 weeks or so last time..... Til I'd gone to the loo smile TMI? Quite possibly

ismarah Sat 23-Nov-13 09:56:47

Nah, the TMI posts are my favourite... blush

AuntieMaggie Sat 23-Nov-13 10:04:24

Been awake most of the night with a pain on one side of my stomach - feels like I've pulled a muscle or something so I'm hoping its nothing serious sad

teaandkittens Sat 23-Nov-13 11:10:23

got a cold sad

what can i take?? usually when I have sniffles I neck a bottle of brandy and drug myself up with the strongest cold remedies. Not sure if that's the most sensible idea now....wink

DorotheaHomeAlone Sat 23-Nov-13 11:13:49

Hi all,

I'm joining this thread quite tentatively as I'm 5w with my first DC and not really believing it yet. I've had no symptoms at all so far so am quite nervous that it won't stick. Hoping to be with you til 29 July though.

DoctorDonnaNoble Sat 23-Nov-13 11:15:30

tea and kittens - I believe that paracetamol is ok.

MrsA2 Sat 23-Nov-13 11:29:02

Has anyone started on names yet? I don't want to jinx things but we have a bit of a short list already - luckily we seem to be quite similar in opinion (so far...).

MrsA2 Sat 23-Nov-13 11:30:04

Sorry about the pains ladies, and tea and kttens cold

AuntieMaggie Sat 23-Nov-13 11:47:08

MrsA2 we can't agree on names at all. I like Annaliese for a girl but he is adament he wants Elouise and we're struggling for boys!

teaandkittens Sat 23-Nov-13 12:04:39

I've had baby names ready for years! Unfortunately dh says no way. I think I'll win though, I'm the one carrying it!!!

Littleangel21 Sat 23-Nov-13 12:21:50

Same, tea and kittens, I've always known what I'd call my little girl or boy. DH disagrees, however!

Feeling horrendously sick today. It's been 2 weeks of feeling unbelievably sick every day 24/7 and I'm only 6weeks 3 days. I think I'm going to have to tell my work because I just can't do anything. Apparently sickness is worse if it's your first, mums- please tell me this is true xxx

MrsA2 Sat 23-Nov-13 12:28:40

AuntieMaggie I really like Annaliese but Eloise is lovely too (I'd spell it without the 'u' though).

I'm impressed that some of you have had names for years - good luck persuading the husbands!

LadyGoneGaga Sat 23-Nov-13 13:47:49

Sorry, littleangel. But no. My first was my easiest in terms of the pregnancy. Labours get a bit easier, pregnancies don't seem to!

LadyGoneGaga Sat 23-Nov-13 13:50:09

The other thing is with a first you can sleep when you want, eat when you want and generally look after yourself. It's much harder with two other little ones insisting you play with them and needing you to put them to bed before you get to go to yours. And they are not at all sympathetic about lie ins!

talulahbelle Sat 23-Nov-13 14:46:50

littleangel chuck some of your sickness this way - I feel surprisingly normal, which worries me. I want lots of strong symptoms so I know I'm properly pregnant!

Names wise I have a few I like but nothing I'm set on - James/Jamie for a boy and possibly Lydia for a girl.

MrsA2 Sat 23-Nov-13 16:19:41

Just back from buying some new bras in the next cup size, changed into one and that's SO much more comfortable!

Does make them look noticeably bigger now though - another thing to hide from work...

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Sat 23-Nov-13 16:34:33

littleangel

there's no rhyme or reason.
for me it was worst with my 3rd as i was physically sick every day from 5 weeks - 17 weeks (several times a day!) and the sickness returned at 7 months!

he was 6 days late and the last week was horrendous, I was sick 5-6 times a day.

I only put on a stone with him - but he was 9lb 6! shock

MrsB2013 Sat 23-Nov-13 16:35:33

Hi everyone!!

Had my scan this morning and there is a perfect little jelly bean!!! Saw the flickering heartbeat! I'm 8w+4 but measuring more like 9w, so we'll see what happens at the 12 week scan. The lady doing the scan checked my ovaries and said it came from the left one, which is what I thought as I had ov pain on that side, other thing she saw was a fibroid? Said it wont affect the pregnancy as its on the back wall of my womb, so will ask the MW about that on Mon.

talulah I've had no sickness at all which is why I had the early scan!

MrsA think I need new bras as my boobs feel huge, but don't want to buy a bigger size now, then in another 2 weeks need even bigger ones lol

MrsB

how could she tell which ovary the egh came from?
I never knew with any of mine, and I was never told!shock

Fiveleaves Sat 23-Nov-13 16:49:35

People getting scans! Exciting! I have had some cramps so may see if I can get an early scan after booking in appt next week. I'll be 9 weeks so would it be external or internal?

MrsB2013 Sat 23-Nov-13 16:57:46

Zing I think she could see something on it? It did look darker than the right one tho!

Five mine was external, I think at 6-7 weeks it would be internal. You might have to go private for it, as I think you only get an early NHS scan if you've had bleeding or problems in the past, I could be wrong tho!!

Fiveleaves Sat 23-Nov-13 17:11:33

Hi MrsB thanks for that. Past MC so hopefully will get one.

MrsA2 Sat 23-Nov-13 17:15:23

Glad your scan went well MrsB

I know what you mean about having to buy again soon! I bought a couple of cheap ones and made sure I currently could wear on the tightest setting so hopefully room for a bit more growth still. Feels SO much better!

MrsB2013 Sat 23-Nov-13 17:20:35

Teaanakittens I'm full of cold too, usually I take strong cold/flu tablets but only taking paracetamol twice a day, they don't really do much, what else is there to take??

coco808 Sat 23-Nov-13 17:49:58

sounds exciting MrsB smile

coco808 Sat 23-Nov-13 17:50:51

Jaykay, DH and I had a long chat today and we have decided to go for the harmony test. Could I please ask if you are going to the FMC?

teaandkittens Sat 23-Nov-13 19:24:29

mrsb I am gulping down mugs of lemon, honey and ginger. hoping my brain will think it's lemsip and make me less congested!!

Blueberry234 Sat 23-Nov-13 19:27:20

How is everyone coping with the exhaustion especially those of you with toddlers? I have my 3 yr old tomorrow whilst my H works and the thought of trying to entertain him all day out of the house (H working from home) currently makes me want to weep!

Casmama Sat 23-Nov-13 19:35:48

Hi ladies can I join? Due dc2 on 11th July. Was a little superstitious about joining but had a scan on Friday with a good strong heartbeat so feeling a bit more confident now.

Casmama Sat 23-Nov-13 19:37:09

Blueberry- how about softplay- you sit with a cup of tea and large piece of cake whilst he tires himself out

Blueberry234 Sat 23-Nov-13 19:48:23

Casmama that could work but they are all either filthy or ram packed with 6-8 yr olds and he just get trampled!

Was thinking I may take him to kids cinema if anything ok on. Then I may be able to doze!

justhayley Sat 23-Nov-13 20:12:49

Wow so many symptoms flying about. I don't feel like a real pregnant person yet. Not that I enjoy feeling sick and exhausted but it would take some of he panic away. Did another test today and got another strong positive. Just wish I could see GP next week and get a scan pay have to go private

Pearlsaplenty Sat 23-Nov-13 20:20:15

Mrs b exciting news on your scan smile

fiveleaves my scan at 6 weeks was internal and 8 weeks was external

blueberry I think the idea of cinema is good. Is there an enclosed playground near you? I have found these great with ds as I can jut sit and watch him. Depends on weather though.

For names we have first and middle for a boy smile but nothing for a girl sad we really need to work on some girl short lists. Although I do think we will be having another boy.

Blueberry234 Sat 23-Nov-13 20:41:25

I think we may do cinema, lunch and either park or local NT property if weather ok.

I have a few ideas for names

Boy
William
Henry
Zachary
Louis

Girls
Tabitha
Beatrice
Hannah
Clara
Matilda

But as I have umpteen weeks to go I bet what we use won't be on the list.

jaykay987 Sat 23-Nov-13 22:04:55

Congrats on the scan mrsb!

Loads of questions at mw - my faves were...your husband is called x, can I assume the baby is his?
And.......are you and your DH related.

Other than that....few questions about my family medical history. Was it planned? Am I happy to keep it?

Nothing I couldn't easily answer.

Coco - yes, Im booked into fmc. Are you think of going there?

elliejjtiny Sat 23-Nov-13 23:53:25

littleangel my sickness was worst with my eldest. That could be because I had more time to think about it though.

re names We've had an unused girls name picked since I was pregnant with DS3. With the boys name after we'd stared at the pg test in shock for a few mins DH suggested a boys name and I agreed with him and suggested a middle name. Job done. We picked most of our children's names really quickly, you'd think we'd have run out of ideas by now with all these boys grin.

re toddlers We watch a lot of cbeebies blush. Trying to do more with DS3 and DS4 and more housework to take my mind off the nausea and to prove to people that I can cope with 5.

6+6

talulahbelle Sun 24-Nov-13 07:59:33

I have woken up today and just don't feel pregnant. Got a nice strong line really quickly on my last test though.
Weirdly some morning sickness would be really nice right now.

coco808 Sun 24-Nov-13 09:17:56

Jaykay i'm thinking of going to the fmc too. Are you going at 10 w + 12 w?

snowpink Sun 24-Nov-13 09:22:08

Yay after weeks of virtually no symptoms, I felt sick at breakfast and the thought of coffee makes me gag! (I had this the last pregnancies as well) I'm 6+2 today so maybe symptoms are only kicking in now. I was getting really really worried. But I know they come and go as well so I'm trying not to think about it too much until Wednesday when I have my first scan.

Mrs B, could you put me on the list with due date 18.7. please? Thank you.

Howly Sun 24-Nov-13 09:22:31

Talulahbelle I feel the same, paranoid something's gonna go wrong and had to do another test to make sure I was still pregnant on thurs - bit silly!

I've had no sickness, no more tired than usual but have been very bloated (from eating badly) and do have the full feeling in boobs with sore nipples!

Keep getting random cramps like period pains, but no blood at all!

Howly Sun 24-Nov-13 09:24:02

Does everyone have this early scan or do you request it/ go private?

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Sun 24-Nov-13 09:26:18

ellie

we have 5 boys and one girl and I still struggle with the girls names more!
we have 9 nephews and 9 nieces all with same surname as us (as they are MrZing's brother's kids, not my side) so I can't choose any of their names.sad
my eldest niece is Anna, which was my favourite name since I was 8 (one of my best friends then) and I might be tempted to use it as a middle name.

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Sun 24-Nov-13 09:33:36

all of you who have no sickness/ nausea remember that not everyone gets those symptoms yet they have perfectly healthy babies.
also being sick guarantees nothing either, I was sick for weeks with my 5th pg, but it ended in a MC at 11+5.

so if you are not physically sick thank your lucky stars and do not wish you were!
it's bloody horrible!
once I had a bad cold with blocked nose and puking up mashed potatoes blocked my throat like a sticky plug and I couldn't breathe for about 30-40 seconds.
it was very scary.
I don't eat mashed potatoes when pg anymore.

Pearlsaplenty Sun 24-Nov-13 10:28:49

zing we find girl names hard too, I think because there are so many more to choose from and so many different 'types' of girl names. I really like Anna too, but can't use as it has a personal negative connotation.

howly I think you only get early scans if you have problems like bleeding or history of problems. Otherwise you pay privately.

jaykay987 Sun 24-Nov-13 12:18:01

Yep howly - private scan here.

Coco - yes Im booked I for bloods and quick ultrasound at 10w+3 and then nuchal scan and hopefully harmony results at 12w+3 (which also happens to be Xmas eve - so fingers crossed all is ok).

I preparing myself for the harmony not working. Im overweight and see the results don't always work. Keeping my fingers crossed it does though.

Littleangel21 Sun 24-Nov-13 12:48:45

I have found something that helps the sickness, briefly.... Ice lollies. I've had 3 this morning already! Staff in tesco think I'm mental xx

MrsA2 Sun 24-Nov-13 12:58:39

Ha Littleangel that makes me smile to think of you buying three ice lollies when it's this chilly! Good tip though.

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Sun 24-Nov-13 13:12:16

littleangel

I wonder if you could have a few dozen delivered so the shop assistants won't suspect you're pg!

pearls

we like Biblical names and there are far more nice boys names in the Bible (especially nice ones) than girls!

DD is Elizabeth Grace - it was the only combination we both really liked through all the pgs since I was pg with DS1.

some of the girls' names I can't choose but love are Hannah, Rebecca, Miriam, Naomi and some of the boys are Thomas, Reuben, Benjamin, James, Raphael, Luke....

I think we'll have to go for "Pink" or "Blue".
or go PC and choose "Red"!grin

Sparky321 Sun 24-Nov-13 14:03:13

Thanks so much for the tip re ice lollies I have been feeling sooooo bad today after 3 I'm feeling a bit more human now

elliejjtiny Sun 24-Nov-13 14:55:00

howly you have to pay if you want an early scan here. I managed to get one at 9 weeks with DS1 because I'd been spotting and a midwife who'd had 3 miscarriages herself took pity on me. But that meant I didn't get a 12 week scan and it was a long wait until the 20 week scan.

zing we like bible names too smile. I love the name Miriam but DH doesn't. Esther was another one on my list that DH doesn't like. Thankfully we have found it easier to agree on boys names even though DH likes the more unusual ones and I prefer more popular names. I wonder if we have any double ups.

BlueC2 Sun 24-Nov-13 14:58:56

With everyone on the nausea and exhaustion. Currently havimg a lie down but really must get up and finish prep for my work meeting tomorrow and work out what on earth I'm going to wear for it. The thought of being up and ready to leave the house by 7.30 including getting DS ready is making me feel more sick by the minute! On the plus side I have my early scan date 2nd Dec when I'll be 7+6. Strange though as it seems to be in the main xray/ultrasound dept rather than in the mat unit which is odd!

Re names we have a lovely girls name ready which didn't get used for DS obviously but really struggling to agree on a boys name.

Bother think just heard DS waking up from his nap-i was supposed to get my work done whilst he was asleep but been napping myself!

As Zing and others have said no sickness/nausea doesn't mean that there's something wrong. I've had none at all and my scan yesterday showed a perfect little jelly bean! I know there's still a long way to go yet, but so far so good.

I did ask the sonographer about no sickness, and she said don't worry, your just very lucky, and that every pregnancy is different, so next time I might not be so lucky!!

MrsB2013 Sun 24-Nov-13 15:22:03

Has anyone else found the end of their nose is tingly at times! Since friday the tip of my nose has been tingling in the evening! Wierd! dunno if its a sympton or i'm eating more pepper!!

coco808 Sun 24-Nov-13 19:26:03

I know what you mean MrsB, my DH is not happy about the cost either. My parents have given me some inheritance money to put towards the house. I asked them if I can use it for the Harmony and they are more than happy for me to do so. Other problem is, I don't completely trust the team involved in doing and assessing the scans in my local hospital. I don't think I will believe them, no matter what result they give me for the combined test grin

Lauranne Sun 24-Nov-13 19:34:10

Hello ladies,

Had my private scan today, saw the teensiest little heartbeat, feel much more at rest now. Looking more like six weeks than eight weeks but will wait for the 12 week scan before I change my due date in case it changes again. Exciting times ahead grin

justhayley Sun 24-Nov-13 19:38:22

Hiya,
Felt a little pregnant today smile was absolutely shattered - although I have a 19 month old who STILL has never slept though the night so I'm always exhausted but today was more. I also walked passed greggs and it smelt like someone had cooked the pasties up my nose.

Names: I have a few girls names I really like,
Phoebe, Willow, Amelia & Darcey being favs but haven't thought seriously about any yet. If it's a girl though I would like to have 2 middle names, June being the 2nd one - after my nan. I'd use it alone but I don't really like the name don't think it makes sense having a July baby.
Boys like Josh/Joshua - although DP hated both variations when we were naming DS so thats unlikely, also like Ruben although not sure if flows that well with surname.
Anyway plenty of time to think of names, first step is just getting to 12 weeks.

Zing your mash story actually made me lol. I had the same experience with DS but with spicy pasta - my nose stung all night afterwards lol.

I didn't have any morning sickness with DS in the 1st trimester. Was sick very randomly in the 2nd and 3rd - smells mainly set me off, couldn't walk past a chicken or kebab shop without vomitting on the curbshock. Worst incidence was the week before I gave birth in wagamumas - I got sick on the tables in front of everyone straight into my meal - luuurrrvly!

fifi669 Sun 24-Nov-13 20:37:43

I have a tingly nose too!

Although I haven't had sickness I'm def more delicate in that respect..... Could be because DS is potty training. Not good with the number 2s.... confused

Howly Sun 24-Nov-13 22:58:14

Fifi669 so glad to hear it, thought I was going mad or just sensitive to the cold! Maybe something to do with blood flow!

BlueC2 Mon 25-Nov-13 08:27:25

Morning all just had horrific night with DS and had to cancel my work meeting as a result! He was coughing and crying til 5am and nothing we tried seemed to console or settle him for more than 5-10mins! Not sure whether it's more teeth-just back molars left-or that he's got a cold but I am seriously exhausted and have kept him home from childminders so need to find some energy to look after him!

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Mon 25-Nov-13 10:12:14

how old is he?

molars are vile, I recommend Dentinox gel or Anbesol liquid and Nurofen/Calpol as he goes to bed.

I was wondering recently why it's always at night they are in pain from teething - a friend explained that as teeth grow and move constantly they have less resistance from the gums at night as the muscles relax whe we sleep.

so it's worked for us to give them a dose of painkillers before bed. see if that helps.
(we've just had 2 months of that on & off with DD. she's 19 months)

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Mon 25-Nov-13 10:14:32

in other news I'm 7 weeks today and I thought to weigh myself this morning.
I lost 1 kg (2lbs) in the last 2 weeks! shock (result!grin )

BlueC2 Mon 25-Nov-13 10:58:37

Hi zing he turns 18m tomorrow! We tried calpol teething powders breastfeeding cuddles songs and stories last night! He struggles with the early moving of teeth so could well be that (oh joy!) as he often gets a cold with it too-nose streaming this morning and no doubt running down the back of his throat too, hence the coughing. All fun hmm We've watched several episodes of Postman Pat curled up on the sofa so far this morning. I'll be 7 weeks tomorrow. Well done on losing weight!

AuntieMaggie Mon 25-Nov-13 11:35:32

Well done zing on losing weight. I've stopped weighing myself for now. I have developed a thing for satsumas. And chips. Not on the same plate.

Fed up with waiting for scan and to tell people.

I'm off up north for work tonight - I really don't want to be away from dp at the moment. I had a dream about losing the baby last night sad and today I have a funny tummy - not really ill but have been 3 times already this morning.

fifi669 Mon 25-Nov-13 13:09:54

I lose weight when I'm pregnant too, it's the lack of beer for me blush, I've lost 11lb since I last weighed myself which I think was end of September?

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Mon 25-Nov-13 13:17:13

do try the Dentinox gel, Bonjela and Calgel are not as good.

I haven't tried to loose weight yet (but thanks!), I'm pretty sure it's due to the combination of increased metabolism and eating less due to feeling nauseous.
and I don't care for sweet things, only sugary tea.

tomatoes & coffee are outsad
parma ham & asparagus tortillas in - I had the same with DS5, expensive babies!
also I want grated black pepper, salt, cheese and/ordouble cream on/with everything confused
(I might tell BIWI this baby is a fan of low carbing!grin)

AuntieMaggie Mon 25-Nov-13 13:32:16

Lol do that zing grin

I'm giving in to chips/crisps a bit as I'm travelling alot with work and seems to help the little nausea I've had. That and diet coke. I get a bit nauseaus travelling anyway due to the anxiety I think. I usually buy bits in M&S at the stations but I've gone off most of the options apart from cocktail sausages hmm feeling a bit dicky today too and I've just started a 4 hour train journey... oh such fun.

I'm waiting on a date for my scan, advice from my hospital consultant about the effect this pregnancy may have and blood results for that condition. My mw is on Monday. Do you normally go alone or should I take dp?

AuntieMaggie Mon 25-Nov-13 13:38:53

If I get to my destination without having a hissy fit or being sick I will be amazed. Wish everyone on this train would feck off especially the smelly and ill ones!

Ipsumlorem Mon 25-Nov-13 14:13:11

littleangel I have been living on ice lollys for the last week. I see some others here are struggling with sickness too. I've been so sick I've lost half a stone already and had to go to hospital the other night to be rehydrated by drip as I can't keep anything down sad I have anti sickness tablets but they are not doing much today unfortunately sad

It sucks, though the doctor took pity on me and did an early scan and it was fab to see the little heartbeat smile

kim222 Mon 25-Nov-13 14:16:11

Can I join?? Think I'll be due on 19th July.

Have a 10 month old dd, so very much going to have my hands full!!

Not been having much in the way of symptoms except extreme tiredness but today have been throwing up a lot and can only seem to stomach crackerbreads and water.

With last pregnancy I used to eat a few crackerbreads before I got up, need to do that tomorrow, feeling dreadful!

Got booking appt next week and bloods week after, all coming back to me now after being pregnant not long ago!

Hope everyone is well x

MrsB2013 Mon 25-Nov-13 14:36:36

How is everyone today??

Just got home from my MW appointment, she was lovely! I did have a little cry, as had to have bloods done and I have fear of needles and pain, but it was fine! She did it at the start before filling in the forms so I didn't have time to worry about it! She is referring me to the consultant midwife so I can talk about my fears I have of giving birth, I asked about a C/S, she said it's rare they will agree to it, but sometimes it happens.

Coco I asked her about Harmony, but she hasn't heard of it! Need to decide soon if were going to do it as would need the first appointment next week sometime! We can afford it but DH thinks the money would be better spent on something for baby!

Is anyone else going for the Harmony Test?

kim222 Mon 25-Nov-13 15:20:17

Just been reading all about Harmony, never heard of it before. Tempted to look at it but husband will never agree to the cost! £750!! My dd was born with a medical condition which we didn't know about as was not picked up on the scans, it would have been good to know about it to be prepared but on the other hand could just see me worrying for the whole pregnancy. I didn't have the downs test last time for that very reason, bit unsure really! Only 6.2 weeks so have some time to think

MrsB2013 Mon 25-Nov-13 15:51:37

Kim if you can get to London the test is £400 at the FMC! I only know about it from reading on here.

hi kim welcome and congratulations! I'll add you to do roll call in a minute.

I have 17 months between my DS2 & DS3 - it's the closest gap have between kids and it was tough - although mainly because bf was awful due to tongue tie which nobody realised until DS3 was 8months old.
they will be nice and close together, it will be great! and there will be the added benefit of them starting school only 1 year apart!result! grin

(for us it's the other way round - DS2 is July born, DS3 is December, so despite the small gp they are 2 years apart in school)

maggie

a friend of mine used to live on lucozade and chips! whatever helps..

I had a nap and overslept. I called the school that I will be late and I almost cried because I felt so sick from the stress I was close to throwing up...
I give it a week...maybe I should start a thread about "guess how long before I puke?" grin

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Mon 25-Nov-13 16:36:45

maggie

I tend to see MW/GP on my own - but as the MW takes both of your medical history at booking in app if your DH can tag along it's fine.

mine normally comes to scans - although he missed it the 20-weeks one with DD because he was ill. which is why we didn't find out, I didn't want to know without him being there.

MrsB

quick list update, you beat me to it again! grin

MrsB2013 Mon 25-Nov-13 17:32:59

Hehe Zing it's easier to update the list quickly, otherwise people get lost wink

Zing how many DC do you have?

Maggie I went to MW on my own as most of it is just filling in forms, DH will come to scans with me.

DoctorDonnaNoble Mon 25-Nov-13 17:51:11

Got my midwife appointment today - 16th December. They come to our house here. And they can only give me an approximate time of 9-1. Given the length of the appointment time, I'm sure the Head is going to be thrilled that I need to have 7 out of 8 lessons covered. Of course, I could end up being in for most of them. But if there's loads of people off they may have to buy some cover in and then finishing early won't save any money. Just got his consent for me to have time off for early scan on Wednesday and the next time I see him I'm going to be asking for more time off!
I'm going to be his favourite person aren't I confused

Sparky321 Mon 25-Nov-13 18:20:18

Got to meet my little bean today, was able to see its little heartbeat and it's almost 1cm long. So happy to see that the extreme tiredness and nausea is making my baby big and strong. Just need to arrange my booking in appointment now.
7w exactly today.

elliejjtiny Mon 25-Nov-13 18:28:09

Congrats on your bean sparky.

zing the mashed potato puke sounds scary. The worst thing I've puked up was a sherbert lemon, felt like I was puking glass.

mrsb pity we can't do a swap, I really don't want a C-section but my chances of getting one anyway are really high sad

re harmony test nope, just going for whatever the NHS offers me minus the nuchal scan/triple test

AuntieMaggie Mon 25-Nov-13 18:46:25

After sitting next to the smelliest smoker on the train for 4 hours (boak) i have arrived at the hotel to find they've mucked my booking up and put me in a twin room sad

teaandkittens Mon 25-Nov-13 19:16:37

auntiemaggie I've got to go to London for work this week and I'm dreading it- feeling really anxious. My main worry is that ms will start just as I get on the train (I haven't had it yet, only 6 wks pg today) and then I'll be all alone and vomity without dh sad
I have a fear of vomiting.

feeling a bit miserable today-12 weeks is so far away and I just want to know my baby is ok. Someone at dh's work just had a mc at 7wks and it's made me extra anxious.

Also petrified of ms. And have a cold. and work is just crap, I sit there thinking "What's the point, I'm having a baby!"

whinge over. I think I'm hungry!

coco808 Mon 25-Nov-13 19:34:28

It is a though one MrsB. The mn thread on harmony really helped. I'm pasting it here....
http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_tests_choices/a1599017-Harmony-prenatal-test-anyone-know-about-it

coco808 Mon 25-Nov-13 19:34:52

I meant tough one*

coco808 Mon 25-Nov-13 19:35:22

awww sparky you must be so pleased

jaykay987 Mon 25-Nov-13 20:04:13

Doctor - that is a big window the mw has given you! I'd be annoyed as it'd mean a full day off work. Good you're getting a "proper" appointment now though! smile

I still cannot shake this headache. It's been off and on for a month. I presume it's hormones. I'm already onto my second stick of 4head! grin

I am starting to burst! I desperately want to tell someone - anyone! grin We have arranged to tell PIL two weeks on Sunday. That's ages away! smile

AuntieMaggie Mon 25-Nov-13 20:04:23

I know how you feel teaandkittens - I've known since 5 weeks and I'm 8 weeks now - its going so slowly I just want to know everythings ok. Still feels so surreal. I have a higher risk of mc so just want to get past the 12 week mark.

MrsB2013 Mon 25-Nov-13 20:18:55

Jaykay I find those cooling gel pads are good for getting rid of headaches

MrsA2 Mon 25-Nov-13 20:22:15

Lovely news sparky

Jaykay I'm with you! I nearly cracked and told work. Just want to be able to share with someone other than my husband. We have an early scan Friday so planning to tell my sister weekend after that when I see her. Holding out to tell the parents fade to face at Christmas but not sure I'll make it that far.

In other news my 12wk scan date has come through for 19 Dec. How does the results from nuchal and bloods work? I really, really want to know the risk level before Christmas but not sure this will give me enough time...

justhayley Mon 25-Nov-13 21:07:07

hmm feeling miserable today. How long did everyone have to wait to see a HCP? Anyone no if my first port of call has to be the GP or can I book directly to see the midwife?

I went to the GPs today to try & get a cancellation appointment but couldn't get past the dam receptionists - they are like little hitlers.

Think I'm going to have to pay for private, but think it's unfair considering I had a MC 2 months ago & was told I should get an early scan at 6 weeks - now I need one I can't even get an appointment for GP to confirm pregnancy until I'm 8! Wondering then how long it will take to see a MW or/and get a not so early early scan. confused

6 weeks today!

justhayley Mon 25-Nov-13 21:08:36

Ps anyone else REALLY thirsty?

jaykay987 Mon 25-Nov-13 21:23:53

It depends on your area Hayley. Some let you self refer to mw, mine didn't. Then our me don't want you see you before 10weeks.

I'm super thirsty. And I'm never thirsty!

kim222 Mon 25-Nov-13 21:26:09

Do you have the community midwives number from last time? I would just ring them and explain or get an emergency appt at the drs if you can't get past the reception, just put emphasis on the anxiety it's causing you x

Pearlsaplenty Mon 25-Nov-13 21:43:24

justhayley can't you contact your epu directly and ask advice? Would they have records for you from last time? You have my sympathy, that would be very stressful.

ismarah Mon 25-Nov-13 22:27:32

Does anyone know if we can use those ibuprofen gels or heat pads externally? Back is killing me after a very long day. I very sensibly normally chuck out the packaging so can't just check the box. And I don't really want to have a hot bath every time my back hurts. (Well, I do right now because I'm freezing but had a hot shower this AM and my skin can't cope in this cold. But mmmm bath.)

8+2 today. And two weeks till I see the local MW. If only I had something to occupy my mind all that time...oh yes, deadlines. That should do it..

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Mon 25-Nov-13 22:31:17

MrsB

we have 5 boys and a girl (she's the baby).
GP was holding her head when I explained that although we have 6 children and this is my 7th, in fact it's my 8th pg because we lost one.

she was probably shocked rather than being unable to calculate grin

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Mon 25-Nov-13 22:32:53

Ismarah

ibuprofen - strictly no. sorry
not even as Lemsip.
after 13 weeks you can see an osteopath, maybe you could have a massage in the meantime but do say you are pg

DoctorDonnaNoble Tue 26-Nov-13 07:16:45

sad woke up with nausea. Nothing in the house I want for breakfast. Told the ILs and DH's sister last night - they are hugely excited. Scan tomorrow, then we can start telling people.

DinkyMole Tue 26-Nov-13 07:49:05

Ismarah I'd have thought the heat pads would be fine - similar to using a hot water bottle really. Definitely no ibuprofen though. Paracetamol is okay.

I'm sort of bouncing between the two buses - LMP puts me as 25th July but fairly sure scan will put me as August. Got booking in on 17th December and we've found somewhere that does early scans for £60 so we'll do that just before Xmas.

Nausea started the last couple of days - joy!

jaykay987 Tue 26-Nov-13 08:03:21

That's exciting doctor. I'm jealous - as although have had a scan, we are waiting til my ten week scan until we tell anyone. I am bursting to talk! grin
So two weeks today I have a scan and two weeks 5 days til we tell PIL. So 3w 5 days til we tell my dad, and no idea how long I'll have to wait to see my mother (mid January maybe?)......so no idea how long I'll have to wait until I tell my friends! grin. Agggghhhhhh!

Anyone got anything exciting happening today? I've spent the last three hours trying not to be sick.....I'm now going to be seriously late for work......urgh. (I really must stop being on mn so much! grin)

ismarah Tue 26-Nov-13 08:24:18

I solved the whole needing ibuprofen thing by going to sleep at 11. Seems to have done the trick for bow.

It's my FILs birthday soon and I really wanted us to get him a card that says Happy Birthday Grandad on the outside and write inside it 'look forward to meeting you in July, love Bean'. DH isn't entirely up for it...
(DH is an only child - and I'm the eldest in my family so our bean will be the first grandchikd for all. Gulp.)

All you people straddling buses are making me worry. It's only my calculations that suggest July 5th as EDD, and I've been thinking weeeellll, it's a first, firsts are always late. Except they're not always. But am sticking here I think, no June bus visits for me. #loyalty #lazy

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Tue 26-Nov-13 08:45:49

nose bleeds have arrived. lucky me

justhayley Tue 26-Nov-13 09:18:04

grin yay managed to get a GP appointment for today.
Called to get an emergency appointment - first they refused, then I stropped, & then put on my I'm almost ready to cry voice, and theyv said they won't give me an emergency appointment, but will slot me in at the end of the midday surgery as an extra, but the non-appointment will have to be quick. They can call it what ever they like as long as I get in lol.
Hopefully I'll get a referral for an early scan smile

Pearlsaplenty Tue 26-Nov-13 09:22:32

I just realised that I'm now a few days past 9 weeks, looked online an apparently bean is now a fetus and 3 cms long!! Where did that time go, last time I looked it up it was around 3 mms!! confused so strange to think that in 2.5 weeks I'll be into 2nd trimester!

justhayley Tue 26-Nov-13 09:23:46

Iv only told my friend, I was meeting her the morning I POAS & she was really supportive through my MC, & has experienced pregnancy after MC so I couldn't keep it in. I actually havnt even told DP yet ssshhhhh lol. Hes away with work at the moment & won't be Home till next week. I really want to tell him to his face not over the phone but not sure I can hold it in much longer, feel like I'm ready to pop everytime I speak to him. Dying to tell my mum but not telling anyone else until DP knows.

jaykay987 Tue 26-Nov-13 09:45:05

Pearl - that's exciting! 2.5 weeks? That's fast!

Hayley - I had the same dilemma. DP was away - so I had to wait forever -4 days- to tell him face to face. So I don't envy you having to wait longer.
Great news you've got into the doctor.

Pearlsaplenty Tue 26-Nov-13 09:55:08

justhayley great news with appointment! I can't believe you've managed to keep it a secret for dh so long!!

jaykay I know it has gone so quick all of a sudden!

fifi669 Tue 26-Nov-13 10:54:30

My EDD is the 10th, anyone else around there got their scan date? I'm trying to see if I'll be before/after Christmas....

tannyLoo72 Tue 26-Nov-13 11:05:20

Hi, please take me off the list, it seems I was unfortunately right not to get too excited. I have an ectopic or an unviable pregnancy, which should end soon. I've had a crap few days, but have plenty of support from the RMC thread.

Wishing you all the best for the remainder of your pregnancies. Enjoy every symptom and relish in the knowledge that your body is doing a miraculous thing!

LadyGoneGaga Tue 26-Nov-13 11:15:51

Tannyloo I am so, so sorry, you have so been through it these past months and I was really hoping this one was sticky. I hope they can deal with the ectopic quickly and it's not caused any damage. Thinking of you thanks

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

jaykay987 Tue 26-Nov-13 11:33:32

tanny - so sorry to hear that. I hope you have the help and support that you need.

fifi - I'm due 5th. MW informed me my nhs would be schedule between chrsitmas and new year, or the first week of Jan. SO I would expect yours to definitely be after. As the nuchal has a window between 11.5-13.5 weeks - they seem to book them later rather than earlier than 12 weeks. Though I guess every hospital is different, and with the christmas period - it may be different to any other time of year. I haven;t got my scan date confirmed yet though - so we'll see.

mg - that's great news. FX everything is ok through the xmas period

sarlyn Tue 26-Nov-13 12:06:15

Hope there's room for another one! Due on the 12th of July with our first. Just got the dates for booking in (17th Dec) and scan (23rd Dec). So glad it's before Christmas!

Good luck to everyone else! grin

justhayley Tue 26-Nov-13 13:31:04

Hiya so sorry Tanny sad hope you have lots of RL people and support around you thanks

Iv just been to the GP it was SO rushed, I wasn't even asked to wee in a pot nothing. All he said was he wont recommend me for an early scan as I'm of good age and previous MC was just one of those things. He said i i really feel like i need one then ill have to pursuade the MW when i get an appointment. Went through some paperwork and will be in the system for MW to contact me now. Kinda pointless really.

Anyway I couldn't stand it so iv booked myself in for a private scan at 2pm. I doubt I'll see a HB so probably should have waited a week but just desperate to see why ever I should be seeing at 6+1 weeks

So nervous - fingers crossed

snowpink Tue 26-Nov-13 13:44:08

I'm sorry Tanny, this must be such a difficult time for you

jaykay987 Tue 26-Nov-13 13:45:12

good luck Hayley.

Fingers crossed you'll see a heartbeat. Not always expected...but I was lucky enough to see one at 5w+6.

FX for you - let us know how you get on!

snowpink Tue 26-Nov-13 13:47:40

I had a tiny bleed yesterday so went for a scan. Too early for a heartbeat unfortunately but yolk sac was good and in the right place. They backdated me from 6+4 to 5+4 (they did this with the others as well. Is it because I ovulate later than normal?)
Next scan is 23.12. So I hope it's good news then so it won't ruin Christmas...

My new due date is 21.7.

jaykay987 Tue 26-Nov-13 14:16:39

snowpink - that sounds promising.

I went from 7ws to 5w+6 at my early scan. I knew I had ovulated late, but their dates put me back even further than I had thought. She explained it to me that if it implanted say three days after ov then it would be even further back. SO you might have only ovulated 2/3 days later than expected, but together with a lengthened implantation time one week movement at this stage is not unusual.

liquidstate Tue 26-Nov-13 14:44:29

I had first nosebleed in donkeys years this morning. Just off for the first midwife appointment. Am on anti sick tablets but still being sick so may ask for another week off.

Will make a decision re private 11 week scan after chatting to midwife. Everything so complicated because of Christmas. confused

MrsKate Tue 26-Nov-13 15:50:16

Hi girls I got a bfp this morning hopefully due 27th July I'm 5+2 this is 2 year in the making I have a 3 and a half year old ds gringringrin

DinkyMole Tue 26-Nov-13 16:02:43

I know the clearblue indicator is highly unreliable, but has anyone had similar to this -
Last Tuesday 11dpo: not pregnant
Last Thursday 13dpo: pregnant 1-2 weeks
Today 18dpo: pregnant 3+

Is that not a little fast?

jaykay987 Tue 26-Nov-13 16:19:27

I wouldn't read anything into it Dinky.

I got 1-2w on dpo16, 2-3 dpo 20 and have never got a 3+. (--although only let myself try twice as they are soooo expensive--

snowpink Tue 26-Nov-13 17:44:34

Jaykay
Thanks for explaining, that makes sense!

kim222 Tue 26-Nov-13 17:57:14

All this talk of early scans think I'm going to book in for one. I did last time at 10 weeks as was going on a long haul flight at 11 weeks and just wanted to know everything okay!

I won't be 12 weeks till 2nd week of Jan, I'm so impatient don't think I can wait that long!

Now just to convince dh that we can afford to spend the money that close to Christmas!

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday Tue 26-Nov-13 18:06:15

Sorry to hear that Tanny.

First team drinks tomorrow for my new contract. I am going to have to desperately weigh up the best excuses for not drinking I can think of in the next 24 hours, and as I'm likely to have a few of these occasions in the next few months, one that's fairly long lasting. I guess as none of them have met me before, I could just say I don't drink but it feels weird to say such a blatant lie. Plus I'm bound to get dragged into a conversation about drinking at some point...

Me too !! All this talk of early scans makes me feel like I need one too . I feel so paranoid that something is going to happen ,in a way I wish I was more naïve to it as I spend most of my time constantly worrying and thinking something is going to go wrong. My dp doesn't see the need for one though .
On another note I'm feeling overwhelmingly tired just finished nights and back to two 13 hour shifts tomorrow I could cry at the thought of it confused. Feel constantly nauseous and starving all the time trying to eat healthily but still eating way more than pre pregnancy. Don't know how I'm going to get through the next two days.
Sorry for the moaning hmm I'm off to get something to eat.

DoctorDonnaNoble Tue 26-Nov-13 18:18:26

I'm really not feeling hungry at all at the moment and I seem to have gone off pastry which is unheard of!

justhayley Tue 26-Nov-13 23:42:07

Hiya had my scan looks like I'm more 5 1/2 weeks than 6.

Big news - there were 2 sacs visible!! The first is the right size and seems to be doing well, the 2nd is smaller and wasn't as bright. At this point it can not be confirmed if twin 2 is just smaller & developing slower or it has stopped developing in the last few days to a week.
I didn't see any heartbeats but wasn't expecting to.

Iv always always wanted twins. Iv been excited all day. However tonight iv started to get a bit down about twin 2. I'm really scared that it's not going to progress and I'm going to miscarry, and then if I MC 1 what happens to the other 1, surely it must effect the pregnancy in some way.
Really don't want to lose another baby this year. I know one healthy baby would still be amazing but if iv made 2 then I want 2.

Iv been told to get another scan in 10-14 days, then they can confirm whats going on.
Hoping & praying it's not too late for twin 2 & the next scan I have I see 2 healthy little heartbeats.

Jeezaloo Wed 27-Nov-13 03:26:57

Hi all

Please can I come and join you all? I've not wanted to tempt fate by joining up so soon, but I'm feeling proper crap today, so I guess this must be it!

I'm overseas, so not sure how the appointments and scans work over here, but I'm having blood tests on Friday, then a dating scan next week hopefully. For now though, I think I'm due 18th-ish.

I have a DS aged 3, so this'll be DC2.

Justhayley that's so exciting - good luck!

snowpink Wed 27-Nov-13 05:00:56

Welcome jeezaloo! I'm abroad too so I struggle a lot with the system here and ask the most stupid questions as nobody explains stuff to me, they probably think, ah third child, she's done it before. For example I had bloods taken and when I got home I was wondering, what exactly for? (In the UK there was a long list in the mat notes what the blood will be tested for)

jaykay987 Wed 27-Nov-13 05:03:57

Wow Hayley - that is exciting! grin

snowpink Wed 27-Nov-13 05:06:35

Hayley
Exciting news!! Fingers crossed you'll get two heartbeats next time!

DoctorDonnaNoble Wed 27-Nov-13 05:48:11

Exciting news Hayley. Well, got my private scan this morning and I'm getting really nervous about all the things that could go wrong! I haven't had any bleeding or cramp or pains that would suggest something's up but still really worries. Suddenly glad that we've limited who we've told so far.

jaykay987 Wed 27-Nov-13 06:13:52

Good luck doctor. How far along do you think you are? Do you know what you're "expecting" to see?

DoctorDonnaNoble Wed 27-Nov-13 06:16:38

I should see something fairly reptilian and the size of a blueberry! Apparently. According to internet sites I'm 7 +2. So, I'm just hoping for proof I'm really pregnant!

snowpink Wed 27-Nov-13 07:14:52

Good luck doctor

DoctorDonnaNoble Wed 27-Nov-13 07:18:32

Thanks. Does anyone know when/how we can get maternity exemption certificate for prescription fees?

Sparky321 Wed 27-Nov-13 07:30:00

Really sorry to hear your news Tanny take care.

just fingers crossed you get 2 heartbeats at your next scan wow twins how exciting.

Doctor our due dates are the same when I saw my little bean on Monday at exactly 7 weeks, the sonagrapher said at this stage they look just like beans you can't really make out the head but it was amazing all the same.

This forum is such a help, thank you all for your updates. smile

jaykay987 Wed 27-Nov-13 07:53:09

Doctor - my mw signed the form. I then had to fill out the remainder of the details and hand into my gp to sign. They have posted it off - so I'm hoping to get my exemption card in the next few weeks.

Justhayley....just wanted to hop on and say I'm so pleased your scan was good and twins, wow!!! Fx that you get to see 2 heartbeats next time!grin

Pearlsaplenty Wed 27-Nov-13 08:57:12

Oh my goodness justhayley that us exciting! My fingers are crossed that you get 2 healthy heartbeats next time!!smile

justhayley Wed 27-Nov-13 08:58:36

Thanks girls. I'm going to spend the nx two weeks worrying somethings happened to twin2, and If it's lovely & healthy will spend the next 7 months worrying about how the hell I'll manage with twins and a then 2.3y old lol.

justhayley Wed 27-Nov-13 08:59:47

Doctor - the GP sorted out my exemption form yesterday. With DS the MW did it after my 12 week scan I think.
Good luck today xx

BlueC2 Wed 27-Nov-13 10:12:22

tanny so sorry to hear your news

justhayley hope all stays well with twin2

doctor glad you've got appointments sorted now

Well I am exhausted now had 3 broken nights up with DS who is full of cold. He keeps coughing with all mucus running down back of his throat poor thing and last night was sick in bed. DH was out babysitting for a friend and I had just fallen asleep so i had to get up and sort him out. He's so grizzly today doesn't know what to do with himself. DH has taken day off to help but ill DS is such a mummy's boy so I'm still not getting much rest. Just so tired and nauseous! Ugh!

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Wed 27-Nov-13 11:26:11

hayley

exciting and scary news for you, fx crossed for two healthy babies.

On the side I just want to mention that my SIL had two yolk sacs on one early scan, but the follow up scan only showed one baby - the other sac simply disappeared. when this happens it's called a "vanishing twin" and it shouldn't effect the surviving twin
SIL had a healthy daughter.

I hope this eases your worries, but as nothing is confirmed yet let's hope for the best!

AuntieMaggie Wed 27-Nov-13 11:44:04

I am so tired today. I didn't get home til 10 last night and was back in work at 7 sad

I don't feel pregnant at all really today - I just want my scan so I can have it confirmed.

DoctorDonnaNoble Wed 27-Nov-13 11:50:06

Well. I'm limbo for the next 9 days. Scan showed not as far along as I thought and couldn't see anything in the sachmm
Trying not to worry and thinking it's just too early but have scan at EPU next Friday.
Feeling very insecure right now.

fifi669 Wed 27-Nov-13 13:43:21

Hope everyone gets the news they're hoping for!

I've booked myself in for a scan Sunday, I'll be 8+3. I'd love twins! 1 in 70 chance I read somewhere....

Need some reassurance hence the scan. Practically convinced myself it was an ectopic pregnancy yesterday due to a one sided pain, nausea, light headedness etc. of course all the panicking meant I had a accelerated heart rate too! Was fine a few hours later.

Roll on Sunday!

DinkyMole Wed 27-Nov-13 13:46:47

Donna, sorry to hear that sad fx everything is actually okay and that the next 9 days go as quickly as possible.

Sparky321 Wed 27-Nov-13 16:21:23

Doctor everything crossed for you here. And also hope the next 9 days go as quickly as possible.

Just got hold of a midwife to make my booking in appointment 23th dec which according to my dates and the scan on Monday makes me 11 weeks she insisted that I was only 10 !!!

I'm sure in the scheme of things this doesn't matter but I've found it really annoying as we don't all have 28 day cycles ( rant over )

Sparky321 Wed 27-Nov-13 16:22:41

* I mean I will be 11 weeks on the 23/12 not that I am now !

liquidstate Wed 27-Nov-13 16:33:17

Well the secret is out. I just projectile vomited over the floor at the MILs...

Sparky321 Wed 27-Nov-13 16:40:34

Fly

welcome! and that's my DS1's birthday!

FlyLikeABird Wed 27-Nov-13 20:09:16

A good date then. It would be lovely to have a baby on its due date grin rocks in the corner at the memory of being 12 days overdue last time

FoxtrotOscarBackToEconomy Wed 27-Nov-13 20:26:55

Welcome Fly and the other newcomers.

Liquid that's a great way of revealing your news grin. Hope you are feeling ok now.

Doctor hope that the next scan is good news. Try not to stress too much over the next nine days.

Hayley that's exciting news! Fingers crossed that the next scan will show two healthy babies.

I went for my first midwife appointment yesterday. I'm not in the UK so don't panic at what I'm about to say! I repeat, I am not in the UK! I know the system here so I was expecting an internal exam but I wasn't expecting a bonus smear test at the same time. hmm Fortunately I didn't get the breast examination that is also quite popular here at the first appointment!

Midwife gave my due date as 1st July but I'll wait until after my scan in a couple of weeks to put my official date because I think I conceived late - I only got a BFP when AF was a week late.

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Wed 27-Nov-13 21:21:56

Fly

I know, I'd like one on its due date.smile
all of mine were late (DS2 wins with being 14 days over) - except for DS4 who was very last minute ELSC and only 5 days early!

coco808 Wed 27-Nov-13 21:55:01

justhayley how exciting....good luck grin that would be quite a news for your DH when he return

donna did they say how far along you were?

welcome fly

liquid that made me lol...bless you!

justhayley Wed 27-Nov-13 22:06:14

Thanks everyone smile

Hi Fly,
You decided to take the plunge over here then grin how you feeling?

Doctor let's hold hands for the next week & a half, it's such a scary & long time. Hope everything turns out well for you.

Haha great way to announce pregnancy, I'd like to vomit on my MIL but that's another story lol.

I told my mum today. Wasn't planning on just yet, but was chatting away to her on the phone and it just came out. She was ridiculously excited, she actually asked if me, DP & DS want to move in when/if the twins come ........ Er no, love my mum but Jesus Christ I'd have to have 8 babies and 10 dogs before I considered that one lol.

jaykay987 Wed 27-Nov-13 22:21:39

FX doctor. Hopefully you're just much earlier than you first thought.

jaykay987 Thu 28-Nov-13 06:09:27

So I decided to purchase some maternity jeans and work trousers so I can feel a bit more comfortable. I'm still going from days my trousers are big, to days they can't do up, so it's only bloat (I'm only 8w+5).

Having established no one stocks them, I opted to do a big next delivery to store in a variety of sizes, so I could try on and return the remainder immediately.

I think I am finally losing the plot!

I managed to get them delivered to a store with no changing rooms! I then get it all home - open it up and Id ordered one pair of work trousers and 9 - YES NINE! - pairs of jeans!!!!!

Seriously - what mental state was I in when I did that?!

On the plus side, work trousers fitted. Unfortunately Id ordered 5 pairs of jeans, four in two sizes, and the fifth in one size. You guessed it - the best ones were the ones that Id only got in one size - but I need the other size. Happy I found something though.

If anyone else starts looking - I cannot believe Ive had to go get them so early - the side panel next jeans are nice and look like 'real' jeans. The ones with an expandable band all the way round are more like joggers in jean material and look sack like. I had to go down a size to normal as they came up big. They have lots of adjustable bits inside though, as well as the elastic panels, so hopefully they'll last me for a good while. Main negative is the front pockets are all fake. No idea why. Quite annoying.

jaykay987 Thu 28-Nov-13 06:11:08

.....and another thing.....

If I'm already going to be in mat clothes already (albeit part time whilst my bloat goes up and down) I have no idea how I think I'm going to get away with hiding this tummy from work until mid feb! DH thinks I'm delusional and bonkers! grin

DoctorDonnaNoble Thu 28-Nov-13 07:09:50

Feeling a little better today. Her scan made me a week behind which at just 6 weeks would theoretically just be long enough to maybe see. I've also worked out that if there was definitely nothing there she would have told me to go to the EPU as soon as possible. So I'm crossing my fingers here. It does make a little bit of sense to me that I should be less far along so hopefully that is the case. Also, my bladder was apparently really full and kept getting in the way. The transvaginal scan did show a lovely pregnancy sac in a perfect position with a lovely thick endometrium so I suppose that's all good news whatever the outcome. I'm trying to look at the bright side of all scenarios at the moment. If this is all a cruel trick at least I'll be able to drink beer when I'm in Belgium over Christmas! DH has been lovely. Keeps sending me nice texts when he's at work.

ItsAlwaysBetterOnHoliday Thu 28-Nov-13 07:20:43

Fingers crossed for you both DoctorDonna and Hayley. Hope everything works out.

Jaykay - I'm aiming to hide it from work for as long as possible too. Not showing yet, but last night we had work drinks + I think a few people were a little suspicious of my "I'm not drinking tonight because I'm not feeling well" (true, I had nausea and a cold!) excuse. Not sure how I'm going to make it through Christmas party season...

baggyoldcow Thu 28-Nov-13 07:21:32

Hello all, I've been posting on the August thread lately but really I should be on here, as my due date is firmly in July.

Excited to read hayley's news...looks like we are in the same boat! I had an early scan on Tuesday because of pink spotting and I too came up with twins! They are also 5.5 weeks so we're at the same stage. I had no heartbeats either as they're too small so I've got to back in 10-14 days for another scan, but they looked ok, the sonographer said.

I have to say, I'm rather frightened by the thought of a twin pregnancy, and then the resultant 5 children I'll have! Am seeing the ob/gyn this morning for a follow-up and hopefully some reassurance that it's not that bad carrying two...smile

Pearlsaplenty Thu 28-Nov-13 08:04:46

doctor sorry to hear you're now in limbo, my fingers are crossed it all works out.

jaykay grin good to hear you found something to wear! Maternity clothes are a nightmare to find, I've dug my old ones out and hopefully won't need to buy too much this time. Last time I managed without a coat or jeans, which seem the most expensive/ difficult to fit items. I think I will need to buy a swimsuit this time so I can keep swimming with ds, I think that will be a daunting challenge!

Pearlsaplenty Thu 28-Nov-13 08:05:47

Welcome baggy how exciting twins!! grin

snowpink Thu 28-Nov-13 08:05:52

I've given all my mat clothes away because I thought we were done!

snowpink Thu 28-Nov-13 08:08:06

I had another bleed this morning so feeling very down. Had loads with DS2 and was told I'm miscarrying, then pregnant with twins and then finally a heartbeat! I just don't want all that drama again!! Not sure when to go for another scan, next appointment is not until 23.13.

Pearlsaplenty Thu 28-Nov-13 08:20:42

snow do you mean 23.12? That is a long time to wait. How many weeks are you?

snowpink Thu 28-Nov-13 08:25:17

6 weeks today.
I probably go on Monday if I can convince my mum to stay that long so she can look after the kids. I just want a conclusive result; with ds2 they once told me "your womb looks fairly messy". What is that supposed to mean?! But not sure if I'll survive the weekend either without knowing.

Pearlsaplenty Thu 28-Nov-13 08:35:16

Yes that is a ridiculous things to say to a pregnant woman hmm can't you go tomorrow if your mum is here now? Over 6 weeks means you should get a scan I thought. Good luck flowers

LemonLovely Thu 28-Nov-13 09:19:43

Got my booking appointment yesterday (for 18th Dec) so feeling pleased I'm officially in the system! Expect scan will be in the New Year.

Am 7+5, and having a private scan on day of week 9 as we're meeting in laws that day, and all going well will tell them then. My mum knows, but is sworn to secrecy, but want to tell my dad in person at Xmas.

Had really hoped to be able to tell other people at Xmas (I'm from another country, and so will be home with all my relatives and friends around). Judging from how big I am already though, and the fact I won't be drinking, I'm sure every one will guess!

Starting to wonder if I'm in twin camp too (grandmother was fraternal twin, and FIL is also fraternal twin) as showing much more than I'd expected at this stage. Oh well, a week and a half and I'll find out!!

liquidstate Thu 28-Nov-13 13:51:01

MIL fortunately understood and since we have had a bereavement in the family this week she is keeping quiet as she knows its not the time to announce it. Am very bloated and anti sick drugs not working so also wondering if I am carrying twins (very common in my mums family).

Have been in bed since yesterday but I have to go shopping as I need clothes for the funeral and an event on Saturday. Nothing fits!

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Thu 28-Nov-13 14:12:35

liquid

sorry to hear about family bereavement sadthanks

I hope you can find something to wear.

I was going to post earlier about places to shop for good maternity clothes - H&M is my favourite, Next, Mothercare, Blooming Marvellous are all good too.
once you know your size Ebay is your friend!

also sorry about your sickness - I hope you will be ok at the funeral and generally.

ismarah Thu 28-Nov-13 16:41:51

I had to have a H&S meeting at uni yesterday where I was all adult and cocky and needed no extra time, thank you!

You know what happened of course. Managed to eat a dodgy sandwich for dinner and gave myself food poisoning! Spent the tensest hour ever driving home at little old lady speeds, every muscle in my body clenched because I was NOT going to be sick on the verge! Miraculously managed to get home, all my bits in the door and straight into the bathroom. DH was nonplussed until it became obvious why...

So spent about 12hrs being violently ill in all possible ways and not sleeping a wink. Then got hold of GP and NHS direct and have drugs! sleep! an appetite!

And a probable mitigating circumstances panel on Monday instead of the assessment I'm supposed to have :-(

My mum's coming over on Wednesday to celebrate my MA with us and I may have nothing to celebrate. Suspect I can soften the blow by telling her about bean - which I wasn't going to do just yet as the woman can't keep a secret to save her life and we'd like to tell both sets of parents at the same time, after scans.

Bean seems to be fine. Suspect bean to be a considerate little bean and quite self-sufficient. I've been nauseous and queasy but no vom yet from bean, which has been good with work deadlines.

mummystein Thu 28-Nov-13 16:45:41

hi there everyone I am new to the group. Hope everyone is coping well with early pregnancy. It's been an eye opening experience for me so far! xx

DoctorDonnaNoble Thu 28-Nov-13 16:51:23

So we have symptom progress. Nausea has been worse all day, saliva's gone into overdrive. Just spent 5 mins retching over toilet (tmi - sorry), brought up tiniest bit of sick. Still feel sicky but doesn't seem to be anything to come up. I'm going to see this progression as a good thing - I clearly still have the hormones of a pregnant lady - but please keep fingers crossed and if anyone is that way inclined a few prayers couldn't hurt.
Thanks for the support so far - you lot are great.

AuntieMaggie Thu 28-Nov-13 16:59:58

ismarah it normally takes a few hours for food poisoning to take hold so it may have been pregnancy related (fil is an expert on the subject due to his job and would look symptoms and stuff in his books when I was ill... so I def won't be able to use that excuse!)

Ok day except having to run for train - why do they only announce the platform 5 mins before departure at paddington?

I've got a family day on Sat...gonna bw hard not to say anything!

snowpink Thu 28-Nov-13 17:03:20

I will have to leave I'm afraid. I miscarried today at 6 weeks. I wish everyone a good pregnancy and might see you on another thread in the future. This one was a complete surprise but dh and I decided to try actively for a third.

AuntieMaggie Thu 28-Nov-13 17:06:40

Really sorry to hear that snowpink - take care flowers

DoctorDonnaNoble Thu 28-Nov-13 17:10:29

snowpink I'm sorry to hear your news sad flowers

teaandkittens Thu 28-Nov-13 18:44:39

I'm really sorry snowpink thanks

On the train for an overnight work stay. I really don't want to go! At lunch time today my sandwich made me feel sick and I'm worried ms is kicking in and I'll be alone and away from home (fear of vomiting here, it's great in pregnancy hmm )

have two bottles of ginger beer but I'm too scared to eat...But I know eating will help. Argh I'm such a loser!!

Just need to get through tonight and tomorrow and then it'll be ok...No more trips, no more alone bed times.

Yes I am an adult!

fifi669 Thu 28-Nov-13 18:56:37

snowpink sad

DoctorDonnaNoble Thu 28-Nov-13 19:08:38

teaandkittens - you'll be fine. It is hard, I'm not quite at the fear of being sick level but I do really, really hate it. You can do this. Sipping the ginger should help. Hope it goes well.

insideout Thu 28-Nov-13 19:25:41

Hello can I join please went to the dr this morning s I have been unwell. Was convinced I was not pregnant as I had the coil! Nope its gone! So I am either 5 weeks or 9 weeks , final year at uni, getting married in october. 2014 is goning to be a crazy year. On the plus side fiance is thrilled!

mummystein Thu 28-Nov-13 19:28:51

Teaandkittens - try and nibble on some ginger biscuits and just to ease the worry of being sick on a train just take a little bag or something just encase. If you have to be sick then your ready for it. Its difficult but you will get through it.
I had to take today off work because I felt way way to sick and dizzy to go in. You have to look after yourself and your little bean. Good luck xx

teaandkittens Thu 28-Nov-13 19:47:25

Thanks doctor and mummy Nice reassuring names!!

I am nearly in London now just need to get to my hotel and then i can think about what to eat. Maybe I'll get room service and watch TV in bed! trying to view tonight as a treat rather than a struggle lol but I'm not convincing myself.

At least I'm well prepared-two bottles of ginger beer, polo mints, some plain hula hoops and two packs ginger biscuits! MS is not going to get me lol.

AuntieMaggie Thu 28-Nov-13 19:51:35

teaandkittens what do you do?

Bland carbs and diet coke have been my friends when feeling queasy which happens when I'm hungry atm

mummystein Thu 28-Nov-13 20:03:23

That sounds like a plan. Room service and tv in bed. .... I wonder if I can get that kinda service at home from the hubby hehe x

Babymamatobe Thu 28-Nov-13 20:19:28

Well today I got my booking in appt (31st Dec) and my scan (14th Jan) too excited now!!!!

mummystein Thu 28-Nov-13 20:38:01

Babymamatobe Thu 28-Nov-13 20:40:19

I'm due 27th July. I got my pg confirmed with my GP and they've done the rest for me.

fifi669 Thu 28-Nov-13 20:48:23

mummystein I'm due 10th and have my booking in appointment tomorrow....

coco808 Thu 28-Nov-13 20:50:05

MrsB2013 Thu 28-Nov-13 21:24:21

So sorry Snowpink sad

teaandkittens Thu 28-Nov-13 21:32:37

auntie can't say cos I'm paranoid someone will recognise me and I haven't told anyone I'm pg yet!! It's not exciting though lol.

I'm in my hotel room, cried on phone to dh, manned up and have ordered chicken burger and chips to my room...nice and bland!

Just wish there was something decent on Tv...I'm watching the lovely ottolenghi but tbh food progs aren't really my thing at the mo.

Oh and to whoever asked about booking appointments (sorry can't see on phone) my surgery do them at 9 weeks. mines on the 16th exciting

Just caught up with everything!!

Hayley and Doctor I hope your next scans show healthy little beans for you both flowers

Jaykay that's so annoying with the maternity clothes! How can a clothes shop have no changing rooms?! I'm not looking forward to shopping for new clothes, I find it hard anyway as I'm usually between sizes.

I'm going to ring my local hospital tomorrow and if they have my notes I should be able to book my scan! Still trying to decide on having the Harmony test done, DH thinks we should wait till after the NHS scan and see what the results are hmm

Hope the sickness disappears soon for those suffering!!

PintandChips Thu 28-Nov-13 21:57:50

Hello!
Can i get on this bus? Due 1 July - am 9+3. Already have 1 7yo DS and am 43... any other oldies on here?
Thinking about getting that Harmony bloodtest as am so ancient but should i wait until after 12 week screening to see those results?
Didn't worry about this stuff at all with the last one.
Also, i hate everyone and cry all the time, is that normal?
Pint.

jaykay987 Fri 29-Nov-13 06:19:35

Snow - so sorry to hear your news. Hope you have the support you need. Look after yourself.
Coco - lots of nice dresses around that either have the swirl of material at the hip that hide a multiple of sins! Also the skater style dresses strut out at the waist - that I think make the smallest girl look pregnant! So when I see someone in one of those I always think......that dress makes her look pregnant ( and mentally note to avoid that style) - I never actually think they might be! grin
Pint - I'm booked in for Harmony at 10w. We were going to wait til 12w scan first, but fmc offer a discount if you go between 10w-10w+6. Not sure if you're in London, but this convinced USO do it early plus it fit better with my impatience as I still haven't got my nhs can date through
Mrsb - thanks for the list. You are much better at updating than the rest of us! smile
Tea - hope your chicken burger was good and your night was ok. I hate being in a hotel alone (I do it a lot for work) and have only done three sequential nights since my BFP and found it horrendous. So I hope you're ok, and get through the day and home ASAP!

jaykay987 Fri 29-Nov-13 06:20:19

USO = us to!

DoctorDonnaNoble Fri 29-Nov-13 06:35:46

Went to bed at half 7 last night. Still feel like I need to spend the day in bed. But, it's a full teaching day with 3 exam classes so off I go!

mummystein Fri 29-Nov-13 06:38:15

Bit worried this morning. I've woken up and feel. ..... fine. No morning sickness.... boobs dont hurt as much either. I felt so so I'll yesterday. ... Now this. I am hoping that this isn't a bad sign sad

Pearlsaplenty Fri 29-Nov-13 06:38:18

ismarah I hope you're feeling better today!

coco I think it depends on your body shape, you need to try and balance out the bump iykwim, so I find shorter skirts work for me. My boobs don't seen to grow much in pregnancy so I found wearing a push-up bra/chicken fillets helps to balance me out well in early pregnancy. Definitely nothing fitted.

I had thought I had seen the end of the ms, but no nausea + vomiting has returned today, hopefully it settles down for the rest of the day. I'm still having issues on/off with diarrhoea, yesterday I had to run to the toilets and left my shopping trolley behind mid-shop! blush

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Fri 29-Nov-13 07:10:02

pearl

what's ms?

pint I'll be 40 next August - is that oldie enough for you?grin
I'll be in the high risk care unit when giving birth (various reasons) - hope that makes you feel better.

Pearlsaplenty Fri 29-Nov-13 07:13:34

Ms = morning sickness, did I just invent that acronym? grin

SmallOlympianBear Fri 29-Nov-13 07:26:42

Snow, so sorry for your news.

Wave to pint, congrats! I am 41 and have booked to do Harmony test. Didn't worry last time for some reason (and she's 17 months so arrived when I was 40). Feeling too sick to be angry with anyone this time!

Doctordonna, good luck today, push on through for the weekend. Been meaning to say, love the name change smile

DoctorDonnaNoble Fri 29-Nov-13 07:32:09

Thanks! She's my favourite. I'm pushing on through at the moment. Now thinking just need to get through next 7 days and then I'll know. Telling myself there are positives whatever. Either I've got a bean that's younger than I thought. Or, I'm able to enjoy Christmas to the full and get knocked up in January. At least I know that we can get pregnant; what will be will be.

Pearlsaplenty Fri 29-Nov-13 07:43:47

doctor another benefit I found with being in limbo was that when I got my all clear it seemed that all of a sudden I was a lot further on in my pregnancy and could see the end of the first tri! I don't know why but that's what happened for me grin have a great Friday smile

DoctorDonnaNoble Fri 29-Nov-13 07:45:42

Thanks Pearl. I get what you mean. It feels like I'm on pause at the moment so if all is well I'll have fast forwarded a bit!

Pearlsaplenty Fri 29-Nov-13 07:48:06

Yes you've explained it better! Just like I was on pause, and all of a sudden I jumped forward in time. And I think that is a good thing actually as in the first trimester as it can drag on smile

mummystein Fri 29-Nov-13 08:08:42

Agreed with pearl. The first tri seems so long

DoctorDonnaNoble Fri 29-Nov-13 08:21:22

I'm just pleased symptoms are progressing. That's got to be a good thing, yes?

BlueC2 Fri 29-Nov-13 08:45:11

Morning all- just feeling so sick and so tired this morning and have SO much to get done today sad I love DS with all my heart but this week has been such hard work with him not well enough to go to the childminders so with me every day and up half the night each night too! Have somehow managed to get some work done in between everything and we have family arriving tomorrow so been trying to get some DIY finished-my 3 days without DS were so well planned so today would be calm but now it's going to be a manic (nausea filled) rush before a crazy early morning at the airport tomorrow sad so sorry for the moan just feel a bit fragile with it all! On plus side I have a scan on Monday afternoon and yes doctor symptoms are good as keep telling myself!! And breathe let's see if I can sneak in the shower before little man wakes up?!

jaykay987 Fri 29-Nov-13 09:22:16

Urgh.....busy days are really hard work aren't they? This week has been so manic, but hopefully today I can slow down a bit. I'm feeling so nauseous....so hope that'll ease up soon. I'm 9w tomorrow so fingers crossed Ill see a change soon.

Time is seriously dragging! I got my BFP when I was three weeks, so I guess it's been a long time to keep my mouth shut! (Though at the time I thought Id got my BFP so late!)

I am currently counting down the days until my scan (11days 3 hours!grin)

Good luck to everyone with a busy day!

museumworker Fri 29-Nov-13 09:29:40

Hello all, quick update from me. Saw Dr last week and asked for referral to UCH. May transfer locally when further down the line but close to childcare.
Have been hit by terrible ms, took yesterday off as cried at thought of getting in shower. It is lasting all day from minute I wake up. Ginger biscuits making it worse. Any suggestions?
Have private viability scan today at FMC (7 +6) as starting to show already so want to know all ok before tell people/they guess!

FlyLikeABird Fri 29-Nov-13 09:40:05

Just catching up with everyone's posts. I'm so sorry to hear snowpink's bad news. I hope she has all her loved ones looking after her sad

Very excited with all these possible twins baggy hayley and possibly lemon! There are twins at the baby group I go to and they are just fab.

liquid sorry to hear of your bereavement, I hope the sickness is a short term thing.

ismarah congratulations on your MA, I hope everything gets sorted in time and your sickness bug is a one off.

zing please don't tell me 3 of yours were late, I am hoping for a 37 week birth this time grin I have been advised to any future inductions as I reacted very quickly to the drugs last time, very quick VERY painful birth!

jaykay you've just reminded me of the hell that is trying to find maternity bottoms that fit AND stay up, hope you get the size you need.

Pint I'm 33 and feel like an oldie, does that count? Ha, the hatred, I had that for a few weeks in my last pregnancy, I don't know how I did't stab a certain colleague! I know of someone who used the FMC recently and were very happy with the service there.

I hope you all get your scans as soon as possible and have happy results. Last time I couldn't even allow myself to believe I could possibly have a live healthy birth until the 20 week scan. I'm trying to be a bit more optimistic this time as it is really draining to feel so anxious all the time. I don't know if there anything you can do though, you feel what you feel. I'd love to embrace pregnancy and birth but for me it is such a worrying time. When people ask if you are excited I would think are you mad! I did tell them this too but in the end just lied and said yes because no one wants to hear that you aren't having the time of your life hmm

I saw the GP on Wednesday (5+4) as I've only had one AF since stopping breastfeeding completely and wasn't completely sure if it was an AF or early bleeding. Who knows, the GP didn't seem to be too fussed. Anyway she referred me to the community MW team who will do the full booking in and get a scan organised. It just seems to early to do things but I know Christmas can cause delays in the scanning department and I don't want to miss the window for the nuchal scan as I had quite a low score last time (DD was fine though!).

jaykay987 Fri 29-Nov-13 09:47:50

Good luck museum. I had my early scan there (I was confident I was 7 w (as I was temping) but they measured me as 5w+6) and they were great.

Mrsc020987 Fri 29-Nov-13 10:38:14

Quick update from me, booked in on Monday, got my scan date yesterday 23 December, what a Christmas present so excited 3 weeks on Monday, hoping the festivities make it go much quicker its dd's first Christmas so many things to do and Santa's to see!

Morning sickness has not improved despite the anti sickness meds, feel awful and poor dd hasn't been to gymboree or swimming in a few weeks, guilt plus hormones equal an emotional wreck on top of trying to get through this sickness!! Sorry for the moan!!

Congrats to newbies and twins, so exciting!

mamachelle Fri 29-Nov-13 11:10:48

Hi all, can i join too pls?

I am 8+1 with dc5, due july 10th. Morning sickness kicked in today and spd made an appearance in the night. I was expecting both but was actually horrified by their arrival lol

have a good day smile

AuntieMaggie Fri 29-Nov-13 11:17:13

I am going to burst if I don't tell someone soon. Theres a really lovely girl at work who is about 6 months and she was just chatting to someone next to me and I had the urge to just blurt it out but stopped myself!

8+5 today - this is going so slowly!

Pearlsaplenty Fri 29-Nov-13 11:25:46

I've told a couple of people now, just friends who are not friends with other friends iykwim. Just to limit people accidentally telling other and it spreading that way. Just in case it goes wrong then I don't need to unannounce it to the world.

jaykay987 Fri 29-Nov-13 12:33:58

Auntie - I'm with you. I'm 8w +6 and bursting to tell anyone! grin

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Fri 29-Nov-13 12:44:05

fly

actually 5 of mine were late! grin
DS1 + 2
DS2 + 14
DS3 & DD both + 6
DS5 + 9

only DS4 was early - he was ELSC (but only 5 days early)

elliejjtiny Fri 29-Nov-13 13:50:57

So sorry snowpink

My oldest 3 were all late and then DS4 was early (35w) so who knows when this one will turn up. I'm hoping not as early as DS4. DH has told his mum and dad. I don't think I'll be telling my family until after the 20 week scan.

PintandChips Fri 29-Nov-13 14:24:10

Thanks for the welcome everyone - so i'm definitely the most ancient, but glad to see i'm not the only over-40!

Desperate to get my scan done (booked for Dec 19th) just so i can tell everyone. i feel like i look huge already. Am beyond tired too - keeping up appearances at work is exhausting. Having said that, I've got NO sickness so i guess i'm one of the lucky ones...

MrsA2 Fri 29-Nov-13 15:18:51

Hi all, sorry I've been offline for a few days - work has been hectic and I have been so shattered! Just got back from my scan and so far all looks good, heartbeat is flickering away and little one was waving a foot around and jiggling about all over the place, so amazing.

They calculated my due date as 5 July (8w6) - I'd half expected to go back few days so all seems about right.

Still planning to wait til my 12 scan before telling people but am going to let my sister know next weekend (she'd be suspicious of no drinking anyway) and I suspect we'll let our parents know before then too, we'll see...

Exciting twin news over the last few days! Hope time goes quickly for those awaiting follow up scans.

PintandChips - love the name! We share a due date!

MrsA great news on the scan!

I have my 12 week scan date!! 18th Dec, so not too long to wait. I've also got an appointment in Jan with the Consultant MW, to talk about my fears of pregnancy and birth.

MrsA2 Fri 29-Nov-13 15:53:48

Ooh MrsB your scan date is the day before mine - glad they are before Christmas.

I'm so glad it's before Christmas! Thought I'd struggle getting an appointment, but they had loads! I'll be 12w+1 going on LMP or 12w+4 going on my early scan measurements, so will be interesting if they move my due date.

MrsA2 Fri 29-Nov-13 16:04:15

I know, I was surprised too - I thought the Christmas break might delay things. Not too long to wait now I guess... But this first few weeks are going SO slowly.

DoctorDonnaNoble Fri 29-Nov-13 16:18:50

I'm not sure how I got through today but I did. Spent every gap between lessons dry-retching in the toilets. It feels awful - I'd almost rather be actually be sick!

HomeIsWhereTheGinIs Fri 29-Nov-13 18:13:22

On the train and fighting nausea at overwhelming smell of acetone (there's a woman doing her nails here). Yuck. Also, MNHQ please could you add a shortcut button to the app so you can jump to the end of the thread on your phone?

Oh god, I thought nausea and tiredness affected me badly in 1st pregnancy, but when you have a toddler to look after it's so much harder!

Haven't even been on to the midwives yet, still procrastinating. Is there a deadline for booking in?

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Fri 29-Nov-13 18:21:32

I seem to have diarrhoea every morning, but had to 'run' again an hour ago.
I'm scared to fart in case of a follow through.

anyone else or only I'm blessed with this shit? (literally)

homels if you bookmark the last post you read it will jump you to there

JuiceInAWineGlass Fri 29-Nov-13 18:47:47

Hi - big sympathies to everyone having a rough time at the moment and fingers crossed for everyone waiting for news.

Had my booking appt today and now feel much more official- EDD 12 July. Midwife was really lovely and very reassuring and answered all my first-timer questions without making me feel paranoid or completely naive!

Spending the afternoon of my day off trying to find a dress that a) fits b) doesn't make me look pregnant/ fat/ like I have the biggest boobs in the world and probably now the wrong bra and c) doesn't look like I have terrible taste and no idea what suits me - was completely impossible. I was hoping to find something to cover me for a friends wedding and a family christening without starting anyone talking - no chance. Perhaps it will be really cold and I can just keep my coat on for both??? Only glimmer of smugness coming from the fact that by some miracle my smallest black dress still works and therefore will get me through the office Christmas party - distracting people from any podge by its sheer smallness and some sparkly shoes! Honestly- you'd think we all had enough to deal with without having to leave the house looking like real people as well...

coco808 Fri 29-Nov-13 20:55:21

Thanks jaykay and pearl- i might try and find a short skater dress/skirt
I've got a scan booked tomorrow...eeekkkkk....soooooo anxious! Praying everything will be OK

Pearlsaplenty Fri 29-Nov-13 21:07:07

zing yes I have the diarrhea. More so than vomiting. Did you have it with your previous pregnancies?

ismarah Fri 29-Nov-13 22:38:45

Well. I spent most all of yesterday asleep once I'd emptied everything everywhere ever out. Felt much much better this morning if still a bit fragile. Managed to go in and do loads of work so for the time being we are sticking to my assessment point on Monday, which is both awful and awesome.

Interesting to see how many people worry about the birth, which I'm not, so much. I'm expecting blood, gore and pain. I can cope with that, although DH might not so much. The thing that really freaks me out is actually the idea of breastfeeding. I 'blossomed' very early and was bullied for the size of my breasts (among other things - any excuse, really) and I've always felt a bit cow-like with these massive udders, so to speak. For me to accept them and even feel slightly sexual or sexy with them took a really long time. Even if I know that breastfeeding is what they are for - I don't want to give up my ownership of them, which is kind of what it feels like. I will of course do it, but I feel very conflicted.

I also don't want to be like my MIL who refers to her husband as 'dad' to me - and he refers to her as 'mum'. It's a contraction of 'your dad / mum' but I just feel like it removes personhood a bit. Probably I am being picky but I am 36 and I am a person in my own right. I don't want to be just 'mum' to my bean - I want bean to see me as a person. Once bean understand such things, obvs.

fifi669 Fri 29-Nov-13 23:22:25

I've got the shits too! blush

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Fri 29-Nov-13 23:26:17

MrsA2 Sat 30-Nov-13 07:31:30

Ismarah I completely get where you are coming from. I definitely intend to breastfeed, it's clear it's better for the baby if I can, but I have to admit that I'm not looking forward to it. Being completely honest, I can't see how it doesn't completely desexualise your breasts forever...?

But I guess I'll just go with it and hope it all makes more sense once you get started and baby is here...

(Why can't I sleep beyond 5.45 these days)

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Sat 30-Nov-13 07:33:57

MrsA

with DS2 my breasts were huge.
DH could hardly keep his eyes/hands off and used to call me Pamela (Anderson)
grin

I think you'll be fine!wink

DoctorDonnaNoble Sat 30-Nov-13 07:36:57

Feeling a little resigned today. But planning for what we'll do next. Still praying that there is a little bean in there but think I have to face facts that it's unlikely.

MrsA2 Sat 30-Nov-13 07:46:24

Haha thanks Zing

MrsA2 Sat 30-Nov-13 07:47:50

Best of luck DoctorDonna - when is your next scan? Thinking of you. The fact you still feel so sick does sound positive x

DoctorDonnaNoble Sat 30-Nov-13 07:50:03

Scan's on Friday. Feel less sick today. But I have stuck to very beige foods over the past day!

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Sat 30-Nov-13 07:57:29

doctor

feeling sick or not is absolutely no indication of baby's health/MC etc.

if that's the only reason you think there might be a problem please, please stop worrying!

I was really nauseous and physically sick almost daily with the baby I MCd, but with DS5 the sickness went away for a week, then returned and with DD I only actually puked twice and felt much less nauseous then any of the others!

some people are never sick.
some are so bad they need hospital care.

I don't know if any this puts your mind to rest, but I hope it does.

thanks and big hugs

DoctorDonnaNoble Sat 30-Nov-13 08:00:15

That's not why zing. They couldn't find anything in sac on scan but came up as earlier in pregnancy than I thought. Viability scan next Friday. Hormones clearly think I'm pregnant - that's as much as I know at the moment.

MrsA2 Sat 30-Nov-13 08:01:40

So tough doctor to have to wait - I hope this week goes quickly and you get reassurance on Friday

DoctorDonnaNoble Sat 30-Nov-13 08:02:33

At least I'll know one way or another.

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Sat 30-Nov-13 08:12:18

sorry, I forgot about that blush

how many weeks were you/were you supposed to be at that scan?
was the sonographer surprised/worried about the result?

(with DS3 I had an internal scan to determine how far along I was and he was 6 + 5.
At that point only a white round circle was visible, which was the yolk sack - and that was a normal result)

it is a long wait until next Friday, I agree. poor you.thanks

grobagsforever Sat 30-Nov-13 08:13:06

Hi all. Not been on for a while. Feeling rotten. Sick, tired and tearful. To those worried about breastfeeding, I fed DD for 2 years, I promise you can still feel the same way about your breasts. Cannot wait for first trimester to be over.

DoctorDonnaNoble Sat 30-Nov-13 09:11:10

No yolk sac visible but scan said I was 5 +2. Will be 6+5 on scan day. The woman was non-committal. Said it was too early to give a definite response. Hope for best; prepare for worst.

fifi669 Sat 30-Nov-13 09:11:54

doctor with DS they saw nothing at a 6 week scan and I prepared myself for the worst.... Then there he was at the 8 week! It's a stressful time, but think positive!

BrightonSquirrel Sat 30-Nov-13 11:20:35

Hello everyone,

Is there room for a little one?

This is my first pregnancy and I'm 9wks. Looking forward to the chance to swap stories with you all. So as a starter for 10... I've been pretty sick so far and didn't quite make it through the front door the other day so had to puke behind a neighbour's car. Walking to work the next morning the sight of my own sick make me vom all over my boots.

This is going to be a glamorous experience isn't it?!

Really feel for all those waiting for results and wishing you lots of good luck and good health in your pregnancies.

Pint - my SIL is 43 and gave birth last week. Very healthy little boy and she had a relatively easy four-hour labour. So I guess oldies are goodies!

Brighton

SmallOlympianBear Sat 30-Nov-13 14:14:10

Grobags I hear you. The first trimester is getting old for me and at 8 + 2 it feels like there's still a looong way to go.

Ismarah, I'm sure you'll work out what's right for you and your DC when the time comes. I personally love my boobs for the first time since feeding my DD. Yes, they may be just a little saggier but they are pretty much back to normal now and frankly they rock for having done something amazing!

DoctorDonna I know that the time must be dragging so much. It WILL pass and I really hope you have positive news on Fri.

SmallOlympianBear Sat 30-Nov-13 14:16:05

Oh, and welcome to BrightonSquirrel!

museumworker Sat 30-Nov-13 14:48:33

Drdonna, fingers crossed for Friday for you.
Had scan yesterday at FMC. External.didn't work, so had to have internal which was sore. I have a retroverted uterus, not sure if that makes process worse. Sonographer put me back two weeks to 5+6 (so 6 weeks today) which I don't think is accurate as know when our contraceptive fail was. Think am probably 7 weeks today. Anyway, very early, could see egg, yolk and baby. Heard heartbeat.
Whilst clearly pleased everything ok, am gutted about dates being moved back 2 weeks. Just want to be able to tell people.
Have NHS scan booked for 2 Jan. And didn't feel sick yesterday evening for first time in a week!

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Sat 30-Nov-13 16:28:37

Brighton

glamorous indeed.

reminds me of this in Friends:

Phoebe: "Being pregnant is tough on your tummy"
Joey: "Hey, but at least you got that cool, pregnant lady glow"
Phoebe: "That's sweat. You throw up all morning you'll have that glow too!"
grin

jaykay987 Sat 30-Nov-13 19:26:16

Museum - similar think happened to me - they put me back 8 days.

But remember sperm can live for 5 days plus it can then take a day or two to implant - so don't rule it out completely.

coco808 Sat 30-Nov-13 19:53:51

had my early dating scan today. The specialist midwife put me as 8w + 1 day which is about right! Everything is ok. Saw the flicker of the heartbeat but such a shame didn't get to hear it sad

About the breast feeding I breast fed ds for just over 2 years and my boobs are exactly the same size and perkiness as before. Nipples are a little darker.

justhayley Sat 30-Nov-13 21:12:43

Hiya, how is everyone?
I had a MAJOR freak out last night - ended up posting in the wrong forum entirely. Had 2 tiny spots of brown discharge - they really were tiny and nothing when I wiped & I know brown is usually ok but I couldn't sleep woke up pretty much every hour stressing out and going to the bathroom to see if I was bleeding. I had nothing more or today. Although I also haven't "felt pregnant" today. Was exhausted this morning but almost forgot today. This is driving me insane, i know things can go wrong at any stage but I'm desperate to get to 12 weeks, finding it really hard not knowing if everything is ok with both babies.

I got a date for my booking appointment - December 9th. They give you scan dates then. Part of me wants it to be as soon as possible the other hopes it's after Christmas so if something has gone wrong I don't no & can enjoy it.

Had my 1st alcohol avoiding day today. My friend had a thanksgiving meal/party everyone there was a parent, & have seen me drink so wasn't sure how I was going to manage. First alcohol offer - can I start off with something soft I'm not good at drinking on an empty stomach. grin
Was handed champers for a toast I did the toast & had a sip - then took my drink into another room & left it there. A few times when offered i said im good thanks i have one and randomly pointed to somewhere in the room lol. Then was given wine which I held in my hand all day so knowone else asked as I looked like I had just been topped up, not sure anyone notice grin. Going out with the same group next Saturday so not sure how I'll get away with it again. It a meal so thinking I'll order lime and sodas and pretend I'm drinking vodka, or get wine and get DP to keep guzzling mine which will mean he'l end up pretty legless lol.

ismarah Sat 30-Nov-13 21:42:47

I used to do that at all work functions where I was usually the organiser and preferred to stay sober. Nobody ever noticed if you pour half a glass at a time and every now and then agree to a little top up. Although I was in a boozy industry so maybe other people weren't their usual observant selves.

kim2783 Sat 30-Nov-13 23:21:56

Has anyone else been hit with acne worse than when you were a teenager?

face masks and clearasil are not working! angry angry

DoctorDonnaNoble Sun 01-Dec-13 07:18:08

Not acne, but then I never had acne. I am as spotty as I've ever been. I had a lovely day off feeling sick yesterday. Then I sat down to my breakfast and had to run to the bathroom for a little light retching hmm Meant to go food shopping today. It's going to be difficult.

jaykay987 Sun 01-Dec-13 08:30:26

Ive stopped doing it doctor. Internet delivery every week!
DH is a bit frustrated......when I'm feeling really dodgy the day the order has to go in - I just order exactly the same as last week! grin Thinking about food does not make me feel good at all!

DoctorDonnaNoble Sun 01-Dec-13 08:34:26

As long as I avoid the fresh meat I think I'll be ok. It seems at the moment that bland, nursery food is the way to go for me at the moment. Feeling a lot better after breakfast we'll have to see how long it lasts.

Yes Kim I have ! I generally have bad skin anyway and used to be on anti biotics I stopped taking them ages ago when I knew ttc could be on the agenda as they can cause all sorts of problems . But I think I'm going to have to go back to the doctors this week as it's very bad and really getting me down hmm

museumworker Sun 01-Dec-13 09:19:48

Thanks jaykay, hadn't thought of it like that. Does mean will have ovulated 2 weeks late, but anything's possible!

Justhayley sorry to hear about the spotting. If it's any reassurance, I have 2 friends who bled in pregnancy, one in both. All babies were born fit and healthy. Both friends had early scans at their local hospital for reassurance.

After over a week of constant MS having a respite, feel human again. Exhausted though, especially as ran a charity event last night!

LazyDogJumpedOver Sun 01-Dec-13 12:31:29

Anyone got their 12 week scan date yet? Had booking in appointment on Monday, letter about the scan came on Saturday. It's Thursday 2nd January. My husband is working and can't come but my mum is flying over from Dublin - yey! This is my second pregnancy, we have an 18 month old boy. My parents had a boy then had twins so we are wondering if it will go the same for us!

fifi669 Sun 01-Dec-13 12:43:10

No 12 week scan yet, booking in was only Friday though so it might be asking a bit much!

Having a cheeky early scan today at 4 to stop me worrying.

LazyDogJumpedOver Sun 01-Dec-13 13:09:28

Pop can I ask where people get early private scans? What company/where/how much/recommendations?

LazyDogJumpedOver Sun 01-Dec-13 13:10:02

**ooo not pop!

fifi669 Sun 01-Dec-13 13:21:56

I'm in the southwest so I had a google.... My friend went to www.ultrasound-direct.com/mobile/about.aspx and had a good experience. Early scans are about £100. I found another far less professional looking website but at half the price..... ultrasounddevon.com

I believe the first one is nationwide.

DoctorDonnaNoble Sun 01-Dec-13 13:47:05

My booking in appointment isn't until 16th December (if I get that far) and then dating scan on 3rd January.
I have to say, I wish I hadn't gone for early scan. If I ever have another pregnancy I won't be parting with £100 for it.

Fifi69.....I had an early scan booked at the second place but mc so never had it. I spoke to the chap that does it on the phone and they do them in a village hall.....sounded very strange! I believe he does it as a side line as he was keen to do it on the weekend or in the evening. Are you going there?

BlueC2 Sun 01-Dec-13 14:52:26

Afternoon all. Well DS is now better and slept right through last night for first time in a week smile but now DH has it and seems like flusad he caught hand foot and mouth from DS only a few weeks ago and had just recovered from that so is v v fed up at being ill again. Plus we have my Mum and Step Dad staying with us so I am running about looking after everyone and now feeling utterly exhausted and sick sad Early scan tomorrow but have barely had a chance to think about it!

MrsA2 Sun 01-Dec-13 15:04:04

Hi all, nice weekend here. Today we even managed a bike ride, only 10 miles and I had to stop twice (still so lightheaded) but it was nice to get some fresh air and exercise. Shattered and on the sofa now!

Could really do with a day or two off next week rather than the hectic week I have at work. Oh well, the countdown to Christmas is now on at least.

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Sun 01-Dec-13 15:14:17

I'm 8 weeks tomorrow and haven't got any dates yet.

I'm going to wait for another week then I'll call the hospital to check - all the Christmas mail will start slowing things down but we have to organise our two weeks home.
and as we won't take kids to this scan we need to arrange someone to look after them - I just want to get it all sorted

I feel so sick and the extra snot doesn't help.
and I'm so hungry because I'm eating way less then I normally would because if I eat too much I feel sick.

I hate this bit. I really really hate it.
I haven't actually puked yet but I worry that I will - not only it is horrible as such but as I get pg incontinence I tend piss myself when sick...
which would be humiliating at worse if witnessed in public and bloody inconvenient even at home.

can someone give me one good reason why 6 children weren't enough?
I can't remember why I wanted more!grin

(of course that's just silly.
I'm looking forward to this little cutie as well!)

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Sun 01-Dec-13 15:15:47

and Happy December everyone!smile

MrsA2 Sun 01-Dec-13 15:20:21

Ah Zing I hope you are feeling less sick very soon. I am amazed and impressed that this will be your seventh - I'm sure I'll struggle with one!

AuntieMaggie Sun 01-Dec-13 15:28:39

I have a couple of persistent spots on my chin that have been there for at least a month. And I just can't seem to get my make up right - the foundation just kind of sits on top of my skin. I'm trying to look normal and professional here tchhmm

MW appointment tomorrow... will ask about my scan as I haven't heard anything yet...

mamachelle Sun 01-Dec-13 15:40:38

Zing- that was me on friday morn! Asking dd1 between vomiting to make juice bottles for school and wondering why im doing this again lol we have 6 between us, this is dc7.

I have my 12 wk scan on the 2nd of jan when i will be 13 wks

Any1 experienced pink discharge in early pregnancy? I have had an early bleed before but that was bright red and had me rushing to a+e in a panic. Turned out to be nothing and i now have a 5yr old to show for it. Im just unsure whether to worry atm or not

DoesZingBumpLookBigInThis Sun 01-Dec-13 15:41:58

MrsA

thanks. me too. but I tend to get worse until about 9 weeks when it "peaks" for about 2-3 weeks before it gradually gets better. tchsad

I guess the first baby is a struggle for most, simply because you have no idea what to expect or what the heck you are supposed to do!
It's the fear of the unknown that makes us worried about how we will cope - and I find that still a surprisingly strong emotion!
I mean just how am I going to to get through the summer?
and what about school runs? how on Earth am I going to bf with 3 school runs a day (inc lunchtime playgroup pick up)? and wee need a new car....and organizing all the clothes and getting stuff ready - scary!

for me the first 6 months are the hardest. I remember them as a blurry fog with sweet little memories scattered in them - like the first smile or perhaps the first 5-hour sleep at night.

it's all good though. I can't wait.

BlueC2 Sun 01-Dec-13 16:46:20

So DH just announced that he's not sure he'll be well enough to come to the scan with me tomorrow and that maybe I should take Mum instead!! Now I love Mum to bits but first scan I really want DH there-what if there's a problem? I want to share that with DH not Mum and if everything is fine then it's DH I want to share it with. So trying not to be too fed up with DH as I know he's feeling rotten but am v frustrated! Grrr

MrsB2013 Sun 01-Dec-13 17:38:18

Urgh I've had a dodgy tummy for 3 days now. Don't know if its certain foods not agreeing with me or just a preg symptom hmm

Is anyone else really tired all the time? I had a 3 hour nap today and I'm still tired!

LazyDog I just googled for early scans in my area, mine was £75 from 8 weeks, an earlier one was £105 I think.

Hope everyone has had a good weekend!

DoctorDonnaNoble Sun 01-Dec-13 17:42:29

I am ridiculously tired ALL the time! Next week is going to be a stressful one at school. And DH is working the 6-2am shift tomorrow, so my sleep will be disrupted. And parents evening on Tuesday. And our year 11 teaching may be observed at some point in the week. confused

Hope everyone's had a good weekend.

Good work on the bike ride MrsA - that puts me to shame, all I've managed is a walk to the pub in search of a roast!

Got through a friend's birthday last night disguising soft drinks as booze. Was all going well (soda water with fresh lime as fake G&T) until we got to the restaurant. I thought I'd been super sly by taking a waiter aside & asking to get a Virgin Mojito every time I ordered a Mojito at the table. Then when drinks appeared waitress announced "one Mojito, no alcohol?" despite the fact it was the only Mojito! I swiped it off her and no one said anything but think they may have heard...

Sorry to hear that Blue. Hope he feels better in the morning. If not maybe it'd help to think this is an early scan and not the big 12 week one? If nothing else I hope your mum can make it so you've got her support.

Aunt Maggie - a few months ago I got bad spots on my chin and found a great video on how to cover them properly (mix of cover-up & powder). Try searching for Sali Hughes' video on make-up for acne on the Guardian website. It's ace.

Good luck getting through the sickness Zing - I've found it worse than I expected (tend to be sick about 3 times a day) but weirdly getting used to it now. Like you say I guess the fear of things is often worse than the reality!

MrsA2 Sun 01-Dec-13 18:03:47

6pm is too early for bed isn't it? I'm with you all on feeling absolutely shattered. I'm lightheaded all the time too - I feel like I could faint on 20+ occasions a day.

I've only had limited nausea though so know I shouldn't moan compared to some of you ladies.

This first trimester is really dragging though...

BrightonSquirrel Sun 01-Dec-13 18:10:11

Thanks for adding me to the list Mrs B! I forgot to say but due date is 3rd July.

On the tiredness front, yes! Slept through two David Attenborough programmes this afternoon. Must be that restful voice.

AuntieMaggie Sun 01-Dec-13 18:34:33

Thanks Brighton will have a look.

I have a couple of xmas things this week so will have to try and come up with excuses why I'm not drinking cocktails!

spinning yes I went to the second one. He's a nice man, very chatty etc. I think his 9-5 is sonography and this is a sideline. At this stage I got to see that bean was in the right place, he showed me the the womb lining was nice and thick and it had a good blood supply, he zoomed in so I could see its little heart beating too. He also checked for any other issues like cysts but all was good smile

I had an earlier scan before with DS because of pain, the photos look pretty much the same. When he zooms in its not too clear as I guess his unit doesn't have a high resolution, though there isn't much to see either!

He made an estimate based on measurements taken I'm 7+5 which puts me back 4 days. He said its difficult at this stage as every small error means bigger differences in age so I'll wait for the dating scan to know for sure.

Most important thing is bean is doing well smile

Fifi.....that's great news all is well and good to know he was good! Hopefully I will get a bfp soon and I'll use him for an early scangrin

Can I ask you all about the flu jab?

Are you having it? If so when?

Has anyone had a reaction to it?

I'm not sure if I want to have it confused I know it's recommended but it only protects against flu and not colds. I've had flu a couple of times so I know how bad it is, but I always seem to suffer from really bad colds this time of year.

Hi MrsB, when I got my GP to confirm my pregnancy it was the first thing she did!

I was absolutely fine with it, no reactions other than a sore arm for a day or so.

MrsB I had it the month I conceived - two weeks before I realised. I was quite run down (cold) at the time but still had no side effects.

The baby did not like the car wash. In the car wash there is nowhere to escape without getting very wet.

I've got the flu jab next week. If it protects the baby it's a def I think.

I had no problem with the flu jab- same as Babymama my GP did it when I went into confirm pregnancy. Arm sore for a few days - no-brainer for me.

I got it a couple of weeks ago. No side effects at all - so definitely worth it for me!

Urgh.....anyone dreaming that it's Monday tomorrow?!

Anyone had an early scan at 8 weeks able to jog my memory on whether they can see enough to do external rather than internal scan? Just trying to sort in my head what to expect tomorrow. Thanks!

Re flu jab I also had it when I saw GP to register pregnancy and also just had a sore arm for a few days.

Casmama Sun 01-Dec-13 22:08:30

I had a scan at 7wks (measured6+5) and could see the baby and heartbeat but she wanted to do an internal to get a better look and take some measurements.

Hopefully at 8 weeks an abdo would be fine but tbh the internal was far less uncomfortable than a smear test so I wouldn't worry about it either way.
