ThePFJ Mon 07-Oct-13 21:52:28

Marking my place, thanks ThePFJ

Chip86 Mon 07-Oct-13 22:03:17

Oh bohemond and onefunkymuma i am so sorry to hear your news look after your selfs sending hugs

Marking my place smile

snoozysleeper Mon 07-Oct-13 22:05:39

Oh how exciting, a brand new thread grin

Settling in and passing round cake- diabetic friendly ones included for thistle or anyone else

Thankyou for setting up the new thread thepfj I've never started one - find it strangely nerve wracking

Anyone else's stats thread messed up? Those due at the end of April are now pushed down to the end of May hmm

Chip86 Mon 07-Oct-13 22:08:22

Wow PFJ well done on new thread cant belive we are on thread 4 allready

Sorry to hear some of you are suffering with bad MS

Oh i have an exciting new symptom i have traped a nerve in my right bum cheek grin

Thanks for carrot cake yum yum

ThePFJ Mon 07-Oct-13 22:13:09

Looks like the stats thread is going by the day not the month in order.... I am not sure.. because I didn't set up the tab with the graphs etc on, whether it would be a good idea to try to change them yet.... Maybe we just need to fix the column so it doesn't 'order' the numbers?? I'll take a look - but if anyone can fix it please do!

ThePFJ Mon 07-Oct-13 22:15:37

Nope can't do it... and if we move all the late April ladies up to the top if someone hits 'sort a to z' they will go back to where they are.... hmmm

ThePFJ Mon 07-Oct-13 22:16:49

Chip I would offer to massage your bum.... but then... I probably won't. grin Maybe your OH can assist? wink

Squiffie Mon 07-Oct-13 22:37:26

Finally managed to catch up!

Woohoo to a new thread.

I'm going on holiday on Wednesday for a week I have no idea how on earth I'm going to catch up when I get back?! shock

ThePFJ Mon 07-Oct-13 22:39:16

I just realised you can chat on the stats page!

ThePFJ Mon 07-Oct-13 22:40:34

Don't worry Squiffie, just tell us about your lovely holiday when you get back and ask us for a low down of any important news and we'll catch you up.. you can be totally forgiven for being away. smile

Squiffie Mon 07-Oct-13 22:42:40

Thanks smile

Yeah I think that's the case with the stats thread. I usually go in every few days and move the April people back to the start, but I think when new people's details are added people naturally sort a-z and then the April people get mixed in with the Mays.

Squiffie Mon 07-Oct-13 22:45:07

Chat on the stats page?! How so? confused

Squiffie Mon 07-Oct-13 22:46:20

So if one of us changes the view on the stats page does or change for everyone?

bluestone85 Mon 07-Oct-13 22:51:50

Poorchip that can't be comfortable at all! I have to be honest and say I couldn't help but laugh when I read it though just because of how random it is! Hope it goes away soon! xx

Yes it's editable by everyone which is why when someone adds info we can all see it.

I'm 10+3 today. I seem to have stopped getting period like cramps, but seem to be having mild aches just above my pubic bone. Anyone else feeling like that? Not really pain, more uncomfortable.

Is it just general stretching do you think?

ThePFJ Mon 07-Oct-13 23:09:11

Yes the stats changes for everyone, and you can chat by clicking on the bit at the top that says no other viewer, 1 other viewer or 2 other viewers etc. etc. it brings up a side bar on the right with an online chat box at the bottom........... just found it tonight. grin

ThePFJ Mon 07-Oct-13 23:10:53

I left a message on there for fun. Night girls xxxxxxxxx

Squiffie Mon 07-Oct-13 23:14:51

I'm viewing it on my phone which is perhaps why I can't see it!

Night all anyway! X x

ThePFJ Mon 07-Oct-13 23:28:11

Before I go sleeps - impatiently It's DEFINATELY your uterus stretching. Your uterus is now over twice the size it was and still expanding. Crazy - but weirdly reassuring. xxxx night babes xxx

thistlelicker Tue 08-Oct-13 02:14:39

Awww new thread!!! Can't sleep so shattered!!!

dobedobedo Tue 08-Oct-13 05:21:40

Yah new thread!

In other news, I've woken up with swollen glands, a sore throat and a headache. Ffs! I can't really take anything when I'm pregnant can I? Here's hoping it isn't flu before I've had a chance to get the jab. sad

Hi everyone. Stomach bug over here - can't keep water down atm - feel so sorry for you guys with ms! thanks to you all xx

Magpie78 Tue 08-Oct-13 06:36:06

Morning all! Wishing you all a good day.
Do not want to go to work anymore.........it interferes with my life!!

McRedHead Tue 08-Oct-13 06:44:56

what if we changed the order date is written? Put April 2nd etc rather than numbers then it will sort alphabetically with April first? Don't have time to check though...

FacebookStoleMyLife Tue 08-Oct-13 07:10:42

Oh Dob you poor thing, you can take paracetamol by the way with no worries. A couple of tablets the other night really helped with my headache. It might help you feel a bit more human. FX it's not the flu, perhaps just a sneaky 24hr bug.

And Jess too, get snuggled in bed and I hope it passes quickly for you too.

McRed I think you're right, if we change the formatting on the column to recognise the date format we're all using that should work. But I don't want to mess with it! It's such a great spreadsheet I know I'd screw it up if I tried.

Ah it's an ill thread today. Hope all who are feeling rubbish start to feel better soon.

Re the stats page I think that would work. Someone would need to change the date graph too, but that should be all? I'm working away these next 3 days so don't think I'll get the chance, but hopefully someone else can have a play with it before then.

Cupcake1985 Tue 08-Oct-13 07:46:08

Moomin seems to have my name suggestions on her thread now? I have relocated them back to my name smile off to work now still feeling tired and emotional as usual but still no ms so that's good as I have a busy week at work. Ho hum.

bushprincess Tue 08-Oct-13 08:01:22

Morning all! sorry Jess and Dob that you're feeling ill, how rubbish for you... and hugs to anyone else out there feeling under the weather...

Just been perusing the stats page - some LOVELY name suggestions ladies! DH and I have forbidden ourselves to even discuss names till 12 weeks... but that doesn't mean I've not got a sneaky list up my sleeve wink

PFJ you've got a scan booked in today according to the stats page - let us know what the news is!!

roll on first appointment tomorrow! can't wait!

Managed to get sunburnt swimming yesterday! summer has finally arrived here (but with afternoon thunderstorms as well which is fun)... You guys all had that lovely summer in the UK while I was FREEZING (well ok, a bit of an exaggeration, more like 3 degrees C) so definately my turn now - have decided at least it means I can cut out the Vit D tablets!!

Hope you all have a good day!

AliOh Tue 08-Oct-13 08:12:55

Hi everyone just checking in after a weekend off ... and on a shiny new thread too (really number 4 already?!)

So sorry to hear of the news from onefunkymama and bohemond sad so sad and hugs to you both.

Sorry to have a moan but I've had such an awful weekend. DPs working hours have been cut with absolutely no warning so we are both left wondering how on earth we will manage, I've been confined to the couch with only a sick bowl and water to keep me company and also think my cat is pregnant! Ah we'll hoping if I keep a positive head on then things will turn out ok one way or another (sigh).

Hope everyone is having a better day than me anyway smile

MasterFlea Tue 08-Oct-13 08:29:59

bushprincess I'm so envious of you just starting your summer. Ours was lovely and I miss it already.

I wonder if cats get morning sickness. congrats to Alioh's cat!

dobedobedo Tue 08-Oct-13 08:34:42

There's a cat joining the thread? Meow!

snoozysleeper Tue 08-Oct-13 08:56:11

Morning everyone

Hope mcred and dobe feel better soon!

alioh sorry to hear about your husband's work, I thought they had to give notice for that... Best to carry on being positive and fingers crossed it'll turn out ok. Congrats to your cat grin

wm3010 Tue 08-Oct-13 09:05:48

Morning all, thanks for the new thread. So sorry to see that some members have had bad news. Hope everyone else is managing ok despite symptoms/lack of!

Spirael Tue 08-Oct-13 09:39:59

Ahah, found you all! smile

My booking in appointment yesterday went well. It was mostly paperwork, really. My MW this time around is nice but seems a bit more by-the-book than my previous one. Not necessarily a bad thing!

Means that I'm now under instructions to get some vitamin D tablets, to report to the next Flu clinic and I'm down for the GTT since there's some age related diabetes in my family and my DD was relatively large, given that she was over 2 weeks early.

We also discovered that my blood pressure has dropped through the floor, which explains why I've been feeling quite so rubbish! I've now been told to drink more, increase my salt consumption (a little), get more exercise but try not to stand/move too quickly. Geeh...

At least my BMI was ok, and I was signed off without problem for a home birth! smile She also moved my due date to May 30th from her weird chart thing, but I'll stick with the 31st for now on the stats. We'll see what the scan dates me at.

I told my boss this morning, he was really sweet about it all. I also broke out the maternity trousers to try and stop the pressure on all the delightful bloating and reduce MS. Why didn't I do this sooner? I forgot how comfortable maternity clothing is!!

How is everyone else doing this morning?

BoogiesBunny Tue 08-Oct-13 10:48:20

Hi ladies without symptoms - just checking how you are feeling about things. I spent the last two days really worried about our little one, perhaps it wasn't helped by the sad news on the thread. Curled up on the sofa last night and felt sorry for myself - DH was amazing and has helped me out of the fog a bit. I'm banned from googling anything, and if I want to I am to ask him to do it. I do have some symptoms (the current one being all my spots!) but they are not constant and could be explained away. Being a worrywart and counting the days until the scan (3 weeks tomorrow). I know that the odds are that everything is fine and that I should be thinking how lucky it is to feel so well when so many, including a lot of you wonderful women, are suffering. And perhaps I won't feel so well later on and wish I was back here.

Ramble over.

thistlelicker Tue 08-Oct-13 10:55:31

I've had scans due to poor obstetric history as reassurance! I only had tender boobies !!£ I happy as long as no bleeding or server cramping x

BoogiesBunny Tue 08-Oct-13 11:11:56

Thanks thistle - I had a scan at 6+6 and everything looked just fine. But that seems like so long ago! I read somewhere that worrying during pregnancy is just an indication of how much you love your little one already.

bushprincess Tue 08-Oct-13 11:35:24

Hi boogies sorry you're finding the worry hard to cope with - but I also can't stop thinking I should be feeling more... all being well I'll get a scan tomorrow (9wks) and just can't wait to find out if everything is ok...

Trying to tell myself that the stats suggest about 70-80% of people experience MS so that should leave 20-30 of us ladies feeling ok - hopefully you, thistle and the rest of us symptom-free-ers are just part of that minority!!

gosh, just think how much we'll worry when the little beans actually arrive!!

bushprincess Tue 08-Oct-13 11:37:51

and spirael glad all was well with the booking in, at least the low bp has been spotted and you can start to do something about it and fx with the GTT - when will they do that for you?
and fx you get your home birth wish too!!

We should hear from PFJ in the next hour or so. smile

....about her scan.

NannyPlumForPM Tue 08-Oct-13 12:03:54

I hope it all went well for her!

My kumquat is annoying me today hmm I am irrationally angry at the little bean for churning up my tummy.

I suspect I will have more luck when it is an orange or some such.

So sorry bohemond sad This is quite an unlucky thread!

Chip86 Tue 08-Oct-13 12:25:32

So sorry to hear so many of you are ill get better soon thanks

ahlio congrats to your cat we will put her on stats thread hehehe lets us know her symptoms, sorry to hear about you DH work not what you need at the moment more stress

Last night i shouted at DH then cried because i shouted at him, he looked a bit confused then huged me and said maybe i was tried and should go to bed hehehe think he wanted to get rid of the crazy lady hehehe
Bum still hurts
Sat at work with trousers undone as more comfy blush

Chip86 Tue 08-Oct-13 12:27:28

9 weeks today yay an olive with hands and feet the size of a pea and my utirus is size of an egg wich is a bit disapointing as im so fat....

Spirael Tue 08-Oct-13 12:28:14

I think it'll be about 26 weeks, bushprincess. Just in time for my birthday... They didn't do one for me last time, so I'm not entirely sure what to expect. Anyone else here had one before?

Hopefully you're nearly past the worst of the MS, NannyPlum. smile I found last time mine peaked at weeks 9-10 but then tailed off very quickly after that.

Only 6+3 here... Still got a way to go before MS is likely to ease up, unfortunately! Do you think my work/family/friends would mind if I hibernated for the next month and a bit?

Spirael Tue 08-Oct-13 12:29:27

Move to maternity trousers, Chip! They're so comfy. You won't look back... wink

thistlelicker Tue 08-Oct-13 12:33:46

U know what's scary for me, there's a June thread!!!!

ThePFJ Tue 08-Oct-13 12:37:42

Ok so.......... buggerbuggerbuggerbugger..........

ThePFJ Tue 08-Oct-13 12:40:28

Literally in the last 24hours we lost Little Pea. It is 9 weeks on the scan, and no heartbeat. Having surgery asap to sort everything out. I can't wait at home for my body to catch up.. that could take ages and I am not up for that.. bit too depressing for me.

I have to say... this is the best group in MN history. You girls are completely awesome. Continue being totally awesome, ok? I'll check in now and then...

I am in shock - this was a total surprise..... ergh etc.
Love you all so much - super hugs AND CAKE - ThePFJ xxxxxxxxxxxx

FacebookStoleMyLife Tue 08-Oct-13 15:01:56

PFJ I am so sorry. This is utterly shitty and unfair. I'll really miss you on this thread, you've been a great virtual friend. Please take care of yourself and know we won't be nearly so awesome without you sad

dobedobedo Tue 08-Oct-13 15:47:17

I can't believe how gutted I am over imaginary internet people I've never met! I'll really miss PFJ

We've had so much bad news lately sad

ThePFJ I am so incredibly sorry and so gutted for you, and for us to lose you from this thread.

You've been so supportive and caring to everyone on this thread, I'm so sorry that this has happened.

You seem incredibly strong to deal with the losses that you have. I so hope that everything works out for you next time. Please pop in on us occasionally to let us know how you are doing.

Good luck with the op tomorrow and take care of yourself. Xx

bushprincess Tue 08-Oct-13 17:31:44

Oh PFJ I'm just so so sorry to hear of your loss... if anyone deserved this bean to stick you did after all your previous trouble. You've been such a strong part of this group we're all going to miss you and your shrubbery so much. Good luck tomorrow, stay strong and resume your quest when you feel strong enough
all my love

Flixy102 Tue 08-Oct-13 18:24:28

PFJ You sound like a strong person and I'm sure you'll be on a similar thread afain soon. In the meantime be good to yourself.

Chip86 Tue 08-Oct-13 18:37:56

Oh PFJ i cant belive it i am so sorry for you, its such a shock you deserve to be on this thread all the way through to the end, I will miss you so much on here im sat here crying in disbelive im so sorry for you, your such a lovely lady and your strong you will pull through and get that sticky bean, i will be thinking of you take great care of youself, sending you big hugs xxxx

CbeebiesIsMyLife Tue 08-Oct-13 18:45:09

ThePFJ I am also literally devastated. You've been such a support to me especially over on the other thread. I can't believe this has happened. Please do take care of yourself and take time to grieve. I hope you get your baby soon, you really deserve it x

CbeebiesIsMyLife Tue 08-Oct-13 18:45:29

Hat should say devistates for you.

Magpie78 Tue 08-Oct-13 19:14:57

Will be thinking of you PFJ, look after yourself x

I cant stop thinking about all the sad news we've had on this thread. I feel awful about it and im not even one of the ladies having to deal with the loss.

I'm signing off for the night, I don't feel like moaning about ms or chatring about anything as I feel like I should just be fucking grateful right now.

bouncysmiley Tue 08-Oct-13 19:31:03

So so sorry pfg just been catching up with everyone and can't believe it. How awful. Hugs and stay strong.

PFJ I'm so incredibly sorry. I don't really know what to say, as I know there's nothing I can say that can make this any easier. I've sat here crying in disbelief and through sheer devastation for you. I hope that when you feel strong enough, you're able to come back and read this.

The thread isn't going to be the same without you. All the way through; from when I was petrified of telling my parents to gutted because they reacted badly, to excited and happy but paranoid over the slightest thing, you've been there for me. You've offered sound, fantastic advice coupled with hugs and support every single time, and it's been invaluable, it really has. I'm not sure what I would've done without your advice and support.

You deserve this so much after everything you've been through - and also because you are simply such a genuinely kind, caring person. If we are totally awesome then you are the giver of awesomeness, if awesomeness is even a word. The thread really won't be the same without you, and we're all going to miss you so much.

If you do feel able to come back and let us know how you're getting on, please do - but also, take time to grieve and to heal.

This is turning into a bloody essay now but I'm gutted for you, I really am. If you ever need anything, all you have to do is ask - whatever help I can be, I'll try my hardest. It's the least I can do for everything you've done for me.

Take care lovely. Massive hugs and lots of lovely cake cake

thistlelicker Tue 08-Oct-13 21:01:09

I found myself crying at a program on the telly- then I realised I crying for all u special mummies who now have special angel babies! I feel very blessed and lucky that for now my baby is special to me!

Isean Wed 09-Oct-13 08:14:18

So sorry PFJ, such sad, sad news. Will be thinking of you lots. Look after yourself. xx

I have my "12" week scan today (11+2) because I will be away with work for the next couple of weeks. So scared & nervous I could hardly sleep.

Cupcake1985 Wed 09-Oct-13 08:31:34

So sorry pfj. So sad.

Good luck isean it will go well im sure - dont worry. Put a pic on your profile!

7 weeks today for me.

loopylou52 Wed 09-Oct-13 08:32:49

Wow, this is the thread's first 12 week scan isn't it? Good luck isean. Looking forward to some good news for the Maybies.

Thinking of you today thePFJ.

All went well with my booking in appointment yesterday. There was some protein in my urine apparently so she sent that off to be tested for infection. hmm

thistlelicker Wed 09-Oct-13 08:35:24

I said to my dh last night I hadn't had any stretching pains for a while. Woke up with lots of pains :-(

snoozysleeper Wed 09-Oct-13 08:57:33

thistle is it possible for you to see a doctor today??

Good luck isean!

Good luck Isean! I bet it's such a magical experience.

Thistle I've found that my pains have reduced. Was having fairly regular mild period pains, and now I can't remember the last time I had one of those. My intermittent pains have changed to a different type which I can't really explain but think its my uterus.

What kind of pains have you got today Thistle?

thistlelicker Wed 09-Oct-13 09:09:27

Seeing the doc means I need to be I my death bed and wait two hours!! Pains are just like a mild dull ache right across the tummy! No need for paracetamol they seemed to have died down! Two mornings now I hAve had pins and needles! I think that needs checking now :-(

thistlelicker Wed 09-Oct-13 09:09:52

Ohhhh 10+0 today!! 7 days til booking and scan !!

snoozysleeper Wed 09-Oct-13 09:21:31

Well if pain is getting better then you probably can hold off smile I forget my drs service are good - if I ring for appt there's usually one available same day..
Also as impatiently says you could be experiencing a new type of pain which could be related to your gestation/uterus growth ... Keep a close eye on yourself though!

AliOh Wed 09-Oct-13 09:47:41

Ooooh first 12 week scan! Good luck Isean !

9+2 today and 5 days til booking appt (yay!)

bushprincess Wed 09-Oct-13 09:50:41

thinking of PFJand her op today sad

thistle glad to hear the pains have settled down but do get to a Dr if it gets bad

Isean let us know how your 12 week scan goes - so exciting!

9+0 today and had our first scan!! unfortunately with a rather old, not-so-powerful scanner and had to have a wand up the hoohah (TMI!)... but we saw a little blob with a little heart beat so couldn't be happier! DH is in shock but also allowing himself to feel happy now having been in complete denial over the last 7 wks in case it was lost..

Booking in for a 'proper' scan with a snazzy new ultrasound (not many of them kicking around in Harare these days) in a couple of weeks but for now am popping blobs first photo on the fridge and feeling incredibly grateful and blessed.

Have a good day one and all

bushprincess Wed 09-Oct-13 09:57:30

or make that 5 weeks... though it feels like we've known about it FOREVER!

snoozysleeper Wed 09-Oct-13 10:33:33

Ah bush congratulations on the scan! And seeing your little one's heartbeat grin

loopylou52 Wed 09-Oct-13 10:38:54

Yay bushprincess, great news!

bluestone85 Wed 09-Oct-13 10:49:50

Is waking up with a numb pinky finger normal? It was numb for about 3 hours after I woke up! Was very odd! confused

1 week today until booking appointment. Still feels like a lifetime away. But I'm hoping that it will mean that its only going to be a max of 3 weeks until the scan!

Good luck Isean with scan. It must be very exciting for you!!! Seeing your little bean and its heartbeat. Amazing smile

Hi all - I can't stop thinking about the sadness on this thread - please let there be joy just around the corner for those who have lost their little ones this month. Gosh they will be missed here.

isean so jealous of your scan today - post a picture on your profile so we can meet your wee one!

Got my booking appointment for 23rd October, when I'll be exactly 11 weeks - I just can't wait as I'm so anxious. The next 2 weeks will not go fast enough. Also booked in to start pregnancy yoga on 30th October, after my scan, which I am excited about if only because I think (maybe I'm wrong!) that I'll be feeling more confident and assured by then.

Congrats all those who are 9 weeks today - into week 10 and we have little prunes...

randdom Wed 09-Oct-13 11:07:52

I'm not doing so well. Haven't really been able to keep any food or much water in the last few days. Am off work today and have just been to see the doctor who says that I am really dehydrated. She has given me some antisickness tablets and said that if I am no better tomorrow she might need to send me to the hospital for IV fluids sad I am only 6+6 so far to go sad

On the positive side I have my booking appointment with the midwife on the 29th of October

bluestone85 Wed 09-Oct-13 11:10:04

Bushprincess I'm totally not jealous that you got to see your little beans heartbeat already wink. Glad everything was ok and that your DH does now believe completly that bean is in there! My DH is exactly the same, trying not to get excited until we see it on screen smile x

BoogiesBunny Wed 09-Oct-13 11:22:17

randdom sorry to hear how much you are suffering but glad that the doctor knows and is on top of it. Keep us updated on how you are.

Minions Wed 09-Oct-13 12:07:00

Hello. So very sorry to hear about your sad news bohemond, onefunkymuma and PFJ. I hope that you will soon have good news.

I had my first midwife appt today (11+1), she was lovely and helpful. Took hubby, though he was the only one there.... Was glad he came though for his family history and also just to absorb the masses of info given. Had a carbon monoxide test, urine sample and blood taken. Top tip for urine sample, pee into plastic water cup and then pour into the ridiculously narrow sample tube. Much easier! I threw the cup into the sanitary bin afterwards.

We were also met by a lady advising on dental care (free toothpaste!) who will also visit after baby is born. Hadn't heard of that before. And we were given a pack with Ready Steady Baby book, DVD on breast feeding and numerous other leaflets. Oh and vitamin D tablets too.

Whole thing took 1.5 hours, scan next week.

Good luck to all those with appointments soon.

dobedobedo Wed 09-Oct-13 12:51:35

Hey ladies (and little beans)

I've just had chips, cheese and gravy and everyone thinks it's some weird pregnancy craving. Maybe. But it's a very popular thing where I come from! My sickness is easing off ever so slightly (two days without puking now) but I still feel pretty crappy - especially with a cold. After all the bad news here, I'm still grateful for what I have so I'm not feeling sorry for myself at all.

Thinking of our ladies going through very hard times right now. thanks

Feel like utter crap today. Don't know what it is. Low, emotional, sick. Flu is spreading around the uni like wildfire and I've got aches and pains and my whole body feels heavy, and a sore throat starting. My flu jab isn't until November 3rd. I really don't want flu now sad

Apparently we find out about Little Shop Of Horrors parts next week instead. More waiting sad

CbeebiesIsMyLife Wed 09-Oct-13 13:05:12

Struggling with food. I haut want to eat 'fruity' jucy things. Bread products are out as are potato and pasta foods I just end up feeling sick. Struggling to feed myself and the girls. Any ideas? Soup is good, but can't have anything like bread or crackers with it, jacket potato's or chips are out (love the idea of chips, cheese and gravy!) I had an egg and witch for lunch today and feel awful now sad

hobbjobb Wed 09-Oct-13 13:05:51

dobe are you Canadian? Mmmm poutine, delicious!

So I had my scan this morning and everything is fine. We saw the little blob and the heartbeat and DP got a tear in his eye. Amazing.
They've put my dates back to 6+5 so I am just about still a Maybie!

I had to have the scan vaginally which was fine and didn't hurt at all so nothing to worry about there

Cybercat Wed 09-Oct-13 13:14:50

I've only just found this new thread and trying to catch up. Im so so so very sorry thePFJ and rhe other ladies. It's just not fair.

dobedobedo Wed 09-Oct-13 13:19:05

No, hobb but I have lived there before!

So pleased we've had some good scan news today.
Bushprincess and Hobbjobb I'm so jealous of you seeing the heartbeat today. I had a scan at 8+4 two weeks ago and got really teary seeing the heartbeat.

Looking forward to hearing Iseans hopefully good news from her scan today too.

Sorry for all feeling rubbish today. At least we are moving forward. I know some in the thread are closer to 12 weeks than others but at least we're all that bit nearer to the magic number with each day.

loopylou52 Wed 09-Oct-13 14:30:44

Sorry to those of you feeling poorly today, especially randdom - hope the tablets do the trick and you don't have to go to hospital.

Not sure what to suggest Cbeebies - have you tried rice? I only suggest it because I remember some others saying plain rice helped them and it's the only carbohydrate not on your list! How are you doing with meat (unless you're veggie of course!). If soup is working would a big stew type thing with lots of veggies work?

dobedobedo Wed 09-Oct-13 14:38:59

A bit off topic, but did you see that the penis beaker thread from mumsnet has went viral? Don't read it if you're in a meeting (like I did). Couldn't help myself laughing!

hamncheese Wed 09-Oct-13 15:07:43

Hello everyone.... Such a busy thread.

Very sorry to read of losses sad

Just incase it helps anyone with really bad sickness... I've been given prochlorperazine tablets and they have really, really helped. I've been bedridden for a month now but I'm now able to look after DS again. I've missed him so so much. Also a protein diet seems to help me most and ice lollies for the worst moments. 10+4 so hoping I'm nearing the end of it soon.

Have a scan on Friday because I only had one wonky period between stopping bfing and ttc and they think I'm actually 13 weeks. Score!

Does anyone else find themselves in a position of wanting to hide their entire pregnancy from someone? I'm considering not telling my phd supervisors I'm pregnant. I barely see them anyway. But have to go to fortnightly seminars in the evening and will be chunking up bump wise as they end in April ... Eep. I already had a baby during year one of my phd and this is year 3 so I think they would be shocked...

bushprincess Wed 09-Oct-13 15:15:41

sorry for those feeling poorly today, hope you've alll managed to keep something down by now... must be rubbish

hobbjobb great news on your scan... you seem to have taken the trans vaginal scan well - I was completely not expecting it as I thought by 9wks it would definitely be abdominal so when he slipped a condom over the scanner and asked me to drop my knees to either side it was a bit of a shock!!

minions your appointment sounds so thorough! Mine not so much - the obstetrician is a lovely older gentleman who's got lots of experience and is obviously great at what he does... but I did rather feel like by the end he was a bit exasperated with my worries! When I asked him about what exercise I was safe to continue with he even felt the need to tell me that pregnancy is a perfectly normal thing and that millions of women have done it without any issues!

I of course felt the need to retaliate that as a vet I only tend to see the problem cases so my only experience of pregnancy is pulling stuck calves and lambs... which is not an experience I'm looking forward too myself!

Anyhow, glad he is so confident all is well but a little more time and excitement (it may be his 9,000th baby but it's only my 1st!) would have been nice!

bushprincess Wed 09-Oct-13 15:22:44

wow hamandcheese hats off to you having (soon to be 2!) kids during your PhD! I've just finished mine (viva the week after finding getting our bfp) and am just so amazed at anyone managing to do all that AND have a family - well done you!

I can imagine that it will be hard to tell your supervisors - but surely best that they know whats going on so that they can support you in the best way as you get to writing up... would your funding body pay you maternity leave? I know mine would have (BBSRC)... so may be worth talking to someone to see what help you can get (and time extension from your uni)... though you willl already have most of the info from your first.

It might be better to tell them earlier than later if they are going to find out anyway... but of course its a completely personal thing and only you can know what you feel confortable doing....

good luck finishing the thesis whatever decision you make about letting people know or not! amazing lady!!

hamncheese Wed 09-Oct-13 15:34:36

Thanks bush and congrats on your phd!

my funding is through the uni itself and doesn't have maternity. I could've taken a voluntary suspension but I would have no money! With DS it was fine I did a lot of work while pregnant and stored a bit to allow a month or two off. Tbh its not too big a deal as my phd is all home/archival research so I don't need to be anywhere 99% of the time. That's kind of why we ttc again as when am I going to be paid to be largely at home ever again IYSWIM.

Its still daft though. I do have a good support in terms of family and childcare. Thing is, after I got pregnant with DS my supervisors were totally professional about it but they have been treating me differently in subtle ways. Just not very friendly, quite confrontational in relation to criticising my work, really lax in getting back to me etc. So I really don't want to involve them. Tbh I don't think DS really affected my phd a whole heap because I'm a pretty efficient worker... I'd rather it not be an issue and ruin the relationship any further. I've not decided to pursue a career in academia either so its not like I'm ruining my chances there. I just want to get my phd and get out of there now haha!

McRedHead Wed 09-Oct-13 15:37:01

minions are you in Scotland? Your booking appt sounds exactly like mine. I was in on Monday scan next week at WMCC in Glasgow.

Symptom update! Such aching hips and knees. I think I need to get to the pool to do some exercise. Too much relaxin, so says Dr Google. (and probably too much relaxing as well! )

bouncysmiley Wed 09-Oct-13 16:24:57

Good luck Isean let us know how you get on.

bluestone85 Wed 09-Oct-13 17:25:20

Is anyone else getting out of breath much quicker than they used to already? Just walking up the stairs and I'm panting like anything!

Also, I keep sneezing a lot. For the past 2 weeks I've been sneezing loads! Weird coincidence? smile

Flixy102 Wed 09-Oct-13 17:31:15

Any other maybies from Northern Ireland? Everyones booking in etc appointments all seem so different its hard to keep up!

Its great to hear about all the good scans today, think our wee thread deserved some happy news smile

HamandCheese so glad you have tablets which are helping. Your sickness sounds like it's been dreadful so far.

And are you actually 13 weeks now? I think the scans are pretty accurate. So jealous you fast forwarded by 3 weeks! I'm back to feeling like the time is dragging so slowly.

Can't wait for this part to be over. Morning sickness has become all day sickness. Can't eat anything without feeling nauseous, and can't eat before noon or I'll throw up guaranteed.

All I want to do is sip water... but I have no water, and can't face getting up to walk downstairs to get some. This is bad sad

Hope everyone's doing well today smile

NannyPlumForPM Wed 09-Oct-13 18:58:56

Ice Lolllys are your friend moomin, feel cool and refreshing and take te sickness away (well they did for me) also keep you hydrated and are tasty! (plus if you do puke they taste alright on the way back up due to water content.)

Hopefully you'll hear abou the part soon!! I think my sickness rletc is pretty much gone now fx... I'm around 11 weeks now give or take though so I think that must have something to do with it .

An worried iv told too many people sad specially with all the extra problems my pg potentially has I really can't wait for the scan!!! Roll on 21st oct.... Sigh....

Finally am less exhausted also girlies so hopefully thats a positive end to the first trimester! secretly a bit (read very) worried that symptoms going is a sign that baby's going too hmm

NannyPlumForPM Wed 09-Oct-13 19:00:08

Hahahah dobedo that penis beaker thread tested my pelvic floor to the max! Time for kegels ladies ;)

Magpie78 Wed 09-Oct-13 19:18:36

Hi everyone just got in from work
Think working these hours is horrible right now! Quick question for all you guys currently seem to have all day morning sickness but at 16:30 it seems to get really bad and I get dizzy with a headache. Lasts until about 7 so all the way on the commute home, nearly fainted yesterday!
Any one else having this? Any ideas that might help? 6 + 4 today and flying to Fuertaventura Saturday!!!

bushprincess Wed 09-Oct-13 19:22:12

nanny please don't worry... I'm sure it's just the horrid 1st trimester drawing to a close but I know you'll be so relieved to get your scan.. we're all going to be keeping fingers and toes extra crossed for everyone now after we've had so much heartbreaking news on here...

dobedo the penis beaker is TOOOO funny!

hamncheese I understand where you're coming from and you don't want any excuse for your supervisors to treat you any differently... will you pretty much be written up by the time the bean arrives? if so then it should have very little bearing and is none of their business! good luck writing up!

moomin hope the ice-lollies work! and can't wait to hear if you got your part... LOVE little shop of horrors!

bluestone me too.. puffing like a steam train! oh the joys!

just called the parents - managed to get everyone on skype and show them the blob picture - they seem v.chuffed... infact MIL was so chuffed that she then told BIL before we had a chance to ring him..grrrr angry

Night all..sleep well and sweet dreams!!

bushprincess Wed 09-Oct-13 19:24:31

magpie can't offer any help I'm afraid but hope you manage to get it under control for your travels... with the fainting maybe you should get your bp checked out in case it's low... and try and stay hydrated (if you can keep liquid down) xx

dobedobedo Wed 09-Oct-13 19:47:47

Today I'm still suffering with a bad cold, but I started to feel a bit smug that I hadn't thrown up in two days. I was just telling dh about it when I got home from work, when I promptly vommed. confused I did manage some frozen yoghurt for dinner which soothed my throat. Also it was Ben and Jerry's so grin
Sorry to hear so many others of us are feeling shite! Only a few weeks to go and then we start "blooming" right?

Who was it who asked about norn iron ladies? I'm from NI but I've lived in England now for a year. (sorry I forget names most of the time when I get to the posting bit!)

Cybercat Wed 09-Oct-13 19:57:24

Hi bluestone I get very breathless too but its worse in the morning. I googled it to check it as normal! Am struggling to load paged on here tonight and its so frustrating.

MasterFlea Wed 09-Oct-13 20:06:11

So sorry thePFJ. Thinking of you. thanks

Elastigrrrl Wed 09-Oct-13 20:07:40

Got a bfp last week and should be 7 weeks tomorrow, thought it was time I joined a group of lovely ladies like yourselves!

bluestone85 I was flummoxed by the same symptoms, but I read that the sneezing is known as pregnancy rhinitis and affects about 30% of pregnant women. Sounds a bit of a suspect symptom I know, but apparently it's due to increased blood flow that makes the mucous membranes in the nasal passages swell. Kind of amusing when you think about it, not enough with the morning sickness and the hormones, got to sneeze as well...

Thanks NannyPlum, fx for you. Think we're around the same stage, I'm around 11+2. My scan is a week tomorrow and I'm so nervous. I know I'm healthy, I'm young, blah blah blah but nothing's ever guaranteed. Part of me is convinced there'll be something wrong... and I've no reason to think there is, it's just an instinct sad

Isean Wed 09-Oct-13 20:41:52

Thank you very much for your good luck messages today, you are all very kind!
We had our scan today & it was amazing & overwhelming! Our wee one was sleeping with its hands by its head & chin on its chest, I had to do some Shakira-style moves to wake it up! It was really, really incredible & we feel so blessed!
I'm now dated 11+1 & all is looking good! grin

BoogiesBunny Wed 09-Oct-13 22:41:13

Hey flixy I'm from N.I. too but have been away since I went to uni and am now in London - but nice to know there's other girls from norn iron on here!

isean oh my goodness I am so pleased for you - how long have you stared at the picture they gave you?! I'm so excited for ours - 3 weeks to go....agh!

thistlelicker Thu 10-Oct-13 06:37:40

Ok time to phone doctor or midwife third morning I've woke with pins and needles :-( I had bloods done the other day at hospital so will see what happens

Cupcake1985 Thu 10-Oct-13 07:25:04

Hi easti I'm 7+1 today so your back here with me too. Have you booked your midwife appointment yet?

Ah Isean, that sounds so cute that the baby was asleep and you had to wake bean up.

I know I sound like a broken record but I still haven't got my scan date and I'm 10+6, so impatient now!

thistlelicker Thu 10-Oct-13 07:56:59

Ring your midwife impatiently x

misscalais Thu 10-Oct-13 08:07:10

Hi ladies can I join you?
I'm due on the 18th with DC3.
I have a 3 year old and a 4 year old as well smile

AliOh Thu 10-Oct-13 08:07:36

Hi elasti congrats on your bfp! smile

Try not to worry moomin I know it's easier said than done because I feel exactly the same! It's hard to be excited when so anxious!

Lovely news isean so pleased for you smile

Keep pestering impatiently I'm hoping my midwife will book my scan at booking appointment on Monday just want to get it done as soon as poss now!

9+3 today and my birthday tomorrow!! Yay! cake for everyone smile

thistlelicker Thu 10-Oct-13 08:07:49

Hi miss!!!! Welcome :-)

AliOh Thu 10-Oct-13 08:08:21

Hi misscalais welcome and congrats smile

AliOh Thu 10-Oct-13 08:11:22

thistle I read somewhere that pins and needles can be quite common during pregnancy but definitely worth mentioning to midwife especially if its bothering you

thistlelicker Thu 10-Oct-13 08:13:57

Alioh I'm going to ring them at 9 and see what they say :-)

dobedobedo Thu 10-Oct-13 08:32:15

Welcome misscalais! Congrats on the bfp - friendly bunch of girls here, join in the fun whinging puking and worrying grin

Moomin, I carry a bottle of water with me everywhere I go. It holds a litre, and I drink at least that every day, normally I get through one and a half or two bottles. It means when I throw up, the majority of the time I just throw up water, which is better than chunky carrot soup (yuk!) and it is stopping me getting dehydrated, I just take sips constantly, even during the night.

Today I'm still in work, still dying with the cold and now I've completely lost my voice. The business owner is coming to do a pregnancy risk assessment today. Not really sure what to expect.

Spirael Thu 10-Oct-13 08:45:21

Morning all! Hopefully everyone is well and those suffering with morning sickness aren't too envy this morning.

After an epic bad day on Monday, MS hasn't been quite as bad for me for the rest of this week. In part because I finally gave up trying frantically to eat healthily and now I'm just stuffing my face with whatever I can manage at the time. blush

I'm going to gain so much weight, argh... At least I've already had my booking in appointment and my BMI was just about ok when it was logged! If it runs like last time they won't weigh me again, so I don't care anymore. grin I might do when none of my maternity clothes fit...

I've booked a private scan for 31st October (Halloween, woooo-! Trick or treat indeed...) which we can take DD to. I'll be 9+5 then, so hopefully there should be something to see. A jellybean blob with a heart beat, at least! Gives me something to look forward to at the peak of MS, if it runs like last time.

thistlelicker Thu 10-Oct-13 09:43:41

Midwife said it sounds like it
Could be carpal tunnel, I've
To speak to physio! Bloody hell

Xavielli Thu 10-Oct-13 11:14:08

Xavielli Thu 10-Oct-13 11:17:06

Try again - stupid phone

Morning ladies, feeling slightly less gippy this morning which is good! Had a lovely text message from my student midwife asking how I am (5th time round no one else really cares so it's nice to get a little attention).

I am so cold my nipples are sore.... Which I'm sure you didn't need to know. Oh the joys of pregnancy.

NannyPlumForPM Thu 10-Oct-13 11:44:18

Hmmph Moomin - we are similar stages but I've got to wait another two weeks for my scan angry

Been left on my own at work while everyone goes on a jolly! They say its important but if it includes a buffet then its a jolly.

Well if they can have the time off then im mumsnetting

thistlelicker Thu 10-Oct-13 11:47:01

I've just snapped at dh because I'm so tired and he is so keen for us to do stuff! Feel like a total bitch

dobedobedo Thu 10-Oct-13 12:07:02

Well I had my risk assessment at work and the director is getting me an orthopaedic chair and paying for an eye test! Quite why the eye test, I don't know. Something about computer screens.

My voice has totally gone, which as you can imagine is helpful when all I do all day is talk to people!

How are we all?

NannyPlumForPM Thu 10-Oct-13 12:21:20

Thats very posh DoBeDO!

I got........a 'ask for help if there is something heavy you need lifting'... good ol' NHS grin

SkipandTink Thu 10-Oct-13 12:21:29

Hi, hope everyone is well? Not been on here for a week or so as was just so ill last week, mainly just slept and threw up. Luckily the weekend saw things improve, and I am finally eating again now and not being sick anymore. In fact now I am bloody starving all the time! Am now 7 weeks 4 days and we still haven't told anyone apart from the kids, it's our own little family secret! I tried to add myself to stats but not sure if it worked?

loveLife14 Thu 10-Oct-13 12:34:34

Hi May mummies to be-

I am new here and not sure how to work this thread thing! I just posted a message on the main group...oooops!

I am 10 weeks, feeling awful and bricking it about my scan in a few weeks. Anyone else?! X

hamncheese Thu 10-Oct-13 12:37:03

I dont think I am 13 weeks impatiently ... I know when we conceived roughly as it was the first time we DTD without protection (this time round) and I tested 10 days after on clear blue got a positive so I know that attempt worked. Based on that date I'm 10+ but because they are going with my lmp (my cycles are whacky) they think I'm further. I would be very surprised if tomorrow they didn't say oh you're quite early still.

moomin ditto on ice lollies. Calypso minis are good.

bush I hope to have a draft written up by then... Then I can leave it with my supervisors while they do their usual of not reading it for months because they are so lazy. Will see how it goes but hopefully you will be right!

isean congrats on the scan smile I had to do a lot of dancing with my DS as a bean he was so chilled out... Still is pretty much!

Sorry to all still waiting for scans... Last time round I was in Glasgow and I didn't hear anything at all from anyone til 12 weeks. Then they told me to come at 14 weeks and they booked and scanned in a oner. Good job I brought DH with me or he'd have missed it. This time in Lanarkshire I've been seen at 7 weeks, booked in at 9 weeks, now scan at 11/13 depending on your view ha! So yeah, it's a lottery and very annoying but do call if you think you are being neglected!

Feeling a little more energetic today which is nice. DS and I put up some Halloween decorations early to cheer up.

ThePFJ Thu 10-Oct-13 13:15:23

Just to let you know the surgery went fine - no complications. My DH was a total hero yesterday keeping me entertained while we waited. No pain at all today, I am surprised at how fast my body has recovered - but that's a good thing. Have a good day girls - thinking of you all loads.
Love - ThePFJ. xxxx

Xavielli Thu 10-Oct-13 13:18:32

Just had a McDonalds milkshake, I really didn't want it but it turned out to be ambrosia

Im 9+2

NannyPlumForPM Thu 10-Oct-13 16:05:01

Xaviella I hate to be the bearer of bad news but pregnant women aren't meant to eat McDonalds milkshakes! Something along the lines of Mr Whippy's ice cream and the listeria danger hmm I know....

BoogiesBunny Thu 10-Oct-13 16:22:49

Hey chip so great that you love your midwife! I'm hoping for a cuddly older lady, ideally with a comforting Irish accent - not that I'm being too prescriptive! I also have no symptoms, except perhaps the giant spots on my face, so I know what you mean about not feeling preggers - did you mention it to the midwife? If you did, what did she say about it?

I'm 9+1

bushprincess Thu 10-Oct-13 16:28:07

ahh! PFJ thats so great of you to pop in and let us know you're ok... thinking of you loads and hope you'll be back on a bus as soon as you are healed (body and mind)... big hugs!

Welcome lovelife, miss and elasti hope you'll enjoy having us to moan/laugh/be sick with !!

isean how cute having to wake the little bean up!! can't wait to see something more than an amorphous blob!!

hamncheese good luck getting your draft together - will be such a weight off your mind - and yes, expect lots of time until supervisors get round to reading it... I handed mine in and then promptly left for a month long (belated) honeymoon as I knew I wouldn't expect to hear anything sooner!!

Have a good evening all you lovely ladies! xx

BoogiesBunny Thu 10-Oct-13 16:28:36

Hello newbies - welcome to the thread! It's pretty awesome smile!

AliOh Thu 10-Oct-13 16:45:41

Hi lovelife and welcome to the maybies!

Glad to hear op went well ThePFJ have been thinking of you x

I'm feeling less and less pregnant the last couple of days, apart from tiredness and my terrible skin, all symptoms have gone! Even the dreaded ms confused

Forgot to say hi to all the new maybies cake

dobedobedo Thu 10-Oct-13 17:07:47

My symptoms are certainly changing. I keep thinking "Oooh my morning sickness has disappeared" only for me to suddenly puke without warning. It's definitely getting less though. I'm half relieved, half worried.

Thinking of you PFJ smile

Welcome new Maybies smile

UPDATE - I am being "highly considered" for the part of the voice of the plant in Little Shop! Find out tomorrow grin not entirely sure I'll get it... but if I don't, it doesn't look like I can be in the show so we shall see grin

Xavielli Thu 10-Oct-13 17:10:51

NannyPlum ah well - I also eat deli meats, raw egg and rare meat (all of which we're allowed in my first 3 pregs) I feel a lot more will be consumed before the end

Lots of love Pfj - take care of yourself.

NannyPlumForPM Thu 10-Oct-13 17:45:13

Fair play!! grin although raw egg is a bit envy..., unless in a cake!!!

pfj I miss you!!! There's def not as much chattering without you. Really glad op went ok. Your OH sounds luffly x

dobedobedo Thu 10-Oct-13 18:18:24

Eww stop talking about raw egg! [vom]

nanny I agree, PFJ does sound like she has a lovely OH. Im really glad he knows how to support her she deserves only the best and I really wish that she is blessed with a really sticky bean next time round. I havent been on here as much since her news, feel guitly if I moan because so many lovely ladies have had sad news.

Got my booking in appt tomorrow morning, perfectly timed to grab a mcdonalds breakfast on way and treat my cheeky toddler to pancakes.

Vikks Thu 10-Oct-13 18:34:57

Hi Everyone. I’m back from my holidays.
Firstly PFJ, Bohemond and Onefunkymuma I am absolutely devastated to hear your sad news. I just could not hold back the tears reading your posts, you are all amazing women and deserve your healthy babies. I hope your wait is short, good luck.
Welcome to all the new arrivals! I’ve lost track of all your names sorry…I’ve missed a full thread so you chatterboxes have hammered through that in less than two weeks (but I haven’t missed a word, I’ve been keeping up on my phone).
The bit about me…. Olive tomorrow Whoop Whoop! Scan at 10am. I am absolutely petrified. You may remember I said the nurse had told me not to go on holiday as she was very doubtful about my PG, even though we’d seen the heartbeat before we left she thought I’d miscarry. Well, no pain or bleeding at all, MS stepped up a notch, so praying for a miracle tomorrow. They have said I’d be discharged from the hospital if all was good at 9 weeks scan. FX
Moomin Good luck with the part, I love The Little Shop.
Dobedo & AliOh Great to hear the MS is on its way out, there’s hope for us all. Don’t be worried now comes the ‘blooming’ nice bit. I personally can’t wait for that, with DS I felt really healthy from about 12 to 37 weeks. FX for the same…
Xavielli Dreaming of McDonalds now!
Mumof2 Good luck tomorrow x
Big waves to all the Maybies ladies, hope you’re all well. I’ve missed not posting x x x

Welcome back Vikks how was your holiday?
Im sure bean is nicely snuggled and growing well. When will you be able to post tomorrow and let us know how your scan went. MW probably had to advise you against going away as if she did the opposite and something did happen she'd be the first you would blame.

McBaby Thu 10-Oct-13 18:50:09

McBaby Thu 10-Oct-13 18:52:13

McDonald's have increadably strict cleaning regimes especially of milkshake machines due to the food poisoning risks could you imagine the headlines if they made people ill.

So I would drink them any day when pregnant really is no comparison to mr wippy from a random ice cream van.

Vikks Thu 10-Oct-13 18:56:52

Mumof2 Wonderful holiday thank you. All my family were there, it was just what I needed to take my mind of the worry. DP was wonderful and looked after me (this is his first child), he is very excited. x

Oh so jealous vikks its our third so im receiving no special treatment. Sounds like a holiday was just what you needed, glad you had a lovely time.

Magpie78 Thu 10-Oct-13 19:08:47

I had a MacDonalds milkshake today and my afternoon sickness was definitely better, could be coincidence though wahhhhhh no more!! Hope everyone is having a lovely evening. Moomin I love little shop & always wanted to be Audrey I do hope you get Audrey II!
Scan tomorrow and am getting more and more worried that they won't find the heartbeat again like last time, from what I've read they should find it.....Google is not my friend and should not do it!

thistlelicker Thu 10-Oct-13 19:13:29

I'm having chicken and veg curry for tea it smells rotten!!!!! On a brighter note we have picked our name for our little lady If she is a lady!

dobedobedo Thu 10-Oct-13 19:15:37

Are you going to share the name thistle?

I'm having frozen yoghurt for dinner. It's all I can stomach and it is soothing for my sore throat! Also I'm a grownup and can eat whatever I want grin

thistlelicker Thu 10-Oct-13 19:21:45

Isla Jane mcthistle :-)

Good luck tomorrow magpie let us know how scan goes.
thistle lovely name, what will you do if she turns out to be a he?

I freaked dp out earlier. I said, 'I might have a little willy growing inside me!' He actually went pale! Lol. We have two girls and he finds the whole baby in the belly thing a bit difficult.

dobedobedo Thu 10-Oct-13 19:28:48

Lovely name thistle! Awwww.

I have a feeling I'm having a boy. Does anyone else have a "feeling" about what they're having?

Such a pretty name thistle smile

I'm really excited for tomorrow grin got some ice lollies for tonight (thanks for the suggestion girls) and some roobabs and custard sweets. Supposedly to keep the nausea away tomorrow, but I'm eating them now grin

Lovely to hear from you Vikks Hope you had a lovely holiday.

Good luck for tomorrow and for you too Magpie, I'm sure everything will be fine and you will both love seeing baby bean on screen. Can't wait for my 12 week scan.

Love the name thistle, it's really lovely. And good luck for finding out about the part Moomin.

Welcome all the newbies, have you added your details to our stats? We should be coming up to some exciting times soon with lots of scans and booking in appointments in the next few weeks. Can any technical people think of an easy fuss free way we can share pics of scans? I spent so many years looking blankly at relatives scans trying to think of what to say about them, but now I love seeing pics of scan pics.

Is anyone planning on trying to use the nub theory to see whether its a girl or boy? My sister was desperate for her 3rd baby to be a girl so researched it quite a bit so now I think I understand and have a pretty good success rate at guessing my friends babies based on their 12 week scans.

Everyone reckons girl/twins but I say boy dobe grin

randdom Thu 10-Oct-13 19:47:51

I think boy. But I have no idea why. We won't be finding out until may if all things are well

Xavielli Thu 10-Oct-13 19:48:30

Lovely name thistle

I think this one is a boy. Me and DP are so bad at agreeing on names, hoping to stick with our Celtic theme though.

Vikks Thu 10-Oct-13 19:57:13

Great name Thistle

I've just added my name ideas to Stats page....I'm feeling boy again, not sure why.

Magpie Good luck tomorrow, I have mine too. FX

Magpie78 Thu 10-Oct-13 20:10:45

Thanks Vikks will be sending you happy thoughts! I think girl and have from the start!

AliOh Thu 10-Oct-13 20:15:51

Gorgeous name thistle smile

I'm convinced I'm having a girl, no idea why, that's what I imagine having IYSWIM but I will be equally delighted if it's a boy so I really don't mind lol. Always loved the idea of not finding out but now I just can't wait!

Elastigrrrl Thu 10-Oct-13 20:24:37

Hey, happy birthday AliOh! Last birthday pre-mumhood or are you a veteran?

Cupcake, my first MW appointment is in two weeks' time and scan three weeks after. DH and I very excited but also trying not to get too invested just yet...quite challenging isn't it?

How're all the 7 weekers feeling? I'm mainly thirsty, a bit sneezy and ever so slightly nauseous/crampy. Hardly feels real!

Secondly...has anyone's GP given them an actual blood test? Mine said it wasn't necessary if the POAS method came up positive (twice), but I can't help but wonder if it would be wise to rely on something more...official?

loopylou52 Thu 10-Oct-13 20:25:15

Hi Maybies!

Welcome and congrats to the new ones and congrats to isean on your scan! smile

magpie - have you tried sugary snacks around the time you start feeling bad? Not sure it's the same but I find I suddenly start getting really tired and feel weak and sick and having a decent snack and a sugary drink helps. A pack of salt and vinegar McCoys and a bottle of cherry coke were my saviour for my 2 hour commute the other day.

Sorry to not name check anyone else - I'm struggling to keep up! I don't think we'll be finding out the gender either. I've always imagined myself having a girl but am trying to convince myself it's a boy so it doesn't come as too much of a shock iyswim. We also haven't got very far with name discussions yet - I think it'll start feeling more real and we'll start planninf stuff once we get into the next trimester.

Cupcake1985 Thu 10-Oct-13 20:38:26

elasti I'm jealous my midwife appointment is 2 weeks 5 days away and no scan yet - I was told the midwife will book it soon after the meeting. Hope that's true! Not many symptoms just tired, sore boobs, bit thirsty. Nothing to scream woman with child

thistlelicker Thu 10-Oct-13 21:13:16

I'm the same cupcake!! I've had three
Scans until now showing a good bean!! 6 days til dating im10+1

thistlelicker Thu 10-Oct-13 21:13:21

I'm the same cupcake!! I've had three
Scans until now showing a good bean!! 6 days til dating im10+1

My dating is a week today, I'll be 12+2 grin

BoogiesBunny Thu 10-Oct-13 21:27:22

I have a feeling ours might be a boy, but then when I imagine a little girl it could be that too! I'd love either but a mini-DH would be too cute for words!! There are lots of girls in our families though. Either way, we won't find out. The only thing is that when I was only 12 I spotted my little brother's willy on the ultrasound - so if it's that obvious we can't help but find out!

Elast nope my Dr didn't do a blood test - just took my word for it.

It is so good to hear that some of you are beginning to feel much more normal - for those of you who aren't brighter days are just around the corner.

Maternity jeans arrived this morning - you were all right as they are a revelation! I love them! Still a bit early to wear them I think but I have a little bump appearing - DH noticed it yesterday and I just said 'no it's fat' but now I'm not so sure - it's definitely a bulge in a particular spot (rather than general spread around the middle) - very excited about having a bump - might make it seem real, as otherwise it just doesn't.

Welcome back vikki!

thistlelicker Thu 10-Oct-13 21:38:30

I think girl hubby thinks boy, but I don't care as we know this is our only baby

Chip86 Thu 10-Oct-13 22:38:20

Boogies i dont think your asking for a lot. I told her i had no symptoms and she said i was lucky, i said i was worried and she just said you have had no bleeding so dont worry, but i will worry any way hehehe

9+2 only one day in diffrence between us smile

Chip86 Thu 10-Oct-13 22:52:41

Welcome back vikki glad you had nice hols

Oh thistle what a lovely name

All the best on the part moomin i hope you get it

Oh so exciting lots of stuff going on all the best to thouse of you with appointments this week

Oh my notes are blue and I have to take them every were shock there huge!

Nearly forgot to say - Happy Birthday AliOh.

I'll definitely be finding out if it's a girl or boy. I think part of me thinks its a girl (which is what I always said I wanted). Now I'm actually pregnant I really don't mind if it's a boy, but think I'll need time to get used to it, as I kind of can't imagine me having a boy.

I think we actually might pay for a scan at 16 weeks as I can't wait to know.

That's all being well of course. I'm a bit worried as I feel like my very few symptoms are disappearing - boobs don't feel as achey and all my crampy/stretchy feelings seem to have stopped. Trying to tell myself that rationally it's probably fine, but there is always a part of me that worries.

thistlelicker Thu 10-Oct-13 23:01:42

Today I been having niggles
High up in my belly!!! Any ideas ?

rebeccax2 Fri 11-Oct-13 05:01:00

Arghhh! I can't seem to ever get through the night. I'm collapsing in bed exhausted at 9:30, walking up to pee a couple of times and then by 4am I'm awake and it's over :-(

I guess it's a good preparation...

bouncysmiley Fri 11-Oct-13 07:10:53

I think boy but only because my me has been so hideous and last time very little ms resulted in a girl. Welcome to all the new maybies and good luck moomin

AliOh Fri 11-Oct-13 07:28:03

Thanks elasti yes last birthday pre mum hood smile always said I wanted to be pregnant before 25 so just about got my wish smile also my GP never even asked me to POAS just took my word for it when I said that I'd taken 5 HPTs smile

Also thanks impatiently my symptoms too have done a runner! Have got my booking appointment on Monday so will mention it to my midwife then - did I really get away with only a couple of weeks worth of nausea?!

Chocolate all round for everyone because I got loads this morning smile also a lovely card off DP that made me cry because he'd obviously but a lot of effort into what he wrote in it and he's not the most romantic/affectionate/hearts and flowers kind of person smile also he casually mentioned yesterday that he'd forgotten to get me a card (wouldn't of surprised me as he did last year!) so I genuinely wasn't expecting anything.

Magpie78 Fri 11-Oct-13 07:39:32

Thank Loopylou I love an idea that features McCoys!
elasti I am 6 + 6 today but have had a scan and some blood tests so far and going to the next scan today at 9:15. Tbh it hadn't made me feel any more pregnant......think I am still in shock!
Symptom-wise apart from the constant nausea I still have on off cramps pains front and back, really painful bbs and most recently nipples that make me look like a porn star blush rather embarrassing when I noticed them at work!

thistlelicker Fri 11-Oct-13 08:13:51

All the best for scan magpie

hamncheese Fri 11-Oct-13 08:16:16

rebecca exactly the same at night here sad I feel so uncomfy. Its so annoying all I want to do is sleep but can't.

Will put a pic of my scan on my profile when I have one all being well.

shanks313 Fri 11-Oct-13 08:16:19

8+3 today and woken up period type aches .. Had 2 kids but can't remember if this is normal.
Can it be because period would be due now?
Apart from that and worrying constantly everything else seems to be okay. Not much sickness at all. Can't wait till midwife next week

BoogiesBunny Fri 11-Oct-13 08:33:56

Happy Brithday ali - enjoy the chocolate mountain!

thistle what are the niggles like? I'm sure they are just things stretching and moving around down there.

impatiently my very few symptoms have also gone, although spots seem to have remained. I'm worried too - but I'm trying to remind myself that we're all going to worry no matter what, and the odds are that everything is perfectly fine (repeat over and over...).

loopylou52 Fri 11-Oct-13 08:38:47

Happy birthday AliOh and good luck to those with scans today.

Impatiently you're quite far along aren't you? So maybe getting to the point where the symptoms die down a bit ready for all that blossoming in the second trimester. smile

Xavielli Fri 11-Oct-13 08:50:35

Happy Birthday AliOh

Thanks everyone, I think I just felt a stretchy twinge so hopefully I'm just being a bit paranoid.

It's so easy to do isn't it?

I'm 11 weeks today which makes me the size of a fig. Just called my hospital as I hadn't received my appointment for dating scan yet, and I've got an app a week on Monday when I'll be 12+3. Can't wait/terrified.

thistlelicker Fri 11-Oct-13 08:59:19

They like a dull period pain!! I'm just paranoid

bushprincess Fri 11-Oct-13 09:10:35

morning girls!

vikks and magpie looking forward to hearing the good news from your scans today!!

thistle love your name - a cousin recently called her daughter Isla and I think it's just gorgeous!

DH and I haven't talked names yet but I'm hoping for a celtic theme - he's welsh and I'm cornish so something that reflects the beans heritage would be great!

I've no idea (or preference) either way re flavor, though DH has been convinced from the off that it's a girl! We're definitely going to find out though... (assuming little bean is co-operative enough to assume a good viewing position!) we reckon there are enough surprises ahead that one less won't hurt!!

Hope everyone has a good day, and for all whos symptoms are fading this must surely be a sign of our slow progression towards the 'blooming' bit!!

Spirael Fri 11-Oct-13 09:25:36

I'm a 7-week-er, Elasti! smile Still struggling with MS here... The morning commute is diabolical. And that's with my lovely DH bringing me breakfast in bed then dropping me off at work!

I have to keep eating and drinking constantly all morning or I become too nauseated to function at work. =_= The trick has been finding stuff I can eat that's not catastrophically bad for me! Clementines and breakfast bars seem to be working ok today.

I am really looking forward to having a lie in tomorrow and NOT having to get in a car at the peak of MS! If it's this bad now, I'm worried how bad it's going to get over the next few weeks. confused

No idea whether this one is a boy or girl. I had a dream it was a boy last week, but in last night's dream it was a girl! So obviously my subconscious has no idea either.

There are loads of differences this time around, however. Last time I wanted spicy food (and my tolerance increased) and sweet things, and I couldn't tolerate anything cold or fruit. This time around I can barely tolerate spice, I want fruit, cold food is fine and I'm really craving mint.

I didn't get given a sample pot before my booking in and my MW didn't need me to rectify that at the appointment. No bloods are being taken until my scan date, once they get that organised. So currently they're just relying on my word that I'm pregnant!

Those whose symptoms are easing, are you around 11 weeks? That's the usual time for them to ease so you start feeling human again. So don't worry; Celebrate! smile It's to do with the hormone levels dropping as the placenta kicks into action and taking over support of the teeny baby.

JayRo Fri 11-Oct-13 09:47:52

Message withdrawn at poster's request.

loveLife14 Fri 11-Oct-13 10:16:43

Hi girls! Hope you are all feeling OK this morning.

After initialy starting the day yesterday like the usual nauseated person I have been, I had a glimmer of my former self in the afternoon! It reassured me I was still in there somewhere (let's hope)

Last night however burst my bubble as i woke at 4:30 with that OMGIFEELSOSICK/OMGIAMSOHUNGRY feeling- awful. I managed to get downstairs for some marmite on bread which sorted me untill the morning.

I still feeling icky but i can hopefully see a more lean to more normal self. I am 10 weeks coming into my 11th week- do you think this may be easing off MS or a bad sign? (Paranoia still not gone!)

For all the new mummies going through ms here is some stuff that I tried which may help you-

Frozen ice lollies or even better freeze one of those lemon and lime lucozade lite drinks and then drink- saved me on my worst days

Percy pig sweets from M&S

Chalky lollipops (co-op do a big bag for £1 at the mo)

Ice cold water

Bottle Green Lemongrass and Ginger drink

Hot water bottle on tummy

Something nice to sniff- lavender bag etc.

Eat asap in the morning but eat slowly and regularly. I seem to have to eat non stop untill lunch time.

I'm not going to deny that I actually feel my worst in the afternoon from 4pm untill bed, and I am now officially to most unsociable person ever.

Hope everyone has a nice, relaxing weekend x

Elastigrrrl Fri 11-Oct-13 10:22:08

Mmm, clementines...

On another note, there seems to be many of us with minimal symptoms, which just suggests to me it's within the rather wide spectrum of "normal" experiences. The rational fraction of my brain says to a. assume things are OK unless there's a concrete indication otherwise, and b. send good vibes over to those in MS hell...who knows, I may join you shortly...

BoogiesBunny Fri 11-Oct-13 10:30:17

Good thought Elasti!

Flixy102 Fri 11-Oct-13 10:58:48

Glad to hear some of you are easing up on the ms symptoms-think I'm going the other way! 10 weeks tomorow and have been feeling sick and doing some major gagging when brushing my teeth! Previously I've not had too many symptoms so I think I'm doing things back to front as usual!

Minions Fri 11-Oct-13 11:25:06

Sorry for being rubbish at posting, I keep falling asleep when I get home! bushprincess - I'm glad your dr is nice but if someone told me that millions had gone through pregnancy before me I might have swung for him! ;)

McRedHead, yes I'm in Scotland too. Wonder if we get more tests due to Scotland's health issues?!

Flixy Brushing my teeth makes me gag too, yuck. It's the toothpaste, haven't found anything that helps yet except avoiding brushing my teeth when I'm feeling really nauseous.

Welcome to the newbies too! LoveLife14 glad you found us! Looks like I posted on your other comment after you got here smile

Happy Friday girls!

Magpie78 Fri 11-Oct-13 11:26:25

thistle I have them a lot, think it is just all the ligaments moving about.
Just got in from scan and have a heartbeat! Little one is 6.3mm long.

thistlelicker Fri 11-Oct-13 11:47:00

Lovely news magpie :-))))

thistlelicker Fri 11-Oct-13 11:47:28

My dogs just vomited on my bed! My insides swiftly followed :-((

Magpie78 Fri 11-Oct-13 11:49:43

Bless you, just what you needed.

loopylou52 Fri 11-Oct-13 12:14:19

Oh no thistle, not what you needed! Great news on the scan magpie.

I had to phone the hospital to book my 12 week scan this morning. All booked in for 1st Nov when I'll be 12+5. Hope I haven't tempted fate - started having awful stomach cramps a while ago. Haven't had any bleeding so trying not to panic. Thankfully working at home today so have turned to paracetamol and hot water bottle and am spending my lunch break having a lay down. hmm

Magpie78 Fri 11-Oct-13 12:18:52

If it helps at all my friend is now 14 weeks but she was cramping the whole time, even to the extent she was lying under her desk at work, and all is well. Drink lots of water too & feel better x

loopylou52 Fri 11-Oct-13 12:31:21

Thanks magpie, they seem to be easing off a bit now so fingers crossed it was nothing.

Brilliant news Magpie, congrats. It's such a relief to see all is ok.

Thinking of you LoopyLou, your cramps found painful. Hope the heat and rest are helping. Xx

Re my last message. Was meant to say its a relief to see everything is ok, isn't it?

As in all scans are a relief, not yours in particular Magpie. Had read it back and thought it looked like I'd been harbouring some worries over your scan Magpie - not the case.

Magpie78 Fri 11-Oct-13 13:01:01

Not at all, to be fair I was. Am just so relieved especially as we go on holiday tomorrow!

BoogiesBunny Fri 11-Oct-13 13:29:28

Magpie - I'm so pleased for you and your little raspberry/olive (apologies - i can't remember how far along you are but either seems about right!) - now have an amazing holiday!

loopy those cramps sound awful - at least you can rest up at home while they ease. I think a lot of us have been having these on and off - with so few symptoms I'm quite reassured when I feel the twinges and cramps.

NannyPlumForPM Fri 11-Oct-13 13:54:35

Hi All!

can't namecheck all because I forget MY name let alone others smile

But thistle I think that name is gorgeous. I am considering Isla now... whereas I didn't even think it as a possibilty <sneaky name thief> I have a feeling it might be twins which I REALLY hope is not true!!

I have more chance of a full term baby being a girl... because if it was a boy with my condition it wouldn't make it. So I think it's any time up to about 18-20 weeks it can mc - more waiting! For that reason I reckon a girl, but I reeeeeallly hope that it doesn't have IP. I don't care what it is - could be a bloody puppy for all I care - but as long as it's compus mentus and doesn't have IP I will be SO happy...

Congratulations magpie glad your scan went well.

NannyPlumForPM Fri 11-Oct-13 13:55:31

welcome back vikks, happy birthday alioh happy holidays magpie good luck on the part moomin haev you heard yet? congrats all who had healthy scans and welcome all newbies!!

Just caught up on this week.

PFJ I'm so sorry to read your news - you've given so many Maybies advice and support, not to mention a right laugh. You're a wonderful lady and you're in my thoughts. Look after yourself thanks

Am very envy about these holidays - have to persuade DH that we need one before baby olive arrives. Am thinking of Feb half term or Easter - or would that be too late?

NannyPlumForPM Fri 11-Oct-13 13:56:50

oh and mumof2 I hope your scan goes really well - got mine a week monday and first booking in Tuesday so am not far behind smile

I know what you mean about not being able to post since PFJ.... I just feel like I am leaving her out IYSWIM. I am sure she will be back on a bus before long and a sticky bean will be hers!!!

dobedobedo Fri 11-Oct-13 14:31:05

Hey ho!

Today has been a bit difficult. I'm hormonal as frigging hell right now so I spent the morning crying and puking, and I haven't kept anything down all day. I went to see a client and I had to run for the loo to throw up blush but she felt my forehead and as I feel hot, she assumed I had a sickness bug. Sometimes I feel like I have a neon sign saying PREGNANT above my head!

ThePFJ Fri 11-Oct-13 14:49:34

I don't know why I am here checking this thread... part of thinks it would be best just to let you girls get on with it in case I bring you down. But the thing is, I am not sad anymore.. I am hopeful for the next time. My DH and my family have been really wonderful, and I am feeling strong. So even though it's weird that I am lurking now and again, in the words of Monty Python - NannyPlum and the rest of you girls... you aren't leaving me out... so 'Get on with it' smile

nanny I only had vooking in appt today. My notes are green hmm I dont have my 12 week scan till 15th nov when I will actually be over 13 weeks.
vikks had a scan today didnt she? Has anyone heard?

Hi! PFJ im glad your lurking ;) its nice to see your well and positive. Xxx

thistlelicker Fri 11-Oct-13 15:12:54

Oh Man!!!! I feel like absolute shite today :-(

bluestone85 Fri 11-Oct-13 15:23:27

Sorry I haven't been around for a couple of days. Had a little bleed yesterday so I went to the doctor and he said not to worry too much as its normal. He said to keep an eye on it and if it gets heavy to go back. But had more bleeding this morning :-( only when I wipe (sorry if tmi) so not lots, but of course I'm panicking. I know it happens to a lot of women but just needed to rant xxx

CbeebiesIsMyLife Fri 11-Oct-13 15:28:28

Nanny and all, I'm glad I'm not the only one fining it difficult to post. Pfj I'm glad you're feeling positive and you have support.

I think hearing of pfj's news (in a really weird way) has bought up a lot of feelings for me that I was trying to keep locked and hidden. I'll catch up with you girls at a late date, right now I'm just struggling with emotions and crap.

dobedobedo Fri 11-Oct-13 15:31:04

Hi pfj It's awesome that you have such a positive outlook - you're an inspiration! Lurk all you want! :-)

bluestone sorry to hear you're worrying, most of the time a bit of blood isn't a sign of a problem. Just take it easy and look after yourself. I'm sure everything is fine.

Lovely to hear from you ThePFJ, especially sounding so positive. Hope you keep popping in on us as it's not the same without you.

Ah Blue bleeding can be so worrying, although in so many cases is absolutely fine and normal. I had bleeding in a previous pregnancy and know how disconcerting it is, I couldn't concentrate on anything else, but my doc referred me to EPU for an early scan. Think it's quite common to get an early scan for bleeding so if you are worrying then I'd get back to your docs and ask for one.

It's probably nothing at all to worry about though so if you are managing to cope and not worry then probably no need to go back.

Lovely to hear from you again PFJ and loving your outlook.

FEED ME SEYMOUR grin yep I got the part grin so excited! Having Pizza Hut tonight to celebrate.... not that I've been able to keep any food down today yet. It's definitely all-day sickness now. Ice lollies are the only things I can manage sad

NannyPlum... you talking about puppies made me remember something. My housemate showed me this Facebook picture saying if the man was on top at conception, it's a boy, and if the woman was on top, it's a girl. She asked me what I was having and I had to very sheepishly reply "puppies" blush

So many people to catch up with, I'm sorry if it seems I'm ignoring anyone's posts - hope everyone is doing well, massive Welsh cwtch from me for everyone smile (better than a hug wink )

thistlelicker Fri 11-Oct-13 16:03:26

Well done mooninn!!!

bluestone85 Fri 11-Oct-13 16:03:30

Thanks dobe and impatiently. I have my booking appointment on weds so if the bleeding doesn't get any worse then I will speak to her about it. Hopefully she can get me in for an early scan. I will be 9 + 6 when I see her xx

bluestone85 Fri 11-Oct-13 16:08:43

Congratulations Moomin on getting the part of Audrey 2. Love little shop of horrors! x

moomin you have just had me in stitches! Did your housemate get it straight away? I'd have loved to see their face! Congrats on getting the part.

Minions Fri 11-Oct-13 16:15:29

Thanks for coming back PFJ, it's amazing to hear you so positive.

Well done moomin and hope you feel better soon. Same for dobe and thistle, here's hoping we all turn a corner soon.

We've got Canadian friends coming for thanksgiving dinner tomorrow. Wondering what they'll think if I only eat a tiny portion. Also wondering how I'll stay awake after 8.30pm!

Minions Fri 11-Oct-13 16:17:01

Bluestone also meant to say that I hope everything is ok. Take it easy and look after yourself

bluestone85 Fri 11-Oct-13 16:24:43

Thanks minions. Ive been in bed and moved to the sofa and haven't moved except to go to the loo :-) don't think I could be more relaxed Hehe. xx

loopylou52 Fri 11-Oct-13 16:25:18

Fingers crossed it stops soon bluestone - easier said that done but try not to panic. It does sound quite common.

moomin - 'puppies' gave me a much needed laugh! Congrats on getting the part.

My tummy cramps have got a lot better now, more just like a normal tummy ache now, though that could just be due to having just eaten my own body weight in grapes!

Vikks Fri 11-Oct-13 16:31:05

Hi All, I have a perfect little 9 week old bean!!! The scan was amazing! Not a dry eye in the house.
We could see little arms and legs, good strong heartbeat and even its brain! The nurses gave us 3 lovely pictures.
We’ve told my son today, he just kept kissing my tummy and trying to listen to the baby (he’s 3 in two weeks time). It was truly magical, best day ever!
If baby goes to term we will hold the record for the lowest ever HCG level of 16 (previously 28) at my fertility hospital. That is why we were told to expect to miscarry so often. But today they discharge me, just the normal PG route now like any other pregnancy. I have my booking in on Thursday (9+6) and the fertility hospital even said if my 12 week scan was looking more like it would be a 13 week scan, I could pop in and they’d do me another. Very very happy here! grin grin grin

bluestone85 Fri 11-Oct-13 16:32:43

Thanks loopy. Trying to keep positive but it's hard. Especially with the being so many losses on here recently. My heart goes out to everyone x x

dobedobedo Fri 11-Oct-13 16:33:01

Brilliant news Vikks!! Post the scan pics so we can all go all goey over them! xxx

bluestone85 Fri 11-Oct-13 16:35:58

Congratulations Vikks :-) x

Vikks Fri 11-Oct-13 16:36:26

Bluestone Small bleeds are very common. Fx

Moomin Brilliant news on the part, well done!!

AliOh Happy Birthday x

Magpie So scan glad your scan went well too, have a lovely holiday.

Minions Fri 11-Oct-13 16:37:01

Wonderful news Vikks, no wonder you're over the moon! What a special day, congratulations smile

Vikks Fri 11-Oct-13 16:38:15

dobedobedo that sounds a bit technical....I'll have a go (or get someone else to do it for me blush )

vikks so glad the scan went well smile your son sounds adorable. Im a bit worried about telling my 3 year old. I think she's going to get really jealous. My 9 year old however has been going at us to have another baby so she'll be pleased.

BoogiesBunny Fri 11-Oct-13 16:53:21

Ah Vikks I'm so happy for you and your family!

Spirael Fri 11-Oct-13 16:53:37

Well done Moomin and excellent news, Vikks! smile

I have a 3 year old to tell at some point too, but I'm not anticipating any problems. We've been hinting over the past month or so that we might invite a baby to come and live with us, and she's indicated that she'd like that and would enjoy being a big sister.

She's pretty chilled out, I expect her reaction will be along the lines of "That's nice Mummy. Can I watch more Octonauts?". grin

We're taking her to the scan on the 31st, so we can (hopefully) show her the blob on screen. Gives her something tangible to work with, rather than just taking our word!

FacebookStoleMyLife Fri 11-Oct-13 16:57:50

aww thistle I feel for you, last Friday was like that for me, there were tears. Still feeling pretty rubbish but not unmanageable like it was (9 +4).

Blue thinking about you too, I had bleeding in my first pregnancy and all was well so I don't know if that helps at all. But I do know how scary it is so try to get a scan if you can if only to reassure yourself. Is there an early pregnancy unit near you? Ours you just call and come in, you don't need doctors referral.

Sorry I've been a bit quiet this week, bad news with pregnancies on here and in RL have scared me an made posting hard. But I'm coming round.

PFJ Lovely to see you, we miss you so if you fancy floating in and out you can be our guardian angel smile

Vikks amazing scan news, what a start to the weekend!

My notes are green too (sorry can't remember who said theirs were) and they really wound me up! I can get a bit militant about these things but in what life is it any of their business what our partners job is?! Or how many other children he has?! I can sort of see how my job is relevant in case I do something dangerous but certainly not his. After those and a good 50 awfully phrased and often pointless questions I was ready to throw them out the window. And one day they'd better stop asking for marital status on these forms because it's not like they need to check whether the owner of the notes is male or female so they DON'T NEED TO ASK! Grrrr, rant over

Vikks Fri 11-Oct-13 17:14:29

I've posted a scan picture (hopefully) x

facebook it was me with the green notes. Shite colour eh. Are you in west london?
I agree with the stupid questions especially when I get embarrassed that my OH went from a hunky royal marine to a health and safety/risk management nerd! ;)

dobedobedo Fri 11-Oct-13 17:17:12

Aww Vikks that's so awesome! It looks like a little person already! I had a scan at 7 weeks and I could just see a peanut shaped blob!

Can't wait for the 12 week one. two weeks to go!

Saw your scan pic Vikks. The photo is really small on my screen, but very very cute. Congratulations on what sounds like a tough road to getting here. How amazing to have been told to expect the worst and here you are with a healthy little bean.

Facebook I completely agree about asking about your partners job. Couldn't believe that they asked that, but didn't bother to ask about my job!!

Ladies I have always known that we had a lovely thread, but today I am most appreciative of you all. I've had an unexpected day off from work and to amuse myself thought I'd read through a couple of the other antenatal threads!! Wowza, there are a few particularly spikey ones out there, with people who are so far up their own bum that they can't seem to grasp that other people might have different view points, and try and bulldoze everyone into their opinions with the undertone that if you disagree with them you're clearly stupid. I was about to log in and post saying something along those lines, and then realised it would be completely ridiculous and quite confrontational of me to do so. So instead ran back to the bossom of our lovely thread where people actually seem to like and respect each other.

loopylou52 Fri 11-Oct-13 17:26:24

Yay, congrats vikks, what an amazing day for you.

Facebook - sorry but your rant made me laugh because I thought at first that you were angry because they were green. And then I wondered if the colour of notes they gave you actually meant something specific (which I know is crazy). Clearly I need a weekend! I do agree some of the questions do seem pointless though.

dobedobedo Fri 11-Oct-13 17:28:45

I have green notes too!

bluestone85 Fri 11-Oct-13 17:29:41

Thanks Facebook. I might see how it goes and speak to mw on weds. If it gets any worse I will definitely go to my epau xx

Aww vikks your scan pic has made me all emotional! I love it! I would have a football team if we could afford it!

impatiently im going to have a nosey at the other threads you've intrigued me. Have to agree though we do have a lovely lot!

moobaloo Fri 11-Oct-13 17:31:52

Hello Maybies! I am enjoying reading all the chatter smile I have my first appointment with the Midwife in two weeks grin am very excited! daft woman hmm
7+5 today - nearly 2 whole months!! grin!

thistlelicker Fri 11-Oct-13 17:34:58

Where do u see pics?

bluestone85 Fri 11-Oct-13 17:38:02

Vikks the picture is beautiful! Look at your prefect little bean. Sooo exciting!!!! xx

Mumof2 I'll give you a clue. They are about as chatty as us Maybies, and aren't too far ahead of us.

Thistle, I think you need to be on a computer, I've never been able to do it on the app.

You click on the persons name, which takes you to their profile and there is a section for their photos.

impatiently martians then! ;)

thistlelicker Fri 11-Oct-13 17:48:18

On iPad!!! I can't use the web version :-(

I couldn't possibly say Mumof2 [wink}

I couldn't possibly say Mumof2 wink even!!

thistlelicker Fri 11-Oct-13 17:52:43

Oh they 11th thread them Martians

I started reading but I found their chatter boring in comparison to ours! ;) I freaking hate it when people are up their own asses.
Just opened a pack of cherry bakewells, got shite loads as they were on special, help yourselves ladies cake

Vikks Fri 11-Oct-13 18:02:02

Love bakewells!!!! Let me at 'em

moobaloo Fri 11-Oct-13 18:03:16

mmmm cherry bakewells! Thank you mumof2 I am actually sat here eating cherry tomatoes and they are scrummy - I'm halfway through the packet!

FacebookStoleMyLife Fri 11-Oct-13 18:04:19

LOOPY hehehe, that made me chuckle. Nope I have no problem with the colour green ;)

mumof2 I'm South London and I think they use these green ones in a fair few London hospitals.

ooh impatiently I'm intrigued, I might have a nose over there over the weekend. There was me thinking being supportive and open was the whole point of these forums, ho hum. Let's make a pact that when we're discussing breast v bottle, sleep training or weaning in later weeks that we'll be nice to each other. There are no wrong or right choices (except maybe hanging babies from the rafters to sleep, or filling bottles with vodka...), we have to pick for ourselves and making other mums feel bad about their decisions is just crappy smile

Minions Fri 11-Oct-13 18:08:17

Hey thistle, I'm on iPad but not on the app. Open as normal web page on Safari and then you can view profiles and pics smile

Thanks for posting picture Vikks, amazing!

I agree to the pact. Everyone has a different opinion and every mother and baby is different. We will all make different choices, I did things I said id never do with dd2, but needs must. (Nothing major, I just gave her formula as well as breast, so that dad could bond too, expressing doesnt work for me).

Definitely agree to the pact. Ah I feel a bit mean now. They aren't that bad - actually most of them seemed very nice, maybe just a bit forceful.

bluestone85 Fri 11-Oct-13 18:15:55

Haha. no one is to do any of these (courtesy ofy sister, mad aunty to be :-)): http://www.cracked.com/article_16475_20-baby-products-great-traumatizing-infants.html

Cybercat Fri 11-Oct-13 18:17:30

Good evening everyone. I apologise now for being really out of date with how everyone is getting on but I really need to post and get this off my chest. The last 24 hours have been bloody awful.

Last night DH and I went to a private clinic for a reassurance scan. I have had no bleeding and minimum pain (just the stretchy/twingy stuff that I know is normal). I was convinced that I was 8+3 and didn't want to wait another month for a scan. I have a friend who had a MMC which was at the back of my mind and I had also read that a health scan with a heartbeat at 8 weeks reduces the miscarriage risk dramatically. I just wanted to be able to relax a bit more.

Anyway, the lady who scanned me took measurements and agreed that they were consistent with my dates but could not find a heartbeat. I was given lots of sympathetic treatment and sent away with a referral letter expressing concern that there was an 8 week and 2 day foetus but no foetal heartbeat. She didn't perform a transvaginal scan as she needed another person to do it and they weren't there so it was an abdominal scan only. As you can imagine we didn't sleep much last night.

I was supposed to be having a booking in appointment with the midwife this morning and when she arrived I showed her the letter and explained what had happened. She was very sympathetic and on the basis of the letter advised me that she was sending me for a rescan but that she doubted it would be any different. She said that I wouldn't have to make any decisions today regarding management but suggested that I may want to take a bag with me just in case - I wasn't keen on the idea of going back to work next week and waiting to miscarry naturally.

Here comes the hero of the hour......
The EPAU nurse was lovely, no nonsense and really efficient. She initially scanned my abdominally and even to me the scan looked different, she said she wanted to perform a transvaginal scan with a second nurse present and I could tell that there was something going on although she did say it was standard practice for them to have two nurses to confirm a MMC.

However it turns out that I am actually 5 1/2 weeks pregnant and she showed us a heartbeat. Thats 3 weeks less than I though but the fact that there is a heartbeat is very promising. I am being rescanned a week today to look for growth and confirm that I am progressing.

Apart from DH and I being very upset the nurse was livid. She has phoned this clinic to ask for copies of the scan pictures to try and work out what was actually measured as there is a huge discrepancy between the 2 scans. They have promised to send the scans and are conducting an investigation. Had she not rescanned me and taken the clinic at their word I may have terminated a healthy pregnancy.

Interestingly she hates Clearblue Digital tests and told me not to ever use them again - I explained about my very faint positives using the cheapy tests and she said that fitted perfectly with me being 5 1/2 weeks but the digitals which I'd assumed were the best are actually misleading.

So yeah, am knackered and emotional right now. I'm also way behind you ladies and now a June baby. I feel too behind to join the June thread but I'm going to post in there to try and catch up as I don't really know where I fit in now!!

Please agree to the pact blush I want to try bf but I'm not sure... at the minute, I just can't imagine myself doing it, and I'm really worried I'll get judged for it sad

thistlelicker Fri 11-Oct-13 18:23:16

Wow cyber!!! shock@ original nurse!!! Glad your bean is sticking :-)

Cybercat Fri 11-Oct-13 18:23:41

Also apologies for not proof-reading as I can see my laptop has missed out letters which looks like I can't express myself well (I am worn out thoough!).

Aww Cybercat sounds so stressful, big cwtch for you!

Would it be an early June baby? If so, can you hover between the two groups but prefer us to them wink there'll always be friends in here for you to chat/squee/vent to smile

Oh cybercat what an ordeal ro have to go through. I hope the other Sonographer gets truly bollocked, if not worse! Glad the other mw made up for things although having to wait understandably drove you and OH crazy.
Stay here with us maybies, your one of us now regardless of your dates. What is your new dd? Xx

bouncysmiley Fri 11-Oct-13 18:34:09

Omg cyber what an absolute nightmare! I hope you are ok. Glad they are investigating it absolutely should not have happened. Shiver.

Cybercat Fri 11-Oct-13 18:36:48

I don't have a new due date as yet as I'm not sure when we actually conceived blush. My previous date was 20th May so I'm guessing around the 10th June? I'd like to hover between the two as I've been following you ladies but I feel that as you are more advanced now that from a symptom spotting point of view I'd be better off in June.

I know I've not had many symptoms but I have complained of exhaustion, breathlessness, night sweats and sore boobs and now I worry that at only 5 1/2 weeks I've just imagined it!

EPU nurse wasn't convinced that the private sonographer was properly qualified and said that anyone can set up these sort of clinics - thats frightening.

bluestone85 Fri 11-Oct-13 18:40:35

Omg cyber that's truly awful. I'm so glad you got that 2nd opinion! I hope that sonographer gets sacked!!!! glad your little bean is ok. Keep in the maybies too! xx

thistlelicker Fri 11-Oct-13 18:45:34

At what point do u think u actually feel pregnant

loopylou52 Fri 11-Oct-13 18:53:16

Gosh cybercat what a horrible, stressful time you've had! Glad to hear there's a healthy bean with a heartbeat, even if everything else is a bit confusing at the moment. Big hugs.

I definitely agree to the pact - I'm sure motherhood is difficult enough with enough guilt, without others imposing their views on people. This is a group for support! (Off for a sneaky look at the other thread now!)

Cupcake1985 Fri 11-Oct-13 19:00:43

Wow cybercat exhausting and horrendous! So glad it's all ok now.

Cybercat Fri 11-Oct-13 19:01:12

I would say that I have felt pregnant in the last 2 weeks for definite - in terms of tiredness etc. Thinking of it though DH was poorly a few weeks ago and was off sick yet luckily I didn't catch it so perhaps my earlier tiredness was just my immune system battling his bugs?

I'm in on the pact. We all just muddle along doing our best for our families and there are so many different opinions on raising healthy babies. I very much stick with the mantra on here about being warm, fed and loved.

Vikks Fri 11-Oct-13 19:02:43

Cybercat I really feel for you, what a thing to be put through. Congratulations on your little beans heartbeat, hold on to that. I think you should stay with the Maybies x x x

Magpie78 Fri 11-Oct-13 19:16:53

cybercat do stay! think I am gonna be not officially a Maybie either but maybe you and I can bring up the rear lol grin

Cybercat Fri 11-Oct-13 19:21:50

Deal Magpie78. Thank you everyone x

rebeccax2 Fri 11-Oct-13 19:22:15

cybercat that sounds like an ordeal indeed! Thank god for nurse #2.

I'm soooo tired at the moment, and sick to death of waking up to pee all night long! I have a long 2 week holiday in Malaysia and Bali when I'm 11/12 weeks so my scan will be a bit later than most on 12th November.

I'm starting to relax into this thing. I've had a the worries - coming and going symptoms, spotting etc and at nearly 9 weeks I am starting to believe.

Friday night in from of the box for me. What you all doing this weekend? I'm too tired to do anything! x

We're supposed to be going for a curry with friends on Saturday evening, they booked a table earlier than usual though because im so pathetically tired in the evening! Not sure I'll even eat much either. Just glad I've never been much of a drinker.

With you on the friday night in, OH has given up at stoppef at Paddington station for a pint on the way home.

MammySam Fri 11-Oct-13 19:31:48

Hi ladies
Just thought I'd pop on here to say goodbye as i Need to bow out of the group sadly sad
Been having lots of trips to the EPAU over the last few weeks and had a lot of scans over the last few weeks and today the scan showed the gestational sac was empty and hadn't grown in the last 10 days so a miscarriage is imminent. (I should be 8-9 wks so clearly thats not right!) Very sad but I guess that's nature.
Anyway I'm in to hospital for day surgery on Monday to have all tissue removed as the little sac has been sat there for a while now so safer to ensure its all removed in one go than allowing it to miscarry naturally and end up wit infections and goodness knows what else.
Anyway, best of luck to everyone elses pregnancies and hopefully I'll be back on here in a few months time joining up to a new ante-natal group!
Sam x

FacebookStoleMyLife Fri 11-Oct-13 19:33:13

wow cyber, you definitely deserve a cup of tea and a sit down this weekend after all that. How can someone get something so important so wrong! That tech and that clinic should be ashamed.

Moomin we're all here to support you whatever you choose. From what I can see yes there are health benefits from breast feeding but nothing is worse for a child's wellbeing than an upset, stressed, exhausted mummy. My experience of breastfeeding was this:

good sides - I won't bore you with the health benefits as enough people will probably chew your ear off about that. The weight fell off me. It's free. It's a lot easier to whip a boob out at 2am than make up and heat a bottle. It felt really nice, really special (but then I don't see why bottle feeding wouldn't be the same, I'm sure another of the already-mums on here could give her bottle feeding perspective)

bad sides - DS and I didn't get it right for a long time which meant I got very painful boobs, I really wish I'd asked for more help and I almost had to quit. Doing it in front of men I knew was really uncomfortable so I always had to slink off to the bedroom/bathroom. DS wouldn't take expressed milk so I couldn't go out for a night for a fair while. I could never share the night shifts with DH (then DP). I did feel uncomfortable doing it in public but actually never got any comments or even notice any nasty looks (a few surprised ones when people realise what you're doing but they had the good grace not to look upset about it).

So there you go, that's just my experience. It absolutely breaks my heart when mums beat themselves up for not breastfeeding or for having to stop.

Sam so sorry for your loss. Pop in and let us know when you join up another ante natal group. Keep yourself well, hope op goes ok on Monday. Xx

Magpie78 Fri 11-Oct-13 19:42:58

So sorry sam sending you a hug and virtual jammy dodgers.
Wishing you well x

moomin agree with facebook there is nothing easier than just rolling onto your side at night and popping a boob in babies mouth!
I exclusively breast fed dd1 for 6 months and exclusively bf dd2 for 6 weeks then combination fed with formula and breast until she was 9 months then went to just formula. It was the right way to do things for us at the time. I will combination feed this one too.

FacebookStoleMyLife Fri 11-Oct-13 19:48:53

Oh God Sam I'm so sorry. Rest, look after yourself and let yourself grieve. My heart goes out to you.
The TTC after miscarriage and pregnancy after miscarriage groups are really lovely and gave me loads of support when it came to trying again x

bluestone85 Fri 11-Oct-13 19:50:34

So sorry to hear about your loss Sam. Take care of yourself xx

MammySam Fri 11-Oct-13 19:56:28

Thanks everyone x

rebeccax2 Fri 11-Oct-13 19:56:50

Sorry sam thanks

Vikks Fri 11-Oct-13 19:58:23

Sam So sorry to hear your sad news. Good luck with everything, thinking of you.... x x x

dobedobedo Fri 11-Oct-13 19:59:25

Gosh cybercat what an ordeal!! Glad it turned out okay. I had a similar thing happen. Though without the awful incompetence you faced. Thought I was 13 weeks, went for a scan and just saw a big black space. After much prodding a 7 week old bean with a heartbeat was seen! It's disappointing to be less far along than you thought but... Heartbeat! Yay!
I agree with your pact. I'll join it too. I know I'll bf this one as I bf ds for almost 3 years. I'm too lazy for bottles! Also I figure that if I'm doing all the feeding, dh will have to do all the nappy changing. Right? grin [evil plan laugh]

dobedobedo Fri 11-Oct-13 20:00:28

mammysam I am so sorry thanks please look after yourself and I hope you get a sticky bean soon xx xx xx

Cybercat Fri 11-Oct-13 20:04:38

dobedobedo Fri 11-Oct-13 20:06:18

Today I'm exhausted and I've been sick 7 times. Think it's bed time and hope tomorrow I'll be able to keep something down. Night ladies thanks

Cybercat Fri 11-Oct-13 20:08:07

I am so sorry MammySam x

BoogiesBunny Fri 11-Oct-13 20:19:44

sam I'm so sorry, I hope that once the surgery is over that you take the time to heal in every way. Thinking of you and wishing you all the best.

For flip sake cyber I am so sorry that you have been through all that - it must have been the longest few days of your life! But all is well, and your little one seems very happy in his temporary home.

vikks the picture of your baby is stunning!

thistle and loopy how are you feeling tonight?

I've had cramps all day which is making me feel quite positive (if drained) that my tummy is growing for our wee prune although I keep checking my underwear for bad news

Does anyone else find that they are more hungry that usual? I can't work out if it's my natural greediness coming out or not!

BTW Definitely in on the pact!

CbeebiesIsMyLife Fri 11-Oct-13 20:19:46

After having a very good (and unexpected) cry earlier I'm feeling much better this evening!

Mummysam I'm so sorry, take care of yourself x

Moomin, just so you know I outright refused to bf dd1 for personal reasons I just couldn't do it. Dd2 I attempted but it got complicated so didn't try after the 1st. I want to try with this one, but would never ever judge anyone for any choice they make. I'm going to make an assumption and say thoes being up their arses are first time mums who have had it all easy. Things change when baby actually comes along, thoe firm held beliefs about dummies that you've held your entire life and will NEVER EVER change no matter what? They will melt away as you push a dummy in your babies mouth for a good nights sleep wink
Judging is for the AIBU threads not for pregnancy.

God I am so sorry Sam. Sounds like an awful few weeks and so sad that this is the outcome. Hope the op goes well and you get your sticky bean very quickly.

Cyber what a nightmare. Last night must have been awful. So pleased that the second nurse came good, glad your midwife was quick to act too. Please stay with us at least sometimes. Although the incredibly organised GillyBillyWilly from the conception busses is on the June thread so you know you will be made to feel welcome if you spend a bit if time there too.

rebeccax2 Fri 11-Oct-13 20:26:49

Hey booglesbunny I am hungrier than usual.. but I don't like the taste of anything I eat. :-(

I am eating 4/5 small meals a day now which works best for my nausea.

DOES ANYONE ELSE HAVE A LITTLE BUMP? I can definitely feel the belly firming up and starting to poke out.

BoogiesBunny Fri 11-Oct-13 20:30:53

DH is convinced I have a little bump and I'm beginning to agree. It's quite firm, rather than squiggy.

thistlelicker Fri 11-Oct-13 20:39:25

I've just been reading the June thread!! :-) I don't and won't belong there grin

BoogiesBunny Fri 11-Oct-13 20:41:03

Good - stay with us thistle!

thistlelicker Fri 11-Oct-13 20:44:05

I'm hoping to be induced in April! But I just feel I beling here x

What a lot of sad news. Wishing sticky beans when you lovely ladies and recovered body and mind.

I'm in on the pact. I think it is almost unnecessary here though, so far everyone respectful and supportive and would expect nothing less when we get further on.

Scan on Monday. I'm beyond excited! watching some comedy - and drinking some decaf tea to dunk some choc hobnobs in - to take my mind of it! My crazy party lifestyle. Can you keep up?

Dh and i clipped out one of our hounds yesterday as summer is definitely here and she's such a hairy monster (GOD x caucasian shepherd) that she can't cope with the heat. She seems so embarrassed though, as if she knows she's naked! Silly beast!

thistlelicker Sat 12-Oct-13 06:39:32

I wake up feeling very dehydrated and a rotten taste in my mouth !!! I've
Even brushed my teeth and I gag!!! Boobs are back to giving me
Grief :-(

bush I have a lemon drizzle cake in the kitchen (homemade from mummy smile) tempted to have a piece for breakfast now hmm

hamncheese Sat 12-Oct-13 07:39:38

cyber that is so stressful. Really glad that your LO seems well though, little miracle smile

sam unmumsnetty hugs on your loss

vikks congrats on your cute bean scan!

My scan pic is in profile ... But upside down for some reason hahaha, check it out. All was well, 11 weeks as I told them so have to have another scan in a week and a half which I'm kind of happy about... Value for money heh!

As for breastfeeding we did for 7 months it was the most amazing thing. I think if you are unsure the best you can do is aim to give it a shot. There are often issues especially surrounding tongue ties etc so if it doesn't work get LO checked for that. For us DS just took to it and it was so easy and so little faff. Only things that you should know are it hurts for a week or two in a small way which is normal then should ease if all is well and become second nature. The only thing I would change is I would give a bottle of expressed milk to get LO used to a bottle once bfing established to give some more freedom, my DS refused bottles argh smile

Hope you all have a fab day, I'm not feeling too sick today hooray. Actually going to Edinburgh to meet up with a bunch of mums from my due in August thread last time around!

McRedHead Sat 12-Oct-13 08:17:06

snoozy It's alright, I think I ate your share to!

Bush You should see a part short film called boundin', about a sheep who'd been shorn.

Ham I agree with the bf. People should be able to have their second baby first, birth and bf so much effort second time round, IME. Although I'm sure confidence and a bit of support would make a huge difference.

Enjoy your weekend everyone. MS free vibes all round.

Enjoy the weekend

McRedHead Sat 12-Oct-13 08:17:42

Cupcake1985 Sat 12-Oct-13 08:26:50

I've bought the santatogen with omega three this month. The omega three capsules are like round bullets! I have no problem with tablets but they are horrible to swallow! Feeling tired and rough and have to work today. Sad times.
