Who will be next? grin

IcingTheCake Tue 25-Jun-13 20:03:05

Lets hope this is it on this thread though! I dread having to go onto another antenatal thread because im late! grin

shelley72 Tue 25-Jun-13 20:14:21

marking place...

good luck for tomorrow notprincesskate, hope it goes ok.

feeling little bit calmer now, mostly because DH agrees with my thinking so will wait and see what tomorrow brings. have three weeks care for me sorted out post op by which time i was am hoping that school runs will be over and also DH came home tonight and they have cleared his diary for 6 weeks - so no travelling too far smile

dinkystinky Tue 25-Jun-13 20:19:21

Hurray for things coming together Shelley - hope you sleep better tonight as a result of having some plans in place.

MarieKL Tue 25-Jun-13 20:30:34

Congratulations to Different on the birth of Posy.

Shelley I'm so pleased things seem better now than they were earlier. Good luck for tomorrow. Could you ask to speak to the Superviser of Midwifes if it comes to the point where you really feel like you're not being listened too?

Dinky, glad your DS had a good day despite the delayed collection.

SundaySunshine Tue 25-Jun-13 21:02:16

Thanks for the new thread Dinky

Just marking my place, but good to hear things are a bit more settled for you Shelly.

Oh and good luck for tomorrow NPK smile

Glad the first day went well, dinky

Great to hear things seem to be getting better, shelley. Hope it goes well tomorrow.

Good luck tomorrow, npk

DD is at nursery tomorrow, so it's going to feel like my first proper day off since finishing work. Midwife is coming round at some point though, so I'm tied to the house all morning & I've loads of stuff I need to sort out too. Not sure it's going to be all that relaxing. smile

DH has gone to Glasgow for a conference, so this baby is definitely not allowed out in the next couple of days. I will be keeping my legs crossed.

esme80 Tue 25-Jun-13 21:41:26

Congratulations Different! Lovely name! Feeling v broody, want to meet my little one!

Glad to hear things are getting better Shelley. I also struggle with childcare, part of the reason Im hoping for a home birth. Have no family close. My mum is coming to stay on tuesday (from abroad) to help out, so if I did go over and need to be induced she will be here, which is a great relief as have been worrying. Now just hoping that will go into labour earlier and there will be community midwives available for home birh (my MW seems quite confident it wont be a problem)

Also getting very fed up! 39 weeks tom...

Thinkingof4 Tue 25-Jun-13 21:54:28

Congratulations different hope you are enjoying your first precious days with your daughter

Shelley I'm so glad things are looking a bit better now, I can understand the stress you've been under. I have plan a,b and c for when I go into labour and I'm still stressed about it!!

dinky thanks for new thread, I'm glad ds1 enjoyed his new school

Has vinegar posted today? Wonder if things are happening?

totally enjoy tomorrow! It's such a nice feeling having a whole day to yourself

I think I've done too much today, I'm totally exhausted now but just watching child genius before I go to bed. Ds1's front tooth fell out tonight so he has a lovely big happy smile and looks extra cute. He has been up twice so far tonight though to tell me he's worried tooth fairy won't find it!!
39 weeks today!

PhieEl06 Tue 25-Jun-13 21:57:27

Reappearing to say hi, & marking place. I'm useless at keeping up to date with this thread! blush Hope everyone is okay & like icing I'm hoping this will be the last antenatal thread for us all!
36+3

evelynj Tue 25-Jun-13 22:06:09

Thanks dinky & congrats different, love the name.

I've been eating loads of jelly belly sweets & feel sick now sad. Went to see my friends 1 week old today & he is ridiculously gorgeous, can't believe we're hopefully getting one in a few weeks!

Not sure how I'm going to entertain DS when playgroup ends at end of this week-any tips for lazy & exhausted mums with lo's to amuse?

Totally-have a fab day, what fun.

Thinking- that is so cute, how much does the tooth fairy pay in your house?

I slept with the wee pad thing under my sheet last night & it was horrid & sweaty-going to put a towel over it tonight & under the sheet in the hope it improves!

Hope everyone has a good night smile

dinkystinky Tue 25-Jun-13 22:08:10

Thinking - when ds1s first tooth fell out around 4 months ago I managed to wash it down the plughole while cleaning it. I had to write a grovelling mea culpa note to the tooth fairy for ds1 to out under his pillow - he was very relieved that the tooth fairy accepted it :-) Our labour plan a is our nanny, plan b my sister or her husband, plan c any neighbour we can rouse, plan d I go it alone with doula (who is now out of the country for most of the next week and a half) and dh stays home or plan e ( when everything else fails) unplanned home birth!

Silver15 Tue 25-Jun-13 22:08:28

Thanks Dinky for the new thread. Also glad DS had a good day at school.

Shelley glad things are working out for you.

Just marking my place.

dinkystinky Tue 25-Jun-13 22:11:15

Evelyn - if weather nice, paddling pool in garden and loads of toys to play with - will entertain for hours. Otherwise baking, floor picnics, craft stuff, dressing up and modelling balloons were good with mine when toddlers.

SlouchingPanda Tue 25-Jun-13 22:38:14

I'm betting we can easily fill up another thread - still 16 plenty of time til my due date and I'm certainly not feeling any imminent labour vibes smile.

dinkystinky Tue 25-Jun-13 22:51:19

Me too Slouching - no sign of Bean wanting to make a grand entrance anytime soon.

IcingTheCake Wed 26-Jun-13 00:23:22

shelley im glad things are looking a lot better for you!

Gah stupid insomnia is back, been dozing for a couple of hours and now awake because my whole body aches too bad to go back to sleep sad
It's going to be a fun night...

shelley72 Wed 26-Jun-13 04:26:24

Well I've succumbed to switching on mumsnet. Yes things have improved for after the birth, but still no change with setting an actual date though. That's today's battle. I'm not quite sure why they've asked me back in, I think they think that by making me hang around lots I will be slightly more amenable to their bullying suggestions! I feel completely railroaded and as though I have no say whatsoever in the birth of my baby. Like they're not really listening to my views at all . I'm also going to ask about their skin to skin / no breastfeeding in theatre policy (especially as it goes against unicef guidelines) which is what I'm supposed to be reading up on now. It's homework too so at least I'm doing something productive!

shelley - sorry you can't sleep either. In the hospitals I've worked at I haven't been aware of any policies on BF/skin-to-skin in theatre as such, but it really just hasn't been safe/practical. You're usually lying flat on your back with both arms up across your chest, a big drip, monitors and a surgical drape in front of you. There generally isn't room to safely hold a baby. They do encourage the partner to hold the baby sitting right next to your head though, so you can see/touch him/her. I've also seen fathers doing skin-to-skin in theatre.

shelley72 Wed 26-Jun-13 06:05:23

yes but i have big issue with dad doing skin to skin / having first hold stemming from my first birth. its in my notes so i hope that it will be considered (as long as we are both well obviously).

when i had DC2 (by section) my midwife came along and made sure that i was having skin to skin and feeding straight away (whilst being stitched up) - resulting in a much better experience, and no subsequent PND / BF issues. so i know it is possible to do, and i have been shown how baby should be placed on me (supported by DH) as im aware i will only have one arm free. now i just need to make the hospital understand how important it is to me. i think the suggestion of contacting the supervisor of midwives was quite useful and i may do this later on.

hope you managed to get back to sleep totally. im working my way through the latest series of HH smile

shelley72 Wed 26-Jun-13 06:06:29

oh and any news from ohgood yet? hopefully no news means she's enjoying newborn snuggles!

dinkystinky Wed 26-Jun-13 08:19:53

Good luck today Shelley - are you giving birth in the same hospital as you had DD in? If so, I dont see why they cant implement the skin to skin arrangements etc from last time round. Hope you Totally and Icing got more sleep.

MightBeMad Wed 26-Jun-13 08:46:41

Morning all - one week until due date!!!

MrsRoss26 Wed 26-Jun-13 08:48:48

Congratulations different on the birth of Posy, what a wonderful name smile

Shelley so glad you've been able to organise things post-op, that must be a massive weight off your shoulders. I'll be thinking of you today, hope all goes well with the hospital. When we talked about CS last night our nct lady seemed to think there should be no problem with skin to skin in theatre. I hope you can organise it.

Good luck npk! Hope all's well for you too! Looking forward to hearing about names.

totally I hope you get to fit in some relaxation today: maybe some Wimbledon will force a sit down?

thinking: your tooth fairy story is making me grin - what a cutie you have already!

Day x in the big brother house, and I'm already climbing the walls... bed is even more uncomfortable since (I think) baby has moved down and I can only sleep on my left sad

36 today though, so not long!

MightBeMad Wed 26-Jun-13 08:59:58

Wow - serious baby brain there - one month until due date!! blushgrin

MightBeMad Wed 26-Jun-13 09:02:31

Glad things are improving Shelley - hope talks today go well.

Good luck for tomorrow npk!!

Waves to everyone else - sorry the personals are so limited. Dashing off to aquafit (even though it's the last thing I fancy!). Have promised myself a nap afterwards smile

PhieEl06 Wed 26-Jun-13 09:21:53

Morning ladies, I feel very sick at the moment but might have something to do with the homemade chocolate & marshmallow brownies I have scoffed for breakfast! super healthy
I have to go into work today, although I broke up nearly two weeks ago for a bloody meeting about my pension, it's the last thing I want to be doing but apparently it's "really important".
36+4 & feeling fed up!

Thinkingof4 Wed 26-Jun-13 09:24:41

Shelley my sister had an elcs v recently and was able to do skin to skin in theatre which has helped her loads in getting bf sorted (didn't have skin to skin last time and had a lot of problems getting feeding going after that.) So it should be possible with the right support. Hope you can at least get agreement on this today

Evelyn it's £1 a tooth in this house! Slight problem we had last night was that dh put tooth wrapped in tiny bit of tissue under pillow and tooth fairy could only find paper and no tooth! So I will be searching ds1's bedroom this morning to find the blimin' thing! He came through at 6.20 this morning with his money and wouldn't go back to sleep...

On phone so not doing any more personals as my brain can't cope. Cheeky baby changed position at some point yesterday I realised when I went to bed that it was kicking me in upper left abdomen instead of right! Cue night of worrying about this, but it has turned back to normal position now. I just really want to avoid OP, they have always been LOA so far an my births have been ok. Not sure how I'd manage with OP...

Hope everyone slept ok last night I was far too hot but couldn't open windows as the midges were unbelievable and swarms of them kept coming in ( I resorted to hoovering them up before putting boys to bed last night grin )

MrsMillions Wed 26-Jun-13 09:30:18

Thanks dinky for the shiny new thread. Is this #9 for us?

Shelley glad you've made progress with post birth plans, hope you get to a better place with the birth itself today and aren't kept waiting too long.

slouching your visitors sound great, doing all those jobs, but I completely appreciate you'd have been glad to get your house back. Not sure I could cope with any extras right now, helpful or not.

I'm being beautified this morning - eyelash tint, eyebrow shape, pedicure. Will be nice not to worry about mascara on my pale lashes - applying, smudging or removing! Then midwife this afternoon, hope to find out quite how much baby has dropped.

Big congrats to different.

37+6

IcingTheCake Wed 26-Jun-13 09:44:19

Shelley Hopefully they'll be a bit better about it today. I was told if I end up with a EMCS I should still get skin to skin, so I don't see why it couldn't be arranged for ELCS. Worth finding out I think smile

MightBe If only it was one week left!! So jealous of those that are due before me grin Have fun at Aquafit!

Phie Ooh well, if you're going into work today you do deserve the brownie! There is talk of buying a waffle maker in my household today, after the cakey talk on fb group yesterday!

Thinking It's quite surprising how much they can move at this point don't you think? When we all feel like they're huge and there can't possibly be any more room, they start doing somersaults!

MrsMillions Genius idea with the eyelashes! I considered the extensions but they look too strange when they start falling out, I just know I'd be left with one on each eye at the end of labour wink

Getting cramps today, lasting about 5 minutes each but about 15/20 minutes apart, don't think anything is going to happen to be honest - just not 'feeling it' if that makes sense? I wish our due dates were accurate! Would save all the symptom spotting!

36+4

dinkystinky Wed 26-Jun-13 09:50:39

I think its thread 9 or 10 - hard to keep track! Enjoy your pampering MrsMillions.

Thinking - good luck with operation find the tooth! £1 a tooth here - but some of ds1's friends get a fiver a tooth!!! Its meant to get really hot next week - 27 degrees plus - so may be worth investing in a fan or something in preparation. Im so hot at nights I tend to leave windows open till 11ish and sleep under a sheet - dh is huddled under a duvet as he complains its too cold!

cheekbyjowl Wed 26-Jun-13 10:54:31

Thanks for setting up the thread dinky. I'm glad a pound is the going rate these days..the last child I asked was the son of an investment banker and he told me the tooth.fairy had left him an ipad under his pillow! I thought if that was the norm by the time my child is 8 they'll probably expect a small freehold or something smile

Good luck today npk and shelley I hope you are given more options today

I'm about to go to my 38 week check so working.from home ehich is lovely

Persuasion Wed 26-Jun-13 10:54:58

Good morning all.

I read all the updates since yesterday this morning then went back to bed so I've forgotten who said what, sorry! Glad you're feeling a bit better about things shelley, I'm sure you'll work something out. Hopefully that should include skin to skin. Definitely chase up the senior midwife.

MightBe I am due one week today! No sign of anything convincing yet though.

Regarding the tooth fairy this is my first so I haven't had to think of it yet. £1 sounds reasonable to me, £5 seems a bit excessive! DH is a lawyer so I suspect in our house if they make a good argument for more all will be negotiable (although would obviously need to write to the tooth fairy to argue it grin )

MrsMillions enjoy your pampering session.

vinegar you have been quiet. Does this indicate something happening I wonder? Good luck if so.

I had to go to labour ward last night for monitoring for reduced movement but all was fine. We were even home by 10pm! Baby is head down but had turned so her back was on my right, I don't know if that's why the movements felt less but she's making up for it today.

The bad news is my washing machine is irreparably broken but the good news is they're coming to fit a new one this afternoon.

Right, had best get going if I'm going to make the midwife appointment.

39 weeks today shock

Beginningofthejourney Wed 26-Jun-13 11:01:09

shelley we were told at breast feeding class it should still be possible to do skin to skin after cs. I didn't get to do it as Theo went to scbu however I went to the class after he was born and I was struggling to get him to latch on and the lady said to do skin to skin as much as possible and he would still move down, I (and scbu nurses) was very skeptical but I duely went back to scbu and popped Theo down my top for the afternoon and low and behold he did wiggle throughout the afternoon towards my breast and started to get better at breast feeding. Just wanted to share my experience for those of you who don't get the initial skin to skin time there is still a benefit on doing it later on.

dinkystinky Wed 26-Jun-13 11:20:35

Persuasion - I'm a lawyer and my children's negotiation skills definitely arent up to the job yet of persuading me that more than £1 is reasonable. Am shock at the ipad from the tooth fairy. What do they get for a molar? A horse under their pillow?? Sorry you had a scare last night but glad all is ok with you and your baby. Enjoy the new washing machine! Good time to get a new one...

CitizenOscar Wed 26-Jun-13 12:00:09

Just marking my place on new thread really. Have been really tired & just found out I'm anaemic so hopefully some extra iron will sort me out.

Hello to everyone else. Hope to hear of more babies arriving soon, as long as they're ready of course grin

IcingTheCake Wed 26-Jun-13 12:23:15

Persuasion Glad everything was okay in the end! smile

Citizen Sorry to hear about being anaemic sad at least you've found out and hopefully the iron tablets will really help! smile

PhieEl06 Wed 26-Jun-13 12:37:31

I hope you enjoyed your beautification MrsMillions, liking the idea of an eyelash tint!

Icing the waffle maker sounds like a fantastic idea! Especially seen as we now know you can freeze them! I considering more baking tonight, possibly some chocolate macaroons (sp?).

Dinky thanks for the warning of hot weather, glad now I haven't eBayed maxi dresses & maternity shorts! I'm not liking the idea of being a hot & bothered pregnant lady, Portugal wasn't too bad as there was a lovely breeze most of the time!

Cheek shock at the iPad for a tooth, I'd be pulling my teeth out if I was that child. Seen as its my first I have no idea like Persuasion on going rates for the tooth fairy but I had 50p a tooth & that wasn't all that long ago. 12 years maybe

Citizen sorry to hear about being anaemic, it's a pain in the arse but the iron tablets do make a huge difference in energy levels IMO.

IcingTheCake Wed 26-Jun-13 12:45:38

Ooh I might make cookies!

Im afraid i might be hormonal shock my mum sent me a text this morning saying shed popped the last apple tango in the fridge for me - i LOVE apple tango recently, dont know why but I could drink litres smile - anyway, i went to get it to have with lunch, and my brother has already drunk it shocksad i now have no tango, no car and its too far to walk to the shops in this humidity sad we don't have any regular apple juice either, or apples! Hormones are telling me its perfectly reasonable to never talk to my brother again grin

My dd was one of the last to lose tooth in her class and annoyingly everyone else has been getting £2. I thought this was too much but i couldn't work out a good enough argument for the difference so caved, nearly killed me!
Phie hope the meeting at work passes quick. Runs i dont know how you're still doing it and the other prrson who i have temp forgot.
I wonder how c section is going for nicola( unsure of mnet name)

dinkystinky Wed 26-Jun-13 13:44:54

Sorry to hear about the anaemia CitizenOscar - hope the iron supplements make you feel better soon. Icing - I'd text your mum/brother asking them to bring some back with them please. I loved appletiser when pregnant with DS1.

We have builders in the house today and for the rest of the week sorting out some snagging work for us - have told Bean to definitely stay put for the time being till they're done!

Grannyapple Wed 26-Jun-13 14:02:39

Hi ladies...have stupid chest infection (had it since tail end of last week)...was hoping it would shift but it hasn't, so off sick from work today. Finally got to speak to a doc yesterday who agrred i needed antibiotics (couldn't get an appt in Monday after barely 2 hrs sleep & struggling to breathe, I burst into tears sad). But they haven't fully kicked in yet.. Still got another week if work left yet so think I might be working from home next week & then go in on last day for final handover bits...

Had 36wk mw appt yesterday....was surprised to find out that baby is 2/5 engaged...I'm fairly sure DS didn't engage til later, but that could be a lazy boy thing, lol! But hoping she doesn't make an appearance before July 12th as that's when sis arrives...she's being tasked with being chief entertainer to DS & general skivvy to me & DH once bubba is here grin. No but seriously, she was great last time...arrived with essential groceries, did some washing for us, cooked dinner, kept an eye on DS whilt DH & I got some much needed shuteye...DH wanted to pay get to stay longer with us grin.

Re tooth fairy, my best friends little girls teeth have started falling out...I asked what the going rate was. & she replied that luckily one of the other girls in her class was given a gold chocolate coin grin. Kinda defeats the purpose slightly, but she was happy with that!

Apologies for long post...feel like I'm burning up now so off to try & cool down & catch up on some much needed kip!

VinegarDrinker Wed 26-Jun-13 14:13:12

Afternoon, folks. Bless those of you asking after me, sadly not a sign of baby emerging but a poorly toddler taking up all my attention! DS has been off nursery with some non specific viral thing so my planned few days of lazing around haven't quite worked out.

Having said that my Mum has dropped by today and having just put DS down for his nap I've been banished to the bedroom with tea and cake and instructed to rest, so I will!

Sorry not to do personals

39+1

shelley72 Wed 26-Jun-13 14:14:20

Back briefly before school run. Well I burst into tears on supervisor of midwives at my appointment - not a good look and am now officially crazy hormonal pregnant lady. my first episode. All over my wishes of skin to skin asap and everything about ds's birth came flooding out shock. It is now in my notes in various places how important it is to me so I just hope on the day someone actually reads them.

I was due to see my consultant as he has the authority to book extra sections or move slots but he was busy in clinic and wanted up to date info first to decide how urgently they need to get the baby out. So they scanned me and I'm glad they did. the placenta is still fine, and my fluid back up and within normal range, so no longer have oligo. Which is all fantastic news as delivery is now not as urgent smile. No-one had actually spoken to me yesterday about why they were pushing for a section this week, they had not said they were so worried about the baby - maybe I am just a bit dim! So back at end of week to speak with him and see from there I guess. All after I managed to sort my mum for babysitting on Fri. Typical eh.

Anyway I am horrified that the going rate for a tooth these days is an iPad. Two children, twenty teeth each - that's going to cost!!!

39 weeks. Wonder how much further I will get?

VinegarDrinker Wed 26-Jun-13 14:16:52

shelley that sounds really positive all round, v glad to hear it.

dinkystinky Wed 26-Jun-13 15:22:31

Shelley - sometimes tears are called for to get through to people how frustrated and stressed you are. Sounds like they did the trick and you had a much more positive day all round.

Vinegar - sorry Ds is ill. Hope he gets better soon and you get your down time in before baby arrives.

Granny - hope the abs kick in soon for you. Take care and keep your fluids up.

Thinkingof4 Wed 26-Jun-13 16:21:13

vinegar hope ds is better soon, I imagine your body is 'waiting' till he is so you can have this baby

shelley good to hear fluid levels are ok again, sounds positive

granny sounds grim, keep your fluids up and rest

dinky did dh enjoy Wimbledon? Who did he see?

So anyway, 6 days till due date here and no sign of anything happening, no twinges, no dicky tummy, no show.
Has anyone else had any signs yet like their show? I'm sure I had mine before sweep last time (therefore before due date) so hoping this baby isn't planning to be as late as ds1 (induced at term plus 13!)
For those who already have dc(s) did you have any 'pre-labour' signs?
(I should really just sit back and enjoy the tennis but I'm paranoid about baby going OP given the change of position last night so don't want to be lounging on je couch, and not finding my ball very comfy for any length of time)

Ooh another question, given that this is dc4 and the first 3 were OA, is it less likely that I would be OP this time??
confused

Persuasion Wed 26-Jun-13 16:22:51

shelley I think given the circumstances tears are justified. Sounds like there had been some progress anyway which is good news.

Sorry for poorly ds vinegar. Glad you're ok though.

Still no news from ohGood? Hopefully that means she's just too busy snuggling her newborn to come on here!

My midwife appointment was unexciting. At the last one baby's head was only 2/5 palpable, and now it's 4/5 so going the wrong way! I'm hoping it's just a different midwife feeling it differently, but will be spending the rest of the day bouncing on my ball just in case...

photographerlady Wed 26-Jun-13 16:53:50

Wow you ladies can talk.. I just noticed the move.

congrats Different

Hope it's going well OhGood

Anyone else feel like they are about to sneeze and have a baby? I had the oddest BH and cramps last night, took two painkillers and finally got to bed. Today she feels sooooo heavy and have a lot of cervix (well area) pain. I hope she can hold out to at least after my driving test tomorrow or maybe this is a small phase and I will go into lovely ache-free pregnancy mode.

Thinkingof4 Wed 26-Jun-13 17:34:06

Ooh photographer good luck with your driving test! How exciting!

Forgot to say earlier I found the missing tooth! Don't know how ds1 didn't see it when he got up (was on floor beside his bed) but at least I don't have to worry about him finding it now. Feel strangely attached to it, and can't quite bring myself to throw it in the bin...

Trying to remember is it today that npk was having section??

Bessie123 Wed 26-Jun-13 17:39:01

Hello all. I don't know if any of you remember me - I started off on this thread but miscarried at 12 weeks because the baby had a chromosomal problem. I just popped in to say congratulations to all of you who have had your babies early and to wish the rest of you easy births grin

flowers

dinkystinky Wed 26-Jun-13 17:48:29

Bessie - thank you for popping in and your best wishes. Am hoping all is well with you.

Thinking - yes its NotPrincessKates turn to pop today.

shelley72 Wed 26-Jun-13 19:49:37

photographer good luck with your test tomorrow - is the test centre still at the top of that hill - they usually get you to do a hill start there! i'm not in town tomorrow unless i am sent to hospital again so you will have one less ditsy driver to deal with grin

am hoping that tonight brings some sleep - what with the children waking up every hour or so last night and me being uncomfy and awake i am now completely shattered. apprentice and early night for me i think!

SundaySunshine Wed 26-Jun-13 19:54:25

Thanks bessie nice to hear from you, hope all is well with you?

Ooh thinking my mum kept all my teeth! Sounds a bit gross but she cleaned them up smile

Sorry to hear your DS is poorly vinegar hope he gets better soon.

bigbelly4 Wed 26-Jun-13 20:02:53

hello ladies - just marking my spot!

I am utterly fed up with this pregnancy lark now. I never understood it when people said that to me before as previous pregnancies I have breezed through!

Just so uncomfortable and moody and generally a stroppy madam at the moment. Then feel uber selfish as its not about me but the baby but bugger me I hope it comes out soon!

Anyway I shall grumble off.........

Sashabella0 Wed 26-Jun-13 20:14:26

Hi ladies

Just marking my spot really.

Went to a helpful NHS breast feeding workshop this morning. Trying to spend the rest of my time revising for two 3 hour exams I have on Monday. Just what I need at this stage of pregnancy. The builders are finished so I just want to get the house in order. It'll have to wait until Tuesday though.

36 today

shelley sorry I don't get to respond to your 6am post earlier, but DD came in to tell me she was awake a 5:15 and this is the first chance I've had to get back online all day. None of the women I've looked after during CS have particularly wanted skin-to-skin in theatre, but I'm sure that if any of them expressed a wish for it, they would be assisted - there's plenty of people there to support you in theatre. It's definitely not impossible! Glad things are looking up.

Had my home MW appointment today. Another 'stand in' for the MW I'm meant to be seeing, but haven't met yet. All went well, measuring as 33 1/2, which is ok. Baby is head down, but I'm sure it's on the right, so I'm hoping it'll shift over.

photographer - good luck tomorrow!

MrsWildermac Wed 26-Jun-13 20:19:05

Hello ladies, sorry not been on here much recently...lots going on getting work done to the house and seem to have spent far too much time in Ikea than is normal (has anyone ever noticed how many pregnant women seem to be in Ikea?!). 37weeks today but not a single BH or twinge or even pressure...feel like this baby won't ever want to get out!

This really is it ladies...we're nearly there!

PhieEl06 Wed 26-Jun-13 21:03:25

Icing perfectly reasonable! or I'm just hormonal too

Grannyapple boo I hope you feel better soon!

Shelley sometimes tears are needed to show just how much you want something & the fact you're pregnant allows it! Glad that you've made the supervisor of midwives aware of your preferences!

MrsWildermac I need to have an ikea shop soon, will be joining the many pregnant ladies!

MrsMillions Wed 26-Jun-13 21:08:02

Well the pampering was fab, my feet look better than they have for ages and I'm loving the lashes. Sometimes get them done for holidays, and whilst it's no substitute for full mascara volume it is great by day when you have pale ones.

Midwife said I'm 4/5 palpable so baby has started moving but has a bit further to go. I'm also on the iron supplements, but surgery neglected to tell me so they've been sat in the pharmacy for 10 days. Got them now, I'm right on the cusp of needing them so not too much problem with the delay. Just hoping to avoid side effects.

Eek at the tooth fairy inflation since my day! I think I might have been on 10p a tooth, 20p a molar...possibly progressing to 50p for the final ones. Better start saving, or hoping for a friend like the one mentioned paid in chocolate coins.

esme80 Wed 26-Jun-13 21:14:35

Good luck with your test tomorrow photographer!

persuasion Im due in a week too! MW appointment tomorrow, last time was 1/5 engaged so will see if shes headed the right way... Am having very strong BH every evening now, getting painful, but stop after an hour or so. Trying to not spot for signs, but just getting so fed up!

dinkystinky Wed 26-Jun-13 21:41:31

Dh tells me he saw Jocovich and Nadal at Wimbledon earlier this week.

MrsWildermac - 39 weeks here tomorrow and no signs of imminent labour either. Oh well, Bean will come when it wants to...

Abzs Wed 26-Jun-13 22:26:20

Best of luck tomorrow photographer!

I decided last night while watching obem that perhaps I ought to consider some pain relief other than paracetemol and entonox. Have put in my plan that I'd prefer Remifentanil over an epidural (if it gets that bad) and have also hired a tens machine. I think it works - tried it out this evening on a nasty set of bh which were made worse by iron tablet based constipation.

Was 4/5 palpable at 37wk appt and I'm pretty sure it's moved down more. Can I also apply for membership of the fed up gang?

evelynj Wed 26-Jun-13 23:03:48

iPad for a tooth? These parents should be publicly humiliated!

Bessie-thanks for popping in & hope you're feeling ok. I know it's hard when your due date comes round after mc.

Millions-I have a lash and brow tint and wax booked for week before elcs. DId it before DS and it made me look a good bit less dead!

I suddenly can't get comfortable any more just sitting down.

After all the work we've almost got finished in the house for a guest suite, my blimmin in laws have said on Skype tonight when they do come that they are going to stay in a hotel as that would be easier! Wtf? There is a lovely bedroom with attached bathroom on a separate floor for them. Is it too much to ask that everyone just do things the way I want them to?!!

Photographer- good luck with the test. Wish my dh would do his! Keep us updated smile

SlouchingPanda Wed 26-Jun-13 23:12:16

Dear Primarni,

Thank you for making a grumpy, tired and hormonal 38 week pregnant lady happy with your completely ridiculous sizing. Your 'Love to Laze' dress will be perfect for chilling out pre-delivery and for breastfeeding post birth, and the fact that the size 6/8 fits my ginormous bump (despite the fact that, let's be honest, I'm a pre-pregnancy 12 in any sensible shop) has cheered me up no end.

Lots of love,

SlouchingPanda grin

IcingTheCake Thu 27-Jun-13 02:42:49

evelyn oh no! They probably think they're doing a favour by not being under your feet, but how annoying! smile Oh well, it'll stay good as new a little while longer now! smile

slouching oh wow i need to get me some of those wink because if the label says it i must look that size right? grin

Anybody else awake? Keep being sick, so cant even risk being in be at the moment sad although at least i dont feel too tired yet

Icing - hope you've stopped being sick! Could it be the start of something?

evelyn - trust me, the best place for your ILs is a hotel. Respect to them for giving you space! (also, no cleaning of guest room & extra laundry after their visit!)

Slouching - you'll have to wear the dress with the label on display wink

37 weeks today & really annoyed because after doing loads of research to get the best prices, I bought 2 things online on Tuesday. Have just got emails from both companies to say the items are out of stock & giving me a refund. I'll have to research everything again now. So frustrating!

IcingTheCake Thu 27-Jun-13 03:22:54

totally oh no! How annoying sad worse than not finding anything in the first place! I wish it was the start of something but I've not even had twinges, i think shes just pushed up is all, whereas she was starting to engage over the last week

shelley72 Thu 27-Jun-13 03:34:26

I'm awake too.

I've just had a baby girl smile.

Yay shelley - congratulations!!!!

Did you get your skin-to-skin? Hope it all worked out the way you wanted.

VinegarDrinker Thu 27-Jun-13 03:45:22

Congratulations shelley !

Sashabella0 Thu 27-Jun-13 04:23:57

Congratulations Shelley. Xxxx

Woohoo! Well done shelley. Hope it all went as you wanted and all is good now, looks like your mum will be babysitting on friday after all! Gantastic news

dinkystinky Thu 27-Jun-13 04:58:30

Congratulations Shelley - good thing your mum is lined up to come help this week after all! Hope all went well with the birth and you and your new dd are both doing well x

photographerlady Thu 27-Jun-13 06:09:04

Congrats Shelley!!!

SlouchingPanda Thu 27-Jun-13 06:19:34

Congratulations Shelley!

Good luck for today, Photographer.

Sympathies to all those with sleeping trouble. Last night I couldn't get to sleep at all. Must have drifted off eventually as I've just woken up on the sofa all tangled up in my dressing gown and duvet with vague memories of dreaming I pushed out a baby which looked a bit like a dinosaur hmm

Grannyapple Thu 27-Jun-13 06:36:12

Yay...congrats shelley

Cheeseandbread Thu 27-Jun-13 07:04:39

Congratulations Shelly! Hope you got skin to skin and were able to breast feed like you wanted. Does she have a name yet? I hope your DH got to be there too like you wanted.

All the tooth fairy talk is funny... I can't believe the iPad!! I used to get 20p, sometimes 50p then I think it went up to a pound for molars- I'm 30 this year.

Dinky I'm glad DS1 liked his induction even if he did have to wait to be picked up.

Icing sorry you are feeling sick at the moment. I hope you got some sleep in the end.

Good luck today photographer

Any news from NPK? Hope it went well yesterday.

I'm very impressed with myself as I only went for two wees last night! (Usually average four!) and I went back to sleep. Woohoo. I was bouncing on my ball and drank some raspberry tea- wonder if that helped?...

I find it strange that there is such a big window that we can have our babies in... I'm 37 weeks on sat so anytime in the next five weeks...I'm hoping sooner rather than later.

36+5

Cheeseandbread Thu 27-Jun-13 07:06:58

Slouching I like the dinosaur baby smile and your primarni post made me laugh too. Wish I had one near me!

CitizenOscar Thu 27-Jun-13 07:20:03

Congrats Shelley!

IcingTheCake Thu 27-Jun-13 08:03:55

Congratulations Shelley! How exciting, hope it all worked out okay in the end! smile

slouching oh dear! What a strange dream grin

cheese i was thinking that yesterday, anytime 5 weeks from Saturday i will have a baby, not could, WILL!! Haha scary thoughts smile

Managed to get some sleep about half three last night, slept very lightly though and now the lovely bin men are keeping me awake by stopping outside my house to collect the bins sad

36+5

dinkystinky Thu 27-Jun-13 08:09:49

Slouching - ROFL at your dream. T-Rex sounds like a good name option for your baby if a boy - maybe Steggie for a girl? grin Have been up since just before 5 today but cant complain as got a good 6 hours solid sleep before then. Hurrah for Primarni clothing!

Cheese - I know, the window in which you can have a "term" baby is ridiculously huge isnt it?

Icing - hope you get some kip in today.

Evelyn - I think your inlaws are trying to be considerate rather than annoying. Anyway, enjoy the extra space you have without them staying there!

Woah shelley.8 pm you post and 8 hours later you've a daughter. that's incredible. So not the good nights sleep you hoped for but something far far better! CONGRATULATIONS

GeorgieWilson Thu 27-Jun-13 08:50:28

Congratulations Shelley! Hope all is well. X

esme80 Thu 27-Jun-13 09:07:46

Congratulations Shelley! Hope you are both doing well!

You know, in Sweden we dont really do the tooth fairy thing, obviously Ive been missing out! Need to let my mother know they owe me several Ipads!
Mw apptmt today, thats it. Going to take all my energy to manage that... DS getting very bored with me at the moment.

MightBeMad Thu 27-Jun-13 09:29:26

Congratulations Shelley!!!!

SlouchingPanda Thu 27-Jun-13 09:57:59

Loving the dinosaur name suggestions!

I can guarantee that next up won't be me, because the shop assistant in Wilkos told me there's no way I'd have my baby in the next two weeks as my bump is still so high... (yes, I really am splashing the cash hitting Primarni AND Wilkos in the same day!).

Looking forward to heading more from Shelley. Icing, hope you get the chance to nap... I'm heading back to bed now to hopefully buy back a few more hours.

Persuasion Thu 27-Jun-13 10:26:11

Congratulations shelley that was quick work on someone's part! I'm looking forward to the story when you're ready. I hope you got the skin to skin that you wanted.

My insomnia seems to have settled now which is nice. I unfortunately have no idea what changed so can't make any suggestions for the rest of you. I'm still up 3 or 4 times a night for the loo though.

Slouching great dream. And good shopping! I find those sort of comments really irritating. I think I'm in the minority not minding being asked when I'm due or 'what is it (boy/girl) But I don't like anything commenting on how late or early it'll be our on my size.

icing sorry you feel sick. Hopefully it'll settle soon.

Sorry, I can't remember who else said what, I blame baby brain!

I have a new washing machine and it seems to work! This had produced much joy in the persuasion household! Otherwise I'm just powering along and not going into labour...

Persuasion Thu 27-Jun-13 10:28:03

Oh goodness I really should read back before I post. Ignore any randomness please! My phone seems determined that I power rather than potter!

Beginningofthejourney Thu 27-Jun-13 10:57:27

Wow congratulations shelley DD obviously thought it was causing you too much stress to 'plan' so just got on with it!smile
slouching my friends were laughing at me 2 days before Theo arrived because my bump was so high and I could rest my arms on top of bump cos my boobs were in the way, I fact I don't think my bump dropped until just before everything started!

MrsMillions Thu 27-Jun-13 11:12:13

Congrats Shelley, love how you told us xx

photographerlady Thu 27-Jun-13 11:57:58

Well home from my driving test and I passed! Poor test guy asked me half way through when the baby is due and almost wimpered when I said any time now smile

What a bag of stress and nerves to shake off....never waiting til the end of my pregnancy for something like that again.

evelynj Thu 27-Jun-13 12:03:10

Shelley-congrats, that's wonderful. Sweet little post too, made me weepy!

Persuasion, glad you're enjoying the washer! Think I have to get dh to move the tumble drier in the garage to be suitable for occasional use after lo arrives.

Tiler is hammering away so end of chaos is in sight, woo hoo. I'm sure in laws are trying to be sweet going to hotel, will just try to chill out a bit mo about everything as I seem to be thinking the worst of everything!

VinegarDrinker Thu 27-Jun-13 12:09:24

photographer - hooray! Well done!

MightBeMad Thu 27-Jun-13 12:14:19

Yey! Well done photographer!

Congratulations photographer!

Glad to hear you've got a new washing machine sorted, Persuasion - I wouldn't fancy having a newborn & no washing machine.

SlouchingPanda Thu 27-Jun-13 12:43:03

Hurray! Congratulations Photographer!

Beginning - so there's hope I might go into labour today? and thus not have to go to my annual progress review at work on Friday??

Persuasion glad to hear about your washing machine situation. I am still beside myself at having a fridge that (1) keeps things cold and (2) doesn't make a racket. I love it when things work grin

Right, someone kick my pregnant arse into getting up off the sofa and actually doing something.

VinegarDrinker Thu 27-Jun-13 12:57:04

Slouching you're not ARCP-ing this week? Bloody hell. And your ST2/3 one too? You are brave insane I would've just said (and have) "Sorry, on mat leave, see you in Jan".

Beginningofthejourney Thu 27-Jun-13 13:15:34

slouching I had curry the night it all started dont know if that was the cause! smile that's my kick to get you off the sofa to make curry! (Mine was actually a microwave one cos I was knackered!)

Thinkingof4 Thu 27-Jun-13 13:35:10

shelley congratulations! Your post was lovely, a sleepy but in love kind of post smile

photographer well done you! That's a great achievement anytime never mind at the end of pregnancy

persuasion hope your new washing machine has arrived

icing hope you are feeling better - or maybe being sick was the start o something?

dinky your dh must have had a great time, lucky him!

Evelyn I'd much rather have family staying elsewhere, but can understand your frustration!!

slouching you are brave going back for assessment thingy, ive got my appraisal in october and just kind of putting it to the back of my head... Still got loads to do too

Anyway sun is out again so I've changes into something sl cooler and am eating some frozen yoghurt (very yummy, thanks for the suggestion dinky!)
planning to rest for an hour or so while ds3 naps then off on school/nursery run and hopefully park if it's still nice. Ds1 also has school disco tonight so a busy afternoon and evening ahead
Tennis beckons meantime

Cheeseandbread Thu 27-Jun-13 13:43:00

Woohoo well done Photographer!

Just baked some biscuits and now ironing while watching Wimbledon. DH normally iorns his own shirts but I'm getting though a big pile so that should make him happy.

Hospital bag is mostly packed- just need to put in some clothes for me (and a friend suggested a change of clothes for DH which I hadn't thought of...)

Still have school filing to do but keep pretending its bit there... Dinky I should have made myself do it straight away like you... Now it's the monster in the room or stuffed down the side of the sofa

I've started on the raspberry leaf tea... But I don't think I have the strong stuff. Is anyone else drinking any? What brand are you using?

Cheeseandbread Thu 27-Jun-13 13:43:56

Bit there should read 'not there'

SlouchingPanda Thu 27-Jun-13 14:14:22

Vinegar - afraid so... I haven't ticked all the boxes, so won't be progressing. Think the Head of School just wants to keep tabs and have a plan for when I return. I did float the idea of not coming but this was swiftly rejected by my college tutors I figure on balance it's probably best if I go to explain quite why I haven't met all of the competencies for this year. Seems sensible to come back at ST2 level for a bit anyway - no way I would want to come straight back to ST3!

Also, I'm not officially on maternity leave yet... 2 weeks annual leave first so don't feel I can argue. Still, I am dreading going and have been daydreaming of GDM, OC or other 'induce at 38 weeks and do not pass go' complications which would mean I can legitimately give it a miss! <disclaimer - I'm really very grateful to have had a trouble-free pregnancy and wouldn't really want any complications just so I can skive an assessment> wink. It's only 20 minutes of my life, then FREEDOM!

VinegarDrinker Thu 27-Jun-13 14:24:44

Well at least they can't be too mean to you! My friend did her part 2 OSCE at 38/40 and swears she only passed out of sympathy! I agree re coming back at ST2 - definitely less pressure. I did 'too long' at ST2 technically as a consequence of changeover times, mat leave and going LTFT, but felt much better prepared because of it. I should be going back to a new Trust but have begged to go back where I am so I don't have to deal with a totally new LW etc and also the fear of not having operated for 7-8 months! Anyway good luck with it. If nothing else it gives you ammunition to go back to your unit/College Tutor and say 'right I need more time on LW/in theatre etc'.

(Apologies to rest of you for dull jargon-filled work chitchat)

VinegarDrinker Thu 27-Jun-13 14:26:11

You've reminded me I have a T01 in my bag I need to post to my College Tutor so I can get my 2 T02s in before ARCP in Jan...

Thinkingof4 Thu 27-Jun-13 14:39:53

cheese I'm drinking the clipper organic stuff- got it on amazon (6 boxes for less than £10!) and having 3 cups a day but no sure it actualy does anything! I quite like it, can be drunk cold (when I forget I've made it) and is a change from normal decaff tea. I think if you buy loose leaf tea it's maybe stronger but that just sounds like a faff to me!

dinkystinky Thu 27-Jun-13 15:05:06

Just had a lovely 3 hour nap! I never normally sleep during the day so felt v decadent. Time for a late lunch and some Wimbledon now I think. Did have plans for an art gallery and movie today - will just have to implement them tomorrow instead.

Evelyn - glad the end is in sight with the building work. Our painter guy should be finished tomorrow - quite looking forward to getting the house back to myself. Photographer - congrats on passing, great stuff! Thinking - hope your evening isn't too tiring.

Cheese - am drinking the Napier's loose least tea from Amazon. Smells and looks like pond water. Bet the tea bags are nicer!

tryitonforsize Thu 27-Jun-13 16:08:53

Hi - have been looking for the July group for weeks - clearly no idea what I am doing! Can I join? Due date on the 4th of July - so a week today exactly.

dinkystinky Thu 27-Jun-13 16:14:34

Welcome Tryitonforsize - hope all is going well with your pregnancy. Copy and pate the due date and arrivals list and add yourself in.

dinkystinky Thu 27-Jun-13 16:16:50

Twinklestars is being induced today (she posted on FB). Looks like the babies are arriving thick and fast now!

evelynj Thu 27-Jun-13 16:36:36

Photographer-congrats! That's amazing-best feeling in the world, until you get a little baby, what an achievement!

MightBeMad Thu 27-Jun-13 16:37:01

Good luck to twinklestars.

Welcome tryitonfirsize.

Why on earth do I feel so upset and anxious today?! My brain has gone into total doom mode and I'm panicking about everything. Even went and got baby's heartbeat checked at the birth centre but that didn't have the calming effect I was hoping for because having found the hb the midwife instructed me to go home and monitor movements and arrange to get more monitoring tomorrow if I'm still worried because the overalls tern is more important than heading the hb... I know that's true but I just wanted sine one to say 'baby sounds fine, no need to worry'. sad

MightBeMad Thu 27-Jun-13 16:38:12

overall pattern and someone. D'oh! What's happened to my brain!

Cheeseandbread Thu 27-Jun-13 17:03:26

Welcome tryitonforsize

Thanks Dinky and thinking for raspberry leaf tea advice.

Mightbemad I think it's normal to worry at this late stage. We have all got so far and now it's just the last bit... With more of us finishing work we also have time to think about movements rather than work... I know that's the case with me anyway. By all means get it all checked I'm just saying I think it's normal to over think things...

PhieEl06 Thu 27-Jun-13 17:13:20

Hello all!! Wriggly wiggly baby today who is making my tummy look like it's been invaded with an alien!

Slouching that's fabulous haha! Fitting into a size 6/8 now would make my day! Agree with Icing on looking the size of the label! wink

Icing I hope you're feeling better now.

Shelley oh my, congratulations! I hope it worked out the way you wanted re. skin to skin after the birth. smile

Congratulations on passing your test photographer, good on you for scaring the examiner, I hope he was nice! smile

Slouching that's what these few weeks are for, lazing about on the sofa not doing anything! Enjoy the relaxation!

Cheese I've packed a change of clothes for OH, some of his most liked snacks (Haribo) & a pair of slouchy trackie bottoms incase I'm in labour for what turns into days! Need to keep him happy because otherwise he'll just annoy the hell out of me.
I'm drinking raspberry leaf tea, it's only the 30% stuff from Holland & Barrett but I quite like the taste & have 4 cups a day.

Welcome tryitonforsize!

Good luck to Twinklestars, hadn't checked on FB today!

Wow that was a long post... Off to make scones now then going to Mothercare & Kiddicare for a bedding, cot & changer shop later, seen as I had a lovely £150 gift card for Mothercare from my work colleagues. Not burning a hole in my pocket at all!
36+5

dinkystinky Thu 27-Jun-13 17:23:02

Mightbemad - babies have sleep patterns at this stage so there can be long periods when they don't move. Bean has been abit quiet today with only a few shuffles - if its still like that tomorrow will call the birth centre to be checked out in the morning (though rather hoping Bean will get a shuffle on so I don't have to as its my 10 year wedding anniversary tomorrow and I can think of better ways to spend the day!). Try your hypnobirthing fear release exercises - they are great at times like this.

Cheese - I have packed a change of outfit for dh. Always handy in case baby pees/wees on him!

Phie - you sound like you're turning into some kind of domestic goddess with all that baking youre doing!

PhieEl06 Thu 27-Jun-13 18:13:07

It's my aim dinky, I cannot cook at all! So my best friend thought it would be hilarious to buy me the Great British Bake Off's Learn to Cook which is aimed at children, I'm trying to make the most of these few weeks I have by baking tasty treats! smile

dinkystinky Thu 27-Jun-13 18:50:35

Its a great aim Phie! My DH always used to be the better cook/baker in our relationship - since having kids my skills in the kitchen have improved (cant say I love it though but can tolerate doing it).

Anyone using Mama mio stuff - they have a 2 day 30% off sale on their website. Use code SUMMER For 30% off (and free P&P).

OhGood Thu 27-Jun-13 19:04:48

Hi all - oh I am not keeping up at all, but lurking, congrats to new arrivals! Baby boy no-name-yet arrived nearly on the A40 fast and furious labour but all well here.

cheekbyjowl Thu 27-Jun-13 19:05:30

congrats photographer. not an easy task!

mightbe I got the miseries two nights ago. I guess we all must feel anxious and the hormones don't help. but chat to us if you want a rant.

phie is the book good. I too need to find my inner mary berry...as soon as my mat leave stats I might buy some scales for baking

dinkystinky Thu 27-Jun-13 19:10:09

Wow, congratulations on the safe and swift arrival of your ds Ohgood. Hope life as a family of 4 is going well x

SundaySunshine Thu 27-Jun-13 19:15:28

Congratulations shelly what a great little post, hope it all worked out logistically for you and you got the birth plan you were after.

Great news photographer on passing your test (crazy as you were for having it just now) enjoy the wonderful sense of freedom it gives you.

Good luck twinkle hope all goes well.

Well I'm about to hit my due date, the first of the group I think unless anyone has heard from cottonsocks at all, and it looks like I'm going to be late! How annoying! Went to mw today had to wait 1.5 hrs to be seen, I was so hot and bothered and generally uncomfortable (being kicked mercilessly in the bladder) that I couldn't face having a sweep done - not too sure on the benefits of them anyway?
So booked in for induction on the 10th which is my mums birthday! Good news is that I'm 3/5 palp so things deffinitely moving in the right direction, although still back to back which is bad news sad

39+6 baby boy your eviction notice has been served!

cheekbyjowl Thu 27-Jun-13 19:16:51

congrats ohgood. the a40 would've been dramatic. were you at qch? id love to hear the story of yours and shelleys births and the name when you decide it..was baby breech in the end?

dinky how will you celebrate your anniversary?

I have quiet movement days too, then I rest my laptop on my belly and unsurprisingly get told to shove off by sprog. I find I notice movements less when busy too

SundaySunshine Thu 27-Jun-13 19:18:13

Ooh cross post! Congrats ohGod we've been wondering how you got on. Great news grin

evelynj Thu 27-Jun-13 19:29:48

Congrats ohgood! all these arrivals are making me impatient!

Slouching- I don't think even my arm would fit in a size 6/8 in non pregnancy!

Mightbemad-I'm overly concerned about stillbirth, downs syndrome and rare illnesses that have gone undetected. I feel like I can't talk about it much in RL. I keep worrying that my dh hasn't worried enough & family & friends are taking it for granted that everything will be ok. Hormones are all over the shop!

I

dinkystinky Thu 27-Jun-13 19:42:38

Cheek - we're going out for dinner tomorrow night (my lovely sister offered to babysit the boys) at the Dock Kitchen, which is over towards Portobello. Probably a 20 min walk from our place. Have also got DH a tin of chocolates (as tin is what 10 year anniversaries are apparently) and a 10 year old whisky. DS2 has wrapped up a train of his to give him grin Have also lined up our nanny to babysit on Sunday night and will head out to see a movie somewhere.

Sunday - Bean isnt even engaged here so reckon I may be a good couple of weeks off labour. Hey ho. Someone has to even out all those early births on this thread.

Congratulations, OhGood!

Welcome tryitonforsize

DH is on his way back from Glasgow & baby is showing no signs of arriving before he gets back. Phew.

MrsRoss26 Thu 27-Jun-13 20:11:53

Rubbish short post, but congratulations ohgood and shelley on your arrivals! I hope the names prove easy to agree on!

Welcome tryiton smile

Today I managed to paint most of the baby's room, so feeling pretty good (my feet say otherwise). Only bits not painted are those even my dh can't reach as walls so high and we have to borrow a ladder. I hope everyone else is enjoying Wimbledon and the race to mat leave grin

Thinkingof4 Thu 27-Jun-13 20:51:17

Congratulations ohgood sounds dramatic!

tryiton welcome, is this your first baby?

totally that's great, you can uncross your legs again!

mrsross sounds like a busy day well done

dinky I'm quite envy about your weekend, sounds lovely. We have decided to treat ourselves to a takeaway on Saturday night (curry obviously!) as it's a but tricky to get babysitter- mil would do it, but she is already on-call for when I go into labour so I don't want to ask her for another favour so close to that!

Back home from school disco, ds1 was trying to dance to gangam style when I picked him up, loads of the kids knew all the moves but given that he's never seen it, he was just dancing 'freestyle' grin
39+2

dinkystinky Thu 27-Jun-13 21:10:15

Wow you've been busy MrsRoss - am impressed. I have done nothing today!

Glad dh is on his way back and no sign of baby beating him home Totally.

Dh has told me he has a deal closing on 4 July so hes hoping Bean will be late. I suspect Bean is listening to him :-)

Congratulations oh good. Glad you got to hospital.
Congratulations photographer too- big achievement at any time but especially this pg.

Sunday, it's my due date today! Humphrey is now 2 weeks and 2 days old. He has been alliwed to room in with me tonight for firdt time- vvv nervous, he has alot of trapped wind so think i could be up alot in the night- hate seeing him uncomfortable. Finally lay him on his tummy and he immediately went to sleep- the nurses will go ape when they come to do his meds...
Hello tryitforsize
Well done mrs millions on painting and phie for making scones

dinkystinky Thu 27-Jun-13 21:37:34

Princess - good luck for tonight. Gentle leg cycling and tummy massage ( always in clockwise direction) can help alleviate pain of trapped wind for babies.

MarieKL Thu 27-Jun-13 21:42:25

Shelley congratulations. Fanastic news and a lovely post. My warmest wishes to you and your family.

Ohgood wow, great news. Looking forward to hearing all the details when you have time to update us.

Photographer great news on passing your test. Can't remember who said it but I wish my DH would learn to drive as well.

Dinky your 3 hour nap sounds lush. I managed an hour nap earlier, and would have happily have stayed for longer.

I'm impressed with all the raspberry tea drinking. Unfortunately I don't like it, but may have to insist on curry for dinner tomorrow tonight.

Sorry to hear about those feeling anxious and or uncomfortable. I'm really inpatient now, and can't seem to settle on anything. My poor FIL is just as bad. He's on hospital driving duty so not drinking at the moment and I think he really fancies a beer! Will owe him a big bottle of Whiskey when our LO arrives.

Hope everyone else is well. I'm enjoying hearing about all the baking, decorating and shopping that is going on. My main achievement has been clearing out our cupboards by eating my way through everything. Will seriously be a double heffalump if I keep this up smile

MarieKL Thu 27-Jun-13 21:46:24

Princess, lovely that Humphrey is in with you. Good luck. My DS was windy too and the Midwifes showed me how to tilt the cot to an angel which I never would have dared to do on my own but it really worked and when we got home we managed something similar with blankets layered under the mattress of the Moses basket. May be worth asking about. Will be thinking off you

Thinkingof4 Thu 27-Jun-13 21:46:35

Oh meant to say thanks for popping back in Bessie I hope things are going ok for you

elliejjtiny Thu 27-Jun-13 21:50:08

I've forgotten who has said what now but congratulations ohgood and shelley on the new arrivals and well done photographer as well. Good luck princess, that will be me on Saturday and sunday night. I had a look at Ezekiel's feed chart today to see what I'm letting myself in for at night smile.

tryitonforsize Thu 27-Jun-13 22:16:38

Thinkingof4 - nope, this is my second. Already have a very exuberant 3 year old DD (is that the right acronym for a daughter...God, I really am such a novice!)... she's figured out she can move faster than me at the moment and is using it to full advantage hmm.

Is anybody else still working? I run my own company and only managed to find maternity cover from Monday... 3 days before my due date. It's killing me... I vacillate between periods of intense productivity and general weeping at the exhaustion of it all. My poor husband!

dinkystinky Thu 27-Jun-13 22:32:55

Runs and Cheek are working till right up to their due dates too Tryitonforsize so you're not alone.

Shiv posted on fb- Oliver has had another run of bad gases (after as run of good gases where they were planning to move to bpap). Keep Shiv and Oliver and family in your prayers all - I think they could do with all the love and support we can send them.

PhieEl06 Thu 27-Jun-13 23:01:49

Congratulations Ohgood!

Neither OH or myself are very gifted in the kitchen dinky, something however I am working on! Thanks for letting us know about Shiv, if you are reading, just know we're thinking of you always! My everything is crossed for Oliver! Xxxx

Cheek IMO fantastic if you have no clue at all like me, at the beginning it gives you a run down on basic ingredients & basic methods on how to do things, can be patronising but it is aimed at children, recipes look delicious though!

Scones were a success! Have munched away on 4 of them! Yummy! blush

Supershiv1 Thu 27-Jun-13 23:40:04

Thanks Dinky for the update from FB. Just sat here waiting for someone to finish with the boob pump.
Congrats to new arrivals I hope all goes well for you all.
Xxx to

MrsRoss26 Fri 28-Jun-13 05:02:59

An early morning hullo, and all my most positive thoughts for Oliver's gases coming down again today Shiv. I hope you got some rest last night thanks

SundaySunshine Fri 28-Jun-13 08:46:14

Shiv sending you love and best wishes as always, hope Oliver had a good night.

Princess hope your first night with Humphrey went well, what an achievement smile I hope you managed to get some sleep too? I can't believe he is over 2 weeks old already, time has moved so fast.

Happy Aniversary Dinky hope you have a lovely day, sounds like you have a wonderful day planed.

Hope all other new mummies are doing well with their precious new arrivals.

Waves to everyone else smile

SundaySunshine Fri 28-Jun-13 08:55:52

Ooo who's the other new arrival from yesterday?? I can't believe how many babies there are already!

dinkystinky Fri 28-Jun-13 09:18:40

Its Gingerpanther27 Sunday - was waiting for her to confirm her mn identity! Will update next time I do the list - by which time we'll hopefully have also heard from NPK and Shelley.

My lovely day will be interrupted with a visit to the birth centre for monitoring as Bean has continued to be unusually quiet so they want to check all is ok. Am sure is alright as can feel hiccups every so often but best to play it safe I guess.

SundaySunshine Fri 28-Jun-13 09:54:13

Thanks Dinky hope everything is ok with your little one and you don't have to spend too long in the clinic.

Cheeseandbread Fri 28-Jun-13 11:01:03

Dinky happy anniversary, hope you don't have to be in the clinic too long.

Princess I hope your night with Humphrey went well too.

Phie I've got the Holland and Barrat ones for now- might move on to capsules later.

Bessie Thanks for popping back to check on us all. I hope things are good with you.

Shiv still keeping little Oliver in my thoughts and prayers.

DH has the day off today so we are doing DIY together- taken on the task of scraping off old paint from the front of our cottage ready for painting... Rather a big job as it turns out... I've stopped for a tea and biscuit break biscuit

I had some period type pains last night and got a bit excited and scared at the same time...but didn't turn into anything. Last NCT session tomorrow and then hospital tour in Sunday so it would probably be good if bean stayed put for now.

37 weeks tomorrow...

SlouchingPanda Fri 28-Jun-13 11:37:35

Just back from 38 week GP appointment and all is well - sadly no BP issues nor anything else to stop me from going to my annual progress review later sad wink.

Had a trip down memory lane wasting time yesterday to check out my first few posts on the July threads. Lots of worrying about not having symptoms, wanting to have a bump and hiding in the work toilets with a doppler for hours... seems like a million years ago in my mahoosive pregnant state!

Dinky enjoy your anniversary plans. My DH has a work contract which runs until 3 days after the due date so I too am under strict instructions to hang on!

38+1

IcingTheCake Fri 28-Jun-13 13:02:08

Happy anniversary Dinky have a lovely day smile

slouching it is really strange to think of the early days! I remember standing in front of a mirror trying failing to make it look like i had a bump!! grin

Had a bit of an eventful morning, im meant to be making a cake for MIL birthday, managed to get the topper done just need to bake the cake now! But stopped for a break to have a bit of brunch and got 2/3 through and threw it all back up, I've not been so sick since the beginning of pregnancy! Then i spent a while on the toilet and found ive lost my mucus plug, probably all the being sick that did it! Sorry for TMI im just hoping this means labour is almost here - 37 weeks tomorrow and im getting very impatient!!! smile

tryitonforsize Fri 28-Jun-13 14:11:08

Icing is this your first baby? With my first I went into labour within 12 hours of losing my plug. I know it doesn't necessarily follow but definitely hopeful!

Cheeseandbread Fri 28-Jun-13 15:01:57

Slouching I just went back and looked at my first post- made me a bit weepy. We've all come so far!

Icing how exciting- sickness and loosing your mucus plug- 2 signs of possibly going into labour... Keep us updated. As my due date buddy I'm hoping this might be good news for me too! I'll probably go overdue now

IcingTheCake Fri 28-Jun-13 15:20:42

tryiton yeah it is first baby smile im losing hope of labour in the near future now, literally had nothing since this happened, all BH's stopped, no more sickness or anything hmm although my hormones are definitely raging! One minute im perfectly happy, the next ive got the right bang ump confused or close to tears, its really annoying but at least proof my body IS changing albeit not quite how I want it to right now!

cheese as due date buddies, you and Phie aren't allowed to go into labour before me, because it increases my chances of being late, thank you for being so understanding wink

Icing I hope the vomiting has stopped (or it's a sign of impending labour, if you'd prefer that wink). Really don't think I could cope with vomiting now. No wonder you're feeling hormonal.

Thinkingof4 Fri 28-Jun-13 16:06:19

icing exciting that at least something is happening! I'm so with you on the hormones! I'm ridiculous at the moment. Anything will set me off- I'm just lazing about watching programe with Sarah Beeny and it's making all emotional thinking I might have my own 4 boys soon! How mad is that!
We have decided on curry tonight so I'm looking forward to that already, we hardly ever get takeaways, I think the last indian we had was 2 years ago when I was overdue with ds! Wish I could remember exactly what I had and I would order it again as I did go into labour the next day.
Dh has handed over most of his current work so is happy for me to pop anytime now, preferably at the weekend when we don't have to worry so much about busy traffic holding us up. Took less than 20 min to get to hospital last time but that was in middle of the night. Would be a good hour at rush hour, plus dh would take up to an hour to get home. Positive thinking, I'm going into labour at night!

lancslass83 Fri 28-Jun-13 16:44:04

Was very smug that I managed to fit into my swimming costume today despite being ages since I last went, felt pretty good in the pool but absolutely shattered now, was supposed to be ironing this afternoon but just can't face it now.
Lots of braxton hicks, was convinced I was going to go massively overdue but all these early babies are making me worried it might be sooner rather than later.

VinegarDrinker Fri 28-Jun-13 16:59:58

Phew, shattered after a day volunteering as a parent helper in DS's nursery. He didn't nap either (probably because I was there) so we are both a bit strung out. And DH is working late. Beans on toast for tea I think, don't have the energy for anything else!

Come on, baby, getting fed up now!

39+3

dinkystinky Fri 28-Jun-13 17:35:12

Afternoon all. Clinic was all fine - Bean hated the monitor and literally kicked off for 20 minutes so definitely all OK. Celebrated with kung po chicken in Chinatown and seeing the new Much Ado About Nothing movie which was lovely and also felt v decadent - don't think I've been to the movies by myself since I was a student. Thanks for all the anniversary best wishes.

Icing - v exciting about imminent labour signs for you. Zip here and mW confirmed the head is really high still. Ah well, baby will come when they want to.

Thinking - enjoy your curry tonight! Definitely be telling that baby you are going into labour at night!

Lancslass - I reckon a fair number of us will go overdue to balance out all these early babies!!

Vinegar - respect again at being a parent helper at 40 weeks. No wonder you're tired. Ds2 decided to come the night I was shattered after hoicking ds1 around most of north london and had told dh I was ready for an early night, so tonight might be your night!!!

Shiv posted on FB - Oliver has taken a turn for the worse (he has a hernia and distended tummy making it hard for his lungs to expand on top of everything else). He's undergoing a highly risky transfer to Alder Hey hospital today.

dinkystinky Fri 28-Jun-13 17:43:46

Further update - Oliver is scheduled for an emergency op today. Please pray for him to come through and to give Shiv and MrShiv comfort and support at this immensely worrying time. X

Persuasion Fri 28-Jun-13 18:13:16

dinky thanks for the updates on Oliver and shiv. I hope this is just another blip, he's done so well so far. They are all in my thoughts and prayers.

icing that all sounds promising, good luck!

I'm feeling really spaced today and can't really remember who has done what. I woke up feeling sure I was going to go into labour but no objective signs. Then I've been swinging between being tearful and raging mad, feeling starving hungry, and after going shopping I felt an overwhelming urge to shut myself away in my bedroom in the dark. Which i did and now i feel a bit better. It's all very odd, I've had a few stronger Brixton hicks but not enough happening to convince me this is it but it's driving me mad!

39+2

Thinkingof4 Fri 28-Jun-13 18:15:04

Thanks for the updates dinky

shiv keeping everything crossed that Oliver can get through this next hurdle

SundaySunshine Fri 28-Jun-13 18:21:03

Dinky thanks for the Shiv update, have posted best wishes on her other thread.

Glad all is ok with your little one, and that you had a good day. I would really like to see that film too. I might try an afternoon session whilst DD is at school. Feel I owe myself some me time as it was my birthday this week but didn't get up to anything exciting at all and I'm feeling sorry for myself

Ooh could be the start of something exciting Icing?? I've been having period type pains all day and the feeling that I need a poo (tmi?) maybe I just need a poo! grin

dinkystinky Fri 28-Jun-13 18:24:16

Definitely do something nice for yourself Sunday - and happy belated birthday too! Sounds like something may be starting for you too - so exciting!!

I haven't been to the cinema in ages! Might try to take the opportunity to go next Friday whilst DD is in nursery. (I'm sure making plans will bring this baby out earlier).

MightBeMad Fri 28-Jun-13 19:49:00

Thanks for all he good wishes about my down day. I've definitely been feeling better today and baby has been moving more, which is reassuring (not sure which is cause and which effect!). Still need to pack my hospital bag but I'd've spent some quality time with dc1 today so feel better about her having to share me soon.

Icing hope it's a sign labour is imminent for you!!

Absolutely respect for those of you decorating, being parent helpers at nursery, getting out and about at this stage. I don't seem to be able to get through the day without a nap now blush

Mostly, huge huge hugs to shiv and mr shiv and all my thoughts and strong vibes to them and little Oliver for his transfer and surgery. I hope this turns out just to be another bump in the road to look back on with him in years to come xxx

Silver15 Fri 28-Jun-13 19:53:14

Happy anniversary Dinky and thanks for the updates on Oliver.

Shiv my thoughts and prayers are with you.

Sunday and Icing that sounds good.

I finished work today and got some lovely baby stuff and vouchers so tomorrow I'm off to debenhams.

I'm desperate for baby to come soon (in a week or so). Will be 36 weeks tomorrow. My first 2 were overdue so it will be nice if this one comes early. Been taking the RLT but I know it does not induce labour but makes the second stage faster though it lasted 5 minutes for both DS.

Silver15 Fri 28-Jun-13 19:56:07

Just to say that I didnot take RLT with my first 2. Only heard of it from mumsnet.

PhieEl06 Fri 28-Jun-13 20:06:00

Happy anniversary dinky, I hope you've enjoyed your day! smile

Slouching the awkward can you tell if it's pregnancy or fat days, I remember those well!

Icing that's exciting but you're not allowed to go into labour yet, neither is cheese, my due date buddies need to hang in there otherwise I will be very sad if you go before me. sad

Thinking of Shiv & family at this time, they're in my thoughts & prayers!

Happy belated birthday Sunday, I hope your day was relaxing even if you didn't get up to much!

MightBe I would love to be having a nap but I feel like I have so much to do I cannot justify sleeping.

Silver congrats on finishing work, it's the best feeling!

Sorry if I've missed any other personals, it's just taken me over an hour to write this post as was getting distracted in between!

Midwife appointment today, still measuring on the large side for dates but head at 2/5 from 4/5 which according to my notes is engaged below brim of pelvis. I didn't understand this at first as would of thought 5/5 would mean deeply engaged but it's opposite as measured in how free head is... You learn something new everyday!

I hope everyone else lurking & posting is well! smile

I'm callums mum smile (even though it's still not sunk in yet [shocked]

evelynj Fri 28-Jun-13 20:44:16

Congrats gingerpanther!

Cinema sounds like a good idea if I can farm DS out one day next week.

Shivs & Oliver-sending lots of good wishes & positive vibes for improvement soon.

Dinky-happy anniversary!

I'm also finding it hard to keep up & remember who's doing what. 2 weeks Monday til my elcs (previous cs & breech baby) & feeling really weird tonight, want baby out but will be panicked if labour starts!

So glad it's the weekend-crap tv & a diet coke for me now, won't help the heartburn mind.

Also just started to get really itchy all over & pelvis is clicking in & out. Woe is me!

Hope everyone else has a good night smile

Cheeseandbread Fri 28-Jun-13 20:49:41

Oooooooh Phie you've taught me something. I just looked at my notes and last Monday was 3/5 so maybe less by now...?

Dinky sounds like you've had a good day! Thanks for the update on Oliver- I am keeping him in my thoughts and prayers.

Cheeseandbread Fri 28-Jun-13 21:04:18

Congratulations Gingerpanther flowers

MightBeMad Fri 28-Jun-13 21:12:55

Congratulations gingerpanther!!!

Sympathies to all those feeling uncomfy and impatient. Late pg is not a fun place to be is it?!

I think baby has now gone back to my left side (whoop!), though not sure if he's a bit back-to-back. He's feeling really low too - I can no longer sit with my legs together - there's a head in the way (and it's owner objects fiercely!!). grin

photographerlady Fri 28-Jun-13 21:40:32

Congrats to all the early babies. Feel free to post a birth story I'd love to hear them smile

PhieEl06 Fri 28-Jun-13 21:51:37

With photographer on birth stories... I would love to hear them!

Silver15 Fri 28-Jun-13 21:57:32

Thanks Phie, I can now attend to my house properly, pack my bags and get ready for baby.

Congrats Gingerpanther.

cheekbyjowl Fri 28-Jun-13 22:11:13

Happy anniversary dinky hope youre enjoying your evening out..10 years is a big milestone

shiv I've sent prayers up to the big man for oliver. your family are in mine and dhs prayers often.

mightbe oh goodness not being able to cross your legs? is that how it feels? I'm not looking forward to that. shock I'm very glad to read youre not feeling as anxious anymore though

Congratulations ginger on the birth of your son! another.impatient boy.

sunday it's forecast to be very bright and sunny on sunday...25 degrees ish..can we do a sweepstakes

I made a start on my hospital bag tonight. can I ask if anyone is taking a gro bag with them? if not will the midwife show me how to do the hospital sheets so the baby doesn't get.too warm. I have no idea what to do

VinegarDrinker Sat 29-Jun-13 03:35:15

Awake as usual and too nauseous to lie down and try and sleep. (Not a 'sign' sadly as it's like this every night!). Also very sore hips/back from all the toddler hoiking today. Moan moan moan!

Any other insomniacs today?

39+4 now, nearly a week past when DS was born. Can't believe I'm still pregnant and could potentially have another 2 weeks left...

McKTastic Sat 29-Jun-13 03:37:30

Me next grin Baby Murray arrived 7 mins past midnight. VBAC in hospital pool. Early boy - just like his sister! Was due 22/7; HB kit had been delivered this week - due to be checked in morn & MWs on call from Mon (I guess my babies like hospitalshmm) Will post again soon. Thinking of Shiv & family x

VinegarDrinker Sat 29-Jun-13 03:40:39

Oh wow, congratulations!

McKTastic Sat 29-Jun-13 03:43:30

Thank you grin Hope you get some sleep soon - it's horrible not being able to rest x

IcingTheCake Sat 29-Jun-13 03:51:35

thinking fx you go into labour at night! I know what you mean though we're not far from the hospital but its just off the m25! So hit and miss with traffic!

lancslass a maternity or non maternity swimsuit? Either way i dont think you'd catch me in either at this stage, just toooo much hassle to get in and out of! blush

vinegar good for you volunteering! Dont know where you got the energy for that! smile

persuasion not too much longer though, even if you go over, max 3 weeks left for you smile

sunday hope you had a nice birthday and definitely do something to treat yourself! How's your period type pains now?

silver you never know you could be early with this one, just because the first two were late, this one might buck the trend smile

phie i think i can't do that im afraid, you and cheese can fight to go after me wink

evelyn ah at least you have a date to look forward too! smile

mightbe oh that sounds strange, at least you know for sure the head is engaged!! smile

cheek im not taking a grobag but then again we don't have any so thats the only reason why! smile

Thank you to everyone for the well wishes, we went for a nice walk to PIL's last night (half hour each way) because i suddenly had energy to do it, didnt get even a little out of breath so hoping that means baby has moved down. Woke up about 3:00 with quite regular/painful contractions, but they've died down a bit down, but body wont let me sleep for some reason i just feel wide awake. Been nesting all day as well, i didnt really think I'd done much at all, so didnt think i was nesting web when OH said i must be, then i came home and realised how spotless the house was - maybe i am!

37 weeks today - hopefully coming to an end! grin

IcingTheCake Sat 29-Jun-13 03:52:50

McKTastic congratulations!! How exciting smile enjoy your newborn snuggles!

Silver15 Sat 29-Jun-13 04:44:05

Congrats Mktastic

Vinegar im the club as well. Been Awake for almost 2 hours now.

Icing your symptoms really sound positive. I bet it will be soon.

MightBeMad Sat 29-Jun-13 05:07:22

Congratulations mckt!!!!

I'm awake eating blush grin

Cheek not taking a grobag to hospital, though we will progress to using them at home. My reasons are that it's easier to change hospital sheet/blanket if they get sick/poo/peed on, baby has to be a certain wight/size for bag to be safely used (so their head can't slip down below the neckline) and I won't know if they will be born big enough so it's easier to wait and see and normal 2.5 tog bags are supposed to be used in rooms 16-20 degrees and hospital delivery units/postnatal wards are often c. 22 deg, so it's easier to adjust baby's temp with layers than a bag. Mws will definitely guide ou on baby clothes/ayers if you ask - don't worry!! Also, you'll suss it all out very quickly. One thing I found v useful in the early days with dc1 was a little room thermometer and the guide in the NHS booklets (i think) though grobag do one too iirc, of layers at each temp like this or this smile

Cheeseandbread Sat 29-Jun-13 05:29:09

Congratulations Mktastic flowers

Re grow bags I've bought one from ikea but am not going to take it with me to the hospital. Mightbe I like your plan of being guided by the midwives and tfsnks for the links.

The last couple of evenings bean has been quite restless with big kicks in my ribs and pains down below (head moving down...?) has anyone else been noticing movements/feelings like this?

Icing it all sounds promising for you... Send some vibes this way. I really want to meet bean now!

37 weeks today

SlouchingPanda Sat 29-Jun-13 05:49:47

Morning all, and congratulations to NPK, McKTastic and Ginger. I am joining the wide awake club as desperately uncomfortable after a bad case of 'eyes bigger than belly' syndrome and let's face it, the belly is pretty big at a friend's for dinner last night. Still, got a load of washing on and started to bake some bread, so time well spent.

Icing hope that your niggles either settle down or get going good and proper. Stop-start early labour stuff must be so annoying! <impatient>

I had my work progress review and all was much better than expected, so I'm glad I went after all. In fact they were super-nice and I was told in no uncertain terms to forget all about work now and concentrate first on relaxing and then being a mother grin.

Today's task is finally packing the hospital bag and trying to whittle down the name longlists. Currently stand at 32 for a boy and 44 for a girl. I may be some time wink...

38+2

Persuasion Sat 29-Jun-13 05:53:44

Congratulations Ginger OhGood and McKTastic!

I'm joining the awake club. Have been up 5 times to pee so far, had 4 contractions in half an hour and now they've all stopped but it's woken me up. I've moved to the spare room and the cat can't believe his luck, I'm being cuddled to death!

Re growbags I have a 1tog and a 2.5tog but wasn't going to take them to hospital, I assume the midwives will help with sheets etc to begin with.

Right. Off to listen to natal hypnotherapy in the hope of falling back asleep...

Thinkingof4 Sat 29-Jun-13 05:56:35

Congratulations mcktastic another one determined to be early! Your water birth sounds lovely!

Another one in the 4am club here, been trying to get back to sleep for hours but dh's snoring has driven me out of bed. Looks like a nice day ahead so will try to go for a walk with dh and the boys. Curry doesn't appear to have done anything but was bloody tasty so I'm not complaining! May have to get another one next weekend if still no baby. Like vinegar I'm now 39+4 and the idea of being pregnant for potentially another 2 weeks would make me weep! I'm starting on pineapple next week!!

dinkystinky Sat 29-Jun-13 06:43:28

Morning all and huge congrats Mctastic! Sounds like a lovely birth and hope all well with you and your little boy. Let me know his weight and will pop it on the outies list!

Vinegar, Thinking and the rest of the wide awake club - hope you managed to get some sleep in.

Slouching - glad your review went well and you can now relax! Am amazed you have so many names you both like on your list - we are still struggling to agree on names here.

Cheek - as with the others, am not taking a group bag to hospital. I tend to swaddle for the first couple of months any way which is super easy to do with a hospital sheet/blanket.

Congratulations McKTastic!

I'm another one for the 4am club. Woke at 3:30 crying, but no idea why - just knew I felt incredibly sad. confused. Can't remember any dream I might have been having. Couldn't get back to sleep until just before DD ran in at 5 to tell us "it's still night time, I'm awake". Don't think the gro clock is working!

Enjoy your fresh baked bread, Slouching. I bet the Panda house smells divine this morning.

IcingTheCake Sat 29-Jun-13 07:26:01

All you 4am-ers (or earlier shock) hope you get some rest today! I've been up since 3, had a while when i genuinely though this is it and then it all stopped sad so got up decorated MIL's birthday cake, did some washing, sorted out some cupboard space and now im going to go back to bed, as my OH has just got up to get ready for work grin

Hope today brings relaxation and labour vibes to those who need it! smile

37 weeks - finally full term gringringrin

VinegarDrinker Sat 29-Jun-13 09:41:37

Totally re the gro-clock, we have a rule that he has to play in his room until the sun comes up. We remind him of that via the 2-way monitor if he's calling out to us. He has some quiet-ish toys and books in his room. Seems to work quite well (we've had it about 3 months). Luckily he can't open his door yet...

Thinkingof4 Sat 29-Jun-13 10:09:26

Went back to bed at 7 when boys got up. May have been slightly short to dh re his snoring (which didn't wake me up but didn't help me get back to sleep iyswim. Anyway got back up at 9.30ish to discover he has cleaned kitchen, bathrooms, and is now hoovering upstairs...I think I'll have to be extra nice to him for rest of today.
Anyway still time for a walk before lunch so I'll jump in shower now. Decided to have healthy breakfast to make up for last nights curry so just polished off small tub of fresh pineapple, a smoothie, some strawberries and Greek yog plus a croissant warm with jam and a cup of tea. My good intentions failed a bit towards the end!!
Enjoy your day everyone, for those down south don't forget your suncream!

PhieEl06 Sat 29-Jun-13 10:14:27

Silver hehe it all begins properly now!

Cheek I plan on using gro bags but not taking into hospital as hopefully planning on learning how to use sheets & blankets properly from the midwives!

Vinegar sending belated sympathies for your insomniac night, fortunately I actually slept all night through last night.

McKTastic congratulations!! smile

Hehe Icing I'm very jealous of your labour twinges, NOTHING is happening for me... At this rate I will be having an August baby!

Thanks for the links MightBe, very interesting reading as very worried about baby temp!

Slouching jealous of the bread baking, I bet that smelt delicious! Glad your review went well but thinking at 38+2 your brave not having hospital bags packed yet! or is that just my major OCD?

Persuasion the cat cuddling sounds super cute! Hope you managed to get back to sleep.

Thinking I'm only 37 weeks the thought of potentially being pregnant for another 5 weeks makes me want to bang my head against a wall!

Looking forward to the warm weather today! & like icing YAY 37 weeks!! Finally full term!

SundaySunshine Sat 29-Jun-13 10:15:59

Wow loads to catch up on!

Congrats to Ginger and McKT enjoy your new baby snuggles I'm not jealous at all

Slouching glad your review went well, now you can relax and focus on being a mum very soon grin

cheek I agree with others, you probably don't need the grow bag in the hospital . But don't be affraid to ask for help with the sheets etc. with DD I was completely clueless, I had no idea how to dress her or change her nappy or when, or how many times she needed to be fed. It was a very sharp learning curve, but by the next morning I was an expert smile

icing congrat on reaching term, feels good doesn't it, now the waiting begins! Hopefully not too long for you though as looks like you're getting some positive signs? What hospital are you going to? I'm going to DVH just off M25, but I have to get over the Darford Bridge which is always a nightmare for jams, fingers crossed for a night time labour here too!

Hope everyone else is ok, my brain can't retain any more info, so sorry if I've missed anyone out!

photographerlady Sat 29-Jun-13 11:19:42

So please send me no labour vibes this weekend. Talked the DH into flying to Iceland for work tomorrow. He will be back around 2am on Tuesday so super quick trip but with my luck I am hoping just for two days to not go into labour :p

growbags topic I plan on taking a blankie and also a summertime swaddleme blanket to hospital.

Congrats to Ginger and McKT

Slouching congrats on review

icing yay term ;)

Hi, I've been lurking on this thread - I'm due on 30 July with DC3 (a little boy), with an older DS and DD. Pregnancy hasn't been too much fun with hyperemesis all the way, and a marriage break up. BUT I have no aches and pains at all (touch wood) so am hoping the remaining weeks are pretty much ok.

Congratulations to everyone who has already had an arrival, and hope that no-one goes too much past their due date. I'm 35 + 4, so just a week and 3 days til full term. I had a bump cast yesterday - was quite an experience!

Welcome, wavesandsmiles!

photographer I'll be sending all my anti-labour vibes your way until Tuesday. grin

MightBeMad Sat 29-Jun-13 12:33:01

Welcome waves, sorry to hear you've had a tough time. I hope the rest of your pg goes smoothly.

Photographer, you'll be fine. No labour vibes coming your way until weds at the earliest! smile

Had my whooping cough jab this morning. Now have an achy arm but hopefully that will fade. I guess that means I'm now hoping to hold out for another two weeks So it has time to take effect.

IcingTheCake Sat 29-Jun-13 13:11:45

waves welcome! Sorry youve had a tough time sad yay for no aches as of yet though!

photographer ill take those labour vibes from you wink

Thank you for all the positivity with my on/off signs, its so annoying not knowing if anything will actually happen yet! Trying to keep busy so i dont think about it but its not as easy as it seems!

Sorry not much name checking am on my phone and have a terrible memory! Hope everyone is okay!! smile

SlouchingPanda Sat 29-Jun-13 13:20:35

Welcome Waves !

Phie I'm certainly foolish rather than brave on the unpacked bag front... just more of a last minute kind of gal. Also lazy so kept putting off washing the baby clothes, but did that the other day, and DH's face was a picture of excitement imagining that soon there would be a baby to fill them.

Might my arm was sore and I felt pretty rotten the day after - definitely plan an easy day.

evelynj Sat 29-Jun-13 13:37:39

Congrats mckt, sounds really great!

Slouching-what a welcome relief! My friend keeps moaning about missing being pregnant as everyone is so much nicer to you when you're pregnant!

I don't know how I'm going to get through the next 2 weeks-have no energy. Need to make a list of things to do, house is a mess & the garden is a whole other story-all our older neighbours have beautiful gardens & I feel quite ashamed how long the grass/weeds are!

Can't believe icing went for that walk-half an hour? I can barely make it to the car 30 seconds out the door without getting breathless!

Just read shiv's whole other thread about baby Oliver-heartbreaking stuff what they're going through & crossing evrerything for them.

Off to read and hopefully sleep for an hour!

IcingTheCake Sat 29-Jun-13 14:12:53

Sorry sunday didnt answer, im at SPH, its in Chertsey smile

evelyn if somebody told me I'd walk an hour round trip last week is have laughed in their face, just a random burst of energy the past few days! smile

MightBeMad Sat 29-Jun-13 15:31:29

Ah, so the three lots of visitors booked in for tomorrow (one lot for breakfast, one for lunch and one for dinner) may not be the best idea then slouching...

MarieKL Sat 29-Jun-13 15:43:16

Wow, two more arrivals. Congrats to Ginger and MckTasic

Shiv you, Oliver and your family are in my prayers and especially so for the op and transfer.

I hope everyone in the early club has a chance to catch up on some sleep later today. Sounds like there was a lot going on.

Icing Sounds exciting. I hope something more obvious starts for you soon. Will make sure I send any pg vibes to you rather than Photographer!

Slouching sounds like a great review. I hope your relaxing objective for the next week days/ weeks is achieved to the highest standard smile

Dinky I'm glad everything is okay and you still enjoyed your day.

Evelyn I know exactly what you mean about having no energy. My legs feel like lead and I have to stop to catch my breath at the top of the stairs.

Sorry for not responding to everyone else but just realised I need to go back to the shops as I forgot the mushrooms for dinner tonight! Now just need to find the energy to get off the sofa!

dinkystinky Sat 29-Jun-13 15:48:14

Welcome Waves. Hope the last few weeks of your pregnancy are uneventful.

Photographer - cross your legs till Tuesday!

Had a day full of the ds's school fair - kids now splashing in padling pool in garden with their friend. So nice the sun is finally out!

shelley72 Sat 29-Jun-13 16:05:10

Hello been without web access since I was moved on Thursday morning. Thank you for all the good wishes!

Yes someone was obviously a bit impatient to arrive and was fed up with all the dithering over dates for an elective! Waters broke at 10 on weds evening despite having no twinges before hand. More went on arrival to labour ward and less than an hour later I was contracting well and 4 cm. So had an emcs sooner rather than later and she arrived hour after that smile. all the worry over low fluid and complications was for nothing as she was fine, not huge at 5lb13 but very strong. Had skin to skin and fed in recovery, I tried to feed in theatre but was bit too shaky so had to settle for a cuddle instead. And we've not stopped since really.

spent most of Thursday in shock and was a bit poorly myself but feeling better every day though obviously sore. The children are besotted with their new baby, though don't like it when she cries. Still no name as yet, as was convinced she was a boy!

Well done to the other new arrivals and have my fingers crossed for little Oliver. Thinking of you.

Sorry for errors typing one handed !

dinkystinky Sat 29-Jun-13 16:31:22

Ah Shelley it sounds like all went smoothly in the end and am so pleased that you got skin to skin and got to feed too. Hope you are recovering well from the birth. She sounds a lovely size too - glad all those worries were unfounded.

Looks like BigBelly is next one up - she posted on Fb that she's being induced this afternoon. Wonder if her induction will be even quicker than Twinkles 25 minute one!

scoutfinch1 Sat 29-Jun-13 17:57:23

Hi, I've just found this thread but better late than never. I'm due on 23rd July so 36 +4 with DC1 (little girl.) I've been very lucky and had a lovely pregnancy so far so hope that continues until the end. Been having a few little cramps and starting to get a bit uncomfortable but crossing my fingers that she stays put until Tuesday (37 week mark) I'm bouncing on my new yoga ball trying to shift baby as midwife says she is slightly back to back.

Congratulations to everyone who has had their babies already! So exciting, I can't believe that will be me soon.

scoutfinch1 Sat 29-Jun-13 18:01:51

Might like slouching panda said I felt pretty rotten for a couple of days after my WC jab too. If you have got visitors you'll be fine, just get them to fuss after you!

dinkystinky Sat 29-Jun-13 18:20:52

Welcome Scoutfinch - please can both you and Waves add yourselves into the due dates list up thread.Bouncing on yoga ball will help move baby down, optimal foetal position and always sitting with hips higher than knees are helpful in shifting a back to back baby to a better position too.

Adding myself and scoutfinch to the list:

Thanks dinky that's a good tip. Thanks for adding me too waves

MrsMillions Sat 29-Jun-13 19:18:03

I'm sat on the sofa watching tennis with a snoring DH stretched out alongside me. He's had a busy day cleaning the cars and then the house (he's nesting more than me!) so will leave him be for a bit.

I did have a very satisfactory sort-out of my wrapping paper/tags/ribbons collection though, and tidied the cupboard under the stairs. Am amazed we managed to find even more rubbish to take to the tip, have probably been there more in the last 5/6 months than the previous 5 years!

Congrats on more arrivals and welcome newbies, the more the merrier.

Shelley sounds like all worked out well in the end, glad feeding has got off to a good start.

Keeping my fingers crossed for Team Shiv.

Sorry for no more name checks, you've all been too busy and I've lost track of who said what. smile

Welcome, scoutfinch.

I think DH & I have finally settled on names we're both agreed on. I thought we'd already decided, but apparently not, so there's been another lengthy discussion this afternoon. We've shaken hands on the names, so hopefully these'll stick. We have completely opposite tastes in names, particularly for boys.

We took DD on the little ferry boat to the town over the water from our little village to go the big park this afternoon. Had a great time.

All in all fairly productive for a lazy day, so it's probably time to relax & read the paper grin.

dinkystinky Sat 29-Jun-13 19:41:13

Ah, that sounds like a lovely trip Totally - what a lovely day to do it on too. Glad you have a name sorted - we're still nowhere near any form of resolution on that front!

Am all of a sudden feeling super sad that this is definitely my last pregnancy - I've loved feeling Bean grow and move inside of me. Am sure its just crazy hormones talking and in another 2 weeks when I'm very overdue and melting I'll be delighted its my last pregnancy though...

photographerlady Sat 29-Jun-13 21:26:37

So today was an ordeal smile

After having not much movement we went into labour ward to be monitored. DZh talked me into it as well he leaves tomorrow and its better to be safe than sorry. So labour ward was fully packed. Community midwives from our of town were in to look after over worried first timers like me. And of course as soon as they hooked me up to the heart monitor LO started jumping around like mad. Felt a bit embarrassed. We stayed two hours being monitored and seeing the doctor who explained we did the right thing. Lots of stops by the midwives to see how we were. Everyone was lovely and had a bit of a giggle about the business of babies at the moment.

LO is fine and tumbling about again, she must of just had a lazy couple of days. She's 3/5 engaged which is nice (but bloody painful when they look for the head) so hopefully she will just relax til Wednesday.

Shelly glad things went well in the end, maybe see you at abany group sometime smile

Congratulations and well done to all the other new mummies. How exciting for everyone else who is still waiting for their turn!

Posy is now a week old and I am so in love with her - I can hardly believe she's mine. We are snuggled up together as I write this post.

Here's my birth story for anyone who's interested.

I was booked in for an induction last Saturday at 37+6 due mainly to my having developed gestational disbetes. We went in for 8am and they were able to break my waters at around 9am, after quite a painful internal. I'd hoped to use a pool but as we were on the consultant-led unit, there was only one room with a pool and it was already in use. I was told that I wouldn't be able to eat or drink, other than water, until after delivery.

I was pretty confident that my contractions would kick in soon after as I was already 2-3cm and had been having on/off contractions for a few days but after a couple of hours, nothing was happening so I agreed to go onto a Syntocinon drip. This was a bit crap as it meant that I also had to be continuously monitored. The drip started at 3 and went up every half an hour to 6, 12, 24, 36 and I was up to 48 before I knew it. The highest they go is 60. The aim is that you're contracting about 4 in every 10 mins but they were pretty intense by then and I was using gas and air (which was great - really good for focussing you too). I was struggling at this point and had really hoped to avoid an epidural but as I already had a cannula in my hand and was pretty much stuck on my back on the bed, thought that I might as well. My blood pressure dropped significantly then so I was also given iv fluids and kept on a blood pressure cuff. The midwife suggested a catheter too but I felt like that would be a step too far and refused, so had to use a bed pan.

The epidural was administered and I was able to top it up myself every half hour. Things slowed down a bit then and it was several more hours before I was re-examined and the midwife told me that I was 10cm. She said she'd give me an hour for the baby's head to move down and for me to get the urge to push. The urge never came so she began to direct me in pushing and 4 mins and 3 pushes later, Posy was born.

We had skin to skin right away and cuddled while the midwife stitched an inch long tear and helped deliver the placenta. A couple of hours later, I had a lovely shower and DH (on a lie-back chair) and I spent the night in the same room I delivered in and we were able to go home in the morning.

evelynj Sun 30-Jun-13 00:12:15

Well done different, that's lovely, so pleased for you.

Photographer-glad all's good, always better safe than sorry.

Totally-that sounds lovely. We have loads of house stuff to do but need to do something fun with our 3 yo DS tomorrow as won't be able to do anything much for ages after birth.

Right, off for my last wee before getting in position for the night. G'night all!

MightBeMad Sun 30-Jun-13 03:12:00

Argh! So uncomfortable! I just want to sleep! sad

IcingTheCake Sun 30-Jun-13 05:12:06

Shelley thats really lovely, hope baby girl no name has a name soon smile

scout welcome grin

different lovely birth story thank you for sharing smile

Sorry for no more name checks, its the time of day! Haha

Apart from being a little sick last night i haven't had any more labour signs sad tried all of the methods of bringing on labour too, think i might have scared labour off! Going to have pineapple and RLT for breakfast, but have read that you need to eat 6 pineapples for it to really work?! I dont think so!! shock thank you all for the labour vibes but starting to doubt itll be anytime soon sad even though i struggle to see how ill manage another potential 5 weeks!

Hoping the thread is quiet this morning because you're all enjoying lovely uninterrupted nights! smile

Trying to avoid resorting to internetting on my phone during the night as I think it makes getting back to sleep even less likely. Awake since 2:30!!! Was just drifting off again around 5 when DD came in saying she was wet & awake & refused to resettle. DH eventually have up & got up with her at 5:45 & I've been festering in bed.

I wish there was something productive I could do in the middle of the night that wouldn't disturb everyone else. I can't read in bed or use the kitchen or do any organising. I could go to the lounge & read/watch tv I suppose.

Today I am going to pack my hospital bag. No more procrastination.

VinegarDrinker Sun 30-Jun-13 08:04:12

Morning folks. Lovely positive induction story different grin

I slept through the night for the first time in weeks, so full of energy this morning and hoping this baby is going to get a move on, now. It's weird because we haven't made any plans for this weekend/week as we assumed we'd have a newborn by now! Anyway I've told her that today would be super-convenient for childcare for her big brother, what with it being the weekend... Not sure she's listening though hmm

SlouchingPanda Sun 30-Jun-13 08:10:50

MightBeMad how is your arm today? Perhaps you are made of sterner stuff than me, I just felt a bit feverish and off colour the day after. Hope you have a lovely day with your visitors though.

Totally - I am definitely going to pack my bag today as well. I managed to procrastinate yesterday by spending my time making rhubarb and strawberry jam, lasagne, bread, and a lovely octopus salad, but I don't think any of these things would be any use to me if I went into labour wink so today is bag day. Not that there are any signs that JuniorPanda is in a hurry mind you...

Managed to sleep until 0630 today after such an exhausting day cooking yesterday (!) and looking forward to a scorcher - got my suncream on standby and my chair in the garden all set up. But first - the bag!

CitizenOscar Sun 30-Jun-13 08:13:01

Waaaah! DS1 has chicken pox. Not the best timing but he seems happy even though getting spottier all the time. I've had it, so MWs confirmed nothing to worry about, but means we're stuck at home sad

At least it gives me something to think about other than waiting for baby! And we can play in the garden as it's sunny smile

Lovely hearing birth stories although making me quite envious (not of the specifics but of you meeting your babies)!

Sorry for lack of personals - on phone.

dinkystinky Sun 30-Jun-13 08:47:39

Lovely birth story Differentnow - thanks for sharing.

Vinegar - glad you finally got a good nights sleep - bet you feel like a whole different woman. We didnt have any plans for today but as its going to be a nice day we're going to pootle off to the Serpentine Lido today and maybe hit a playground or two on the way back.

Slouching - your cookingfest sounds lovely!

Citizen - oh no, poor DS1. Glad he's feeling ok. We found coolish oatmeal baths great for DS1 when he had the dreaded pox - virasoothe also good for popping on super itchy spots.

Grannyapple Sun 30-Jun-13 08:47:48

totally & slouching I'm with you on the bag packing today too! I had it packed for over 3 wks by this stage last time! One more week of work left (woo hoo!) & hopefully horrid cough/chest infection is beginning to shift, so hoping to at least be a bit more more productive than I have been the past week (poor DH has had the brunt of chores & dealing with DS this past week).

Gorgeous day so might be lots of time in the garden today with DS me thinks!

Congrats to all the new arrivals! But just hit me today that tomorrow is 1st July.....scary!!

VinegarDrinker Sun 30-Jun-13 08:55:47

Yep looks like a gorgeous day, doesn't it dinky - we're going to cycle up to Highgate Woods I think and catch up with my sis and her BF.

Had a lovely chilled park picnic yesterday for DS's godmother's 30th, was great as there were only a couple of kids there and lots of adults with energy and enthusiasm to run round after them while I sat in the shade drinking champers grin We did cycle there (only a mile or two!) so I felt that justified doing nothing else all afternoon.

Andrea75 Sun 30-Jun-13 09:29:47

Also a newbie, have been lurking a bit now and then - due July 18th with no.3. Have dd (nearly 6) and ds (4 in Oct) and am just getting round to posting something. Has been encouraging reading esp when pregnancy niggles have got me down. Have had a bad back but it has got better as I've been getting heavier (strange!!).
Now I am confined at home with ds who had adenoidectomy and grommets fitted on Thursday so it's 10 days with no contact with people (except family of course!!!).
Expect I'll have a bit more time to keep up with the thread from now (till baby makes his/her appearance).
Midwife convinced it is a boy due to heartrate...we didn't fine out at 20 week scan but has anyone else had experience of heartbeat being a sign of boy/girl?!

MarieKL Sun 30-Jun-13 10:47:00

Hi to the Newbies.

Shelley so glad everything went well for you. Looking forward to hearing which name you choose. Like Dinky we still haven't decided. Should really get a move on though as I'm due tomorrow and have a sweep booked for tomorrow afternoon! For those who had sweeps in previous pg's would you mind sharing whether they worked and if so how long after?

Good luck to all those packing their bags. I have everything I need in a pile but can't seem to find an appropriate bag to put it in. At this rate I'm going to turn up on the labour ward with numerous carrier bags!

Citizen sorry to hear about the chickenpox. DS had it a few months back and we found a mousse from boots really helped and was easy to apply but no idea what it was called.

Different thank you for your birthing story. It's lovely to hear. Would love to hear everyone else's too.

I'm very envious of everyone in the South. It's overcast and breezy up here on the north coast of England, though I'm finding it quite pleasant. Not sure how I'll cope with the heat next week.

Dinky like you this is my last pregnancy and I'm treasuring these last few days or weeks of feeling our LO moving around but I'm too inpatient to feel sad. Absolutely no signs that labour will happen anytime soon though so looks like I'm going to go overdue.

Hope everyone else is having a good day.

dinkystinky Sun 30-Jun-13 11:10:54

Welcome Andrea - pop yourself on the due date list when you have a moment. Vinegar - cycling up to Highgate Woods has to set your labour off - respect again!

Big belly4 posted on fb - she had a dd this morning around 7ish. Will update the outies list when on a pc again. Currently sunning myself at the lido while DH does paddling pool duty...

How do I find the facebook page for July and join? smile

esme80 Sun 30-Jun-13 11:26:40

Hi everyone! Welcome everyone new!

Actually Andrea the whole heartrate thing has been true for mine. DS heartrate last pregnancy was under 140, and this one, a girl, is over. Obviously very scientific!

Fed up with pregnancy now. Had spicy noodles last night. Cant bring myself to eat a large amount of pineapple though, dont really like it. How much are you supposed to eat? Trying to get myself in the mood to dtd tonight, worked within 6 hours w ds.

Also have question re sweeps. My midwife offered me one either on thursday, day after Im due, or next thursday. She said they were recommended from 41 weeks really as had more effect then but if I want one earlier I can. Anyone have any experiences?

Andrea75 Sun 30-Jun-13 11:36:39

esme80 thanks - it's been 130 and 125 at 34 and 36 week check, so may well be a boy. Either that or a very chilled out girl wink

Welcome, Andrea.

Slouching, your cooking fest sounds amazing.

No progress on the bag packing yet. I'll do it in a minute. After I've MNted a bit.

photographerlady Sun 30-Jun-13 12:38:34

Andrea if you like to joking the Facebook group just PM me on here and I can temp add you to friends and invite you. It's filling up nicely with lots of baby photos smile

Thinkingof4 Sun 30-Jun-13 13:07:50

Hi all
Thanks for sharing your birth stories Shelley and different lovely to hear!
Welcome to the newbies!!
And and congratulations to bigbelly!

Not doing any more personals as on phone
Re sweeps I've had loads over my first 3 pregnancies, didn't work with first two but did with third. With ds3 there was a student mw who did the sweep first, then the qualified mw did a proper one! So 2 in close succession but I lost my plug later that day and went into labour with about 48 hours of that. After sweeps I also ate curry and pineapple as well as dtd! I was doing some visualisation stuff in bed and my waters went so something amongst all that seemed to do the trick!
The sweeps themselves were varied in discomfort, I just did some deep breathing and it was fine really. But I think if it doesn't hurt it ain't gonna work!

A bit cloudy here today but we've been to park and then wee walk at the beach and ice-cream may have been consumed by all!! Really nice way to spend the morning, going to take it easy this afternoon though

38+5

Ps vinegar that sounds like it could be calm before the storm- hope your bag is packed!!

BB01 Sun 30-Jun-13 15:08:39

Marking spot in hope that one day I'll be able to keep up!

Abzs Sun 30-Jun-13 16:20:18

Pack your bags ladies! I am sitting in the hospital because Small has decided to disengage and turn shoulder first. I may be here until it shifts or needs shifted. Only came in for monitoring as it went quiet.

And it's a lovely sunny day and the Tour is on sad

<bounces on ball>

SlouchingPanda Sun 30-Jun-13 16:51:28

I am packed! Hurrah!

Abzs hope all is ok and you escape back to the sunshine soon.

MightBeMad Sun 30-Jun-13 17:24:47

Abz, hope all is okay with you and small and you get out soon.

Must finish packing bag. Must finish packing bag...

VinegarDrinker Sun 30-Jun-13 18:29:47

Abz hope Small sorts him/herself out - head down vibes coming your way!

Well 12 more sweaty miles on the bike today, 6 up hill, with a toddler on the back, plenty of bumpy potholes but no sign of this baby wanting out! She is very determined to stay put by the look of things. Lovely picnic with my Mum, brother, sister and her BF though.

Thinkingof4 Sun 30-Jun-13 18:45:42

abzs oh no disengaged!! I didn't even know that happened- have you been doing handstands or something? Keep bouncing as I'm sure that will do the trick. Fx you are home soon

Thinkingof4 Sun 30-Jun-13 18:47:25

Xpost with vinegar shock
12 miles half uphill <faints>
In the heat too!

dinkystinky Sun 30-Jun-13 19:11:48

Good grief Vinegar - you're some kind of superwoman! Glad you had a nice picnic at the end of the 6 miles uphill to look forward to!!

Abzs - hope Small sorts themselves out v soon so you can get back home and enjoy some sunshine.

Esme - sweeps - I had 3, yes 3, between 40 weeks and 42 weeks with DS1 and none of them worked. Rather uncomfortable but not painful. I think they work if you're teetering on the brink of going into labour but DS1 was not for moving. Sadly Bean seems to take after DS1 as far as I can tell...

McKTastic - DS, Murray, born 29.6.13
Bigbelly4 - DD2, Constance Rose, born 30.6.13, 7 lb 4 oz

Bigbelly said Constance Rose was born at 7am today after a quick induction (after migraines followed by bleeding on Bigbelly's part) - touch and go as to whether she'd need a section as baby's heartbeat was abit erratic but she was safely and quickly delivered once Bigbelly's waters were broken.

Abzs Sun 30-Jun-13 19:15:03

At 39+0 the concern is of waters go the cord could come first - prolapse - if the head is not engaged. So they want to keep me here just in case.

Thinking I didn't know it could disengage either!

Little monkey is having hiccups and bh now ...

dinkystinky Sun 30-Jun-13 19:18:36

Lots of optimal foetal positioning might help shift her out of her current position Abzs (and get you home as soon as possible). Basically get into all fours, put your arms down on the bed/floor and rest your head on your hands and stick your bum up in the air - in theory it helps by making more space for the baby to move out of the pelvic area and gives space (and the aid of gravity) to move them into a better position.

Abzs Sun 30-Jun-13 19:24:02

vinegar don't know how you're managing the cycling, but am envy. Also of icing and her walking ability.

VinegarDrinker Sun 30-Jun-13 19:28:35

Awww, thanks, not trying to show off, honest! Abz - upright frame, high handlebars, and going much slower than normal! And necessity - walking is getting really uncomfy so the bike still wins out.

Thinkingof4 Sun 30-Jun-13 19:51:56

Yes abzs positioning is the key, this website might help

www.spinningbabies.com/

in case you havent heard of it before

Bag mostly packed!
Few things I know I need to add, not sure if my list is comprehensive, but DH can always bring in anything I've forgotten.

Feeling a bit weak reading about vinegar's cycling. Might have to lie down wink

Went in to be monitored this afternoon because I hadn't really felt much movement since yesterday. All checked out ok - baby started wriggling like crazy as soon as the monitor went on. Very efficient (& hospital wifi kept me entertained). Probably having a growth scan tomorrow or Tuesday though because bump only measuring 30cm.

IcingTheCake Sun 30-Jun-13 21:06:07

Just catching up after a long hot day of shopping, sunbathing and walking around! It's been so tiring and my poor little hippopotamus feet are so swollen I'm sitting with them up and cold flannels draped over them - heaven! smile

Sorry for no name checking, whoever cycled 12 miles today, i admire you! In the heat of today as well, i was struggling to sit down!! grin
To the person who went in to be monitored and staying because of disengaging, sorry to hear! So unlucky! But then, lucky you got checked and hopefully something can be done to change! smile

I cant believe how excited I was Friday thinking labour was starting and now... Well nothing! BH's have stopped, a little sickness but not much, and just lost the buzz of energy! Im so gutted, i cant imagine another 3-5 weeks of being pregnant, i really don't think ill cope, I've been close to tears lately where I just am not coping well!

Hope everybody else is doing well

MrsRoss26 Sun 30-Jun-13 21:30:04

Aw, sorry to hear you're feeling down icing, let's hope that baby is staying put for a good reason but that you meet properly soon. I feel you on the feet, mine haven't felt comfortable for weeks now, but the cold flannels work smile

Hats off to you vinegar! I'm impressed, and envious!

totally fingers crossed baby is ok, even with the low measurement. Abzs ditto, glad you're being monitored and hoping for re-engagement!

esme we were reminded at nct that it's not just dtd that gets things going...it's us enjoying ourselves - so even if you're not entirely in the mood, maybe it's time for your dh to step up wink

I loved reading different's birth story - keep em coming ladies! My dh enjoyed hearing about this too, it all helps make everything real as we head towards my own due date, which both feels too far and too near! Still trying to enjoy baby's movements, but increasingly uncomfortable and niggly. Also, hullo andrea!

So sorry to hear so many of you are struggling with insomnia angry Here's hoping for some cooler nights to help settle us all.

MarieKL Sun 30-Jun-13 21:41:08

Congrats to BigBelly.

Icing big hugs to you. You've certainly been on a bit of a roller coaster and what with that combined with all the pg hormones no wonder you're feeling teary. Just think though it's only another 5 weeks max and you've already got through 35 so even if you don't quite know how you'll do it you will.

Vingear I think you're completely barmey, amazing but barmey. I can't imagine anything more difficult than trying to sit on a bicycle seat right now. Sounds like you had a lovely day though and the journey back downhill must have been so good.

Abzs Sounds like you're being well looked after but must be frustrating. I had no idea babies could disengage either!

Totally glad baby wriggled away today. Let us know how you get on at the growth scan.

Esme I'm having a sweep at 40 wks tomorrow. Figure it can't hurt (too much anyway) and has to be worth a try.

Hope everyone gets a good nights sleep tonight.

dinkystinky Sun 30-Jun-13 23:49:11

Have just rounded off a lovely weekend of sun, paddling pool, all fresco eating, lido and paddling in the memorial fountain with a trip to the cinemas with dh to see Populaire which was just the right kind of happy fluff for my current hormonal state - feeling v contented right now.

Icing - don't feel down, you've been getting clear signs baby is on its way. Sometimes it takes a while for labour to set in properly - the good thing is with all the early labour your body will be well used to it and it should go about faster when it kicks in for real.

Totally - hope the growth scan goes OK. And good luck to the 5am or earlier club with getting a good nights sleep tonight

VinegarDrinker Mon 01-Jul-13 04:12:24

Aaaaaargh going insane. Can't get comfy, can't sleep, been wide awake since 1.45. Had some painful tightenings earlier this eve but surprise, surprise it hasn't turned into anything. Feel so huge that whichever side I lie on bump just pulls and drags so much it hurts (even with a pillow underneath). Can hear the birds singing and it's starting to get light. Grrr.

Sorry for the whine blush

39+6 now, counting down the hours til I'm having a sweep tomorrow!

MrsRoss26 Mon 01-Jul-13 04:36:18

How many hours is it vinegar? Could you drag yourself off for some crap tv to send you off to sleep?

SlouchingPanda Mon 01-Jul-13 05:55:35

Morning Team! Sorry to hear of your wide-awake woes, Vinegar and hope you have managed to get back to sleep for a bit.

Icing hope you are feeling a bit better and that your hippopoto-feet are back to human ones today. Totally good luck for your scan - hope your baby is growing well.

I'm still not sure why I have the insomnia... I think it's 'just' pregnancy. But by the time I've woken for a wee, got back to bed, waited for the inevitable BH to settle, faffed about on my phone for a bit , thought about how unbelievably LOUD the birds are for such tiny things, I am wide awake.

Still, I am renaming it the Wide A-Bake club in this house as I've now got a strawberry and almond traybake in the oven, so at least something useful has come of it. This baby had better come soon or else I am going to start getting seriously fat wink.

38+4 today.

dinkystinky Mon 01-Jul-13 06:12:15

Oh no Vinegar - so sorry the insomnia is back, especially after such a busy day. Slouching - love that you are using your early wakefulness to bake!

Just heard on the news that all parking bays in the vicinity of St Marys have now been suspended until the royal baby arrives. Quite how we pregnant plebs are meant to get there to give birth seems to have been rather overlooked. Grrr.

Slouching I'm in awe of your baking. I'd love to be able to potter away in the kitchen, but the house we're in is a bit of a strange set up and the bedrooms are right off the kitchen! I think I'd wake everyone else up. Probably for the best that I can't be up baking every morning. I'm enough of a carb fiend as it is.

Woke at 12, drenched in sweat, which is VERY unlike me. I'm normally the one wearing 2 layers more than everyone else. Managed to get back to sleep until 3, but awake since then. I seem to be coping ok with minimal sleep though. Must be all those years of working 24+ hour shifts in Ireland where we just ignored the EWTD. grin

How annoying, dinky. The parking could be suspended for weeks!!! That's crazy. It's not like Prince William will be driving round looking for a parking spot - they'll be dropped off by a driver or ambulance. How much security do they need? Surely only just outside would be enough.

dinkystinky Mon 01-Jul-13 06:22:09

I get pregnancy night sweats too Totally - delightful isn't it! I've found cooking the bedroom maps much as possible, having a cool shower before bed and not sleeping under anything helps stave them off abit - but not much. Agree with prior experience of going 24 hours plus without sleep being a good grounding for motherhood - unsurprisingly one of the prequisites of my job is to contract out of the EWTD..

dinkystinky Mon 01-Jul-13 06:28:33

X-posted Totally - I know, its crazy. Bet the staff are finding it a major pain in the bum as no real other parking around there due to proximity to Paddington! Am guessing its a security measure for car bombs etc. Rather expecting everyone entering the same building as the Lindo Wing (which sadly the birth centre is) to have to undergo a security search too. May go sit on my washing machine today to jiggle Bean down as really don't want to undergo that in active labour...

IT'S JULY!!!

Abzs Mon 01-Jul-13 07:14:27

Dinky - your auto correct gets better and better! How does one cook a bedroom map? Mind you, my phone just called you dimly, which I thought was rather rude.

SlouchingPanda Mon 01-Jul-13 08:27:40

July! shock

MightBeMad Mon 01-Jul-13 08:43:42

Omg July shock

Sorry to hear of more nighttime wakefulness and discomforts. Am very envious of all the lovely food that is being prepared though (both nocturnal and otherwise!). My boiled eggs don't really cut it in comparison grin

Thankfully had a slightly better night's sleep last night and post-jab arm is not too sore. Mw appointment this morning.

36+3

IcingTheCake Mon 01-Jul-13 08:58:25

Ahh July is here - about time smile

Sorry to hear about everyone who couldn't sleep, its horrible being awake when you know its time to sleep!

dinky thats so ridiculous with the parking, how can they expect people to work around that?! It's just silly!

Sorry for my rant yesterday, had a full nights sleep last night and my hippo feet are a lot less swollen, just fed up with pregnancy now, although i feel a bit bad saying that blush also my midwife won't give me a sweep until 41 weeks, and because that falls on a Saturday i have to wait until the Monday after sad

I dont know if anybody here would know, but a lot of people at DP's work have been getting a bug, gastroenteritis, and now hes been very sick and on the toilet all morning, am i okay to be around him? I feel horrible even asking because normally i wouldn't think twice of looking after him but of course i have to put the baby first so thought I'd ask you wide MNetters! smile

VinegarDrinker Mon 01-Jul-13 09:00:32

Baking is probably a good plan for insomniacs - slouching your bake sounds seriously tasty. We're in a flat though with a bedroom directly underneath the kitchen so would feel bad banging around in the small hours.

DH got up with DS and doesn't have to work til this afternoon so did get a bit of sleep from 4.30 til 8. And I've just sent them out to the shop for fresh croissants and juice.

Considering a swim in our local Lido today if I can drag my elephantine self out of bed.

IcingTheCake Mon 01-Jul-13 09:06:40

Just read my post back WISE MNetters i promise you! Not wide at all blush ill go sit in the corner blush

SlouchingPanda Mon 01-Jul-13 09:13:14

Icing make sure both you and he wash your hands a lot and especially after he vomit//uses the toilet and before you prepare and eat any food/drink. It may be difficult to avoid, but worth a try.

Re. baking, my experiment was a success (cake's not wrong for breakfast if you've been up since 0500, right?). I had to find a recipe to use up some jam after making 7 pots of it the other day!

Swimming sounds good. I have taken to sitting in the garden with my feet in a bucket. Not quite the same!

evelynj Mon 01-Jul-13 09:15:04

Mmmm, croissants and juice, lovely.

Slouching-so jealous of your baking-on my to do list is to make granola for post birth semi healthy energy food (& believe oatmeal increases milk supply?)

Can't believe it's July, hurray!

Dinky that is so ridiculous about the parking. When is her actual due date does anyone know?

I have no playgroup now for DS as sone for summer, eek! Cat to vets this morn then lunch soft play place with some friends so today's ticked off. went to see despicable me yest & was good so may hit the flicks again tis week-seats were pretty comfy!

Have good days all-waiting to see who the first July baby will be!

VinegarDrinker Mon 01-Jul-13 09:17:23

Icing tbh if you are in the same house you have probably already been exposed to it. Second hand washing etc though. Baby will be fine if you get it but just a bit grim for you!

esme80 Mon 01-Jul-13 09:58:52

Icing actually, if Im honest I am quite wide at the moment...

Dinky Im assuming the royal family is paying for a private chauffeur for anyone having a baby at st marys in july? No?

39+5 today, DS was born now. Telling bump she has all day to get out, not sure she is listening though... Oh but tomorrow is SIL and FIL birthday, maybe shes waiting for that...

Oh and thanks for info on sweeps! Think I will ask for one on thursday then.

cheekbyjowl Mon 01-Jul-13 10:31:43

morning. happy july! I've just managed to break my work laptop so using the time to catch up whilst the IT dept tuts at me

thanks to everyone who advised on grobags.

abz have you left the hospital now? is all ok?

sorry so many of you are struggling to sleep. I find late night walks help before bed, and sleeping near an open window. also lots of pillows.

dinky thats shocking. what do the hosp advise? were you going to drive or take a taxi?

last week of work this week, and best of all michael buble on thursday night. if his dulcit tones don't bring on labour I'm not sure what will grin

38 + 5

OhGood Mon 01-Jul-13 10:39:20

hi all - wondered are we doing a postnatal thread also or shall we all hang in here?

photographerlady Mon 01-Jul-13 11:00:06

Yay July.... Ready, Set, Give birth!

photographerlady Mon 01-Jul-13 11:01:38

OhGood a postnatal thread sounds like a good idea when it's all about where you ladies would rather post. Hope things are going well smile

Persuasion Mon 01-Jul-13 11:23:01

Welcome to all the newcomers, just in time for July shock

icing wide mnetters made me snort! Glad you're feeling a little happier today. I keep having short runs of stronger contractions too, then they die out. Yesterday I had some mild diarrhoea but nothing happened overnight, it's driving me mad so I sympathise! Hopefully (for both of us) this is all good uterus preparation and when we do go into labour we'll both have 2 hour sneeze births...... In terms of the bug, it may already be too late, but thorough hand washing is worth a try. I had norovirus at Christmas and we managed to stop DH getting it by prolific use of bleach after each toilet, separate towels and thorough handwashing (if it is norovirus it needs to be with soap, and friction for at least a minute each time). Having said all that DH got a bug from work a few months ago, we did the same thing and I still got it confused

vinegar glad you got back to sleep. Good luck wih your sweep.

dinky I'd be on the phone to the hospital to see what the arrangements are for 'normal' people. evelyn I believe the due date is being kept a secret, I wonder if shutting from the beginning of July is to prevent speculation, or because she's just reached 'term' maybe? Either way very annoying! (also Evelyn, I hope your cat is ok)

abz any update? I also didn't know they could disengage. Fingers crossed for head reengagement asap!

ohgood I think a postnatal thread is definitely going to be in order soon, and it is July! Up to those of you who have already had your babies though, I don't want to kick you out!

bigbelly4 Mon 01-Jul-13 11:29:02

Hello ladies! I'm back with a beautiful baby girl, Constance Rose born yesterday morning weighing 7lb 4 oz at 38+4.

Cant remember where I posted my story so may be repeating (sorry!). I was admitted to assessment unit on Friday with mega migraine, although BP was normal they wanted to keep an eye on me overnight. Woke on Saturday feeling much better, went to the loo and promptly bled everywhere! No one was too worried as have bleed before and I have a cervical ectropian (bit like a blood blister that pops when full) but it was agreed that with everything beginning to show signs my body had had enough I would be induced.

So first attempt failed on the sat as pesary fell out! So new one put in at 5am Sunday morning, had a few niggles but nothing major, hubby arrived at 6am, when things were hotting up, having been able to move around I suddenly found myself needing to be monitored as baby's heartbeat was erratic. Moved up to delivery at half 6, and there it all went a bit scary. Heart was really struggling (going from 186 to 72bpm) so I was prepped for c section - but in meantime had to lay on left side, water broken and sat with a Dr's hand up me keeping pressure off baby's head and foetal monitor attached to head. However, Baby had other ideas about coming out the sunroof and as soon as my waters were broken, I puked and she crowned! two contractions later and she was born, happy, healthy and beautiful!

Despite all this we were allowed a 6 hour discharge and spent a lovely night as a newly extended family of 6!

What an amazing story bigbelly, and how great to get home so quickly smile

I've spent the morning vomiting - hoping the hyperemesis isn't worsening again, and that it is instead a result of getting just 3 hours sleep last night! I have my 36 week check up in an hour, so I really ought to get dressed blush

I had a bump cast done on Friday and decorated it over the weekend with my DCs. Just need my little one to arrive so name and date can be added, and then I can get it varnished.

dinkystinky Mon 01-Jul-13 12:21:51

Right - have dusted down stairs, cleaned our front walls (cillit bang is amazing stuff!) to the property and weeded - and still Bean is determinedly staying put. Off to go sort out the Bean corner off our bedroom shortly.

Abzs - the autocorrect on my nexus will be the undoing of me! I meant to say COOLING THE BEDROOM as much as possible. Fortunately on the pc now so any gobbledegook I come out with is all my own... Anyway, glad it amused you. Are you home now? Hope Small is co-operating now.

Vinegar - glad you got some more sleep and definitely do head to the lido. Its lovely feeling relatively weightless in the water. Though I do admit to feel abit like a hippo wallowing in the river in the serpentine yesterday. Made me feel better to at least think that the pedaloes passing by were bigger than me grin

Icing - hope you avoid the bug. Agree with all the advice above. If at all possible, I'd have DP using a different bathroom to you too and keep towels/cups/eating utensils etc separate.

Cheek - no idea as to when DOC is due - think its mid July some time. Also no idea as to how the hospital imagine other people in labour/needing A&E or pick ups or visiting family are meant to cope - the midwives were the ones advising the hourly parking bays when I went in for my 38 week check so they clearly werent kept in the loop. We were planning on driving - as its free parking over night and extortionate hourly rates during the day normally, and I have no desire to freak out a taxi driver with my mooing noises in labour.

Ohgood- and all those with babies already, feel free to stay on here. On other antenatal threads I've been on, we've tended to all stay on the antenatal thread until most people have popped (while nearly 20 are out, there's over 60 to go!) then shift en masse to the post natal threads.

BigBelly - thanks for sharing your birth story. Glad it was a quick birth despite the scary moments and I hope you had a lovely night at home with Constance and life as a family of 6 is going well.

Waves - hope you get some rest today. A bump cast sounds lovely.

IcingTheCake Mon 01-Jul-13 12:42:09

waves hope you feel better soon!

Thank you everyone for the advice and support smile im getting stomach cramps but haven't needed to go to the loo yet confused

dinky i think i saw somewhere its only the four spaces closest to the ward? The rest are still available to park in smile

Went in for a growth scan this morning, which showed no growth since the last one a few weeks ago. Being admitted this afternoon. Just at home trying to sort out childcare etc. I guess this means I'll have to cancel my massage & mel out with h on Wednesday sad, but hopefully I'll be cuddling the baby by then grin so won't be too bothered.

Right, better sort out my bag......

dinkystinky Mon 01-Jul-13 13:28:52

Thanks Icing - am going to be around the area tomorrow so will check out for myself which spaces are suspended/which are still available for use as the birth centre had no real idea.

Totally - sorry that the growth scan was disappointing - at least you've got your husband back now (and an agreement on names)! Hope you manage to get childcare sorted and that your little boy/girl arrives soon so you can come home soon with the latest addition to your family. Keep us posted on that hospital wifi!

Thinkingof4 Mon 01-Jul-13 13:42:13

totally sorry to hear that but as you say hopefully you'll be meeting your little one very soon

bigbelly amazing story, your body was obviously determined it wasn't having a section! Lovely name too

icing still sounding promising!!

vinegar is your sweep today or tomorrow? Mine is tomorrow, sounds like lots of us may be having them this week, so they are bound to work for some of us (is it 50% or did I make that up?)

dinky what a lovely day you had yesterday, and the nesting today sounds v busy too! Don't forget to put your feet up when you get the chance

slouching your baking sounds lovely, I keep meaning to bake more but never quite get round to it...

Anyway can't remember any more personals as on phone again. The 'anything happening' messages are coming thick and fast now despite being overdue 3 times before confused
I have had a few niggles here and there but nothing significant and no plug or anything like that. As I said sweep tomorrow morning so really hoping that will get things going. Due date tomorrow shock Can't believe how fast this pregnancy has gone
39+6

esme80 Mon 01-Jul-13 14:10:17

Everyone I know is driving me crazy! I mean, when this baby comes I will let them know, they dont have to ask all the time. I feel like I cant phone anyone either. Called my SIL yesterday, as soon as I said it was me I got an expectant yeeeeees??? Ehm, just calling for a chat actually!

Silver15 Mon 01-Jul-13 14:20:46

Totally sorry to hear that the growth scan was disappointing. Hope you will get to meet to baby

Bigbelly congrats.

Sorry not so many personals as I'm on the phone and my mind seems to be in sleep mode today. I could not even deal with the filing. Just lying on the sofa listening to bean kicking away.

So, I'm on the monitor (again). Waiting for MW to come back to examine me & see where we go from here..... Bored already.

Abzs Mon 01-Jul-13 15:56:31

Still in hospital. Being checked for cholestasis now. Small has folded itself in half. Head by my right hip, feet under right ribs. Laying on its back, looking like a sun roof job.. .

shelley72 Mon 01-Jul-13 16:24:50

Just trying to catch up on the news, having tough day or so, feeling very weepy and very sore, struggling to stand up straight. Have just made mistake of looking at my stomach sad

Anyway congrats big belly on your little girl. Totally sorry the growth scan want reassuring, but at least they are looking after you and won't be long before you meet your baby at last. And same with you abzs hopefully small will shuffle round for you soon. At least you can mumsnetsmile

And there's lots of nesting and baking going on, I had mad panic on weds to get things done then went into labour that night. Never did finish the hoovering (as I told the midwife and surgeon a million times). Still doesn't seem quite as important now!

MrsMillions Mon 01-Jul-13 17:18:03

Yay for July grin

Slouching I've been been busy in the kitchen too but not at quite the same time of day as you! My sleep problems seem to translate into a very restless first half of the night then a good second half, so whilst not what I'd like, I don't think there's any point me getting up.

Icing I only had a few mega pains yesterday and started getting excited, then had a real come-down when it amounted to nothing after giving up on my trip to the shops and retiring to sofa instead. So hate to think what I'd be feeling like in your position.

dinky I hope further investigation confirms it is only some of the parking spaces out of use.

Re DOC due date, 13th July was rumoured for a while but last week I read suggestions this was around 2 weeks later than her real date and had been leaked deliberately, which I could understand. Given the problems some of you are having already with family members hunting for news (big sympathy there), and they have the world's press to contend with too, would make sense. Apparently they did the same with Prince William's own due date.

My little one still seems to be able to rotate quite a lot in there. Would really like it to settle with back on my left so I can relax a bit about sleep positions. I'm trying to sleep on my left as much as poss but when I wake up with a sore hip sometimes I just have to swap over.

MarieKL Mon 01-Jul-13 17:27:04

Congrats to Bigbelly. I really enjoyed you birth story.

Shelley I remember my belly after DS. Looked like play dough jelly, with the surface resembling the craters on the moon! I hope the soreness eases soon, and the baby blues pass quickly. I remember with DS crying because I didn't know why I was crying. Poor DH was entirely baffled.

Abzs that's quite an impressive fold! Let us know how the test results go.

Totally I hope you managed to get everything sorted. Looking forward to hearing more updates, and fingers crossed you won't be bored for too much longer!

Dinky let us know how you get on investigating parking bay options. What a nightmare. Your weekend sounds great though.

Vingear did you have your sweep today? I had mine earlier this afternoon, amd will have another Thursday if need be. Nothing happening yet, but baby was almost fully engaged and I was 1cm diluted so hopefully something will happen soon. Thinkingof4 good luck for yours tomorrow.

Slouching mmmm. When you're pg there isn't such a thing as too early for cake, especially if you've been up half the night.

Esmo I know exactly what you mean about not being able to call anyone anymore. It's so frustrating. I'm currently starting every text/call with nothing happening yet.

Sorry you're having a rough time, shelley

So. MW eventually came back & examined me to see about the pessary - already 2cm dilated, so straight to rupturing of membranes when LW ready. Waited an hour or so before coming upstairs, but just come up & had that done. Now just got to wait & see if anything happens.....

shelley72 Mon 01-Jul-13 17:58:13

Ooh exciting totally! You might be the first of the July babies!

dinkystinky Mon 01-Jul-13 18:12:40

So exciting Totally - looks like you're next up!

Abzs - hopefully Small will straighten out and all will be OK. Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Shelley - nice to see you on. Has dd2 got a name now? Hope things are starting to settle down at home for you.

Esme, Thinking, Marie - don't worry. Am pretty sure I'll be joining you in the overdue club!

Have been stuck at home today waiting for a parking warden to deliver a new parking permit (long story but basically the idiots at the council sent us a permit for the wrong zone and dh didn't notice till I pointed it out to him when I had to drive Ds to his new school) - still no warden or new permit but lots of boring jobs done, including cleaning the washing machine. Really hope this permit turns up soon as don't fancy being housebound again tomorrow!

photographerlady Mon 01-Jul-13 18:55:29

Heads up: Tonight BBC1 8:30pm Panorama about Pregnancy and taking medicines.

cheekbyjowl Mon 01-Jul-13 19:08:54

good luck abz and totally!

bigbelly I loved reading your birth story. what a joy to be a family of six! I bet your children must be over the moon with the new arrival. I hope I can have a big family too.

esme I heard that the royal family announce the birth by writing it on a bit of parchment that then gets put up on the gates of buckingham palace. maybe we can all do the same...can you imagine? the press would get so confused with all our little bits of paper but it would be a novel way of reducing the number of texts we need to send wink

slouching if you keep baking I'm moving in! what a domestic goddess. was it you who made the octopus salad too? I've never tried that but I kinda fancy it...where do you find octopus? alas I've got birds eye chicken and chips for tea

where is sundaysunshine? is there a chance you've had the baby?

VinegarDrinker Mon 01-Jul-13 19:18:21

Wow, good luck Totally! Abz do you know when you get a final decision?

My sweep is tomorrow, too. FX it does something...

shelley72 Mon 01-Jul-13 19:56:57

No, still no name as yet. Down to two I think but hard deciding what suits. Was totally convinced I was having a boy - carried same way as with ds, same eating habits, hairy tummy shock - so only seriously considered boys names. For some reason there are loads of boys names I like and very few girls. Still have another 5 weeks or so to go.

Good luck for your sweep vinegar. still can't believe that my baby is here already. I wake up and miss my bump !

MightBeMad Mon 01-Jul-13 19:59:42

Good luck totally and Abz! And to those having sweeps tomorrow.

Had a couple of killer bhs earlier this eve which ou me off going to aqua, but all seems to have settled now. Mw said baby not engaged sad but uterus very sensitive (when she went to feel for baby I kept tightening). Heaven knows what that means, other than I'm getting uncomfy bhs!

36+3

VinegarDrinker Mon 01-Jul-13 20:03:12

shelley I meant to say, saw your other thread and hope you are feeling a bit more positive. It all sounds very, very normal to me, classic time for "baby blues" plus culmination of all your worry and stress for the last few weeks.

Had a baby girl, Naomi, at 7:18pm. Started having contractions shortly after membranes ruptured at 5:30. Baby arrived safely after a 1h25m labour. She's 5lb8oz & doing well. grin
If we'd been a bit more prepared, we could probably have gone home tonight, but we haven't got a car seat or crib sorted out yet - we leant the car seat to a friend & don't have it back & the crib is stil in my parents attic! So hopefully home tomorrow morning.

VinegarDrinker Mon 01-Jul-13 20:47:01

Oh wow! Congratulations!

dinkystinky Mon 01-Jul-13 20:57:13

Congratulations Totally and lovely name (its one of the v few dh and I could agree on for a girl) - delighted she's arrived safely and swiftly.

Persuasion Mon 01-Jul-13 20:58:56

Wow, congratulations totally! That was bloody quick! Glad she's doing well, sounds like you're ok too? Naomi is a beautiful name too.

Shelley I hope you're feeling a bit better soon, sounds like classic baby blues, all those hormones switching around. Good luck on deciding on a final name too.

dinky glad you had a productive day, if slightly boring. Hopefully tomorrow will be better for you!

I also think I'm heading for the overdue club too, no progress today at all. I have my first sweep booked for Wednesday, good luck for those having theirs tomorrow.

shelley72 Mon 01-Jul-13 21:03:38

Congratulations totally. Such happy news and glad all went ok if a little fast! Enjoy those snuggles with your baby girl smile

Silver15 Mon 01-Jul-13 21:17:34

Congratulations Totally. Naomi is a beautiful name.

MarieKL Mon 01-Jul-13 21:24:05

Congratulations Totally. Lovely to hear that after all the waiting she arrived so quickly. I hope you have a good night and get everything sorted so you can get home tomorrow.

Dinky did your permit turn up? Sounds like you put the time to good use though.

Mightbemad I've no idea what that means either. Glad the Bhs have settled down though.

Thanks to photographer for the heads up. May catch it on iplayer. Was it any good?

Cheek your dinner sounds good to me. I'm craving carbs and anything that doesn't result in too much washing up is always a bonus!

Persuasion good luck with your sweep. So far there's no indication that mine has made any difference, but maybe something will happen later. If not it would be lovely to have some more company in the overdue club smile

No permit yet MarieKL - I cant imagine parking wardens are the most efficient of couriers though grin The warden has probably gone into a nervous breakdown at the idea of giving out a permit rather than a ticket and has had to be retrained...

Good luck to all those having sweeps - hope they bring the desired result v soon for you!

SlouchingPanda Mon 01-Jul-13 21:37:20

Wow! Congratulations Totally - super speedy work! Will you still make it to your meal out after all!?

And now for something completely different: Cheek I get my octopus from Morrisons <exotic> grin - lots of lovely recipes online for Greek octopus salad. Not to everyone's taste I know, but I love it and I can daydream about being in the Mediterranean, not in home counties suburbia. I'm clearly becoming a bit of a food bore in the absence of any baby action!

Thinkingof4 Mon 01-Jul-13 21:48:10

totally wow congratulations on the speedy and safe arrival of Naomi. Enjoy your first night with her.

tryitonforsize Mon 01-Jul-13 22:02:29

Congrats totally - amazing news and what a brilliant labour! Starting to get very impatient now... although still all seems surreal... not sure I have fully grasped that I am having another baby!

39 +4

tryitonforsize Mon 01-Jul-13 22:19:05

Dinky - just realised you and I are due on the same day (thanks for adding me to the list. Have you got anything planned to speed up the process or are you just going the 'it'll come when it comes route'. I'm on the latter path right now but wondering if I shouldn't give this baby a helping hand!

dinkystinky Mon 01-Jul-13 22:25:50

Scrubbing walls and washing, hoovering and dusting , weeding etc today were all with the view to get Bean to move down - no sign of it working at all so far! Think am minded to let things run their course - ds1 was evicted at 42 weeks, so as long as Bean arrives before that point I'll be happy. Mind you, its meant to get up to 29 degrees next week so may well change my mind and take whatever I can find to speed things up once the temperature starts rising!

evelynj Tue 02-Jul-13 00:03:46

Congrats totally & Shelley, wonderful stuff! Totally-that was fast, hope all's good.

Dinky-hope you got your permit-can you adjust the old wrong one to work anywhere near the hospital?!

I'm in bed making a long to do list for tomorrow & will probably only manage about 2 minor things off it!

So jealous of anyone with energy-I organised a cupboard today tho, (now have one tidy shelf purely for biscuits & the like to go with all the cups of tea I plan to have visitors making when they come round!) I plan to attempt a bit of wall painting tomorrow while DS is at my folks although DH has banned it but desperate to get new rooms finished-I'm obsessed!

Heartburn is doing my head in now & my diet is awful-have only had one of my 5 a day today. This baby will be full of junk food!

Worried I have too much in my hospital bags-cabin size bag for me & baby changing bag & pillows? Plan to be in for 2-3 days as elcs., does this seem ok

Also, has anyone given themselves the injections for blood thinning is it? Think you have to have them first 3 days but really don't know if I could face it myself.....

shelley72 Tue 02-Jul-13 00:36:25

Evelynj I took a cabin bag for baby (though needn't have bothered as she wasn't dressed until we left to come home) and a small holdall for me. In my hurry I forgot my pillow so this was brought in after. So what you have seems ok esp if you're in for a couple of days. As for the jabs, I'm doing this at the minute as they give you one a day for a week. Dh did my first and it hurt like hell so I'm doing them myself now. Best thing I've found is to pinch up some tummy fat (if you have any) and inject into that as you don't have so many nerves there. Obviously not near your scar though! If I can manage it sure you will be fine.

Dinky you must have a very comfy bean there. Babies always come when they're ready. Maybe they're just waiting to coincide with the royal babies arrival?!

In other news I now have cracked bleeding nipples to add to my list of woes, think the damage was done by (yet another) undiagnosed tongue tie. Using lots of lansinoh to try and get through feeds at the moment. And we've nearly decided on a name , we think we have a Florence. Maybe today we will officially announce it and wait for the puzzled faces

MightBeMad Tue 02-Jul-13 03:35:44

Shelley Florence is a lovely name! Sympathy on the cracked nipples. Lansinoh is the way forward, and a lactation consultant if you have access one?

Congratulations totally!! Hope your night in hospital is going well.

Evelyn I alo did the injections post dc1 and I'm needle phobic. They're really not that bad. I found injecting slowly into top of thigh (rather than stabbing the needle in as mw had demonstrated) to be the most comfortable approach. Also, Ice the area first and ou don't really feel it.

bigbelly4 Tue 02-Jul-13 03:40:06

Shelly - I am so with you on the nipple front! O had completely forgotten how bloody painful the first few days are! Buying shares in nipple cream as we speak!

Also LOVE the name Florence, it was the only other girls name we both agreed on, and was on our short list.

evelyn - depressing the plunger slowly, rather than injecting quickly is meant to be less painful.

shelley - Florence is a beautiful name.

Back in the 4am club, but thus time it's trying to BF, so really a much better version of the club. Hope the rest of you are joining us soon.

VinegarDrinker Tue 02-Jul-13 05:38:40

Bethan was born at 3.38am this morning after being told to go home at 1.20 at 2cm (I refused to leave!). Fast and furious labour with gas & air and TENS on the MLU, filled the pool but she came as I was about to get in!

2nd deg tear, stitched. She's been feeding like a pro for an hour or so already! She weighs 7lb 13oz..

dinkystinky Tue 02-Jul-13 06:17:31

Congrats on Bethans arrival Vinegar - must have been all that hill cycling getting her down into position. She's a lovely size!

Shelley - Florence is a beautiful name. Sorry to hear about the cracked nipples - can't be helping with general tearfulness and flood of hormones - hope they get better v v soon and the tongue this (if that's what is causing it) is diagnosed and dealt with quickly.

Evelyn - good luck with that wall painting today.

Totally - early morning starts are much nicer when you have a baby to cuddle aren't they?

SlouchingPanda Tue 02-Jul-13 06:28:48

Congratulations Vinegar!

Totally - I can't wait to be part of the 4am club with a baby (although may not be as prolific with the baking then)...

Slept through til 0615 today - if I were a toddler I'd probably have earned some sort of sticker or star for that wink.

38+5 (and still not even a niggle)

shelley72 Tue 02-Jul-13 06:29:19

Congratulations vinegar, these girls do seem to be in a hurry don't they?! Such a pretty name too. Still don't know how you've managed to do so much up to the birth..

Wonder who's next?

dinkystinky Tue 02-Jul-13 06:31:25

The girl are rapidly starting to catch up with the boys!

CitizenOscar Tue 02-Jul-13 06:31:45

Congratulations Vinegar. Hope you & Bethan are enjoying getting to know each other. Trying not to be too envy of all the babies as it would be better if DS2 stayed inside until DS2's chicken pox subsides...

Cheeseandbread Tue 02-Jul-13 06:39:29

More babies! Congratulations Shelly Totally and Vinegar and what beautiful names you've chosen. Sorry about the cracked nipples Totally I have 2 tubes of nipple cream at the ready...

I had a day of nesting yesterday- washing, scrubbing, hoovering, sweeping and mopping. It felt good. Them went to meet some friends in London for an early supper ( I got given a 'baby on board' badge by a kindly tube official who saw me waddling along and thought I might need it :-)

Good luck to whoever is next!

37+3

Congratulations, Vinegar. Beautiful name! Glad they let you stay!

Glad you got a good nights sleep, Slouching! Pity there Wong be any freshly baked goodies for breakfast though. Maybe you could whip up some pancakes or welsh cakes or something wink.

Cheese - I hope nobody needs to see your badge to figure out you're about to pop!

Persuasion Tue 02-Jul-13 07:11:44

Congratulations vinegar! Technically on your due date too? Bethan is another lovely name,
I think I've loved every name on the thread so far, I'm going to have to stop telling people I like the name, especially as hopefully the babies will be coming thick and fast now!

Runswithsquirrels Tue 02-Jul-13 07:19:17

Congratulations Vinegar.
Now, not many babies actually come on their due dates and since Bethan has, I imagine she's taken those odds and mine will sit tight a while longer!

bigbelly4 Tue 02-Jul-13 07:25:40

Congratulations vinegar! These girlies seem to be in a rush to see their mummy's! Not sure any of us with girls have had long labours!

Welcome to the girl gang! Lovely name too!

I can't get that 'here come the girls' song out of my head when I read this thread now!

MightBeMad Tue 02-Jul-13 07:32:00

Congratulations vinegar!!!

TomDaleysTrunks Tue 02-Jul-13 07:56:56

Congratulations vinegar. Beautiful name, glad she is feeding well.

TomDaleysTrunks Tue 02-Jul-13 07:57:55

Giggling at "here come the girls". grin
Got a poorly sleeping toddler sleeping next to me, it's going to be a long day.

dinkystinky Tue 02-Jul-13 08:00:41

Oh no Tom - hope your little one gets better soon. Illness while the weather is warm is super grim.

Silver15 Tue 02-Jul-13 08:47:45

Congulatulations Vinegar. Bethan is a lovely name. Not common as well.

All these babies make me want to meet mine soon. Still have a few weeks before due date.

I don't know whether it is MS coming back but I have vomed twice this week including yesterday. Don't know what's going on as I have never has it this late in pregnancy.

Also Bhs seem to have gone down. I'm back on the RLT so hope that will help progress things as I was getting strong bh on it.

IcingTheCake Tue 02-Jul-13 08:48:41

Oh wow congratulations vinegar! What a lovely name too smile

MrsRoss26 Tue 02-Jul-13 08:51:43

Congratulations vinegar! What a great weight, and lovely name too. We should all have been following you in your cycling ways!

shelley I love Florence too, such a pretty name. A lovely choice smile I hope the cracked nipples heal quickly.

tom fingers crossed the poorly toddler stays sleepy!

cheekbyjowl Tue 02-Jul-13 09:08:37

Great news vinegar. well done for staying put. also love the names bethan and florence

Shelley hope youre feeling less down despite the biscuitbiscuit (I still think this emoticon serves a multi purpose) and enjoying time with your family

silver sorry youre getting sick. hope youre clear of it soon.

I haven't experienced a braxton hix yet, still have a high bump and I think the head is near my belly button. I might be here a while longer. alas.

notprincesskate Tue 02-Jul-13 09:09:13

Congratulations vinegar I also love the name and was on my short list but vetoed by DH.
Can't remember who asked but another one here on the injections and being super cowardly about giving them this time, I have to count in my head, look the other way and then go for it, stupid thing is it doesn't really hurt unless I hesitate and then it stings a lot, managed fine last time so it's all a bit odd. Holding up hand for serious sore nips too, have shares in lanoslin, hoping to try start bf again today- have been expressing to rest them due to the pain, but super nervous as they did honestly feel like they were on fire even touching them with a breast pad was agony, I'm so hoping things will have improved a bit today.
On phone so can't remember the personals, hope those still waiting aren't getting too inpatient.

shelley72 Tue 02-Jul-13 09:09:50

Well aren't nans just great! Phoned mine this morning to tell her we've (almost) decided on a name. She said 'oh that's unusual' probably forgetting that she had an aunt Florence what made you come up with that? Then proceeded to tell me how much the baby looks like her brother when he was born, and how terrible I look now compared to then. Well I'm nearly six years older, have had two children and many sleepless nights since then. Thanks Nan grin. grandad much more supportive, 'very good' he said as he does.

I'm going to attempt the stairs in a bit once dh back from school run, have been doing everything sleeping washing etc downstairs. Though I probably won't look in dcs rooms for fear of wanting to tidy! Really want to sleep in my own bed tonight.

Silver isn't being sick a pre labour sign? Could be it's nearly time?

AmaDablam Tue 02-Jul-13 09:14:21

Hello smile

Just quickly marking my place after way too long of just using the FB group! Congratulations to all of those whose babies have arrived (dinky is being great at keeping us updated over on FB!)

Feels very surreal that we are in July already and babies are now starting to be born on their due date! Almost 3 weeks to go here still but knowing it could happen any time is both exciting and scary...

dinkystinky Tue 02-Jul-13 09:22:16

Shelley ignore your nan - its a really beautiful name. Good luck with the stairs - take it nice and slow - and enjoy your bed! I too look a lot less youthful than when I had ds1 - but the good thing is I now have 7 years of being a mum under my belt, so am much more chilled out about the baby maelstrom that is going to hit any day soon :-)

Cheese - bless the LU guy. Oddly enough some people won't give up a seat unless they see a badge (regardless of the humungobump) so I think he was genuinely trying to be helpful.

Still waiting for the worlds slowest warden to deliver the elusive permit (sadly we live in a different borough to the hospital Evelyn) so think am going to make some banana bread to pass the time this morning. Also need to sort out the medicine cupboards at some point today - fun, fun, fun....

dinkystinky Tue 02-Jul-13 09:26:07

PS NotPrincessKate - good luck with the bf today. When my nipples were really sore, I pop a pair of breast shells in my bra which let air get to the nipples and keep material off them. Creates a funny shape but worth it to avoid the discomfort.

Mmmmm. Banana bread. That has to be one of the top 10 smells in the world.

shelley - ignore your nan. Florence is a beautiful name. I know someone with a DD called Florence, but she gets called Florry now, which is also lovely. Whatever happened to 'if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all'? Of course you look older now, but so does everyone. In fact, the younger you are, the more obvious an extra 6 years is - DS must have 'aged' the most, whereas I bet your man looks almost the same wink. So take it as a compliment grin

Congratulations vinegar smile

It's all suddenly feeling a bit real for me, now that we are in July.... I'm not due until the end of the month, but am also well aware that babies have their own arrival schedules. Ideally I'd like mine to stay onboard as long as possible - he's measuring small because I've struggled to keep calories down throughout, but then again, the sooner he's out, the sooner I'll stop being sick, and hopefully be able to get the calories in that I need in order to sustain breast feeding.

Shelley I also think that Florence is a beautiful name. Beautiful at every age I reckon too.

I am looking forward to a day of not feeling like a zombie - 8 hours sleep last night which is the best in AGES. Very grateful that my body has given me a lovely rest smile

esme80 Tue 02-Jul-13 10:05:10

Congrats vinegar and totally!

I remember the MW at my antenatal class w DS saying only 5% of babies are born on their due date. Number stuck in my head! My due date tomorrow, not fancying my chances. Had period like pains during the night, and was sick this morning, but then everything stopped. Am slightly worried at the thought of being induced. Not the induction itself, but going over. My DS was born at 39+5 and weighed 9lbs1, scared of huuuge baby! And this heat wave next week doesnt sound fun. Sorry for long whinge, getting fed up!

SlouchingPanda Tue 02-Jul-13 10:08:56

Oh, Shelley that's the last thing you need when you're feeling a bit blue. Florence is an excellent name. I like your grandad's understated support though grin.

Bad start to to day in the Panda house. I broke a coffee cup getting it out of the cupboard then the coffee machine went bang, zonked out and won't work. Trying to negotiate the 'troubleshooting' bit in the manual is like trying to repair an intergalactic spaceship using only a child's drawing to guide you. I get the feeling I wasn't destined to have a coffee today! Going to have a bath then go back for a second try..

Thinkingof4 Tue 02-Jul-13 10:09:12

Congratulations vinegar lovely name too. I had a feeling you would be next!!
Just off for my sweep, but will catch up later
40weeks today!

Shelly I agree with everyone else- don't listen to your nan. I'm sure you look great!

I love my 'baby on board' badge- secretly wanted one for a while but never travel on the tube so no need... Dinky it's funny how people do notice the badge- no seat no my way in but got a seat on my way out grin

Baking bread and drinking raspberry leaf tea- I'm happy!

Waves, Slouching - glad you both got better sleep last night. Slouching - hope you get your coffee fix soon - you may need to go out to get it though to keep your blood pressure down!

Thanks Cheek.

Shelley I'm hoping that this sickness results into something.
Regarding your nan's comments, I empathise with you. I had pretty mean comments made about my DS2 when I had him from my sister-in-law. I was very hurt so became very protective of him.

I believe I get emotionally fragile post birth so this time I'm going to try and not accept visitors in the first week just to give me time to recover and enjoy my baby without worrying about people's comments.
