That was quick!! Just marking my place smile

Just marking my place too.

I definitely, definitely felt this sick this morning and wasn't imagining it. grin

loubeebaby don't worry about routines. And I think a lot depends on the temperament of the baby/toddler. Mine is better tempered as a toddler than a baby. There were times when she was young I couldn't soothe her at all! But as an 18months old on the flight, as long as she wasn't confined to the seat. She was happy walking around the plane, especially the toilets. And she was really easy to feed food wise. The airline supplies baby food (mush) and childrens meal. At 18mo, she was eating the childrens meal no problem.

But generally, I think babies are easier than toddlers.

Oh and 18mo is one of those really bad age where she's not interested at sitting down colouring or watching videos. I think that's why Eeek says 2+ is easier again.

Lots of twingy pains in my mid to lower abdomen today. I think it's gas?

I'm starving.

jmf294 Thu 17-Jan-13 14:50:21

Sorry to add a sad message to your thread.
Well after a bad scan on Saturday, the clear blue not progressing and bleeding for 2 days a scan today showed the heartbeat had gone.
The hospital won't do anything for a week as my first scan was done privately so just got to sit and wait.

Wishing you all healthy happy pregnancies and all the best for September!
It was fun being part of this group and my lovely dear husband to whom this pregnancy was a shock has said we can try again.

andadietcoke Thu 17-Jan-13 14:56:10

Oh jmf I'm so sorry. I hope the next few weeks go quickly and you have lots of real life support. I had lots of practical advice from the miscarriage forums, and there's a fantastic TTC after a mc forum that kept me sane when I wanted to scream and shout and cry.

I'm so sorry to hear that jmf294. Good luck ttc again. Your husband is right. If you can do it once, you can do it again. This proves at least your eggs and his swimmers are both working, isn't it?

CrikeeThree Thu 17-Jan-13 15:12:08

Really sorry, jmf

CrikeeThree Thu 17-Jan-13 15:14:02

I'm not on list, so if anyone who knows what they're doing could add me at any point (please! :-) ) I'd be really grateful...

It's DC3, EDD 8th Sep

ta! :-)

Done, CrikeeThree

So sorry jmf

LexyMa Thu 17-Jan-13 15:44:38

sorry JMF, and what a lovely DH yours sounds.

Just signing in, nothing interesting chez lexyma. Managing tiredness ok by going to bed almost the same time as DS (8pm) but am retching constantly at some times of the day - feel like my throat is full of phlegm, am seriously considering getting it checked out at the docs with some sort of scope.

Creamtea1 Thu 17-Jan-13 15:45:48

Really sorry to hear that jmf
Fingers crossed for another pregnancy and I hope you are looked after over the next couple of weeks.

Whyriskit Thu 17-Jan-13 15:46:43

amiready Thu 17-Jan-13 17:56:03

So sorry to hear that jmf I had been thinking of you. Your post made me cry - your DH clearly loves you and doesn't want to see you upset and is happy to try again. I'm so glad you won't lose the chance of another. All the best with it all.

jm233 Thu 17-Jan-13 18:11:05

Jmf- so sorry to hear your news. Really hope you are holding up and getting lots of support! Hopefully you will be back with good news soon! Fingers crossed for you and wishing you lots of luck!

I can't believe how many of us there are! I didn't realise a thread could 'run out'!

Have felt really icky today, and after about an hour of battling to keep my eyes open ended up going for a nap. Incredibly when I woke up my boobs were bigger!!! It's like my body sapped all my energy to grow them! I'm running out of things to wear now (have a really obvious 'four boob' thing going on) and really reluctant to go shopping for more baggy stuff for the sake of just one more month.

How is everyone doing on their weight gain?

jm233 Thu 17-Jan-13 18:13:07

Sorry, by one more month I meant one more month before I can tell people and needing to fool them with 'normal' clothes.

jmf so sorry to hear your news, but glad to hear you're going to try again.

LoadsaTuddles are you worried about the heat in August? Cause here in Edinburgh I am pretty sure it won't be hot... if we get a heatwave at all it's always more like June thankfully.

I'm feeling a bit nauseous today, but not really sick, it's more like a stomach in your mouth feeling on a rollercoaster... running seems to settle it strangely... anybody else into running/gym/cycling?

Still not countng chickens (embryos?) but starting to think now about the possibility of being a mum...
I'm freelance so hoping to take just 3mnths off completely then ease in starting with my main client for whom I only do about 0.75 days a week.. the aim of being freelance is to have life/work balance so want to start juggling both from as early as possible. I was REALLY disappointed that I would have to give up a uni course I just started teaching last year and taught from late Oct to Dec, but I've just realised if I tell them in plenty of time I could ask to move it to second semester and then it would be either Jan to Easter or Easter to Summer, both of which are probably possible as it's just one afternoon a week teaching and about the same prep. Phew!!

CrikeeThree Thu 17-Jan-13 19:05:41

thanks for adding me OneLTT

jm233 that story about the nap giving your boobs enough energy is one of my fave pregnancy anecdotes! Really made me giggle smile

CrikeeThree Thu 17-Jan-13 19:06:15

enough energy to grow !

cravingformilk Thu 17-Jan-13 19:47:30

Evening all, had such a busy day today that I've barely had time to think about being pregnant. Had to put in my special request for absence form today (3rd one in a week) and when I got pulled in about it I just told them I had a gyne apt which is technically true. I'm off for my repeat bloods tomorrow and don't really want work to know just yet as I have about 4 line manages who will get told and to be frank I don't trust a couple of them not to discuss it further.

Watching the snow fall with interest as DC school loves to close at the sight of a snowflake!

Wish me luck for tomorrow and hope everyone is well smile

Marking place and sorry to hear that jmf

CatPussRoastingOnAnOpenFire Thu 17-Jan-13 20:23:06

I'm here...
Had a nice couple of days with the family. They are all being lovely. I've been working today, (market trader) it's been -10! The cold has been MURDER on my poor sore norks! Back home now and exhausted! I've just told dd13 that the baby needs a cup of tea! wink

CatPussRoastingOnAnOpenFire Thu 17-Jan-13 20:23:54

I'm so sorry JMF. {{hug}}

SGJ Thu 17-Jan-13 21:12:53

Oh, jmf, I'm so sorry, what sad news. But what a gem your DH is, sounds like you'll be well looked after through it all. Hugs.

SGJ Thu 17-Jan-13 21:19:30

I'm a bit of an emotional wreck tonight, had 4 evenings of bedtime routine on my own this week so far, lovely when sickness seems to come on as soon as I step through the front door, and DH finally wandered in at 8.30pm (he'd had a bad day so 'needed' to stop by the pub on the way home), picked up his dinner and proceeded to change the channel and watch f'ing Mission Impossible. Grrrrrrrr....
In all honesty he's usually lovely, and he does have a difficult job and is really busy at the moment, but I had to tell him to just STOP TALKING TO ME! Getting some odd looks now but at least he's sensibly being quiet!

CatPussRoastingOnAnOpenFire Thu 17-Jan-13 21:54:29

Well I'm in bed! I'm usually a night owl, but tonight im totally knackered! Being outside really wears out! I'm lying here reading and listening to the snow hitting the window. It's very cosy!
I'm feeling really content right now. Everything is just so lovely. I'm really hoping it lasts! (Fingers crossed)

hackneybird Thu 17-Jan-13 23:17:39

Thinking of you JMF xx

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers Thu 17-Jan-13 23:33:24

I'm so sorry to hear about your news jmf. Take care.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers Thu 17-Jan-13 23:36:08

Apparently I've lost weight, everyone at work has been saying so.
Morning all day sickness, not that I can say it.

Schmidgekin Fri 18-Jan-13 00:35:03

Hello ladies, my sympathies and luck for the future to you jmf .what a wonderful supportive group of ladies ...Room for one more ?

Having been TTC for the guts of a year ,we took our doctors advise to take a break from the stress of it all, saved our money and our holidays and headed to spend a month on the otherside of the world seeing some good friends and hopefully taking our minds off everything.
Santa Claus came early to Bali, delivering our first ever BFP on Christmas morning !Since then our travels have been a complete blur- I'm not sure how much of all of this I'll remember when we get home .I make due date Sep 1st, but other than emails with our wonderful GP- we haven't seen any doctors or anything .... Which is freaking me out .Luckily the first friends we stayed with in Oz guessed straight away (they have a 10 month old and are 5months gone on their second ) so both the advise and the prenatal supplements were in good supply . Other than having to buy a sports bra to sleep in and feeling sick as a small hospital constantly - it's still feeling very surreal.

I'm terrified that the whole thing has been something that's true while on holiday- but will simply evaporate as soon as the plane lands next week ! Irrational , I know, hoping it'll feel more real in the (very) cold light of day when we're back next week. If I can ask if someone can kindly add me in ( laptop free trip ) . I live in north west London. BFP glorious christmas morning ..First pregnancy, 37 and EDD Sep 1st. Congrats to all - Looking forward to sticking around and going the course with all of you.

Eeeknumber3 Fri 18-Jan-13 08:00:55

So sorry jmf, I hope it happens really soon for you.

Added myself to the list below.

I feel a bit like death this morning! Been up since 6am with DD moaning at me. Was secretly praying infant school would be shut, but had a text to say it was open at 7 am, despite all this blinking snow! Now have the joys of persuading a 4 and 6 year old to put all snow gear on, whilst trying not to hurl on the little loves! Have a good day all! Xx

LotsaTuddles Fri 18-Jan-13 08:50:59

<Runs in>

Phew, I thought I'd lost you all for a while then.

Sorry to hear that jmf [hug]

At shitty work again today, the only thing keeping me coming to work is thinking that come August I won't have to do it anymore (thinking of taking mat leave early and starting at the start of August as doubt I'll be able to commute)

Been a very exciting few weeks in the Tuddles household, we booked the church for our wedding last night (getting married this June, as we wanted to get married before the baby comes)

jemimahpuddleduck Fri 18-Jan-13 10:18:29

Congrats schmidge I'm sure it will all become more real once you are home.

Tuddles that's great you have moved the wedding forward what an exciting year for you all!

All the normal food i eat is making feel so sick so going to have to do a shop tonight. I usually eat really healthily just because I love healthy food and fruit and veg but all I want his really bland food now hoping it will only last 1st trimester and I can get back to my normal diet ASAP. Am still managing my exercise three times a week so hoping that will continue for a while longer.

I suppose I just have to listen to what my body tells me.

jm233 Fri 18-Jan-13 10:32:56

My body is telling me it wants Taramasalata confused

jemimahpuddleduck Fri 18-Jan-13 10:42:04

Have you had any? Mine wants fish fingers confused

Creamtea1 Fri 18-Jan-13 10:44:46

Mine seems to want cheese!
7+1 and I've put on 1lb so far, and am attributing that to Xmas anyway!

jemimahpuddleduck Fri 18-Jan-13 10:51:09

I could get on board with cheese too!

1lb is great I put on 4lbs over Xmas so hoping won't put on much in the next few weeks to try and even it out a bit.

jennimoo Fri 18-Jan-13 10:51:24

Sorry to hear your news jmf sad

I seem to crave all different things at different times. And I don't expect my asda online shop will arrive this pm...

More annoyingly my private scan is booked for tomorrow morning so not sure ill be able to get there. At least they didn't take a deposit! Initially I was going to book for yesterday and really wish I had now sad

All I can face is toast & toasted muffins right now....so nauseous! Went to the docs today & got my booking in appointment sorted for when I get back from Bali. Still lots of issues around whether or not to take anti-malarials....and the fact that a couple of my jabs are out of date but I guess I'll just have to wing it! Have cleared it with hubby that I can tell my mum now, which is a relief as my mum's a health visitor so should be quite helpful on the end of a phone. Mother in Law is arriving today....she makes me nauseous even when I'm not preggers so I think this wknd could be a struggle!

Eeeknumber3 Fri 18-Jan-13 10:56:33

Oh gosh, I am starving, just had to have a 2 slice of cheese on toast with marmite! I put on a huge 4 stone with ds1, but then I lost it and went back down to a 14 before our wedding a year after he was born! Then got pregnant with DD1 on honeymoon and put on 2.5 stone with her, but never really managed to lose that, so am starting out as a 16-18 this time...eek, must eat healthy stuff in small amounts! I only eat healthy stuff, but lots of it! Maybe it will be counteracted by having given up my evening wine?! Is everyone starving!? Xx

Creamtea1 Fri 18-Jan-13 10:57:07

grin re mother in law readytosettle

I have other cravings (wham bars anyone?) but cheese is the fave. Oh and curry but that's normal for me!

Creamtea1 Fri 18-Jan-13 10:58:30

Yes permanently starving eek
Trying to curb loads of eating with tea and hot chocolate

Eeeknumber3 Fri 18-Jan-13 11:06:26

Hiya Readytosettle - I went to India on atrip round northern India when I was 8-10 weeks pregnant with ds1, first pregnancy. I was so nervous, but it had been booked for ages and it was the trip of a lifetime with family, so I didn't feel I could let everyone down. Gp assured me all would be well. The smells were not good for my sickness and didn't eat curry for a while! I had ordered malarone to take, but couldn't have it as it was classified as not safe in pregnancy or risk unknown, so I had the one where you take two drugs, acyclovir and palaquin? Can't remember he brand name, but I was absolutely fine on it and DS1 was born a healthy 9lb, unaware of his trip round India. Also preggypops helped me when I felt sick on hols, they were from eBay, just boiled sweets really with high sugar, but very effective! X

Eeeknumber3 Fri 18-Jan-13 11:10:17

Sorry it was paludrine and avloclor I took xxx

LexyMa Fri 18-Jan-13 11:16:57

Well I am the opposite, I seem to have been losing appetite. Managed a big bowl of soup that DH presented me with last night, so maybe it is not poor appetite but cantbearsedness in the evenings...

Next person to do the list please remember to take ladies off as they sadly have to leave us, jmf is still on there for example.

Maybe we should have a new sign in each thread in case ppl have left quietly?

jemimahpuddleduck Fri 18-Jan-13 11:20:18

I was thinking that myself Lexyma there arsoakot of ladies on the original list that haven't posted for a while.

To start us off ....

Jemimahpuddleduck 25 BFP New Years Day EDD 15/09/13 DC1

jemimahpuddleduck Fri 18-Jan-13 11:21:10

alot no idea what my phone thought I was trying to type!

jm233 Fri 18-Jan-13 11:24:51

That's a good idea Lexy- there are so many people who have gone quiet!

Yeah I had some Taramasalata yesterday. I felt like a baby criminal but I could literally not stop thinking about it. And now it's all gone blush...

According to my scales I lost weight- just under a kilo. Has that happened to anyone? I'm hoping that's its just the going from christmas diet to healthy baby diet (taramasalata excluded). I have my early scan a week today, I really can't wait to be able to put my mind at ease!

CatPussRoastingOnAnOpenFire Fri 18-Jan-13 11:39:45

I've lost a little, but being a coward, I don't weigh myself, so I don't know how much. My trousers do feel righ today though, although I do have 2 sets of thermals on underneath, so that might not be helping! grin

Babyboo79 Fri 18-Jan-13 11:52:01

I'm still here! I'm really struggling with food and all I can face eating is toast & marmite! I couldn't understand it till DH read yesterday that it contained folic acid.....finally makes sense!

I'm worried that I'm only 5+4 and still have 8 months to navigate 3 meals a day!

I haven't dared to weigh myself yet, but will probably brave the scales tomorrow.

Daisy299 Fri 18-Jan-13 11:55:45

I always eat low carb normally, but have had to give in to the nausea and start eating carbs in the past week to settle my stomach. Have had to absolutely stuff myself with carbs and sugar today just to be able to work. Ugh. Hopefully I won't have to do that for too long.

jennimoo Fri 18-Jan-13 11:56:34

Marmite on toast is one I keep craving. Think bits the salt. But then sometimes it's toast and jam as craving sugar. Don't say that means there's one of each in there...

loubeebaby Fri 18-Jan-13 11:59:53

Lolol! Marmite craver here too! I HAVE to eat carbs otherwise my nausea just doesnt tone down. Tryed eating my normal fruit and yoghurt in the mornings but it just wasnt cutting it! Marmite is the one!!

jemimahpuddleduck Fri 18-Jan-13 12:11:51

So glad I'm not the only one having to stray from their normal eating my shopping list is full of carbs, it is the only thing that doesn't make me feel ill, haven't craved marmite yet though.

jennimoo Fri 18-Jan-13 12:29:34

Shopping list here is bread, bagels, crumpets and lots of margarine for them all! I did this last time, it was toast all through until I got back from hospital with DD and then back to my normal cereal.

Daisy299 Fri 18-Jan-13 13:29:27

Just went to change my online shopping order and the cut-off was 11.45am sad
Going to have a fridge full of salad and eggs when all I can eat is cake and toast!

LexyMa Fri 18-Jan-13 14:12:28

Got any flour? Could make cake with those eggs...

CatPussRoastingOnAnOpenFire Fri 18-Jan-13 14:22:42

I'm feeling really rough today. Been out shopping with mum and gran. I feel queasy, and so tired I can barely stand! We stopped for lunch and I had a chip Butty. I'm a real pig usually, I can stuff myself all day long. But at the moment, food just leaves me cold! I was walking round Morrisons and my brain was saying "Ooooh, trifle, biscuits, sandwiches, cake..." And my stomach was saying "not likely!" It is a very odd sensation for someone who is usually such a foodie! sad

Babyboo79 Fri 18-Jan-13 14:38:15

I know the feeling! It's a bit depressing really. I used to love cooking, especially with DH at the weekend. Now I can't bear to be in the kitchen.

I never imagined that the thought of wine would turn my stomach either!

In other news, I feel like an elephant! Constipated to all hell and swollen tummy with it! D'oh!

andadietcoke Fri 18-Jan-13 14:43:57

I can never work out if I'm hungry or nauseous or a combination of both!
My legs are killing me, and one boob, so have to sleep on my back or right hand side.

I went to see my friend's 5 day old baby last night. He was so tiny, and I now feel a bit panicked. DH didn't want anything to do with him, and I can't imagine him with a baby, freaked me out a bit.

I've got my first night out since finding out I was pg tomorrow night. Just a Chinese for a friend's birthday and am going to go with the January detox excuse I think!

Thanks eek that makes me feel loads better....seriously the nurse had such a freak out on Weds that it's really taken all the fun out of my holiday planning. I might look into the anti malarials u mentioned....Bali's low risk for malaria but we're going to the gili's & there seems to be conflicting advice for there.

I've just been to JS....my shopping basket contained: bread, muffins, rolls & hot cross buns....oh and lots of ginger tea & ginger yoghurt!!

andadietcoke we're away with the family this weekend. Hubbies not going to drink either & we're going to tell people we're doing the dryathlon ;-)

frogchops Fri 18-Jan-13 15:02:13

While we're talking about the list, whoever does a new one (I'm on the fone!) can you add me back on please?? I was on but now I'm not. Unless someone knows something I don't??confusedsad bfp 15/1 Edd 22/9

SGJ Fri 18-Jan-13 15:05:07

Another one here only wanting carbs, just like in my first pregnancy, only difference is that I'm not 'happy' after eating it, I just don't feel right - unlike 1st pg. Does this mean it's a boy this time round?!

swaye Fri 18-Jan-13 15:14:57

Pretty sure my cat knows im pregnant. Has been cuddling close every time i sit down, is happy to sit on my blanket (im freezing!!) by my side in a small gap instead of a lap,...he has never done that before no matter how much ive wanted him too. So so cute brings a lump to my throat. But quiet honestly most things are doing that including DH being super attentive and supportive esp. Whilst walking in the snow, oh welling up again lol.

CarrieJayne Fri 18-Jan-13 15:33:04

Hi ladies, just marking my place! Anyone else snowed in??

HettySunshine Fri 18-Jan-13 15:36:25

My DP told his boss today. His boss then confided that his wife is due on the same day as me! There are only three of them in their dept and the third is a sort of long term temp.

The Head is not going to be happy! wink

I've got the afty off today so i'm curled up on the sofa with my cat (she isn't any more interested in me than normal though) watching the snow. It's nice to be doing nothing.

Creamtea1 Fri 18-Jan-13 16:02:03

Snowed in here!
I usually eat low carb too and have been trying to continue that way, problem is have been wanting toast/bread to feel better. But I literally look at a carb and put on weight, and I am very paranoid/conscious about putting on weight - I put on 4 stone last time. My aim was to get to 12 weeks with no weight gain, it's going to be hard!

fl0b0t Fri 18-Jan-13 16:22:19

Enjoying the snow smile

Ps- is this the point at which we're supposed to stop watching "One Born Every Minute"? I'm still thoroughly enjoying it! It's taught me that whatever your plan, you have to do the best for your baby. Oh, and no matter how lovely, you will want to punch your OH, they got bored, and misbehave smile

Creamtea1 Fri 18-Jan-13 16:47:32

flobot I stopped watching one born every minute about a month before I had dc1 and never watched again!

I couldn't watch one born every minute last pregnancy but really enjoyed it on maternity. It snowed here today and I took the day off as DDs nursery closed. I'm sooooooo tired. I slept for an hour in the afternoon and I'm still yawning atm. Is everyone just having nauseousness and not tiredness?

DD slept from 1 till 4. Bless her. Only reason I got I lie in. I don know how I survived the work days hmm

I love one born! I always find it very re-assuring....except for this week when they didn't have enough midwives to go around!!

One I'm just nauseous, no tiredness (other than the norm for a Friday night!). I'm tired of feeling sick if that counts?!

jennimoo Fri 18-Jan-13 17:38:43

I'm exhausted, slept for 1.5h this afternoon, same as DD!

CatPussRoastingOnAnOpenFire Fri 18-Jan-13 18:15:34

<<TMI ALERT>> sorry!
Ok. Tell me what you think...
Right, for a week or so, I've had very light spotting. Generally bowel movement related. Not enough to make it to my knickers, but definitely there when I wipe. It's like a fresh spot when I go, fading to brown as the day goes on. I do have a cervical erosion, which spots anyway, so I've just been keeping an eye. Today, it's been a little more. Still clean knicks, but more when I wipe, and red most of the day. <<really embarassed to share>> I have no pain, and I'm feeling pretty pregnant still. I have had a slight left sided niggle occasionally, but due to the times and circumstances, had put it down to wind/stretching. I know erosions can be more sensitive due to the hormones of pg, I'm just wishing it would go away. Is this worth getting looked at? Tonight? tomorrow? Nhs direct? I don't even know how to get hold I my local EPAU. Will they do anything? confused

MummyOfPrawn Fri 18-Jan-13 18:15:59

andadietcoke - try not to worry about your husbands reaction. Neither DH nor me ever felt comfortable holding a tiny baby for fear of breaking it / making it cry / or a sudden eruption from either orifice. Neither of us had had much to do with babies but when I gave birth to DC1 he was very hands on, very confident, very relaxed. We both were. I think it's different when it's your own.

HettySunshine Fri 18-Jan-13 18:21:34

CatPuss it sounds like you should get checked out, just to put your mind at rest. Call NHS Direct and tell them what you told us. If they think you do need to go to the walk in place they'll tell you exactly where it is. How's your snow? Will you be able to go if necessary?

Try not too worry, I'm sure you'll both be okay. X

TripleRock Fri 18-Jan-13 18:47:26

Just wanted to let everyone know, I spoke to my MW today and she confirmed what we all knew that Sept is shaping up to be busy!

As a result shes sent off a request for my scan appt today, even though I've not got my booking in until early Feb.

So I should hopefully get my scan on time all being well.

Just thought I'd share in case anyone still waiting for their booking in wanted to try the same

CatPussRoastingOnAnOpenFire Fri 18-Jan-13 19:04:02

I'm not overly worried by the snow. Ill get where I need to be if i need to. Seems to have stopped now, so I am going to bed. Ill reassess the situation in the morning. I've gone all emotional this evening and I think I'm just worrying too much.

CatPuss don't worry about oversharing. That's what MN is for! I think it sounds like something that should be checked out. Even if it just for some reassurance. I'm thinking about the NHS direct too. On my booking in pack, there's a number to call to talk to midwives depending on time of day/week. Do you have something like that? I think maybe a midwives unit will be more knowledgable about pregnancy related stuff.

andadietcoke don't worry about it. We didn't know what to do with a tiny baby either. Have you signed up for antenatal classes yet?

CatPussRoastingOnAnOpenFire Fri 18-Jan-13 19:12:11

Nothing yet. If its still the same tomorrow ill call NHS direct.

Dorita75 Fri 18-Jan-13 19:26:53

Hi, can I join please? Got bfp on 3rd Jan, EDD 13th Sept. I am swinging between excitement and flatness as I had a missed miscarriage this time last year and am currently thinking it's not going to last again. Wasn't sure about joining a thread but realised nothing is going to jinx it, nothing I do can affect how things will go.

So, am monitoring symptoms like a mad woman! Are my boobs still hurting when I run down the stairs? Do I feel sick or is that just being on the bus? I can conclude that boob pain fluctuates and I've definitely been feeling sick this week. I'm 6 weeks today and also need carbs, though the main thing is I need to eat every hour to stop feeling nauseous. Just eaten a homemade cottage pie and am already thinking of my next food intake. I don't care if I put weight on, I need it!!!

Hello to you all smile

andadietcoke Fri 18-Jan-13 19:30:45

Thanks onelittle and MummyOf*. I'm sure we'll be fine.

I've booked antenatal classes with the NCT because they're in our town and I don't know anyone local at all. But...I've been putting off paying for them until I'm sure everything's going to be okay. I have to do it by Sunday I think. In two minds - given how busy September seems, I don't want to lose my place, but I don't want to tempt fate by signing up before I even know if it's a viable pregnancy. Argh.

frogchops Fri 18-Jan-13 19:42:01

Have spoken to the nurse at my surgery today who has reassured me that I'm more at risk of mc from worrying than I am with flying. Feel a but better now.

jm233 Fri 18-Jan-13 19:43:50

CatPuss- from what I've read it seems like spotting is completely normal (as long as it isn't heavy and you aren't in pain), but I can imagine that you are scared out of your wits by that, I know I would be.
When I phoned to book my MW apt I asked what to do in a 'just in case situation'- they told me to either call my MW directly or call the Early Pregnancy Cenre. Do you have something like that where you are?

I go on nights for 2 nights and we need a new thread? Good work ladies!

amidwifecrisis is it busy in your area for the coming sept too? Getting a bit worried now hmm

We're not booking in any more people than normal at the moment, and I don't know of anyone in RL due around sept yet, so not really. Not especially busy.

Cripes, I said the 'B' word shock

CatPussRoastingOnAnOpenFire Fri 18-Jan-13 19:54:18

JM I have no idea. I'm seeing the doctor on Monday to get booked in so I suppose I'll get more info then. Ill have a google In case I need to speak to someone before then.

TripleRock Fri 18-Jan-13 19:56:08

CatPuss sorry you are worried, I hope things are improved in the morning

CatPussRoastingOnAnOpenFire Fri 18-Jan-13 20:01:42

Well the website for my local EPAU is quite interesting. Basically, anything strange going on whatsoever, speak to the GP/midwife. Don't call us! confused I think if anything new develops, in the absence of any kind of midwife contact no, I will just call Nhs direct.

Dorita75 Fri 18-Jan-13 20:24:16

From what you've said catpuss it sounds like erosion, the fact it's been brown but it's a good idea to get checked out for reassurance. Amazing how these worries change your whole mood, sure pregnancy emotions don't help! Take care.

Just had a major fall down the stairs (they're wooden so it really hurt!). Bruised my back & hurt my neck....totally shook me up. Have done a bit of searching & the general concencus is that it won't affect the fetus this early on. But I'm still pretty freaked out. Fx all is ok!

CatPussRoastingOnAnOpenFire Fri 18-Jan-13 20:58:57

Fx Ready. I'm sure everything will be ok. X

BentleyBelly Fri 18-Jan-13 21:05:58

Hello ladies, can I join please? I think I'm due around the end Aug/beginning Sept. Got my BFP on 21st Dec and have been lurking since then as didn't really believe it. I think I'm over the shock now. Turns out my husband is quite a good shot as it was the first month we started ttc and its a honeymoon baby, was conceived in Thailand! I am 30 and its my first. I have been feeling like poo for the last 3 weeks but touch wood have felt a bit better the last couple of days. Can't get enough of crisps or oranges, always seem to have a vile taste in my mouth and they cover it up.
Hope everyone has had a nice day with the snow.
Readytosettle hope you don't feel too sore after your tumble.

jennimoo Fri 18-Jan-13 21:38:43

Hi bentley, got my BFP the same day as you!

Hope you're ok readytosettke sounds painful!

I'm stressing about tomorrow. Supposed to have a scan at 9:20 about 15 mins drive (normally) from home. When I called today at 4 pm there was no reply and website says they don't open til 10am... DH says just go anyway but seems a bit silly when his drive home from work took 90 instead of 20 mins today! I wish I'd booked it for yesterday, was the original plan...

readytosettle I fell down the stairs once holding DD when she was a newborn. Never been so scared in my life! Luckily I was near the bottom so we didn't fall far. I completely shielded her. I'm now always extra careful going down the stairs holding DD. The early days were harder I found as I have to hold her two handed to support her neck. Your bump still has all the cushioning of you, so I'm sure he or she is baking in their fine grin

jm233 Fri 18-Jan-13 21:59:01

Speaking of he and shes- who is going to find out what they're having? I am far too nosey like precision planning to keep it a surprise!

kipsonline Fri 18-Jan-13 22:04:07

Evening all! Just checking in really. Hope you make it to the scan ok Jennimoo and that you have arnica handy for your bruises Ready. I fell head/tummy first down my parents stairs when I was 4 months gone with DS1. Terrifying but turned out ok. I did need to have an extra anti d shot though as was rhs neg with rhs pos DH. I had to take my trousers off as soon as I got home tonight and put my baggy pjs on, I def have a mini bump already at 7.5 wks. Eeek. I have just hauled my bag of mat clothes out of the loft in response but they look huge, I guess the result of having been worn for my 2 huge bumps and lent out to friends too as not expecting to need them again .... Shopping opp soon??? Bring it on!!

CatPussRoastingOnAnOpenFire Fri 18-Jan-13 22:18:44

JM not me! There's nothing like that moment when you discover the sex of your newborn! It's going to be part of my birth plan god willing that DP be the first to look.

PinkApple86 Fri 18-Jan-13 22:28:09

Hello all, got my first BFP today. Still in shock (good shock) so please add me to the list.
Pinkapple86, 26, bfp 17th Jan, edd ? Irregular AF so I think will be in sept. Best wishes to all.

Creamtea1 Fri 18-Jan-13 23:10:39

jm not me for finding out either! Part of the magic (or distraction from the pain) of finding out on their arrival. Also have 2 ds already and no way am I giving anyone the opportunity of saying its because I want a girl..

SGJ Fri 18-Jan-13 23:27:04

We won't find out, didn't with DD either. For me, finding out at birth is all part of the surreal experience of having a baby!

ThedementedPenguin Fri 18-Jan-13 23:43:23

Hey everyone, I'm not expecting this year but I had a baby boy on 14th September last year. Was having a nosy through your thread and you've all made me very broody. confused definitely not the right time as ds is only 18 weeks today!

Any way I just want to say congrats to you all, hope you all have a lovely, quiet pregnancy and hope nobody is suffering too badly with morning sickness.

andadietcoke Sat 19-Jan-13 06:25:41

I'm definitely finding out. I'm too much of a planner to leave something like that to chance. However, friend was told she was having a girl and had a boy, so well aware it's not an exact science.

HettySunshine Sat 19-Jan-13 08:06:09

I think we'll also find out. DBIL has already offered to decorate the nursery and it makes sense to me to be able to know which palate to use. Also I'm looking forward to being aw to say 'he' or 'she'.

Never been very good at surprises!

HettySunshine Sat 19-Jan-13 08:06:36

Might find out, will probably be one of those asking the sonography to write it down and not look at it for a few days type of thing.
Don't really care about colours and stuff- everything about clothes and rooms will be primary colours smile.

MrsMc82 Sat 19-Jan-13 08:14:57

Hi Everyone,
So this Must be real as am on a Mumsnet AnteNatal thread!
First month of trying, so DH dissapointed (ha!) But both v excited and terrified in equal measure....excited at another little one (DS is 3 this week) and terrified till make it to ellusive 12weeks and can breath sigh of relief...
Slight concern not feeling sick, just starving, where as was sick at least 5times a day from 4weeks with DS...but know can be different with each pg....

cravingformilk Sat 19-Jan-13 08:16:43

We did find out with DC1 but not to this time. I've experienced knowing in advance and now I want the surprise - although I'm 99.9% sure it will be a boy (just a hunch and DH has a very male dominated family).

swaye Sat 19-Jan-13 08:31:55

MrsMc82 Im not feelin sick either but having sweats at night and freezng in the dayplus little twinges like period pains. Not looking fwd to MS . Im hungry and not hungry at the same time, think this is the swing of wow im gonna be a mum and omg what is happenng!!!

KamikazeeKid Sat 19-Jan-13 08:33:35

Really sorry to read jmf news. Thoughts are with you. Definitely go for it when you feel ready. Take care xx

Well as far as gender reveals. ...I don't want to know. We never found out with DS1 after a sleepless painful week 41 and an emergency caesarean it was THE BEST thing ever finding out then....made all that horrible bit at the end worth it :-) the only part left I could have achieved from birth plan was us finding out not them telling us.

I'll do the same this time :-)

Ive all day nausea but more like hunger pains and regular onsets of ridiculous tiredness. Nipps are a little sore. Im totally different this time round.

I keep getting too scared to think about the future as so worried something will be wrong, I lost at 5 and 7 weeks before. I've already had to have an early scan to rule out ectopic and saw flumps heartbeat but im still worried!

Can someone update me on the list please? Im already on there at bottom just no details....I cant copy onphone - thanks!

Kamikazeekid age 31 Bedfordshire, EDD 12 SEPT DC2

KamikazeeKid Sat 19-Jan-13 08:35:57

I did keep a pregnancy diary last time and glad I did! Its been great reading how things were first time. I was sooooooo sick at 430 pm every day!!

kimjayne Sat 19-Jan-13 09:04:47

we are the first in our friend group to get pregnant, we've still not told anyone (apart from an old friend of mine who lives in Leeds). Trying to keep it from our close friends for at least a few more weeks. But for some reason this last week or so, its like im wearing an 'Im pregnant' sign on my head! Everyones asking us if we have and news? One friend (male) just came out with "I bet you're pregnant now arent you" ... totally out of tgeh blue! Having kids isn't even something we discuss with ffriends that often. On top of that I've also had my business review at work this week. Part way through it my boss suddenly came out with "if you ever need to take some "time out" .... you know! for family time... then we are prepared"!
This is our first so maybe im just really crap at hiding my excicement ... or maybe they have noticed my rushed bathroom visits every few hours!? Who knows. At least its make me feel more confident about telling my boss. smile

I hope everyone has a lovely Saturday!

jennimoo Sat 19-Jan-13 10:03:32

Made it to the scan despite DD being up sick in the night. Had to go by myself but glad I went as all well, strong heartbeat, and measuring a few days bigger than dates!

CharlW1 Sat 19-Jan-13 10:22:06

Glad I've found the group again! I have my first early scan on Tuesday - just hope it's good news but feeling very nervous about it.
Have had lots of clumsy moments this week - including knocking a picture off a wall with my bag in a restaurant - cue everyone looking at me to see what was going on and the owner asking if I was hurt!

jm233 Sat 19-Jan-13 10:29:26

Jenni that's fab, such good news!

TripleRock Sat 19-Jan-13 11:15:26

Well done Jenni!

CatPussRoastingOnAnOpenFire Sat 19-Jan-13 11:37:43

smile well my spotting has calmed down again. Still there but just a tiny amount again. I've got GP first thing Monday, so ill speak to her then.
I'm having great fun here today, driving my teenagers mad. Ds16 is currently making the baby a cup of tea! Ds13 did the drying up 'for the baby'!...
I'm really going to enjoy being pregnant! grin

MeanMrsMustard Sat 19-Jan-13 11:54:40

Morning all
Today is my booking in appointment. Is it bad I'm really excited?

I'm 8+6 today. My scan is exactly a month away and I'm still deliberating whether to get a private one first. A month feels like a very long wait! I was certain i'd get an early scan but I have more pregnancy symptoms now so I'm feeling less on edge. But then again, every time I read on here that someone has seen a heartbeat I wish it were me. (congrats jenni! Very jealous)
Are a lot of you having private scans?

I've been feeling pretty sick this week. Eating makes it go away, but I suddenly get too full and feel sick in a different way. I am eating a lot of cold meat, bread, mango and twister ice lollies.

Sounds like we have some good news this morning. jennimoo saw a heartbeat and catpuss's spotting seems to be getting better.

I couldn't get into my jeans this morning sad DH sensitively said 'are you that big already'!! It's only 6 weeks, so I'm in shock a bit. I didn't really have a bump till 20 weeks last time!

CatPussRoastingOnAnOpenFire Sat 19-Jan-13 12:22:13

Yes. Today is going to be a good day! smile

LexyMa Sat 19-Jan-13 13:20:33

We didn't have any extra scans first time around but we did hear the heartbeat on a doppler thingy at the booking in appt which was about 10w. Made a half decent recording on mobile phone which we then played to grandparents-to-be.

if I do anything private this time it is likely to be booking an independent midwife. As I'm working on the assumption I am low risk, and our early-days anecdotal 'evidence' (!) indicates Watford General is going to be super busy in Sept... I think paying for an IM will reassure me that I'll get continuous care and the birth I want. I wish it was that way as standard for everyone but I will try not to let my guilt at being able to pay get so much that I start wearing hemp bras or something...!

LexyMa how do you start looking for an independent midwife? I'm thinking of a doula for the same reason, continuous care (or even just some care). Would like to see what's the price difference between a doula and an independent midwife.

Creamtea1 Sat 19-Jan-13 14:37:09

Arrgh I've clicked hide when I meant to click flip! Anyone know how to in hide?

Creamtea1 Sat 19-Jan-13 14:37:35

Unhide I mean! Bloody iPhone!

LexyMa Sat 19-Jan-13 14:42:12

Well there is a postcode-based search on www.independentmidwives.org.uk/ but it looks like there are sometimes two or three MWs at some of the map pins so they are not necessarily indicating an exact home address (I wouldn't really expect them to I suppose). I don't know the equivalent organisation for Doulas. I am going to need to find a way of asking at my booking in appt that doesn't risk getting the community MW's back up. I want to know when is the best time to start the IM relationship- it will be of most value I think if I get the home birth I want but also for examining me and picking best moment to go to hosp and advocating for me there.

jennimoo Sat 19-Jan-13 14:54:49

Cream tea - I did that a while back. Think you need to go to the desktop site and in your options at the bottom of a page it lists the threads you e hidden and you can choose to unhide.

kipsonline Sat 19-Jan-13 15:30:42

We won't be finding out the colour either, for exactly the same reasons as Creamtea

KamikazeeKid Sat 19-Jan-13 15:37:45

Meanmrsmustard I had to have an NHS early scan this time and last but I did pay £100 at week 9 as I went to Thailand and wanted to know things were ok before I left....I remember as I was worrying all the tine it was the best £100 I ever spent!!! My next scan wasnt until my return at 13+3!!
Whoever was worried about travelling, I did Thailand with several domestic flights out there at 10 weeks until 13 weeks.
I also did Egypt at 27 weeks.

Id only be concerned if you were having difficulties with the pregnancy. Enjoy it, be the last easy holiday you ever take ha ha!

But be warned holiday heat will affect you much more in your pregnant state!! [shudders at memories if passing out on random man in ko san road]

Cacks81 Sat 19-Jan-13 15:50:42

Wow! I missed the move here. Just getting to grips with MN. Spend too much time reading everything on here!

Just to say, this will be DC1, not 2. Ta.

We told our parents this week. Such an amazing moment. My mum is clucking away!

They did mention one thing that was interesting and I wondered if anyone had any info about. Twins run in my mum's family and when she found out she was pregnant with twins, the midwife asked if they had taken out insurance against it! Apparently some insurers will offer you twin insurance and pay out to cover the extra costs. When I looked, it's mighty expensive as there is a history of twins. Had anyone done this or know someone who has? I laughed when they said it, but trust me, they wished they had had it.

andadietcoke Sat 19-Jan-13 15:54:39

Hello! Well, I've completely freaked myself out today, so I'm hoping today's good luck for this thread will apply to me too! Went for a lovely walk with DH into the village and when I came back I had the tiniest amount of brown spotting. Nothing since, and I hope it's just down to 'unusual' exercise as I usually do bugger all

No aches and pains, well, nothing different anyway. Somewhere between 6+5 and 6+2!

Creamtea1 Sat 19-Jan-13 16:08:52

smile kips it really gets my back up! Also a reason why I'm not that excited about telling my mum - she 'only wants another grandchild if it's a pink one'
biscuit

Hi guys, is anyone experiencing really sharp pains? I'm out and about today and every few minutes I'm getting this excruciating stabbing pain...it only lasts for a second but makes me double over and pull the most awful face....I think the family must think I'm going crazy as we haven't told them whats going on, but it's so strong I can't control my reaction to it!

andadietcoke Sat 19-Jan-13 16:24:35

Ready yep, I've had that on and off. Normally in the car on the way home from work. I've put it down to gas because it normally sorts itself out, erm, naturally.

jennimoo Sat 19-Jan-13 16:35:16

I've had some bad low down pains and it also seemed to be gas in the end...

We'll probably find out what flavour. We did with DD and was lovely to call the bump a she. Having a newborn was enough of a surprise, even after 9 months preparing!

Whyriskit Sat 19-Jan-13 16:46:05

I'm planning to find out the sex. Because we already have two boys I'll then know whether to keep all the old clothes or ebay them smile

Rosyisgonnabeamummy Sat 19-Jan-13 16:57:23

Hi girls. I've followed you over

I have something I'd like to confess. It's not something I am comfortable talking about in rw due to fear of being seen as ungrateful.

We weren't expecting to fall preggers, and I had made plans for this year to be MY year. We were married in 2011 and shortly after I developed a very deep depression, resulting in almost 9 months off work. I started back at work last June and I also got a horse on loan. And I started sea swimming in summer too with some very inspirational people. My aims for this year were to do dressage comps with the horse and complete a triathlon.

Hubby is not keen to let me ride now I have precious cargo. And getting fit enough to do a triathlon isn't going to happen either especially as I can't run 50m or stay upright on a bike

Work is shit. We are under staffed and under enormous pressure. My hobbies are what keeps my depression under control.

I feel that I'm being unreasonable in being disappointed I'm preggers. Of course I want a baby, and I know in sept I can do all the above once again.

My other unreasonable fears are that my hubby will dominate all consultations with the midwife. That they will discharge me off the ward before I'm ready. And that I won't manage being a mum. In deep depression I often forgot to feed dogs / cats/ chickens. How on earth am I going to be a mum??????

fl0b0t Sat 19-Jan-13 17:45:12

Rosy- everyone has fears and things they will now not be able to do- I've got three best friends weddings and hen-dos this year all of which I will now be attending without drinking and looking like a whale! Definitely speak to your GP if you're worried as it seems you have a lot on, and depression during pregnancy can definitely make it feel very scary. You might not be able to do many of the things you planned this year, but you can still keep your fitness, so don't worry about that. I hope things work out.

ION I also have lots of tightening across my lower abdomen when coughing/sneezing (sometimes painful) and also getting a stitch and gentle pain in my abdomen when walking fast. I am quite fit so it's a bit annoying, but I'm listening to my body. I also had my first bit of nausea today (even though the books told me I won't experience that yet). I hope I'm not making symptoms up!

I did say to my OH the other day "If I didn't know I was pregnant, I wonder what I'd attribute all these strange feelings to?".

Also, not finding out (hate the pink/blue thing, love surprises) if possible smile

georgie22 Sat 19-Jan-13 19:48:02

jmf - sorry to hear your news. Hope you're being well cared for.

Weather not been good here - have felt more nervous driving and walking. Think we will book a private scan before the 12 week scan; we had one last time and it did make things more real and provided some reassurance. Had a strangely symptom free day today - fleeting nausea this afternoon. Craving Bottlegreen cordial and sparkling water just like last time.

Won't be finding out the sex - didn't last time and liked the surprise. Made sure it was dh who told me what we'd had rather than the midwife though and will do that again. Nursery neutral anyway so won't need to change that.

Enjoy the weekend everyone.

PurplePoppySeed Sat 19-Jan-13 20:10:05

Hello - is it too late to join?

I started to lurk on the first September thread when I thought I was pregnant at the end of December, but I gave up hope until I got a very very faint BFP on a first response 8th Jan, obvious BFP on the 11th. I had a MMC in Early Nov so I'm petrified this won't work out (mildly irrational I know).

I'm 31, EDD 12th Sept with DC1, though I think I prob ovulated late so who knows!

It's amazing how many ppl are due in September! Hoping to catch up with you all now I can start to get excited!

MrsMc82 Sat 19-Jan-13 20:11:34

Rosy - I've also suffered from depression last year, been on meds since ds was 9mo (he's 3 next week!), tried coming off them a few times, with a view to ttc dc2 but got poorly again after fully coming off them in July, was off for 2months from Sept he v short hours so i'm only just properly back at work before xmas....and still on meds....... so youre not alone. Some of the anxiety youre feeling is totally normal for any expectant mum no matter what their mental health is like so don't be too hard on yourself..... x

frogchops Sat 19-Jan-13 20:21:48

Georgie.... I'm desperate for bottlegreen too....and sparkling elderflower!

swaye Sat 19-Jan-13 22:46:07

Rosy i hear you hun (hugs) im right there with you. Ive just had a big wobble about what i wont be able to do (the things that keep me sane) i cycle lots and im having irrational thoughts about NEVER being able to cycle again. I draw portraits too and im thinking i will never have the time to draw again. We have only been ttc 1month and tbh we both suspected that we couldnt have kids for various reasons so it is a big shock but we are both pleased. I had a chat with my DH and he helped me rationalise it. Im still wobbly but it did help a bit. Can you talk to anyone? Xxx

swaye Sat 19-Jan-13 23:16:48

Rosy, i just started this thread about exercise which may help u too http://www.mumsnet.com/Talk/big_slim_whatever_weight_loss_club/1663627-Exercise-whilst-PG-whats-the-deal

Rosyisgonnabeamummy Sat 19-Jan-13 23:27:13

I'm so touched by your supporting comments. Thanks wine cheers (shlurr obv!)

My gp is fantastic. And I have a couple of girl friends who are fairly grounded. It's the fear of being seen as ungrateful. . . Although tonight I have been researching bamboo nappies so I am a bit excited. Up down up down!!!!

Did anyone watch borgan?? I'm blaming hormones on my tears!

CatPussRoastingOnAnOpenFire Sat 19-Jan-13 23:51:51

Rosie I think we all do the same thing. I've spent the last 10 years obsessing about another baby. I have been broody as hell for a decade. I spent the first week after my BFP worried to death that I might lose the baby, and I am STILL worrying about how we will manage/what was that twinge/why dont i feel sick enough/oh shit what did we do! In a month or two it will be Why isn't it kicking/wtf are these braxton hicks/I've changed my mind I don't want to go through labour/FFS I can't believe I'm overdue AGAIN... And that's before you even HAVE the baby! grin THAT is when you really start worrying and doubting yourself! You are perfectly normal. Worrying is what makes us good parents!
Just wait until its older and it falls off its first pony. grin

SGJ Sat 19-Jan-13 23:57:53

Swaye - google the Weeride Kangaroo, if you enjoy cycling it'll be worth every penny and you'll be able to share your passion with your child, it's much nicer (and more reassuring) than having the child sat behind you!

swaye Sun 20-Jan-13 00:16:31

SGJ. oooooo that looks exciting, i cried (again) !! Thx for sharing that x

CatPuss makes me feel soooo much better that what im feeling is normal x

Rosy im blaming everything on my hormones x

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Sun 20-Jan-13 00:31:53

Right, it's me Catpuss here. I've switched back from my Christmas namechange, and tweaked my proper name slightly. wink just so you don't think I'm some mad interloper!

lexyma thanks for the link. The equivalent doula one is doula.org.uk, if anyone is interested.

I got some spotting today. Am a bit worried but I will wait till Monday to call the surgery midwife. I looked at my info sheet and the after hours contact is for emergency only. Searching on the thread, it seems I'm number 3 to have spotting. It isn't a lot. I wiped one tissue with a little bit of red, and the panty liner is slightly watery pink.

andadietcoke Sun 20-Jan-13 07:05:36

onelittle I know how terrifying it is, and didn't want to leave this unanswered. Don't Google, please. It completely unhinged me when the spotting started last time.
No cramping/pain is a good sign if you don't have that.
Get through the next 24 hours and see how you go. I'm sure we'll all be here to keep you sane (and away from google!) xx

No cramping at at all andadietcoke. I am resisting googling except reading the NHS page on it. I like how the NHS says spotting is normal. And then say 1 in 5 pregnancies end in mc! That statistics sounds really scary. Is it real? It's much more common then I think.

Wibblytummy Sun 20-Jan-13 07:57:00

Ahh I went down with the flu for a few days and we've moved boards! Hope all are feeling well and getting the symptoms that reassure/comfort you. Aside from this ruddy flu I've still been getting these AF like cramps. Getting them most evenings around 5pm, it is beginning to freak me out. That and I lost 4lb in a week from vomitting/nausea then my hunger came back big style and 4lb has well and truly returned... Should I be freaking out about loss of sickness? Ahh confused I. Must. Not. Google. It.

jm233 Sun 20-Jan-13 08:23:57

OneLittle- That stat really winds me up and i dont know why they keep using it. it is technically correct, but it takes into accont literally all pregnancies out there, for example pregnancies that ended before the mother even knew they started (fertilised egg that never implanted and so just ended in a 'period'). If you take all factors into account the chances become quite a bit slimmer, so don't worry too much about it!

Is anyone using tums/ similar? I have so much chaos in my belly and it is rock hard, but none of the tummy settlers I have at home say anything about pregnant ladies!

jm they really include those that failed to implant? How did they collect that statistic? I thought it is from all the pregnancies registered with the NHS only. Because the NHS, if they really want to you, should be able to find out how many registered pregnancies ended up as miscarriages, shouldn't it? If it is from that number we got 1 in 5, that's what I think of as quite unsettling. I don't think anyone registered until they are until 5-6 weeks isn't it?

Onesliceortwo Sun 20-Jan-13 08:57:49

Space for one more?! Very excited, but slightly surprised! BFP 19/01 EDD 28/09 This'll be DC number 2 - eek!!

jm233 Sun 20-Jan-13 09:03:55

Someone may correct me on that, but like you, I read that stat before and had an absolute freak out. I then read somewhere that that is what they do, which made me feel a million times better!

jennimoo Sun 20-Jan-13 09:16:51

I'm sure the stats I read we're for known pregnancies, so includes chemical pregnancies, but not only ones which are registered.

PurplePoppySeed Sun 20-Jan-13 09:43:39

Wow, I've managed to read back and catch up, so sorry to those who are already off the bus and to anyone worrying - I would agree about not googling. I had a MMC in November and I was given the same stats - they really are for known pregnancies. I've been very open about it and found soooo many people have been through it that I never knew! I only now believe the figures. However - reading about it will make you worry for no reason as there are also loads of people who spot and bleed throughout pregnancy. The best advice I've had is if you feel yourself stressing about things, go lie down and read a book, or if at work make yourself busy. Easier said than done I know!

andadietcoke Sun 20-Jan-13 10:28:05

The stats improve with every week though. 6 weeks is a big milestone, and then again when you see a heartbeat. I'm taking every week at a time for that reason (and planning a private scan for about ten days time if I get that far)

badguider Sun 20-Jan-13 10:59:03

The stats on the NHS website for miscarriage are 1 in 10 for mothers under 30 and 1 in 5 for mothers 35-39 (so i'm guessing that for age 30-35 it's somewhere between).

I am getting my scan a couple of days after 12 weeks - I didn't really understand till I went through this how LONG 12 weeks can be when you're suffering pregnancy symptoms but still not sure if you'll actually have a baby.

I had hoped that I could continue as normal just thinking 'if we have this baby' then we'll be pleasantly surprised.... but honestly, since about 7weeks with the sickness, the modifying diet, avoiding alcohol and changing sport/exercise habits it's harder to just keep thinking of the pregnancy as a possible nice thing.

I am still running, and cycling, and will be going skiing at about 10wks but I am having to avoid the off-road races I had signed up to (faking a calf strain), and really intense training with my club, and mountainbiking trips to technical stuff where crashing is common, in favour of gentle stuff and volunteering to lead the beginners rides a lot... it's really nothing like 'continuing as normal'.

Hi all, I agree that the nhs stat seems to be fairly true. We've had quite a few friends who've been very open with us about their mc's (they've all gone on to have healthy pregnancys after).

I'd warn against rushing in for early scans as that won't change the outcome & may make you feel more attached...I've had a couple of friends who've had scans at 8 weeks and then gone on to mc. I'm not trying to scare anyone, just being honest. This is why I refer to the foetus/embryo & will do until I'm safely through the 12 week mark!

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Sun 20-Jan-13 11:53:35

Sod that! This is my baby! I'm going to enjoy having a baby in thereno matter what happens! I'm already attached, so calling it a foetus really won't make any difference!

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Sun 20-Jan-13 12:46:23

Although... Is anyone else struggling with constipation? I'm taking 10ml of Lactulose twice a day, drinking for Britain and had a huge plate of roast veg for tea last night and I'm still having trouble going! I feel like I'm backed up to the eyeballs! blush

jm233 Sun 20-Jan-13 13:05:08

Me CatPuss! What is Lactulose? Is it something I can get from boots?

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Sun 20-Jan-13 13:13:37

Yes. It's a stool softener. Tastes like sugar syrup. It's approved in pregnancy. I got mine from Tesco's pharmacy. It does help, a bit!

Creamtea1 Sun 20-Jan-13 13:22:17

And me catpuss
Same as you tried drinking, veg, etc and doesn't help
I'm having issues with weight gain, I'm actively trying not to gain weight and now I've put on a couple of pounds it's getting me down. To maintain my weight before I probably ate about 1200 cals a day (counted carbs not fat) and only ever ate either breakfast or lunch and never both. So now if I eat 3 meals I feel like I'm getting fatter immediately. I worked really hard to lose a quarter of my body weight last year. I know this sounds PATHETIC but I just wanted to tell someone.

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Sun 20-Jan-13 13:35:46

I know what you mean. I'm a big lass, and I'm worried about putting on tonnes of weight. The thing is, there's a reason now. We just need to be sensible and eat healthily. I've cut out fizzy, chocolate and cake. It's killing me, but it's for a good cause. The thing we must remember is that excessive dieting could harm the babies. As women we really need a good 1800 calories a day. You need to be on a weight maintenance diet rather than a weight loss one. If it helps, I know that slimming worlds maintenance programme is generally approved for pregnancy.

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Sun 20-Jan-13 13:36:26

Sorry, too many full stops! blush

jennimoo Sun 20-Jan-13 13:54:57

Constipation is rubbish. Prune juice usually does the trick here but can't face it at the mo. Might have to try lactulose... IIRC it continued like this all through last time and despite drinking prune juice every day at the end still had 'issues' when I went into labour blush

andadietcoke Sun 20-Jan-13 13:58:52

I 'think' I've lost weight, but I'm too scared to get on the scales. My jeans feel bigger, when I'm not bloated and puffy. I can probably put that down to the vast amounts of calories from not drinking alcohol though. Slightly worried I've developed a sweet tooth, when normally I can go for weeks without chocolate/dessert. I'm so scared about my booking in appt and being judged about my weight.

jm233 Sun 20-Jan-13 14:21:13

Has anyone told PIL's/ parents/ general family? Hubby's parents go off on holiday a day before our early scan and don't get back till after our 12wk scan. Kind of feel we should maybe tell them today though as have already had to tell two of our friends due to various circumstances and seems a bit unfair on the in laws not to know? At the same time I'm aware that its not really the done thing...
Can someone take over this pg for me for a while? I need some guidance and my digestive system back!

andadietcoke Sun 20-Jan-13 14:28:41

We've not told anyone. We had to tell my parents last time as were in an all inclusive holiday with them, and I ended up miscarrying on that holiday. I feel very guilty that that's what they'll remember about that trip, and I don't want to put them through anything unnecessarily.

However, we've had other friends tell everyone at 6-7 weeks.

Whatever you do, it's not going to change the outcome of your pregnancy, so do what is right for you.

I told my mum today (on strict instruction that the only person she can tell is my Dad). I just really felt the need to share it with her, I guess because she knows what I'm going through. Also, she's a health visitor so she's very realistic about everything & understands all the risks. We're not telling my MIL as she wouldn't be able to stop herself getting excited....I'm glad that I now have someone to call if it doesn't work out this time.

fl0b0t Sun 20-Jan-13 14:48:06

Catpuss- people told me I'd be constipated but I never thought to this extent. MAking a joke of it with the OH, but it really is amazing. I look about 10 wks pregnant from all the constipation!!

We've told no-one but are thinking about who we want to tell and why and when. We have some pretty big birthday things going on with friends about 1 week before I'll be 12wks and probably before the scan, but thought we might tell our close friends then, but then feel we "should" tell parents first.... :-S ??

jennimoo Sun 20-Jan-13 15:06:23

We told the parents (and DD) yesterday after the scan. They'd got an inkling anyway as was hard to hide the Xmas tiredness and not drinking...

Last time told them at 5 weeks as overexcited and was first grandchild for both families... Not the best decision I now realise, especially as my Mum started knitting there and then...

jennimoo Sun 20-Jan-13 15:08:26

And agree on constipation. That and the bloating mean my work trousers don't fit, have been doing up with a hair band already... And this morning was so 'bunged up' I felt really ill and thought I was coming down with DDs sick bug!

kipsonline Sun 20-Jan-13 15:17:35

We will def wait until after the 12 wk scan, then attempt to tell everyone in strict relationship order(!) With DC1 this worked a treat as he came out of the blue so we had the element of surprise. With DC2 this was an absolute failure as we had been TTC for 18 months and had a failed IUI then conceived naturally the next month, so the world and his wife knew from 6 weeks. This time it will be a complete surprise again as everyone knows DH is dead set against (eek) and I'm fully expecting to hear 'why???' first before congratulations (due to my health issues/risks and already having 2 healthy boys etc).. So am dreading sharing tbh. It is DH 40th around our 12 wk mark so we have the option of doing a grand unveil (!) in front of everyone but I'm not sure I can face it?!? Argh confused

kipsonline Sun 20-Jan-13 15:21:29

Need to confess too. Friend's birthday last night, lovely dinner party. They live in the middle of nowhere so I drove, as my excuse, but did then enjoy a (small) glass of champagne, as hard to turn down, on many levels... Mmm, did I savour those bubbles. Confession over wink

kipsonline Sun 20-Jan-13 15:25:12

Ooh and has everyone got bump bands. Have mine down from loft and remembered how useful they are in early stages when you need to undo your top button but it's too soon for mat clothes. Brilliant. Just looks like a longline vest top to the untrained eye...highly recommend, and cheap grin

andadietcoke Sun 20-Jan-13 15:26:27

Hey kips if you're going to do something, do it properly! Last night at dinner was the first time I fancied some wine. Last time I had a drink though (night before BFP) it made me so feel so sick though.

Yep, I think champagne might be the way to go when I have a drink. High quality, easy to sip, make it last smile

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Sun 20-Jan-13 15:27:54

I've told my mum and step dad, and my three besties. My mum lives next door and would soon catch on anyway, and my besties because they are my support network. If anything happens, they are the people I'd want to help cheer me up. I have also told one or two fairly random work friends because I'm a market trader, often quite a way from home and would like someone nearby who knows what's going on. I know that dp has discussed it with his work colleague, as he was a bit shocked and needed to Talk things through. I'm trying really hard not to tell anyone else, although this seems like a lot of people, we have huge families, who are bloody judgemental so is really very few people.

CarrieJayne Sun 20-Jan-13 15:33:03

We are having a private scan next Thurs so will be telling PIL on Monday if all is well... It's DH birthday and we'll be at his mum's house. Won't get away with not drinking because they all drink like fish as you get a drink thrust in your hand upon entering! Telling my parents Friday.

Agree with you dietcoke, you can't stop a mc but still doesn't stop me worrying! Sorta feels like I might jinx it by telling parents at 8 weeks. Arrrrggghh this pg malarkey is really quite stressful isn't it?!

I've been so busy enjoying ths thread I haven't noticed my puppy eating my new bra, and DH's trainers. Oops shock

TripleRock Sun 20-Jan-13 15:33:30

We've not told anyone at all yet.

We want DD to be the first to know and aren't telling her until we've had the ok from 12 week scan.

After that it will be parents first, then close friends/family, then everyone else. We only see my parents a few times a year and I would love to tell them face to face so we may have to engineer something.

kipsonine and andadietcoke I am really REALLY struggling with the no drinking thing. Don't remember it being this hard last time... I have actually sniffed DH's wine glass on more than one occasion these last few weeks blush

Manoodledo Sun 20-Jan-13 18:05:16

Wish I'd told my mum and then I could have gone there today while DH has been painting. As it is we're not terribly welcome there right now as we've all had a vomiting bug, which my mum is phobic about. I do feel a bit bad even though he has used minimal VOC paints and it wasn't particularly smelly and I've kept myself shut away from it. I'm not really looking forward to telling everyone this time round as they all knew we didn't intend to be having a third. I'm worried they'll be laughing at us for being stupid. Also my Dad's been giving me a row for having no pension at the moment, but as I'm not working we don't really have any money for one. I thought I'd be getting back to work pretty soon, been SAHM (doing freelance work here and there) since DS1 was born 6 years ago.

fl0b0t Sun 20-Jan-13 18:24:04

Drinking not bothering me (was doing dryathlon anyway)- but it's going to be harder to hide in February. I'm considering not leaving the house.

I am getting awful "afternoon" sickness since yesterday- started about 2 and continued to about 5pm yesterday and today it's been niggling since about 11am! I expected it to feel like travel sickness (kind of in the belly) but instead it's right up in my throat! Weirdly most books say that I'm about 2-3 weeks ahead of where my symptoms should be (I'm only 5wks tomorrow).

Bit stressed about travelling too- supposed to be travelling across country by train tomorrow but husband has vetoed it! Being very protective which is nice smile

fl0b0t Sun 20-Jan-13 18:25:22

edit also will be looking forwards to a tiny sip of champagne as my only reward drink wise during pregnancy. I think the British are so worried of our binge drinking culture, the advice all says AVOID- whereas abroad(especially on the continent) they are just very restrained about it all and enjoy a high class glass of something bubbly smile

I'm sorry to pour bad news on this thread. I'm now officially number 2 off the bussad. The spotting turn period like today. I rang the on call midwife and she told me to go to a&e. Long story short, it's confirmed I have miscarriaged. I didn't feel any severe pains at all. But I was already prepared for the worse hen the full on bleeding started late this morning. We will be trying again once this period is over. Who knows I might make it just in time for the November bus.

Good luck to all of you still on the bus.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers Sun 20-Jan-13 18:59:08

Sorry to hear that onelittletoddlingterror.

LexyMa Sun 20-Jan-13 20:22:37

so sorry OLTT. Take care and hope you get your wish soon.

I am having a rubbish few days and it is making me cherish my DH so much. I was supposed to be working from home on Friday (and he did too) but felt awful when I woke up, moped around until 3 and then we went to pick up DS from nursery early (they hadn't closed, we just wanted to take him sledging). I felt better for the walk but it didn't last very long. Saturday was similar, I ended up in bed with a hot water bottle and two wheaties at 8 and didn't get up till 10 this morning. Tried the fresh air thing by taking DS to the shops (roads were fine, centre of Watford blissfully quiet!) but unfortunately developed a migraine and was walking around John Lewis with almost the entire left side of my vision gone, losing balance when getting on/off the escalator. Was slightly worried I looked drunk actually. DS was being an utter treasure though, didn't whinge at all, even when I perused almost every aisle of primark's knickers section trying to find plain cotton bikini style. Also got some cotton crop tops because my norks need support at night time now.

I seem to be having an evening nausea phase about 6-7pm which is right when I usually cook for DS (DH home a bit later). We will be living off freezer portions of curry/stew/bolognese for a while until that subsides.

Purplelooby Sun 20-Jan-13 20:43:32

Oh dear it looks like it's a bad day for the thread, because I'm joining onelittletoddler sad and becoming #3 off the bus.

My spotting turned to bleeding overnight last night and I ended up in the OOH and then A&E this afternoon. I already knew by then, but they confirmed the miscarriage. I also don't have much pain, it's just like a normal period but a bit heavier.

Good luck to everyone on here, I'm off to drink wine

Daisy299 Sun 20-Jan-13 20:47:39

We won't be finding out the gender... even before I was pregnant, we knew we wouldn't. Apart from anything else, I'm not into the gendered clothes thing and I don't want the family to go nuts buying blue/pink.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers Sun 20-Jan-13 20:47:41

Daisy299 Sun 20-Jan-13 20:55:33

Sorry to hear your bad news Purple and OLTT.

Creamtea1, you sound a lot like me - I also did low carb (strict) last year and lost about 3 stone. When I found out I was pregnant, my first thought was that I would pile the weight back on... I had about 3 more to lose!

I did try to continue to eat low carb but I quickly found I was far too nauseous. I'm also vegetarian so my protein sources are very limited... and I can't face anything to do with eggs at the moment. Fairly sure it's better to eat bread and not feel sick than to eat nothing and feel awful.

andadietcoke Sun 20-Jan-13 20:57:39

purplelooby I'm so sorry. Hope you have lots of support (and wine). Take it easy, and take care of yourself xx

Anyone else struggling with symptoms today? I'm finding sitting down really uncomfortable (poss due to increase blood flow down below. Keep having really vivid dreams/nitemares (this morn I fell back to sleep after hubby left for work and was convinced I could hear women's voices on the stairs but I felt completely paralysed I my bed & unable to speak...very strange). I also seem to have afternoon sickness....morning was fine but nausea has now hit big time!

fl0b0t Mon 21-Jan-13 12:32:32

Also suffering afternoon sickness (starts about 11am right through til bed time- though only feeling sick, not been sick at all yet) and had a dream about having twins!

SIL coming to stay with baby in May, and I'm looking forwards to telling her that she doesn't need to bring some of the things she was worried about bringing as we'll have out own by then! smile

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Mon 21-Jan-13 12:34:49

Mine arent too bad. Sore norkage, a little nausea, the constipation is the worst!

I've got a dreadful gut as well, but I've suffered with IBS for years so that's not so strange for me. Boobs are sore, but just the same as pre-AF really. Have switched to a nice soft sports bra today & it's bliss!

Eeeknumber3 Mon 21-Jan-13 13:09:00

I've got foul nausea today, just eaten loads with the kids at lunchtime, as eating seems to stave it off. They're both off school due to the snow, we have 28cms! Finding it hard going entertaining them today, as just knacked. Is anyone else suffering from extreme tiredness? Don't remember ever feeling this tired before!

LotsaTuddles Mon 21-Jan-13 13:19:19

Got my booking in appt on 15th feb. don't think I can wait that long.

I can't believe I was wishing to feel sick. I can't seem to keep anything down for longer than half an hour

CrikeeThree Mon 21-Jan-13 13:27:43

Same. Feeling soooo crap.
Tired and nauseous.
Been sick the last few days.
Felt so sick, I couldn't sleep last night.

Roll on 12 weeks.....

jennimoo Mon 21-Jan-13 13:37:22

I'm feeling pretty rough too and the last two nights have woken in the morning feeling so bad I thought I'd got DDs vomiting bug!

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Mon 21-Jan-13 13:41:29

Im worried again now. Im not feeling too bad! apart from farting for england mind you, judging by my last 2 pregnancies, this could just be because baby is male! sick as a parrot with dd!

LexyMa Mon 21-Jan-13 13:42:31

anyone read this? it seems our watford group isn't just a MN bubble but a known hotspot of the rising uk birth rate! Is anyone else in one of the notably fecund areas they mention?

jm233 Mon 21-Jan-13 13:50:21

I am still living for taramasalata... I don't know what's in it but its the only thing I want! Felt my eyes well up a touch when got to the shop and they were out! Probably for the best.

My dreams have been so strange and disturbing! Last night I dreamt DH had a huge sapphire instead of a belly button. Night before- a friend having a sex change confused

andadietcoke Mon 21-Jan-13 13:56:09

Have had crazy dreams every night too. Unfortunately an ex keeps popping up in them.

I'm nauseous, but erratically so. Seems to come and go, and is largely linked to hunger. I'm hungry all the time though!

So tired too. Just had a sandwich for lunch and now I can barely keep my eyes open. Went to sleep at 9.30 last night. Have a meeting after work at 6pm and think I'm going to really struggle. Just want to be back in bed. Is it only Monday?!

jennimoo Mon 21-Jan-13 13:56:21

Lexyma. I'm not in one of those areas but not sure how I feel at being labelled an 'older mother' as I'm in the 30-34 category!

lexyma very interesting that link. (I'm still lurking here at work. Sorry to hear about you too purple). I'm in one of the hotspots listed in that article. That probably explains my complete lack of care from the NHS last time. I hear friends with a midwife with them all through their birth. And I compared that to mine. No midwife, no one in the midwife station, labour ward overflowed into the antenatal wards. It really doesn't give you confidence, does it? I think you are wise to think about an independent midwife. At least this way, you know someone experienced will be with you at all times.

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Mon 21-Jan-13 13:58:09

Taramasalata is smoked cods roe.

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Mon 21-Jan-13 14:00:00

I think I am classed as a 'geriatric mother'! sad I'm 37!

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Mon 21-Jan-13 14:14:47

[really sad emoticon] I have been worrying about feeling ok, and have just POAS! blush I an happy to confirm it was a BFP! grin
AND... I have no spotting today. grin grin <<victory dance>>

hackneybird Mon 21-Jan-13 14:23:31

catpuss I think I'm the grandma of the group, I'm 39 and when the baby is born (FX) I will be (whispers) 40!

It took me a long time to feel ready to have another, as I have a three year old already.

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Mon 21-Jan-13 14:27:40

Ooh! Another Geriatric! grin <<waves>>
Got any good knitting patterns? wink

LexyMa Mon 21-Jan-13 14:32:34

Ooooffff, I'd glossed over the 'old' bit! I was 30 when I had DS and will be 34 this time. So I suppose I was an older first timer.

Busy hospitals are not fun and I know I want to avoid it. When I got to Northwick Park hosp after 36 hours of first stage contractions they put me out of the way on an antenatal ward, said "we're really busy, there are a lot of ladies delivering just now. The midwife led unit is shut so you'll be on labour ward when you actually get into labour" and I was gutted. But miraculously it had calmed down later that night and just when they agreed that I was in 'proper' labour they decided they had enough staff to reopen the MLU. And it was fabulous from then on.

However, busy hospitals have also "seen it all" and will have hopefully optimised their procedures for dealing with the things that start going off-plan.

Right now I am just concerned about getting a 11-13 week scan though, as I haven't had an acknowledgement of my self referral. I've done another one so we shall see what happens. 7+6 today!

CrikeeThree Mon 21-Jan-13 15:07:21

Another geriatric here! smile I'm 38.

I also live in one of those hotspots.

So I live in one of the busiest areas of the country, and am due to have a baby during a notoriously busy month...!!

Agree that labour ward has been very very busy for last 2 times. First time, they were clearing one of the side rooms on the antenatal ward for me to go into, as there was no room on the delivery suite, and everything happened so quickly. Luckily, they found a space in the end, but I heard about people being turned away and sent to other hospitals that were many miles away.....

Creamtea1 Mon 21-Jan-13 15:13:42

Am I geriatric too? (35) or am I just in a black hole void inbetween 30-34 and over 35? hmm

SpanishLady Mon 21-Jan-13 15:19:14

afternoon,

sending my best wishes to toddler and purple as well.

Ive come here to calm down as have been reading the supermarket fights thread over in AIBU and I cant stand that sort of thing so am getting wound up!

Im 7+1 today - it feels like the slowest 1st trimester - I was sure I was much calmer last time (cue raised eyebrows from DH). I had my booking in appointment on Friday - think she took about a pint of blood.

According to her I wouldnt be classed a geriatric mother - given Im 38 - 39 in May - and she was incredibly scatty (but nice) - I took that with a large pinch of salt.

Still no morning sickness so like cat Im going from being rationale that its just a different pregnancy to being quite anxious.

am convinced there has someone been a mistake and there is no baby.

Zeuxippe Mon 21-Jan-13 15:19:40

Hello, can I join please? Got my BFP yesterday morning, not quite sunk in yet!

Zeuxippe DC2 EDD 25th September

Talking of geriatrics, I'll be 40 on Saturday - eek!!

SpanishLady Mon 21-Jan-13 15:22:04

im one of the watford posse - it was bonkers last time (lights left on all night, nurses forgot my medication, incredibly silly lady in the bed next to me who kept calling the nurses for odd things like toast.... at 2 in the morning (she'd gone back to sleep by the time they brought it).

I think you can get released from prison easier then to get out of the Watford General maternity ward.

KamikazeeKid Mon 21-Jan-13 15:22:58

Tired all the time..,sore nipples and a hunger like nausea but I'm not really hungry. I keep having rather saucy dreams ha ha and hormones are feeling rather like jumping hubby sadly for him my headaches and tiredness are stopping that ;-)
Nauseous all day only sick when changing DS's nappy....
I'm working from home in this snow as really bad roads but looking forward to leaving nappies to the childminder tomorrow! (gag)

SpanishLady Mon 21-Jan-13 15:24:15

Hi Zeuxippe - congrats and welcome!

I can spell/write usually quite well - except here it seems!

rational not rationale
somehow not someone

Yay z! Good to see u joining us :-)

Zeuxippe Mon 21-Jan-13 15:49:38

Thanks ready and spanish lady grin

Sorry to hear some people on this thread have had bad news recently sad

There has been some bad news, but try not to worry about it as it's completely out of our control at this stage....it's even more down to luck than getting the BFP in the first place! I found this helpful:

http://www.nhs.uk/Conditions/Miscarriage/Pages/Causes.aspx

Eeeknumber3 Mon 21-Jan-13 16:28:33

Am I geriatric too, am 36, will be 37 in april! I was a late starter, has ds1 when I was 30 and dd1 when I was 31...20 month age gap...these two are very cliquey with each other! I am worried they will mutually ignore/exclude a new brother or sister!

Zeuxippe Mon 21-Jan-13 17:00:45

Thanks ready, am trying not to worry too much. What will be, will be.

I've had a strange early pregnancy symptom on and off for the last few days: nearly permanently shivering and can't get warm, even when wearing my coat indoors! Anyone else had this??

cravingformilk Mon 21-Jan-13 17:09:58

So sorry OLT and Purple.

I'm really finding the tiredness hard to cope with. DH said that I was like this last time but I can't remember it.

Anyone else mega grumpy? I'm finding this are winding me up like a really bad case of PMT and I'm not managing to hold my tongue at work hmm (had a bad couple of days)

jennimoo Mon 21-Jan-13 17:16:45

Zeuxippe - I'm shivery too, although I tend to get that when exhausted usually so thinking if night be that?

At some point in my last pregnancy my permanently cold feet magically became warm, before 12 weeks I'm sure, and am looking forward to that as my first nice symptom!

Dorita75 Mon 21-Jan-13 17:29:06

Another geriatric here, 38 in 3 weeks!! Will be baby no1 all being well.

Readytosettle yes! Nausea has struck bigtime here too. Started in earnest on Saturday, I feel sick from the minute I wake up until I go to sleep now. The only time it ceases is immediately after I’ve eaten. I’ve not been sick, just feel it. I’m also tired Eeknumber3 though just want to get home as early as possible and lie on the couch all night.

Welcome Z!!

HettySunshine Mon 21-Jan-13 18:15:55

Welcome Zeuxippe! Evening everyone <waves>

I'm feeling very tired and nauseous tonight and my boobs are killing me!

I am reminding myself how much I was hoping for this over the last couple weeks. hmm

I'll be 34 by the time littly arrives. Doesn't feel old - I wouldn't have been ready 5 years ago.

Is it bedtime yet? wink

Kittenkatzen Mon 21-Jan-13 18:16:59

Goodness, I go away for one little log weekend and you're all halfway through a new Fred! grin Seems there's a bazillion more of us too which is good!

I guess I haven't got a hope of catching up properly so I'll just toddle off and read back a few pages.

<waves> to everyone smile

Kittenkatzen Mon 21-Jan-13 18:28:57

Ok, firstly <hugs> to purple and oltt sad

Secondly, spanishlady I'm so glad you said about feeling like there must have been a mistake and there's really no baby as that's exactly how I've been feeling! Have mentioned it to DH once or twice who thinks I'm stark raving mad!

I'm 6+4 today and still no nausea for me. I'm permanently starving and knackered, and my boobs are on a mission for world domination but honestly if I hadn't POAS all of my symptoms could be easily overlooked confused

Had my initial appt with the midwife last Thursday, she seemed a little surprised I didn't have any nausea but not really concerned. Waiting for my booking in appt to come through now.

andadietcoke Mon 21-Jan-13 18:34:17

Ha hetty it's been bedtime in our house for the last hour. In my jammies and watching tv on my laptop waiting for DH to get in. Went to sleep at 9.30 last night.

kitten I never know whether I feel sick or hungry!!

kimjayne Mon 21-Jan-13 18:43:51

gosh, can't believe how busy this thread is. Each time I blink there's another message.
Finding it hard not to vomit on the bus tonight. This nausea is driving me crazy. Its been constant since week 4! sad is it true that it eases off after 12 weeks?

jennimoo Mon 21-Jan-13 18:46:27

Kimjayne - mine eased at about 12-14 weeks last time, and I was just ravenous all the time!

Eeeknumber3 Mon 21-Jan-13 18:50:33

grin haribo tangfastics, stolen from the children....nom nom nom...got rid of nausea! Never go for sweets normally!

Babyboo79 Mon 21-Jan-13 18:55:06

Zeuxippe I am constantly freezing at the moment and even wearing a scarf at work! I have to end the day with a hot bath just to thaw out....

I really struggled at work today, so tired.

Thankfully on the sofa now with blanket and iPad while DH sorts dinnersmile.

Kittenkatzen Mon 21-Jan-13 19:05:10

dietcoke yeah it is a weird kind of hunger isn't it. I never feel like Oooh I just fancy a bit of whatever - it's always like omg I have to eat right now. Maybe it would turn into nausea if I stopped eating for more than 5 minutes lol grin

jemimahpuddleduck Mon 21-Jan-13 19:05:57

So sorry purple and oltt

Sickness really kicked in over the weekend not so much being sick but certainly feeling it constantly it wakes me up in the night then i can't get back to sleep.

Had a snooze when I got home from work now sat on the sofa with blanket watching sleepless in Seattle while DH makes tea.

Going to have to get some tangtastics got some sherbet lemons which help.

batfuttocks Mon 21-Jan-13 19:07:09

Yes yes to the freezing people! I know you get boiling hot by the end but I have been v chilly these last few weeks.

I think my tiredness is easing a little, I can't be bothered to do anything but I think that's turning back into good old fashioned laziness rather than true incapacity. Still continuing to feel sick though - I have a little window in the morning where it is more manageable, but it comes on with a vengeance at half eleven, then again at half four or five, and at bedtime. Managed to vomit hugely at 6pm then go on to devour 2 chicken fajitas 3 minutes later. It's like reverse bulimia.

Feeling a but daunted as husband leaving for 3 nights, am floored by sickness still and have work people round for dinner tomorrow night. This is not my doing - it's supposed to be easier for me than getting a babysitter for a work meeting but I think it's backfired! I am actually going to have to eat twice, I'll never get to half seven or eight without the nausea finishing me off otherwise. Joy.

Welcome to all the newcomers. I am now about 8+3 and officially fed up of waiting for some confirmation that all is well! Bring on the scan! (Not til feb 9th). Having the add mark test this time round so nervous as didn't screen with my first two children. Not sure why I am doing it this time tbh. But think I need to know what is happening this time and prepare existing children. Or something!

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Mon 21-Jan-13 19:18:02

By august, we will all be wishing we were cold! Dont complain too much!

MrsMc82 Mon 21-Jan-13 19:18:07

smiling at the funny symptoms we're having.... I too haven't been able to hold my tounge at work....I'm in charge of the office move thats happening this week (ffs!!!) and have become very sweary about it, which is not really like me at work, been there nearly 6 years and were a close team so they know me well and i think some of the girls are a little scarred frm my extreme grumpness when I was pg with DS 3 yrs ago! so i think they may have an inckling as to whats going on!..........
No real nausea yet, lots of tiredness and lots of hunger too.... still not sure its real so peeing on sticks on a regular basis, got 30 of the cheap ebay ones fro £2.49 when started to ttc and got up duffed on first month of trying so got plenty ha! also decided that if am still pg in 2 weeks will get a private scan as am far too impatient to wait till 12 weeks to 'know' all is ok.......

kimjayne Mon 21-Jan-13 19:38:46

just ran so fast to the bathroom to be sick that i fell over! landed with all my weight on my knees. sad i must be a little over emotional today as I literally burst into tears!

CrikeeThree Mon 21-Jan-13 19:44:50

god! Agree with the cold thing. I'm freezing!
I mean, I know it's cold outside, but I'm sooo cold. All the time.

And yes. So grumpy. My poor kids. sad

HettySunshine Mon 21-Jan-13 19:56:02

Oh Kimjayne, you poor thing. Wrap up in a blanket and have a nice relax.

Dp is out tonight so I have given in and am currently watching Silent Witness on the iPad in bed with a hot water bottle.

Oh the rock 'n' roll lifestyle!

I've had a hot water bottle permanently attached to me for the last week! Sadly I've got to go to the office tomoro....not sure how I'm going to survive without it for the day!

My 'what to expect' app told me to go swimming, do I just did a Pilates class & went for a swim....thought I was going to collapse on the way home I was soo hungry afterwards!

hackneybird Mon 21-Jan-13 20:41:06

Yep Zeuxippe I'm freezing too! Welcome btw. Also feeling sick all the time except when I've eaten. Really don't want to put on too much weight this time so trying to eat fruit etc. when I'm hungry and nauseous. Although I did devour two crumpets earlier.....

<waves> at all the other crones. Glad I'm not the only one xx

badguider Mon 21-Jan-13 20:49:45

I was FREEZING about a week or more ago (around the 6 week mark) but now not so much.
I am now feeling nauseaus from waking till about 8pm, though thankfully no actual puking.
And shattered beyond belief.

Really want to get out running again and going to try tomorrow morning because strangely I just don't feel nauseous when i'm running but am soooo tired that i need a nap afterwards if i do.

jm233 Mon 21-Jan-13 21:04:20

Is anyone else starting to feel a little bit isolated from society? The whole no drinking thing has put a sharp stop to seeing friends for dinners etc. I've been avoiding people since christmas, and I almost feel disinclined to talk to friends on the phone cause hate lying to them about something so big! On top of all that, I am getting a little bit stressed about what the general reaction to the baby news will be, as we are (pretty much) the first of our friends to get pg. The only (couple) friends we've told reacted initially quite well, but now never ever mention it/ ask/ talk about it - like it's not happening. Really awkward.
I know I shouldn't stress about things like that, and my friends will be there whatever happens, but I am having an emotional wobble!

Creamtea1 Mon 21-Jan-13 21:05:01

eeknumber3 oh yes, tangfastics are the thing....already demolished 2 bags over the weekend!

jm233 Mon 21-Jan-13 21:05:59

Ps- I've been freezing too! I made the mistake of googling it and it told me I might have hypothyroidism. Really glad it's not just me and I can put that crazy theory behind me...

Rosyisgonnabeamummy Mon 21-Jan-13 21:07:55

It's been the coldest temps overnight the last few nights but I had woken up literally swimming in sweat. Like I've wet myself. Did you know ankles sweat?!

My boobs are easing off, nips are tender but boobs as a whole are 3/10 sore now. Nausea is also improving. I have 30 mins nausea free when I get up, then about an hour of 5/10 nausea (10 being wrapped round toilet bowl), then that's it....... Does this mean I am ahead of you girls, or just lucky?!

Also, just to rub it in a bit more ...... I have a scan tomorrow grin
I booked in on thurs with the midwife, and I have a consultant apt next Tuesday too.

Manoodledo Mon 21-Jan-13 21:47:14

Going to see the GP on Weds (finally, will be 8 wks!) Think I'll have to take three-year-old DS2 with me. I'm really hoping he doesn't latch onto the word pregnant and spill the beans to everyone!

kimjayne Mon 21-Jan-13 21:48:33

jm233, i know exactly what you mean. We are also the first couple within our close group of friends to get pg. Whats worse is that two of our mates (married couple) tried to conceive last year with no luck and another couple are highly non maternal! So I have a feeling we will get mixed opinions when we spill the beans. Im not missing going out too much but agree with you on missing the interaction. I've even avoiding seeing people too. Mainly because i find it hard to hide the sickness but also for fear of slipping up on my own lies. I hate the lying more than anything.
When are you gonna tell your friends?

jm233 Mon 21-Jan-13 22:02:57

Kim- You're right, it's not the going out, but spending time with people, and not feeling like you can't now that your preggers!
I think we'll tell our really close friends this we, provided the 8 week scan is good, everyone else at 12 weeks (my mum knows and his parents away for a month now).
I feel bad cause it sounds like I'm moping, but I'm really not, and we are both so excited for this little bean! It's just a lot to get my head around!

andadietcoke Mon 21-Jan-13 22:06:26

Heehee. In a way I'm worried because we're the last of our friends, and I'm secretly a bit anxious that they'll be a bit meh about the whole thing. Been there, done that etc!

amiready Mon 21-Jan-13 22:10:28

Hi guys, just marking place - still no real symptoms over here! But in my book it says 1 in 4 don't get nauseous and it seems there are a few of us on here who keep fairly quiet about it but pop up every now and then!

kimjayne so sorry you fell over! Are you ok?! Did you make it to the toilet???!

jm233 totally know what you mean - in fact New years eve (the day my period was due so brand new pg) was so sedate as I wasn't drinking and couldn't just blab everything about how I was feeling, so ended up just being really quiet and we all had a bit of a boring night! I definitely find it's affecting my friendships, not being able to say what I'm thinking. Just want to talk about it so much!

Otherwise all is well here. Got a draft contract from work at last today - haven't had a chance to read through the maternity bit yet though. Not sure how I'll bring it up if anything needs negotiating! Here's hoping it's all ok. I find work things quite stressful.

SGJ Mon 21-Jan-13 22:42:13

jm233 - I remember when the first of our friends told us they were pg - of course we were pleased for them, but I also remember being completely unaware of what a big deal it was for them, it just didn't occur to me. People really don't understand until they have their own, so though your friends were pleased for you, they won't be thinking about it every couple of minutes like we all are!! But rest assured they will buy some great presents and bring you wine, cheese and late after the birth!

And I'm loving all the food/nausea stories (especially the fajitas, excellent work!) - I'm having to really work hard at eating little and often. If I eat too much in one go (as I have this evening) I feel massively bloated and vom-tastic. I know I should be eating more fruit but I really wanted grilled cheese sandwiches! Bread bloat...

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers Tue 22-Jan-13 00:30:31

An interesting article here. Found the miscarriage stats a little reassuring.

kimjayne Tue 22-Jan-13 08:22:55

amiready - i made it to the look just in time. phew! i now have grazed knees like a 12 yr old boy though! somehow managed to bruise my bum too!? not sure how that occurred? i instantly panicked that id harmed the bean?! I don't know if im just stressing out?
Jm233 - I think once the news is out we will feel the cloud lifted and we will be able to enjoy seeing friends much more. Its just difficult when you are lying all the time.
In food news - Im not normally a big snacker but im currently carrying an emergency bag of grapes and mini flapjacks around llike a nutter. The little snack bags of grapes at tesco are good for handbag food if anyone else struggles with hunger sickness?
by the way, has anyone else had nose bleeds recently? I've never had one before. Not sure if its common in pg?

kimjayne Tue 22-Jan-13 08:25:55

amiready - good news on your contract! smile bet thats a relief.

Kittenkatzen Tue 22-Jan-13 08:28:40

kimjayne sorry you fell over, I hope your poor knees are ok! If its any consolation, I cried in bed this morning because the cat woke me up at half 5 and I couldn't go back to sleep! DH was like confused

dietcoke we're the last of our friends to get upduffed too, I'm thinking of holding off telling them as long as possible as I don't want all the well meaning advice just yet!

Kittenkatzen Tue 22-Jan-13 08:30:33

Oh and whoever mentioned crumpets, thanks, I'm now going to have to stop for some on my way to work!! grin

kimjayne Tue 22-Jan-13 08:41:36

mmmmm good call on the crumpets! smile

jm233 Tue 22-Jan-13 08:50:26

Has anyone had a flu jab yet? DH announced this morning that he has a scratchy sore throat this morning and I'm panicking!

Creamtea1 Tue 22-Jan-13 08:58:44

Flu jab tomorrow for me
Just weighed myself and have jumped from 1lb weight gain to 4lb gain in the last couple of days!! I will be 8 weeks on thurs. there goes my aim of no more than 3lb in the first trimester then sad

Kittenkatzen Tue 22-Jan-13 09:19:24

Just had two crumpets with butter and marmite for breakfast with a decaff coffee - I am a happy kitten! grin

No flu jab for me - is it even flu season still then? The midwife didn't mention it last week....

cream tea I'm 6+5 and have definitely put on about 2lb so far.....I'm hoping the constant hunger wears off soon and things will even out a bit - otherwise they're going to have to roll me into the delivery room come September! DH thinks it's hilarious that I'm probably going to end up weighing more than he does by then end...hmm

fl0b0t Tue 22-Jan-13 09:22:30

I don't know how anyone does this!
I've been feeling the sickness since Saturday. I've been in bed by 9 every night for almost two weeks and I'm feeling ridiculously queasy. Was just afternoons at the weekend and now it's all day. I'm only 5+1! What's worse is that everyone's body handles pregnancy different and I've heard women giving it the old "What's wrong with you? I'm pregnant and I'm fine! You're only pregnant, not ill!"

The opposite to that is something (was it on mumsnet advice?) that said "You'll be grateful that you're pregnant, otherwise you'd think you were dying!". So true!

If I keep feeling this bad a)I'm worried about being back in the office and b)I'm going to have to tell people before I really want to because I'm finding it hard to keep things together when I'd rather be alseep or curled up nomming something carby to keep the sickness at bay!

Ah well, first dr app today- what should I expect? Will they just do a pregnancy test and then refer me?

Eeeknumber3 Tue 22-Jan-13 09:46:23

Kimjayne - I have suffered with nosebleeds in pg...with my little girl but not my son. Am having minor ones again this time, maybe another girl?! I am prone, but other than in pg not had them for years! Also, I suffer with the bleeding gums...what can I say, must be a bleeder! Seemingly, they are fairly common pg symptom, but not nice x

jemimahpuddleduck Tue 22-Jan-13 10:11:50

Morning all

Felt awful this morning didn't know how I was going to get to work but I am here and it's bearable. Helped by salt and vinegar rice cakes and sherbet lemons.

Also loving toasted bagels with philidelphia.

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Tue 22-Jan-13 10:13:09

Well I've just been booked in with the doctors, midwife in a couple of weeks. I do love my doctor, she's a gem! Had me giggling like mad!
Anyway, she's put me down for consultant led care because of my bmi, sad but I'm going to be fighting for a MLU delivery the whole way! Everything else looks fine, she's upped my dose of folic acid, and the I'm to go back next week for a cervical exam to check out the spotting. If my cervix doesn't look correct, then I get an early scan. Hurrah! can I get just a wee bit excited now? grin

fl0b0t I doubt they'll do a pregnancy test at your appt, from what I know the home tests are so reliable these days that they tend to take your word for it! When I had my appt last week we discussed my dates, symptoms, any relevant medical history, she made sure I was taking folic acid and then gave me the free prescription form to send off. I had to tell her which hospital I want to give birth at so that she can register me there - now I'm just waiting for a letter from the hosi telling me the date of my booking appt/bloods/first scan etc (hopefully all on the same day).

hackneybird Tue 22-Jan-13 12:46:59

jm233 I second what SGJ says. Don't be hurt, or read too much into it, your friends just probably aren't that interested and don't appreciate the enormity of it all for you. Before I had my DS I wasn't bothered about my friends' children or pregnancies. I would make all the right noises for the sake of politeness but that was it.

I now find that my friends and family members without children are exactly the same towards me. Whenever I see them without my son in tow they never even ask after him! I don't mind, it's quite refreshing to have conversations that don't revolve around children from time to time smile.

Eeeknumber3 Tue 22-Jan-13 13:35:09

I have just HAD to walk through the foot of snow here to get a can of irn bru from our local newsagents...it was bliss! How bizarre...

Eeeknumber3 Tue 22-Jan-13 13:40:36

I feel that I will be judged by some of my friends for having a 3rd child, when they constantly say how happy they are with two and couldn't deal with another. We all seem to be concerned, for different reasons, about others reactions. My other irrational, yet very real, fear, is that I have had two real text book pregnancies with no complications and relatively straightforward deliveries (dd arrived within an hour of getting to hospital and was nowhere near as bad as ds1)! So, now I think I can't be that lucky a third time and something terrible will go wrong. I have the midwife from second birth in my head, after she commented how fast dd arrived, saying 'ooooo, don't have a third, third births and pregnancies get difficult again!'

swaye Tue 22-Jan-13 13:43:15

Im going to see a pg friend tomorrow. She's not a best friend or close, more that my DH knows her DH. She is 7months me 5 weeks. I dont think i should tell yet, only told 2 close friends so far but im going to feel so guilty not telling whilst talking about her bump. Oh, i just dont want to burst in to tears and spill the beans!!!! What would you do?

fl0b0t Tue 22-Jan-13 13:44:59

Cheers Kittenkatzen- I almost feel like taking two positive tests in with me to "prove" it. I, also, have been stressing about not being pregnant- even though those two lines couldn't be clearer! I kept the tests and double check them every night before bed. I am a nutter!

And to add to the general chat- I'm also finding to quite hard socially. Luckily I'm recovering from an injury which is a good "excuse" not to do lots of things (like sledging etc), but the "how are you?!" chat from my end is just boooooring! I am currently doing nothing except being exhausted and excited!

rumtumtugger Tue 22-Jan-13 14:03:09

Hi all, congrats and can I join? My edd from dates is 27th Sept. This bean will be our 2nd dc but I've forgotten what I did re midwife appts the first time round - should I call the surgery to arrange my booking appt now, given I'm only 4 weeks?

jm233 Tue 22-Jan-13 14:23:22

Just read on a different MN thread that taramasalata is actually really good for you and is completely safe during pregnancy! I am jumping off joy! Nom nom nom...

Re people with no kids- it does make sense in my rational head, but I suppose somewhere deep down you just hope that your friends will take an interest in your bump in the same way they do other things! It's a little bit disheartening for a first time pg girl to discover these things about people.

jm233 Tue 22-Jan-13 14:26:16

Jumping for joy. Can tell I'm excited.

Kittenkatzen Tue 22-Jan-13 15:20:00

grin fl0b0t we can be nutters together then - my two frers live in my bedside cabinet, along with the two cbd's which I can't throw out even though the batteries have long since died and they're both completely blank! Hope your appt goes well.

rumtum I called my gp at about 4 weeks, mostly because I wanted to try and get my appointment at a particular date and time to fit in with work. Doesn't hurt to give them a call, just bear in mind they might not want you to come in before 6-8 weeks or so.

swaye I just had lunch with a friend who has a 1yr old - we spent the whole time chatting about her possibly trying for no.2 and a number of our mutual friends' various bumps and babies. I've never had to bite my tongue so many times in one hour before! It was difficult but I'm glad I didn't say anything just yet smile

Manoodledo Tue 22-Jan-13 15:40:19

Eek I'm totally with you, I also had 2 very straightforward births and find it hard to believe I could be so lucky again. I know there's no real reason to think that way, but it's niggling at me.

fl0b0t Tue 22-Jan-13 16:21:35

Cheers guys. Appt went well (even though I cried and looked like an idiot). Got my booking in appt with midwife for 15th Feb smile All getting real-er! ;)

TripleRock Tue 22-Jan-13 17:51:02

jm , Taramasalata is one of the few food sources of Vit D.

So, I would say consuming large quantities is important, nay essential for your health!

Cacks81 Tue 22-Jan-13 18:20:55

This thread just keeps getting longer! So pleased.

Very sorry to read if bad news. X

A question - does anyone suffer from 'dead leg' feeling? My left leg has been awful today. Plus, my boobs have stopped hurting, so naturally, the irrational part of my brain is kicking in and panicking! Any thoughts?

Cacks81 Tue 22-Jan-13 18:21:24

Rosyisgonnabeamummy Tue 22-Jan-13 18:57:11

Hi girls.
I'm delighted to learn taramasalata is a green for go food for mums to be. Guess what I'm having for lunch tomorrow?!

I've been for a dating scan today and I can officially tell you I am 8w 4d. It has a heart beat and little limb blobs. My mum said it looks like a duck.

It's slowly becoming a bit real. . .

andadietcoke Tue 22-Jan-13 19:24:17

Yay Rosy how exciting! I want a dating scan [stamps foot].

Oooh, taramasalata and hot pitta bread strips. Mmmmmm.

Onesliceortwo Tue 22-Jan-13 19:40:24

Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but I'm afraid I'm hopping off this bus. Seems this little bean hasn't managed to hold on tight as I started bleeding today. Lots and lots of luck to you all x

Cacks81 Tue 22-Jan-13 20:08:00

So sorry onesliceortwo. I hope you're being we'll looked after and cared for. Good luck with it all. X

jm233 Tue 22-Jan-13 20:30:24

Sorry to hear your news oneslice. Wishing you lots of luck for next time!

Rosy that is so excitiiiiing! Counting the hours till scan-day Friday!

Glad to see everyone is getting on the taramasalata boat, great news for us all!

Creamtea1 Tue 22-Jan-13 20:38:40

Really sorry for you oneslice

Confession time.....I've never eaten taramasalata!! Ever in all my years? Tell me what I'm missing! Taste, texture?

andadietcoke Tue 22-Jan-13 20:40:07

I'm so sorry oneslice. I hope you're being taken care of x

andadietcoke Tue 22-Jan-13 20:41:26

I'm getting proper scan envy now. Damn my regular periods, even after the mc. Wonder how long it'll be before I break and book a private scan?!

Creamtea1 Tue 22-Jan-13 20:54:32

Talking of scans.... now I think someone might have already said this, but has anyone thought that out of the 50,000 of us on this thread come 12 week scan time there has GOT to be at least 5 of us that will be having twins, if you go by the stats/averages!
Am v interested to find out if/who is - we can then look at if all the increased twin likelihood factors are true - early bfp, bad/early morning sickness, mum over 30, mum tall (??), not first baby etc etc..
We can have our very own thread stats!

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Tue 22-Jan-13 21:03:45

Well I had a bfp at about 3.4, am 37 and having number 3. There are also twins in my maternal family. If it is me, I may have a nervous breakdown, and DP will definitely have a nervous break down! confused

amiready Tue 22-Jan-13 21:12:45

7+2. Going so slowly! Just read an email about a friend/acquaintance who has just miscarried at 11 weeks and 3 days - so close to the end mark! I would be so completely gutted if that happened to me. Just wish we could be out of the danger zone soon.

Re twins - definitely don't think I am, no morning sickness at all!

Still not heard from the hosp, although GP referred me two weeks ago. Not long I know, but will be nice to have another 'thing' underway!

SGJ Tue 22-Jan-13 21:23:14

My sister lost previous pregnancies at 7, 8 and 10+5 weeks - heartbreaking every time and even now at 33 weeks she's still worrying. IT DOESN'T STOP!
Very sad to hear of more losses on this thread. Best wishes xx
Just had an epic dinner disaster - was starving & DH out at rehearsal so caved & ordered massive amount of Dominos. I've eaten 2 slices and I'M STUFFED!! Actual sob! Damn you constipation! Better get on the taramasalata with the rest of you!!

SGJ Tue 22-Jan-13 21:24:33

Oh and I am feeling much more sickness than last time and had a REALLY strong BFP at 4 weeks exactly... at least if it's twins I won't be going back to work!!

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Tue 22-Jan-13 21:26:12

SGJ cold pizza for breakfast! <<swoons>>

Dorita75 Tue 22-Jan-13 21:28:57

Twins..I wonder, my sister's convinced I'm having twins because she dreamt it once...hmm Though, BFP was v strong when I tested day before AF, I'm 37, morning all day sickness started 5ish wks...

Also loving crumpets and marmite, and found eating really regularly (every 30mins) has helped massively last 2 days, trying to eat fruit and healthy stuff though NEED cheese a lot.

Has anyone gone off hot drinks? I can't stomach the idea of tea or coffee and haven't had a hot drink for over a week.

Dorita75 Tue 22-Jan-13 21:29:29

Take care oneslice x

Creamtea1 Tue 22-Jan-13 21:43:25

Pizza mmmmmm
Cheese mmmmm
Oh no am starving now!!!!

LexyMa Tue 22-Jan-13 21:44:36

Oh heck. Twins? Yeeesh. I had BFP at cd25, but faint. Am nearly 34. Tum is popping out at 8w a bit. Didn't have sickness last time, nauseous at specific times of day this time.

Nah. Don't believe it. No history of twins anywhere in my family.

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Tue 22-Jan-13 21:48:12

Ive stopped drinking fizzy, so have had the occasional cup of tea. It makes me feel really icky. I think its the milk. I bought some lemon and ginger tea bags today and am going to give them a go.

SGJ Tue 22-Jan-13 21:51:57

Yes, Catpuss! The pizza is now packed away ready for lunch tomorrow but (at the risk of sounding crass) unless I've had a massive poop I don't think I should be anything else at all, let alone cold, stodgy, carb-tastic pizza!

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Tue 22-Jan-13 21:55:23

grin Do you think it will start coming out of our ears eventually?? God only knows what will happen if I

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Tue 22-Jan-13 21:56:00

need to take iron supplements! confused

badguider Tue 22-Jan-13 21:57:36

I used to be utterly addicted to tea with milk but am now having a black tea first thing then a few green teas through the day - the thought of milk in it makes me boak.

(though a few days ago i was sinking whole glasses of milk... weird... it's different every day!)

Kittenkatzen Tue 22-Jan-13 21:59:26

So sorry oneslice I hope pure being looked after

catpuss the lemon and ginger teabags are my best friend at the moment, that and peppermint tea - they seem to help curb the constant hunger slightly!

Twins - I actually did dream I was pg with twins two days before my bfp, it's one of the things that made me think hmm. Also my belly is definitely feeling firmer - I can't suck it in flat any more confused However, no history of twins and zero sickness and a half-strength bfp the day before AF due makes me think its all in my head smile

Oh and envy <---pukeface at all the taramasalata talk - that stuff is pure pink sludgy evilness in a pot <boak>

Starving hungry but too nauseous to eat anything! Any suggestions for a bed time snack that won't make me vom?!

P.s tea started tasting foul to me before I knew I was pregnant....be careful with all that green tea badguider I think it's really high in caffeine!

SGJ Tue 22-Jan-13 22:54:50

ready - get some Tracker bars. Winner!

KamikazeeKid Tue 22-Jan-13 23:17:17

Cacks I have that annoying leg feeling! I thought it was supposed to happen later on!! I never had it with my son tho.

One slice, im so sorry to hear your news xx

jennimoo Wed 23-Jan-13 05:04:47

Badguider - do check on green tea. I think it slows absorption of folic acid so might not be good in early pregnancy...

Hooya Wed 23-Jan-13 05:29:38

Hello! Just to say re green tea, I live in Asia where it is everywhere and no guidance from my doc here about not drinking it. Just not in excess, but the same goes for all caffeinated things right?

Has anyone else started, um, retching? I did this morning, it was gross.

Scan tomorrow where my hopes of hearing a heartbeat and this pg sticking are increased given how rotten I feel!

Hooya Wed 23-Jan-13 05:32:09

Oh and Zeux and jennie glad you said that about shivering! I haven't read that anywhere as a symptom but I'm constantly cold and shivery even in my boiling hot office!

jennimoo Wed 23-Jan-13 07:01:25

Just googled and looks like you'd have to drink a lot of green tea for it to affect folic acid levels, so should be fine. I didn't realise it still had caffeine in though (but I don't like it anyway...)

Woke too early with sicky indigestiony feeling and DH just left on a work trip the next 2 days. Will be knackered by the time he gets home!

PurplePoppySeed Wed 23-Jan-13 07:59:43

So sorry to those who have dropped off the bus, look after yourselves and don't push yourself back into daily life too quick, it can take time. Hopefully you'll be back on board soon xx

I have food envy from catching up this morning, from reading about everyone enjoying marmite, I've totally gone off it, wonder if I keep trying it'll get nicer again?

jennimoo Wed 23-Jan-13 08:10:34

I was loving marmite til last night, then had some on crumpet before bed and could taste it all night and slept really badly. So another thing in my 'cant stand the thought of' list.

badguider Wed 23-Jan-13 08:20:02

Green tea has 25mg of caffeine per mug. As opposed to 75-100mg per mug for black tea and 159mg+ for coffee.

So some caffeine but not loads (up to 200mg a day said to be safe in preg)

Thanks for the heads up about the folic though! Good to check these things out even though it seems fine.

jm233 Wed 23-Jan-13 08:51:57

I've replaced everything in our house with decaf when ttc (without telling anyone). As far as the tea goes- I literally can't tell the difference. Decaf coffee is a bit less punchy but its better than nothing (I drink quite a lot of both)! Although I do still have a normal latte in the morning... Mmmm

PurplePoppySeed Wed 23-Jan-13 08:53:39

Maybe not so sensible to try it again then! Just had crumpets for breakfast as I couldn't face having milk with my cereal, but I'm really struggling today - think I have to finally accept that I might actually sickness!

PurplePoppySeed Wed 23-Jan-13 08:55:45

get sickness!

swaye Wed 23-Jan-13 09:35:46

Kittenkatzen. Thanks, im feeling stronger today so hopefully i will manage to keep my little secret. :-)

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Wed 23-Jan-13 09:40:29

Oh CRIKEY! The bad dreams hit last night! A total weirdness experience! confused

andadietcoke Wed 23-Jan-13 09:44:44

saggy (that sounds awful as an abbreviation, sorry) I feel for you. I don't remember much about mine but the night before last I had a completely horrific and vivid mc dream which completely traumatised me, and I can remember every bloody thing. Awful thing, our subconscious!

LexyMa Wed 23-Jan-13 09:52:19

My dreams last night involved being mauled by dogs I think. No idea why.

And I had a 'more than retching' moment in the car this morning. I was eating bread and butter for breakfast on the road, and there was something disgusting about it which made me gag (I was close to gagging with hunger before, so it didn't take much). Then I just retched and retched and was a little bit sick. I was actually going along the road at the time and couldn't pull over. It was awful, I had to spit into tissues.

Belvedere Wed 23-Jan-13 09:59:32

Hello All, Its been ages since ive been written anything but have been reading all your posts regularly. Some of its really made these sloooow weeks feel much better smile
Ive got a question for some of you... Ive had terrible m/s the last few weeks, no actual sick just queasy and wanting to eat every carb in site! I feel like a right fatty already. The last few days I actually havent felt too bad and only have sparodic waves of nausea. is this normal? I know I should be pleased not to be feeling so terrible but im also worried (still have mega sore boobs if thats a consolation!) Im 8w today which feels like a nice milestone!

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Wed 23-Jan-13 10:06:59

I don't think it necessarily has to last long. As long as other stuff is still going on, you should be fine. I'm sure with DS it went about then, with dd it lasted to about 10 weeks.

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Wed 23-Jan-13 10:19:27

Don't worry AndADietCokeBreak. Saggy is my usual MN appendage. Catpuss was for Christmas. I quite like it! Saggy by name, saggy by nature!

Crikey, I hadn't looked back in on this thread for a little while, and it's gotten even bigger! So many posts to read, this afternoon will not be productive. grin

Nausea is kicking in with a vengence now, though thankfully not actually being sick. I'm trying to sort out the meal planner, shopping list, and cook ahead for the rest of the week and it's just not happening. I also agree with Kittenkatzen about taramasalata being evil pink sludge!

I've had my appointment with the GP, got my booking appt with the midwife on Tuesday the 12th, at 9 weeks. MN calculator says my EDD is 16 Sept, GP's card circle says 19 Sept, I think I'd tend to agree with MN. grin

So for the list, EDD 16 Sept, BFP 8 Jan, I'm 29 and this will be DC2.

LexyMa Wed 23-Jan-13 10:57:56

One of the things which annoyed me the most first time round was that I knew exactly when I conceived (because we DTD on cd9 thinking it was too early for ovulation to catch even the plucky adventurer sperm that survived 7 days in there). So I had a due date estimated by an ovulation date of cd16 (not LMP) that I gave them. Then I had dating/nuchal scan and they moved my EDD forward by about 4 days (which would mean I ovulated on cd12 - nuts!). First babies being generally overdue this increased the threat of induction once I passed the 42 week mark (which I did).

Thing is that the measurement error ranges simply can't support that. Dating is done at 10-12 weeks because the growth of the placenta/foetus is thought to be the same rate for everyone in the early stages regardless of their age, size, ethnicity, health, so the centiles of size relating to gestation "must" be gospel. Now, as a caucasian I get that I am quite likely to be similar to whatever sample population those scales are taken from, but I objected to it becoming the official date.

DS came out on their 42+1 (by my count 41+4) on the 95% line for birth weight and head circumference (they didn't measure length), so I don't think it's beyond the realms of possibility that he was a shade bigger from very early on! There was some meconium in the amniotic waters so he was definitely overdue, I agree with that, but it really added to the pressure (and impatience) towards the end as I was really not looking forward to induction and the unpredictable speed/chain of events which might follow.

Hoping for a marginally earlier one this time, but I didn't mind the weight/size really. wizard's sleeve, DH said

I think if I didn't have an early scan I would have been going without him! <grumbles away>

andadietcoke Wed 23-Jan-13 16:33:58

Zeux don't worry! I didn't start feeling nauseous until 6w, and today is the first time I've actually been sick (somewhere between 6+5 and 7+2).

jennimoo Wed 23-Jan-13 16:43:21

Yep me too, around 6 weeks the nausea began this time and last time.

PurplePoppySeed Wed 23-Jan-13 16:54:43

I'm not on their either, mind if I add myself? Such a big thread I think I snuck in between sad news sorry blush

PurplePoppySeed Wed 23-Jan-13 17:14:10

Ok I've tried to add myself and update with those that have sadly had to leave, hope this is ok with everyone:

jm233 Wed 23-Jan-13 17:21:30

Zeux I'm with dietcoke on that one- I didn't really start feeling sick till around 6w, and even still, I think I've only felt I'll maybe 3 or 4 times? Never actually sick though.

I really can't make up my mind on my clothing situation right now- almost everything I own sits tight over my tummy, so is now obsolete. I feel it's too early for maternity clothes, but can't really find an awful lot that hides the massive boobage and tiny pot belly confused

I fear my boobs may be the size of my head by the time I'm 12 weeks!

jennimoo Wed 23-Jan-13 18:12:14

I'm onto using hair bands to do up my work trousers (with long tops covering) already. The loosest pair was too tight today sad Looking forward to not having to hide it at work, will be much easier!

batfuttocks Wed 23-Jan-13 18:52:19

I started feeling sick around five weeks, then it got steadily worse until seven and a half weeks. The last two or three days have been a little better, that said I just finished puking at 6pm and did something similar on Monday - so I am alternate day vomiting now, not every day! Small mercies and all that. Honestly, don't wish it on yourself, it's vile. I had very little sickness with dc1 so remember the worry about not having any, but I promise it was better than feeling like this all day long. And having just vomited up haribo, I am losing so many foods to the "can't ever look at that again" list.

Have sneakily booked a private scan for tomorrow though. At this rate may be the first to declare twins! smile

fl0b0t Wed 23-Jan-13 18:53:34

So bloated, indigest-ed and massive today I've had to undo my trousers every time I've sat down! Almost emarassed myself! When I get home, its Jim jams on for me! Any tips to cure indigestion? My stomach (under rib cage) is rock hard and so painful.tried nibbling food, gentle exercise sipping hot and cool drinks.... Nothing doing!

fl0b0t Wed 23-Jan-13 18:57:09

Oh, and be interesting to see on the twins debate! I had a (late) strong positive (i tested first day af due and got nothing, tested last day and very strong bfp) and been (feeling) sick since 4+5 .... Not sure how I feel about twins.... There are some in the family (not close or many)......

Kittenkatzen Wed 23-Jan-13 19:04:33

jenni and jm I'm with you on the clothes issue - my belly is definitely sticking out a bit and I can't suck it in flat like I usually do. I actually popped into next at lunchtime and bought two or three new work tops in a size 16 (normally wear a 12/14)...they are patterned floaty efforts so they do look a bit big but not ridiculously so and will conceal my carb induce pot belly for a while I hope smile

On the sickness I think today I've actually had a moment or two of very mild nausea for the first time! I'm still starving though so am thinking I might conduct an experiment tomorrow and try to stop the constant grazing and see if that makes any difference!

batfuttocks Wed 23-Jan-13 19:07:34

I think bloating and indigestion are standard. Rennies help me a bit. I could do with clearing the last 5 weeks of poo though! I have a real pot belly today and I am sure it's just being backed up. Sorry for the information overload. Jeans do still do up but I don't like them done up when I sit down! I ordered a bump band today in the hope I can undo my jeans for a few weeks with one of these over the top, before I give in and crack open the elastic aged waist bands!

batfuttocks Wed 23-Jan-13 19:08:36

Elasticated, even.

andadietcoke Wed 23-Jan-13 19:17:06

Interestingly, thinking about kitten's experiments, I've just realised that my worsening nausea and today's first vomiting has happened since I ran out of b-complex vitamins, which Dr Google reports help with ms. So if anyone is struggling, it might be worth trying B6 or a B vitamin complex.

May well just be a coincidence, or might just be that this is my time for throwing up.

Ohcrapwhathaveidone Wed 23-Jan-13 20:03:10

Hi everybody <waves> can I join you?

Had my BFP 19/01 will be DC2
EDD 27th of Sept.

Cant seem to add myself probably because I'm on my phone.

Feeling mostly just bloody knackeredconfused and just waiting for the sicknessblush to kick in!

PurplePoppySeed Wed 23-Jan-13 20:09:55

Agree about feeling backed up, I really hope it gets better! Horrible feeling hungry but not wanting to eat!

SGJ Wed 23-Jan-13 20:18:18

Batfuttocks - bring on the poo talk - I was so relieved last night after ahem 'dropping the kids off at the pool' that I actually texted my sister just to tell her I HAVE JUST DONE A POO. I feel that since she is 33 weeks pg she will appreciate my relief! (plus she delivered DD so we have no secrets)

PurplePoppySeed Wed 23-Jan-13 20:29:31

Haha, I felt like that last night, but by this morning I felt just as bad again grr

batfuttocks Wed 23-Jan-13 20:33:49

So true though, nothing better than a good clear out when you eel like this!

Odd third time round seeing my belly pop out again. I had to gain about three quarters of a stone whilst tic to help get cycles back to normal after running made them go weird, so although I have normal BMI I am used to being pretty toned and fit and was already a bit fed up of my squishy body when I fell pregnant. Now I am having to eat to avoid nausea and its quite hard letting go and letting myself get bigger again. I have never yet struggled to lose baby weight, but it's the lack of tone and loss of fitness I'm finding hard. I am so nauseous currently, and exhausted, that I have abandoned my usual exercise the last few weeks. Hopefully I can pick it up again in a week or two if this stops being so debilitating. There was a point where it helped the nausea and tiredness, but then it just went horrific, with a real motion-sickness thing, so I have mostly been lying still the last few weeks.

juniper904 Wed 23-Jan-13 20:53:38

Can I join the party?

Found out yesterday morning. Approximately 5 weeks, so due 22nd September ish.

First month trying and it works! Shocked as I expected it all to go wrong (family history). Still nervous of MC but I need to try my best to ignore the fear.

I'm sticking to low impact batfuttocks- swimming, Pilates & country walks all the way! Went to Body Balance tonight & I was definitely struggling with the balance part....

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers Wed 23-Jan-13 21:53:33

Sore sore boobage! The shower felt painful today! And a top that had lace on top- the lace brushed against them and it really hurt!!
Also relieved to see others with stomachs that feel suspiciously firmer. or maybe it's just my imagination

Creamtea1 Wed 23-Jan-13 22:06:28

Love a bit of poo talk and can't wait to hear first few reports of scans and maybe twins!
The problem is with the clear outs is that it feels great but 24 hrs later and you're backed up again, am sure it contributes to pot belly etc.
The last week have been having waves of feeling sick which are only relieved by either sugar based things (haribo) or carbs (toast). So am just trying to nibble when needed instead of the whole packet or half a loaf.
And cravings are really kicking in...I dreamt about big American style TGIs or similar bacon cheeseburgers....mmmmm blush

CarrieJayne Wed 23-Jan-13 22:22:25

I just ate a whole bag of Tangfastics grin. Thought I'd share.

CarrieJayne Wed 23-Jan-13 22:23:03

Share the confession, not the bag of sweets of course...

Thornintherose Wed 23-Jan-13 22:30:20

Hi all. Have only posted the first time am a bit slack but have been reading!

I am 5+1 now I think and wishing I hadn't found out so soon as this week has been dragging! Have no symptoms really not even sore boobs which I had last time, am hopeing it's because I'm still breastfeeding - anyone else still breastfeeding?

Had an early scan lsat time because of bleeding so got to see the heartbeat at around 7 weeks but feel like this time it's going to go soooo slow.

I am contantly hungry though if that is a symtom, I always thought it was a myth. Have also been feeling dizzy and faint when I stand up a lot.

Creamtea1 Wed 23-Jan-13 23:08:50

Half a bag here carrie!

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Thu 24-Jan-13 00:04:48

OOOF! <<groans>> I have just been out for my work christmas dinner. I had the full 3 courses... can barely move now! My trousers were quite comfy! There is a small part of me that is REALLY dreading being backed up with this lot by the morning! confused
Im still not feeling overly nauseous, it comes in occasional little bouts, but I have the sorest breasts! It has been getting worse day by day! Im not sorry not to feel sick overly, but it would be quite comforting...

Kittenkatzen Thu 24-Jan-13 07:27:27

Haha thornintherose I'm 7 wks and have already put on about 2/3lb due to that bastarding myth grin

cravingformilk Thu 24-Jan-13 08:06:57

Morning all, I seem to be suffering with quiet the opposite to most of you blush I'm thinking it must be due to all the OJ I'm drinking in place of wine. On that note...what do you drink? Before I was pg I drank lots of tea in the day, fruit juices, water and a glass of wine most nights. I don't like fizzy pop or squash so I'm now drinking decaf tea water and fruit juice and fancy trying something different, I just don't know what.

I'm off for my 2nd early scan today, I'm so nervous. They could see only a sac last week - keeping my fingers crossed for a HB.

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Thu 24-Jan-13 08:11:22

Fingers crossed Craving, and sending you my best wishes. Xxxxx

CarrieJayne Thu 24-Jan-13 08:52:02

Fx craving! Try elderflower cordial, ginger beer or a glass of milk! Even if you haven't got ms they taste darn good! Off for a private early scan this morning, no symptoms at all so fx all is well! Have a great day all x

Hooya Thu 24-Jan-13 09:04:20

Saw a heartbeat! Yippeee feels proper now!

On the downside, my stomach is a mess! Diarrhoea, pain, burping, retching - I am sooooo attractive right now hmm

Good luck craving hope all goes well!

Hooya Thu 24-Jan-13 09:05:23

And good luck Carrie too!

I thought people at work might get suss if I started ordering de-caff on the tea run so I'm going for ginger tea all the way. At home it's bottlegreen ginger & lemon grass.

badguider Thu 24-Jan-13 09:50:26

I'm 7+1 today I think and my ms has eased up a touch... last week was pretty awful tbh so I'm quite glad.
Gut is not great with sore trapped wind and burps but happy to say i'm not bunged up (think running really helps with that even though i'm run/walking very slowly right now).

I don't know if anybody else has a morbid fear of mmc like I do but I found a reassuring paper online that gave only a 1.3% rate of mmc at the scan if done at 13wks (as mine will be), no bleeding and between 35 and 39yrs old. For some reason I am terrified of mmc discovered at the scan, while I think I would be sad but could bear an mc with bleeding before then.

My boobs are sore and HUGE though - does anybody know if the growing slows down at all? I have gained about 1.5cup sizes already and if it keeps up at this rate they'll be bigger than my bump!!!!

LotsaTuddles Thu 24-Jan-13 10:04:39

My work paid a GP to come and give us all flu jabs in November last year so I've already had mine.

Also feeling sick 24 7, can't eat anything bigger than a packet of crisps without being sick.

Don't think I can wait till 15th for appointment with midwife, seems so far away. I feel like I'm going to explode if I don't tell everyone soon, it's so hard to not let things slip. Like for example, DPs friend came round last night, and myself and MiL were both sitting there quite happily talking about the little squid and my midwife appointment and how amazing the first scan is etc, until DP walked into living room and reminded us that we had company blush

LotsaTuddles Thu 24-Jan-13 10:07:45

Oh and SiL gave me some great advice, "eat a yoghurt after everything you eat, because it doesn't taste bad when it comes back up" (great advice for someone who can't eat or drink dairy because it gives me migraines)

andadietcoke Thu 24-Jan-13 10:09:54

badguider nope, I have a fear of a mmc too. I'd never heard of it before MN, and because I spent a lot of time on mc threads after mine, I can't forget about it, and every time I get excited, or think, 'ooh, 7 weeks', or think about planning a private scan for 8 weeks, I remember things can go wrong between 8 and 12 weeks, and lots of the people I've come across with MMCs seemed to lose their babies at 8 or 9 weeks.

jm233 Thu 24-Jan-13 10:17:59

Good luck Carrie! Hope it's really good!

I think mmc is so scary because it would just hit you there and then at the scan- there is no way to prepare for it. And it will always just be there, like the underlying fear of the pregnancy (I feel fine, I know it's not ectopic, I know I've not had a mc, but there is always this one other thing...)

swaye Thu 24-Jan-13 10:33:47

5+1 today and took my vitamin supp this mornin coz i forgot last night. So not sure if what im feeling is the first sign of MS or the vitamins... I had a good porridge breakfast so wasnt on an empty stomach.... Feeling green!!!

My boobs were huge to start with (34G!)....I can't understand why they need any more breast tissue, but they hurt like hell so I reckon it looks like I'm going to end up with a pair of air bags! Just 1 week til my holiday....off to invest in a bigger sports bra 2day but no idea what to do about the bikini situation...

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Thu 24-Jan-13 11:18:12

Ooh, I didn't tell you guys...
I've been worrying about telling my boss. When I told my employer about my first pg years ago, she basically fired me on the spot, and I had to take her to tribunal. It was a long depressing process. Anyway, I now have quite a physical job, and am self employed. Because of all the past shit, I don't have much faith in employers, and was really worried he would be vile about it....
Anyway, he was LOVELY! grin I told him in the car on the way back from dinner, and he was really sweet. I've got to pace myself, listen to my body, do what I can, and we will work round my requirements! <<relief>>
I am so impressed with this pregnancy, the only person who appears to be remotely worried is me! confused I haven't had one negative comment from anyone! This is so unusual for my life, im starting to think this baby is a bit charmed! <<wishful thinking>> it's got to be a good sign though, right? wink

PurplePoppySeed Thu 24-Jan-13 13:12:35

With you all on the MMC risk as I had one in November. I got to 8 weeks when they found it, but it had stopped growing at 5-6.

The worst thing was the symptoms I had from week 5 continued, so this time I'm really trying not to get too attached until my scan next week. Hard to say, but I'm trying not to remember EDD or plan anything just yet!

I'm being much more strict on resting, eating well and relaxing this time!

SpanishLady Thu 24-Jan-13 13:15:25

Hi Saggy - yes it is a great omen!! and why should people be negative? you already have great kids (im sure) so this baby is lucky to have you!

Hi purple - if you dont mind my asking why did they find out at 8 weeks? did you have a private scan?

CarrieJayne Thu 24-Jan-13 13:17:12

That's great news saggy, restores your faith in people a bit doesn't it? And it's nice to be pleasantly surprised!

Good news here, scan went well, dates were spot on so 7+4 today. Nice strong heartbeat, and the lovely lady told me chances of mc are below 2% now, so feeling ok (for the next couple of hours anyway). Now I just have to get through another four weeks before something else starts to worry me! She also said I've been lucky with no major symptoms, but not to get too smug as they can still hit up to 9/10 weeks. Eek.

CarrieJayne Thu 24-Jan-13 13:18:14

And congrats to you too Hooya! Exciting! Best £120 I've ever spent!

Kittenkatzen Thu 24-Jan-13 13:29:09

So lovely hearing about all the positive scans, and yay for your boss saggy smile

Onn the mmc front i'm just trying my best to ignore the possibility and think positively. We can't afford a private early scan so it's pretty much all i can do!

I've been doing my no-snacking experiment this morning, and have had one or two waves of definite but mild nausea. Going to eat lunch now and then try and have nothing until dinner, see what happens!

Kittenkatzen Thu 24-Jan-13 13:29:52

Never in my life have i tried to deliberately induce nausea before! grin

Creamtea1 Thu 24-Jan-13 13:30:27

All this talk of mmc is now really worrying me. Would you still get a positive test if you had mmc?

LexyMa Thu 24-Jan-13 13:35:15

Oh FFS. Two weeks ago I used the Hertfordshire self referral form on the NHS website to kick off the antenatal process. Form failed to submit (or rather it didn't give a reassuring confirmation page) so I waited, then on Monday I tried it again. Just had a call from a nice lady in midwife bookings at Watford General, saying the system isn't live until 4 Feb and now I have to go through my GP.

Ggahhh. Phoned GP reception and asked for a booking appt with midwife. "Oh, those are at the children's centre, you need to see the GP first." Nnnggggrgrgrg.

I am off work sick today so am overly grumpy. Managed to get a slot with my own GP at 6.45 today though which is unheard of. Will also try to get some advice about my horrible overactive snot producing sinuses too. It just feels like such a wasted use of GP time to say I'm pregnant. All I got last time was Emma's Sodding Diary and a long long wait to the booking appt at 10w.

badguider Thu 24-Jan-13 13:46:58

That's pretty rubbish Lexy - When I got my BFP I phoned the GP practice to ask how to register with a midwife, she said I had to see the GP... who just handed me a leaflet saying if you discover your pregnant you need to phone the midwifery service!!!
Great, lots of point in that appt then... some poor sick person could have taken that slot instead of me.

Anyway, midwifery services booked my booking in and scan appts in same phonecall for 30th Jan (8+0) and 5th March (12+5). The scan one is a week later than she first offered as i'm away skiing the previous week.

creamtea sorry to worry you about mmc.. we shouldn't worry too much as the risk is very low - that paper said just 1.3% for my circs (and i'm old smile) but it's why people tend not to share their news till after the first scan.

SGJ Thu 24-Jan-13 14:21:09

Had very bad morning & just wanted to vent here as would be unprofessional on Facebook or Twitter...
Have been feeling full of cold, headache, sore throat since Tuesday but since I only teach Tues & Weds all day then spend Thursday in meetings/planning/marking exams etc I thought I'll just push on through teaching days, take it easy on Thursday & recover properly when I'm home with DD on Friday...
However, after spending 2 days feeling rough, I then found out I was being sent to another campus to cover for someone who was off sick, JOY!! Anyway, the students there are notoriously badly behaved so I planned a great, fun session which was going brilliantly until one flipped out, completely out of nowhere, shouting at me, getting in my face and calling me a c**t!!!
Needless to say, after emailing my boss with an update, I finished my working day at 1pm and am now happily at home on the sofa trying to feel better. May have had a little cry on the way home! Bloody hormones and BLOODY TEENAGERS!!!
There, I'm done. As you were x

Cacks81 Thu 24-Jan-13 14:31:47

They can be horrid can't they? Just had one slam a door into me in anger! A day in isolation for him and a bruise for me!

But then there are the lovely ones, which are most of them. The ones who jumped to see if I was ok and said how rude he was. They were on my side. smile

These days are sent to try us! Would love to be home. Parents evening tonight. 4.30 to 8.30. Killer!

X

LexyMa Thu 24-Jan-13 14:36:41

Aw thanks badguider, exactly what I mean re taking up a sick person's appointment. I feel churlish for grumping about the system but why on earth does the form seem to go through if the system isn't meant to be live yet?

I should have done this earlier I suppose (am 8+2) as I am now twitching about getting a nuchal scan in time. I'm going skiing too, at 15 weeks. There may be more cafe based chilling out than black run blasting.

batfuttocks Thu 24-Jan-13 15:05:39

Back from my scan and pleased to report there is just one in there ( I made her have a good search around as I am paranoid about twins!) but I feel hugely relieved to have seen a heart beat and had my dates confirmed. Best eighty pounds I have spent recently!

Pleased to hear that we have had a few healthy scans today. grin

Nausea is still a killer. I really want the leggera pizza they do at pizza express with the prawns on - just been online though and apparently they have stopped making it! The buggers! I haven't fancied ANY food for ages, what are the odds that the first thing I actually want to eat, and I can't have it. Grump.

andadietcoke Thu 24-Jan-13 15:13:43

Glad your scan went well! I know what you mean about food disappointment. I nearly cried when M&S didn't have taramasalata last night. I've got some at lunch today and now am not that bothered about it. I've bought breakfast biscuits and oddities though. Bananas for breakfast really helped this morning - although there was some high level retching prior to lunch I wasn't actually sick. Can't believe I wished this on myself!

Creamtea1 Thu 24-Jan-13 15:40:13

Oddities are nice, I rediscovered Heinz tomato soup today - infact I've had to rediscover lunch as a whole really as to prevent feeling sick I just have to eat! It just feels like a never ending bad hangover, where sick/hungry are totally linked...bleurgh
And I bought some Haagen daz and a creme egg at lunch blush

cravingformilk Thu 24-Jan-13 16:22:11

Did someone mention food? grin It is all I think about, either because I'm starving or feeling sick. hmm

Just walked on from my scan and i'm happy to report there was a little flickering HB grin. I'm so chuffed right now. Seems like its been a good scan day today for a few of us.

Hope you're okay SGJ?

Whyriskit Thu 24-Jan-13 16:23:28

Glad all the scans are going well. I too have a massive fear of mmc although my odds will be similar to 1.3% too.
I know I saw a heartbeat at my scan last week but it seems so long til my dating scan.
My nausea has eased a bit but man, you should see my spots! DS2 (2.5) has very kindly been pointing them out! smile

cravingformilk Thu 24-Jan-13 16:25:37

Talking of oddities...a bowle of Heinz tomato soup and pasta mmmm

Creamtea1 Thu 24-Jan-13 17:04:12

Ooh that would be nice, with pasta, and maybe done grated cheese on top to go all melty? Soooo hungry again!
My DH is being really annoying and all January healthy eating so I'm dreaming of curry and cheeseburger and ribs for dinner and he wants fish cakes and stir fry and small portions of HEALTH pah sad

fl0b0t Thu 24-Jan-13 17:59:54

Haha, I seem to feel sick and hungry at the same time! Can I ask what a mmc is? Different to a normal Mc?

batfuttocks Thu 24-Jan-13 18:07:28

Missed miscarriage - in other words, no bleeding to indicate a problem, and the miscarriage is only picked up at scan. The baby stops growing but the hormones don't drop enough to permit bleeding. It's therefore a huge shock when you have assumed everything must be ok.

Just eaten beef stirfry with noodles and black bean sauce. A long way from the leggera pizza I was hoping for but after searching two supermarkets unsuccessfully, with both children in tow, I am just relieved I found something I could fancy. Was yum actually. And far better for me than anything I have managed in recent weeks,

kimjayne Thu 24-Jan-13 19:50:09

can i ask how you arrange a private scan? i wasnt sure about getting one initially due yo cost but its driving me mad not knowing what's going on in there? I live in Manchester. Anyone else out there in MN world booked a private scan around Manch? x

HettySunshine Thu 24-Jan-13 19:57:51

Oo, watching with interest as to the responses, Kimjayne. I live in Macclesfield and was wondering the same!

LexyMa Thu 24-Jan-13 19:58:35

Well I went to my GP pre-booking appointment this evening and she sympathised and joined me whinging about the self referral system. So now I have an A4 booklet which will be my antenatal notes, and Emma's Marketing Diary of course.

Very pleased that my blood pressure is 100/60. I am one of the most chilled out people you can meet, but have been lacking in fitness recently so was a bit concerned I might have started clogging up inside. The disadvantage of low bp is fainting of course, so I will need to 'carb up' for my skiing holiday!

Phone up tomorrow for MW booking appt which will then trigger scan dates. All seeming real now!

Celosia Thu 24-Jan-13 20:10:01

Hi there - if anyone can edit my details please!!! I've no idea how to do it!!! 15 September Dc5. (Well maybe 5&6 - my dr thinks I'm huge! First appointment 7 Feb....

Thank you smile

Eeeknumber3 Thu 24-Jan-13 20:15:59

hiya KimJayne and Hetty, I live in Buxton and have just booked an early scan today in Stockport with ultrasoundnow. I just looked for the one that was nearest to me. I believe they have clinics in Cheadle and somewhere else too. I know that the Spire Regency in Macc do early reassurance scans too Hetty, but they tended to be in the evening, which is trickier for me with a nosey 4 and 6 year old! I went to the Regency for nuchal fold tests in both other pregnancies and will be going back, they were excellent.
The lady at ultrasound now was very helpful and booked me in for the day I turn 7 weeks, they can't do them before then. If you know Stockport it's after the college, more or less opposite the Town Hall (used to be a hell hole of a pub, that I may have frequented wink). I've never been to them before, but they get decent reviews and are about middle of the road for price at £95. HTH xxx
linky if helps http://www.ultrasoundnow.co.uk/

SGJ Thu 24-Jan-13 20:17:04

Thanks, cravingformilk, I'm ok. Just disgusted with the girl. Considering our course is pretty much a 'last chance' option, it still sometimes amazes me how obnoxious and disrespectful some of them can be.
And of course, irrationally, I just want to moan to my boss "but I'm pregnant!!!!" but I won't be telling them until well after 12 weeks as I may have something else at the college in the pipeline and the people on my current team are terrible gossips, can't trust them with anything.
But enough moaning from me, going to bed early again, tomorrow is a new day!
Congrats to all ladies who had scans today, lovely news! grin

HettySunshine Thu 24-Jan-13 20:26:12

Thanks Eeek. Still not sure if I will have one - I feel fine and nothing to suggest there are any problems (touch wood!) but it's good to know that the option is there and not too expensive!

This is my first pregnancy and it's all so scary!

Massive thanks to everyone for all the advice grin xx

andadietcoke Thu 24-Jan-13 20:34:22

I've been looking at Ultrasound Now at The Alex at Cheadle. Wonder if we'll get a discount for booking four!!

Rosyisgonnabeamummy Thu 24-Jan-13 20:44:00

I think it's fascinating that so many of us are having the same triggers for nausea. Milk is a defo no no for me. The smell of it is enough to make a balk.
But melted cheese is ok. I'm a bit worried I'm not getting enough calcium / vit d. And the pregnecare multi vit isn't good either. I think it's the zinc.

Taramasalata is a creamy, smooth texture like hummus but its almost sweet in taste...... Fabulous with warm pitta and a squeeze of lemon. Mmmmmmmmmmm

I thought the advice on morning sickness / nausea was little and often, 6 small meals rather than 3 larger ones. ..... Ginger and lemon tea is my best friend anyway.

Much love to those who have stepped off the bus. There for the grace of god go I.

X

fl0b0t Thu 24-Jan-13 20:52:30

Cheers for the interpretation.

Hetty- yes is is scary! Husband and I have been trying to come up with other words that sound less negative like "daunting". It's our first too- been trying for a while so very pleased it's happening whilst also being terrified.

Does anyone else start every sentence will "If all goes well...."? I feel like I'm slightly jinxing things if not, and I'm trying very hard not to presume that all will go perfectly! I've got enough friends with children to know all about the kinds of hiccups and problems one can encounter.

Food wise, today I found that small chocolate chip brioche is the nuts! They're carby, sweet, easy to eat and small so they go down well!

Today when I got home from work, I ate a tiny portion of dinner (husband made yesterday), slowly ate a yoghurt, had a hot bath and now I'm in bed watching Homeland on dvd. I'm so glad that most of my friends are away on holiday or really busy at work (or poor!) in January because they would seriously know something is wrong! It's all I can do to crawl into bed at night vaguely clean!

batfuttocks Thu 24-Jan-13 20:53:28

I went with this is my (odd name) which owns the Leeds screening centre. In Leeds, funnily enough! Eighty pounds, self referral. They have centres in hull and Manchester I think, and other places. They are very good - I wasn't especially worried I suppose but just reached a point where I was struggling to keep "neutral" just in case of a problem. Feel I have passed hurdle one: heartbeat. Next hurdle is the nuchal. Then got to get an ok at 20 week scan. After that, I am happy to start believing there will be a baby at the end!!

batfuttocks Thu 24-Jan-13 20:57:16

Yes to similar cravings too! Milk, bleugh. Melted cheese and Heinz tomato soup, good. Marmite, good. Very wafer thin slices of crisp cold apple, when super sickly, good.

Oddly though I have asked husband to return home with all bran and ice cold skimmed milk ( can't be doing with creamy shit) for brekkie tomorrow. Am sure by then the idea will be grim, but for five minutes tonight I was all over it!

amiready Thu 24-Jan-13 21:46:21

Oh goodness - having to negotiate the maternity leave in my contract - it's all out of date and wrong. I'm sure they'll guess - I keep having to point things out! Aggggh! So bloody annoying and stressful! My boss keeps lying to me and the manager about what I've said. He's turning out to be quite manipulative but I can't leave now without losing all my mat leave entitlement. Just feeling a bit trapped. Keep waking up at 2am rewriting it all in my head and arguing with them in my mind! All I can think about it 'my baby's nervous system is developing and I'm going round like a stress head, what's going to happen to it!' Long term behavioural problems or something??!! Just wish we could get the thing signed and put the whole thing behind me. Really scared they are going to guess and just turn round and say 'no, bye bye'.

KamikazeeKid Thu 24-Jan-13 22:09:56

Flobot, MMC is a missed miscarriage. I had one at 7 weeks during my first pregnancy.
I never had bleeding or pain I just knew it had happened! They wouldnt listen for awhile and scanned me at 9 weeks where they told me I HAD lost at 7 weeks like I thought!! My symptoms completely stopped and o just knew, very odd. As I didnt lose naturally I had a d&c.
With my son I had days where symptoms disappeared and that worried me but they came back in waves!

Ive got to admit I've not read all the posts about MCs here too much as I spent so much time worrying last time! And it sets me off again! It stopped me enjoying things but I had another mc but that was early on following a nasty illness :-(

My DS arrived safe and sound finally though :-)

I'm worrying again this time despite an NHS suggested early scan showing a heartbeat but I get much less time to obsess about pregnancy this time round but I know we ladies can't help it!!

4 weeks to my 12 week scan....which will be at 11+1

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Thu 24-Jan-13 22:49:42

GRRR! Im stuck in bodily function HELL! Im trying to drink my 2 litres a day, to try and help the constipation. So now, I either cant poo, or I cant stop weeing!!! WHAT FUN! hmm confused grin

Kittenkatzen Fri 25-Jan-13 07:24:07

Oooh....I feel a bit pukey on the train this morning! <sips ginger tea and smiles to self like a loon>

catpuss have you tried knocking back a pint or two of fresh orange juice?

kimjayne Fri 25-Jan-13 08:25:42

thanks for the tips on Manchester based private scans! I emailed the one in Stockprt last night. So fingers crossed they can fit me in.one day next week. smile
Feeling like death warmed up today. So glad i have no plans tomorrow. Blluuuurrhhh
How's everyone else?

hackneybird Fri 25-Jan-13 08:53:39

I'm feeling shocking as well. Really tired and nauseous.

We're moving house in the next week or two. Terrible timing! But we're going from a small 2 bed flat to a big 4 bed house so it's the right thing to do. Looking forward to the extra space.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers Fri 25-Jan-13 08:59:47

saggy me too! It alternates days! Some days I can't poo and some days i can't stop peeing!! grin

Creamtea1 Fri 25-Jan-13 09:21:11

I feel ROUGH, like a major league hangover. The OJ tip is a good one for constipation but I don't know if I can face it!

jm233 Fri 25-Jan-13 09:30:15

Can someone tell me what the story is with being ill (cold/flu) with bump? I woke up with a sore throat this morning. Don't feel too bad otherwise but the scratchy throat is definitely there. Is it right that it can only harm the baby if you run a fever?

Re poos- I find that my mid morning coffee really helps! I initially thought that if being decaf will put a stop to all it's laxative goodness but I think it still works, for me at least.

It's scan day today!!!!! I am SO nervous.

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers Fri 25-Jan-13 09:43:20

jm233 I had days of fever very early on around the 4 week mark. Of course we don't know what effect that had yet - hopefully none!!- but the doctor didn't seem terribly fussed though I did keep track of my temps and show him. He also said it was ok to take paracetamol and I did a lot of Internet research which suggests that high fever is the problem and basically one should be trying to get that down. I also had a terrible cough and cold for about two weeks but the doctor didn't seem worried about it via a vis the pregnancy. Maybe speak with your GP just in case?

ZombiesAreClammyDodgers Fri 25-Jan-13 09:44:10

And all the best for your scan! How many weeks are you at?

andadietcoke Fri 25-Jan-13 09:46:09

Ooh kim let me know how accommodating they are. I might try and book one for Wednesday as I'm off all day as I've got my booking in appointment.

Felt so ill in the car this morning, but have just forced grapefruit down and feel a bit better. So far I've only been sick in the evenings which is better from a work point of view, so can hopefully keep that up. Back's really achey though - does anyone else have this? Dr Google says it's normal, but it's still freaking me out.

SaggyOldPregnantCatpuss Fri 25-Jan-13 09:54:36

Can't drink OJ, and don't drink coffee! I'm going for a huge bunch of grapes!
Today's misery is being out on a market stall. The cold is playing havoc with my breasts, they feel like they're going to fall off! confused

badguider Fri 25-Jan-13 10:59:59

andadietcoke - what stage are you at? My pelvis did something really odd about 5-6weeks, i got lots of stretching ligament pains around my hip bones and pelvic bone at the front and a sore lower back, but it all seems to have settled down now into a new position (7+2).

andadietcoke Fri 25-Jan-13 11:18:59

badguider somewhere between 7 and 7+4. Moving around can normally relieve it, and it doesn't feel crampy, so I'm hoping it's just stretching. I've not had stomach cramps at all (which I had with my mc) and nothing apart from the occasional very pale brown discharge, which again Dr Google says not to worry about.

Going to get through to Wednesday and the booking in, and see what the mw says.

Eeeknumber3 Fri 25-Jan-13 11:30:22

oooof just demolished an enormous cheese and morrisons cheese coleslaw sandwich, just cannot get enough of the cheese!! Lovingly layered salt and vinegar crisps on it too...mmmm. Earned it though, as have spent an hour clearing the drive in minus 2 degrees to get car out to take DD to docs as she has croup I think! Has anyone ever had a child with slapped cheek? Am worrying she may have that, as she has very red cheeks...according to NHS site, it's dangerous to pregnant women, if they've never had it. Don't know if I've had it or not?!
Lunch is getting earlier and earlier, I am desperate not to be massive, but does not look good. This baby is never going to be small as DS1 was 9lb and DD1 was 8lb 5oz...other mums with kids, how big were your others?xx

Eeeknumber3 Fri 25-Jan-13 11:32:34

JM, I think you're ok, as long as you keep on top of your temp. Like you said, paracetamol are fine all the way through pg. I had horrific gastroenteritis with DS1 at about 20 weeks and was so worried, but all was well x get well soon

jm233 Fri 25-Jan-13 12:00:24

Thanks for the advice guys! I'm sure ill be fine, but will go to GP if it gets worse.

Thanks zombies, I'm 8 weeks tomorrow! I'm trying not to think about the scan too much but every time I remember its today I have my heart in my mouth!

I just did my Tesco shop online and it took me about an hour and a half, cause most things I intended up get made me feel sick at just the thought. Instead I ended up with more taramasalata and other great things like marshmallow rice crispy squares! YY to milk being yucky all of the sudden! I have a milky tea every morning with DH but I think today may well have been the last one of those...

Creamtea1 Fri 25-Jan-13 12:46:38

Got my scan appt thru, 25th feb smile
Why oh why are evil carbs the only thing that keeps the sick feeling at bay! So far today have had brioche, toast and a white roll - will be massive but also know that eating the evil carbs only makes the sick feeling worse in another hour or so because of the blood sugar spikes sad
But there is no way I could face anything protein based...

andadietcoke Fri 25-Jan-13 12:52:22

Today I've discovered Hovis breakfast biscuits. They're brilliant, and are individually wrapped, so think they'll be a handbag staple for a while. I've also had two bananas and a grapefruit and a pack of wotsits. Hmmm.

The only time I ever actually want to eat anything is after I've been sick. shock

jm233 Fri 25-Jan-13 13:11:40

Grapefruit. Yes!

LexyMa Fri 25-Jan-13 13:19:59

Colds and flu are common in first trimester because your body lowers its immunity so as not to reject the embryo. I am off work again today with my cold. Slept in the spare room last night, except that I woke at 4am needing a wee, realised I had probably been on my back absolutely motionless for 6 hours (I sleep like the dead) and as expected getting up to wee started all the mucous moving and draining so I spent the next two hours coughing and spluttering.

I have a bag of M&S fruit gums in my hand now. Thought about the Percy pigs, but went for the gums. Mine.All.Mine. smile

kimjayne Fri 25-Jan-13 13:22:50

Andadietcoke - I haven't had a response on email from the scan place! So am going to call the when I get my next break. I will keep you posted! Fingers crossed! smile Would really put my mind at rest.

Food update - Just DEMOLISHED a greggs sausage roll - first time I have ever even been inside a Greggs I think! Could be my first random craving perhaps?. God it was goooood! smile haha

On another note, has anyone else got really sore gums? I figure it's just down to the amount I am being sick at the mo sad And the acids etc are probably attacking my gums (that's what I gathered from google anyway). But you can't use Bonjela in pregnancy apparently due to the Asprin content! I have been washing my mouth out a million times a day with water. But it doesnt seem to help much.

Any tips? sad

Wincher Fri 25-Jan-13 13:51:23

Try Corsodyl mouthwash, kimjayne - it's good for sore/infected/bleeding gums. It does make everything else taste horrible for hours after though!

I don't fancy any foods at the moment - I don't feel hungry for ages but then it suddenly hits and I have to try to find something I can eat sharpish. Then I belch repeatedly for hours with the flavours coming back again and again! Yuck!

kimjayne Fri 25-Jan-13 14:08:05

oh thanks Wincher. I got similar advice from the pharmacist in Boots as it happens! Just popped in there quickly and she said same thing as you.

Has anybody else had similar gum problems? Or just me?

CrikeeThree Fri 25-Jan-13 14:20:14

I'm so fed up sad
I'm throwing up every day. Multiple times now.
At first, every morning. Then yesterday morning and evening.
Today I puked this morning for about an hour (on and off), went to work feelign grim, had some toast mid-morning, and later some soup, puked again about half an hour ago.
But in between I'm STARVING. But can't actually face most things.

Right now I'm eating ready salted hula hoops as I reeeeeally fancied them. But I'm sure that's the "wrong" thing to eat if I'm puking all the time.

But then I just feel like... if I'm going to puke anyway (which apparently I am) then I might as well eat what I want in between blush

Feeling so sorry for myself. sad Any tips?? I wasn't sick like this with DS1 and DS2!!

kimjayne Fri 25-Jan-13 14:30:36

CrikeeThree - I am so glad it's not just me. I was literally sick in the shower this morning. There was no time to aim for the loo even. It just comes in waves throughout the day.

The only time I don't feel sick is when I am asleep and even that's not entirely true as I wake up at 6am on the dot every morning to puke .. although at that time of day there's nothing inside me to bring up so it's just that horrid wretching feeling that pulls at your stomach.

This is my first time so I had no idea what to expect. I really didn't see this coming though. Bit naive of me really.

My only tip is to nibble on things through the day, try not to eat any large meals as these just make you sick. I find keeping a bag of grapes on my desk helps. Today I have some carrot sticks and plums too. Avoid being full or starving! That's my top tip. xxx good luck.

CrikeeThree Fri 25-Jan-13 14:38:45

thanks kimjayne
I'm sorry you're going through it, too, but it somehow feels better to know I'm not the only one...
I seem to have kept the hulahoops down!! So am keeping fingers crossed.... smile

PurplePoppySeed Fri 25-Jan-13 15:01:41

Spanish - I got early scans last time as ive had gynae issues for years, had a rather large ovarian cyst burst in August, but got pregnant in September which was a surprise, they scanned me at 5 and 8 weeks as I was still having ovary pain and it needed to be checked due to known adhesions etc in the area. This time they are doing an 8 week early scan as my doc referred me to EPU for the same reasons. I'm quite lucky in that sense, but I've had 10 years of horrible gynae issues to 'earn' it wink

CarrieJayne Fri 25-Jan-13 15:06:05

My gums starting bleeding yesterday evening when i cleaned my teeth, and i have ulcers. I feel generally run down today, and just off on the Hen weekend so am sure I am going to have a grumpy, tired weekend (Saturday involves 2 rounds of laser quest, a dance class, a three course dinner and a club). I'm tired just thinking about it sad. Feeling very sorry for myself, can you tell?!

badguider Fri 25-Jan-13 15:10:38

I have so much sympathy for those of you who are actually puking sad
I am feeling sick all day long but not actually being sick thankfully.
