June 2013 tentative start of thread

(997 Posts)

Hi, anyone else out there who may be at the very earliest point of pg? I haven't taken a test yet but feeling nauseous and tired and thinking this is it

MrsJLS85 Thu 20-Sep-12 14:24:19

Hi! Wow, it is early, but I will tentatively climb onboard. I'm 10dpo and just tested today and got a very faint but for sure BFP. Estimated Due date is June 3rd 2013. Its super early I know, and I have had 2 MCs so am very very nervous.... Fx!

Princessllama have you taken a test?

Onemoreforgoodmeasure Thu 20-Sep-12 17:45:10

Hello you two! I'm 10dpo today and this morning got a 1-2 weeks pregnant on the stick! When will you test princessllama? MrsJLS85, I mc'd in March at 11 weeks. I'm also incredibly nervous!

McKayz Fri 21-Sep-12 10:45:57

Hello!!

Just wanted to pop in and offer congratulations. This was me last year and my June 2012 baby is now 3 months old.

Hope all goes well for you!

woodysmummy Sun 23-Sep-12 11:38:47

hi i am 4 +2/40 with my first pregnancy and due june first. Feeling very anxious and paranoid that so early and things could go wrong but trying to focus on the positives of sore boobs and feeling sick if i dont eat regularly. dont know how i am going to cope waiting for first scan, debating paying for a 7/40 scan just to check all ok. Are you guys getting much pregnancy symptoms yet?

Onemoreforgoodmeasure Sun 23-Sep-12 16:54:19

Hello Woody! The other two haven't been back yet, I've just been keeping an eye on this thread to see if anyone else joined so I'm very glad to see you! I'm not even 4 weeks yet. I got a ridiculously early BFP, I'm only 13 dpo today, and that was from a freakishly 5 day early opk that we nearly missed! I'm jealous of your nausea, I've got sore boobs and bleeding gums. I'm really tired but struggling to sleep, I think partially because I can't stop thinking about this pregnancy. I definitely plan on paying for an early scan. It looks like £95 for my peace of mind. Have you looked up the proces where you are? I'm a little put offf that the only place near me that does it is a Harley street off shoot that otherwise does cosmetic surgeries shock. When are you due?

FrustratedSycamorePants Sun 23-Sep-12 17:45:53

Hello. <waves> I'm 4+0/40. 4 tests (fr, frer and cbdigi) over past 3 days says yes. Very slightly excited. Slighty nauseous, and my bra cups are full. Boobs were the only symptom that convinced me. They don't hurt yet, but are getting there. I don't sleep properly anyway, so tiredness may
I've come over from conception threads. and have a bus style Fred on here, with some others who have come from a rather successful September bus.

Onemoreforgoodmeasure Sun 23-Sep-12 18:27:41

Hi Frustrated! Is this your first pregnancy?

MrsJLS85 Sun 23-Sep-12 19:14:02

Hi Ladies! And welcome to newcomers! I'm 13dpo and still really really nervous about this all, but the sore boobs, and really strong + HPTs are somewhat reasurring - still knicker checking like crazy. I think I will also be going for early scan at 7 weeks. Shall we start a stats list with our tentative due dates?

MrsJLS85 - DC2 - June 3rd

Onemoreforgoodmeasure Sun 23-Sep-12 19:30:42

Welcome back MrsJLS85!

So are we all going for early scans?

MrsJLS85 - DC2 - June 3rd
Onemoreforgoodmeasure - DC1 - June 4th

FrustratedSycamorePants Sun 23-Sep-12 19:39:53

onemore 3rd. And no early scan.

MrsJLS85 - DC2 - June 3rd
Frustratedsycamorepants - DC3 - June 3rd
Onemoreforgoodmeasure - DC1 - June 4th

Onemoreforgoodmeasure Mon 24-Sep-12 09:42:59

Wow frustrated congratulations!

I'm sitting here supposedly working, but in truth am struggling to stay awake. I had reduced coffee use to a cup or two medium/weak strength but decided to cut it out entirely after I got my BFP last week, and I'm suffering!

Are any of you struggling with early changes?

How are everyone's symptoms coming along?

FrustratedSycamorePants Mon 24-Sep-12 09:47:50

Lack of caffeine is killing me!

MrsJLS85 Mon 24-Sep-12 12:45:45

Definitely missing the caffeine! I am also quite tired, and have quite a bit of dull cramps (which somewhat worries me, but I know how common it can be!)

FrustratedSycamorePants Mon 24-Sep-12 13:09:57

Could it be wind mrs?

MrsJLS85 Mon 24-Sep-12 13:41:13

most likely! I was quite the wind machine last time around!

Onemoreforgoodmeasure Mon 24-Sep-12 16:54:04

I've been full of wind since shortly after conception. blush. Hope it's that for you Mrs! I keep having occassional weird feelings and when I google the possible causes I draw a blank, not round ligament, not that tubal pg thing. Today I had some cramping after lunch but, ahem, think it was digestion related! I've started drinking decaf coffee because it tastes nice and has a tiny bit of caffiene!

FrustratedSycamorePants Mon 24-Sep-12 21:18:31

Does decaf actually have caffeine in it? What a con. grin
I'm tres windy. It's not a good symptom. Although until I get a scan or hear a heart beat, I'll try to relish it.

EddieIzzardIsOrange Mon 24-Sep-12 22:31:06

Hi, can I join too? I poas today (toilets at work - classy!) and got a bfp! Was a clearblue so no squinting at lines trying to see if they're there or not! EDD is June 2nd I think but weirdly had a dream where I had a baby on June 5th so we'll see!
This is our second DC, DS is 20 months so 2 and a half-ish when this one comes

Hows everyone else?

MrsJLS85 Tue 25-Sep-12 07:13:10

Welcome Eddie and congrats on BFP!

Its still such early days, and I keep going back and forth between excitement and extremely nervous. I've had two Mcs so really want this one to be sticky!
Another symptom started last night: the extreme crazy dreams! I do remember this from last time.

woodysmummy Tue 25-Sep-12 12:42:06

heloo glad to see there are more of us now smile So exciting My boobs feel massiev but nause anot as bad bit worried this is a bad sign! can sympathise with wind issues ! so embarressing!!! I have booked a viability scan for 13 th october at a place near wheer i work in st helens claled hello baby - only 50 pounds and worth it i think. has everyone given up caffeine completely? i am still alowing myself a cna of diet coke - only 40mcg without it i am horrible!!!

woodysmummy Tue 25-Sep-12 12:43:25

oops forgot i am due 1.6.13 - about 2 weeks before our first wedding anniversary smile

EddieIzzardIsOrange Tue 25-Sep-12 13:14:18

woodysmummy what lovely timing! This one is also anniversary linked - think we conceived on that day which is nice, especially since we gotten engaged on that day too! Been a busy few weeks!

Boobs (well nipples - are we getting into the tmi early?!) are so sore, even just having clothes over them hurts. Been having some stomach cramps though so not moaning about other symptoms too much while they're positive and stopping me worrying that somethings wrong...

Has anyone told people yet? We did the day we found out with DS but promised to keep it to ourselves a bit longer this time...having lunch with a friend tomorrow though who I'll tell, she's 9 weeks now so we can do some whinging together while our boys play!

Onemoreforgoodmeasure Tue 25-Sep-12 13:59:39

Yes, Frustrated decaf has minimal amounts, I think it's something like 95-99% caffiene free!

Welcome Eddie congratulations!

I share your worry Mrs. It's so hard to just get into it. I would have been due in two weeks so I'm hoping after that period passes I will be able to move forward a bit more with this pregnancy.

I actually belched in a meeting today, twice, one upon the other, they were small and hopefully quiet, but because they caught me off guard I probably drew more attention to myself flailing my arms about! blush

My symptoms haven't developed any but it's still early days, I was only cd22 when I got my BFP, today is cd 27.

And yes the dreams! Why is that, does anyone know?

How sweet the timings of your babies Woody and Eddie. Sorry to read about your cramps Eddie, hopefully that passes quickly. Yesterday, or was it the day before? I had a weird feeling like tiny pins were being stuck in my womb all over, I'm hoping that was just some initial growth spurt confused.

I've told a few people Eddie, mostly people who knew about the mc.

I've just updated the stats list, so nice to have a group of us now!

Woddysmummy due June 1st
Eddieizardisorange due June 2nd (June 5th if dream is foretelling!)
MrsJLS85 due June 3rd
Frustratedsycamorepants June 3rd
Onemoreforgoodmeasure due June 4th

FrustratedSycamorePants Tue 25-Sep-12 14:56:52

woodysmummy Tue 25-Sep-12 16:29:54

ah anniversay babies eddie smile fabulous smile fingers corssed for lots of gorgeous June bambinos smile

EddieIzzardIsOrange Wed 26-Sep-12 09:01:15

Hi, hows everyone today?

I have my midwife appointment later today - know its early but I have to get referred back to consultant and that might take a few weeks so thought I'd do it pretty soon.

Also want to ask about/get them prepared for me having a homebirth (all going well in pregnancy) and want that on my notes as soon as too...anyone had any experience of these?

MrsJLS85 Wed 26-Sep-12 12:39:20

Hi Eddie - no experience with home birth no. We have an excellent brand new Midwife-led unit just 2 minutes down the road from us, so we're lucky in thats the best choice for us. But I can see if your only option is massive oversubscribed state hospital, or homebirth, then homebirth sounds like the best choice! Good luck!

I'm not thinking so far ahead lol, just trying to get through another day without bleeding. After 2 Mcs I'm just so nervous... I'm having loads of cramps and pains, but nothing has caused any bleeding yet, so I'm just really hoping its my uterus stretching and getting ready.

Found a lovely decaff coffee for my coffee maker, yum, can't even tell the difference!

Onemoreforgoodmeasure Wed 26-Sep-12 12:49:12

Hi guys, Eddie you are on the ball! My preference will be for a lovely place about a 30 minute drive away. Failing that, i.e. more likely, I will be in a big hospital a few minutes drive away. I would love a home birth but lack confidence, might reconsider it later.

Mrs I hear you, I woke up this morning with less painful boobs and I had sharp pains quite a few times yesterday so am also a bit on the anxious side. Are you and I both 16 dpo today? I'm only cd 28 today, really wish I hadn't found out so soon.

I'm also loving the decaf coffee!

preggersbycheggers Wed 26-Sep-12 13:06:51

Hi
I am going to very gingerly step into this thread!

I am 5 weeks with my second child.

Just had a MC which shocked me to the core so I have everything crossed here!! I have had a few symptoms including boobs growing and twinges in the boobs and a little nausea. No sickness yet but I wasn't sick with my DS.

So hi all!

Onemoreforgoodmeasure Wed 26-Sep-12 13:14:40

Hi Preggers, welcome and congratulations on your BFP, I think we're all stepping a bit gingerly still! Sorry to hear about your mc, there are a couple of us here.

MrsJLS85 Wed 26-Sep-12 13:21:14

yup onemore I'm 16 dpo today but on CD 37! I ov'd really late but caught it thanks to Clearblue smiley opks. I tested on 10dpo and got a faint but obvious BFP and was so excited to see a bfp so early. When I tested again on 14dpo (Monday) it was really dark and appeared right away so I do hope that thats a good sign that HCG is doubling as it should

Welcome newbies and congrats on Bfps! Yes there will be a lot of hand holding in these early weeks. FX for us all

Onemoreforgoodmeasure Wed 26-Sep-12 16:59:56

I just binge ate a small packet of crisps and a packet of peanut m&m's... Note to self, carry proper snacks even if you don't think you'll need them...oh the shame!

FrustratedSycamorePants Wed 26-Sep-12 20:53:50

onemore did you dunk you crisps into your coffee? just me then blush couldn't drink the coffee afterwards confused

I slipped on wet rocks at the beach earlier (walking dog) bloody shit myself not literally didn't fall over, and thankfully didn't end up on my arse in the water, but it was close. Then panicked. refrained from pant checking there and then decided I'm not talking any more silly risks like walking over wet rocks for another 36 weeks.

Onemoreforgoodmeasure Wed 26-Sep-12 22:04:26

Careful frustrated! Is it bad that I laugh at myself and others when we slip?! W think we're going one way and then our bodies decide to stray from the plan! And thanks for the tips re food. Honestly, I was on a quiet but reasonably full train chomping away. I couldn't stop myself but was suitably embarrassed, I must have looked crazy!

preggersbycheggers Thu 27-Sep-12 07:06:24

Morning all.

I have just POAS again and the conception indicator now says 2-3 weeks. Which is what I was hoping it would say. It was at 1-2 weeks when I first tested.

Still no symptoms here really. Felt slightly sick yesterday which was soon abated with a hot cross bun!

EddieIzzardIsOrange Thu 27-Sep-12 08:50:39

Onemore Its more that we have no-one suitable to look after DS (20 months now so 2 and a half at edd) so the options are leave him with someone we're not comfortable with and be thinking of that/worying while trying to labour, DP staying with DS and me being in hospital labouring alone which the thought of scares me a bit or have baby at home and have the full one-to-one support of a midwife and DP can be around if DS doesnt need him at that minute (asleep/entertained with a dvd etc)...just feels the best option for us

I second the snack thing - DP came home with a big multi-pack of crunchies, they have barely lasted 3 days! Also at work (I'm a youth worker) there is a tuck shop, a whole room filled with chocolate, crisps, cookies, muffins...normally I'm pretty good but I must have spent my wage in there over the past week!

Preggers Hi, hope you're ok? Although your name did make me retch a bit when I thought of the mental images of a naked Keith Chegwin!

Frustrated Hope you're ok, its scary isnt it, thinking you're going to fall? Stick to nice flat paths for the next few months!

Hows everyone today?

suzyrut Thu 27-Sep-12 16:40:12

Hi all would love to join too. Got a bfp on Tuesday evening and am super excited but have agreed not to say anything to anyone for a while and dp had to leave for a work trip to US on Wednesday morning (leaving wallet at home, he's in shock bless him) so am really pleased to have people to share all this stuff with! Not exactly sure on due date as only came off the pill at end of August thinking it would take ages as I'm 37 but no, didn't have an af so guessed due date is 2nd June from on-line calculators. Have ds of 12 and dd of 9 from previous marriage and it seems like everything's changed since then (you have to reduce caffeine intake omg!).

Onemoreforgoodmeasure Thu 27-Sep-12 16:48:27

Preggers, I also poased this morning and was reassured by the stick say 2-3. In fairness it could still have said 1-2, this being the 2, so I was comforted. My symptoms haven't really shifted, I'm getting more spots though, ffs.

Eddie, I didn't realise would be so much better, if not vital, for you to be at home. Fx you don't have to go in. And I would not last a minute with a tuck shop at my beck and call!

Hi Suzy! Welcome and congratulations!

wineandcakeplease Thu 27-Sep-12 16:52:40

Can I join please! I am expecting no. 2 on 3rd June! Yippee

FrustratedSycamorePants Thu 27-Sep-12 17:57:08

Hi suzy hi wine, snap wine in the 3rd too. grin congrats of BFPs.

dreamydays Thu 27-Sep-12 20:52:15

Hello ladies! Congrats to you all. Can I join you? Got my bfp this morning, EDD around June 5th. I haven't told a soul as DH is away until tomorrow evening.

I've had two mc's in the last year, most recently in July, so am a bit of a worrywart...but fingers crossed this will be the one!

Jojoba1986 Thu 27-Sep-12 22:19:03

Oh this is where everyone's hiding tonight! I'm due June 7th with newly named Lickle Pickle! Anyone else given their 'poppy seed's a name yet?

Eddie I had a homebirth with DS - I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have! We didn't need to worry about the 'safety' issue as we're only a few minutes drive away from the hosp anyway!

EddieIzzardIsOrange Fri 28-Sep-12 09:17:11

Jojoba That'd be great thanks! Would you rather me PM you or ask on here?

And yea, this one is being referred to as 'Pup'! (Ds was 'Blob'!)

Jojoba1986 Fri 28-Sep-12 09:23:09

Here is fine! smile

EddieIzzardIsOrange Fri 28-Sep-12 09:33:44

Ok, here goes!

1. How supportive were the midwives etc when you asked for it? Did you face any arguments?
2. What were the actual arrangements - did you have to let them know by a certain time that was your final decsion? Did they drop a kit off at some point or did they bring it when they came?
3. What pain relief was availalbe/did you have?
4. What things did you need to buy/have on hand?
5. Was it messy? (one for DP who is very concerned about this - especially the cream carpets!)
6. Did you feel more 'safe'/'in control' being at home do you think?
7. How did you know when to call the midwife? (I was induced last time so no experience of knowing when the 'right time is)
8. Was it one-to-one care all through the labour? Was it more than one midwife?

I think thats it (for now!), sorry!

Jojoba1986 Fri 28-Sep-12 10:24:12

Wow! Lots of questions!

1. I originally was adamant that I want a hospital birth but they were very happy to accommodate my decision change at about 20 weeks! One of them was v excited by the idea!

2. I'm sure there was a preferred point by which I needed to have told them, but a friend of mine had decided against a homebirth but had to have one because she labours v quickly!
They brought the pack with them on the day but did come round a few weeks before hand to check it would be a suitable environment & talk through a birth plan.

3. I had none - didn't feel the need for it! I was offered g&a & could have got something stronger (maybe pethidine) by getting a prescription from the GP - this requires forward planning though!

4. The biggest thing I remember being necessary to have on hand was a light! Ideally a desk lamp but a torch would do if someone can hold it for her! The reason for this is so the mw can check the severity of a tear & repair it at home if it's not too bad.

5. Yes. Went to B&Q & spent very little on a plastic dust sheet. The mws just scooped up the whole lot on the plastic & binned it! There were a couple of smudges left on our bedsheet but nothing worse than a small nose bleed - should sponge right out if cleaned up early!

6. Absolutely. My home is my domain. There was no chance of them coercing me into any interventions because they'd need to get me into an ambulance first! I just felt like I was one step further from all that so it was more my decision! It was also really comforting to have my things around me & know where everything was!

7. I didn't really tbh! We rang after my waters broke & she came round to check on me but I didn't think I was having proper contractions so she went again & said to call her when my contractions were 5 mins apart. They started 5mins apart & felt just the same as what she'd told me were bh! Called at about 11 because I knew I'd need her at some point & didn't want her getting too comfy in her bed!

8. Yes, I had 1-to-1 throughout. I also had a student there who was fab! I can't say how grateful I was to her. The 'real' mw started getting more than a little uppity with me because I was struggling to tell when 1 contraction ended & the next started which made monitoring difficult. I also didn't want to be touched & needed to be lying on my side. She got really quite frustrated with this (despite my birth plan clearly stating that I didn't want monitoring!) & eventually announced that we really should think about going to hosp because this baby may not come out alive! Her reasons for this statement seemed a little sketchy & we just got the impression she didn't want to be there. Eventually we allowed her to call an ambulance & the paramedics were on the landing when my perfectly healthy little boy was born!
The 'real' midwife spent most of the time on the phone to her supervisor covering her own back while the student stayed with us. She also did the actual delivery! A second midwife was called when I said I wanted to push but I think she'd only just come in the room when he was born! If that same midwife turned up this time I genuinely wouldn't let her through the door! I'd rather do it entirely alone than with her unhelpful negativity in the room!

Sorry, still get a little emotional about it! If you have any other questions I'm more than happy to share my experience or you could see if your local nct has a group!

EddieIzzardIsOrange Fri 28-Sep-12 12:56:47

Thanks Jojoba, thats really helpful! I am pretty set on this being what I want so just hope there are no complications that might stop it (obviously babys health comes first though)

I did look at the local nct homebirth group but they all seem a litle...woo, iykwim? Suspicious of doctors/hospitals, think that being in them ruins womens instinctive mothering, want to give birth just with chanting/whale music/candles whereas you can see from the questions I'm very keen to find out what drugs you can have!

MrsJLS85 Fri 28-Sep-12 13:59:09

Wow so interesting to hear about others experiences of homebirth. Even though I don't think its the option for me, still very interesting to read.
I would just like to say, for question #3, that I can vouch for pethidine. I had it at the birthing centre for DD1 and it worked really well for me, when g&a didn't do anything...

How is everyone feeling? Any new symptoms?
I'm been feeling a little bit more tired and nauseous, also a bit constipated, have the chills, and quite bloated.

Has anyone told any family/friends yet?

EddieIzzardIsOrange Fri 28-Sep-12 15:05:31

MrsJLS yea, pethidine is what I'm hoping for - g&a did nothing for me too except made me sick but pethidine let me sleep until the last 10 minutes where my waters broke and DS was out so fx i an have that again!

I'm still so tired but nothing much other than that, occasional waves of nausea and woke up with a sore throat but those I can live through, its being knackered thats hard.

Are you on iron tablets/pregnancy vitamins with iron in?

I have told work - had to, I could barely stand up straight and was slurring with being sleepy so before it looked like I had a massive drink problem, I said that I'm actually pregnant! Also a friend who is also preganant (about 10 weeks i think) and has a DS a month older than mine so we have been whinging together! And my mum.

Have you told anyone?

MrsJLS85 Fri 28-Sep-12 17:15:31

Haven't told anyone because I've had 2 Mc's before 6 weeks, so I want to wait until after that point before I start telling close friends

Yes on pregnancy tablets with iron, and I was going to ask others about this, but and this is kinda funny, I've noticed since taking them my wee has gone like bright yellow haha like similar to if you have a Vitamin C or beroca... anyways please tell me if this is normal and happening to others...

Onemoreforgoodmeasure Fri 28-Sep-12 17:41:03

Welcome Wine, welcome Dreamy (and sorry to hear about your mc, you're in supportive company here). Welcome Jojoba! Wow so many new people, the lovely June board is taking off!

My mother's calling this one Juneberry. We've been calling this one "the egg" so far.

Jojoba, that's very interesting, thanks for asking Eddie. I wonder if having a doula would have counterbalanced any of that negativity? Anyone have any experience of that?

Mrs I have flourescent wee as well.

I've had an upsurge in sore boobs over night, very comforting. How is everyone else getting on with their symptoms?

Hello all waves I poas this morning, apparently we're expecting DC%233 on 7th June grin

I am t1 diabetic so high risk, I'm expecting to deliver at 38 weeks assuming we make it that far, which would actually put it in the last week of May - convenient for half term grin

OMG NOT dc233! grin just number 3! gringringrin

flutterby123 Sat 29-Sep-12 09:06:08

Hi, can I join you, just poas this morning and it says 1-2 weeks pregnant!!! Eek! So DC1 should be due about 5th June 2013. We are so excited, but it all feels a bit unreal. Don't think it'll all sink in until 12 week scan says it's okay.
I've got a silly question - what do I do now? When should I book a GP appointment?
Hope everyone else is fine!!!!

MrsJLS85 Sat 29-Sep-12 09:23:33

Welcome Rue and flutter!! and Congratulations!

Flutter you could call your GP for an appointment - all they'll do is 'put you in the system' which will register you with the midwives, and be reminded about Folic Acid and Vitamin C, etc, and you can ask any initial questions you may like what not to eat etc. Then closer to 8 weeks you'll receive an appointment to have your 8 week 'booking-in appointment' with the midwives. Theres alot of waiting around these early weeks - and they will seem to drag by lol!

Jojoba1986 Sat 29-Sep-12 12:07:24

Hmph. Am in need of a whinge! I'm 4+1 today & cramping lots! I ridiculously don't want to be upright in case gravity & cramps are a bad combination! Every time I turn over I feel like everything in my lower abdomen is sliding around! I'm not in pain as such, just aching & feel like AF is about to appear! I'm sure everything's fine, I'm just uncomfortable & had such an easy time with DS that it just feels wrong to have any symptoms!

Ok, whinge over! Sorry! blush

MrsJLS85 Sat 29-Sep-12 12:24:16

jojoba A few days ago I felt exactly the same way! Was 99.9% confident I was Mc-ing because the cramps were so awful, affecting my whole back and abdomen. But I'm now 4+5 and it seems to have gone. I'm sure in both our cases its just implantation. Fx!

Jojoba1986 Sat 29-Sep-12 13:24:33

Good to know, thanks! I've been reading up about 'bedding in pains' which sounds v much like what I'm getting! Unfortunately I'm not feeling overly rational right now so all the information in the world probably wouldn't help! Sigh! Hopefully it'll get better soon! smile

dreamydays Sat 29-Sep-12 13:46:35

Hello all! Congrats to the newbies - I love it that we're still at the start of the month so lots more will be joining.

Very interesting to hear the stories of home birth. I'd have loved to if younger but feel a bit more fragile now I'm the grand old age of 38 (39 at birth!).

As for symptoms, does anyone else have a strong metallic taste in their mouth? That and itchy nipples are it so far. jojoba like you I've had a few cramps, but only mild. Not all that aware of being pg yet!

Only symptom I have is increased discharge (sorry if tmi!). Hoping it stays that way...

Jojoba1986 Sat 29-Sep-12 15:52:06

Oh good, Rue, I'm glad it's not just me! grin

Cramps + dampness = paranoia

FrustratedSycamorePants Sat 29-Sep-12 16:45:23

Had a paranoia moment that I was making the whole thing up so bought test. Still a bfp. Phew.

Jojoba1986 Sat 29-Sep-12 16:47:01

I've still got my BFP test on my dressing table & check it regularly just to make sure! grin

FrustratedSycamorePants Sat 29-Sep-12 16:53:20

I dont do have any 4 in my bedside cabinet to check daily. blush in my defence I just wanted to poas again see it get darker. grin am I totally mad?

LadyFlumpalot Sat 29-Sep-12 16:53:34

Hello, I tested positive on Monday just gone. My period was due Wednesday so I am very early days!

FrustratedSycamorePants Sat 29-Sep-12 16:56:07

Hi flump <waves> congratulations! I'm only early days too 4+5, I think most of us here are being tentative in these early days.
I'm clearly doubting my bfp since I just POASed again

LadyFlumpalot Sat 29-Sep-12 16:58:45

I've POAS 4 times since Monday! This will be my 2nd DC, I remember all the period pain type cramps from last time round, but I'm still worrying at every little twinge!

Hi! Can I join? Just did a test at 11 dpo and it was a bfp! Couldn't believe it at all. Due 10 June with #3. I had all these plans to keep it a secret for a long time and due to my profession (student midwife) I totally blabbed my big secret whilst at a birth last night to my preceptors smile Felt so exciting to tell someone though!

Very sore, heavy bbs, and already some round ligament pains with coughing. Also already picking up smells. Crazy how fast the symptoms come up when you know!

FrustratedSycamorePants Sat 29-Sep-12 17:10:45

Oh trumpet the smells, that one is driving me mad. It's amazing how many everyday smell are suddenly repulsive.

dreamydays Sat 29-Sep-12 17:54:41

Hi flump my period was also due Wednesday so we may be at the same stage!

Congrats trumpets. The smells haven't hit me yet but I am beginning to lose my usual sweet tooth! For once I don't fancy chocolate!

I'm also holding on to my bfp stick, just to reassure me occasionally (but out of sight of DD and her avid curiosity).

FrustratedSycamorePants Sat 29-Sep-12 18:35:59

I don't do still have my BFPs from both dds somewhere. Did you know a bfp can last 7 years?

Jojoba1986 Sat 29-Sep-12 21:33:09

Rofl! Frus that's hilarious! Do you still check them regularly just to make sure you didn't dream your DDs? grin
I'd probably have mine from DS if mean DH hadn't objected to the grossness of keeping wee!

Welcome Flump & Trumpets! Do add yourself to the list of due dates! smile

LadyFlumpalot Sat 29-Sep-12 21:36:12

June the 5th (I think) although, my last period was ... odd ... and I've been feeling a bit odd for a little while, so I wait to see if I'm actually further on than I think!

At least this one wont be born on Xmas day like DS!

FrustratedSycamorePants Sat 29-Sep-12 21:47:18

jojo no I don't check them anymore. They're in the attic stored in a box with my ttc/pg diary for dd1, first shoes, lock of hair, and various other keepsakes. grin

sparkiestfiend Sat 29-Sep-12 22:39:43

Hi everyone! Can I join? Not sure of all the abbreviation, tho I'm (maybe wrongly) assuming that poas is peed on a stick?? Which, if it is, I did last Thursday........edd 1st June.

This is baby number 2 for me, have a 5 year old too. Symptoms include HUGE (and theyre big at the best of times!), really sore boobs, some nausea in the pm and strange cramps and discharge (sorry!) Which has me running to the loo every 5 mins to check i'm not bleeding!

Roll on mid november when we can relax a bit!

:-)

Well I dunno that I'd say peed on a stick, but the gist is right... grin

Welcome, hope the nausea doesn't get too bad.

I haven't been craving chocolate, either dreamy ! Normally I'm all over it and I could be perfectly happy leaving it in the cupboard right now.

I have my two from my first DSs too Frust. Kinda gross.... but I can't bring myself to bin them. blush

EddieIzzardIsOrange Sun 30-Sep-12 11:27:36

Hello everyone, getting quite a crowd now arent we?!

I'm 5 weeks today (hooray! smile Just 35 to go! sad ) and have a scan in about 3 weeks (19th Oct) so looking forward to that!

Hows everyone else doing?

doopington Sun 30-Sep-12 15:20:17

Hello! Can I join you? I got a bfp on thursday after 16 months ttc. EDD is 4th June. :-)

FrustratedSycamorePants Sun 30-Sep-12 18:33:14

Hi doop <waves>

dreamydays Sun 30-Sep-12 18:50:36

Hello spark and doop, congratulations! We're on 13mths ttc in my house - no fun, is it?

flump do you think you might be a month further on than you thought? If it helps I had a light period at the start of two earlier pregnancies ( I'm now taking progesterone to prevent this).

Skinnydecafflatte Sun 30-Sep-12 19:00:52

Hello, can I come in to play? I got a BFP this morning after thinking 'lets just do one to rule it out'. We have been TTC for nearly two years. We have one DS who is three next month. Just before we conceived him our fertility clinic told us that we'd probably never had children naturally. As you can imagine we are thrilled (again) but slightly shocked.
Due date is 9th June. I want to tell everyone but obviously not a wise idea yet.
You would think that since I have done this before I would know what happens but it all feels very new and unknown. Only symptoms are very sore boobs, otherwise all normal. Hoping to stick around and get to know you.

Congratulations, skinny and wow, what a story grin

suzyrut Mon 01-Oct-12 11:36:39

hi all just wondered if anyone else feels faint or if it's normal. Was just sitting at my desk pretending to work whilst secretly browsing internet for buggies and my head sarted spinning (maybe it was the cost of the buggies!) Thank you.

Onemoreforgoodmeasure Mon 01-Oct-12 14:04:16

Wow, a lot has happened, welcome more lovely June beans! I am 5 weeks today. Aside from the lethargy and the boobs I feel fine.

I do get light headed quite easily but I haven't experienced dizziness while stitting still Suzy, maybe you should check that?

Suzyrut and Onemore probably low blood sugar. It's super common in early pregnancy to not feel hungry but to actually need something to eat. Especially something with protein in it. Cheese, cottage cheese, nuts, etc. Try to get in snacks at least every 2-3 hours. It should help keep morning sickness away too!

Onemoreforgoodmeasure Mon 01-Oct-12 17:38:17

Thanks Trumpets, I bought a nice mixture of dried fruits and nuts yesterday to keep in my bag so I have a healthy option!

CollectorOfCookbooks Mon 01-Oct-12 21:25:33

Tentatively joining you if thats ok. Congratulations to you all.

POAS yesterday, thought my eyes were deceiving me, then again this morning and again tonight - line getting darker all the time! Extremely early days, edd 16th June. DH said 'oh' and then told me not to eat out of date yogurt!

Best friends hen do this weekend and she just caught me crying so I told her - her reaction was underwhelming to say the least, I'm actually really hurt considering this comes off the back of a miscarriage this summer. I know she has a lot on but still. Hey ho. From what I've read elsewhere on MN then I'm going to have to toughen myself up for reactions and comments and advice - if this bean sticks! Don't plan to tell anyone else til 8 weeks, parents and siblings that is, everyone else can wait.

Can anyone recommend a good multivitamin or is Pregnacare Conception ok to keep taking til I finish the packet? Drive me bonkers remembering to take it of an evening though, happy to swop if there's a better one out there.

Welcome collector! Congratulations!

So sorry to hear about your friend's reaction. That's really unfair of her. I'm sure it'll just take some time for the news to sink in for your DH and he will be very excited soon smile

You are welcome to come here and talk about everything and anything you please and we are all going to be genuinely happy and excited for you!

CollectorOfCookbooks Tue 02-Oct-12 06:57:23

Thanks Trumpets, much appreciated! DH starting to get excited now, but I'm tryingto keep a lid on that until I get a bit further along!

MrsJLS85 Tue 02-Oct-12 07:06:53

Hi Everyone, and welcome newbies! congrats on BFPs! Congrats skinny on again beating the odds! And sorry collector to hear of your friends reaction, but you're in a good place here. Yes you're right you'll receive all kinds of different reactions from people, just remember that you know best!

5 weeks now, and yesterday I woke up, stood up, ran to the loo and threw up. Last time this didn't happen til 7 weeks! So I'm just hoping that maybe 2nd time around the symptoms happen sooner (because I don't think I could face the idea of twins!)

How is everyone feeling? Oh and suzy I've certainly felt quite faint recently too. Frequent snacking seems to be the answer!

dreamydays Tue 02-Oct-12 07:24:53

Poor you Mrs throwing up already! I felt a bit rough before breakfast this morning and wondered if it was too early for that (5 weeks tomorrow).

Congrats collector! As for vitamins, I'm no expert but my impression is that other than folic acid, which of course is key, the formulations of the different brands seem to vary quite widely and the reason for that is unclear. I've read that some people find that some brands (esp Pregnacare) makes their morning sickness worse. Personally I take it at breakfast - I find it easier to remember than in the evening!

Ayomi Tue 02-Oct-12 10:56:29

Hi all... Just tested positive today estimated due date 4th June.. Slightly in shock lol as was feeling poorly then realised I was late.. Wasn't really expecting it! Have a dd who is 4, now trying to remember everything from then smile

suzyrut Tue 02-Oct-12 12:02:41

Thanks trumpets, will pick up some chocolatehealthy snacks at lunch time. On a completely different note has anyone else considered/had a private scan?

woodysmummy Tue 02-Oct-12 14:45:46

i ahve a private scab booked for 13th octber will be 7+1/40. fingers corssed feeling relay worried they say nothing there! slthough MS has rampe dup this am so thats a good sign! anyone elese?

I'll get a viability scan at 8 weeks ish due to being high risk, with DD I had about 8 scans in all, with DS (who is a triplet as well as having a high risk mum!) we got to well over 25 scans before he arrived! I'm hoping it won't be quite so dramatic this time round grin

BFP yesterday afternoon EDD 14th June 2013

Hi folks, I introduced myself on the may/early June thread this morning but I always go overdue so I think I should stick to this thread. EDD currently 11th June, based on conception date rather than LMP because my cycles are quite long too. Last baby was 11 hellish days overdue, so may be due nearer the end of June.

Skinnydecafflatte Tue 02-Oct-12 16:46:37

Oh a few more people, t'is getting exciting, congratulations everyone. Thanks for the congrats too, it's nice to have some people to tell.
I feel the need to have more symptoms as I can't believe it is true. I am wishing I had MS to prove it, sure if it happens I will be saying otherwise though. It's hard trying to distinguish between normal feelings and pregnancy feelings, ie is the tiredness because of the little bean or is it just normal tiredness.
When do we need to tell the doctors? It's so hard trying to get an appoinment, should I book one for a few weeks time?

pinkapples Tue 02-Oct-12 17:05:05

Tentatively lurking BFP after 2 yrs and lots of fertility treatment (including 1 failed ivf cycle and miscarriage in April) I'm now 9 days past my 5 day transfer of perfect 4AA blastocyst grin technically 14dpo if egg collection is meant to be ovulation and had a faint BFP yesterday and a slightly darker one today... Very excited but not too much as its very early days (4 weeks today) EDD 11th June x nice to meet you ladies congratulations to all x

skinny I want to leave it as late as possible to meet midwife - so won't book in until 9/10 weeks.

ella0 Tue 02-Oct-12 17:47:23

Hello,

Can I join in please?

Just got my BFP yesterday on day 28 so it's early days.

This was our third cycle of ttc, but I never thought I'd be able to have children as my husband didn't want children for years and only changed his mind this summer (I'm 32)!

My husband has made me take four tests (two yesterday morning, one yesterday evening and another this morning!) from different brands as he can't quite believe it.

ella0 Tue 02-Oct-12 17:51:33

Oh, I forgot to add that I think I'm due on 11/06/12 (according to a book I have), and this will be my first child.

FrustratedSycamorePants Tue 02-Oct-12 19:54:43

Hi ella I noticed you had a bfp on October Fred. Congratulations am welcome aboard. grin

ella0 Tue 02-Oct-12 21:47:16

Thank you frustrated.

FrustratedSycamorePants Tue 02-Oct-12 22:08:18

How are you feeling ella? Has it sunk in yet? grin

princesschick Wed 03-Oct-12 09:18:36

Morning all, I got my BFP last night at long last. Period was uncharacteristically late, so we did the test and it was positive. I'm still shock I'm due 09/06/2012. This was our 24th cycle of trying and I've had 2 MCs (in June '09 and May '11) both at 6wks2days. So, as you can imagine, I'm pretty nervous and excited all at the same time right now. I didn't really sleep last night because of the excitement and being scared too. Anyway, big waves hello and hope you are all well this morning smile

CollectorOfCookbooks Wed 03-Oct-12 11:16:16

Congratulations, Princess and Ella!

I don't know about any of you but I found myself looking at babygro's yesterday and thinking 'there's something the size of a pin inside me which is going to fit in that in 8 months' which freaked me out a little.

Main symptom for me at the moment is waking up stupidly early (4am, hello??!) and then feeling sick for a couple of hours. But it's way too early for that, I'm not sure if it's psychomatic!Think I'm going to call the docs at about 6 weeks if I get that far. I've swopped my vitamins to morning, thanks for the tip Dreamy!

Somehow it's not quite real. I don't think we'll get a private scan, unless I start panicking and decide I need one to prove there's something in there other than cake!

CollectorOfCookbooks Wed 03-Oct-12 11:18:24

PS has anyone else found they've lost weight since finding out?? I don't know whether it's through being scared or eating really healthily but 3lbs have come off - I'm a bit on the heavy side anyway (size 16) so a few pounds off before I have to be weighed at the midwife is probably all to the good!

princesschick Wed 03-Oct-12 11:49:02

Collector and congrats to you too smile I've contacted my nutritionist this morning to ask about supplements but I think I'll be sticking with my Pre-Natal Packs and fish oils (I take 9 tablets a day on her recommendations!) I too woke up at 3.30 this morning and couldn't get back to sleep - think that that's nerves, worry and excitement. I did the Zita West 'Relaxation for Pregnancy' mp3 this morning. Only symptoms here are : a little bit hungrier, needing to pee all the time, achy backache and no period!

I'm thinking about an early doors progesterone test but only because mine was borderline ok when I had the 7DPO test done and I know that it's relatively easy to supplement progesterone. I'm not sure about an early scan, esp with my history of miscarriage.

Big waves to you all! smile

DontmindifIdo Wed 03-Oct-12 13:10:28

hello all, got my BFP this morning, mind if I join in?

Feels a bit odd right now, I had a miscarriage at 11 weeks at the start of July and I really really wasn't expecting to get pregnant again this soon, we were talking about trying after Christmas... Also haven't been taking follic acid or any vitimins, need to start that today!

Are we doing stats? I'm due 13th June (have checked, it's a Thursday not a Friday, no need to panic), am 33 and living in SE. Have 1 DC already (2.5 year old DS).

I think we will go for a private scan, it's £95 and after losing the last one, I don't think I'm going to be happy until I've seen this one is ok. While I actually MC at 11 weeks, they think the baby stopped developing at 6-7 weeks, so a scan at 8weeks would be good to keep me sane.

Collector - I didn't get morning sickness last time and nothing so far, so I gained a lot of weight in the first few months. This time round I'm not going to treat it as an excuse to eat crap. If you are losing weight without throwing up, then you're probably just making really good food choices.

preggersbycheggers Wed 03-Oct-12 14:18:03

6 week tomorrow. 6 weeks to go till scan! Arrrggghhh... seems a long way away!

Hello to everyone waving their BFP sticks at me!!

I am sooooo hungry, waking early, slightly nauseous AND my belly has popped out. I had heard that with your second it happens but 6 weeks??? Come on???? My friend guessed I was pregnant! How long can I stay in my size 10 skinny jeans for??? I can't face 7 months of over the bump jean wearing!!!!

Hope everyone is well.

Skinnydecafflatte Wed 03-Oct-12 17:09:33

Congrats to the newest recruits!
Preggers - very jealous of you being 6 weeks already, at 4 +4 it seems such a long way away. Btw I don't think my stomach ever recovered from ds1 so if mine were to pop out I wouldnt notice smile
Hope everyone is feeling ok and looking forward to welcoming more new recruits x x

Jojoba1986 Wed 03-Oct-12 17:18:19

Skinny I know the feeling! I'm 4+5 & I'd give anything to be halfway to my scan! Can't believe it was only a week ago today that I got my BFP! Seems like forever!
Btw, did you specifically choose your name so people would shorten it & give you an ego boost? wink I'm seriously considering changing mine to 'nicebum'! grin

FrustratedSycamorePants Wed 03-Oct-12 17:25:50

preggers definately shows a lot earlier with 2nd. i'm on number 3. At 5+2 my stomach muscles have gone flump. An I'm sure my back has done that arching thing already. An wearing conveniently styled tunic tops, but not sure how much longer I've got.
preggers you need some under bump ones like these

Skinnydecafflatte Wed 03-Oct-12 17:32:53

[Grin] at jojoba, no I didn't on purpose, its was what I drank since being pregnant the first time. It's very nice to be called skinny though as its been a loooong time since I have been called that. I know by the end of this pregnancy (fingers crossed) I will be more like a weeble!

Skinnydecafflatte Wed 03-Oct-12 17:34:12

Hmmm. And by the end perhaps i'll be able to do smileys too!

Jojoba1986 Wed 03-Oct-12 17:40:54

Heehee! I shall start calling you Weebs then! grin

FrustratedSycamorePants Wed 03-Oct-12 17:46:02

Ooh weebs and bum grin

Onemoreforgoodmeasure Wed 03-Oct-12 18:04:01

Hi everyone, welcome to the "new" ones and congratulations! I'm 5+2 today, have booked a private scan for 7+1 hoping to hear a heartbeat and therefore relax a bit. As for symptoms, I'm thinking of having salmon and steak for dinner so surely some rewiring is happening somewhere!!!

ella0 Wed 03-Oct-12 18:04:31

frustrated I'm feeling very happy and excited but also quite worried as I know it's early days.

Congratulations princess and don't mind!

Collector Thanks - congratulations to you too! I have been waking up early and haven't been able to get back to sleep but wasn't sure if that was a symptom or the excitement!

My main symptom is a crampy feeling every now and again, my nipples have changed (they're darker around the edges) and no period.

I think a private scan would put my mind at rest. I'm feeling the need to do the clear blue digis with weeks that come up every week just to see them go up.

waves congratulations and hello

Is anyone else thinking of staying quiet as long as possible? I will probably have extra scans and tests and I really want to aim to tell after the twenty week scan. I think you have to tell your employer by 26 weeks don't you?

Skinnydecafflatte Wed 03-Oct-12 18:50:28

grin I like weebs!

In answer to your question cereal, I think I will be telling shortly after 12 week scan if all well. We have an event in December at work which would involve long hours and lots of lifting and carrying so I will have to let them know so they don't think I'm just not pulling my weight! I may just be sleeping in a corner anyway...

I've already told a few people and I'm only about 4 weeks pg lol I can't keep these things to myself! The way I see it is, if there was a problem and the worst was to happen (god forbid) I'd want those people to know and support me anyway. I reckon we'll tell everybody else at Christmas.

Jojoba1986 Wed 03-Oct-12 19:26:47

Oh hush Pants! grin

I'm hoping to keep it quiet until Christmas time when we'll get DS to give my mum a Christmas card with a scan pic inside! The rate we're going it'll be a very early Christmas card with a note from Lickle Pickle inside, probably delivered before November! blush We're not good at lying if people ask us directly... Which they do. A lot! hmm

FrustratedSycamorePants Wed 03-Oct-12 19:35:29

What number are you in jojo <goldfish memory>

Jojoba1986 Wed 03-Oct-12 19:36:32

Number?

FrustratedSycamorePants Wed 03-Oct-12 19:38:57

Child grin

Jojoba1986 Wed 03-Oct-12 19:44:43

Ooooohhhhh! Baby brain! #2 grin

FrustratedSycamorePants Wed 03-Oct-12 19:53:30

grin I think with dc2 I made it past the 12wk stage, but not as long as I lasted with dc1 (when I mainly looked fat until 6 months.) I have pathetic fitness levels anyway, and haven't had a "flat" stomach since I was 19. (Long time ago pre children)

Jojoba1986 Wed 03-Oct-12 20:09:08

Wow, past 12 weeks? That's impressive! I blurted it out to close friends within days of finding out & then had to call parents because it didn't feel right not to tell them if other people knew! blush I'm determined to last longer this time!

FrustratedSycamorePants Wed 03-Oct-12 20:42:19

jojo that's staying bumpless. (Past 12 weeks) although with dc2 I think we didn't tell many people before 12weeks.

We didn't tell with DC1 until 13 weeks. And I wasn't showing until 26weeks, at a wedding at 30 weeks a few people didn't realise. But overnight it seemed bump popped and I was being offered the seat on buses.

I haven't even told my DH yet, he was really happy about trying and then last week toddler sleep regression hit and he has started saying the past few days how he hopes we didn't succeed.

dreamydays Wed 03-Oct-12 22:29:53

Congrats to all the new bfps! smile

ella and others I'm also sleeping badly, waking at 4am and unable to get back to sleep. Not sure if it's hormones or just thinking about it all...

dontmind, sorry about your mc. I'm in the same place as you on an early scan. Last time (July) I had a scan at 7 weeks and there was a heartbeat, but foetus much smaller than expected. The dr said it was ok (though the expression on her face didn't really match) but as I was so sure of my dates it set me worrying that it wasn't developing. Sure enough I had an mc a week later.

I've told DH, one friend, and my district commissioner (I run a Rainbows unit) cos she'll have to find me some maternity cover, and volunteers are hard to come by! Other than that I won't tell anyone for a while - friend will help me cover if required!

With DD, I kept quiet to family till about 24 weeks, although work knew immediately because I was on fortnightly antenatal appointments from 8 weeks (and will be again, ho hum).

With DS we were expecting triplets and it's pretty much impossible to keep that to yourself grin so everyone knew straight away and all practically died of the shock which as it turned out helped, after we lost two of them to twin to twin transfusion. If we'd gone through that by ourselves it would have been a LOT harder.

If it's multiples again I'll need sedating for approx 8 months...

DontmindifIdo Thu 04-Oct-12 07:41:24

with DS, we told a few people at 7-8 weeks (family and a few close friends) with the one we lost this summer we'd told family again and a couple of very close friends, but once I'd lost the baby, I regretted that some people didn't know and ended up telling them after the effect. Whereas, SIL was rather useless and has never mentioned the baby we lost, not even a "sorry to hear your bad news" - so on her total lack of support last time, I'm not going to tell them this time round until a little later on...Still debating if we'll go for a private scan at 8 weeks.

dreamydays - sorry to hear about yor MC too, are you finding it hard to be excited this time round?

dreamydays Thu 04-Oct-12 07:58:23

dontmind I am finding it hard to be optimistic but I am making myself be as positive and excited as possible so as to give my body some encouragement! I'm 38 which doesn't help.

I know what you mean about telling people post-mc. I told a couple of friends after my recent one too. I'm a very private person - only DH and I know and we've no plans to tell others at the moment. But I'm wondering whether to tell my boss soon, as both my mc's have had an impact on my work for which I've taken the criticism without explaining what's going on.

Rue lots of sympathy for your story - hope you have a lovely straightforward pregnancy this time!

Rue also wishing you a happy and healthy straightforward pregnancy, my last pregnancy was easy but my child was left in NICU and with a lifelong disability after a mistake during delivery. Maybe we can hold hands together?

suzyrut Thu 04-Oct-12 10:23:34

thanks woodysmum and ruedewakening. Sorry this is going to be a bit of a long post because it was not a great experience...had a private scan last night as didn't af after coming off the mini pill and so had no idea how far along I was. Had to have an internal scan and the scanographer (not sure correct term) told me repeatedly that I was only 4 weeks pregnant. Now to me if anyone says I'm 4 weeks pregnant that means that I conceived approx. 2 weeks ago as that's the way that it's always been described by all other health proffessionals in my previous pregnancies. I'd been having symptoms for about 3 to 4 weeks so that sent me into a panic that it wasn't growing properly. I asked her repeatedly to tell me how pregnant that made me and she was just quite dismissive and said 4 weeks. I left a little bit distressed with her telling me I should just come back in a couple of weeks for a follow up. So went to book follow up and the RECEPTIONIST noticed I was a bit upset and I explained the situation, she fortunately understood exactly why I was upset and said no what she meant was that I'd been pregnant for 4 weeks and was therefore around 6 weeks pregnant! Was relieved but £75 worse off plus costs to rescan and pretty upset for a while! Anyway just a little note of caution to anyone using myultrababy clinics that they don't calculate your pregnancy in the same way as anyone else you'll speak to!!

princesschick Thu 04-Oct-12 14:33:35

Sorry about your experience Suzy glad that everything seems to be ok though. Hope you are ok.

I've only told DH, my nutritionist (to find out if I needed to start new supplements) and the ladies on the TTC 10 + thread. I'm planning to tell my parents this weekend, but I'm not telling DH I'm telling them because I don't want his parents to know yet (too gossipy). My parents can keep secrets, plus my Dad is my boss and I think there will be a fair few appointments next week, which I won't be able to keep secret. Plus last time I MC'd DH had to call Dad from hospital to let him know what was going on and I think it came as a bit of a shock. Oh and it's my mum's birthday today, so I'm looking forward to telling her when I get home tomorrow afternoon smile

I'm totally terrified today that this may go the way of the others. Hoping that seeing the GP tomorrow and having the progesterone test on Tuesday will reassure me. I guess what will be will be. It would just be so nice if 3rd time lucky worked out this time.

Dreamy I know how you feel. It's difficult. I keep doing the Zita West CD and trying to take my mind off things sooooo not easy with work and new things for the house renovation project.

I'm sorry to hear of some of the sad stories on here. Hopefully everyone will have trouble free pregnancies this time 'round smile

olimoss Thu 04-Oct-12 17:57:58

whispers

Hi - been lurking so thought I'd best say hi. Ancient 38yrs, first pregnancy (been busy doing other stuff till now.....), EDD 4 June.

Trying not to let the Internet freak me out too much, it's hard!

ella0 Thu 04-Oct-12 18:22:18

We've told a few people, but then we had told people we were trying for a baby. We agreed that if we would tell them about a mc then we're comfortable with telling them now.

I've caught a sore throat and bad cold from a colleague; I hope it doesn't affect things.

dreamydays Thu 04-Oct-12 19:20:23

Thanks princess

olimoss welcome and congrats! I'm glad to have some company in a 38+ club! (Anyone else want to join us?)

Keep reminding myself that my Granny had one of her kids aged 39+ smile

dreamy I'll be 38 by the time baby gets here, does that count? <spring chicken> grin

Ella about the only thing you can take for a cold when PG is olbas pastilles, Halls soothers and paracetemol, it's rotten. Hope it goes away soon!

honey and lemon helps too

dreamydays Thu 04-Oct-12 20:56:57

ruede yes definitely! smile

Skinnydecafflatte Thu 04-Oct-12 21:21:26

<waves> another one here in the 38 club, t'is obviously a good vintage.

Sorry to hear you are feeling poorly ella hope it clears up quickly. And a warm welcome olimoss, make yourself comfie, we're in for a long journey.

thedevilisinthedetail Thu 04-Oct-12 21:56:51

Hello, Can I very very tentatively join. AF not due until tomorrow but got my BFP on Tuesday 3 days early. Tested again this morning and got a definite pregnant. Slightly concerned it was so early as both my other pregnancies took until I was 5 days late. Anyway this will be a slightly unexpected DC3.

Due date 14/6/13...I think!

Jojoba1986 Thu 04-Oct-12 22:12:37

Congrats on the BFP! Just out of curiousity, what made you test if you're not late yet & weren't TTC? Ridiculously nosey

I'm suddenly feeling v young with all this talk of being 38! blush Won't mention that I'm only 26 & getting ready to meet DC2!

Hey devil welcome and congrats! I found out 3 days before af was due to arrive as well and it feels like everything is taking forever!

No worries Jojob I'm a youngin and am expecting #3 smile

hey devil congratulations! same EDD as me grin

olimoss Thu 04-Oct-12 22:30:45

Thanks skinnydecafflatte, feels a bit like forever right now....

Still trying to work out how to explain this to our rather spoilt whippet. She'll no doubt look very disappointed.

Had my first session with my personal trainer since I found out, told him of course, felt a bit wary the whole time bout exercising. I suppose that'll pass?

LadyFlumpalot Fri 05-Oct-12 08:36:11

Oh crumbs. I'm panicking really badly at the moment. I remember all these little twinges and cramps from last time round, but I'm still terrified. sad

Also, told my dad and stepmum yesterday, they had major problems with my stepmum carrying a child. They had my little sister, but only managed the one. My Stepmum is being funny with me, and said that I have to remember that she only had one and that I am making her remember how sad she felt.

I'm 28 years old, how does she manage to make me feel like a scolded teenager?!?

Argh. sad

LadyFlumpalot Fri 05-Oct-12 08:38:06

Jojoba I tested 3 days early because I just KNEW. My boobs started aching really badly about two days after we danced the dance and a few days later I got funny little twinges.

Jojoba1986 Fri 05-Oct-12 09:41:34

Wow! That's a difficult situation with your step mum! My aunt didn't get married until she was past the child-bearing age & would really have liked children so it was difficult for her when I announced DS. It's not right for anyone to make you feel guilty for being pregnant!
Just because she struggled doesn't mean you will! My mum miscarried her first so I was terrified with DS but it's important to remember that everyone's different! Fx everything goes according to plan for you! smile

Wow lots of ladies on the thread now! Should we start a listy thing? Copy and add yourself at will.

Jamesandthegiantbanana - baby #3 - EDD 11th June

Anyone else on their third baby? I'm having a bit of an "omg what have we done?" wobble, now that I'm starting to feel tired and breathless, not sure how am I ever going to be able to chase after a two kids whilst heavily pg/pushing a newborn. I'm sure it'll all be ok but I keep getting a bit tearful thinking of the long tiring journey ahead. I'm already worrying about how to get three kids dressed, fed and out of the door for the school run!

Also I think spd is starting ridiculously early. It sounds impossible but it feels very familiar. Aching around the groin and hips area, lots of lower back/pelvic pain, and clicking/clunking when I open my legs. It kept me awake last night. It started at 11weeks in my first pg and stayed for a year after the birth, started about 20 weeks ish with my second, but I'm not even 5 weeks pregnant yet, this is bollocks. angry

Anyway apart from that I'm great... lol How's everyone else doing?

thedevilisinthedetail Fri 05-Oct-12 12:18:20

I tested early because I just knew! A dustbin lorry drove past and the smell had me doubled over with sickness...all a bit familiar so I tested!

James i'm wondering about early spd too...familiar twinges at 4 Weeks. This isn't inspiring me that this will be an easy pregnancy...

thedevilisinthedetail Fri 05-Oct-12 12:19:43

This will also be third. My dd will be 4 and ds will be 2 when this one appears...slightly terrified...

pinkapples Fri 05-Oct-12 13:06:09

What's spd?

SPD is symphis pubis dysfunction, also called pelvic girdle pain.

This will be my third too (though as previously we also have 2 angels who are DS's identical triplets). DD will be 6 and DS will be 3 when this one arrives.

Also on my third. DSs 4 and 2.5 years old-will be 4.5 and 3 when this one comes around.

MrsJLS85 Fri 05-Oct-12 16:34:57

Hi everyone, and congrats on new BFPs!! Its been a while since I posted, I'm now 5+5 and have told a few friends. Still panicking though at the thought of MC (have had 2 before) but in both cases I had started spotting by this point, and so far nothing, so fingers crossed! I'm definitely going for an early scan in the next few weeks, any one else?

Onemoreforgoodmeasure Fri 05-Oct-12 17:43:12

Hi all, congratulations on all the lovely new BFP's!!!

Mrs for similar reasons I'm going for a scan week after next, I'm 5+4 today. Fingers crossed for you. When will you go? Suzy thanks for the heads up re scans and how private organisations might date differently. I canimagine how stressful that would have been.

Lady sorry you're anxious, I am too, perhaps that's just the nature of the game we're in for a bit. Sorry your stepmum is being weird.

Dreamy, Skinny and Rue I'm 40 so I think that qualifies me!

Wow, I can't keep up often enough on this thread. Any idea how many of us there are now? Is this the most fertile month ever???!!! I'm going away for a week so will do my best to catch up next Sunday!

ella0 Fri 05-Oct-12 17:58:27

Thanks Rue, cereal and skinny smile . I woke up at 2.45am and couldn't get back to sleep, so I'm exhausted. I've had honey and lemon all day. At least it's the weekend, so I can rest now.

Skinnydecafflatte Fri 05-Oct-12 18:33:18

It's lovely to have new faces on here, as James suggested let's try and set up a roll call shall we? Add your name and EDD in date order to the list.

Skinnydecafflatte - baby #2 - EDD 9 June
Jamesandthegiantbanana - baby #3 - EDD 11 June

Good plan. I'll be name changing once I am past twenty weeks but I was recently 'spotted' on MN and I'd like to keep a low profile until I am more confident.

Oh there's lots of us, last time I was on a different birth thread (not as friendly as this one) and as I was at the end of the month I always felt behind, it's nice to be nearer the beginning of the month, although if this comes early as DC1 did then I'll end up in May's group!

dreamydays Fri 05-Oct-12 19:21:37

Yay skinny and onemore!

i've booked a scan for 16 Oct. i'll be 6+6 then, I think. It's a bit early but I need to see the dr then anyway to stock up on progesterone. Anyway it gives me a milestone to aim for and it's not far away smile

I've been feeling rough off and on for last 24 hours - symptoms kicking in properly. Anyone else in the same boat? Hurray for the weekend!

Re commiserations - I assume that means you are all so lovely and young! I didn't get that with DS, although so far, it's only DH and you lot who know I'm pregnant again! I've asked we delay telling his brother and my parents until I've seen a scan with a heartbeat. I don't mind PIL knowing, but then they were super supportive last time round.

Definitely need to fib about the due date. Also stops you from going crackers when your due date comes and goes. You know in France, sensibly they have a 41 week gestation period.

preggersbycheggers Fri 05-Oct-12 21:32:08

Oh and another thing. It's not 9 months. It's longer smile And contrary to how this post sounds I love being pregnant. Although right now I feel particularly bleurgh!

See I don't feel bleugh.

Tired <-- but might be due to toddler
Thirsty <-- but on a site visit all day so didn't drink enough

Yup i think I'll be publicising my EDM estimated due month as June.

olimoss Fri 05-Oct-12 22:05:06

And me....EDD 4 June

Just had some pink tinged mucous when I wiped. Not quite panicking as a) it could be implantation bleeding b) this is kind of around when my period would have been due and for some women they still have a bit of a bleed, and c) I had a cervical erosion in my last pregnancy so I had bleeding for a few weeks but early scan at epu showed the baby was fine. There's every chance it's one of the above reasons, especially the cervical erosion. Just have to keep an eye on it and hope for the best. hmm

I'm 36yrs old and 4wks &1 day preg and absolutely thrilled to bits. Had convinced myself that at my age it wasn't going to happen or would be a big struggle so feeling very blessed right now. Within a couple of days of 'doing the deed' I felt weird, then convinced myself it was just really bad pms. By wednesday I couldn't wait any longer so decided to poas. We're both very excited & daddy is very proud of his super sperm :0) so doing all the right things, looking after myself and praying that we get to the 12 week stage without any issues. Booked in for my first midwife appt on 15th oct (apparentley at my surgery you don't need to bother with the GP at all, hooray). So baby #1 -EDD 14 June

I'm ok, thanks for asking. I've had a bit of pinky brown tinged mucous today (sorry for the tmi but who knows, it might be helpful to someone) but nothing dramatic thank god. I tried to take it easy today but we had to do the food shop, I got dp to push the trolley as it was packed and had both kids in it too. I bought a cb digital test with a conception indicator, it's saying pregnant 1-2 weeks (so 3-4 weeks total) nice and reassuring to see it in print after all that squinting at faint lines on cheapo test strips!

How's everyone else doing? Any morning sickness yet?

olimoss Sat 06-Oct-12 18:19:49

No real morning sickness at all - my mum reckons she didn't suffer it so I might get lucky. I'm utterly knackered by about 2pm every day though, and starting to find smells a bit strong.

Anyone else the same?

DontmindifIdo Sat 06-Oct-12 18:44:14

James - sounds good - try to get as much rest as possible (I know, I know, not actually possible once you've got other DCs).

Also not proper morning sickness, but feeling a bit 'icky' mid morning, like i'd been sick IYSWIM. I didn't get any morning sickness with DS so I'm hoping I get away with it again...

I'm so so tired today. DS lost his monkey at 3am (it was under the covers at the foot of his bed), then decided at 5am my our bed was more comfy so climbed in, then all over me, DH slept throught all of this. DH had to work today so I took DS to a soft play place, I did get to sit down but the flip side is I now have a stinking softplay headache (what is it about the acostics in those places?). Really wish I could have a couple of nurofen. And gin.

<sigh> X factor and strictly sober isn't going to be anywhere near as much fun...

DontmindifIdo Sat 06-Oct-12 18:46:30

Oh. My. God. I've just realised. We are going to have to be cold stone sober at Eurovision. <sob> it's only fun if you're trollied.

TheBakersWife Sat 06-Oct-12 18:49:29

Hello all, just so we can see that list again, wink can I introduce myself, here comes baby #3, EDD 12 June but have a habit of being v late! Completely surprised to find out and still feeling somewhat shocked, when I can stay awake that is! Lovely to meet you ladies!

Welcome bakerswife, you sound like me, on 3rd baby and always late! I'm due approx the 11th, we can have a battle of "who can get the most overdue" if you like. I'm telling mil everyone that I'm due end of June so I don't get as many "have you had it yet?" phonecalls. I was ready to headbutt people by 11 days overdue... grin

Dillydollydaydream Sat 06-Oct-12 19:53:07

Hi. I'm quietly lurking at the moment. I had a mc in April and periods have been irregular since then. Im 8 days later than longest cycle,I poas this eve and bfp! I'm about 5 ish weeks maybe more. I'm nervous and won't be able to relax til after the 12wk scan.

sazzlepink Sat 06-Oct-12 20:08:09

Hiya!! I'm new to mumsnet so trying to figure out how the chats and groups work! Im 33 expecting number 2, DS1 is 4yrs old. I found out Tuesday and not due on til Monday so very early CB digi has moved up today to 2-3wks so thats good. Feel a little icky but other than that keep forgetting i'm pg!! Hope to get to know you all better :-)

I went 18 days overdue. So 42+4 Hell

do i win? This time will be ELCS or induction at 38 weeks

DontmindifIdo Sat 06-Oct-12 20:22:38

hello the bakers wife, Dillydolly and Sazzlepink! (I'm refusing to touch the list now, feel free to copy and paste with your details.)

TheBakersWife Sat 06-Oct-12 22:48:46

Lovely welcome thanks all. james when I was 42 weeks pg with ds I told a mum at school to off when she asked yet again if I was 'still here' then I was mortified and went ahead with the planned induction - was a really horrible cow in last 2 pg's, dh is not looking forward to more of that! cereal 18 days??? That must have been hellish.

TheBakersWife Sat 06-Oct-12 22:50:23

grin mumsnet won't even publish my pg obscenities obviously!

DontmindifIdo Sun 07-Oct-12 08:45:43

well, last night I had a very vivid nightmare that I was having a miscarriage. I've been feeling most unsettled this morning so far.

Can I just say sorry in advance, I'm going to be like this until 12 weeks at least, you're going to have to listen to me stress for 2 months. I know, this isn't going to be fun for anyone. Feel free to skip over my posts....

Sorry, just realised I hadn't put in baby # on mine.
How's everyone else feeling? I've still got a week to go before my GP appointment, but feeling fine. Feeling much less tired now it's the weekend so dreading tomorrow and going back to work! Does anyone know if pilates is safe during early pregnancy (normal pilates, not antenatal pilates?)

ella0 Sun 07-Oct-12 11:46:43

dont mind that's horrible, hope you're ok. Don't worry, I am exactly the same, I have been worrying so much for the past couple of days.

Here, you don't even call the midwife until 7wks. I've left my details at the doctors and received a pregnancy pack, but it seems like it'll be a few weeks until I see anyone.

I think we're going to have an early scan in a couple of weeks, to hopefully put my mind at rest.

dont mind I had very very vivid dreams in my first pregancy and would wake up convinced something had happened. Lots of positive thinking.

I'm also wondering about Pilates (normal) but jury is still out. Once I reach 12 weeksI will start either AN yoga or Pilates. Don't know which is best, I may not have a VB so it's about improving stomach muscles and making the pg as easy as possible.

We don't book in until 9/10 weeks here which seems much much later that most areas.

dreamydays Sun 07-Oct-12 18:39:33

Welcome bakerswife, dillydolly, sazzle!

Poor you don'tmind, hope you're feeling more confident. Am with you in the worry boat.

EddieIzzardIsOrange Sun 07-Oct-12 19:06:09

God I am sick. 6 weeks exactly today and the throwing up has started with a vengence, cant keep anything down, feel like retching all the time. Was like this with DS from 9-35 weeks so knew it was possible to feel this shite but didnt expect it quite so early....

Add in zombie tiredness and boobs that feel like they've been cheese grated and I am a miserable whingy boot today!

Saw the midwife about 2 weeks ago and got green notes and bloods done, she's coming for a house visit and more questions this Friday and then a scan the Friday afterwards...maybe they're just on the ball round here as all that will be before 8 weeks? Or they're just being cautious due to pregnancy from hell last time....

May ask for drugs on Friday, cannot comtemplate being as sick again, especially with a toddler now (see told you i was being a whingy boot!)

Hows everyone else? How you doing James?

DontmindifIdo Sun 07-Oct-12 20:16:42

thanks for the nice words - spent the day at the zoo today (can't work out if DS or Dh had more fun...) and feeling a lot more positive.

BTW - Father's day is 16th June in 2013 - so DH will be getting 2 cards next year (assuming this one sticks!) and looking at the list, most of the babies should be with us by then, that's really rather a cute thought!

Eddie - if it helps, most of my friends who had terrible morning sickness the first time round were better the second, so hopefully you'll be better soon. All i can say is start bulk buying the pickled ginger and if you think you need drugs to help, don't be brave, ask. Sounds like your place are really on the ball, we are told 8 weeks is the earliest for booking in. Seems silly to wait that long when you've found out early...

llamallama Sun 07-Oct-12 20:46:31

Hello

Can I join you? I have been lurking so far as I'm still in the "can't quite believe it" stage!

I got my BFP last Tuesday and am now 4+4 with baby #2. I have a 12 month old DD already. Very very pleased and excited to be pregnant so keeping everything crossed that all goes well.

I'm not having many symptoms though, I'm still breast feeding my DD and I have been feeling a little sore in the evenings, so many my boobs are more sensitive than usual. I remember last time that I could hardly put a bra on they were so tender! But maybe that joy is yet to come!

MrsRLondontown Sun 07-Oct-12 21:00:46

Hi I'm 5+4 weeks due 5th June at the moment with my fitst pregnancy. Felt really sick/ headachy/emotional last week and was worried symptoms had decreased last few days but think it's just because I'm resting lots and not working! Have early uss tues so hoping for something to be visible ! Good luck to everyone. I never thought this first bit would be so much of a worry.

llamallama Sun 07-Oct-12 21:18:17

Good luck for your scan. I had an early one with DD at 8 weeks last time, not sure we can afford to pay this time around, the private scan seem to be around £100 round here (south east) but I loved it last time! We saw a proper looking baby with her heart beating. It was really reassuring as up until that point it felt too unreal!

First to bow out.

Heavy cramping this afternoon and now bleeding. Understandably upset. DH feels pretty bad too.

olimoss Sun 07-Oct-12 22:17:18

pinkapples Mon 08-Oct-12 06:35:42

Oh no sad lurker popping in to send my apologies make sure dh looks after you x x

I'm sorry cereal sad

Thank you people - wishing you the best for your June babies

Never had a mc before but its bloody painful even though technically I am only a few days late. DH being DH and pointing out that the timing for work next May/June wasn't exactly great hmm

So sorry to hear that, cereal. <hugs> are you getting it checked out or do you know for sure that it's over? Poor you.

So tired this morning I slept through all the alarms (we have at least 4 different ones) I feel completely wiped out. Still getting a tiny bit of pink or brown spotting when I wipe. No sickness but I've been eating like a pig! blush

Sorry, xposted. Look after yourself x

james I don't really know what to do. It was very early to find out (damn these FR tests!) and we don't book in until 9/10 weeks here. I suppose the only reason to seek medical advice is if I feel very unwell or begin to bleed even more heavily? If my cycle doesn't return to normal then I suppose I will need to visit the GP.

Hope the tiredness eases, are you getting enough iron?

Dillydollydaydream Mon 08-Oct-12 10:51:01

Sorry to hear your news Cereal. Take care, lots of Nurofen if you need it and a hot water bottle helps too.

CollectorOfCookbooks Mon 08-Oct-12 12:22:27

Cereal, it might be worth calling your doctor just to be sure - when I had my miscarriage at 5 weeks the doctor examined me to make sure that my cervix had opened as had it been closed I may have needed a D&C.

Have a quiet couple of days, be kind to yourself and take care

cupholdermom Mon 08-Oct-12 14:05:51

cupholdermom Mon 08-Oct-12 14:06:22

cupholdermom Mon 08-Oct-12 14:06:45

preggersbycheggers Mon 08-Oct-12 14:36:59

Hugs cereal. I had a MC in August at 5 weeks and it wasn't very pleasant. Be kind to yourself and get lots of rest. We are here if you need us.

Cereal, round here you can self refer to epu to confirm that everything has gone iyswim - might be worth checking? The last thing you need is an infection further down the line.

I have (rightly or wrongly) decided that I would rather not visit EPU for our area, the waiting area is directly opposite the NICU where my DC1 was. At our hospital they have the AN scans area, the NICU, delivery and EPU all in the same corridor with the waiting areas facing each other. Might make it easier for the staff but it sucks for the people waiting no matter which side you are on.

Sounds like a far few have had experience of this, I am sorry, it sucks.

ella0 Mon 08-Oct-12 17:56:12

I am so sorry cereal.

MrsJLS85 Mon 08-Oct-12 18:24:10

cereal so sorry to hear. Rest and take care of yourself.

If it helps at all.... I had a MC in August (was 5 weeks), and 3 weeks after the first day of heavy bleeding I conceived again. Now I'm past 6 weeks pg and feeling really positive about this one.

dreamydays Mon 08-Oct-12 18:31:05

Sorry cereal. sad Do take care. Time for a large glass of wine?

DontmindifIdo Mon 08-Oct-12 18:39:06

cereal - speak to your GP, they might want to do a scan to make sure it's all gone, with my miscarriage, I had to go for a few scans to check it'd all gone because if not there's a risk of infection (only very small, but still a risk). But also hugs, take care of yourself.

thedevilisinthedetail Tue 09-Oct-12 05:45:44

So sorry to hear that cereal.

preggersbycheggers Tue 09-Oct-12 08:26:49

MRSJLS I was the same. Conceived immediately after losing the last pregnancy. And like you feel much more positive about this one. I didn't want to tell a soul about the last one. Am still keeping this one private for as long as possible.

Cereal - hope you are feeling ok today.

DontSweatTheSmallStuff Tue 09-Oct-12 09:22:44

<Tentatively joins thread>
Tested at 4w - just looked like an evap line. Test yesterday 4w+3 gave a nice bfp but not having any other symptoms yet. Ds1 and 2 gave bfp's so strong they practically glowed in the dark at 4w and i was feeling like i could sleep for a week by now, so feeling a bit nervous about this one. Due 15th June smile

Morning all

Morning! My 5 year old has found out and told everyone in the playground hmm virtually shouted it from the rooftops, bless him. Oh well that's that then, everyone knows! 5 weeks today lol

How's everyone doing? How are you cereal?

minaa Tue 09-Oct-12 10:03:51

HELLO! I am 6 weeks, due 10.06..slightly nervous..told only my mum and husband.cannot wait to tell friends as avoiding evening events & meeting them it's not going to last long.
I am feeling mostly fine apart from tiredness in the afternoons/evening, painful boobs and slight nausea. I am drinking 2 decaf coffee per day, is that ok?
I also I wanted to do light exercise but worried about it...

CollectorOfCookbooks Tue 09-Oct-12 10:57:25

Dontsweat you and I have the same due date grin fingers crossed that all is well. Apparently Father's Day is June 16th next year.

Still no real symptoms for me, except for sore boobs and had cramps over the weekend - pretty much everyone guessed I was pregnant due to not drinking on my best friend's hen do! No bleeding though which was a relief.

I rang the doctors yesterday. Asked if I needed to see a doctor, or just the nurse, or the midwife - the receptionist told me she didn't know and that I should call back on Friday confused which doesn't bode well. If they don't know what they're meant to be doing, how am I supposed to keep up?!

Minaa Congratulations! I went swimming yesterday - go for it - just be sensible and don't get yourself too hot, just pace yourself.

James oh bless him, he's all excited! At least you don't have to hide it now...

4w 3d and it seems like forever to go til the scan.

Dillydollydaydream Tue 09-Oct-12 11:12:28

Hi. I think due date is around 8th June but not 100%. I had a mc in April and cycles have been anything from 28-35 days!
I won't add myself to the list yet.

Only my husband and I know I'm pregnant at the moment. Trying to wait til after the 12 week mark. All being well we'll put a scan pic in our parents Xmas cards smile

I'm really nauseous, sore boobed and tired. I have to keep eating or I feel sick, I'm gonna be huge if I keep this up!

I didn't feel this bad last time so hopefully that's a good sign.

olimoss Tue 09-Oct-12 11:48:05

I'm kind of dreading telling everyone, and wanting to get it over with (6w today, with EDD 04-06-13). I hate fuss, being fussed over.

Those of you with older children - how did you tell people, what was it like? I don't want to be a curmudgeon!

My mum is going to go nuclear. I'm 38 and I swear she had given up all hope.

Lorelei353 Tue 09-Oct-12 12:19:17

Hi all
I'm on another thread but wanted to join the Jun 2013 one too. Got my BFP last Sunday having come back from holiday. I'm now 5 + 2.
Not planning an early scan as I'm attempting to be relaxed about the whole thing. Got my first appt. booked for 1st Nov (my gp surgery do them at the 8-9 week mark).
I'm 36, this is baby #1, and have been TTC since July (so not long at all really).

Have updated the list to add me in but my EDD is a bit of a guess as cycles hadn't really settled down since coming off pill.

Sorry to hear about your mc cereal. Hope you're doing okay (if you're still looking on here - I've taken you off list if that's okay. Didn't think you'd still want to be on there).

6+5 today. Like OP I am eating like a horse. Just had some hula hoops - ready salted.... they were good!!!

Didn't put on any weight other than baby weight last pregnancy but don't remember eating like this. DH says I did so hopefully things will calm down when I'm over the nausea. My nausea went at 12 weeks to the day. Only 5 weeks and 2 days to go then!!!!

Congratulations to all the newbies.

Skinnydecafflatte Tue 09-Oct-12 13:02:55

Welcome to the newbies, nice to see some more people joining.

Ok help please, I’m all confused now. I thought I should be 5+3 by my dates (Af should have been due 29th September 28 days cycles) and I thought I should be due on 9th June. preggersbycheggers is 6+5 and due four days before me and minaa is 6 weeks and due a day after me.

Plesae tell me what I should be? You’d think this was my first pregnancy!! Back in a bit, off to the loo (again...)

princesschick Tue 09-Oct-12 13:07:04

Morning all,

Just waiting for my progesterone test to come back this afternoon. I've been sleeping much, much better. I'm hungry loads but I've been on a regular eating plan for ages, so I've just up'd each snack a little bit rather than scoffing loads more. I've got a really upset tummy this morning, runs and cramps, I thought it was an MC starting but it's just the runs. Still not great to be feeling rough and hungry hmm I think it was the blood test that did it, I was perfectly calm but I still think it gets the adrenalin going along with everything else...

Cereal I'm so sorry to hear your news. I'm still terrified at the moment having been through 2 MCs before and still waiting for DC#1. Please be gentle with yourself and take time to heal. sad thanks

Skinnydecaf my due date is 09/06/13 and I have a 28 cycle. My period was due on 30th September. I'm currently 5 weeks and 2 days. You count the first day of your last period as day 1 and that should get you to how many weeks / days you are now. I used the Mumsnet calculator to work out my due date. Some people will be further along, different EDDs etc because of cycle length. HTH xx

Skinnydecafflatte Tue 09-Oct-12 14:01:38

Ah yes, I forgot about length of cycles. Is is too early for baby brain?!
Thanks

Hello, can I join?

Just had BFP yesterday for DC2 - a bit unexpected for various reasons so just trying to get my head around it right now! I have added myself to the list below - EDD june 7th although periods erratic so I maybe a few days off. Not feeling nauseous, just very very tired (and sore boobs, of course). Will try to keep calmer this time as last time I was soo nervous throughout the pregnancy - I ended up giving birth at 29 weeks and if I think about that risk I will go mental within weeks. So ladies I hope talking to you will help to keep me sane!

Hi, thank you for taking me off the list. I don't know what is going on now. Bleeding was lighter this morning and then stopped. POAS as it was far too short for AF and I got a + just now. Used a boots cheapy and the line wasn't as dark as the control line.

Really confused. Am away with work on and off site for the next three weeks. My last pg was as textbook as they come, this one (if there is one) is not lining up to be as easy.

DOn't add me back just yet - should I go over an MC thread to ask what WTF is happening to my body? Cramps still very strong and just ache all over sad

Cereal, I don't want to give you false hope but these things aren't set in stone, sometimes you can bleed and bleed and still be pregnant. Sometimes you can have no bad symptoms and yet the worst has happened. I have my fingers crossed for you, hoping that you've been lucky, or that at the very least you are quick to concieve again and that the next one sticks properly.

I'm bleeding more than before, it's still only a very small amount but it's gone from pink tinged mucous to streaks of red blood with tiny clots. There's nothing to be done at this stage so I'm just waiting it out and not worrying. I suspect/hope it's just the same cervical abrasion I had last time, which went on for quite a while.

LadyFlumpalot Tue 09-Oct-12 18:48:12

I won't add myself to the list just yet, if that's ok? I'm not quite sure of my dates just yet. Weird symptoms last month that suggest I may be 10 weeks, not 6 weeks.

LadyFlumpalot Tue 09-Oct-12 18:48:51

Oh cereal! Sending massive hugs. ((()))

dreamydays Tue 09-Oct-12 19:12:04

Note to self: do not watch The Wire while pregnant. Cue vivid and horribe dreams.

james I like your little 5 year old siren!

olimoss you asked about telling people last time. We were slow to tell people so as to get past the worry stage first. At work etc, I only told a few people then left it for the grapevine to work its magic - less awkward than having the conversation over and over again! And it's lovely when people come to congratulate smile

Cereal with DS I initially went for an early scan due to bleeding. They found three heartbeats (!) and basically suspected I'd been carrying quads shock, lost one of them but the others were still hanging on.

I then bled from 8 weeks to 16ish weeks pretty much non-stop, had loads of anti-d given, no cause for the bleeding was ever found and it was put down to "one of those things". Although we lost 2 of the boys, it had nothing to do with the bleeding at all.

Maybe you should reconsider that scan at EPU?

James Whoops grin I'm dreading my 5 year old finding out - we'll try not to tell her until after the 12-week mark, although DH was trying to tell her that I'd take her on a school theatre trip 2 days before my EDD and was being particularly thick at interpreting my strangled protests earlier, so who knows what she took in from that!

olimoss Tue 09-Oct-12 21:15:28

Thanks dreamydays ... I like the grapevine idea. Wonder if it'd work over the oceans as I'm not originally from the uk...!

Rue I am torn, I think if I wait till 6/7 weeks then there is more chance of knowing one way or the other IYSWIM?

Cereal It all sounds so confusing for you. How are you feeling today? FX for you that we get you back on the list. smile

Cereal there is that, I suppose it's early days for seeing much anyway. I assume I'll get my early scan in about 2 weeks time, odds are it'll be an internal one too. The joys. Hope you find some answers asap though.

Thank you Rue and Lorelei its been a funny old week. I feel like the body I have known for 30 and counting years is playing tricks on me. I am utterly utterly manic at work, so much so that I will be working 6 day weeks until the end of October then remaining FT until January.

Which is about double what I usually do! At least keeping busy keeps me occupied. james I hope all is well

olimoss Wed 10-Oct-12 18:42:03

Saw the GP, got referred to the midwife and had the flu jab today. All a bit official.....

Needles hurt.

olimoss Wed 10-Oct-12 18:42:39

Oh best of luck cereal - thinking of you....

dreamydays Wed 10-Oct-12 19:38:39

oli I think the grapevine works pretty well on this sort of topic!

Anyone else feeling completely bleurgh? I had to get out of the shower this morning, shampoo on head and all, to throw up...don't remember ever having MS this bad before!

dizzy77 Thu 11-Oct-12 07:33:00

Joining the bus. Baby #2, edd 8 June. Bfp yesterday, trying not to get too excited for another 6 weeks. Crikey. Hope someone starts one of those "tell me it's easier the second time round" threads soon.

Hi dizzy I wouldn't say easier, but definately different. I'm on number 3 and different again
Hi all newbies <waves manically as fred gets busier>

MrsJLS85 Thu 11-Oct-12 11:10:31

ugh... SO ILL!!! I hate this feeling, and its a lot harder this time around with a toddler. Thank goodness DH is so supportive. Anyone else suffering from major morning sickness?

merrygiant Thu 11-Oct-12 11:49:46

Hi to everyone on this exciting bus! I'm a newbie too, its my 2nd pregnancy, had a mmc in June this year and I'm now 6+5, due 1st June!
Has anyone else had a distinct LACK of symptoms?? I'm really panicking cos other than all the tests I keep doing, there's nothing physical to tell me I'm preggers.
I'd kill for some nausea. I gave up smoking on my first BFP Saturday before last and have been on the patches and gum since then. Anyone else battling with fags too?

Skinnydecafflatte Thu 11-Oct-12 12:48:03

Hi MerryGiant and all other newbies.
I am still waiting for symptoms, apart from sore boobs I have nothing (except AF missing in action) I am now 5+5 so maybe soon. I know I should be glad but it does make me wonder. Last time I felt a bit nauseous a lot but that was it.

kiwi5 Thu 11-Oct-12 13:08:02

Um, hi.
Just need to try and make it feel a bit more real. BFP on wed. No 2. But my third pregnancy. I had a mc in may. Have found it very hard since as it seems everyone I knew got pregnant in the summer! Also lost my baby nephew earlier this year, soma rubbish year really! Don't want to get too excited in case it al goes pear shaped, but at the same time it is so exciting isn't it?
Recognise a few peeps from the BFPs in 2012. I wasn't very good at posting, but did read it. Felt I couldn't post news of my BFP on that thread as a couple of the girls are having a rough time at the moment.
Hope everyone doing ok? Have a bit of nausea in the afternoons, boobs ginormous but not quite as achey at the mo!
Looking forward to getting to know you on this journey!

llamallama Thu 11-Oct-12 13:35:19

Just had my GP appointment and have been booked in with midwife at around 9 weeks.

No real symptoms here either. I didn't have MS last time so I'm hoping I will escape this time too. I'm breast feeding my 12 month old and my boobs feel a bit sore when feeding but otherwise ok. Last time they were so tender that would flinch putting a jumper on!

Panicking now as it all feels a bit more real and wondering how to cope with two under two!

Lorelei353 Thu 11-Oct-12 13:38:34

Lack of symptoms for me too. I was quite light-headed some days last week but seems to have settled down. I'm hungry a lot, and then don't want to eat too much when I do so have invested in packs of dried fruit to keep me topped up. No ms so far though!

newlondoner Thu 11-Oct-12 14:15:06

No MS here either. Sore boobs (but improving), more hungry and perhaps I lost my sweet tooth a bit. Who knows. I got my nuchal scan date through today (23 november... feels like it's ages away), although I am still waiting for the midwife appt - which I think it's a bit strange? I'll leave it a few days and if not I'll call the hospital up. It may be that they do it altogether - but then the letter should have said so no?

princesschick Thu 11-Oct-12 14:20:46

Waves to all the newbies smile

Not many symptoms here either. Have stopped waking in the night for food and sleeping straight through this week, have been feeling super tired all the time, boobs are big and a bit achy but not excruciating and have had a couple of waves of nausea but nothing terrible. I am feeling a lot more hungry tho. I'm 5 + 4, so it's still early for symptoms but I'm a bit scared of this weekend because of my two previous MCs.

Had a bit of a jippy tummy on Tuesday and felt very tired, washed out. I always get an upset tummy after having my bloods taken, so I know it wasn't a bug. MiL thinks she's caught a tummy bug from me (we're living with the in laws temporarily) confused I asked DH whether he thought pregnancy was catching grin

Merry quitting is tough isn't it? I gave up last year after my 2nd MC. And haven't touched a fag since. We gave up using e-cigarettes and I moved from nicotine smoke juice to nicotine free smoke juice over a couple of weeks. After about a month on the nicotine free e-cigarette I didn't want to touch fags. I smoked about 10 a day during the week and maybe a few more at weekends before that. DH gave up too. We used an e-cig called Liberro, which you re-charge in a case that looks like a packet of fags. Might be worth a try? Good luck in any case smile

I've seen the GP but not booked in with the midwife. Maybe I should book that up. I was thinking that it might be tempting fate a little and that I should maybe leave it a bit longer? But on the other hand, I want to stay positive and have baby things to look forward to.

It still doesn't feel very real at all! I can't believe I got my BFP over a week ago now!

Welcome to the newbies, I had a really busy day yesterday which didn't do the bleeding I've been having any favours, at one point it was as much as a light period so I decided to call the doctor. You can't get any early scans or be seen at an early pregnancy assessment unit unless you go through your gp so I was mostly there to get on the system in case it got worse over the weekend. I have an early scan booked tomorrow at 2pm, just to check everything's ok, then I can hopefully "ignore" the bleeding like last time. hmm Stupid irritable cervix.

I don't have many symptoms yet (5+1, I think) apart from crying more easily, having a vague sense of fullness and pressure around my womb area, and being tired, especially in the afternoons. I could really do with a nap at about 2pm, fat chance of that! I don't feel sick at all yet, but I'm ok with that grin

Lorelei353 Thu 11-Oct-12 14:38:52

Oh yeah, I'm a bit emotional too JamesAndTheGiantBanana (was going to abbreviate to James but felt weird smile)

I got an email this morning to say someone in our office had a stroke and surgery two nights ago. He's not doing too well. I know this man, but not that well. We're hardly close but I've been out in groups for pints with him and he's a decent guy. Nearly burst into tears on the tube reading the email though. Not my usual reaction!

MrsJLS85 Thu 11-Oct-12 17:13:18

James good luck for your early scan tomorrow. I will be going next week too.
For those with lack of symptoms, it is still quite early. With DC1 my symptoms didn't start til after 7 weeks. This pregnancy they started at 6 weeks, but I don't know if thats because its my second time around (or maybe I'm carrying twins eeek!) or some other reason, like perhaps I've got my dates wrong. So don't worry, I'm sure the symptoms will come soon enough

DontSweatTheSmallStuff Thu 11-Oct-12 17:19:40

Welcome to all the newbies smile

Still not many symptoms here either. No tender or growing boobs. No MS although I didn't get that with the other 2 either so fingers crossed. Just starting to feel a bit tired but I am very hormonal. I forgot how psychotic I get in these early weeks. Poor dh bears the brunt of it and is very patient with me bless him.

Am spotting, started this afternoon. Wait and see time, I guess. sad

Rue I'm so sorry, fingers crossed

Skinnydecafflatte Fri 12-Oct-12 06:36:21

Oh rue I hope it stops and that you are not in any pain?

MummyTeach85 Fri 12-Oct-12 08:53:57

Hello can I join? One week ago I got my BFP with a Tesco test. This was 14 days after my first ever positive opk two months after starting ttc. So as you can imagine I am feeling too lucky to feel secure yet. Only slight symptoms. Nausea on an off, lots of burps, I was up 4 times in the night to pee, I have loads of CM, and am pretty knackered.

I am also suffering from viral laringytus so have lost my voice and am now coughing lots!! Every time I cough I clutch Pip in case I cough him out!!!

I think I am 4+6 with an EDD of the 15th of June!

LadyFlumpalot Fri 12-Oct-12 08:57:25

Sorry guys - TMI but my gosh, my boobs HURT today. I'm very flat chested normally (don't quite fill an A cup)... I'm bursting out of my one B cup now! I'm liking this, still got a flat tummy and now I have big boobs too! grin

MummyTeach85 Fri 12-Oct-12 09:13:29

Ladyflumpalot that sounds great! Lol

I told my DH the other day that his favourite ph symptoms had started, bigger boobs!! He was chuffed.

Rue, there are a fair few reasons for bleeding in early pregnancy, apart from mc. Implantation bleeding can happen up to 9 weeks, apparently, while everything settles down. Cervical erosion (irritable cervix) which can make you bleed after sex or even if you've been abstaining like me hmm Placenta previa, when the placenta forms over the top of the cervix which can cause a bit of bleeding when you move about a lot, but shouldn't cause any pain. I've also read about something called a subchorionic hemorrhage, which I'd never heard of, which is when a blood clot forms between the uterine wall and the chorion (sac?) that surrounds the baby, which can lead to bleeding, but often heals by itself.

Are you having any pain? How far along are you? Hoping you're ok x

Yay for bigger boobs! Not sure mine are any bigger, I have the odd sharp shooting pain in them but they aren't tender. I tend to get seriously sore bosoms at about 5 months pregnant, not usually in the early stages.

Get well soon mummyteach, sounds nasty! It's crap when all you can take is paracetamol, too.

DontSweat, hormones are fun aren't they? (not) I managed to start a big row with my dp about not being able to watch Downton Abbey the other day (he hadn't said I couldn't or anything, I er, assumed, and basically shouted at him for nothing) blush Poor dp.

Off for my scan later, everything except legs crossed (as it'll be transvaginal, might make things tricky for the scan lady!) grin

princesschick Fri 12-Oct-12 10:58:19

Rue I'm so sorry. It's really stressful isn't it. I know exactly how you feel. Poor you sad However, I've known loads of people who've had spotting in early pregnancy and they've gone on to be fine. Take care of yourself and rest up. Thinking of you xx

Cereal how are you getting on? Still thinking of you too xx

James I've got everything crossed for your scan. Wishing you lots and lots of luck and love xx

Teach err to laryngitis that sounds absolutely pants. But congrats! And you are totally lucky getting there after 2 months! envy ! In the nice way of course, I've been on this road for 3 and a half years now and still no DC! That could all change tho and I'm totally excited now smile

Lady even the duvet was hurting my boobs last night, they seem to change throughout the day, like mildly hurty now if they are prodded or caught on things (I'm so dozy at the moment!) - door handle anyone? Ouch! And they seem to be much more painful at night.

Today I woke up to really bad nausea - DHs fresh coffee, MiLs rubber gloves, the compost pot and my towel (but it was clean from the wash today!)

My 12 week scan is booked in for 29/11 although I will be closer to 13 weeks then. It all seems a bit real now. Still terrified about this weekend being doom weekend. However, symptoms seem stronger this time. Here's hoping.

Waves and ginger tea to you all xx

hiya all - no more bleeding, DH does not wish to discuss at all and I am up to my ears in work so for now at least i am burying my head in the sand. I feel fine, no sickness, I'm quite tired but I am on the go 6am-10pm so I suspect thats pretty normal.

I am hungry though. I even stooped as low as eating DD's snacks last night as I couldn't wait until dinner. She has never had to share with mummy before and did so extremely grudgingly! Its the same as last time, needing red meat and protein, not interested in carbs, want meat, especially steak. <-- vegetarian meals vanish off the menu when pg. Can't handle chicken either

princesschick Fri 12-Oct-12 11:30:11

Cereal that is great news. FX for you here. I hear ya on the snacking front. I am NEVER this hungry!! Poor DH is having to make dinner because I'm feeling to queasy to chop even carrots (the smell, the smell). So I'm relaxing in front of the telly basically waiting to be fed. God knows what MiL thinks of me... lazy cow probably!! As they don't know that I am pg!!

Thanks all - James that's really helpful, I assumed implantation bleeding would have gone by now. Maybe that's what it is, FX.

I'm 6 weeks afaik, still spotting but old blood (sorry tmi!) so not writing anything off yet. I'll drag myself up to epu on Monday morning to confirm one way or the other though I think. I've had spotting with both DD and DS, but that doesn't make it any less worrying! Although I guess my mmc was the only time I had no bleeding at all (god my body is rubbish at being pregnant lol).

MummyTeach85 Fri 12-Oct-12 11:41:36

Princess that is why I can't relax!! It's just so quick, am not the lucky sort usually.

Thanks for the ginger tea, it now has a two pronged benefit, nausea and sore throat cure.

I have some hungry days and some not hungry days. Today is an off food day for sure. Not motivation to eat. Going to pop to sainsburys in a bit and see if I am inspired!!

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat Fri 12-Oct-12 12:18:24

Hello, can i join you all?

I just got a bfp yesterday. Realised period was 5 days late! Due date will be 16th June 2013. Already have a 13 month old. It's still early days but fingers crossed all goes well.

Note to self - do not leave this page open on laptop when boss (also pg) can see thread title.

Hello MummyTeach!

So I've been having cramps for the last 3 days, but no spotting. Trying not to fear the worst. Been constantly hungry the last few days.

Now, as DH is out tonight and I can't have wine, I've called in to the posh chocolate shop near us and bought a selection so gorgeous chocolates to keep me going this evening. Oh lord, i'm going t be the size of a house by the time I get to 12 weeks at this rate!

MummyTeach85 Fri 12-Oct-12 13:10:56

Oooo I did see some lovely rose and violet creams in the shop the other day, they might tempt me. This is the first day I havent been interested in food. Most unusual for me!! I haven't had any bleeding which I think is positive. Just so nervous, might get another test. Seeing my doctor on Monday.

DontSweatTheSmallStuff Fri 12-Oct-12 13:41:03

Rue / Dont mind - fingers crossed for you both. I had lots of old blood spotting and horrendous cramps with ds1. He was ok - hope you will be too. It is very worrying when it's happening though.

Cereal -Glad to hear it's stopped. fingers crossed for you too. Whoops about your boss though. Did she say anything.

Mummyteach85 - lol at burps, with ds1 one of my friends who knew we were ttc guessed I was pregnant because I was burping so much. I tried to blame too many cups of tea but she wasn't convinced! Hope you feel better soon.

James hope the scan goes well. Your dh and mine could get together and share psycho pg partner stories. grin

envy at all the growing boobs. I'm still waiting for mine ( tiny A) to do something interesting.

I'm thinking of changing my name to DontSweatTheSmallStuffExceptWhenYouAre5WeeksPGandYourHormonesMakeYouWantToKillSomeoneJustForBreathing

CollectorOfCookbooks Fri 12-Oct-12 16:47:25

Definitely expanding in the norkage area although DH says he can't see any difference - but a couple of my shirts are already looking distinctly strainy on a couple of buttons!

Went to the Docs today, am booked in to see the midwife in ten days (apparently they see you from 6 weeks where I live) and I've had my flu jab.

Starting to feel a bit more real, and I got all excited. DH is now very excited. But am still nervous, not least because my temp is all over the shop - I'm freezing cold during the day, particularly in the evening, then boiling hot from about midnight until 6am. Anyone else have that?

I've also got the burps - and the downstairs version too!!

Fingers crossed for us all - Cereal, what did your boss say?

Hi, had my scan, not the best result really: inconclusive. She saw a sac, only 2mm long though, nothing visible inside it (yet?) as so tiny. Just a tiny black dot in a sea of grey. She said its either a VERY early pregnancy, or I have/am/going to miscarry, or it could point to there being an ectopic pregnancy. So basically they took a blood sample, they need another on Sunday, and they'll compare hormone levels. If they're rising, it's good, if they're falling it's bad. She said for a viable pregnancy they'd expect a 60% increase in 2 days. They won't compare levels til Monday though. And if the levels rise then they'll scan again on Tuesday to see if there are any changes in the sac. They want to rule out an ectopic. I hope it's not that!

I just poas, middle of the day, finally got a nice dark positive after a zillion insipid pastel pink lines. It'd be too bloody unfortunate if my nice strong positive was stuck in the pipes!! angry

Fx anyway.

MummyTeach85 Fri 12-Oct-12 17:23:51

Hello Collector, I have been having the hot flushes around those times, it worries me as I usually get these temp changes just before my period arrives. And I am currently sat under a blanket.

I have also had lots of burps. From all sorts of foods or activities. Nor bottom burps tho!! Maybe they are to come.

Everything is crossed for all of us.

MummyTeach85 Fri 12-Oct-12 17:36:39

Hiya James,
Sorry to hear about your inconclusive scan, must be a worrying time. Hopefully your bloods will show rising HCG and that all is well. How many weeks are you? It much be hard to see such tiny Pips.

Fingers crossed for you.

ella0 Fri 12-Oct-12 17:40:01

Fingers crossed for you, James, Rue and cereal.

Fingers crossed for us all... An ectopic pregnancy is a major fear for me.

thedevilisinthedetail Fri 12-Oct-12 18:02:00

Fingers crossed indeed for James, rue and cereal.

I've gone through dates again and midwife has decided she wants to see me tomorrow morning and then scan (though not sure if that will be tomorrow) to check how far along I am. I think only about 5 but am feeling so dreadful and last period was really light so maybe just implantation. So tired I feel like I will pass out out cry most of the time.

dreamydays Fri 12-Oct-12 18:29:04

james sorry your scan was inconclusive - how frustrating. I had a v early (5 week-ish) scan with DD as I was bleeding and I remember they couldn't see anything much then either. In particular they couldn't see a heartbeat. They told me to come back in a week - which I did, and there was the heartbeat clearly! Fx for you.

Rue sorry to hear about your spotting. Fwiw when I've had it, I've been told to take it easy: once I was put on bedrest and another time to avoid strenuous exercise etc. So put your feet up if you can! (I'm now taking progesterone which fx has meant no spotting this time.)

On boobs, yes I reckon everyone must think I've had a boob job! Are you guys still wearing underwired bras? I'm not keen to give them up!

Thanks everyone, dreamy when you say they couldn't see anything much, could they see the yolk sac or the embryo or was it pretty much an empty sac? Thanks for the positive story, I feel a bit deflated tonight and worried it's an ectopic. I'm working my way through the halloween sweets we bought, and I've just about eaten my weight in tiny chocolate pumpkins. <puke>

Ooh devils, maybe you'll have to join the may group! one month less to wait smile

TheBakersWife Fri 12-Oct-12 21:08:50

Good evening all. Well blimey it's been a roller coaster ride this week. Thoughts are with you cereal james rue. Here's hoping for a continuation of massive sore knockers, hormonal mood swings, flatulence and overwhelming tiredness for us all. But can I ask are bushy eyebrows and beard hair a pregnancy symptom or is that just me?! I had a shock today when I saw my Dennis Healey's in the bathroom mirror and then, complete horror, find a great long (blonde thank god) chin hair. So unattractive! grin

dreamy I am. Damned if I'm giving them up just yet. grin

Bakerswife, when I was pregnant with my son I got a hairy belly, didn't get one with my daughter, I think it was the boy hormones! Might be a bit early for that though, it might just be you grin I found a long cheek hair the other day, part and parcel of getting older I think!

dreamy I had underwired BFing bras for both of mine so far grin you do have to hunt them out though, they aren't easy to find. The underwiring isn't wire, it's actually plastic which isn't as hard so doesn't cut into the breast tissue. Or something.

TheBakersWife Fri 12-Oct-12 21:53:33

Hairy belly lol! So much to look forward to! grin

dreamydays Sat 13-Oct-12 09:21:49

OMG chin hairs and hairy belly, please no!!

james all they could see was a little dark mass and it was too early to tell what it was. But they did say for sure that it was in the right place, ie not ectopic. If yours was ectopic I'm pretty sure they would have picked it up at your scan.

DH says I look "upholstered" this morning. Thanks for the tip on underwired bras rue - where did you get them from?

devils good luck. Exciting if you're further along than you thought!

llamallama Sat 13-Oct-12 10:57:43

So I'm off to an all day hen do today...I'm one of the bridesmaids.

I intend to "pretend" to drink all day!

Any tips?

So far I have:
* order lime and soda and say its vodka. Though this will be very unusual in itself as I normally only drink wine
* order a large wine but not actually drink it, maybe carry it around & then "accidentally" put it down somewhere
* order virgin cocktails with the excuse of "it's a hen do let's treat ourselves"
* also avoiding being at the bar with people so they don't offer to buy me a drink

But how to cope at dinner when wine will be on the table and it will be more obvious???

Ahhhhh!! Don't know what to do! "I'm on anti biotics" is the BIGGEST "I'm pregnant" alert!! So don't want to use that one!

When I was pregnant last time I did a lot of 'pretending to have a really bad hangover' so I couldn't stomach drinking, but don't think that will work today!

Hello can I join? BFP on thurs, only 4 wks.
Had 3 mc previous so very nervous but want to come on here as I can't tell anyone yet, except DH of course!

Llamallamacould you have lemonade in a wine glass and say its a spritzer?
Wisdom teeth coming in is a good one, then you can be on strong pain killers.

Littlebiker Sat 13-Oct-12 11:42:45

Hi all, is there room for me? No idea about due date! My last pill was on the 16th September and I got my BFP yesterday. Little bit of cramping is scaring me! Xx

llama stomach upset? so sticking to lime & soda or water? Spritzers might work.

Have one glass of wine with dinner and just don't drink (all of) it. I had a small glass last night, was very nice! Guidelines I think say don't drink at all, but research doesn't back that up, 1-2 units once or twice a week seems fine. Mind you, I'm happily eating dippy eggs etc too so feel free not to listen to me grin

DontSweatTheSmallStuff Sat 13-Oct-12 11:52:01

Llama. I once discovered It's amazing how long you can make one glass of lemonade white wine and soda etc last if you try.

llamallama Sat 13-Oct-12 12:57:24

Good plan! I like the lemonade in a wine glass plan!

I'm still breast feeding so have perfect excuse not to drink loads, just need to pretend to have a couple through the day!

DontmindifIdo Sat 13-Oct-12 14:11:38

Llama - i intend to drag out my technique from last time, it requires some strong backbone.

So if anyone directly challenges your non-drinking with "are you pregnant?" loudly misunderstand (it's important this next bit is basically screetched so the whole table can hear) "oh my god!! do you think I look pregnant? I know I've put on a couple of pounds, but really do you think I look pregnant? I'm so binning this dress after tonight!!" - que an embarrassed friend saying "no of course you don't look pregnant" then you keep talking over any attempted to ask again why you aren't drinking with asking other people at the table (again, loudly) "X thought I looked pregnant in this dress! Go on, be honest, am I too fat for it?" (if you can get shiny eyes at this point, all the better).

At this point, friend X will be dying of embarrassment, you can then 'understand' she meant because you weren't drinking, not calling you fat and say "oh so you don't think I look pregnant? Ok, no I'm not feeling great so not drinking, that's all. Still, wake up call, i'm going on a diet before the wedding!".

The issue of you not drinking won't be discussed again. No one will dare suggest you are pregnant.

MummyTeach85 Sat 13-Oct-12 14:38:20

Dontmind that is hilarious!!

I am really bloated today, I look way past my five weeks. But it is also really painful, like trapped wind. feel I need a big fart but couldn't possibly say that on mumsnet

Am drinking ginger tea atm hoping it helps and nibbling on fruit. Any pearls of wisdom?

MummyTeach have you tried windeze? it's safe to use in pregnancy. Also peppermint tea is good apparently. I think you can buy a tea specifically for digestion too. Or try gentle excercise/stretches, like lying on your back holding your knees and rocking from side to side a bit. I remember someone suggesting you get on all fours, then put your elbows and head on the floor, it should "align" things and let the wind out! Probably one to do in private unless it'd give your other half a chuckle! grin

MummyTeach85 Sat 13-Oct-12 18:47:52

James it worked! Massive burp!! Now I can just feel the popping gas continue it's journey!

MrsMargoLeadbetter Sat 13-Oct-12 22:11:36

Checking in.

Was busy with ttc this month. However OPK showed up postive 3 days in a row. Dr Google suggested either PCOS (which I have) or potentially pregnancy. Tested yesterday am, 2 tests confirmed I am.

Bit shocked as had "a period" end of Sept. Although was v light and short. Had some bleeding with DS so not too concerned.

So should be due 12 June.

Determined to not put on as much cake weight this time.

Hope you are all feeling ok.

Here is to the long wait for the 12 week scan.

Hi mrsmargo congratulations! grin

DontSweatTheSmallStuff Sun 14-Oct-12 08:06:24

Oh goodness! The dreams! blush I forgot about the dreams!

Welcome MrsMargo smile

Onemoreforgoodmeasure Sun 14-Oct-12 10:08:45

Hi everyone, I'm just back from holiday and sat down to this thread with my morning cuppa. Sorry to read about the bleeding and understandable worries. Fx for you all specifically, and all of us generally, on another thread we call it The Fear.

pinkapples Sun 14-Oct-12 13:26:54

Any clues about sex and orgasms this early on? I haven't had any bleeding and had 1 miscarriage earlier in the year I've been to scared to do anything this time? What are everyone's views?

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat Sun 14-Oct-12 14:53:49

Dreamy, I had a previous ectopic (which resolved naturally). It was spotted at 8 weeks gestation and was quite clearly in the tube. I knew something was wrong as my dates were strange (still had a period) and had no symptoms at all. I think it sounds very positive that the sac was in the womb.

When I fell pregnant with ds I had a scan at 6 weeks and got a picture of a dark grey circle on a different grey background. There isn't always a lot to see at that stage. Was it a belly scan or what we lovingly named the dildo cam? That can make a difference in how much you see too.

I have a scan booked for the 26th Oct to make sure this baby is in the right place, so know how you feel. Either way just try and take it easy in the mean time.

CuriosityColaKilledTheCat Sun 14-Oct-12 14:54:48

Pinkapples, I would just go with what you feel comfortable with. I felt nervous with my first dc until I was 12 weeks and then hormones took over blushgrin

lmao at dildocam! my oh will love that smile

pinkapples, there's probably nothing wrong with normal sex if you aren't bleeding. I'm avoiding it for obvious reasons!

Had my second blood test, should find out if the hcg levels have risen tomorrow morning. <twiddles thumbs>

pinkapples Sun 14-Oct-12 16:20:58

Awww good luck James grin

Think ill play it safe till my scan.. Has everyone booked their 1st appointment with doctor/midwife?

Squidge123 Sun 14-Oct-12 16:33:35

Hi, sorry not posted since the first time, fingers crossed for everyone that are worried at min. I am 5 weeks today, feel fine but start to feel sick if don't eat for a while, feel bloated am hoping I don't start to show early!! Im trying to get motivated to go for a run soon while I still can x

Squidge123 Sun 14-Oct-12 16:39:31

Not booked in with midwife yet, think last time I went at 8 weeks for the booking in appointment then had scan at 11 weeks.

EddieIzzardIsOrange Sun 14-Oct-12 17:03:29

Hi, hows everyone doing? Sorry for those with bleeding etc

I'm still very, very sick, got anti-emetics from the docs but they're not doing enough so will go back tomorrow and get some stronger ones...

Scan on Friday, will be 7+5, how much are they realistically going to be able to see?
